Episode # 11162 ~ Ashley remembers her painful past; Neil & Devon seize an opportunity. Marla Adams returns as Abbott matriarch Dina Mergeron.

Provided By Suzanne

Victoria: You're together?

Billy: Look, it wasn't -- this is not how I wanted this to happen, Victoria.

Phyllis: I'm sorry you had to find out this way.

Victoria: Yeah, so am I.

Lily: Hey.

Cane: Hey.

Lily: Is this where the elevator got stuck? I had to take the stairs. Everyone's okay, right? No one got stranded in there?

Cane: Sweetheart, you should come with me.

Victoria: This couldn't get more humiliating. Not that you care at all.

Billy: Of course I care. I never wanted to hurt you.

Victoria: You have said that to me so many times, but you keep doing it.

Phyllis: How many times have you hurt Billy? Why is it so hard for you to understand that he wants a woman who treats him with respect, who doesn't toy with him, who doesn't building up his hopes to just, like, toss him aside, like he's nothing? I have always cared about Billy, and I think he deserves a lot more than you're capable of giving, Victoria.

Abby: Hi, Dad.

Victor: Abby! Sweetheart! Come in.

Abby: Hi! Mwah! I'm glad you're back!

Victor: Well, I'm glad to be back.

Abby: So, how was your trip? Where'd you go? What'd you do?

Victor: Oh, just a few things to take care of. Now, I've been looking over your work while I was gone...

Abby: And what do you think?

Victor: I'm very impressed. Damn good job. Anything I should know about?

Abby: Steady as she goes. Nothing to report.

Victor: Well, I like to hear that.

Abby: So, now that you're back in the big chair, is there anything you'd like me to focus on?

Victor: Well, there's something I think you should know about. You know, your grandmother's in the news.

Abby: My grandmother?

Victor: Yeah. Dina Mergeron. She's putting up her company for sale.

Abby: She is?

Victor: Yeah.

Abby: Hmm.

Victor: Didn't your mother tell you about that?

Abby: No.

Victor: How about your uncle jack?

Abby: Not a word, but they must know if it's gone public.

Victor: Sure. It made quite a stir in the business world.

Abby: Are you thinking of making a bid?

Victor: We haven't made a big acquisition for a while. Maybe this might be a good time.

Devon: We are almost to Paris.

Neil: Yes, we are. Let's finish working up a game plan on how to approach Dina Mergeron, shall we?

Devon: Actually, you know what, I've been thinking, man. Making this acquisition will say to the business world we're not playing around. We have the funds and we're motivated, don't you think?

Neil: Agreed. But we're not just talking about who's gonna place the highest bid here, okay? We got to convince Dina that we're the right stewards to carry on her business. Pitching to acquire a corporation, it's nothing like buying a building or a television show.

Devon: For sure, and I know that you have all the expertise in that area, so I'm leaving the pitching to you.

Neil: [Chuckles] I appreciate the vote of confidence, I do, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. There is no guarantee that we're gonna make this deal close. As a matter fact, real talk, don't get your hopes up too high.

Ashley: Hi. I got some additional numbers from the trade show. Even more productive that we originally thought. What's so fascinating? So what?

Jack: That's all you have to say?

Ashley: What would you like me to say?

Jack: You're not even a little curious as to why our mother has her company up for sale?

Ashley: As long as that woman stays far, far away from me, I don't give a damn what happens to her or her company.

Devon: Well, sure, there's gonna be other competition to acquire Mergeron, but our money should be as good as anybody else's, if not better, I'd imagine, since there's so much that we have that's liquid. I've barely even touched the bulk of what Katherine left me.

Neil: It's not just about a bank account, you know? When a private company like this is privately owned, it's personal. Look at it this way. You got Victor with Newman enterprises, jack with jabot, your grandmother Katherine, chancellor industries. Same thing for Dina. It's been her company for decades. She's tough about this, man. It's her blood, sweat, and tears.

Devon: I just think she's gonna want to make sure that her hard work is respected and that her legacy continues, right?

Neil: The problem is, we don't know exactly what she wants from a buyer or how she expects Mergeron to evolve. I mean, no matter how strong our offer is, there is no surefire way of getting a yes out of Dina Mergeron.

Victor: I have not made any real decision about acquiring Mergeron. Since you're part of the family, what's your perspective?

Abby: Well, I -- I've never met her. I mean, no one ever talks about her. Honestly, I forget I have a grandmother most of the time.

Victor: But you've heard stories.

Abby: Yeah, I know that she abandoned her family when my mom was very young, but my mom never mentions her. It's like she doesn't exist.

Victor: Sort of like me. I was left at an orphanage by my mother. I resented her for years. We made up when she was on her deathbed.

Abby: Yes, but dad, your mother left you so you could have a place to live, food to eat. From everything I've heard about Dina, she left for purely selfish reasons, never giving a second thought about the family she left behind.

Victor: Complicated woman.

Abby: You knew her?

Victor: Yeah.

Abby: What was she like?

Victor: Tough, always wanted to be the center of attention, and always had a good-looking guy on her arm.

Abby: So she left my grandpa for another man, a new life. I mean, what -- what kind of person does that, let alone a wife and a mother?

Victor: Yeah, john Abbott deserved better. So did their children. I bet you her name coming up in the business news will remind them of some unpleasant times, you know?

Abby: Times I know nothing about.

Victor: Perhaps it's better that way.

Billy: I spent months trying to be the man that I thought you wanted, trying to be a good father to the kids, trying to support you with reed. Trying to give you everything that I thought you needed, but it was just never enough for you. I'd give you everything, and you would give nothing back to me.

Victoria: I told you, I needed more time.

Billy: It was impossible to know what you ever wanted, Vick.

Victoria: I told you I wanted more!

Billy: Come on! That was yesterday! What about days ago when you said I need to get it through my thick skull that you don't want anything to do with me ever again romantically? What am I supposed to do with that? You want me to shut my feelings off and turn them back on whenever you see fit, but I'm sorry, it just doesn't work that way.

Victoria: How does it work, then, huh? You reach out to me, I don't respond fast enough, so then you default back to Phyllis? Is that how it works, Billy?

Phyllis: You know what, if we're gonna talk about me, then you better get it right. I have always cared about Billy, and that has never changed. And what happened just now in the elevator, I am not thrilled that I had an audience, but I'm also not ashamed of what we have. It is not sleazy, it is not cheap, and it is not about you. I want Billy as much as he wants me.

Victoria: Is that true?

Billy: Vick...

Victoria: Do you want to be with Phyllis? Is she the woman you want?

Phyllis: You two need to talk. I will be at jabot when you're done.

Gloria: Got a minute?

Jack: Yeah. What's up?

Gloria: Congratulate me. I'm a grandmother again.

Jack: I'm confused.

Gloria: It turns out that Kevin is Bella's father after all.

Jack: Wow. I guess congratulations are in order. How did you find out about this?

Gloria: Chloe. She sent letters to Kevin and Billy and told them both that they might be Bella's father. Tests were done. Kevin won. Or lost, depending on your point of view.

Jack: I bet Billy was relieved at the news.

Gloria: Yeah! Yeah, I bet he was, but right now, I'm a little more concerned about Kevin. [Sighs] My son, officially a single dad.

Jack: How's he handling that?

Gloria: He's overwhelmed, jack, but, you know, he's -- he's happy.

Jack: Wait, happy?

Gloria: Yeah. He was planning to adopt Bella after the wedding. He really loves that little girl.

Jack: And how are you holding up, knowing that your son is now inextricably tied to a woman you despise? Is this the calm before the storm?

Gloria: No. No, I have got to stay calm, for Kevin's sake. He's had his world turned upside-down twice in as many weeks. Oh, there will be plenty of time for me to rail on Chloe for what she's done later. Right now, I need to figure out how to give Kevin all the support I can. I mean, he's got this little tiny life in the palm of his hands. I mean, Bella doesn't understand why her mommy went away! What happens when she finds out and realizes that her mother betrayed her, abandoned her? I mean, what happens if she grows up thinking that she wasn't good enough to stand between her mommy and murder? What does that do to a child? What does that inevitable pain do to my son? No, I need Kevin to, uh...be brave and strong for that little girl. All the qualities that I lacked. Because I couldn't protect my children when they needed me.

Jack: And you're worried this is gonna bring up old emotions in your son.

Gloria: Of course, it will! You can't escape the past. It has this nasty little habit of becoming the present.

Phyllis: Lauren.

Lauren: Hi!

Phyllis: What are you doing here?

Lauren: Oh, I'm just checking in with Ravi. Nothing urgent. You know, I haven't been chained to my desk lately. [Laughing] A lot going on at home.

Phyllis: That's right. Your new addition. Bella.

Lauren: You heard.

Phyllis: How's it going?

Lauren: It was a shock. Not unwelcome but, you know, still...

Phyllis: It's good that Kevin has you and Michael to support him and that child.

Lauren: Are you okay, honey?

Phyllis: Fine. I'm fine. I'm good. I just got a lot going on in the head, that's all.

Lauren: Michael told me that you and Billy had rekindled your romance. Can't believe I had to hear it from him... but you look like it's not going the way you hoped.

Phyllis: I just got what I wanted. In the worst possible way.

Billy: Stop. Vick, stop. Would you stop moving for 2 minutes? Please.

Victoria: How long were you and Phyllis sneaking around? How long were you planning on hiding it from me? Or maybe that was part of the fun -- reliving the thrill of lying to me and your own brother?

Billy: It hasn't been long, okay, and I wanted to tell you.

Victoria: Why didn't you tell me, then?

Billy: I tried! But, of course, you shut me out, and then you tell me about Nikki's M.S. What do you want me to do with that, lay that on top of you with everything else that you got going on?

Victoria: So you were protecting me from the truth? How noble.

Billy: Yes, Vick, I was worried about you.

Victoria: You were worried about me because you were worried about how I was gonna react.

Billy: Both! Not for my sake, but for your sake! With everything else you got going on in your life, you think I want to be the one add more drama to it?

Victoria: You told me to leave things alone. That's what you told me. But I didn't listen. I had to push it. [Sighs] God, I'm so stupid.

Billy: Please don't say that. Look, we have not been a couple for a long time. And what you said to me the other day, what do you want me to do with that? You want me to wait around until you hopefully change your mind?

Victoria: Okay, look, I said some things that I didn't mean. I regretted them and I tried to apologize to you. I apologized to you as soon as I could, but obviously it wasn't soon enough, or you just didn't care because you were already back in Phyllis' bed. I don't know, Billy. I don't know which one of us that makes more pathetic.

Billy: [Sighs]

Lily: I came here to tell everyone how my shoot with Jordan went this morning, but now, I don't think it's a priority.

Cane: Yeah, I think it's gonna be a rough time around here 'cause she normally puts up with his garbage, but this time...

Lily: I guess there's no more staff dinners ever again.

Cane: Eh, well, suppose that means that Billy can't throw his weight around anymore.

Lily: Don't tell me that you're thinking this is good for you.

Cane: Well, it means I don't have to jockey for position anymore 'cause she knows I can deliver.

Lily: Yeah, but you also are not upset that Billy's in a bad place.

Cane: What can I say? He's a chronic screw-up, and the truth finally came out.

Lily: Yeah, and Victoria suffers because of it.

Cane: I don't know about that. Maybe she's better off 'cause she finally realizes that she doesn't need him, either personally or professionally.

Billy: I wanted to be with you, Vick, and I'm not blaming you. Maybe it's timing, maybe it's baggage, maybe it's just who we are.

Victoria: We were getting to such a good place.

Billy: With me at arm's length.

Victoria: Come on. I was just trying to be cautious. I mean, can you blame me after everything we've been through? [Sighs] Look... I -- I wanted things to work again, and I know that -- I know I slowed everything down.

Billy: Slowed down? You slammed the brakes.

Victoria: Come on. Billy, Billy, what happened to you not blaming me?

Billy: I'm not blaming you. I'm just explaining. I didn't think you wanted me.

Victoria: I did.

Billy: Then why did you say the opposite? Not once, but twice. I mean, how am I supposed to know that you just needed more time to be sure? You don't explain yourself that way. You do the opposite. You push me away and you tell me you don't want me. I understand if you're worried that you're gonna get hurt again. I get that. Maybe you just don't want me that much. I couldn't just keep doing what we were doing.

Lauren: How awful for you and Billy, and terrible for Victoria.

Phyllis: Certainly not the way we wanted her to find out. I was adamant with Billy that I was not gonna be the other woman. And, you know, we wanted to do this right. He was gonna speak to Victoria privately, but... you know, I think Victoria deserves to know where we stand, but, you know, unfortunately, Billy was not able to follow through, and so now I am the bitch who was making out with someone else's man in the elevator.

Lauren: Uh, okay. A, not a bitch. And, b, Billy doesn't belong to Victoria.

Phyllis: [Scoffs] Well, it is out in the open now. And it just is not good. [Stammering] I mean, I think -- I can't even imagine how Victoria is reacting right now.

Lauren: It was going to be tough no matter how she found out. I assume that jack doesn't know.

Phyllis: No. But he will soon.

Lauren: Wow. He finds out you're back with his brother... [Chuckles]

Phyllis: You know, jack and I are in a very different place, you know? We're civil. Friendly, even, you know? Sometimes.

Lauren: So you think he's over your breakup?

Phyllis: I -- I think he's gotten past the anger. I think he's gotten past the resentment and the betrayal, and I -- yeah, I think he's good.

Lauren: Is that what you believe, or is that just wishful thinking?

Gloria: Oh, jack. I'm sorry. I didn't meant to come in here and cry on your shoulder.

Jack: No, no, no, no, no, no. You needed to talk.

Gloria: [Laughs] Yeah, but conversation isn't usually one of our benefits. Who knew that you could be such a good listener?

Jack: Yeah, I'm full of surprises. You know what? Kevin is not the same man who came to town all those years ago. He's smarter, he's stronger, he's willing to put himself out there. He's made peace with you. Look, you may feel guilty about the past. I don't think Kevin blames you.

Gloria: Well, if he does, he doesn't say it.

Jack: You made your family whole again. Bella will grow up surrounded by love and support.

Gloria: Just no mommy.

Jack: When a family comes together, they can overcome a hell of a lot, and that includes the absence of a mother who abandoned them all.

Dina: I never, ever wanted it revealed. I would have given my own life to protect this secret.

Ashley: But someone else knew the secret, too, huh? You couldn't control your lover, Brent Davis, could you?

Dina: Brent means nothing to me. Nothing.

Ashley: Well, obviously he did at one time, mother. I mean, after all, he is my father. [Scoffs] You know what that does to me? When I think that that drunken slob was your lover... ...and that out of your dirty little affair, I was born.

Dina: You were conceived and brought into this world with love.

Ashley: I was brought into this world out of betrayal -- betrayal to john Abbott, to his children, and to your daughter. Do you have any idea what you've taken away from me?!

Dina: Bonjour, gentlemen.

Devon: It's our pleasure, Madame Mergeron. I'm Devon Hamilton. It's very nice to meet you. This is my father and business partner, Neil winters.

Dina: Of course. Well, let's hope this meeting is going to be worth my time.

Devon: Can I get you guys anything to drink? Maybe an espresso or fresh-pressed juice?

Graham: I'll take care of it.

Dina: Graham knows what I like. [Chuckles] I understand the Hamilton-Winters group is a new endeavor for both of you, based in Genoa City.

Neil: It is indeed. You know, you and I crossed paths there years ago, but I never had the chance of making your acquaintance. I'm pleased to rectify that now. I actually know your family quite well, and we have a lot of mutual friends. And just so you know, I've held top-level executive positions with both Newman enterprises and with jabot.

Dina: Merci. Obviously I'm very familiar with both of those companies. But we're not here to talk about the competition. We're here to talk about my company. But you must realize I have other attractive offers from other companies.

Neil: Of course. We realize that.

Dina: So, tell me, why should I let you be the ones to take the prize, hmm?

Dina: Ashley, please. You've got to believe --

Ashley: I don't have to believe anything because everything you've ever said since before I was even born has been a lie! There is not one thing about me that is real or honest. Do you have any idea what that does to me?

Victor: Hello.

Ashley: Hi.

Victor: You seem so far away in your thoughts.

Ashley: I guess I was.

Billy: So, what, that's it, then? Conversation's over?

Victoria: I think you've made yourself pretty clear. You're done with me and you want Phyllis, so I hope you don't expect me to beg for you.

Billy: Vick, we don't have to let this ruin us.

Victoria: I have to reschedule this meeting with the lawyer, so if you have someplace that you need to be, I suggest you go there.

Lily: Billy. Hey, I'm -- I'm really sorry.

Billy: That makes two of us. Don't even, okay? I don't want to hear anything out of you.

Cane: Hey, cool, 'cause I only want to talk to her.

Billy: Why don't you just give her a little bit of time? She doesn't need you gloating because I'm a jackass.

Cane: I'm not gloating. But you do realize I care about her and this company.

Billy: You know what, cane, for I don't know how long, you've been toeing this line, but the truth is --

Cane: Whoa, this is gonna be great, you're gonna talk about the truth -- go! Give it to me.

Billy: The truth is, you're a smug, self-righteous --

Cane: Smug, self-righteous what? Say it to me. Say it to me. Go.

Billy: I feel terrible for lily. She should have ran...

Cane: Okay. All right. So you're gonna talk about my life when you just blew up your own like you always do. This is...great.

Phyllis: How long does it take for Victoria to rip into Billy? He's just living his life.

Lauren: I know you're angry, but I cannot figure out who with.

Phyllis: It's just -- this is exactly what I wanted to avoid -- being caught like, you know, cheating lovers. Billy wanted to protect his ex-wife by not burning her with the truth yet, and instead of calm words, she gets an eyeful in the elevator.

Lauren: What did he say?

Phyllis: What else could he say? He admitted that we were back together.

Lauren: But...

Phyllis: I kind of feel it's only because she turned him down.

Lauren: Oh, no, no, no, no. You are not gonna do this to yourself.

Phyllis: When we had the affair, it was wrong, but it was intense, and everything was heightened. The emotions were heightened. And, I mean, now that we're out in the open, I mean, you know... this is our normal way of life.

Lauren: [Laughs] Yeah. What's the problem?

Phyllis: I'm wondering if Billy and I can even do normal.

Lauren: Don't you think you at least deserve a chance to try? I mean, if you want that.

Phyllis: I do! I do want it. But what about Billy? What if this relationship isn't as exciting without the lying or the sneaking around? I mean, how does he, you know, balance things with me with being a father to the kids? I mean, maybe the whole thing's just gonna be too much. You don't know. I mean...

Lauren: Hey, look, if you don't think he's that invested, then maybe you should back up and take some time for yourself.

Phyllis: I want this. I do. I want it. But you look at Victoria. She took her own sweet time, and look what happened. He took off. If I step back now, I might lose him, too.

Lauren: You can't build a life based on fear. If this is your man, you fight for him, but you remember, you deserve the best and do not accept anything less.

Ashley: Abby was so proud that you trusted her enough to let her lead Newman while you were away.

Victor: She did a hell of a job.

Ashley: She's been working so hard to prove her worth to you and to the company.

Victor: If she continues like this, I have big plans for our daughter.

Ashley: Well, you better treat her right, or I'm gonna steal her away from you.

Victor: You know, she's like you. She's hardworking and determined, and if she makes up her mind to do something -- ooh, boy, don't get in her way.

Ashley: [Laughs] Yeah, well... I love her. The most important thing in the world to me. And you know what, she's always gonna be my little girl, no matter how successful she becomes.

Victor: It's unlike the way your mother felt about you, isn't it?

Ashley: How long have you been waiting to say that to me?

Victor: Ever since I read it in the business news. You know, when I saw you sitting there all by yourself with a faraway look, you were thinking about Dina Mergeron, weren't you?

Gloria: I'm so sorry, jack.

Jack: Yeah, it's fine.

Gloria: No, it's not. I'm sorry I never made the connection with your family. Chloe abandoning Bella, your mother abandoning you... it's got to bring up a lot of thoughts and feelings.

Jack: Actually, I'm mostly thinking about my dad, what kind of advice he'd give me. My mother, I swear, some days, it's like she never existed. You ever meet her?

Gloria: Mnh-mnh. John talked about her, but not often. I got a glimpse when she came through town.

Jack: That's the last time I saw her. She wasn't much for staying in touch.

Gloria: Yeah. That's one selfish woman. To be so cold... I'm sorry she did that to you, jack. And your sisters. You don't get over those kind of scars.

Jack: Eh, my sisters and I did just fine.

Gloria: No. You are entitled to your anger. You are entitled to your hurt. And you're entitled to know why you had to read about your own mother online! She couldn't make a damn call like a decent mother?

Jack: I don't care. It's not a defense mechanism. I really don't care. Ashley has the anger, Ashley has the resentment. Do I wish we had a mother as we were growing up? Yeah. But we had a father who cared enough for two parents. And the truth is, we had a mother who could only look out for herself.

Neil: I've held the title of C.E.O. at more than one multi-national. With our combined drive and experience, we plan to be the next great powerhouse company. Modern and streamlined. Our focus is on creativity and innovation on the future.

Dina: And yet, you think my old-school company would be a good fit for you, hmm?

Neil: Your company is established, but it's anything but old. Under your leadership, Dina --

Dina: Madame.

Neil: Of course. Madame. Under your leadership, your company has always stayed cutting-edge. Always adjusting, maneuvering... from trade policies to your approach to new technologies.

Devon: That's right, and your streaming service is state-of-the-art and would be a tremendous asset to our entertainment division.

Dina: But you've done your homework, haven't you?

Devon: Yes, ma'am.

Dina: But you must realize your company is barely in the conceptual stage. And with the acquisition of Mergeron, well... as your first acquisition, that gives me pause. But I thank you both for coming all this way, and I hope it wasn't too inconvenient for you. But if you'll excuse me, I, uh, do have other meetings...

Neil: One second. I, um... I don't know with whom else you're meeting, but I can assure you, they won't do for you what the Hamilton-winters group will.

Dina: Which is?

Neil: Build on your legacy.

Dina: Well, I'll certainly take that into consideration, Mr. Winters. It was lovely meeting you both.

Devon: Madame Mergeron, can you wait just a second?

Devon: Don't go just yet.

Graham: Madame is on a schedule.

Devon: I'm aware. This will just take a second, though, if you hear me out.

Dina: But we've already covered the essentials.

Devon: I know that Hamilton-winters isn't another Newman enterprises and Mergeron yet, okay? What my father and I are building, it's still new, and I understand why you'd have reservations about handing your company over to us. But let me tell you something. This man right here has all of the degrees, all the titles, and experience. I didn't earn my money. I didn't work for it. It was handed to me in an inheritance that I never saw coming, which is exactly why I'm determined to deserve it and do right by it because I really believe that's that what she would have wanted.

Dina: She?

Devon: I'm sorry, my grandmother is who I'm speaking of. She was a wonderful woman, and I was actually already an adult by the time I learned that we were related. And after she passed, she left the bulk of her estate to me. And ever since then, I have just -- I've always wanted to do something with that money that would make Katherine chancellor proud.

Dina: You're Katherine chancellor's grandson?

Devon: Yes, ma'am.

Dina: Oh! Tell me more.

Gloria: Seems we are friends. Friends who talk. And maybe even friends who can tell each other the painful truth.

Jack: Oh, dear, am I gonna like this?

Gloria: You let go of the anger, jack. I applaud you for that, I truly do, but you've never really let go of the hurt. Your mother abandoned you. You're telling me you can hear those words and feel nothing? It's probably the reason you've gone through so many women. You know, you don't get too attached so you don't get too hurt when and if they leave.

Jack: Truth is, I've done most of the leaving. Until recently.

Gloria: Yeah, and that just bolsters my point.

Jack: You know what, Ashley was psychiatrist earlier today. I think I'm fully shrunk.

Gloria: You know, maybe today is a good day for a little self...

Jack: Reflection?

Gloria: Yeah. Reflection. Dina's gonna be all over the news in the coming days. The business world is going to be breathlessly reporting all of the companies that are courting her, and you, my friend, will be reading every word of it, won't you?

Jack: The wounds of the past heal. The scar tissue never disappears. It's there underneath. It's in me. Maybe it always will be.

Victor: So you and jack had no idea that your mother, Dina Mergeron, was about to sell her company?

Ashley: Not at all.

Victor: Mm.

Ashley: My mother hasn't contacted us about anything. Why would she start now?

Victor: I mean, she ran that company for 30 years. Now she's about to sell. Why?

Ashley: I have no idea! Why don't you give her a call? You know, reach out to her, one mogul to another.

Victor: [Laughing] Mogul to another... you don't want to talk about her, do you?

Ashley: You got that right.

Cane: I know this is none of my business, all right, and this is probably a tough time for you, so... if you need to take a couple of days off, you know?

Victoria: No. I'm not gonna let Billy run me out of my own business. It's not worth it.

Cane: You know, I actually thought you guys were gonna get back together.

Victoria: Yeah, so did I, but at least I don't have to waste another second wondering where we stand. And I can focus on my work.

Cane: I just want to let you know I'm here for you, all right? Whatever you need, I'm here for you, okay?

Victoria: Thank you, cane. I appreciate that. It's nice knowing that I have a colleague that I can trust, and I expect that I'm gonna be relying on you more and more in the days to come.

Billy: Hey. You know how many doors I had to knock on to find you? What are you doing in here?

Phyllis: Honestly? Hiding. How'd it go with Victoria?

Billy: It wasn't easy. But it's done.

Phyllis: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so harsh with her. You were... [Sighs] You were doing -- you were doing the right thing. You were dealing with your ex-wife, I should have just... I don't know, it's just the way she was talking to you...

Billy: She was caught off guard, Phyllis.

Phyllis: That, also, was my fault. I insisted to see you on the elevator, it was ridiculous.

Billy: Don't do that. Please. Don't do that, okay?

Phyllis: I made everything worse.

Billy: This is not your fault. I told you that I was gonna tell Victoria sooner, and I didn't. This is on me.

Phyllis: I should have stayed away until you were ready.
