Episode # 11121 ~ Victor delivers somber news; Ashley surprises Jack; Nick and Chelsea make up for lost time.

Provided By Suzanne

Chelsea: You're sure everything's okay with faith and your mom?

Nick: Positive. Like I said, it was a false alarm.

Chelsea: Good. I was worried.

Nick: What do you say, do you want to try and finish off date 3?

Chelsea: I'm sorry, I -- I didn't think you were coming back, so I sent the sitter home. I can try calling her if --

Nick: No, no, no, that -- that's why I brought the wine. I was thinking maybe we just stay here.

Chelsea: I was actually on my way upstairs to change.

Nick: Okay, uh, I'll just, um...

Chelsea: Help me with this zipper?

Murphy: This was the last letter Katherine ever wrote. But, Jill, I don't understand. If you've already read...

Esther: I didn't get a chance to tell you where we got the letter. It was --

Jill: Could you please give us some privacy, Esther?

Esther: Privacy for what? I'm just as curious as you are about what Mrs. C...

Jill: When you get a letter from Katherine's ghost, then you can be part of the conversation, okay? Just go try to figure out how to cook a filet mignon with garlic sauce in the Mediterranean-diet style.

Esther: There's so such thing.

Murphy: Well, I'm glad to see you and Esther are back in your usual corners.

Jill: Murphy, I need answers.

Murphy: But you already have them. If you found the key that was hidden in Katherine's music box...

Jill: There was no key in the music box, and I should know! I looked at that damn thing for months from every single angle!

Murphy: No, there was definitely a key in there! It opened Katherine's safe deposit box where she put the letter.

Jill: That is impossible!

Murphy: Look, if you're not gonna believe what I'm telling you, then --

Jill: Listen to me! I was so frustrated from trying to take that music box apart, I left the stupid junky thing in Katherine's park and the squirrels have it by now! Did you honestly not leave that letter in my mailbox?

Murphy: I didn't, Jill. I swear.

Jill: All right, then she told somebody else. Katherine told somebody else.

Murphy: No, no, only Katherine and I knew about the letter. Look, if I knew how that letter got into your mailbox, I would tell you.

Jill: There was no stamp, there was no address. How the hell did you pull this one off, Katherine?

Ravi: Ow!

Phyllis: Are you seeing what I'm seeing?

Ravi: Yes, it's -- it's definitely happening.

Phyllis: This is -- I never --

Ravi: Who should tell our bosses, you or me?

Jack: Remember, I will be out of town...

Ashley: In new York city meeting with our investors. I have it noted.

Jack: Yeah, but you can reach me if you need to.

Ashley: I think I can handle anything that goes on while you're gone, Jack.

Jack: Well, all the same, I'll shoot you my calendar and my contacts.

Ashley: Jackie, it's not necessary, I won't --

Jack: I need to be kept informed, ash! It's not like I'm going halfway around the world. It's not time zones that are in our way.

Ashley: You know what, thanks for the reassurance, but I think I can handle any and all crises that may or may not happen while you're gone. When I told you I was planning on having a bigger role in this company, I meant it.

Lauren: Have you heard anything?

[Door slams]

Michael: What are you doing here? I thought you were staying home to get some rest.

Lauren: I can't sleep. My son's life is in danger. Please tell me if you've heard anything.

Jill: Why didn't Katherine just leave me this letter? Why did she send me on that meaningless music box treasure hunt?

Murphy: I have no idea. She was very mysterious about all of it.

Jill: Well, why didn't you give me a clue? I asked you about the music box!

Murphy: Katherine was insistent that I let you find it yourself.

Jill: That is no excuse, Murphy.

Murphy: And she was sure you would. And you did! Boy, my wife... [Chuckles] She was brilliant.

Jill: She was brilliant and sadistic, and I still don't understand her motivation. Why? Why didn't she just give me the letter instead of sending me on that stupid treasure hunt? Why?

Murphy: She always said you were relentless, driven.

Jill: Yeah, and occasionally, she even meant that in a positive sense.

Murphy: See, she wanted to challenge you one last time, to search for the greatest treasure she should give you! Now, how did she put it? She said the content of the letter was the whole basis of your relationship.

Jill: That woman...

Murphy: Listen, I'm -- I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I know how this is distressing you.

Jill: No, Murphy, thank you very much for coming, especially considering how I used to be so...

Murphy: Yeah, well, I'll just -- I'll just say goodbye to Esther.

Jill: Wait, there's one more question.

Murphy: Well, let's hope I can answer.

Jill: In the last lines of Katherine's letter, she sounded like she was bequeathing something to me, but there was nothing in the envelope. Here. "I felt it was time that I gave you this. Phillip always wanted you to have it." What was it, Murphy? What did Phillip always want me to have?

Colin: [Sighs] David Sherman. How the hell are you?

David: What is this about, Colin?

Colin: Let's not rush into it. Sit down. You hungry? Have whatever you like.

David: [Chuckles] Yeah. And who will be paying for that?

Colin: That'd be me.

David: Ah.

Colin: So, how's life?

David: I have no stomach for breaking bread or exchanging niceties with you, so let's cut to it. I assume you're worried about Jill filing for divorce?

Colin: Has she?

David: It's inevitable. And, frankly, I've advised her to press charges and throw you in prison for grand larceny.

Colin: [Sighs] Yeah, my wife would have every right to do that.

David: Then what is the point of us meeting?

Colin: I have something here that might change Jill's mind.

Jack: Tread carefully, Ashley, I have no problem acknowledging your contribution to this company.

Ashley: How generous of you.

Jack: I do have a problem with my sister trying to pull some kind of a coup.

Ashley: That's not what I'm doing, Jackie.

Jack: You say you want a bigger role here? How are you going to accomplish that?

Ashley: I'm looking out for the best interest of our family.

Jack: Oh, and I'm not?

Ashley: Somebody has to make sure you don't make any more misguided decisions.

Jack: Misguided?

Ashley: The Fenmore's deal.

Jack: It will pay off!

Ashley: Not soon enough. Meanwhile, we're bleeding money as Fenmore's continues to deplete our resources.

Jack: Why can't you just trust me?

Ashley: There's lots of reasons, but primarily because you entrusted company secrets to a woman who tried to steal our company and our home.

Jack: Ashley --

Ashley: Not a good time.

Ravi: Apologies. Please excuse us.

Phyllis: No, no, this can't wait.

Jack: Phyllis, come on in. What is it?

Ashley: Jack!

Ravi: We can come back, perhaps even make an appointment.

Phyllis: No, the hell with that. It's a hit. Fenmore's virtual dressing room app has exceeded all expectations.

Ashley: Already?

Jack: They're right. Wow, look at these numbers.

Phyllis: Yeah, they're staggering. There's not only hefty increase in our products, I mean they're bought --

Ashley: Oh, my God. Customer spending, the referrals...

Phyllis: Even with brides-to-be.

Ashley: Well, even with your updated website, how did you handle all the activity?

Ravi: By combining code, reducing number of plug-ins, minimizing dependency requests...

Phyllis: Bottom-line it, Ravi.

Ravi: We handled all the traffic without a single crash.

Phyllis: Right, which in dollars and cents translates to...

Jack: Millions.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Ashley: This is all because of you, Ravi. Once again, congratulations on an amazing and profitable accomplishment.

Ravi: Thank you, but Phyllis had the original idea. I have to share the credit.

Ashley: Huh. Anyway, Jack, um... I guess I have to eat crow. You were right. I was wrong.

Jack: Would you like that fried or broiled?

Ashley: Well, anyway, looks like it was a smart move to invest in Fenmore's after all.

Jack: I appreciate your acknowledging that.

Ravi: Phyllis pulled an all-nighter with me beta-testing every worst-case scenario to make sure the app was launched on time.

Ashley: Hmm, that's her job.

Phyllis: Are you saying I don't deserve any credit or congratulations?

Ashley: Credit for stealing my idea and my programmer to make it happen?

Phyllis: Your idea?

Lauren: When the Newman jet lands, that's when the kidnappers will release Scott to Kevin, right?

Victor: [Sighs] Lauren, this could take quite a while, okay?

Lauren: Why? They'll have their money.

Michael: Kevin will be directed to a checkpoint.

Lauren: And that's when they'll release Scott.

Victor: Yeah, but wait a minute. That checkpoint may be the first of many to come.

Michael: We have no choice but to follow the kidnappers' instructions.

Victor: You look very tired. I know it's not easy to find sleep.

Michael: But it's what your body needs and, really, at this point, there's nothing more you can do.

Lauren: I know, but my son's life is in danger and -- I -- I'm not leaving.

Victor: You're stressed out. I understand why. So the least you can do now is go upstairs to the top of the tower restaurant and get something to eat.

Lauren: You know, what is going on with the two of you? Why are you trying to get me to leave? Do you not want me by the phone when Kevin's call comes? Why?

Michael: Lauren, we just want you to take care of --

Lauren: No. No. You're afraid I'm gonna hear something horrible, right?

Victor: We are concerned for your health.

Lauren: You don't think that Victor's plan is gonna work.

Michael: We will bring Scott home.

Lauren: Okay. I know you'll be honest with me when my husband won't. Tell me the truth, Victor.

Victor: I cannot promise you that your son will come back safely.

Lauren: Scott put himself in this danger. When he took the job as a journalist overseas... I kept telling him I wish that he would have chosen another profession. Just -- I wanted him to have a normal, safe, secure life, you know?

Michael: [Chuckles] Well, you know where your big mistake was -- you raised a courageous son.

Lauren: [Laughs]

Michael: Who feels it's his responsibility to report the truth.

Victor: When all's been said and done, we should be grateful that there's still a lot of brave young men and women around who are willing to search for the truth and tell it.

Lauren: I just wish it wasn't my son who was risking his life.

Victor: I understand that.

Lauren: To save the world.

Abby: Dad, we have a real crisis on our hands. Um, I'm sorry to interrupt. I --

Victor: Sweetheart, I'm --

Abby: This is about the Gunderson deal, and I know how important that is to you.

Victor: Well, now, the Gunderson deal should not be critical. Why don't you go and handle it yourself, okay?

Nick: Thank you.

Chelsea: You're welcome. So, tell me about this false alarm at the ranch.

Nick: Uh, my daughter decided to manufacture a family emergency.

Chelsea: Why would she do that?

Nick: She knew we were on a date.

Chelsea: Oh. I thought -- I thought faith liked me.

Nick: She does. A lot.

Chelsea: So what did she say?

Nick: Well, I didn't, uh, get into it with her tonight. My mom wanted to handle it.

Chelsea: [Sighs] Well, you should have stayed there and you should have -- you should have handled it with her. You didn't have to come here and check on me, nick.

Nick: Chelsea, I'm gonna talk to faith tomorrow, and we'll get it cleared up.

Chelsea: And how you are gonna do that, nick? How are you gonna be able to clear things up if your daughter has a problem with you and me being together?

Phyllis: Fenmore's virtual dressing room app was my idea, Ashley.

Ashley: That's what you keep saying.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm, came directly out of conversations I had with Lauren, had nothing to do with you.

Ashley: Yeah, except your virtual dressing room is exactly like JabotGo except for one small tweak -- clothing instead of cosmetics.

Phyllis: Uh, not even close.

Ashley: And it wouldn't have gotten off the ground if it wasn't for my discovery Ravi and his brilliant work.

Phyllis: There you go again, talking about Ravi like he's an object, like he's a new warehouse for Jabot.

Ravi: If I may --

Ashley: You know, you couldn't exactly invite a warehouse out to celebrate your success, could you? Ravi, would you like to go out on the town with me?

Ravi: Really? Me?

Ashley: Mm-hmm. Jack, you want to join us?

Jack: Uh, no, I have to get ready for my trip, thank you. Uh, Ravi, great job.

Phyllis: [Sighs] Don't mind me, I'm too tired from staying up all night getting this app up and running to accept praise or to go out partying...

Ashley: Bye, Jack!

Jack: Phyllis. You did a great job, too.

Phyllis: Thank you. Too bad your sister has an attitude from hell!

Jack: Ashley is well-aware of your contributions, even though she's not able to admit to herself. Look, I knew this concept of yours was groundbreaking from the moment I saw it. It's why I pursued Fenmore's.

Phyllis: Thank you. Sounds like almost your feelings have shifted, as well.

Jack: In what way?

Phyllis: Maybe you don't even mind me working here.

Jack: For now.

Phyllis: You think this shift is because you've moved on? Admit it, Jack. There's a certain new someone in your life, isn't there?

Abby: I don't know what I just walked in on, but, dad, this is very urgent. The team at Gunderson is demanding an immediate answer on over a dozen proposed changes to their deal.

Victor: Sweetheart.

Michael: Actually, a dinner upstairs sounds exactly like what we could use right now.

Lauren: Um... oh, uh, Michael's right. You'll call us if...

Victor: Of course we will, okay?

Lauren: All right. Thank you.

Victor: Top of the tower, all right? Good food. You need it.

Abby: Are they okay?

Victor: Well, let me put it this way -- they are in a rather difficult situation, personally.

Abby: Well, I'm sorry I interrupted, but this deal, dad, it is very important.

Victor: Now, why do you think I have a reputation of driving a hard bargain?

Abby: Because you don't cave.

Victor: You bet. Now, you use that reputation, all right? Take advantage of it.

Abby: Okay. [Sighs] Dad, um, and I should tell Gunderson what, exactly?

Victor: You tell Gunderson that I don't like it when schedules are changed. They abide by our timetable, not theirs. Otherwise, they're tanking the negotiations. There's no deal. You got it?

Abby: Okay, um, well, I'm not sure they'll buy that because of how rattled I was before, but, um... you know what? I will stay strong and I will close this deal for us, dad. That's a promise.

Victor: You know, sweetheart, I adore you, and you're very good at what you do, but there are a few things you still got to learn. You got to be tough.

Abby: [Sighs]

David: [Chuckles] While I admire your attempt to run yet another con, Colin, it won't work.

Colin: There are no games being played here, David.

David: You expect me to believe that...

Colin: Hear me out. Because Jill won't. This is no scam. Here is a cashier's check made out to Jill for the exact amount of money that I borrowed...

David: [Chuckles]

Colin: ...Stole.

David: Yeah. And where exactly did this sudden windfall come from?

Colin: It's all quite legal.

David: Somehow, I doubt that.

Colin: That check's good, David. Now, all that matter is that Jill gets back every penny that I've taken.

Jill: Come on, Murphy! If you don't know what Katherine would have left me from Phillip, how am I ever gonna find out? [Groans] I swear, if this another stupid treasure hunt, I will find a way to haunt you in heaven.

Murphy: Aw, sometimes you sound exactly like her.

Jill: Why did she do this? Come on! You knew she wrote the letter. She must have told you some details.

Murphy: Well, from what little she did share with me, I'm absolutely certain that this was the ultimate goal -- for you to find the safe deposit box and the contents.

Jill: [Sighs] So, whoever found the music box also found the key. And then they went to the safety deposit box and they stole my true inheritance. And then, out of guilt, they left me the letter. [Sighs] Oh, Murph... I'm so sorry.

Murphy: I miss her. What an incredible woman.

Jill: Incredibly infuriating.

Murphy: Mm. Is that how you felt after you read the letter? See, I don't know what she wrote, except that it involved Phillip chancellor. I mean, I -- I know what that letter meant to her. I mean, she agonized over every syllable.

Jill: Did she really?

Murphy: And when she was done, she seemed...lighter. You remember I told you all about her bucket list?

Jill: Yeah, yeah, yeah. All those months she spent seeing and doing things that she'd never been able to do?

Murphy: Yeah, see, what I left out was that before Stonehenge, before the pyramids, before even the great wall of china, the first thing on her list, Jill, was to make peace with you.

Nick: This isn't the first time faith has meddled into my love life. She did the same thing with Avery.

Chelsea: You broke off your engagement to Avery.

Nick: Not because of faith. It was the same thing with sage, you know? But after a while, faith grew to adore her.

Chelsea: I -- I think we'd lying to ourselves to think that faith would be okay with us ever being together. I -- I just -- I think we need to respect her feelings.

Nick: Respect them, yes, but I'm not gonna let my daughter dictate my life.

Chelsea: But if she's upset, nick, then --

Nick: Chelsea, it's gonna be okay. Faith is older now. And she likes you.

Chelsea: Well, then why is she suddenly... oh, I know why, because of Dylan. Dylan left.

Nick: She doesn't want her mom to be alone.

Chelsea: And what better guy for her mom than her dad?

Nick: Sharon and I, that is never gonna happen again, ever, and faith needs to understand that.

Chelsea: I just feel like we are making a very complicated situation even more complicated, and that is the last thing that I want to do.

Nick: Chelsea, you don't -- you don't complicate things for me. You make things very, very clear. You're my call at the end of the day. You help me see the things that count, that matter, and that make me happy. Nothing makes me happier than when I get to see you. I don't want to slow things down. But if it's going too fast, you know... if it's a problem, I can just --

Phyllis: Come on, now. You can tell me the truth.

Jack: The truth is, whom I spend time with is none of your business.

Phyllis: Aw, at least you're not trying to convince me it's Gloria again.

Jack: Boy, you do have an active imagination.

Phyllis: Uh, no, you were the one who used romancing Gloria as your cover story. That took imagination.

Jack: Weren't you about to leave?

Phyllis: Yes, I'm going. Look, I -- I just don't want you to think that I'm thinking you and me, in any way...

Jack: I'm not.

Phyllis: Good. Well, I am gonna go pop a bottle of wine open and I am gonna check out some fabulous Fenmore gowns...virtually.

Jack: Knock yourself out.

Phyllis: Mm.

[Cell phone chimes]

Phyllis: [Gasps] Are you gonna pretend that there's no new woman in your life, still?

Ashley: Well, of course I knew you were brilliant. But what you did with Fenmore's is so unbelievable. I mean, all I can say is here's to you, Ravi.

Ravi: To me.

Ashley: Yes. To you!

Ravi: Cheers.

Ashley: Hi! What are you doing here?

Abby: I'm just wondering what I walked in on.

Ravi: We had an excellent day.

Ashley: Amazing. Fenmore's virtual changing room is a huge hit, Abby.

Abby: Congratulations. I'm happy for you. For both of you.

Ashley: Thank you. Come join us.

Abby: You know what, that's okay, I was -- I was just gonna grab a drink, and, uh...

Ashley: Something's going on with you, I can tell. Sit down.

Abby: Is she this pushy with you?

Ravi: Yeah. I mean, no. Occasionally.

Ashley: What's going on?

Abby: Let's just say that my work day didn't go quite as well as yours. Um, it's not easy working for dad.

Ashley: Well, that can't be too surprising. But I do have a solution. Come work for your mom.

Abby: [Sighs]

Murphy: You think writing that letter was easy for her? It wasn't.

Jill: It hurts me to know that she put herself through all that pain. If she had just come to me...

Murphy: You would have fought.

Jill: Well, of course we would have fought! We would have screamed and yelled and thrown things, but she would have known because I would have told her how incredibly grateful I was that Phillip loved me. But if -- if we'd just had it out, it would have changed everything.

Murphy: Yeah, well, look, I don't know what drove my wife to make those decisions, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I loved her because she was unpredictable.

Jill: You know, when I found that necklace that she left me, there was a note that said, "wear this well on your journey to find out what was really important." The words in this letter, her heartfelt confession, this is what's really important. But the fact that she waited and she hid it -- do you know I might never have found it if that person who found it hadn't given it to me?

Murphy: Well, maybe she didn't say the words face to face because she wanted to avoid that last knock-down, drag-out fight. This is the only way she could have the last word.

Jill: That old broad, she knew me so well. I do want the last word.

Murphy: You still want to argue with her, hmm? Blast her memory for the hoops she made you jump through?

Jill: My last word would be plain and simple -- I love you, Katherine, and I'm sorry, too.

Chelsea: I can't really believe it.

Nick: What?

Chelsea: Us. Being like this.

Nick: Yeah.

Chelsea: I mean, I -- it was something I had thought a lot about, and it was something I wanted, but...

Nick: You were afraid?

Chelsea: I guess so.

Nick: And now?

Chelsea: I'm not afraid anymore.

Nick: Good. Because I know what I want.

Chelsea: I never thought that I would... ...anyone would make me feel this way again. What's wrong?

Abby: I'm very thankful that you would like to work together again, but I think I need to stick where I am. Dad's placed a lot of trust in me, and I'm the only kid he's got still working for him.

Ashley: I know. Is it really that important to you that you're your father's heir apparent?

Abby: Well, it was that important to you with your dad. It still is.

Ashley: Okay, but I have to caution you once again, that if you're waiting to get your father's seal of approval, it could take a very long time to happen, if ever.

Ravi: All the more reason to work for your mother. She's a great boss and she isn't shy with her praise.

Ashley: Thank you.

Colin: Ashley. I was about to call you.

Ashley: How are you, Colin?

Colin: Uh, I wanted to say that, um, Jill's about ready to make good on that offer for Jabot's investment in Fenmore's.

Ashley: Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but that deal is no longer on the table.

Esther: You could stay. There's room.

Jill: At least join us for dinner.

Murphy: I appreciate the offer, but there are -- there are just t many memories in the house.

Jill: Yeah, I understand, but don't be a stranger, okay? You're welcome here anytime, Murphy.

Murphy: [Sighs] Bye!

Jill: I'm sorry that I was a little brusque with you before.

Esther: You're actually apologizing to me?

Jill: Uh, just this once. Boy, I sure am glad that you called Murphy.

Esther: Some answers are better than none.

Jill: Yeah, I guess, except it's still a mystery.

Jack: I would appreciate it if you'd stop making assumptions about my personal life.

Phyllis: Oh, but I'm having so much fun.

Jack: I think our chilly rapport suited me better.

Phyllis: Relax, Jack. Whoever it was that just texted you right now, I genuinely hope she makes you happy.

Abby: Ravi, um, you're an amazing guy. You're brilliant, you're talented...

Ravi: But?

Abby: If you're hoping for some sort of "thing" with my mom...

Ravi: Wait, you think -- you think your mother and I... no. No. No, no, no. You -- I have no such desires on your mother. We are friends -- we're co-workers. We are co-workers and that's all. [Clears throat] Yeah.

Abby: Good, because you are gonna make a woman really happy one day. It's just, um... well, it's not gonna be my mom.

Colin: You know, I really feel you should honor your commitment to Jill and sell her your company's interest in Fenmore's.

Ashley: You're right. It just wouldn't be a very smart decision, given the sudden influx of profits that we've gotten from Fenmore's today.

Colin: Today?

Ashley: Yes. Today. I know, I find it shocking, too. Actually, I probably should thank you because if you hadn't stolen Jill's money, then we would have sold our Fenmore's shares and Jill would be reaping the rewards, so... thank you.

Jill: This was so thoughtful of you to come by.

David: Of course. You seem to be recuperating well.

Jill: Yeah, I'm just a little tired, that's all.

David: Okay. I just need to know that your heart can withstand a shock.

Jill: Tell me.

David: This is yours, courtesy of your husband. Colin was adamant about paying you back everything he took from you, but, frankly, I'm baffled by how he came up with liquid funds so quickly. And he wouldn't explain it.

Jill: [Laughs] No, he wouldn't, but I know exactly how he paid me back.

Lauren: I can't stand this. What is taking so long?

Michael: Hey. Come here. We're gonna hear something soon, all right? Soon!

[Computer chimes]

Victor: Oh, wait a minute. This is Kevin. Kevin, what's going on?

Kevin: I have news. Are Michael and Lauren there?

Victor: Yes.

Lauren: Yes! Yes, we're here! Where are you?

Michael: What's happening, Kevin?

Kevin: As soon as I got here, I touched base with Victor's contact. They have resources ready on the ground.

Lauren: They're helping you?

Kevin: Yeah, thanks to Victor. I made it to the checkpoint, just waiting for word to be taken to the next location, and I will call as soon as I have Scott.

Are we closer? Are we almost there? Taking over stillness I can't bear just waiting for something I'm waiting for the tides to change I'm waiting for you to call out my name go or stay? Do you know me? Desperate for dry land waiting for something I'm waiting for the tides to change for the clouds to break thunder and lightning shake for you to call my name go or stay?

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Sharon: Nick had something he had to do.

Faith: He did. He had a date.

Colin: All right, wait! Please. Don't.

Lauren: If the kidnappers ran, they think we double-crossed them. What if my son pays the price for that?
