Victoria: [Sighs] Reed! I found your capo thing. Reed? Reed![Doorbell rings]
Nikki: Guess what just happened to me.
Victoria: Something good?
Nikki: Your mother has just been selected to chair the better days fundraiser. You know? Better days. It's a very important organization.
Victoria: Oh, yeah, of course, mom. Yeah, they do great work. Yeah.
Nikki: Yes, they do. And even though I'm aware you are very busy, I was hoping that you would help me come up with some new fundraising ideas for all the events.
Victoria: Mom, now's really not a good time, all right?
Nikki: Why? What's going on?
Victoria: I wish I knew.
Nikki: Well, what is it?
Victoria: Mom, do you think I'm a cold person?
Paul: So this is proof that Dylan was here.
Christine: Not necessarily.
Paul: Chris, you just told me that Dylan wore this bracelet undercover as part of his Derek persona.
Christine: Yes, but... there has to be another explanation why it was there.
Paul: Like what?
Christine: I don't know, but there has to be another logical explanation. Paul, we can't believe that --
Paul: Believe what, Chris? The truth? That Dylan was probably attacked here and dragged to God knows where by Fisk's cronies that were doing God knows what to him? I mean, if we don't find him soon, I...
Christine: You have to keep reminding yourself that Dylan is strong. He wouldn't have given up. And neither should you.
Neil: [Shivers]
Lily: Dad! Hey!
Neil: Hey, hey! You about to head home?
Lily: Uh, no. Do you have a minute?
Neil: Yeah. Yeah, sure. What's up? What's -- wait. No. Let me guess. Hilary and Devon.
Lily: No. No, no, no. I have news. I have great news, actually. You are looking at the recently appointed brand ambassador for brash & sassy!'s men's line.
Neil: What? You -- that's fantastic!
Lily: [Laughs]
Neil: Oh, my God!
Lily: I know, I can hardly believe it! I'll be doing appearances all over the country, even the world. I'm doing print, commercials...
Neil: Congratulations. When did this happen?
Lily: Today.
Neil: Why didn't you mention it?
Lily: Well, no, it was random. I guess the model that they were gonna use, she got stuck at the airport in new York, and so they called me in and I did such a great job that they offered me a contract.
Neil: I am so proud of you.
Lily: Thank you. Although, there is just one little problem.
Cane: If you and I are gonna have any chance of being civil with each other, it's not gonna happen if you keep pulling that crap you did today, do you understand me?
Billy: What'd I do?
Cane: You know what you did. You went behind my back and you gave my wife a job. Don't do that.
Billy: Not sure why that's such a bad thing, Cane. You said you didn't have a problem with it.
Cane: What was I supposed to say, Billy? Huh? You saw how excited she was. And you and Jill and Victoria, you made it like it was a done deal, so if I try to rein it in, I would look like one of those guys --
Billy: Like a guy who doesn't want his wife to succeed?
Cane: I'm not like that and you know that, so don't do that. You blindsided me and you did deliberately.
Victoria: All these toys. [Sighs] Oh, thanks, Mom.
Nikki: You're welcome.
Victoria: Come on. Let's, uh, talk. What are you gonna be doing for this charity?
Nikki: Um, I want to talk about that in a minute. First, we're going to deal with this nonsense of you thinking you're a cold person.
Victoria: Well, that's what Reed said, after he accused me of being mean. And an ice queen.
Nikki: What'd you do to him?
Victoria: Why does everybody immediately assume that I'm the one at fault?
Nikki: What do you mean? Who's everybody?
Victoria: Do you know what I did to him, mom? I did what my son asked me to do. I left him in charge of his brother and sister, and when I got him, do you know what he was doing?
Nikki: Something involving a girl.
Victoria: He was making out with -- how did you know that?
Nikki: I've raised teenagers, dear. 10 years... ...that took 30 off my life.
Victoria: It's reasonable for me to think that Reed would realize that there's a time and a place for that kind of thing, and it's not when he's got his little brother and sister upstairs.
Nikki: Well, what time or place would you prefer?
Victoria: I don't know, mom. In the privacy of his own home. With his wife. After he's gotten his doctorate.
Nikki: Oh, I see. So he should be at least 30.
Victoria: Is that really too much for me to ask? Oh, I see. You think that I'm overreacting. I get it.
Nikki: Darling.
Victoria: Mm-hmm?
Nikki: I think you're hurt. And I suspect there's something more behind it than Reed calling you cold.
Victoria: I don't think that's the part that really got to me. [Sighs] It's Billy. We got in a fight. He overheard the whole thing.
Nikki: And he took Billy's side instead of yours.
Victoria: Mom, I know it's silly, I do. And it wasn't what Reed said that bothered me. I've been called worse things. But he's just made Billy out to be this saint, and -- I feel like I'm the bad guy.
Chief, forensics is ready to wrap things up.
Paul: Well, they can't do that.
But we haven't found anything else.
Well, tell them to keep looking. I mean, not just around the warehouse. Tell them to check the entire area. Knock on doors, check the street cameras. And if forensics still can't find anything, then broaden the search!
[Scoffs]
[Cell phone rings]
Christine: Did they find something else?
Paul: [Sighs] No, but it's not for lack of trying. You know, between the locals and the feds, they're working full out.
Christine: So are you.
Paul: Yeah, but I'm not contributing much anymore. I, uh... I should really get back and fill in Nikki and Sharon about...
Christine: I can tell them.
Paul: You know, I really love you for the offer, but this should come from me. I'll just, um...catch the first plane I can.
Christine: [Sighs] Just be careful. Fisk's people are still out there.
Paul: Yeah, I will. They could still be watching.
Dylan: It's important nobody can see us.
Sharon: Nobody? Are you talking about our friends and our family?
Dylan: Do you know how often I thought about you? How much I missed you? Do you like it?
Sharon: Yeah. I'll get used to it. I'm glad you closed the curtains and locked the doors because... we're gonna stay in this house our whole lives.
Dylan: Yeah? What are we gonna live on? Love?
Sharon: We could. We have enough of it to last us.
Dylan: Yeah, from this lifetime on into the next.
Sharon: I just want to stay in this -- in this world of us for a whole day or a week. But I know it's selfish, not calling anyone and tell them you're here. I mean, everyone's missed you so much -- the kids and Nikki and even Kevin.
Dylan: Kevin just missed me bribing him with doughnuts, that's all.
Sharon: I don't want anyone intruding on this moment.
Dylan: Not anyone or anything.
Sharon: I'm never gonna let you go.
Dylan: Ow. [Inhales sharply]
Sharon: What? What's wrong?
Dylan: Nothing. Nothing.
Sharon: Are you hurt? Let me see.
Dylan: [Gasps]
Sharon: I'll grab our coats.
Dylan: Sharon, I'm all right.
Sharon: Well, I'm gonna take you to the hospital.
Dylan: You can't.
Sharon: What do mean, I can't?
Dylan: I -- I just meant that it's no big deal. I just got clipped in a fight.
Sharon: Clipped how?
Dylan: Please, just -- no emergency room, okay? It's not necessary. Just come -- just come sit down with me. What are you doing?
Sharon: Well, I'm gonna call stitch. If you won't go the hospital...
Dylan: No! Please don't -- don't look at me like that, okay? I just want to go back to the world of us that we were talking about. Can you blame me? Come on.
Sharon: Tell me how you got hurt.
Dylan: Right now?
Sharon: How else will I know how to kiss it and make it better?
Dylan: We'll figure that out.
Sharon: You know what? We can't --
Dylan: What?
Sharon: I -- we can't do this when this assignment is still in the room with us.
Dylan: It's -- it's not.
Sharon: I want you to tell me everything that happened to you
Dylan: Uh, I mean, that would take a while.
Sharon: We've got years. Decades, even. You must be hungry.
Dylan: No, I'm not.
Sharon: Are you thirsty? I can get you a beer or I can make you a -- mmm. What are you doing, detective McAvoy?
Dylan: I'm seducing you, Mrs. McAvoy. Convincing you that I am fine.
Sharon: Mmm, I'm convinced.
Dylan: What -- what are you doing?
Sharon: You know what, I at least have to call faith. I don't want her to spend another night thinking that we broke up.
Dylan: Wait, what do you mean, broke up?
Sharon: Well, you weren't here, and I can't explain, but I'm just gonna make a quick call to Mariah and faith, and then you and can I settle in...
Dylan: Sharon. We can't tell anybody I'm back.
Lily: Sorry that took so long. I had to approve a room upgrade and run interference on a catering emergency.
Neil: Yeah, no problem. Hey, let me ask you something. How are you gonna handle your management duties here while you are traveling the globe, being an ambassador for brash & sassy!'S men's line?
Lily: [Sighs] Well, yeah, that's my problem. I'm really nervous about telling Devon that I'm leaving.
Neil: Well, just tell him. I'm sure he'd want you to be happy.
Lily: I know, but he just has so much going on right now. Maybe I should push my start date.
Neil: Is that even an option?
Lily: I can ask.
Neil: No offense, but I'm sure Devon can find someone to replace you. He wouldn't want to hold you back on this because of him. I mean, really, if he can handle all the money that Katherine gave him, I'm sure he can handle your departure, baby.
Lily: I hope so. So, Cane -- he must be as excited as you are about this, seeing he had a hand in hiring you.
Lily: Um -- [Clears throat] Actually, he didn't. It was Jill, Billy, and Victoria.
Neil: What? How does he feel about it?
Lily: Great. Yeah, we celebrated earlier.
Neil: Yeah? Oh, good. I'm happy about that. That's a relief.
Lily: Why do you say it like that?
Neil: I don't know. No reason. Okay, look. Try not to worry about anything. All right? You just be a good girl, do you, and I love you very much.
Lily: I love you, too.
Neil: Okay. I'll talk to you later. Bye.
Lily: All right. Bye.
Billy: Our new ambassador for the brand is Lily Ashby. No, you're gonna have to wait till tomorrow for more details. Okay, I'll talk to you then. Why don't you stop glowering at me?
Cane: I'm not glowering at you.
Billy: Well, whatever it is you're doing, it's misguided, okay? Jill's the one that hired Lily after our other model canceled.
Cane: Yeah, I'm sure you encouraged her hire, though, didn't you?
Billy: What if I did, Cane?
Cane: You should have given me the heads up.
Billy: What, ask your permission to hire the "little woman?"
Cane: Don't imply I'm trying to hold her back.
Billy: Good, because look at her. She's perfect for this ad campaign.
Cane: That is not the point.
Billy: Then what is the point?
Cane: The point is, we are supposed to be equal partners in this business, right? So I should be entitled to this decision.
Billy: Well, we did have time because this campaign launches in a few weeks.
Cane: Oh, really? So you had no time to make one lousy phone call --
Billy: No, I didn't, just like I don't have time for this conversation, okay? You're always on me about doing my job, so why don't you get out of my face and let me do it?
Victoria: Well, the kids fell asleep watching a movie surrounded by empty bags of junk food provided by guess who?
Nikki: He who worships saint Billy?
Victoria: [Sighs] What did you tell Reed about it?
Victoria: Mom, I just didn't have the strength to get into it with him over the merits of good nutrition. Besides, he would just ask Billy, who would order him a pizza while they talked it out. [Sighs] God, Billy can do no wrong in his eyes, and I can't seem to do anything right.
Nikki: Perhaps that's because you haven't given your son the unadulterated history of your ex.
Victoria: Well, as much as I'd like to, I don't want to disappoint Reed. I don't want to tell him the truth about Billy's gambling and his affairs.
Nikki: It's because you're a kind, warm, compassionate person.
Victoria: [Chuckles] Says my mother...
Nikki: ...Who's always right.
Victoria: Reed needs a man in his life that he can count on. If Billy's it, then so be it.
Nikki: And you really trust Billy to not do or say something to ruin that friendship?
[Electric guitar wails]
Victoria: [Groans] Reed! Reed, would you please turn that thing down?
Dylan: No one knows I'm here. And the people I was dealing with... they can never find out.
Sharon: Christine said that you found the necessary evidence to make an arrest.
Dylan: That's right. I did.
Sharon: Okay, so what's the problem? If the bad guys are in jail...
Dylan: They found out I was working undercover.
Sharon: How did that happen?
Dylan: [Sighs] I mean, things were going according to plan, and... and I did get the information to Christine, but then... it just all went south.
Dylan: Hey. What's going on? Our business is done, right?
Alex: Not quite. Seems you've been running a game, "Derek."
Stan: Press play.
Fisk: Bring the car around. Take our friend Derek to pier 13. Shipment's on the Esmerelda. Registered in panama. You got all that?
Dylan: I recorded our meet. So what?
Alex: So you're caught.
Dylan: Alex. Come on. You remember the bugs you found in my room. I already told you, my boss is a maniac about protecting his back.
Alex: The feds were waiting at the pier and raided the Esmerelda.
Dylan: They what?
Alex: Fisk was arrested. And now I know why.
Dylan: What, you think I --
Alex: Yeah, Derek. You're the one who sent the feds there. You're one of them.
Sharon: So that's how you got hurt. But you were able to get away.
Dylan: Yeah. For now.
Sharon: Dylan. Do these people know who you really are?
Dylan: [Groans] Not yet.
Sharon: You know, you're talking like your assignment is not over yet, but you're home, you're safe.
Dylan: Because they're not gonna stop trying to find out who I am!
Sharon: What are you saying?
Dylan: I'm saying... that I couldn't live with myself if I led these type of guys to our front door.
Billy: You should take your complaint straight to Jill and leave me out of it.
Cane: Yeah, well, it all began with you, didn't it?
Billy: How the hell do you figure that, Cane?
Cane: Well, you're the one who hired Lily to be the brand ambassador for the men's line in the first place.
Billy: You know what, let me ask you a question -- are you more upset that you weren't in on the hiring or that we hired your wife?
Cane: Stay out of my relationship with Lily, Billy.
Billy: Cane, you're the one that brought it up.
Cane: Stay out of my relationship with my wife and don't talk to me like I'm some sort of subordinate and you're the one that runs the company, do you understand me?
Billy: I'm the one that runs the company? Man, that's your lane. You take every chance you get, like the "GC buzz" interview.
Cane: Oh, the one you walked out of because you wanted to behave like a baby? You're talking about that interview?
Billy: You're still upset 'cause you thought you were gonna be on the top all by yourself...
Cane: I'm not, but obviously you are. You are, aren't you?
Billy: Because I'm the one that knows talent around here.
Cane: I would never have gone behind your back and manipulated you the way you manipulated me.
Billy: Are you kidding me?
Cane: No, I'm not kidding you.
Victoria: Gosh, mom, I wish you could just wave your magic wand and make Reed 8 again.
Nikki: Darling, you stopped believing in my magic wand when you were 2. But I do have some advice for you, if you want to hear it.
Victoria: Yes, please.
Nikki: Reed hasn't lived here very long, okay? This is all very new to him, and he's trying to find his place in the family. He's testing you, Victoria. That's what teenagers do. So just give him a little time. Give yourself some time. In fact, why don't you give yourself a break?
Victoria: I'll try, but it's hard to put up with this. I mean, I never had these issues when I was his age.
Nikki: [Laughs] Oh!
Nikki: [Sighs, chuckles]
Victoria: Why do you think that's so funny, mom?
Nikki: [Sighs] Well, my darling, apparently you have a short memory.
Victoria: I was never a bad kid.
Nikki: Uh, well, then why did I always get phone calls from the headmaster of your boarding school?
Victoria: Because I was totally misunderstood, that's why.
Nikki: Victoria. You rallied your friends and orchestrated a raid on the boys' boarding school.
Victoria: Oh, mom. That? Come on. That was just a bunch of girls trying to have some harmless fun.
Nikki: And then you deliberately started failing your classes, hoping to be expelled so that you could come home and undermine your father's marriage to Ashley.
Victoria: Which was completely out of my love and loyalty for you, mom.
Nikki: Uh-huh, and apparently you have forgotten how young you were when you became sexually active.
Victoria: Oh, gosh! Okay, please, mom. Shh. I haven't forgotten any of that. I was a terrible teenager who tested my parents' limits. I know that, just --
Nikki: And beyond.
Victoria: That's what scares me about Reed. [Sighs] What if he is as bad as I was? What if he's worse?
Nikki: Oh, honey. Look how you turned out. So accomplished and responsible. I couldn't ask for a better daughter, and those kids up there could not have a better mother.
Victoria: I had the best mom. I got lucky.
Nikki: And Reed has you. You, who made all the mistakes and accomplished so much in spite of them. Now, look -- Reed is gonna have growing pains, it's inevitable.
Victoria: I just don't want him to make a mistake that's gonna ruin his life, that's all.
Nikki: Well, you will keep an eye on him, and you and I will both pray so that that doesn't happen. But you've got to give him time and space to negotiate that period between boy and man. And while you're at it, why don't you just give him a break?
Victoria: [Sighs] Okay. I will try to be more understanding.
Nikki: Good.
Victoria: Tomorrow. Tonight, I have to get back to the office.
Nikki: Oh, well, why didn't you tell me that? I wouldn't have kept you.
Victoria: No, mom. I'm so glad you did. I really needed this chat. It was really -- it was what I needed.
Nikki: Is Hannah gonna watch the kids?
Victoria: Uh, no. Hannah -- that's why I'm here. Hannah had a family emergency, and I should have never trusted Reed to watch the kids. I should have trusted my instincts, is what I should have done.
Nikki: Okay, wait. So Hannah is not available?
Victoria: No, she's not. And I don't know where I'm gonna find a sitter this late notice.
Nikki: Victoria.
Victoria: Yeah.
Nikki: I'm -- I'm right here. See me?
Victoria: Oh. Oh, mom, you don't mind?
Nikki: Well, of course not! You know, I can do my charity planning here as well as at the ranch.
Victoria: Oh, thank you. You're a lifesaver. Thank you. Um...
Nikki: You're welcome.
Victoria: You know, it's gonna be fine. The kids probably won't wake up unless their brother starts playing the guitar again. As far as Reed goes, you know, he's...
Nikki: We're gonna be fine, Victoria.
Victoria: Okay. Great.
Nikki: I promise. All right. I love you.
Victoria: Thanks, mom. I love you back. I'll be right back.
Nikki: Okay.
[Door closes]
Reed: Oh, hey.
Nikki: Oh, hey, Reed!
Reed: Um, I wasn't expecting to see you here, grandma.
Nikki: Thought you'd have the place to yourself again, huh? Well, it's just you and me. That's nice, isn't it?
Lily: Hey.
Cane: Hey.
Lily: Is everything okay?
Cane: Yeah. Yeah. Everything's fine. You know how Billy and I are. We can't even agree if it's day or night, you know, right, bill?
Billy: What he says.
Cane: So, hey, I was gonna call you and, uh, tell you I spoke to Cindy, and she can stay with the twins, so I am going to take my beautiful wife out for dinner.
Lily: Oh, thank you. What a great way to celebrate my new job.
Cane: Indeed. Come on. Let's go.
Lily: Oh, actually, I came by because I wanted to discuss the schedule for my photo shoots and appearances.
Billy: Well, I have time now if you want.
Cane: No, no, no, no, no. Pleasure before business. You guys can talk about that another time. Come on, let's go.
Sharon: You can't really believe that these people are gonna come after us.
Dylan: I know they will.
Sharon: But, Dylan, this is over, the main guy was arrested.
Dylan: Sharon. Sharon. This is just where it starts. The FBI's been trying to put this guy away for years, without success. He thought he was indestructible. He's gonna want to send a message. He's gonna want revenge.
Sharon: So they're gonna come after you. They're gonna keep coming after you.
Dylan: This guy's reach is worldwide.
Sharon: Well, so is Victor Newman's, and we live here on his ranch. It's practically like a fort! You know what --
Dylan: Sharon.
Sharon: We can hide out in the house and we can get you a bodyguard and we will up all the security --
Dylan: Sharon! I'm sorry. But it's gonna be okay. Everybody's gonna be all right.
Lily: You know, I really hope I get to go to Paris or Venice. Right? We haven't been there in so long. And that's the best part about this job, too. We can work together and travel together. And then for summer vacation...
Cane: All right. Slow down. Slow down. You just signed the contract. We haven't figured out the work yet, okay?
Lily: Well, you guys should probably do it soon since the campaign launches on valentine's day.
Cane: Can we leave business off the table tonight?
Lily: Um, yeah. I guess -- I just was really excited.
Cane: No, I'm excited, too. I just want to -- I just want to spend time with you, drink some wine, relax. Just forget about business.
Lily: You know, you kind of put me off earlier when I was trying to talk to you about how this job might affect us.
Cane: You're not gonna drop this, are you?
Lily: Cane, we have to talk about it. It might as well be tonight.
Cane: Well, what is there to say? You took the job. You signed the contract. I mean, you're happy, right?
Lily: Yeah, but are you happy about it?
Cane: I already told you I was happy.
Lily: You said that you were reluctant to share me, and then you and Billy are arguing...
Cane: Don't worry about that. Billy and I argue, it's how we communicate. Just --
Lily: Yeah, but this time, it was about me, wasn't it? Cane, look, if you have doubts, I want to hear them.
Cane: I'm surprised that you don't have any doubts about this. You know, you've gone from being the manager of this place... in a couple of hours, you're now a supermodel, and I just -- I don't understand why you wouldn't have any concerns.
Lily: Sure, I guess I should have felt strange or uncomfortable at the photo shoot, but once I got into it, it was really nice to not be treated like Mattie and Charlie's mom or your wife or manager of this club. And not that I don't love those roles, because I do, but it was nice to be treated like Lily and not an appendage to anyone else. It felt really good. And I don't want that feeling to go away.
Nikki: [Sighs]
Reed: Did mom tell you where she was going?
Nikki: Back to work.
Reed: So you're, what, like my babysitter?
Nikki: No, I'm your grandmother who has missed you very much and wants to spend time with you. Keep me company.
Reed: I assume she told you a bunch about me being a pain, huh?
Nikki: Yeah. She did.
Reed: Then I guess you hate me, too.
Nikki: Reed, no one hates you. You are so loved. But right now, your mother is worried about you.
Reed: Okay, well, she needs to stop. She needs to quit obsessing over every breath that I take, like I'm some little kid. Because I'm not.
Nikki: Let me tell you something. Even though your mom and your uncles are adults, I find myself treating them like children today.
Reed: And they let you?
Nikki: Well, sometimes. But that's because they're raising their own families and they've fallen into that same trap. But there is a way that you can show your mother that you're maturing.
Reed: How?
Nikki: Ease up on her.
Reed: On her? But I never do anything to her!
Nikki: You don't go out of your way to push her buttons? Let's stop that for now. Let her know that you appreciate the fact that she is juggling three kids and a job. And then you can suck up by making things easier around here, not more difficult.
[Door closes]
Victoria: Oh, I didn't realize you were headed back here.
Billy: I thought I'd put some extra time in on the roll-out. You know, valentine's day is gonna be here before we know it.
Victoria: That's why I'm here, too.
Billy: Conversation with Reed didn't go well after I left?
Victoria: You know, I left the kids with mom while I'm here, so I really need to get to it. I'll be in the conference room.
Billy: No, you can stay out here. Stay out here. I'm just gonna wrap up and head home.
Victoria: Well, there's no need to rush off on my account. I'm just -- I'd be more comfortable in the conference room.
Billy: More comfortable, huh?
Victoria: Yeah, you know, comfortable. I can just spread out, be happier.
Billy: Well, spread away.
Christine: Special agent, the cop that you are looking for is my husband's son. Look, Dylan McAvoy is not only family, but he is a decorated vet, and -- yes -- the minute you find out anything. Thank you. Oh, my God.
[Cell phone rings]
Paul: [Clears throat] Yeah. Chief Williams.
Dylan: Paul. It's --
Paul: Dylan! Son! You're alive!
Christine: He's okay?
Paul: Are you okay? Where are you?
Dylan: I'm safe. For now.
Lily: You've been awfully quiet. Cane, I wasn't saying I don't love being a wife and a mother.
Cane: I know you love the kids and I know you love me.
Lily: But?
Cane: There's no buts. I know you love us. How's your wine?
Lily: Can you please stop?
Cane: Stop what? What do you want me to stop?
Lily: You're evading the issue.
Cane: I'm not evading the issue, I'm not. I told you, baby. I told you -- I just want to have a nice evening with you.
Lily: Then stop telling me what you think I want to hear.
Cane: You know, it's funny -- when the words came out of my mouth, I thought to myself, "they're my thoughts, they're from my mind, but obviously she knows me better than I know myself."
Lily: Cane, I know when you're being honest and when you're not. So please just respect me by telling me the truth.
Cane: I just did. I told you. I just want to have a nice evening with you, and I don't want to talk about work.
Lily: If you're not happy with my career change, then just say so. Don't pretend to feel something that you don't.
Cane: Do you want honesty?
Lily: Yes!
Cane: I'm not happy about you going back to modeling.
Reed: How cool was that?
Nikki: Well, I enjoyed what little I could see of it. How can you watch something on such a small screen?
Reed: Must have been hard for you when you were my age, huh? Walking 20 miles through 10 feet of snow to a single-room schoolhouse.
Nikki: Ha, ha. Actually, I had to grow up pretty fast. I didn't have the easiest time when I was your age.
Reed: How come?
Nikki: That is for another time.
Reed: When I'm older?
Nikki: No, when I'm older.
Reed: Oh, come on, now you have to tell me.
Nikki: All you need to know is that I found my happily ever after with your grandfather. Corny, I know, but it's true.
Reed: So nothing bad ever happened to you?
Nikki: Honey, bad things happen to everybody. You know that by personal experience.
Reed: I guess.
Nikki: Sweetheart... [Sighs] Life can very difficult sometimes. You can feel like you're in a hole so deep that you'll never get out of it. But then, all of a sudden, something good happens.
Reed: You're telling me to be patient?
Nikki: Like there's any other choice?
Reed: Thank you.
Nikki: For what?
Reed: For not talking down to me. For just being you.
Nikki: My darling, I think you'll find that you can talk to your mother, too. She's actually pretty nice once you get to know her.
Dylan: [Clears throat]
Sharon: Dylan, I -- I need you to explain one thing to me. You told Paul that you're safe "for now." What does that mean?
Dylan: I just told you.
Sharon: Okay, I know the bad guys are gonna keep coming after you, but what does that mean the next few weeks are gonna look like?
Dylan: For now, I can't let anything happen to you, faith, Nikki, or anybody else that I love.
Sharon: Well, you won't. You're a cop. Your father is the chief of police. He's gonna have the whole force looking after us. Is that what you mean?
Dylan: Sharon, it's not that easy. These guys aren't gonna stop trying to find out my name and who I really am.
Sharon: They won't --
Dylan: Or who I love. Which means... there's only one thing to do. I have to leave. Tonight.
Sharon: Then I'm going with you.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Ashley: Would you please just shred that contract, Jack, and move on?
Jack: When I want something, I fight for it.
Eric: Is this seat taken?
Lauren: Eric. [Laughs]
Eric: [Chuckles] Hello.
Nikki: What about him? What's happened?
Sharon: He's at the house. He needs to see you right away.
