Episode # 10964 ~ Jack & Phyllis reach a crossroads in their marriage; Victoria considers an offer from Travis; Adam is forced to surrender.

Provided By Jim

Victoria: So, you want to go away together? Just want to drop everything and leave?

Travis: It has been done.

Victoria: For how long? A week? Two weeks? Three weeks?

Travis: Mm, I was thinking more in months, not weeks.

Victoria: [Laughs] That's very funny, Travis.

Travis: I've never been more serious. I want you to really consider what I'm saying here. An actual escape. An emotional and physical time-out from everything. You need one, Victoria. Desperately.

Billy: Yeah, I want to spend the rest of the day with the kids. So do you mind bringing them by? I will tell Victoria that there's been a change of plans. Great. Thank you very much. I'll see you in a little bit. Bye.

Cane: Miss Johnny and Katie, huh?

Billy: My mom can think and say whatever she wants about the women that I'm involved with, but no one will tell me I fall short when it comes to being a dad.

Jack: Whatever you have to tell me obviously has you very upset, so tell me. We'll work through this together.

Phyllis: I don't know how we can.

Jack: What do you mean you don't -- It's us. It's you and me.

Phyllis: That's the thing. I'm not the person you think I am.

Nikki: I talked to Victoria about rounding up the troops to testify for your appeal. And we both agreed that she should be the one to approach Phyllis.

Victor: How'd it go?

Nikki: Probably how you would expect.

Victor: That well?

Nikki: But Abby is on board.

Victor: Glad to hear that.

Nikki: And I'm gonna talk to Nicholas when he gets back to town. I can't imagine he would have any issues.

Victor: So that leaves Adam.

Adam: Hey. So, how'd it go, the meeting with Kevin? Really? Nothing? No leads? Nothing?

Chelsea: It's not for lack of trying, Adam. [Sighs]

Adam: So, what, he -- he looked in a safe-deposit box somewhere trying to find the missing pages of Sage's journal?

Chelsea: Unfortunately it came up empty.

Adam: Constan-- What -- what about Constance?

Chelsea: There's still no evidence to prove that the poison found in her bloodstream was staged. And as far as this mystery woman working with Victor --

Adam: Mystery woman is still a mystery, isn't she?

Chelsea: [Sighs] I'm sorry, Adam. I really wish Kevin could have given us some good news.

Adam: Yeah, me too.

Chelsea: So... What are we gonna do?

Adam: You mean am I gonna take Victor's deal? I mean, we're running out of options, babe. I'm running out of time. My trial starts soon.

Chelsea: So is that a yes? Will you go back to work at Newman Enterprises?

[Pounding on door]

Adam: Let me get that. Hey.

Dylan: I am done with the two of you taking advantage. No more favors, you understand? As of today, you're on your own.

Victor: I assume you haven't spoken to Adam yet?

Nikki: No, I haven't. But I'm very eager to, because he is the key. I mean, if he is willing to testify on your behalf after everything you two have been through together...

Victor: Well, he's the key to my appeal, you know.

Nikki: He would make the appeal.

Victor: But you're afraid he'll say no?

Nikki: Aren't you?

Victor: I think he'll be on board.

Nikki: Really? You do?

Victor: If he isn't already.

Nikki: Well, I hope you're right.

Victor: You know why I'm saying that? You know why?

Nikki: Why?

Victor: He's a smart boy. He knows what's at stake.

Dylan: I just got off a call with Walworth, and the prison did a cybersecurity sweep, and it turns out that they've been hacked. More than once.

Adam: Huh.

Dylan: Yeah. That's right. It started a couple weeks ago. It picked up with more intensity the last couple days.

Chelsea: Wow, that's...

Adam: That's -- that's a big deal.

Dylan: Yeah, it is a big deal, especially since I'm involved.

Chelsea: Involved how?

Dylan: Michael asked me to look at the visitation logs to see who signed in to visit Victor, and I did that as a favor to help you, Adam.

Adam: Thank you.

Dylan: And now I find out that those dates in the visitation log line up with the surveillance the hacker was after. You understand what I'm saying? I'm complicit now in a federal crime, and I'm a detective.

Chelsea: Okay, maybe it was some kind of a coincidence.

Dylan: Oh, it was a coincidence. That's right. 'Cause Michael was looking at the visitor log, and his brother happens to be a world-renowned hacker.

Adam: I mean, world-renowned is a touch much --

Dylan: Can you just stop joking?! Please? This is my life.

Chelsea: All right, Dylan, you know, this wasn't our doing.

Dylan: So, you have no idea at all about the hacked footage?

Chelsea: Maybe it was somebody that Victor hired.

Dylan: Why would Victor hire someone to monitor his own visits?

Adam: Why does he do anything? He's got a big ego. Maybe that's why.

Dylan: Okay, if you think stonewalling me is gonna get me to drop this, think again. I'm gonna find the proof.

Chelsea: Oh, God. I hate lying to him.

Adam: Well, no, we didn't outright lie to him, right? It's not like we hacked anything.

Chelsea: I know, but we certainly didn't tell him everything we know.

Adam: Well, you know...

Chelsea: [Sighs]

Adam: We didn't have a choice.

Chelsea: I know. I know. You're right. If he keeps digging, it's just gonna complicate everything.

Adam: Including our ability to find those pages.

Chelsea: Right. Or branding them inadmissible because they're connected to the hacking. [Sighs]

Adam: We got to end this. Now. I'm taking Victor's deal.

Victoria: Uh, okay, well, I may be a lot of things, but desperate is not one of them. Especially not to escape from Genoa City.

Travis: Oh, you sure about that? Tori?

Victoria: That's not fair.

Travis: Why not?

Victoria: Look, I-I have a job here. You know, I have responsibilities and commitments. I can't just up and leave.

Travis: You sound exactly like me back in my Wall Street days. Back before I got the courage to move to Wisconsin, open this bar.

Victoria: Courage? Yes, you are a very brave man, Travis Crawford.

Travis: Imagine if I had listened to those voices trying to hold me back. I would have never met you. That'd be a damn tragedy.

Victoria: I know, but... It's not as easy as that. This is different.

Travis: It's close enough. You hear those same voices, too, don't you? You have that same need to get out and breathe. I want you to experience what I did. See the world in a new light.

Victoria: [Laughs] Okay. So, what are we gonna do? We're just gonna fly off into the sunset?

Travis: Fly? No way. That's too predictable. You and I are gonna set sail.

Victoria: [Laughs] Stop.

Travis: Three months. Maybe even six.

Victoria: Six?!

Travis: Out on the open sea. Don't say no. Least not till you've really thought about it.

Victoria: In case you're forgetting, I have children.

Travis: Bring them with us.

Victoria: [Scoffs] Have you ever spent more than a half an hour in a car with two toddlers?

Travis: I think it'll be fun. And can you think of a better education than seeing the world? Not in pictures or movies, but right there in front of you?

Victoria: But Billy...

Travis: Would be bummed. I get it. But once you tell him how much the kids are gonna benefit, I'm sure we can work something out. And once he sees Johnny and Katie once they get back, probably speaking eight different languages, he's gonna be thanking you a million times over.

Victoria: You know it's a pretty ridiculous idea.

Travis: That's my favorite kind. I've seen what this job's doing to you, Victoria. You're suffocating. And when your dad gets back, it's just gonna get worse.

Victoria: Stop, okay? Just...stop bombarding my head with ideas. I just -- I can't process.

Travis: Okay. Well, go. Take time to process. But you'll be back. And when you do, you're gonna have a suitcase in tow. I just know it.

Jack: For you to say you're not the person I think you are, it -- it doesn't make any sense at all.

Phyllis: It will, if I can just figure out how to tell you.

Jack: Hey, it's gonna be okay.

Phyllis: Don't -- don't. Don't do that, okay? It's not gonna be okay. I don't know if it ever will be.

Jack: Is this about the argument we had the other day?

Phyllis: No.

Jack: Okay, whatever it is, you need to get it out. I don't know that I've ever seen you this stressed.

Phyllis: [Sighs] Stressed? I-I'm -- I feel like I've been buried alive. I've been feeling that way for weeks and months, and there's just no escape. There's no relief.

Jack: Of course you feel that way. I know why.

Adam: Well, thank you very much, Paul. I appreciate it. All right. Yeah, that's it. Permission granted. I'm gonna go see Victor and make this happen.

Chelsea: Okay. Um... I'll cancel my meeting at the Club and I'll go with you.

Adam: No, no. Please don't -- Don't do that.

Chelsea: Well, don't you want backup?

Adam: I just... Kind of embarrassing. I'd rather do this on my own. So... Thank you, though.

Chelsea: Okay.

Adam: [Sighs]

Chelsea: Thank you. For doing this. I know if you had it your way, you would never even speak to your father again, let alone work for him. [Sighs] But you're doing this for us and our family.

Adam: Because you and Connor are my world.

Chelsea: And you're ours. And nothing -- I mean nothing -- is going to change that. It's not.

Adam: Let me ask you a question. How do you do that?

Chelsea: Do what?

Adam: That. The ability to take an unbearable situation and, I don't know, shine light on it, make it bearable. How do you do that?

Chelsea: I don't know. I guess I have my ways.

Adam: Yeah, you do.

[Knock on door]

Chelsea: [Groans]

Adam: It's probably the guard, right, ready to escort me to the hospital.

Chelsea: Yeah. Go.

Adam: Okay.

Chelsea: Well, uh, not yet. Not yet.

Billy: Thank you, Hannah. I appreciate it. I'll talk to you in a bit.

Cane: What's up? Hey, man. Give me one. Oh, what have you been feeding them?

Billy: Oh, geez! You are strong, Katie. All right, what's going on? Everybody want to have fun?

Cane: You want to have fun?

Billy: Now, we got a couple things we can do. We can go build a fort in the playroom?

[Cane groans]

Billy: We can go get some ice cream.

[Cane groans]

Billy: Or we can...

Cane: Say paint. Say paint.

Billy: ...paint.

Cane: Paint! Good idea.

Billy: Want to pain?

Cane: Okay, now check it out. We have some super cool stuff over here.

Billy: Go see what colors we have.

Cane: All right, now we have to pick a color, all right? Here's our choices. Ooh, this one? This one is Cotton Candy Pink. Hmm. Okay. Then we've got Alligator Green.

Billy: I don't know, maybe this is just more real for me than it is for you. Is that what this is?

Phyllis: Billy, you need to understand this --

Billy: I'm gonna let you off easy, okay? I'm gonna let you off really easy here. I'm out, okay? 'Cause I can't -- I can't do this anymore.

Cane: Billy? Billy! Billy. Hey.

Billy: Yeah?

Cane: We're trying to pick a color out, yeah? They like Yucky Yellow.

Billy: Yucky Yellow?

Cane: Ooooh!

Billy: I think that's perfect.

Cane: Let's go and paint some on that staircase, right, and we see which ones we like best, all right? Are you ready? Yeah? Come on, let's go.

Phyllis: You know why?

Jack: How could I not know? This has been a difficult year. Starting with Marco, of course. Our relationship took quite a hit. We struggled like hell to find our footing. I'm not sure we ever did. Things have been difficult between us.

Phyllis: I'm not gonna disagree.

Jack: I've seen you with Billy. I've seen how easily the two of you find common ground.

Phyllis: Jack...

Jack: Both of you fueled by this need for vengeance, to -- to make Victor pay. And I couldn't understand that. Your own husband couldn't understand you. That had to be hugely difficult.

Phyllis: Don't put this on yourself.

Jack: To add on that, you're held captive by Ian Ward, and Victor of all people is the one who rescues you. The one man who started this whole awful thing.

Phyllis: Jack, this is not about Victor.

Jack: I know that. It's about everything. Must feel like the whole world is tilted against you, that you can't catch a break no matter how much you try. It's not one thing. It's everything. Isn't it? Phyllis, isn't that it?

Phyllis: Yeah. Feel very overwhelmed by every aspect of my life right now, yes.

Jack: And I haven't been able to help you. I haven't been there for you. I haven't been able to be what you needed. You shouldn't suffer this way. You deserve better.

Phyllis: No. You deserve better. Better than me.

Nikki: Adam! Did Victoria talk to you?

Adam: About my father's appeal? No. But, uh... What, you need to make sure we all fall in line, kiss his ring?

Nikki: Oh. Okay, then. I guess you're not on board.

Adam: I didn't say that.

Nikki: If your intention is to sabotage your father's chances --

Adam: Here's the thing. His appeal is the last thing on my mind right now considering the fact that I'm on trial for, you know, murder.

Nikki: I'm so sorry. You're right. I didn't mean to sound insensitive.

Adam: It's all right. Listen, I have an appointment, so I got to go. But, um, you know, take care.

Nikki: You too.

Adam: Can I please...? You win.

Victor: I'm sure you weighed the options and decided accordingly. Well done.

Adam: Thank you. Or, you know, I was blackmailed into it.

Victor: Let me put it to you this way. You come back to my company, I want you to come back with 100% commitment.

Adam: Well, I've got a lot of flaws, but, uh, I'm a man of my word, so... I said I'm in, I'm in.

Victor: Good.

Adam: I assume you'll return the favor?

Victor: In what respect?

Adam: I see [Chuckles] you haven't lost your sense of humor in here. The -- the diary pages.

Victor: Oh.

Adam: All right? I need the diary pages, otherwise the deal's off.

Victor: Let me put it this way -- the diary pages will appear just before the resumption of your trial. Uh, I hope. I'm optimistic they will.

Adam: What the hell does that mean?

Victor: What I just said.

Adam: You didn't say anything. All right, those diary pages are my ticket to freedom. I'm gonna need a little more than hope and optimism from you.

Victor: This is all you get. Now, don't go walking out here slamming doors and telling me the deal is off. Because, my son, I got bad news for you. You've run out of options.

Nikki: Thank you for making time for me.

Dylan: Oh, I'm always happy to see you. You know that. So, what's going on?

Nikki: Well, I realized after we last talked that I didn't even ask you what you thought about Victor and me reconciling. And you didn't offer an opinion, so then I thought maybe you just didn't want to say anything 'cause it would be too difficult for me to hear.

Adam: You know what, I almost forgot to say thank you.

Victor: For what?

Adam: Well, for this encounter. Or whatever the hell you want to call it. It's a painful, sobering reminder of just how awful it is to be your puppet. But, hey, now, thank you. Now I'm prepared. So, you know, appreciate that.

Victor: I'm glad you appreciate it. You ought to thank me.

Adam: What, for doing me a favor at a cost? Right? That's what it always is with you, isn't it? For your love, your acceptance. You have no idea what the word "unconditional" means, do you?

Victor: It means nothing.

Adam: Uh-huh.

Victor: Everything needs to be earned.

Adam: Even your son's acceptance?

Victor: You bet.

Adam: Wow. Okay. Well, you and I are totally different. And I pray to God I'll never have to say that to my son. So, you know, I'll see you at the office. Try not to pop a stitch.

Victoria: Hi. Adam, hi. Uh...aren't you...?

Adam: Supposed to be at home? Yeah. I'm under house arrest with this guy. But, you know, that'll be -- that'll be fun after this experience.

Victoria: Does the fact that you're here mean that you're willing to help Dad with his appeal?

Adam: Yeah. Why the hell not, right? I mean, that's what family's for. Come through for you when you need them. Or maybe I didn't have a choice. He's all yours.

Victoria: Do I even want to know what that was about?

Victor: I just want to make sure that we are all playing by the same rules. I'm just glad that he is back in the fold, and that I can count on him. As I'm sure I can count on you.

Victoria: Yes, you can. The question is, can I count on you?

Jack: I don't want you talking like that. I am lucky to have you in my life. I am. I say this to myself every day.

Phyllis: That's not... I'm not doing a very good job of this, am I?

Jack: I'd like to tell you, but I'm not sure what you're trying to do.

Phyllis: The day I married you, I had no regret. Our wedding day was one of the happiest days of my life.

Jack: But you're not happy now?

Phyllis: I don't know what I am. That's the problem. And a lot has happened since that day. [Voice breaking] And I feel like...I've lost myself, you know? And I feel like the person who said those vows to you and meant them [Sobs] is a stranger. And you keep talking to me about what it is I need, and your guess is as good as mine at this point.

Jack: Okay. So what do we do?

Phyllis: I don't know. I don't know. As best as I can explain it, I feel like I'm being pulled in a thousand different directions. And I don't know which way is home.

Jack: I can show you.

Phyllis: I think I need to find my way, Jack. I need to find my own way.

Jack: Uh...I'm not sure what you're saying now. Wait, are -- Are you saying you need a break from us?

Victor: Of course you can count on me. Why would you ask that?

Victoria: I don't know. I've just been thinking ahead. Just been wondering what your plans might be if you win on appeal.

Victor: Well, now, first things first. Dinner with your mother.

Victoria: Ohh. That's nice. Top of the Tower?

Victor: Top of the Tower.

Victoria: [Laughs] That's good. And then what? What are you plans for the company moving forward?

Victor: You know that I value your contributions to the company enormously. And I want you on my team.

Victoria: So, uh... I guess that means that you'll be taking back your position as C.E.O.

Victor: Of course I am. You didn't expect me to retire, did you?

Victoria: No, no. I-I didn't expect you to retire. Well, I hope that you'll consider me when you do, though. I have run the company before.

Victor: And you will run it again. My baby, I have to tell you something. I think you need more experience. I mean, that whole dilemma with the oil division there tells me that you need some more work. And I will find a position for you in the company in which you can shine. I'm looking forward to doing that. As much as I'm looking forward to hand over the reins to you again one day.

Victoria: Thanks, Dad.

Victor: Okay?

Victoria: Yeah. Oh, wow. Well, I should get going. I promised that I would keep my visit brief. [Sighs]

Victor: Sweetheart, you didn't expect me to just bow out after this?

Victoria: No, Dad, listen, it's fine. It's wonderful to see you. I'm glad that, you know, we could get everything on the table to avoid any misunderstandings.

Victor: And I'm very happy to see you. Okay?

Victoria: Okay. See you later.

Dylan: I haven't been holding back. For some reason, I don't do that with you. Like it or not, I just -- I tell you what I'm thinking.

Nikki: Well, I'm glad to hear that. But you're okay that Victor and I are staying together? And I would totally understand if you're not. 'Cause God knows I've been all over the place where he's concerned. Emotionally messed up. "I love you. I hate you. I love you again." I mean, I can't even keep track of things, much less anybody else.

Dylan: But you do. You love him.

Nikki: I do. And I understand if you think that's a mistake.

Dylan: [Sighs] I think the only, really, mistake you made was trying to convince yourself that you stopped loving your husband.

Nikki: Really?

Dylan: Be happy. That's all I ever want for you.

Nikki: Even if I'm being happy with Victor?

Dylan: Um...I... [Chuckles] I knew that we would end up here, that the family would put aside their grudges and bring Victor back in.

Nikki: Well, it's funny. It kind of seems like the other way around, where Victor is inviting us back in.

Dylan: Either way, I knew Victor would reclaim his throne.

Nikki: Well, you could have warned me, you know. Would have saved me a lot of heartache.

Dylan: [Laughs] Sorry about that.

[Cell phone rings]

Dylan: Oh, excuse me.

Nikki: Mm-hmm.

Dylan: Detective McAvoy. Uhh, yeah. Hold on. Let me -- let me get a pen.

Nikki: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Dylan: Okay, thank you. Go. Okay. Great. I'm on it.

Nikki: Police business?

Dylan: [Sighs] Yeah. I got to go, uh, see what this means.

Chelsea: Dylan. Dylan. Hi.

Dylan: Look, Chelsea, I-I can't right now.

Chelsea: Well, it's obvious something is going on. So -- so what is it?

Dylan: Well, I got a tip on Adam's case.

Chelsea: Good or -- or bad?

Dylan: I don't know.

Chelsea: Wha-- It -- [Sighs]

Phyllis: Yeah. I need some time, I think, to pull myself together, and figure out --

Jack: How much time? Hey, you know what, forget I asked that. This is difficult enough without a-a clock ticking down.

Phyllis: Thank you.

Jack: I want to help you. I don't know what to do. Do you want me to move out of the house for a while?

Phyllis: [Crying] No. No. I'm -- I'm gonna get a suite at the Club. I don't want you to be uprooted because of my mistake.

Jack: What mistake? You keep saying that. You've done nothing wrong. Sometimes things just happen.

Phyllis: I'm so sorry, Jack. I'm so, so sorry.

Jack: I'm sorry, too, if it helps. But in my book, you've done nothing to be sorry for.

Victoria: Hey.

Billy: Oh, hey. Here you go.

Victoria: What are you doing here?

Billy: Mommy's here.

Victoria: Hi, baby. Mwah! Mwah!

Billy: What's going on? You got my message from Hannah, right?

Victoria: Yeah. I had no idea that I'd run into you here. Sugar break?

Billy: Mm. See, Mom knows what's going on. Sugar-break time.

Victoria: How do you have paint on you? They have paint on them.

Billy: Yes, well, we're renovating the house. Actually, Jill's renovating the house, and they're helping.

Victoria: Oh, you put them to work. Awesome.

Billy: We got to pay for school, don't we?

Victoria: Yeah, that's true.

Billy: Hey, you guys did amazing painting the walls, doing everything right. Eating that cookie like a champion. What's up?

Victoria: You're having the time of your life with them.

Billy: [Chuckles] Every once in a while, I need a reminder how amazing they are, and how much I love them, and how much I love being their dad. Scares me, though. My biggest fear is that I'm gonna look back one day and think that I missed some of it.

Chelsea: Hi.

Adam: Hey.

Chelsea: How'd it go with Victor?

Adam: Well, you know, I mean, I guess about how you'd expect it to go. The only thing that kept my brain from popping out of my skull was thinking about you and Connor. You know, that man, my father, he is so smug. There he is, he's shot, he's in a hospital bed, he's handcuffed to the damn thing, and yet he's still winning.

Chelsea: Well, did he say that he could help get the real journal entries, or...?

Adam: No, of course not. He didn't. He didn't commit to anything. He -- he -- he danced around it and dangled it. Didn't commit to anything, though.

Chelsea: He committed. I think.

Adam: What do you mean you think?

Chelsea: Well, I just saw Dylan at the Athletic Club, and he got a phone call, he went to run out, I stopped him, I said, "What's going on?" And he said it was about a lead in your case.

Adam: And this just happened?

Chelsea: Yeah, just now. I-I came back home right after I saw him.

Adam: So all this happened right after I saw Victor.

Chelsea: Yeah. This could be it, Adam. Dylan could be out there right now finding the evidence to clear your name.

Travis: I've been busy.

Victoria: Oh, yeah?

Travis: Check her out.

Victoria: Wow. You are gonna buy a boat.

Travis: Not just a boat. A passport to freedom.

Victoria: You're gonna buy a passport?

Travis: Best part's her name. Blue Eyed Beauty. I mean, come on. It's meant to be, right? And I found a buyer for the bar, too. More than enough to cover payments.

Victoria: Oh, my gosh. You have been busy, haven't you?

Travis: What about you? How'd processing go? Did you have any thoughts whether your father's gonna pull the rug out from under you at the company?

Victoria: Yeah. He, uh, confirmed that that is exactly what he's gonna do. And I've been thinking about my kids a lot, and what you said about... this experience being something that they would never forget. I think you're right.

Travis: Oh, this is...

Victoria: [Squeals]

Travis: ...so amazing. We can set sail in a week, maybe two.

Victoria: I can't go.

Travis: What?

Victoria: I'm sorry.

Travis: But you just said...

Victoria: I know what I said. But I... As much as I would love to spend this time with my children on a boat and with you, I can't do it to Billy. He lives for these kids.

Travis: He -- he can fly out to meet us any time he wants, see the kids.

Victoria: No, that won't work. It won't work.

Travis: [Sighs] You're positive?

Victoria: I don't want to be, but I am. [Sighs] That was...

Travis: That was... goodbye. I love you, "Tori turned Victoria." Part of me always will. But I can't stay here while this place eats you alive.

Victoria: It won't. I'm strong. I know how to fight.

Travis: I know you are. Some battles just can't be won. That's why I was so desperate to get you to come away with me.

Victoria: [Sighs] So that's it? You're just gonna get on a boat? Sail away?

Travis: Who knows? Maybe I'll be back. Till then... Save a dance for me. Good luck.

Victoria: Yeah, you too.

Cane: Okay, well, I'll see you tomorrow. Hey. All right, that was the contractor, and he's coming back tomorrow with some more options. We'll do some swatches --

Billy: Tomorrow? I don't know about tomorrow. I don't know if we can wait that long.

Cane: Ooh.

Billy: What do you two think? You think we can handle this?

Katie: Yeah.

Cane: Yeah?

Billy: Think we can paint? What do you think, Cane?

Cane: I think we can paint. Do you guys want to paint?

Katie: Yeah.

Cane: I want to hear, "Painting!"

Billy: Let's paint.

Cane: Painting!

Phyllis: I should go upstairs.

Jack: Want some help settling in?

Phyllis: I think we should say goodbye here. I'm sorry.

Jack: Phyllis, I --

Nikki: Jack. Is everything all right?

Jack: No, everything is very

Nikki: Hey, if you want to talk, talk.

Jack: I don't know what to say.

Nikki: Just say anything. It's obvious the weight of the world is on your shoulders. God knows I've been there. And you were always there at my side. Supporting me, being my friend. I am happy to return the favor.

Jack: Phyllis has moved out temporarily.

Nikki: How temporary?

Jack: We don't know. We don't know. We -- we -- there hasn't been a fight or an affair, it's -- She's just lost. Doesn't know up for down. And I apparently am not the person to show her the way.

Nikki: Sounds like she needs time. And knowing you, you were happy to give it to her.

Jack: It was that or risk losing my wife forever.

Nikki: [Sighs] God, Jack, I'm so sorry.

Jack: I hear you and Victor have reconciled.

Nikki: Oh, we don't need to talk about that right now.

Jack: Maybe we do. You are my friend. I care a great deal about you, and I want you to be happy. But let's call a spade a spade here. Phyllis is upstairs at this moment alone and afraid largely because of Victor. Because he put a stranger in her bed on her wedding night. Her life has never been the same since. I will never forgive Victor for what he's done to us. Never.

[Phone thuds, glass shatters]

Jack: [Gasps] [Sobs]

[Cell phone rings]

Cane: Oh, that's the contractor. Let me take this. Hey.

Billy: Look at that. Keep going. Stay right there. Good job. Put it on the inside right there. There you go. How long do you think it's gonna take to paint the whole house?

Johnny: 10 minutes.

Billy: 10 minutes?

[Knocking on door]

Billy: How many? Oh. Keep going. Don't get any on the floor, okay?

Victoria: Hi.

Billy: Hey. Everything all right?

Victoria: Yeah. Good. Do you have an extra paintbrush?

Billy: Yeah. Come in. Check out Picasso and Picassette, there.

Victoria: Hi! Oh, this is incredible! I had no idea that you guys could paint.

Billy: Yeah, neither did we. Trying to figure out what color we're gonna do here.

Victoria: Well, as long as it's not "Enchanted Periwinkle," I think you're doing okay.

Billy: Well, now that you're here, what do you say you get to work?

Victoria: [Scoffs] Okay. Wow! All right.

Billy: Look at how good they're doing.

Victoria: No, it's really good. I love the choice of your color. Yeah, just get in there.

Adam: What if we're wrong?

Chelsea: We're not wrong.

Adam: No, what if we are, you know? What if that phone call was just more bogus evidence? What if that was my father sending another message?

Chelsea: Okay, anything's possible with Victor, I will give you that. But I don't know. I just -- I feel like it's good news.

Adam: Why?

Chelsea: I just do. Be patient, Adam. That phone will ring. And when it does [Sighs] This will all be over.

Victor: Isn't it a little early for dinner? What the hell are you doing here?

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Sharon: What did Kevin say to you? Dylan, please. Just forget about what he said.

Natalie: Who's your little buddy, Victor? Boom.

Chelsea: How long until you're cleared?

Adam: Victor screwed up.
