Episode # 10929 ~ Phyllis reconnects with Jack, while emotions run high between Victor & Adam. Chrishell Stause debuts as Bethany Bryant.
Provided By Suzanne
Adam: Baby, I'm gonna give you a quick preview of how this is gonna go down, all right? There's not gonna be any evidence of anyone tampering with that journal. There's not gonna be any proof that the medical examiner's report was complete B.S. Victor has pretty much made sure that a life sentence for me is signed, sealed, and delivered. There's no way out of this.Chelsea: I may have a way.
Adam: You want to tell me what it is? Because I got to tell you, from over here, I am fresh out of ideas. I got nothing.
Chelsea: We run. You, me, and Connor. Tonight.
Adam: You are a beautiful genius.
Chelsea: [Chuckles] I am?
Adam: You are. We run. Of course. That's what we do. We have no other option, right?
Lois: Lois Thompson from the GC chronicle.
Victoria: Oh, boy.
Lois: Um, thoughts on your brother's arrest and murder charge?
Victoria: No comment. And if you don't leave this premises immediately, I'm gonna be forced to call security.
Lois: Oh, I'm just doing my job. Maybe you can relate.
Victoria: Okay, look, one question.
Lois: Okay. Victor, uh, Noah, Adam -- Newmans keep breaking the law.
Victoria: And you want to know, in light of that, why anyone would trust our family. That's a very good question.
Meredith: We're gonna have to build a new wall if you keep putting so many holes in it.
Victor: [Chuckles]
Meredith: Who inspired this punch?
Victor: Mm. My son's attorney.
Meredith: Well, you're gonna have to start punching with the left, 'cause I don't know how much more fight this one's got left in it.
Victor: [Chuckles]
Meredith: So, what happened?
Victor: Mm. Michael Baldwin happened, you know? My attorney who threw my case.
Meredith: Wasn't he disbarred?
Victor: Yeah. But they just gave him a slap on the wrist. He can now get his license back.
Meredith: And what did he want?
Victor: He wanted me to admit that I framed my son -- that I changed sage's diary and, by doing so, framed my son for murder.
Meredith: What?!
Victor: Yeah.
Meredith: Did Adam put him up to that?
Victor: Of course. Who else? But my son Nicholas can't believe that his deceased wife could keep such a secret from him. This is all such a mess. Maybe it's time for me to confess.
Meredith: I'm not gonna let you do that.
Billy: I think about me and you, and I think we can do this. Me and you against the world. It doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. You are everything to me. Just say yes to me, and you will be everything to me. Do you understand?
Phyllis: Stop it, stop it. Just stop. Stop.
[Cell phone vibrates]
Jack: I came home early so we could spend some time together. We promised each other we wouldn't have any distractions, so who has you breaking the rules?
Billy: Table's set, flowers from the garden. I made lunch and -- oh, I mean, wow. Okay, so, the flowers were delivered, I ordered lunch, but the forks and knives -- they're all me. I really wish that you'd call me back. What happened between us in the park was huge for me. I'm pretty sure it was huge for you. Anyways, get over here, will you? Bye. Hey.
Ashley: Hi.
Billy: What's going on?
Ashley: I would have knocked, but the, uh, door was open.
Billy: Yeah?
Ashley: Okay, maybe I wouldn't have knocked. Yeah. Okay. Actually, I stopped by to see if you wanted my input on fragrances, but, um, it looks like you have other plans.
Chelsea: This would be a game changer.
Adam: Yeah.
Chelsea: Like, life would never be the same.
Adam: Yeah, no. Game changer. Yeah. I know. I get it.
Chelsea: I mean, like you said, you're still on probation for Delia's hit and run, so if you leave town with a murder charge hanging over your head, you'd --
Adam: It's basically like an admission of guilt in the public eye, right? What choice do I have, though? We run. We have to.
Chelsea: I mean, we could never come back, Adam. Are you sure you'd be okay with that?
Adam: I mean, okay, what other choice do I have? Stay here, spend the rest of my life in prison?
Chelsea: No. We do not know that for a fact.
Adam: Oh, please, baby. Give me a break. The old man -- he -- he doctors a journal from prison, he gets me implicated in a murder that I didn't commit. He does that from prison. So, where the hell does that leave me? I-I-I end up at Walworth for the rest of my life, right? 10 years from now, he moseys on out of there. I end up dying in prison. No, no, no. I'd rather be on the run with you and Connor than living that hell any day of the week.
Chelsea: Okay. I just needed to make sure.
Adam: What about you, though? I mean, you -- you've got a life here, too. You know, your job, your friends.
Chelsea: You and Connor are my life. You guys are my everything, my family. Now and forever, remember?
Adam: Now and forever.
Chelsea: I'm holding you to it.
Adam: Well, you better.
Victoria: My father started Newman with the intention of leaving it to his children and their children after that, with each generation taking the company to a higher level, which is exactly what I've done. Our profits are up. Our fundamentals are sound. And our prospects have never looked brighter, quite frankly. Now, that's not to say that I don't understand why you're here. I know this makes for fascinating copy, but there's really no story there. Now, if you want to talk about the resurgence of Newman's energy division or how we've streamlined by getting rid of Newman cosmetics, I would be happy to sit down and answer any of your question.
Lois: Oh, okay. So --
just not today. I don't have time. You can make an appointment with my assistant down the hall.
Lois: Okay. Thank you, miss Newman. I will.
Victoria: Thank you. You have a good day.
Lois: You, too.
Victoria: [Sighs]
[Door closes]
Victoria: Hey. Uh, cancel my meetings for the rest of the afternoon. I have a family matter that I need to deal with. Oh, and if a reporter from the chronicle wants an interview, tell her I'd be very happy to sit down with her sometime next year. [Chuckles] Okay.
Ashley: Those flower arrangements and two wine glasses.
Billy: Yeah. [Chuckles]
Ashley: So, uh, for Victoria?
Billy: I thought you were here to talk fragrance.
Ashley: No, I'm not. I'm here to talk you, because I love you and I want you to be happy.
Billy: Well, that's a coincidence, 'cause I want to be happy, too.
Ashley: Good. So, can't you find some way to get back.
Billy: I've told you already. Vicki and I are done.
Ashley: I refuse to believe it. I'm sorry.
Billy: It doesn't matter what you believe, ash. It matters what Victoria believes, and she made it very clear that we are over.
Ashley: I'm right, aren't I? You have moved on with somebody. I mean, jack thought it was just a fling, but I had this feeling.
Billy: You're discussing this with jack?
Ashley: We're not talking about you behind your back like --
Billy: No? It sure sounds like you are.
Ashley: You're our little brother, Billy. I'm sorry, but it's kind of in our DNA to worry about you and want to protect you.
Billy: From -- from what? What are you worried about?
Ashley: It you and your stupid decisions that you make all the time, like this. I mean, whatever this is, aren't you kind of a little afraid that it might be the final straw in your relationship with Victoria?
Billy: There's no relationship.
Ashley: But there could be.
Billy: Okay. Stop. Ash, stop, okay? I-I appreciate you wanting to protect me. I really do. But I'M... [Sighs] I'm not gonna pine over Victoria, and I don't have to check in with you every time I do something.
Ashley: All right. I'll back off.
Billy: Hallelujah.
Ashley: Just take it from somebody who really cares about you deeply. [Smooches]
Phyllis: It was just a robocall from a politician. Apparently, those no-call lists are worthless.
Jack: Oh, I remember recording those things when I ran for state senate. Boy, that was a long time ago. So, if I was in this election, what would I have to do to win your vote?
Phyllis: That's a trick question.
Jack: Why?
Phyllis: 'Cause you already got my vote.
Jack: Ooh, good answer.
Phyllis: Hey, you keep this up, I'll never leave this bed.
Jack: Would that be a bad thing?
Phyllis: Yes, because you have a marketing meeting this afternoon, and I have to be someplace.
Jack: Should I be jealous?
Phyllis: [Chuckles]
[Cell phone vibrates]
Jack: Oh. I'm gonna get that.
Phyllis: No, jack.
Jack: No, no. I got it. Uh, if you keep calling her, she's gonna vote for the write-in candidate -- oh. It' um, yeah. She's right here. Ashley.
Phyllis: Hey, Ashley. What's up?
Ashley: Hi. I was hoping you could meet me in the park.
Phyllis: Um, actually kind of busy right now. Another time?
Ashley: No, it's about Billy. I think I know what's going on with him.
Phyllis: Hello.
Ashley: Hi. Thanks for coming.
Phyllis: Yes, I am actually meeting someone in a bit. This urgent business matter.
Ashley: You know, it's about Billy.
Phyllis: Yes. You mentioned that.
Ashley: And I know that you and he are close, and I can't go to jack again about it.
Phyllis: Okay.
Ashley: 'Cause jack thinks I'm overreacting about this new woman in Billy's life. But I just came from Billy's house, and he's definitely moved on with somebody.
Phyllis: Why are you telling me this, Ashley?
Ashley: Well, you know Billy, right? You know how he just goes all-in when he's fallen for somebody. And if this was a fling, it wouldn't be a big deal, but if it's serious, then it could jeopardize his chances of getting back with Victoria, and I still believe -- and I'm sure you do, too -- that Victoria and Billy belong together. I mean, they have a history. They've got children.
Phyllis: I'm still not sure why I'm here.
Ashley: Oh, okay. I'm sorry. Um, I'm hoping that maybe you can tell me who this new person is in Billy's life. Any idea?
Phyllis: I have no idea. Have you talked to Billy?
Ashley: Like he's gonna be straight with me. Are you kidding?
Phyllis: Well, I mean, maybe it's just a flash in the pan.
Ashley: Mm, no. Nope. Don't think so.
Phyllis: Why?
Ashley: Like I said, I just came from his house. He has this beautiful, elegant lunch all laid out for her, whoever she is, and I don't know. He's acting very secretive, and not in his usual secretive Billy kind of like he's being... protective of somebody that's important to him.
Phyllis: I don't know what to tell you. Billy is a grown man.
Ashley: That's true. I feel bad for this woman, though. Billy's got "rebound" written all over him. I mean, she's gonna get her heart broken. Poor thing.
Victor: This may be the last chance for me to show my love for my family.
Meredith: By confessing to a crime you didn't commit?
Victor: Yeah. It'll give my son Adam an opportunity to live a normal life with his son. And my son Nicholas -- well, it may ease his grief.
Meredith: What about you?
Victor: What about me? I'm in prison for 10 years. 10 years is a lifetime.
Meredith: But there's a chance that you could get out before then. A good chance.
Victor: [Chuckles] I don't believe so.
Meredith: Well, believe it. 'Cause we'll find a way to get you out of here.
Victor: You're a remarkable woman, aren't you?
Meredith: It's true.
Victor: I didn't think I had any reason to fight for anything anymore.
Meredith: So, you'll forget about confessing?
Victor: Well, now, would I disobey a doctor's orders?
Adam: Victoria, the thing is, I really don't have time for your problems today. I got plenty of my own. Perhaps you've heard.
Victoria: Oh, yeah. As if I could avoid it. My brother, the granny killer. Just when I start to undo the damage from dad's conviction, you have to drag the Newman name through the mud all over again.
Adam: Me?! Are you kidding me right now?
Victoria: Do you know that a reporter stopped by my office this morning, wondering how anyone could do business with a family of cutthroats and murderers? This is the last thing that I need, Adam.
Adam: It's the last thing that you need? Sis, listen, I'm facing trumped-up murder charges right now, okay? I could spend the rest of my life in prison because of our father's insatiable appetite for revenge. But no, no, no, no. Let's talk more about how this inconveniences you.
Victoria: Okay. You're right. It's way worse for you. But this is really bad timing for me.
Adam: Wait, wait. Hold on. Let's circle back there. Did you just say, "yeah, you're right"?
Victoria: I know you're capable of a lot of things, but poisoning an old woman to protect your identity is ridiculous.
Adam: That might be one of the top-five nicest things you've ever said to me.
Victoria: Well, don't get used to it, okay?
Adam: I won't.
Victoria: Good.
Adam: You know, despite what the law says, I'm guilty until proven innocent, okay, which --
Chelsea: All packed! We just have to pick up Connor from preschool, then we can head out.
Victoria: Oh, no. You've got to be kidding me.
Billy: Jack. Hey. You, uh -- you waiting on Phyllis? I'm actually trying to get ahold of her about a potential deal between brash & sassy! And Jabot. What's with the room key? I hope there's no trouble at home.
Phyllis: Just the opposite. My husband and I are having a much-needed getaway, aren't we?
Jack: That we are.
Jack: Actually, my wife surprised me with this idea. It's a little, uh -- what did you call it?
Phyllis: Romantic time-out.
Jack: Yeah.
Billy: A romantic time-out. Hey, that's -- that's very sweet. And Phyllis is nothing if not surprising.
Phyllis: Jack and I have been pulled in different directions lately. And that's on me.
Jack: No, it's not.
Phyllis: Oh, it is. And I'm gonna make it up to you. And this is the room key, and I will be upstairs, okay? Don't be long.
Jack: Okay.
Phyllis: Okay.
Jack: You all right?
Billy: I'm fine.
Jack: You never mentioned the, uh -- the work possibility, the opportunity you were gonna talk to --
Billy: Work can wait. She's got something more important on her mind. Have fun, jack.
Jack: Yeah, uh, hold on. Um, it's no surprise that my marriage has hit a bit of a rough patch lately. I know Phyllis has talked to you about that.
Billy: A little bit.
Jack: Well, something has changed. I'm not sure how or why, but we're finally able to put our relationship first -- not the foundation, not jabot, not victor, not anything else.
Billy: Well, I'm -- I'm happy for you jack, truly. Look, I'm sorry if my... personal issues have been a distraction you. That was -- that was never my intention.
Jack: All in the past. I just want you to find a way to be as happy as me.
Billy: Yeah.
Ashley: Hey. I'm glad I found you. We need to talk.
Victoria: You're gonna unpack that now. You're not going anywhere.
Chelsea: I'm sorry. When did you become my mother?
Victoria: Oh, no. Trust me. I know your mother. She would have advised you to hit the road with only the clothes on your back. You can't do this. This is a terrible idea.
Chelsea: You don't get to tell us what we do with our lives, Victoria. Besides, if Adam stays, victor will make sure he doesn't have a life at all.
Victoria: Oh, and a life on the run is so much better.
Chelsea: If I'm with my husband and my kid is with his dad, hell, yeah, it's better.
Victoria: That's a great way to raise a child.
Chelsea: Oh, really?
Adam: [Mimics explosion] That's my mind exploding, okay? Didn't you just come in here, bitching to me about how horrible of a person I was because of all the bad press that got dumped in your lap because of me? Me hitting the road is -- it's an answer to all your prayers.
Victoria: Come on. Don't you get it? Running off is just gonna generate more bad publicity. I can see it now -- wall-to-wall coverage of the manhunt for Adam Newman.
Chelsea: Wow. You know what? She's right. We should totally stay in town just to help out with Newman's P.R. Problem. Are you crazy?! This is Adam's future we're talking about. Victor has made sure to -- he's punishing all his family. I'm not gonna let him destroy our lives.
Victoria: I'm not asking you to. I'm asking you to stay and prove your innocence.
Chelsea: Oh, give me a break. Like you really care if Adam goes to jail or not.
Victoria: Look, I know it's not easy, but if you take off, dad wins. Is that what you want?
Chelsea: Do not play that card, Victoria.
Adam: Here's what I want. What I want is to spend the rest of my life with my family, not pacing a 10 by 10 cell.
Victoria: Well, if you become a fugitive, you're gonna be always looking over your shoulder, wondering if the guy next to you or the guy sitting across the table from you recognizes you and turns you in. And then do you know what happens?
Adam: Nothing good?
Victoria: Oh, you get hauled back here, where the deck is even more stacked against you.
Adam: I don't get this. Where are you coming from here? I mean, there's no love lost between us, right? I mean, in fact, you see me as a rival. So, I leave and you get to wash your hands of me. What's the problem?
Victoria: The bottom line is you're still my brother. And if dad is capable of doing this to you, he'll do it to me, he'll do it to nick, my mom. He's out to destroy us. We have to stop him. The only way to do that is if we stick together as a family.
Chelsea: What? What are you thinking?
Adam: I'm thinking I got some unfinished business with my father.
Chelsea: Wait. Mnh-mnh. No.
Adam: I'll be back.
Chelsea: Adam, just...can you wait two --
Adam: I'll be right back.
[Music plays softly]
[Knock on door]
Phyllis: Come in.
[Door closes]
Phyllis: [Whispering] What are you doing? Are you out of your mind? Jack could come up here any minute.
Billy: He's with Ashley. Talking about me, no doubt, about how I'm throwing away my life on a woman who's bound to crush me in the end.
Phyllis: Billy...
Billy: What?
Phyllis: I am not trying to hurt you.
Billy: But...? But it's better this way? It's not you, it's me? I'm gonna thank you one of these days? If I'm missing a cliché --
Phyllis: This is not easy for me, either.
Billy: It doesn't seem like it's that hard for you, Phyllis.
Phyllis: It is.
Billy: What are you doing here? What -- what are you trying to accomplish being here with jack? Are you trying to magically erase the memory of us making love?
Phyllis: Keep your voice down.
Billy: Or what I said to you in the park about how we could be together, how you would be my everything if you would just allow it to happen. No matter how hard you try, you can't forget, right? Neither can I.
Jack: I am done talking about Billy behind his back.
Ashley: Since when?
Jack: Since now. Since we just established a certain level of peace. And I'm not gonna jeopardize that in any way.
Ashley: So, you just want us to abandon him? Let him mess up his life again? Last time that happened, he ended up in the hospital, jack.
Jack: The last time was different.
Ashley: It was exactly the same. He lost Victoria and then he bottomed out.
Jack: He and Victoria have been apart for quite some time. He is coping. He's managing.
Ashley: No, he's in denial. I was telling Phyllis about this earlier.
Jack: Whoa, whoa. You brought Phyllis into this?
Ashley: I didn't bring her into it. I was hoping maybe she knew who this mystery woman was.
Jack: I wish you hadn't done that.
Ashley: Why? She cares about him, too.
Jack: She cares too much. And my marriage has suffered as a consequence.
Ashley: What are you talking about? When she teamed up with Billy against victor?
Jack: Well, that and when Billy and Victoria broke up, he really leaned on her. She was really there for him. Let's just say she's come to realize that that relationship has gotten in the way of what's really important.
Ashley: You?
Jack: Among other things, yes.
Ashley: [Laughs] Okay.
Jack: No, she has decided to back off. I think you should do the same thing. If Billy's ever gonna grow up, if he's ever gonna be the man, the father that we want him to be, we've got to stop cleaning up after him.
Ashley: Okay. I hear what you're saying. I just hope you're prepared for him to get hurt, because this fling, this relationship, whatever it is -- it just might cost him the love of his life.
Victoria: You know, unpacking might actually make the time go by more quickly.
Chelsea: No. That stays exactly where it is until I hear from Adam. You, on the other hand, feel free to leave. You've already caused enough damage as it is.
Victoria: I'm sorry, but I will not apologize for trying to stop my brother from doing something that he'll regret.
Chelsea: No. Something that you will regret. And will you stop it with the whole "my brother" bit? Most days, you treat Adam like crap, and you know it. So, why, Victoria? Why the sudden need to interfere? And I swear, if you say you are trying to protect Adam, I will scream.
Victoria: Fine.
Chelsea: "Fine" you want me to scream?
Victoria: No, you're right. Adam's wellbeing is not high on my priority list.
Chelsea: Finally something that sounds like you.
Victoria: But my family and my family's company are.
Chelsea: So, you want Adam's help saving Newman enterprises?
Victoria: Oh, I'm perfectly capable of running the company. In fact, I think I'm doing a pretty darn good job.
Chelsea: I'm sensing a "but" coming.
Victoria: But where my father's concerned, out of all of his children, Adam is the most like him. And to beat victor Newman, you have to think like him.
Adam: Bravo. To you, you know? I mean, I would give you a slow golf clap, but the acoustics in here kind of suck, I noticed, so...
Victor: To what do I owe this praise?
Adam: Oh, please. Don't be modest. Pretty impressive, doctoring sage's journal. I mean, I know that's not easy. I remember how many hours I had to log just pulling that same stunt off on you, but the fact that you were able to do it from inside a jail cell is... [Whistles] Impressive.
Victor: Michael Baldwin came up with the same nonsensical theory. Did he tell you what my response was?
Adam: Mm-hmm. He said you denied the whole thing. But here's -- here's the thing. You sat in that chair not too many days ago, right? And you threatened me. What was it that you said? You said I would regret this? So, framing me for murder -- I mean, that is -- that's a perfect move.
Victor: If this were true, I would come up with my own brand of hell.
Adam: Well, that probably is true. Can't tell. It's comforting.
Victor: You know what happened?
Adam: What happened?
Victor: You're caught in a web of your own making, son, and can't get out. How does it feel to know that you're innocent and you shout it out to the world and no one listens, not even your own flesh and blood?
Adam: Dad.
Victor: How does it feel?
Adam: You're not innocent.
Victor: How does it feel when you know you're innocent, no one listens to you, and the walls keep closing in on you, and the more you cry out, the more the walls keep closing in on you until you can't breathe --
Adam: Okay. I'm not gonna listen to this. You know, I'm not gonna --
Victor: Sit down! Sit down.
Adam: You ever gonna tell me what I did? To you? What makes you hate me so much? From the beginning, you know, just... I feel like I never got a shot with you. What -- what is it? Is it -- I'm -- I'm not as, what, loyal as Victoria, maybe? I'm not as decent as nick. I'm not as kind and sweet as Abby. I'll give you that. I'm not. I'm not any of those things, but you know what I am? Like it or not, I'm yours, maybe more so than the lot of them put together. Maybe you see that when you look at me and you hate me so much that you can't stand it. Maybe that's what it is. God, to hell with it. You know what? I am through, actually. I -- [Sniffles] I've spent my whole life trying to get your approval. It's just sucked the life right out of me. I'm done with that. I don't need it, and I don't want it. I've got my life now. I've got my wife. I've got my kid. I've got my family. And I'll tell you what. There's no way in hell I'm ever gonna let you take them away from me. You remember that.
Victor: Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay. Stay. Please sit down. Don't you remember? When you were a little boy on that farm in Kansas and I came over and we played? You know, we played a game in your mother's kitchen. We played soccer together. Don't you remember any of that? Don't you remember how proud I was of you when you came from Harvard business school? How I gave you all the opportunities in the world? What's the matter with you, son? What is it between the two of us?
[Lock disengages]
[Door closes]
Chelsea: Adam's nothing like his father. Okay, well, not in the ways that matter. For example, he doesn't put a price tag on his love. Adam gives everything to me and Connor without expectation, without hesitation. And you know what? You and your whole family could have experienced his love if you'd just let him.
Victoria: Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.
Chelsea: Adam is a good, compassionate man, things victor could only hope to be.
Victoria: Hey, you're right. Maybe we should have given Adam more of a chance.
Chelsea: Yeah. There's no "maybe" about it.
Victoria: Or maybe he's more like my father than you would care to admit.
Chelsea: Oh, so, now you're leaving?
Victoria: Uh, yeah, I'm leaving. After you so graciously invited me to.
Chelsea: I don't know. I just thought maybe you'd want to wait around and see what Adam decides.
Victoria: Why? I mean, it's gonna be all over the news tomorrow. Let's just hope for your sake and for all of our sakes that he decides to stay and fight.
Phyllis: Just go now. Please.
Billy: You don't want that. I know you don't.
Phyllis: What I don't want is to destroy my life, to destroy jack's life and your life by whatever this thing is between us.
Billy: This isn't a "thing," Phyllis.
Phyllis: Okay, then what is it?
Billy: I don't know. I don't know what it is, but I'm starting to think that I can't live without you.
Phyllis: Billy, just -- just go, okay? Just go.
Billy: You can make me leave, you can't make me take back what I said to you. You can't make me stop feeling what I'm feeling. You can't make me think that we don't belong together.
Phyllis: How? How is it gonna work? We cannot work.
Billy: Why not? Because of jack?
Phyllis: Yes.
Billy: Phyllis, I love my brother, but what you have is an illusion. It's a memory of what used to exist. What we have, what we -- what we could be is real. If you would just allow it to be, it would be real. And you know it.
[Door opens]
[Door closes]
Jack: Phyllis is not going to be happy.
Ashley: Oh, blame me. I just want Billy to find some happiness, you know?
Jack: So do I, but it's not on us. It's on Billy.
Billy: So, this is why my ears are burning. This is backing off, ash?
Ashley: I'm sorry. Old habits die hard.
Jack: I thought you'd already left.
Billy: I forgot my sunglasses. But don't let me keep you. You got big plans upstairs.
Jack: Yeah. We'll talk later?
Ashley: Bye.
Billy: So, go ahead. Tell me. What's the big plan to save me from myself?
Ashley: Nope. Not anymore. Not me.
Billy: Yeah, right.
Ashley: No, I mean it. No more interrogations, no more second guessing. Apparently, you're a grown man, so, I mean, see fit to live your life the way you want.
Billy: When does anybody really get that?
[Door opens]
Phyllis: Hey. What took you so long?
Jack: Oh, I got waylaid by Ashley. I -- oh. Hope you weren't too lonely without me. Is everything all right?
Phyllis: Yeah. I just missed you, that's all.
Jack: Well, we were just in bed together a couple of hours ago.
Phyllis: I know. That was before.
Jack: Before what?
Phyllis: Before that.
Jack: Is it just me or does this feel like a whole new beginning for us?
Phyllis: Forget the past. Just here and the now. It's just us, okay? It's just us.
Billy: Hit me, please.
Bethany: Okay, but it would be a shame to hit such a nice face.
Billy: Where do I -- where do I know you from? No, no. Wait. Don't tell me. Okay. You're gonna have to tell me.
Bethany: [Chuckles] I used to wait tables at on the boulevard.
Billy: That's -- that's right. You're, um...
Bethany: Bethany.
Billy: Bethany.
Bethany: Oh, okay. You knew that, too?
Billy: Of course I did. You're one of my favorites.
Bethany: Right. I only worked there a couple weeks before you sold the place, so... [Chuckles] You did make quite an impression on me, though.
Billy: Oh, really?
Bethany: There is that million-dollar smile. You know, I probably shouldn't say this --
Billy: Oh, no. You should. You should definitely, absolutely say it.
Bethany: I had a major crush on you.
Billy: Did you now?
Victoria: [Sighs] "Like father, un-like daughter. Newman enterprises in good hands." You may hate it, dad, but I'm gonna make you proud.
Meredith: All right. That's it. I am telling the warden to suspend any future visits from your family.
Victor: Please don't.
Meredith: No. Look at you.
Victor: No. Um... it's all right for my son to visit me, okay? Adam needs me. He doesn't want to admit to it, but I'm the only one who can keep him from ending up in here.
Meredith: I thought we agreed that you weren't going to confess.
Victor: I'm not going to. But I have to be honest with you. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Adam killed this unfortunate old lady.
Meredith: What?
Victor: I haven't said anything to anyone because I want to protect him.
Meredith: Okay, wait. Just... they've all been accusing you of setting him up, and all the while, you've had ammunition against him to put him away and you haven't used any of it?
Victor: Mnh-mnh.
Meredith: Victor, they don't deserve you.
Victor: I don't deserve you. You're giving me the courage to look forward to things.
Adam: Where's Victoria? Did she leave?
Chelsea: Yeah. I was surprised, too, but she said she trusted you would make your own decision.
Adam: I see. What about you?
Chelsea: Well, I trust you more than anything, and I know you'll make the right one.
Adam: To tell you the truth, when I left here, I wasn't sure what the right one was.
Chelsea: How about now? I assume you went to go see your father.
Adam: Clear as a bell. We don't run, baby. We stay here and we fight. We're gonna prove that victor's framing me, all right?
Chelsea: How?
Adam: I don't know. It's the only way we're ever gonna really be free. I need you with me on this one. Yeah?
Chelsea: Always.
Adam: I love you.
Chelsea: I love you, too.
Adam: Come here.
Chelsea: [Sighs]
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Devon: Is everything okay?
Lily: I'm being blackmailed by your bitch of a wife. Does that sound okay to you?
Hilary: I would never forgive myself if I didn't give you this news right now.
Bethany: You live with your mother?
Jill: Maybe you should learn something about the men you sleep with, dear.
