Episode # 10906 ~ Sharon takes matters into her own hands; an unexpected event forces Jack & Billy to call a truce.

Provided By Suzanne

Abby: Ben, I had one job, one job -- to provide a safe place for our baby to grow. And I was stupid, and I was clumsy, and I-I fell down the stairs, and now our baby is gone.

Stitch: Baby, people fall all the time.

Abby: If I hadn't insisted on wearing those heels, if I had just been practical for once in my life, then -- [Sniffles] Then maybe...

Stitch: It was an accident. But you are not to blame. No one is.

Abby: Hey, you two! What's going on? [Screams]

Ashley: Hey, you guys. Have you heard anything?

Nick: Not yet.

Victoria: No, Ben's still in with her.

Ashley: You know, for a second, I felt like I just wanted to go back to the lab and bury myself in work. What kind of a horrible mother am I to want to run away when my daughter needs me?

Victoria: Well, last I checked, you were still here.

Nick: Can you just tell Abby we were here and that we love her so much?

Sage: Yeah. Ashley, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Ashley: Thank you. Oh, God.

Victoria: Ashley...

Ashley: I know. Who gives a crap about all that other stuff, right, the Newman, Abbott -- [Sighs] Abby's both of our families, and so was that baby, Victoria. [Crying]

Victoria: Why does it always take something like this?

[Knock on door]

Billy: If you're here for another ride on my bike, it's in the shop.

Jack: It's not Phyllis. She's at a meeting about pass key.

Billy: Of course she is. So while she's occupied, you're here to, what -- confiscate my card key to Jabot and, what -- you want the password to my computer so you can delete everything just like you deleted me?

Jack: Billy, enough, okay?

Billy: I'll get my stuff out by tomorrow morning.

Jack: I'm here because our family needs us, both of us, now more than ever.

Cane: So, you were right. She -- you know, she was unstable. She was unsteady. There was nothing that made her trip. She just fell.

Lily: You checked the footage?

Cane: Uh-huh. I also checked the carpet. There's no sign of negligence on your behalf, the staff, or the club's.

Lily: Great. [Sighs] Well --

Cane: Hey.

Sharon: Hi. Um, I heard about Abby. Is there any word from the hospital?

Cane: She's gonna be okay. She's all right, though.

Sharon: Oh, thank God. Okay. And the baby? Oh, no. No, she lost the baby? I'm so sorry.

Cane: I know, I know. It's -- it's hard for a lot of us to -- to deal with. Um, can we do anything for you? Do you need anything, or --

Lily: We can get you a drink, maybe?

Billy: Nice try, Jack.

Jack: You don't even know why I'm here.

Billy: You don't get to do that, okay? You don't get to kick me to the curb and then come and play the family card the next day.

Jack: That's not what I'm doing, Billy.

Billy: Then why are you here? You want me to show up for some press thing for pass key, stand beside you and Phyllis and Victoria, smile for the camera, play nice even though I'm not on the payroll?

Jack: Are you finished?

Billy: Depends. Am I right?

Jack: I got a call from Ashley. There was an accident at Abby's baby shower. She apparently fell down a flight of stairs at the club.

Billy: She okay?

Jack: She's at memorial.

Billy: How'd that happen?

Jack: I guess she just tripped.

Billy: The baby?

[Both sigh]

Billy: I just saw her. She was on cloud nine about being -- excited about being a mom. And stitch, he doesn't deserve this after what happened with Katie.

Jack: Yeah, it's -- it's bad news all around.

Billy: Have you seen her?

Jack: I got a call from Ashley. I came straight here. I was hoping maybe we could set aside our differences if just for one night.

Billy: Let's go.

Ashley: Hi.

Dylan: [Sighs]

Ashley: I know. It's devastating.

Dylan: Have you seen them?

Victoria: We've seen Ben.

Ashley: Abby was in surgery, and Ben was with her, and I don't think she's woken up yet.

Dylan: How is he?

Ashley: [Groans, sighs] He's heartbroken. I know he's trying to be strong.

Dylan: I know how badly he wanted this baby. I feel sorry for both of them.

Ashley: [Sighs] Does Nikki know? I mean, I know she couldn't make it to the shower.

Dylan: Uh [Clears throat] She's actually come down with something. She's, uh -- she's home with Sharon and Sully.

Victoria: Home? Your home?

Dylan: Yeah. Yeah, she's actually staying -- staying with us for a little while.

Victoria: Oh. Uh, well, it's -- it's good that you're here. I know that Ben will be glad to see you.

Dylan: Just wish there was more I could do.

Ashley: Yeah, tell me about it.

Dylan: I mean, h-how does it work? Some people get lucky, some people don't? [Sighs]

Stitch: When I got back from Afghanistan... I was relieved... for a lot of reasons, obviously, but mostly because I thought... [Sighs] ..."Okay, that's it. After what I saw over there, there's no amount of pain or suffering that will ever get to me. Because nothing could be that bad."

Abby: [Sniffles]

Stitch: I was wrong.

Abby: Thank you.

Stitch: For what?

Abby: For not trying to make this better. For not saying that everything happens for a reason. I don't think I'd be able to stand that.

Stitch: There could be no possible reason for any of this. But I do want to know how to make things better. Tell me how, abs.

Abby: I can't. I don't know how. [Sniffles]

Stitch: Baby, we will be parents one day. [Sighs] What -- what am I saying? We already are, right? You and Max, you've gotten in such a good place, and I know it's only gonna get better. Hey. Abby, what's wrong? You feeling okay?

Abby: Uh, yeah. I just -- I just got a chill all of a sudden. That's all.

Stitch: Here. There. Finally. Something I can do for you.

Abby: I can think of one more thing.

Stitch: What's that?

Abby: Hold me.

Wes: Oh, hey. A return customer. Uh, same as last time?

Sharon: Thank you, Wes.

Wes: Is everything okay?

Sharon: Oh, I just found out the woman who fell here today, uh -- did you hear?

Wes: Uh, it's all the staff's been talking about.

Sharon: She lost her baby.

Wes: Oh, man. That's awful.

Sharon: Isn't it?

Wes: Losing a kid. Not sure I could get over that.

Sharon: I'm sure your girlfriend's an expert... being, you know, what her job is. A pediatric nurse sees a lot of joy, but also a lot of heartbreak, too.

Cane: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Where you going? I told your dad you're gonna rest. You have to go back upstairs.

Max: I can't sleep! I need to see my dad!

Lily: Max, Max, I know that you're worried. We all are, but your dad has to be at the hospital.

Max: How's Abby a-and the baby? Are they hurt? [Stammers]

Lily: Okay, look. If you -- if you want to see your dad, we'll take you to the hospital, okay?

Sharon: I've often wondered about people who work in the medical profession.

Wes: Mm.

Sharon: The intense days they must have.

Wes: Tell me about it.

Sharon: What about your girlfriend? Does she bring work home with her, or does she manage to leave it at the hospital?

Wes: Oh, it depends. Some things, she'd rather not talk about, at least not to me.

Sharon: I totally understand. Sometimes, it's better to talk to a friend.

Wes: Or a bartender.

Sharon: Or a shrink.

Wes: I'm a big believer. If it wasn't for this one psychiatrist...

Sharon: So, you've benefited from therapy. That's great.

Wes: Not me, my -- my girlfriend.

Sharon: Oh. Oh, was this during that rough patch when she broke up with you?

Wes: Good memory. Actually, it was before that. There was all this drama going on at her work.

Sharon: What kind of drama?

Wes: My girlfriend was accused of, uh, assisting older patients, sick ones, to an early exit, so to speak.

Sharon: Oh. I remember I read about this. They called her, uh...

Wes: "The angel of death."

Sharon: Right.

Wes: Fortunately, she started seeing the shrink.

Sharon: At the hospital?

Wes: Fairview -- you know, the mental institution?

Sharon: I've heard of it.

Wes: The doctor there really helped her. She used to say there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for that woman. Excuse me.

Nick: You're pretty quiet. The whole time in the hospital, I couldn't stop thinking about Christian... that nurse.

Sage: Stephens?

Nick: Yeah. Telling us he was gone. It's like nothing's been the same since. You know, there was life before she said those words, and then...

Sage: Life after that hasn't been so hot.

Nick: I feel like 2016 has been one calamity after another.

Sage: You know what a wise man once told me? He said, "just when everything seems like it's going wrong, it can all turn around in a moment, in the blink of an eye."

Nick: Who is this wise guy? What's he doing chatting up my wife?

Sage: [Chuckles] I love you.

Nick: I love you, too.

[Cell phone rings]

Sage: Oh. Sharon, hey.

Sharon: Can you talk?

Sage: Yeah. Well, Nick and I are at crimson lights. We just came from the hospital.

Sharon: I heard about Abby. It's terrible.

Sage: Yeah, it's just horrible. What's going on?

Sharon: I learned something about nurse Stephens, something huge. Should we talk tomorrow?

Sage: Um... no, Sharon. Why don't you join us? I think we should all stick together at a time like this.

[Door opens]

Ashley: How is she?

Stitch: Exhausted.

Ashley: Is it too soon for me to go see her?

Stitch: No, she -- she could really use some mother/daughter time.

Stitch: How are you doing?

Stitch: Just go see Abby. Hey.

Victoria: I wish I knew what to say.

Stitch: Your, uh -- your being here is enough. Thanks, Victoria.

Victoria: I'm gonna go grab some coffee. Does anyone want any?

Dylan: No, I'm good.

Stitch: No.

Victoria: Okay.

Stitch: You, um -- you didn't have to come.

Dylan: Yeah. Yeah, I did. I'm sorry, buddy.

Stitch: Thanks, Mac.

Dylan: What can -- what can I do for you? How can I help?

Stitch: Tell me how to do this.

Dylan: [Sighs] Which, uh -- which part?

Stitch: All of it. It's almost embarrassing the number of times I've had to walk out of a room just like this one and deliver bad news. Just matter-of-fact, so calm, as if the family is just supposed to accept it and move on. How do you move on from something like this?

Dylan: You can't. Just got to take it with you. Grief becomes a part of you... in the beginning, for the worse. But eventually... uh, it's for the better.

Stitch: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, huh?

Dylan: Yeah. That's what they say. But don't forget, you got Abby. The two of you, you guys can manage anything. And you know you got Max --

Max: Dad!

Stitch: Hey.

Lily: Hey. I'm so sorry. He just had so many questions.

Stitch: Oh, I-I understand. Thanks for bringing him in.

Cane: Hey, no problem. It's okay.

Max: How are Abby and the baby?

Stitch: Let's, um -- let's hit a vending machine. We can go somewhere and talk, okay? Thanks.

Cane: All right. Yeah.

Lily: God. What I wouldn't give to start this day over.

Cane: Hey, nothing you did led us here. Is there gonna be an investigation?

Dylan: No, I don't think there's any reason to involve the police. You know, might be some insurance questions, liability issues, but I don't -- I don't believe the club is at fault. You know, sometimes, it's just hard to accept that... bad things just happen.

Victoria: And you helped Johnny brush his teeth before bed? [Chuckles] Yeah, he pretends like he can do it on his own, but he can't. Good. Uh, Hannah, thank you for staying late, and give the kids a kiss from Mommy.

Billy: And one for Daddy, too.

Jack: I'll, uh, give you two a moment.

Victoria: No, Jack. Please stay.

Billy: She's right, Jack. Tonight's about family. How's Abby?

Victoria: I haven't had a chance to see her yet. Ashley's in with her.

Jack: And stitch?

Victoria: He's devastated, not that he'll let anyone help him. He's so focused on Abby.

Jack: Seems like yesterday the two of them were getting married, so full of hope and joy and promise, and... [Sighs] ...Now this.

Billy: Yeah, well, a lot's gone down since new year's eve, huh? Broken promises, dreams crushed.

Victoria: Well, even when the worst happens, there's still hope.

Billy: I have a hard time believing that Abby and stitch see it that way any more than I do right about now.

Ashley: Sweetie, I know that it all seems really hopeless right now. But you are young, and you are strong. And when you and Ben are ready, you can try to have another baby.

Abby: No, I-I don't want another baby. I want this one.

Ashley: I know.

Abby: Do you think that it was a sign?

Ashley: What?

Abby: Maybe I'm not meant to be a mother.

Ashley: Okay. I don't want to ever hear you say that again. And I'm serious.

Abby: Maybe I'm not -- maybe I'm not strong enough or wise enough or -- or good enough.

Ashley: Did you love that baby inside of you?

Abby: More than I ever thought possible.

Ashley: Well, what that says to me is you're ready to be a mommy. Just ask Max, right?

Abby: Or not.

Ashley: Honey, you won him over. That was not an easy thing to do. That right there should tell you you're ready. Trust your instincts. They're gold.

Stitch: I'm so sorry, buddy. I know how -- I knew you were excited about being a big brother.

Max: H-how is Abby?

Stitch: She's sad. She blames herself for falling down the stairs, which is crazy. It was just an accident. But she can't let it go. So we're gonna need to be extra supportive, okay? Give her all the love we've got. You think you can do that, huh? Look. [Sighs] We're all hurting. We probably will be for a while. But in time, it's gonna get better. I promise, okay? Max. Talk to me. What's going on?

Nick: You know, it's hard enough for adults to come to terms with something like this. But Faith --

Sharon: She was really excited about Abby's baby.

Sage: At least she has Sully to brighten her day. God knows he brightens mine. That little boy has no idea how much he means to so many people.

Sharon: Hey, would you mind if I borrowed Sage for a minute?

Nick: Secrets?

Sage: [Chuckles]

Nick: Don't know if I like the sound of that.

Sharon: Oh, it's just some boring work stuff.

Sage: Anything to take my mind off today.

Nick: Yeah, go for it.

Dylan: [Sighs]

Sharon: Oh. Hi. Sweetie, I-I didn't expect to see you here.

Dylan: I'm sure you didn't. I thought you were at home with -- with the baby, looking out for Nikki. What are you doing here?

Dylan: Is Nikki home with Sully? Because I-I don't know if that's a good idea right now. I --

Sharon: Uh, Nikki is asleep in the guest room, and I found another sitter to look after the baby. Everything's okay, Dylan.

Dylan: Oh. Okay. I'm sorry. I just -- I just got back from the hospital.

Sharon: How is stitch?

Dylan: He's doing his best to stay strong for Abby.

Nick: Well, Sharon and Sage were just about to talk shop, so why don't you let me buy you some coffee, unless cops drink for free around this place.

Dylan: Uh, only when the cop owns the place.

Sharon: We won't be long.

Dylan: [Sighs]

Nick: So...

Dylan: Yeah.

Nick: ...How are things at your place? Are Mom and Sharon getting along?

Dylan: Yeah, about as well as the Hatfields and McCoys.

Sharon: I hate to keep things from Dylan, but between Nikki moving in with us and stitch losing his baby, if he knew that I were on this nurse Stephens- Dr. Anderson kick --

Sage: He wouldn't exactly be supportive.

Sharon: No.

Sage: Yeah, I feel the same way about involving Nick -- not until we have something solid. Do we have anything? Did you find anything about the nurse's boyfriend?

Sharon: Plenty. Apparently, nurse Stephens owed Dr. Anderson a lot -- her sanity, her reputation, her career.

Sage: Well, that's a lot of IOUs to rack up. I wonder what Anderson cashed them in for.

Stitch: You're feeling guilty, aren't you?

Max: How'd you know?

Stitch: It's normal. For a while there, you wished Abby wasn't a part of our lives. There were times you probably maybe even hated her... and the baby. Wished they would both disappear? Maybe you think one of those wishes was so powerful, it caused Abby to trip and fall down those stairs. Max, that's impossible. What happened to Abby was an accident. We all think and say things that hurt other people, but that doesn't mean we want bad things to happen, certainly not something like this. You are a good kid, son... kind, loving, and thoughtful. I know that, and Abby knows that, too. So no more blaming yourself, got it? You did nothing wrong.

Lily: Hi.

Cane: Hey.

Lily: Everything okay over here?

Stitch: It is now.

Cane: Okay. You know, um, if you want, Max can stay with us tonight.

Lily: Yeah, do you want to sleep in the guest room and see Mattie and Charlie in the morning?

Max: Can I?

Stitch: Of course. Thanks, guys, really.

Lily: Yeah, of course. We're glad to help.

Cane: Least we can do to help.

Stitch: I should check on Abby.

Cane: Okay.

Max: Wait. Can you give her this? It's a card. I made it myself.

Stitch: She'll love it. Thanks, Max. I'll be in touch with you in the morning, okay? I love you.

Max: Love you, too.

Cane: We got him. Come on, man. Let's get rolling. Come on.

Max: Not yet.

Ashley: [Sighs]

Stitch: Hey. How's she doing?

Ashley: You know, not good. It's so hard to see this. I just -- it's very hard for me to handle seeing her like this.

Stitch: Hey, why don't -- why don't you go home?

Ashley: No, it's not gonna happen. I'm not gonna leave my daughter. I'm not gonna leave you. The two of you kept me going when I'd just about given everything up.

Stitch: Not that we had anything to do with it, though.

Ashley: I'm gonna make it up to you. I have to. She's broken.

Stitch: We'll put her back together.

Ashley: Promise?

Stitch: Come here.

Ashley: [Sobs] What am I doing? I should be comforting you, not the other way around.

Stitch: I don't mind.

Ashley: I mind. Go be with your wife. She needs you, and you need her.

Jack: Hey.

Ashley: Oh. Hi. We just wish it was the birth of a baby that had brought all three of you together.

Jack: How's Abby?

Ashley: Not very good.

Jack: How are you?

Billy: You got backup, so you don't have to be the strongest one in the room anymore.

Ashley: No, I think I've been far from the strongest one in the room. Just ask Victoria.

Victoria: She's been incredible.

Ashley: Thanks. We got to call Tracy, Jack, right? There's probably a lot of people that we should be in touch with, but I just can't handle thinking about all of it right now.

Jack: I'm here now. Take it easy. Breathe. Breathe.

Ashley: [Sobs]

Billy: Vick...

Victoria: I have to throw this out.

Sage: "The angel of death"?

Sharon: That's what they called her.

Sage: Oh, my God.

Sharon: According to her boyfriend, nurse Stephens was wrongfully accused.

Sage: But you think there's something to it.

Sharon: I don't know. I'm more interested in the Dr. Anderson angle. She really went to bat for Stephens in a big way. And what did she hope to get out of it?

Dylan: Who knew fashion could be so intense?

Nick: I hope Chelsea appreciates how hard you guys are working.

Sage: Well, we're on a deadline.

Sharon: Media blitz for Chelsea's new line. I hope we're not being to insensitive.

Dylan: No. I mean, part of me wishes I was on duty tonight to keep focused on something else. But we should get home to Sully.

Sharon: And Nikki.

Nick: Hey, thanks again for looking out for her. Uh, I know it's not easy, but play nice. I owe you.

Sharon: So big.

Sage: Will you give Sully a hug for me?

Sharon: Um, we'll talk in the morning.

Sage: Okay. Sounds good.

Nick: See you, bud.

Abby: [Gasps]

Stitch: Hey. It's okay. It was just -- it was just a dream.

Abby: It -- it felt so real.

Stitch: What was it about?

Abby: Uh, I-I was at the park. I was on the playground. I was -- I was pushing this baby swing... back and forth, back and forth. And I was so happy. And then when it was time to go, the swing was empty. Everything is empty.

Stitch: One day, we'll be in the park. The sun will be shining. The breeze will be warm, and everything will be different. It won't be a dream. And that swing won't be empty.

Abby: You don't know.

Stitch: Yes. I do, Abby. It's gonna happen.

Abby: You just know?

Stitch: Yeah. I'll tell you something else I know. I talked with your doctor today. I get to take you home in the morning.

Abby: Why not now?

Stitch: 'Cause you need your rest. Oh, and...I almost forgot. Here.

Abby: What's this?

Stitch: Max wanted you to have it. He's been so worried about you.

Ashley: Honestly, Jackie, I didn't think I had any more tears left to cry. Where'd Billy go?

Jack: I don't know.

Ashley: I can't tell you how good it was to see the three of you together. I don't suppose it means --

Jack: No, Billy is still fired.

Ashley: Because of Victoria?

Jack: You know what? I don't think we can blame all this on Victoria. Truth is, our little brother has needed a wake-up call for some time. He's been spinning out of control, not just his professional life but his personal life. Now it's bleeding into mine.

Ashley: What does that mean? What's going on with you and Phyllis? Talk to me.

Jack: Uh, you know what? We shouldn't be talking about me.

Ashley: No, we should. I could really use the distraction. What's going on at home?

Jack: It's as simple as this. Life is short. Real opportunities for happiness don't come along that often. I hope Billy realizes that before it's too late.

Victoria: Hi. Can I come in?

Billy: Yeah. Of course.

Victoria: I -- I got halfway home before I turned around, and I just wanted to make sure that you were okay.

Billy: Me?

Victoria: You didn't let on at the hospital, but I know that Abby's loss probably brought back memories of Delia. And the thought of you coming back to this empty house was just --

Billy: Well -- [Sighs] Thank you for thinking about me. But I'm not your problem anymore, am I?

Victoria: It's not that I think of you as a problem. I just know that you're probably hurting. Maybe I should just go.

Billy: Vick... don't go.

Billy: Not that I needed the reminder, but, yeah, you're right. It's hard not to think about Delia on a night like this. It's, uh... you know, as much as I love this place and as much as I'm trying to make it a home for Johnny and Katie, it feels like there's something missing. Dee loved it here. If she was still here, she'd be...

Victoria: She would have painted it pink.

Billy: [Laughs] She would have.

Victoria: You know, Billy... Delia doesn't just live on in a photograph. She lives in this house. She lives in the tree that we planted for her in the park. She lives in you. So as long as you live, she lives.

Billy: Yeah, as much as I try to believe that, as much as I -- [Sighs] Can I get you a drink?

Victoria: No, I shouldn't. Actually, I have to -- have to get home and relieve Hannah.

Billy: Right, right.

Victoria: So... good night.

Billy: Night.

[Door shuts]

Ashley: That was really good, what you just did there. I asked about you, and you answered about Billy.

Jack: I did that?

Ashley: Yeah, you did. I just hope you take your own advice... hold on to the happiness that you found with Phyllis. Come on. Talk to me.

Jack: No, I-I want to talk about you, your happiness.

Ashley: All I can think about is Abby, what she's gonna be going through in the next few months.

Jack: No, let's not think about months. Get through tonight and then move on after that.

Ashley: Are you 12-stepping me?

Jack: Is it working?

Ashley: Yes.

Jack: [Chuckles]

Ashley: Someday soon... Ben's gonna walk out of that door, 'cause we're all gonna be gathered around here waiting for the news, right? And he's gonna have a big smile on his face. And he's gonna say, "it's a --"

Jack: And you'll be a grandma.

Ashley: [Laughs]

Jack: Come on. Say it for me. "Grandma."

Ashley: Grandma.

Jack: Granny.

Ashley: [Laughs]

Jack: Grammy. Nana.

Ashley: Thanks, Jackie.

Jack: [Chuckles]

Ashley: Thank you so much.

Jack: I love you, ash.

Stitch: What's wrong?

Abby: That card, um... it's very sweet. It's just... those words. "Forget me not"? As if I could ever forget our daughter.

Stitch: Ashley told you?

Abby: She didn't have to. I just knew.

Stitch: You did?

Abby: I wanted her to be a girl. And not so I could dress her up and put bows in her hair. I mean, I would do that, obviously. But I wanted to see the way that she would look at you... the way that only a daughter can look at her father.

Stitch: Daddy's little girl, you know?

Abby: [Crying]

Nick: I cannot stop thinking about Abby and stitch.

Sage: Oh, there's nothing worse.

Nick: You know, despite all the memories this is bringing up for us... you seem oddly calm, almost serene.

Sage: Well, maybe that's because of you. You give me hope.

Nick: Go on.

Sage: [Laughs] All right, maybe it has nothing to do with you, then. Maybe after all we've lost -- I don't know -- I have a reason to hope. I can't explain it. I just... feel it in my heart. And I don't want to let that go.

Sharon: [Gasps]

Patty: No, no, no. Shh. You have to be quiet. If Dr. Anderson knew I was here, she'd kill me. Listen to me, Sharon. There is no baby. You are not pregnant.

Sharon: That's not possible. That's not possible. That's not possible!

Sharon: [Gasps]

Dylan: We are so blessed to have you in our lives, Sully. So, so blessed.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Sharon: I hope things go well for you. Take care.

Patty: Do you dream about the baby?

Mariah: You said that we were in it together. What happened to you?

Nikki: Your father still refuses to see me?

Nick: No. Dad's ready to talk.
