Episode # 10751 ~ Chelsea's world is upturned; Neil & Gwen reconnect; Phyllis & Jack go on a romantic trip.
Provided By Suzanne
Phyllis: Jack. It looks fantastic! The decorator did an amazing job!
Jack: Well, good. I'm glad you like it.
Phyllis: It's absolutely perfect! I mean, the fabrics and the colors -- I mean, the cabin has a whole new feel. You'd never know that....
Jack: Never know that two people were murdered here?
Phyllis: This has always been the most relaxing place -- your fortress of solitude, a place where you can get away from it all.
Jack: And it will be again, starting with this trip. I want to put all our troubles behind us and focus on just us.
Phyllis: Really? Just the two of us -- no phones, no text messages or e-mails?
Jack: All electronic devices off limits.
Phyllis: So, no talk about business?
Jack: None.
Phyllis: Even your decision to team up with Victor -- right? -- To stop the plots, real or imagined?
Jack: No, it is real, believe me, and, yes, that's off limits, too.
Phyllis: And no talk about why in the world you would hire Gabe Bingham to help you? Oops. Broke the rules already.
Adam: Can I get a scotch from you, please? You're Joe Clark, right?
Joe: Yeah.
Adam: Yeah. I'm --
Joe: Gabriel Bingham.
Adam: Yeah.
Joe: You got quite a reputation in the corporate world.
Adam: Well, thanks. You're no slouch yourself. I've heard about all your success in property development.
Joe: Yeah, notwithstanding the local warehouse district redevelopment program.
Adam: Yeah, that was a tough one. That was a tough one. Well, you win some, you lose some, right? I always say it's how you handle the losses that counts.
Joe: Yeah. I couldn't agree with you more.
Adam: Really? Sounds like you got something in the works right now. I'll tell you what -- why don't you let me top that off? I'll buy that for you. You can tell me all about it.
Joe: You interested in commercial development?
Adam: Well, I'm interested in anything that makes me money. You know what I mean?
Ashley: What the hell do you think you're doing?
Chelsea: Thank you for getting us back into our home so quickly. I'm sorry for all the confusion. We were moving to France, and then we weren't moving to France. But at least you'll definitely get your commission from Gabe's place, so I assume that's why you're here?
Realtor: I need him to sign the sales contract.
Chelsea: Oh. Uh...I thought you guys dealt with all the paperwork when he met up with you the other night.
Realtor: Mr. Bingham never showed up.
Gwen: Hey.
Neil: H-hey, Gwen. Sit down. Take a seat.
Gwen: Any word?
Neil: [Sighs] Nah. No. Nothing.
Gwen: How you holding up?
Neil: I'm trying to stay strong, you know, for Devon.
Gwen: I've been thinking about you... ever since we saw each other the other day.
Neil: Well, great minds think alike. That's why I called you. Um...wondering if maybe you'd like to go out again.
Gwen: I'd like that.
Neil: Yeah?
Gwen: Yeah.
Neil: Ah. How 'bout tonight? How 'bout some dinner?
Gwen: Sounds great. There's this Brazilian place I've been wanting to try.
Neil: Yeah. I love Brazilian. I'm just kind of thinking about maybe staying in, having a quiet night away from all the media attention.
Gwen: I understand.
Neil: Uh, last I checked, you could make a mean pasta primavera, right? Any chance I could convince you to step in the kitchen to make some?
Gwen: Sure.
Neil: Yeah?
Gwen: Mm-hmm.
Lily: Dad.
Neil: You know, that's my --
Lily: There you are. Sorry.
Neil: What? What? You look really -- what's going on? Does it have to do with the investigation?
Lily: Something happened.
Michael: Well, that's one more for the bucket list -- spend a night in a virgin islands jail.
Cane: It didn't quite live to the hype, did it?
Michael: [Chuckling] No, it didn't.
Cane: What are you doing here?
Devon: I came here to clear my name, 'cause I sure as hell can't count on the two of you since neither one of you believe that I'm innocent.
Chelsea: Okay. So, let me get this straight -- after you guys spoke the other night, you never saw him?
Realtor: No, and I need him to sign these papers ASAP.
Chelsea: Of course. I'll make sure he does. And thank you for everything and thanks for stopping by.
Realtor: Mm-hmm.
Chelsea: You've been very helpful.
Adam: Problem, Ashley?
Ashley: Yeah, I do have a problem, but I also have a solution -- stay away from Joe.
Adam: Wow. S-- yeah. Uh, not really my type.
Ashley: I know for a fact that Jack asked you to find out if he's somehow connected to the paragon project.
Adam: You do?
Ashley: Yeah.
Adam: Okay. Well, let's just say, hypothetically, you're correct. You understand that puts us on the same side, Ashley?
Ashley: I'm never gonna be on your side, ever, no matter what my brother tells you. Joe and I go back to when I was in new York, so if anybody's gonna get information from him, it will be me.
Adam: Okay. Well, just know this. While you're over there working your magic with lover boy, I'll be out there actually finding out who's behind paragon. Have a lovely evening.
Ashley: Bye. Yeah. Uh, call me as soon as you get this message, Jack -- as soon as you get it.
Phyllis: Is this your plan -- to ply me with alcohol so I'll stop ranting about your involvement with Gabe and Victor?
Jack: No. Actually, the plan was to allow you to rant all the way up here and maybe you'd get it out of your system. My plan didn't work.
Phyllis: I know you don't want to hear this.
Jack: But I'm gonna hear it anyway.
Phyllis: I think you're making a mistake, Jack.
Jack: Oh, you're right -- I don't want to hear that.
Phyllis: I'm serious.
Jack: I'm serious, too, sweetheart. I am doing what I believe is right for jabot and, more importantly, for my family. But, unfortunately, everyone I love seems to disagree with me. But you know something about that -- doing what you know is right and not caring what anyone else believes.
Phyllis: I may possibly have done that once or twice in my life, yes.
Jack: Can we please... get back to the house rules? And the house rules are we're here for us. We're here for this.
Phyllis: I know what you're trying to do.
Jack: Mm. You do? Then I'm doing it right.
Phyllis: You're trying to distract me.
Jack: How am I doing?
Phyllis: Jack...
Jack: How am I doing?
Phyllis: You're doing great.
Jack: [Chuckles]
Gwen: I'll let you two talk.
Lily: Thank you.
Neil: Yeah, thanks, Gwen. Uh, yeah. Okay. All right. What, what, what, what?
Lily: Cane and Michael were arrested in virgin Gorda.
Neil: Okay. Sit down. Tell me -- tell me everything from the beginning. Tell me what happened.
Lily: Cane found a witness who said that he saw a man moving a woman's body off the beach the day Hilary went missing.
Neil: Yeah. I-I already know all that. Devon told me.
Lily: Right. Well, the prosecutor found out that he and Michael were withholding the information and put them in jail.
Neil: So, do they need us to post bail?
Lily: No. They're out. They're trying to prove this witness was lying. I'm just -- I'm afraid that Devon is reaching his breaking point.
Neil: He was in pretty bad shape when I talked to him. Have you talked to him today?
Lily: No. He's not answering any of my calls. I think he's avoiding me.
Neil: Why would he be doing that?
Lily: Because I was trying to get him to open up about what happened that day with Hilary, and he thought I was accusing him of being responsible for her disappearance.
Neil: Were you?
Lily: Was I? No! I just let that story of the woman being dragged off the beach get to me, which is stupid, 'cause people will say anything to get $1 million.
Neil: Yeah.
Joe: So, what were you and gabe discussing earlier?
Ashley: Frankly, we don't like each other very much. I was afraid maybe he was talking smack about me to my date.
Joe: Oh. Talking smack, huh?
Ashley: Yeah. He was, wasn't he?
Joe: No. We were actually just discussing some business.
Ashley: Is he involved with that project you were telling me about?
Joe: Yeah, you're not gonna let up on that, are you?
[ Cellphone rings ]
Ashley: Excuse me. I'm sorry. I've got to take this. Thank you. I'll be right back.
Joe: Sure. Yeah.
Lily: Oh, hey. Do you have a minute?
Joe: Sure. Have a seat.
Lily: Okay.
Ashley: Really, jack? Now you're eavesdropping on my conversations?
Jack: What?!
Ashley: Yeah. That's how you know that i suspect that joe might be involved in the paragon project. Now don't try to deny it. I know you sicced gabe on him.
Jack: Look, I left something behind in your office, I came back to get it, and I overheard you making plans with joe.
Ashley: So you use that information to usurp my power.
Jack: Ash, we're on the same team. Look, if you'd been up front with me about suspecting joe, i mean, we could have found out the truth together.
Ashley: Why? 'Cause you don't think I can handle it on my own? Well, here's a news flash -- I can. Now stay out of my way.
Jack: [ Sighs ]
Ian: I'm sorry I startled you. I thought I was all alone out here. This area's so...isolated. And beautiful, don't you think?
Phyllis: Yes, I do.
Ian: I come out here to think... and stargaze.
Phyllis: It's a good place for both.
Ian: Yes. The stars are good companions. They listen to all of your troubles, but they don't offer helpful advice. They never tell you what you should do and how you should feel, like all the well-meaning people in your life do. Yeah. You see that one up there?
Phyllis: The bright one?
Ian: Yes. It outshines all the others.
Phyllis: Oh, yeah. I guess you're right. It does.
Ian: Well, don't think I'm crazy, but that's my wife. She just passed away.
Phyllis: Oh. I'm sorry.
Ian: Oh, don't be. I always told her that, uh... "we're tied together, my love, by a tiny thread that no one else can see." We still are. Oh. That's quite a ring you have there.
Phyllis: Thank you.
Ian: You been married long?
Phyllis: Yes... and no.
Ian: Okay. [ Chuckles ]
Phyllis: It's a very long and complicated story.
Ian: Well, please, pull up a rug.
Phyllis: [ Chuckles ]
Ian: It seems that you've come out here to, uh, think, too, huh?
Phyllis: My husband's family has a cabin nearby, so we came up to try to reconnect.
Ian: I take it that that's not going too well?
Phyllis: Why do you say that?
Ian: Because you're out here. He isn'T.
Phyllis: That is true.
Ian: If you want someone to talk to besides the stars...
Phyllis: You know, I, uh, am just having trouble with some of my husband's decisions lately.
Ian: What kind of decisions?
Phyllis: Business, mostly. Personal, too. He's been explaining to me why he's doing what he's doing, and, quite honestly, I just -- I don't know. I-I'm not really very comfortable with it all.
Ian: Hey, that's marriage, you know -- agreeing, disagreeing, thinking that you and your spouse share everything -- ideas, values, goals... only to discover that they see things... entirely different than you do.
[ Chuckles ]
Phyllis: I don't know what to do [Chuckles] Quite honestly. I wish for once the stars could give me some advice.
Ian: Well, if they did... they'd tell you that it all comes down to one thing -- trust. Trust your husband is making the right choices. If you can do that, all of the anger and resentment you're feeling will disappear.
Chelsea: Special project? Adam, what does that even mean? I can't even imagine. Jack wants revenge on Victor, and -- let me guess -- he wants your help.
Adam: Honey, you need to calm down. That is not why he hired me, okay?
Chelsea: Then why? Why? The three of you guys are coming together to build a shelter for abandoned puppies?
Adam: No. Just look -- there's someone out there that's threatening both abbott and newman, okay? Jack and Victor -- they decided it would be best to work together to try to figure out who this person is, and jack asked for my help. That's all.
Chelsea: So, you're telling me these two men who can't stand the sight of each other are now working together to fight some common enemy?
Adam: That's what I'm telling you.
Chelsea: They only have their best interests in mind here. What about yours?
Adam: Baby, I can take care of myself.
Chelsea: Like you did last time?
Adam: Oh, come on.
Chelsea: I'm going upstairs.
Adam: Just like that? Hey, baby, listen. We need to talk about this!
Chelsea: No. I am so done talking about this, adam. Victor plus jack equals disaster, and, once again, you're stuck right in the middle of it. And what's worse, you're dragging connor and me along for the ride.
Gwen: I'm really looking forward to tonight.
Emma: Well, I hope neil treats you better than devon did.
Gwen: This is different. Devon was using me. Neil isn'T.
[ Knock on door ] He's here!
Emma: I'll check on dinner for you.
Gwen: Hey!
Neil: Hey.
Gwen: Come in.
Neil: Thanks. Thanks for having me over. You know, with everything going on in my life, I really needed this tonight. Nice place.
Gwen: Thanks.
Neil: [ Sniffs ] Ooh! Something smells good!
Emma: Yeah, gwen's world-famous pasta primavera.
Neil: Hi. Hi, emma. Nice to see you again.
Emma: Hey. Not for long. Have fun!
Gwen: Will do.
Michael: All right. The plane is on the tarmac, gassed up and ready to go.
Cane: Okay. We'll keep you posted, all right?
Devon: Yeah. I want to know everything that's going on.
Cane: You got it.
Devon: All right?
Michael: We'll check in every day.
Devon: Thank you. Listen, guys, I'm sorry that i got mad --
Michael: All right. Let's save the "I'm sorrys" and the "thank yous" for later. You have got to get out of here now.
Cane: Hey. It's Cane ashby. Wait. Is he credible? What do they say? All right. Okay. Thank you. Okay. Thanks.
Devon: What is it?
Cane: We have another tip. Someone saw a woman on a gurney being loaded into a plane at a remote airfield the same day that hilary went missing.
Joe: Must be difficult with Cane gone -- you know, you working full-time and the kids getting ready to start school.
Lily: Yeah, but jill and esther have been a huge help, although the twins do miss Cane, especially charlie. You know how boys are with their dads.
Joe: Yeah. I wasn't that close to mine.
Lily: Well, Cane and charlie do everything together. Cane even learned the rules of american football because he knew how much charlie loved it.
Joe: Who doesn't like football?
Lily: Me! I don't like football. That's why charlie's so sad that Cane's gonna miss his first big game. I mean, it's just -- it's flag football, but it's a big deal to him.
Ashley: Hi, lily.
Lily: Hi.
Ashley: Hi! Sorry about that. I stopped off at the ladies' room after my call.
Joe: Yeah. Lily was just keeping me company.
Lily: Yeah. I'll let you two get back to your date.
Ashley: Okay. Good to see you.
Lily: You too.
Joe: See you.
Lily: Bye.
Joe: Work?
Ashley: Yes. It's nonstop ever since I became C.E.O.
Joe: Yeah, well, it's good now. At least you don't have to deal with Victor newman anymore.
Ashley: Very true. Very true. The abbotts are very happy now to have our family company back. Of course, the battle's not over yet.
Joe: Battle?
Ashley: Yeah, with Victor. A lot of unresolved anger and resentment after what happened when our companies merge, and, of course, you know Victor shot jack. I mean...
Joe: Yeah. That'd be something difficult to forgive.
Ashley: Especially since we know he's not finished trying to destroy my father's legacy.
Joe: The man can be ruthless.
Ashley: Yeah, well, guess what -- I can be ruthless, too. I'm not just gonna stand by and wait for him to strike again. Sorry. I probably said too much, but i figure if anybody understands how I feel, it's you, right?
Joe: Yeah. I certainly do.
Phyllis: Gone five minutes and you're already breaking the rules.
Jack: I was calling you, and you've been gone longer than five minutes. I was starting to worry.
Phyllis: Yeah. My phone is in the car, 'cause when we make an agreement, i stick to it.
Jack: I know you're upset with me about this whole Victor thing. So is ashley. For the record, I called her, as well. Look, I wish I could make you both understand I have to do this.
Phyllis: You made a promise, jack. You promised that he would stay out of our lives.
Jack: I love you.
Phyllis: I love you, too.
Jack: There's got to be something I can say, something i can do, to help get us beyond this.
Joe: Victor cost me a huge opportunity with that warehouse district redevelopment program. I mean, I lost the confidence of some of my best investors. He made me look like a fool, and you know how much I love that.
Ashley: I can understand why you wouldn't be a big fan of his.
Joe: No, but, uh, what he did to me is not half as bad as what he did to you and your family. But I --
Ashley: What were you gonna say?
Joe: I don't know if having a vendetta is the way to go.
Ashley: Really?
Joe: Well, look at what happened with the whole... dylan and avery thing when i tried to get back at them for what they did to me. It just made matters worse for everybody. I wish I never went down that road. Water under the bridge. I should have just moved on, focused on the future.
Ashley: You really mean that? I mean, you're letting go of the past?
Joe: Yeah. I really think you should do the same, too, ash. Forget about Victor and trying to get back at him. It's -- it's not worth it.
[ Cellphone rings ]
Adam: What do you want?
Ian: I'm calling to see if my partner's getting cold feet.
Adam: Cold feet? Look, I'm gonna do the job i told you I was gonna do, okay?
Ian: Gabriel... I get the feeling there's something you're not telling me.
Adam: Look, I don't know if it's paranoia that's got the best of you or what's --
Chelsea: Look. Look, jack, you team up with Victor if you want, but leave adam out of this. He's got enough stuff going on in his life right now.
Adam: Give me the phone. Sorry about that. Um...s-- hello? What in the blue hell was that, calling me "adam"? This could have been anybody on the phone.
Chelsea: I'm sorry. I-I-I'm sorry. I was upset. I wasn't thinking.
Adam: You weren't thinking? You're damn right you weren't thinking. You expose me like that?!
Chelsea: Oh, my god. Do you see -- do you see what's happening here? Victor's coming between us, like he always does.
Adam: Chelsea, only if you let him.
Chelsea: I can't believe this. I mean, we've been back from paris for how long, and we're already fighting over Victor. Do you see what I'm saying? We never should have come back here.
Phyllis: I hate that you're involved with Victor.
Jack: Yeah, that much I got.
Phyllis: And I am worried sick that something's gonna happen to you, you're gonna end up hurt.
Jack: Sweetheart, I know you are.
Phyllis: But... if this is what you need... I understand, and I will be behind you.
Jack: Thank you.
Phyllis: It does not mean that I have to like it or that I'm gonna keep my mouth shut about this.
Jack: Duly noted. I-I would expect nothing less. What changed your mind? Was it the walk in the woods?
Phyllis: I realized I have to trust you. And I do, jack.
Neil: So, if you ever decide to give up on accounting and finance...
Gwen: I can get a job as a chef?
Neil: No. You can cook full-time for me.
Gwen: Really?
Neil: Mm-hmm.
Gwen: How's the pay?
Neil: Minimum wage. But the fringe benefits -- let me tell you -- they're amazing.
Gwen: Let me think about it while I grab dessert.
Neil: What? Dessert?
Gwen: Homemade peach cobbler.
Neil: Man, babe. You're spoiling me.
Gwen: Mm-hmm. Neil.
Neil: Yeah?
Gwen: Uh, before I grab the dessert, I wanted to tell you something.
Neil: Yeah? What?
Gwen: I had a really nice time tonight.
Neil: Me too.
Gwen: Maybe we can skip dessert?
Neil: Uh-huh.
[ Chuckles softly ]
[ Speaks indistinctly ]
Devon: What exactly did this person say?
Cane: He said he saw a woman on a gurney being loaded into a private plane.
Devon: Are they sure that it was hilary? What about the flight? Where was it going?
Cane: I don't know.
Devon: I need answers to these questions.
Cane: Well, I can't give you answers -- we don't have them.
Devon: Then I will get them. Where is this person at? How do I find them?
Cane: I don't know, so i can't give you this information.
Michael: Cane is right. You need to calm down and let us deal with this.
Devon: If that was hilary being loaded onto a plane --
Michael: We don't know that it was.
Devon: I need to find out!
Michael: No, no, because you got to get on a plane yourself and leave virgin gorda.
Devon: Michael, stop telling me what the hell to do, all right?! I'm not gonna leave this island until I find out what happened to my wife!
Hilary: [ Moans ]
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Mariah: Have you been to the doctor? Are you pregnant yet?
Victor: Not a word of what you and I have discussed leaves these four walls. Is that clear?
