Episode # 10695 ~ Phyllis & Billy pursue information about Jack; Avery tells Paul she is being stalked.
Provided By Suzanne
Lily: Joe?
[Cell phone rings]
Cane: [Sighs] Voicemail.
Lauren: Why didn't you leave a message?
Cane: 'Cause it's obvious to me she doesn't want to talk to me. That's why.
Lauren: Lily is angry, and she's hurt.
Cane: I've reached out to her. I've told her the kiss between you and I meant nothing. I've defended myself against an affair that we are not having. I just don't know what else to do.
Lauren: Don't give up. You and lily love each other, and you have two beautiful children.
Cane: I know we do. And that's why I keep fighting. I just... I don't think I can fix this.
Avery: Paul, I-I called 911. I didn't expect the chief of police.
Paul: Well, I was in the area when your call came in. What's the situation?
Avery: Oh, I just want the stalking to stop.
Paul: You reported somebody breaking into your apartment.
Avery: Yes, I heard a noise in my bedroom, and when I went to check on it, the window was open and there were papers knocked off my dresser.
Paul: Did you see anyone?
Avery: No, but someone was in there. And, Paul, I know who it was.
Lily: Joe. Hi.
Joe: Hey. Sorry I took off. I-I had to clear my head. I... I went for a walk.
Lily: Yeah, I, um, fell asleep, and... when I woke up, I thought I dreamed what happened, that we didn't really sleep together.
Joe: Yeah, but we did.
Adam: How you boys doing? What, are you discussing what the plan is now that Kyle sold us down the river to the cops?
Kyle: What the hell are you talking about?
Adam: I just got brought in for questioning. What's going on?
Kyle: Summer told Paul that if he looked into my trip to the Caribbean, he'd find proof that we framed Victor for embezzlement.
Adam: Is that just pillow talk that you let slip, or...?
Kyle: She figured it out for herself.
Adam: She's a smart girl. Did you confirm it?
Billy: No. Kyle told Paul that he and summer had an argument and she's pointing the finger at him out of spite.
Kyle: What's one more lie?
Adam: Well, I'm sure dad would be proud of you, little brother.
Kyle: Don't call me that.
Adam: It's gonna take some getting used to.
Billy: Not if it isn't true. I want proof of who you are.
Marco: Was that Victor I just saw leaving?
Phyllis: Yes. Yes. Uh, we had a very interesting conversation.
Marco: I'm glad to hear it. About what?
Phyllis: You and him.
Marco: And it was just interesting?
Phyllis: Well, things got a little testy.
Marco: Let me guess. He accused me of setting him up for embezzlement.
Phyllis: Well, I called him out on that. I also told him that you thought his arrest was part of an elaborate plan he cooked up to kill you.
Marco: Why did you tell him that?
Phyllis: That's what you think, isn't it?
Marco: I don't need him knowing that I'm thinking. Stay out of this from now on.
Phyllis: Like hell I will.
Adam: I don't have to prove anything to you, Billy, or to anyone, for that matter.
Billy: Well, if you think that you're going to sit down to dinner with our family, we deserve to know that you even belong at the table.
Adam: What are you afraid of? You afraid I'm here to steal the Abbott fortune?
Billy: That certainly crossed my mind, but it's more Jack that I'm worried about.
Adam: Well, dad's a big boy. He can take care of himself.
Billy: Let me explain something to you, Bingham. I'm not gonna let you worm your way into my brother's life. I don't want to see him get hurt when the truth comes out.
Adam: Jack already knows the truth.
Billy: Indulge me.
Adam: Why? Because the rest of the world does? I don't think so.
Billy: I like him so much.
Kyle: [Scoffs] Guy's a jerk. But we may have to start facing the fact that he is actually an Abbott.
Billy: Oh, he's lying.
Kyle: Look, I hate the guy as much as you do, but... okay, maybe not as much as you do. But dad seems to have accepted that Gabe's his son. Why would he do that if it weren't true?
Billy: That's a good question.
Phyllis: Victor is trying to kill you, and you want me to stay out of it?
Marco: It's better you're not involved.
Phyllis: Oh, or any part of your life, apparently.
Marco: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Come on. That's ridiculous.
Phyllis: Oh, really? You didn't tell me about the Latin lover. You didn't tell me about this long-lost son. And you have kept me completely in the dark about what's going on with you and Victor.
Marco: All right --
Phyllis: And, oh, yay, you're packing a pistol these days.
Marco: All right, there are a few things I didn't mention.
Phyllis: A few major things.
Marco: I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Manuela. That was a long time ago. I didn't think that mattered. As far as Gabe goes, I just found out about that myself. It was part of a sordid affair, and I wasn't terribly proud to admit that he was my son. As far as Victor and I are concerned, it's just business.
Phyllis: I work at Newman-Abbott. Remember?
Marco: I know that. Since the merger, things have gotten out of whack.
Phyllis: So out of whack he wants you dead?
Marco: Okay, maybe I exaggerated a little bit. Victor and I had a disagreement. Everything is worked out now.
Phyllis: How do I know you're not telling me this just because you don't want me to worry?
Marco: You have nothing to worry about. I am fine. I have too much to live for. Trust me?
Phyllis: Do I have a choice?
[Cell phone chimes]
Marco: Um... I have to deal with this. We okay?
Phyllis: One more kiss and we might be.
Marco: Ooh, I guess it's got to be a good one, huh? How was that?
Phyllis: Did the trick.
Avery: Well?
Paul: I checked every inch of the place. No sign of an intruder.
Avery: What about the window in the bedroom?
Paul: Well, there was no sign of forced entry. The window's fine. Maybe you forgot you left the window open and the wind blew the papers off the dresser.
Avery: No, Paul, it was Joe! He's stalking me!
Paul: I know that's what you've been saying. I just --
Avery: Yes, because it's true! Look, I-I did what you asked me to do. I called the police. Now you have to do your job and arrest him.
Paul: Avery, you know as well as I do I can't do that without just cause.
Avery: The man was in my apartment tonight!
Paul: There's no proof, and there was no proof of a crime last time, either.
Avery: So, what? You think I'm making this up? The boy who cried wolf?
Paul: I didn't say that.
Avery: Because we know how that story ends. The boy is killed. Is that what it's gonna take for you to arrest Joe? I have to turn up dead first?!
Joe: Yeah, I think we need to talk about what, uh, what we did.
Lily: No, no, I am just gonna forget about how you followed me up here and you came on to me when I was feeling insecure and vulnerable.
Joe: What happened to you wanting revenge and -- and payback?
Lily: Well, if you hadn't --
Joe: If I hadn't what? Stopped you from getting that drink?
Lily: No, if you hadn't kissed me --
Joe: Lily, you kissed me!
Lily: I-I admit that it was -- it was a mistake, a huge one.
Joe: And now you just -- you want it to go away.
Lily: I just think it's best for everyone if -- if Cane doesn't know what happened.
Joe: Yeah. I never meant to hurt you or Cane.
Lily: So do I have your word, then? You won't say anything to anyone?
Lauren: I am not letting you give up on your marriage.
Cane: And I don't think it can be fixed.
Lauren: Now, I know what a broken marriage looks like. And this isn't it. Lily is furious with you, which means she still cares.
Cane: [Scoffs] I hope you're right, so...
Lauren: It's over when all that's left is apathy. If, uh, Michael could have shown me even the slightest bit of emotion, I wouldn't have signed those divorce papers.
Cane: Wait, wait, wait. You agreed to the divorce?
Lauren: I did everything I could to save my marriage. And he just pushed me away.
Cane: And towards me.
Lauren: [Sighs]
Cane: A lot of men go through what he goes through, but they don't go and destroy other people's families, do they?
Lauren: I am so sorry that his crazy plan has caused you so much pain. But you and lily are not Michael and me, and neither one of you wants a divorce. Lily loves you. Go to her and make it right.
Lily: So, will you keep this between us?
Joe: Yeah, it'll be our little secret.
Lily: Thank you.
Joe: Well, I got to admit my motives aren't strictly altruistic. In case you didn't know, I'm not the most popular guy in town. And last thing I need is another reason for people to think that I'm a sleaze. I just...
Lily: What?
Joe: I hope you don't feel that way.
Lily: [Chuckles] I think it would be pretty hypocritical of me to pass judgment on you at this point.
Joe: Yeah, what happened, happened.
Lily: Well, thank you for your discretion.
Joe: You know, for what it's worth, I think Cane's a fool for not treating you the way you deserve.
[Door closes]
Kyle: I don't know. Maybe finding out that summer isn't dad's daughter hit him harder than we realized, and that's why he's so keen to hand us cigars over news about Gabe.
Billy: See, I would think that that debacle would make him less likely to believe Gabe's claims. I mean, has he even run a DNA test yet?
Kyle: No, not that I know of.
Phyllis: Hi. Have you seen Jack?
Billy: No. Is everything all right?
Phyllis: Well, he just left the lab. I thought he might be here. He forgot his wallet. His whole life's in here, so I thought I should get it back to him.
Billy: Well, we haven't seen him, but I'm glad you're here.
Phyllis: Oh. That sounds ominous. What's going on?
Billy: We, uh, we wanted to talk to you about Jack's new son.
Kyle: Yeah, were you as shocked as we were to find out that dad is Gabe's father?
Phyllis: Well, shock and awe seems to be the order of the day with my husband lately.
Billy: Okay, so what do you know about Jack and Gabe?
Phyllis: Well, he had a brief affair with Gabe's mother, and he didn't know until just recently that she had Gabe shortly afterwards.
Billy: See, that -- that right there. I mean, just because she was pregnant then doesn't mean that Jack was the father.
Phyllis: Yeah, but why would she lie that her child was not her husband's?
Billy: I don't know, but it's all just so convenient. I mean, Gabe shows up out of nowhere. He says that he has this vendetta against Victor for ruining his father. But then he tells us that Jack is his father. I mean, what does that mean?
Phyllis: Yeah, and we didn't know anything about an affair or a woman or a child.
Kyle: Yeah. I mean, it's a lot to take in, but I guess it doesn't mean that it's not all true, right?
Billy: I don't care what Jack says. My gut tells me that Gabriel Bingham is no Abbott.
Phyllis: Well, I'm beginning to wonder if we can't say the same thing about Jack.
Marco: This better be important.
Adam: We have a problem, Jack.
Marco: Well, I usually have an answer.
Adam: Not unless you can alter science, you don't.
Marco: Let me guess. Your new family is questioning whether or not you're really an Abbott.
Adam: Yeah, they're not gonna want to take your word for it. It's not good enough. They want proof.
Marco: So let's give it to them.
Adam: How?
Marco: Using something -- perhaps you've heard of it -- called a paternity test.
Adam: Oh. Oh, my God. Yeah, you know, you're right. A paternity test. Why didn't I think of that? You have the answer for everything, except one tiny, little problem. That's just gonna prove that I'm not your son, Jack.
Marco: Relax. I've got this handled.
Adam: If Kyle and Billy force me to get my cheek swabbed, it's gonna open up a whole can of worms neither one of us wants anything to do with.
Marco: What is it you're really worried about here? That everyone's gonna find out you're not an Abbott or that you are a Newman?
Kyle: What do you mean, you don't think that dad's really an Abbott?
Phyllis: I'm saying that he's not acting like an Abbott lately.
Billy: Which is weird considering the guy wrote the rule book.
Kyle: And drilled it into the rest of us. I mean, the only thing I heard when I got back to Genoa city is how I needed to be more responsible, learned what it meant to be an Abbott.
Phyllis: Your father has always been so proud to carry on his father's name and legacy. But the way he's been behaving lately...
Billy: It's nothing like dad.
Phyllis: It is nothing like Jack. I can barely even recognize him. He is cold and cutthroat and doing unexplainable things that are completely out of character.
Billy: You mean like the merger?
Phyllis: Give me one good reason he would team up with Victor.
Billy: Are you kidding me? I can't.
Phyllis: Yeah, well, neither can Jack.
Billy: All right, Phyllis, what are you saying?
Phyllis: That I have some questions for Jack. And I think the both of you do, too.
Kyle: Yes. But who's gonna ask them?
Billy: Me. I plan on getting some answers.
Adam: You know, I'm not the only one with something to lose here, Jack. If Kyle and Billy force me to take a DNA test --
Marco: I told you I would take care of this.
Adam: Meaning what? Meaning you're gonna manipulate the results?
Marco: Meaning I will take care of it.
Adam: Okay. No, that -- that's great. I got to tell you, though, I am just -- I'm surprised that you put us in this position. Having to lie about my paternity, especially since what happened between you and summer.
Marco: Okay, Victor had me backed into a corner. It's the best thing I could come up with on short notice.
Adam: Backed into a corner? Well, I remember the time when -- when Jack Abbott wouldn't let himself get backed into a corner.
Marco: Happens to the best of us.
Adam: It never used to happen to you. You used to be the smart one, Jack. You used to think things through, not like this whole embezzlement scheme to bring Victor down.
Marco: Look, you want to bring him to his knees every bit as much as I do.
Adam: Twice as bad as you do, but your plan sucks, Jack. It's horrible.
Marco: My plan is working.
Adam: Well, now you've complicated things, haven't you, with this whole paternity thing. This is supposed to be united effort. Your family doesn't trust me. Chelsea's not talking to me.
Marco: Whoa, whoa, whoa. So that's what this is really about.
Adam: Jack, I think we could have come up with a better plan.
Marco: Yeah, I could have told them who you really are. Still can.
Adam: Yeah, no, you could do that, and then I would just go to the cops, have to tell them that Billy shot me.
Marco: Let's tone down the rhetoric here. Neither one of us wants your real identity to come out.
Adam: Yeah, 'cause it wouldn't be pretty if Billy and company found out that you've been protecting me this whole time.
Marco: No, and I need them on my side at Newman-Abbott to make sure we get Victor out. That is my number-one priority.
Adam: Really? So -- so bringing Victor down is more important than your family?
Marco: Once I crush him once and for all, everything will fall into place.
Lauren: Listen, I'm gonna check the boutique. You know what you have to do.
Cane: Find lily, work things out, get back together. I got it.
Lauren: Yes. You and lily really have something worth fighting for. Do not forget that.
Cane: I just hope she hasn't. Thank you.
Lauren: Of course.
Cane: Okay. Hey!
Joe: Hey.
Cane: Hey, uh, have you seen lily?
Joe: No, no, I haven't.
Cane: She's probably working out some crisis or something.
Joe: Yeah, probably.
Cane: So, what are you doing? Hang out with me. I got to wait for her. Join me at the bar. We'll have a drink.
Joe: Yeah. Sure.
Cane: Cool. Excuse me. Can I get two beers, please? Thank you. [Sighs] Thanks. So, I, uh... we had this situation earlier. I wanted to come by and, you know, kind of work things out with her.
Joe: Yeah, you two going through a rough patch?
Cane: Yeah, yeah. You know, whoever said marriage is easy, well, obviously they haven't been married. Here. Cheers.
Joe: Wasn't me, that's for sure.
Cane: [Scoffs] So you regret it?
Joe: Uh, getting married?
Cane: No, no, no. Not getting married. Throwing in the towel.
Joe: Yeah, you know, I was an idiot. Even good people make mistakes, like Avery. I just...I let pride and anger get in the way of what was important to me, and it cost me everything.
Cane: Yeah, but lily isn't Avery. And I know one thing. She would never cheat on me.
Paul: Avery, my hands are tied. I've got nothing to go on here.
Avery: If you looked harder, you'd find something!
Paul: Look, I understand you've been under a lot of stress the past few months, what with Joe falling off the balcony and thinking that he's never gonna walk again, your breakup with Dylan.
Avery: So you think that I'm -- you think I'm cracking under the pressure, that I'm imagining all this?
Paul: No --
Avery: That's not me, Paul. The last thing that I would want is to be a victim. You know that.
Paul: Listen, Avery, I don't think you're crazy, and I don't think you're making this up. But I do think that where Joe is concerned, your judgment is a little clouded.
Avery: No, I think it's quite the opposite. I am seeing things very clearly now.
Paul: Okay. As an attorney, you know that I cannot arrest Joe without evidence.
[Knock on door]
Lily: Hi.
Paul: Hi.
Lily: I'm sorry. Am I interrupting?
Paul: No, not at all. Avery and I are -- are finished.
Lily: I-I saw a squad car downstairs. Did something happen?
Avery: Yeah, I thought so, but apparently the police don't take stalking very seriously.
Lily: Stalking? Who's stalking you?
Avery: Joe is bothering me, and I was hoping that the police would look into it, but they're not interested.
Paul: No, that's just not true. In fact, maybe lily can help. Joe is staying at the club. Did you happen to see Joe this evening?
Lily: Uh, y-yes, I saw him at the bar.
Paul: Can you tell me what time that was?
Lily: No, I don't -- I didn't notice.
Paul: Okay. Did you see him leave?
Lily: No. I'm sorry.
Paul: That's all right. Look, Avery, I will -- I will talk to Joe, and I'll see what I can find out.
Avery: I appreciate that.
Paul: Okay. Ladies.
Avery: Um, lily, you know, if you're here for a legal matter...
Lily: Actually, it's -- it's personal. It has to do with Joe.
Avery: What about him?
Lily: I lied to Paul about seeing him at the club.
Avery: So he wasn't there?
Lily: No, he was, but I didn't just see him. I slept with him.
Avery: You slept with Joe?
Lily: I know. I know. I should have stopped it. I should have.
Avery: Wait. He didn't --
Lily: No, no, no, no, no. I am just as responsible for what happened as he is.
Avery: So it was consensual?
Lily: Yes, Cane and I, we had this fight, and I was furious at him, and I-I go to this empty room and I'm about to drown my sorrows in alcohol, and then Joe walks in, and -- and, you know, one thing led to another, and --
Avery: And you wound up in bed with him.
Lily: [Sighs] God. What have I done? What have I done? I've completely destroyed my -- my marriage, my -- my family, my kids, my... Mattie and Charlie.
Avery: Okay, lily, take a breath. Nothing is destroyed.
Lily: But if Cane ever finds out --
Avery: He won't. He won't if you don't tell him.
Lily: I'm not planning on it, but...
Avery: You're worried about Joe.
Lily: Yeah, he -- he promised he wouldn't say anything, but that's why I'm here because you know him better than anyone. Can I trust him?
Avery: [Sighs] With something like this, I'm sure you can.
Lily: What does that mean?
Avery: Well, Joe wants to be this respectable, law-abiding citizen in town, and sleeping with his friend's wife doesn't exactly paint that picture. Listen to me. You have got to stay away from him.
Lily: I know. I'm such a hypocrite. I gave Devon and Hilary so much grief for what they did, and I... I accused Cane of having an affair with Lauren, and then...I sleep with Joe. Like, what is wrong with me? In a room that looks just like what we've spent our anniversaries in and... clothes -- he's taking off. Like, God, even this -- this dress just makes me sick! I... I can't face Cane in this dress. I cannot. I can't do it.
Avery: You don't have to. Listen to me. You can clean up here. You can take a shower. You can borrow some of my clothes.
Lily: Really?
Avery: Yes. Of course.
Lily: Thank you. Thank you. I... I feel so bad for not helping Paul with his questioning.
Avery: So I guess if you were with Joe, he really does have an alibi.
Lily: Well, maybe not.
Avery: What do you mean?
Lily: I fell asleep, and when I woke up, Joe wasn't there, and he came back and said that he went for a walk. But I have no idea how long he was gone for.
Avery: Or where he went.
Lily: He could have gone anywhere.
Joe: Well, I never thought Avery would cheat on me, but, uh...
Cane: Lily is not Avery.
Joe: Well, be careful about putting her on a pedestal, buddy. She's human.
Cane: You know what? I know you loved Avery, but... if you knew what lily and I went through to be together, if you knew what it took to have our kids and have our family, you would know that she would never jeopardize that. And I know that our marriage is not that broken that we can't fix it, so...
Joe: I hope you're right.
Cane: Me, too. See, all I got to do is get lily to forgive me and know she can trust me, and then everything's gonna be fine.
Lauren: Paul. Hi.
Paul: Hi. How are you doing?
Lauren: Wow. Well, uh, I've been better.
Paul: Oh, it's not Michael, I hope.
Lauren: Yeah, I-I signed the divorce papers.
Paul: Oh, I'm so sorry.
Lauren: Yeah. Thanks.
Paul: Is there anything I can do?
Lauren: You know, Michael could probably use a friend. Even though he's the one that pushed for this.
Paul: Okay, I can give him a call. But, uh, what about you? You shouldn't be going through this alone.
[Cell phone rings]
Paul: Oh. Excuse me.
Lauren: I'm not.
Marco: I'm glad you called. I need to speak to both of you.
Billy: Please. Go first.
Marco: Well, now that Victor has been charged with embezzlement, we need to get the family together to discuss how we move forward.
Billy: Does that include Gabe?
Marco: He is my son. I want him there. Yes.
Kyle: Billy and I actually want to talk to you about that.
Billy: Yeah, we think Bingham needs a DNA test.
Marco: I absolutely agree.
Phyllis: Not gonna start calling me mom, are you?
Adam: No, no. Not if, uh, not if Kyle and Billy have anything to say about it.
Phyllis: Didn't get the warm welcome you were hoping for?
Adam: Did not get that warm welcome, which is -- which is not really surprising considering the whole "sleeping with Billy's fiancée" thing and the fact that Chelsea and I are now together. Well, were together, actually.
Phyllis: Oh. She wasn't too happy about the big news, either?
Adam: Uh, she wasn't happy that I kept it from her.
Phyllis: Well, I can't blame her. You expect the person you love to be truthful.
Adam: Are we still talking about Chelsea and me or we talking about something else?
Phyllis: Jack has got a list so big of things he hasn't told me the truth about.
Adam: Well, you know, maybe he's just trying to protect you.
Phyllis: Oh, like after I woke up from the coma? He claimed that's why he didn't tell me he moved on with Kelly.
Adam: But you forgave him, right? You guys -- you guys worked it out?
Phyllis: Oh, yeah. I did. We got married. [Chuckles] Went to the Caribbean. We eloped. Everything was perfect. Then...
Adam: Something change?
Phyllis: Oh. Jack. Thought it was my imagination, you know? I said to myself, "you know, you're expecting too much, Phyllis." Little fairytale syndrome, you know?
Adam: But what?
Phyllis: Wasn't my imagination. Jack has become someone I barely recognize.
Adam: Really?
Phyllis: Yeah. He's not the man he used to be.
Adam: I think you're right. I think you're right. He is changed.
Phyllis: Why would you say that? You didn't know the old Jack.
Adam: Jack and I used to work together before I came to Genoa city, so I-I do know the old Jack.
Phyllis: Right. Yeah, forgot that. But you have seen the change in him, right?
Adam: Yeah, I have. I mean, I think he's definitely more intense, you know. I think he's under a lot of pressure. He's stressed out a little bit.
Phyllis: Yeah, I'm worried. I'm worried. I'm so worried, I'm doing things I never thought I'd do before.
Adam: Things like what?
Phyllis: Go through his wallet.
Adam: Oh.
Phyllis: Yeah, I don't know what I thought I was gonna find. Maybe a clue as to what he's -- what he's up to.
Adam: How'd that go? You find anything?
Phyllis: Nope. And I feel real bad that I have to snoop around his personal things, but I just -- with the way he's been acting, I just -- I'm starting to get scared.
Adam: How so?
Phyllis: When we got back from the honeymoon, Jack said that he did not want to worry about business affairs anymore, and Billy confronted him. And he fired him.
Adam: Mm-hmm.
Phyllis: That same night, I caught him drinking.
Adam: Caught him drinking after everything you went through to keep him sober?
Phyllis: That was my first inkling that something was off. And then he announced he was merging Jabot and Newman enterprises.
Adam: Which was clearly a mistake. A bad plan for sure. But I don't understand how that would scare you, Phyllis.
Phyllis: Tons of small things have been there just right down to the way he dresses. It just doesn't feel the same when I'm with him. Something's missing.
Adam: Missing? What do you suppose that is?
Phyllis: His warmth. I used to see it when I'd look in his eyes. And now I look there, and it's cold. It's empty.
Adam: It doesn't sound like him.
Phyllis: We're not connecting the way we used to. We don't laugh the way we used to. We're supposed to be in the honeymoon phase. But I just -- I feel like I've lost my husband. And I miss him. But, you know, hey, it's -- it's not like he's gone anywhere. You know, this is silly.
Adam: You know what? It doesn't sound silly at all, actually. I understand completely.
Billy: Terrific. So you'll make Gabe take a DNA test, then?
Marco: Look, I had an affair with his mother. The timing is right, but like you, I-I want to be sure.
Billy: Glad to hear you say that. Surprised, but glad.
Kyle: Me, too.
Marco: Hey, I don't want there to be any doubt, either.
Billy: All right, so you want me to set things up, contact Gabe?
Marco: I'm happy to do that, unless you don't trust me.
Kyle: Of course we do.
Marco: Okay, well, I'll contact Gabe, ask him to submit a sample.
Billy: Great. All right. Well, let us know when you want to talk about Victor. And, Jack, for whatever it's worth, Gabriel Bingham is not your son. And this DNA test is going to prove that.
Kyle: [Sighs]
Lily: Thank you for the shower and the clothes. But especially for not judging me.
Avery: Well, I've been where you are. That can be a pretty lonely place.
Lily: Yeah. [Chuckles] I'm gonna take your advice, though. I'm gonna -- I'm gonna stay away from Joe. I just wish that he wasn't living at the club.
Avery: Don't let him get to you.
Lily: No, I-I won't. I'm gonna put this entire night behind me.
[Knock on door]
[Knock on door]
Joe: Chief Williams. How can I help you?
Paul: Mind if I come in?
Joe: Yeah, it's a little late.
Paul: This won't take long. I, um, I just want to ask you a few questions.
Joe: Shoot.
Paul: Where were you earlier this evening?
Joe: Why do you want to know?
Paul: [Sighs] Let me be more direct. Did you go to Avery's apartment?
Joe: No, I wasn't anywhere near Avery's apartment.
Paul: Mind if I ask where you were?
Joe: I was here at the club.
Paul: Anyone can verify that? Look, Joe, I don't have to remind you the consequences of violating a restraining order.
Joe: Someone say I did?
Paul: It's important you answer these questions. Now, did you interact with anyone who can vouch for your presence here at the club this evening?
Joe: Yeah. Lily.
Cane: [Sighs]
Lauren: What did lily say?
Cane: I don't know. Haven't seen her. Don't know where she is.
Lauren: Do you want me to wait with you?
Cane: No, I don't think it's a good idea if she sees us together. You know what I mean?
Lauren: Um...too late. Do you want me to explain?
Cane: No, it's okay. Thanks.
Lauren: All right.
Cane: You know, we were just chatting. If, uh, you don't believe me, you can check the surveillance footage. I'm sorry. That was -- that was rude of me. I apologize to you. I don't want to fight with you, sweetheart. I really just don't want to fight.
Lily: Cane --
Cane: No, no, please just let me finish. I love you. I love you so much, and you can keep pushing me away. I'm gonna keep coming back until I can convince you that you can trust me. 'Cause all I want is you. You are the only woman I'm ever going to want, and I just want to start over with you. That's all I want to do, sweetheart.
Lily: I would like to try.
Cane: Really? You want to do that? Yeah?
Lily: Starting over would be great.
Cane: Come here. I love you. I'm sorry. I love you.
Paul: Lily, in fact, told me that she saw you at the bar.
Joe: She did?
Paul: But she couldn't remember what time, so is there anyone else that can verify you were there at the time that Avery thought she heard someone in her apartment?
Joe: No, I didn't stick around at the bar.
Paul: You didn't?
Joe: No. I went for a walk. Alone.
Paul: [Chuckles] Could this walk that you took alone take you anywhere near Avery's place?
Joe: Sure. It could've. But it didn't. And no, I didn't see anyone when I was out.
Paul: So, I just have your word?
Joe: Yes. So unless you're gonna arrest me, chief, it's been a long day.
Paul: I'm not going to arrest you. But I am gonna keep an eye on you.
Joe: Well, thanks for the heads up.
Paul: Good night, Joe.
Phyllis: What do you think it means?
Kyle: Well, Billy disagrees, but I feel like if Gabe doesn't object to a DNA test, I think his claim could be true.
Billy: Yeah, we'll see.
Phyllis: I'm not so sure proving Gabe is Jack's son is gonna solve anything for us.
Billy: What does that mean?
Phyllis: I'm just saying I think there's a lot more going on here than we know.
Adam: I tell you what, I'm here so often, I should get my mail forwarded here, shouldn't I?
Marco: You'll be glad you came back. I handled our little, uh, DNA problem.
Adam: You did? Wow. That was quick. Okay.
Marco: Never doubt dear, old dad.
Adam: Yeah. If only you could handle your problems with Phyllis that easily, huh?
Marco: My wife has a mind of her own.
Adam: She does. She does, indeed. And -- and, uh, a lot of questions about the secrets you've been keeping from her, too.
Marco: Well, fortunately, I know how to handle Phyllis.
Adam: Yeah. Yeah, it probably helps that she loves you as much as she does, too, huh?
Marco: Well, yeah. I love her.
Adam: Just don't ask her to cook for you, right?
[Both laugh]
Adam: Right?
Marco: Well, I would much rather she heat things up in the bedroom than in the kitchen.
Adam: Yeah, yeah. Um, remember that time she, uh, she was trying to cook for -- for you, me, and Chelsea, dinner at your family cabin? She almost burned the whole place down. The drapes were on fire. [Laughing] You had the fire extinguisher?
Marco: Just when you think you don't need those fire extinguishers, you're face to face with Phyllis' cooking.
Adam: Face to face. Yeah. Gosh, that was quite an evening, wasn't it?
Marco: Unforgettable.
Adam: Uh-huh. Hey, w-what, uh, what was the name of that -- that dish she was trying to cook, anyway? What -- what did she call that? Do you remember?
Marco: Ah... I don't remember.
Adam: Of course you don't remember. Because it never happened. Who the hell are you?
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Avery: I'm sick of this war between us, Joe. I want it to stop before it goes too far.
Lily: Cane, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I can't do this. I'm sorry.
