Episode # 10652 ~ Jill finds Michael's behavior towards Lauren suspect; Avery warns Sharon away from Dylan.
Provided By Suzanne
Dylan: Michael, it sounds like that you're hanging your whole defense on getting this tire iron thrown out. What happens if you can't?
Michael: I will. Look, you and Avery didn't just compromise the chain of evidence. You obliterated it. There's no proof it's a murder weapon. It's just this thing you use to change a tire.
Dylan: With Sharon's fingerprints on it and Austin's blood.
Michael: Though, weirdly, no fingerprints in blood. How'd that happen? Blood here, fingerprints here. That's a coincidence. It's almost as if one of the 2,000 people who had access to it before you put it into evidence set it up to make it look like Sharon committed murder.
Dylan: Do you believe that's true?
Michael: I think I can possibly convince a jury that it might be true. That's all we need. The tire iron will be tossed, and without it, the state will have to fold its case. If Sharon didn't kill Austin, what was her motivation for murdering Courtney?
Dylan: Michael, I'm glad that you have confidence in your ability, but --
Michael: Look, I have a viable scenario for getting my client acquitted. What would you rather me do -- dream up worst-possible-case scenarios?
Dylan: Can you just humor me, okay? What if the tire iron remains in evidence? Then what? What?
Michael: Then I will find some way to create reasonable doubt. I'll come up with another suspect and point the finger at them.
Dylan: Okay. Like who?
Michael: Like I don't know at the moment!
Dylan: I'm not a lawyer. I know that. But it seems to me like we should be trying to prove that Sharon's being framed before this ever gets to trial.
Michael: Yeah, you know, ideally, yes -- you're right. Ideally, we should be able to snap our fingers, find the real murderer, get all the charges tossed. But you know what? The clock is ticking, and all of the state's evidence points straight at Sharon.
Sharon: What are you saying, Michael -- that I'm a lost cause?
Avery: Well, please let them know I'm not taking on any new clients at this time. Thank you.
Joe: You know, you shouldn't have done that.
Avery: Why? I have all the cases I can handle right now.
Joe: Yeah, if you weren't here spending all this time with me.
Avery: Joe, I am exactly where I want to be.
Joe: Listen, I just don't want you to sacrifice your work for me, Avery.
Avery: It's not a sacrifice. I have plenty of work. I don't need any more. Now, before my assistant called, you were about to give me an update.
Joe: Yeah. Well, if you're wondering if I can wiggle my toes yet, no such luck. But I did tell the doctor I'm not gonna fight his decision of moving me to Chicago to that fancy nursing home he wants to put me in.
Avery: It's not a nursing home. It is a state-of-the-art clinic that specializes in spinal injuries. I checked it out. It's an excellent facility.
Joe: Yeah, great. I'll be popping wheelies in that chair in no time, but that's probably as far as I'm gonna go.
Avery: You don't know that. You have to keep an open mind. You could have a real breakthrough there.
Joe: You know, I'm not expecting any miracles. [Sighs] Look, I only brought it up 'cause I'm hoping you can help me with something while I'm gone.
Avery: Of course. Anything.
Joe: I need you to pack up my apartment.
Avery: Why? Aren't you planning on coming back to Genoa city?
Lily: I miss seeing you during the day.
Cane: Me, too. So, Lauren has this, uh, big shipment of specialty items coming for the boutique for this display, and I thought that I would come here and surprise you first -- spend some time with my beautiful wife.
Lily: Aww, so sweet.
Cane: Yeah, 'cause we don't get any time together since I took that job.
Lily: How 'bout this? Why don't we -- when you're done, we'll cut out early and have some dinner and then we can get home before the sitter has to leave.
Cane: I would love that. It has been forever since we've had some time together.
Lily: Yes, it has. [Chuckles]
Jill: So...Lauren is working you to the bone, is she? Well, honey, you know what people say -- careful what you wish for.
Hilary: Can't avoid me forever.
Devon: Watch me.
Hilary: Devon... I told you that I still love you. You really have nothing to say to that?
Devon: What do you expect me to say to it?
Hilary: Okay. Then... just answer me one question. Do you still love me?
Devon: What does it matter how I feel?
Hilary: It matters to me. It's everything to me. Devon... you're the best thing that's ever happened to me, okay? And I never stopped loving you, and I just -- I can't lose you forever.
Devon: I would have given anything to hear you say that after the plane crash. But instead, you told me that you didn't love me, and you told me that you used me and that the only thing you cared about was money and revenge. You have any idea how that made me feel? And here you are, switching your story up again.
Hilary: I'm telling the truth.
Devon: Even if you are telling the truth, what am I supposed to say -- "everything's forgiven"? "Let's get back together"? That's what you -- I mean, I'm not a light switch.
Hilary: Right. I know I screwed it all up. But that was part of the plan. I was -- I was trying to... fix things between you and Neil.
Devon: And you couldn't figure out a way to do that and be honest with me? You couldn't figure out another way to save my dad without sleeping with the man who was prosecuting him? And I'm supposed to ignore that, like it never happened?
Cane: You know how it is when you start a new job. Things will settle down soon enough.
Colin: You better hope it doesn't. Otherwise, it'll mean you're tanking.
Jill: You're in the retail business now. The hours are brutal, and that's on a good day.
Lily: Well, at least he's not coming home frustrated every night, the way he was before.
Colin: Then I'm glad I suggested the change. Obviously, it's gonna be good for you.
Cane: Well, I'm sure your wife enjoys sitting on the throne at chancellor all by herself.
Jill: [Chuckles] All kidding aside, though, is this the right move? Helping Lauren in our family business -- is that enough for you?
Cane: You know, so far, I find it rewarding. Lauren is trusting of me. She is receptive to my ideas. It's actually like having a real partnership.
Jill: [Chuckles]
Cane: I couldn't be happier.
Sharon: I need to know. Was I right when I said that I might as well be guilty? Is it already over for me?
Michael: Sharon, I never said that.
Sharon: But from what I just heard, I don't have a prayer.
Michael: Haven't we had this conversation before, many times? You're always jumping to the worst possible outcome, and it isn't helpful.
Sharon: But if you don't think I can win --
Michael: Look, I always play to win, Sharon.
[Cell phone rings]
Michael: [Sighs] Look, Dylan and I were running through some scenarios. You happened to come in during the worst case. That's it. That's what happened. Now, look... why don't we just take a deep breath and try not to get so worked up?
Sharon: When a lawyer as good as you starts talking about running out of time, how do you expect me to feel? Do you expect for me to remain calm when I could be going to prison for the rest of my life?!
[Knock on door]
Dylan: Michael and I were just kicking around some options and figuring out how to frame your defense, and I was pressing him pretty hard. He's very confident that he can handle this, but, of course, there's gonna be obstacles, so there's no, really, any reason for you to be losing hope.
Sharon: Well, that's easy for you to say. You're not the one who's going to be locked up for the rest of your life for double murder.
Lauren: I did knock. I-I just came by to see how things are going over here.
Sharon: Well, now you have your answer.
Michael: I think we can all use a break.
Dylan: A break would be good.
Michael: Yeah. Have you been to lunch? Why don't I take you to lunch?
Lauren: No, I haven't. That would be so great.
Michael: We will talk more later, all right?
Dylan: [Sighs]
Sharon: I really can't take any more of your false hope. Go on! Get out!
Joe: Yeah, I haven't decided if I'm coming back. Who knows what the future holds?
Avery: I understand that, but, j--
Joe: Look, no one's told me how long I'm gonna be there, all right? And I don't expect this to be a short trip, so it's just better we put my stuff in storage, I get out of my lease, and be done with it. It's one less thing to worry about.
Avery: Well, I think it's better if you wait. You'll be more motivated if you have a home to come back to.
Joe: Yeah, well, I wouldn't call it a home. It was more like a place to crash. Look, I'm sorry to burden you with this. I just don't have anyone else to ask.
Avery: You're not burdening me. I am happy to help.
Joe: Thank you. I appreciate that.
Avery: And there's something else that I'd like to do for you.
Joe: No, no. You've already done --
Avery: I heard you out. Now it's my turn. Starting tomorrow, you're gonna be in a new place with new doctors, and that's bound to be overwhelming. And I thought, if you'd like, I could come with you.
Hilary: I'm not asking you to ignore the things I did, but if you could try to understand -- I blame myself for Neil unraveling and for the damage it caused to your relationship. After Neil found out that I betrayed him, I've brought nothing but pain to all of your lives.
Devon: You didn't betray my father on your own.
Hilary: Yeah, but I know that you did everything you could to make amends. So, when I saw an opportunity to do the same, I took it, okay? And, look, it paid off. And if seducing Winston was the only way to keep Neil safe from prison, well, so be it. I have no regrets.
Devon: How do you expect us to get past this?
Hilary: Now that Neil's safe... and everything's out in the open, can't you at least try? Isn't there some small chance... that we could find our way back to each other?
Lauren: I'm sorry I walked in to Sharon's when I did, but, Michael --
Michael: There's no reason to apologize.
Lauren: It must be very taxing, living in such a tense environment.
Michael: It was a bad moment. That's all. Dylan will get Sharon to calm down. There's no reason for you to worry.
Colin: Hey, mike, hear you're holed up at the ranch.
Jill: He has a needy client. How'd you manage to escape?
Michael: Lauren busted me out. It was perfect timing, too. I needed a lunch break.
Lauren: Speaking of lunch, you know that reporter we were supposed to meet tomorrow? She is gonna take the red eye back to new York tonight, so we need to meet her for dinner. Is that okay?
Cane: Tonight?
Lauren: Yeah. Does that work for you?
Cane: Actually --
Lily: It's fine. We'll go another time.
Cane: No, no, no.
Lily: It's fine.
Cane: No. I don't want to cancel on you, baby. I don't want to cancel. No.
Lauren: It's fine. I'll take the meeting by myself. Don't worry about it.
Michael: No. Didn't you tell me that getting that interview was a big deal? It's a national magazine.
Lily: Oh. You didn't tell me that.
Michael: Don't want to stick my nose in, but I think it would be good for you to be a part of it -- talk up your new role at Fenmore's.
Lily: You know what? Michael's right. The publicity will be good for you, so... yeah.
Cane: You sure?
Lily: I am sure.
Cane: Okay. All right. We're on. I'll be there.
Lauren: Terrific. Thank you so much, lily.
Lily: You're welcome.
Joe: Incredibly generous of you, but I can't ask you to uproot your life.
Avery: You didn't ask. I'm offering. I think it would be good for you to have someone there during this transition -- someone to advocate for you and run errands, especially if you think you're gonna be there a while. And considering I'm the reason you're in this predicament --
Joe: That's not true, okay? I... I don't want to hear you say that again.
Avery: The point is you shouldn't have to do this alone. And I am going on a short trip out of town. It's hardly uprooting my life. Besides which, I talked to your doctor the other day.
Joe: About me?
Avery: Yes, about you and about how one person... offering support can really make a difference at a time like this. Do you agree with Barton? Do you think it would make a difference if I were to go with you for the first week or two at the clinic?
Joe: Yeah. It'd be really nice to have you there.
Avery: Then it's settled.
Joe: No. It's not. You -- I haven't agreed. You haven't even spoken to Dylan yet, have you? Come on. How is your fiancé gonna feel about this?
Sharon: I told you to leave.
Dylan: You shouldn't be alone when you're like this.
Sharon: Like what -- a realist? I can see my future spreading out in front of me, and it's not pretty.
Dylan: Sharon, will you just please listen --
Sharon: I don't have an alibi for either of these murders. You found a tire iron with my fingerprints on it very close to where the police found Austin's body, and then you searched the trunk of my car. Oh, lo and behold, there's Courtney's necklace. Paul thinks I had motive to kill both of them, and the press -- you know what? If they had their way, I'm sure the state of Wisconsin would reinstate the death penalty just for me! There is no way I am going to get out of this, and if you believe otherwise, then you are the fool!
Dylan: You know what? You're right! You're right! The evidence against you is overwhelming, but I've been working my butt off to prove that you're innocent and to keep you from giving up! But now I realize -- I realize why you're panicked, why you believe Michael can't win -- not because you're being framed but because you're guilty! You're the killer!
Sharon: Excuse me? What did you just say? You told me that you believed me. Now, all of a sudden, I'm a murderer?
Dylan: Aren't you?
Sharon: No. And why would you accuse me of this? You know me. You know I would never do anything like this. Yeah, I've done some crazy things in my life before, but I would never take someone's life. And, by the way, there's no way that a lawyer as great as Michael Baldwin is gonna let me get convicted of this. He's gonna tear that D.A.'S case to shreds. He even told me that the evidence they have against me is so weak, I should have never been arrested in the first place.
Dylan: [Chuckles softly]
Sharon: Why are you smiling?
Dylan: Because that's the Sharon who's gonna beat these charges -- the feisty Sharon, the one sure of herself, not the one having another meltdown, wallowing in negativity.
Sharon: [Sighs]
Dylan: Look, I'm sorry if I threw you there for a second, but I'm happy you reacted this way.
Sharon: Well, that makes one of us. God! My heart sank when you said those things. I thought I'd just lost my last friend.
Dylan: You cannot let these doubts overwhelm you and act like your fate is already sealed. Come on. You got to stay mad at whoever's trying to frame you. Man, if the press could see the way you were just now, they'd be convinced you're innocent, too. I mean, that's what we need to do. We need to get more people on our side, including the jury, but you have to keep fighting. You have to do your part. That's the way we can win this.
Devon: Hilary, you put on an act so that my father and I would think we'd been had, and it worked like a charm, because we truly believe that you were out to just destroy our family. And now there's hope for me and Neil. But we will never reconcile our relationship if I get involved with you again. You understand that?
Hilary: Yeah, I understand. Um... I was just hoping that -- never mind. Um... you know what? I said what I needed to say, so I should, um... I should just go.
Devon: Yeah, I think you should.
Lauren: Are you gonna continue to do that?
Michael: Looking at the specials?
Lauren: Second-guess me at work.
Michael: How did I second-guess you?
Lauren: By pressuring Cane to join me for that interview tonight.
Michael: Cane is your new second-in-command. It's good P.R.
Lauren: Yes, but you made him cancel his plans with his wife, and I actually think it's lovely that he wants to spend time with her.
Michael: [Chuckles] I get it -- unlike me.
Lauren: Ever since you moved in to Sharon's house, you have, um -- you've called me a few times when you knew I wouldn't be able to answer. You've texted me. That's not exactly what I would call "making an effort," Michael.
Michael: I made a major commitment when I promised to stay with Sharon and act as her guardian.
Lauren: And I'm still trying to figure out why.
Michael: It was the only way to keep her out of jail.
Lauren: And a great way to hide.
Michael: From what?
Lauren: From me and from your oncologist. You have been avoiding both of us. Dr. Jain called and left a message at the house. Would you like to tell me why you missed your last appointment?
Michael: I'll reschedule.
Lauren: I hope that you do. You look like hell, Michael.
Michael: It's just bad lighting.
Lauren: You've been burning the candle at both ends. You are not taking care of yourself. I hope you are continuing with your hormone therapy.
Michael: Yes.
Lauren: You're not lying to me, are you?
Michael: I wouldn't lie about that.
Lauren: Well, then, why does it feel like you are holding something back?
Michael: [Chuckles] There you go again, insisting that there's some ulterior motive to my being out of touch. I have a big case! A woman's life hangs in the balance. I'm not avoiding you. I'm working. And I refuse to let this disease keep me from doing my job, and you will not treat me like a child. And I will not have you grilling me about every decision I make!
Lauren: Well, excuse me. Excuse me for caring.
Cane: Hey, uh, you guys okay?
Lauren: We're fine.
Cane: Well, I thought you'd want to know that the delivery has arrived, so when you've finished your lunch, Lauren, just shoot me a text. We'll go through the boxes together.
Lauren: No. No, no, no. Please. Let's do it now. We all know that work comes first.
Avery: I hope I'm not interrupting anything.
Dylan: Uh, what's up?
Avery: Joe's being transferred tomorrow to a rehab facility in Chicago. He's gonna be there for a while, and, uh, I would like to accompany him just to get him settled.
Dylan: Whose idea was that -- yours or Joe's?
Avery: Mine, and I knew that you might have an issue with it.
Dylan: How am I supposed to respond to this?
Avery: For now, just listen, okay?
Dylan: Okay.
Avery: Dylan, if you could see Joe right now... this accident has changed him. His spirit is completely broken, and he shouldn't have to face what he's about to by himself. If I go, it's just for a-a week, just to get him settled.
Dylan: Yeah. I get it. Just -- yeah. You need to help the guy.
Avery: [Sighs] Dylan, thank you so much for understanding.
Dylan: Just let me know how it goes. Take care.
Avery: I will. It's just gonna be a few days. Dylan... I love you.
Dylan: I love you, too.
Joe: Well, I'm assuming he said no?
Avery: Well, you assume wrong. Dylan is okay with my going.
Sharon: I can tell you're not really okay with this.
Dylan: It's gonna happen whether I like it or not. And Avery's accepted that I want to be here for you, so...
Sharon: So you gave her the answer she was hoping to hear instead of telling her the truth.
Dylan: Why do you say it like that?
Sharon: You just unloaded on me for not being true to myself. Maybe you need to take some of your own advice. Go to Avery. Tell her how you really feel.
Jill: What's going on with you and Lauren?
Michael: Nothing.
Jill: Ha! You have a fight in the middle of a public restaurant and nothing's going on, hmm?
Michael: Allow me to clarify. Nothing that's your business.
Jill: Oh, allow me to clarify. You and Lauren are my family, which makes it my business. You are pushing her away. Why are you doing that?
Michael: I understand how it might appear that way, but I have a client who is facing an uphill battle, and I need to focus on her defense.
Jill: Oh. By moving in with her?
Michael: It was a condition of Sharon's bail.
Jill: Look, I realize that she is a flight risk, okay? But why are you the appointed babysitter?
Michael: Because, "a," I believe Sharon to be innocent, and, "b," I need her to stay calm. Is that so hard to believe?
Jill: Well, normally, it wouldn't be, but normally you wouldn't be struggling with what you're struggling with.
Michael: You know what? My treatment has been very successful so far, so thank you very much.
Jill: No, I know. That's wonderful. Why aren't you celebrating with your wife, Michael?
Michael: Excuse me.
Jill: No, no, no. That woman has stuck with you through thick and thin, okay? And now, if you're feeling so much better, why aren't you whisking her away on a romantic vacation, huh? Why are you burying yourself in your work and insisting that she do the same thing? Now let's just cut through the bull. What is going on in that head of yours?
Colin: I couldn't help noticing earlier your reaction when Cane started going on about Lauren.
Lily: My reaction?
Colin: Yeah -- how you so graciously put aside your plans so that he could dine with her.
Lily: And a reporter. It's for business.
Colin: Yeah, well, I think you're a little more upset than you're letting on.
Lily: I'm not gonna deny that I wish we could spend more time together, but he's excited about his new job, so I'm happy for him.
Colin: Spoken like the devoted wife that I know you are. However, things got a little rocky there for a while -- him withholding the truth about Devon and Hilary. That shook things up. I'm still not sure that you're back on solid ground.
Lily: We're getting there.
Colin: But while you're getting there, you don't want other people getting in the way. It's easy for a husband to be distracted when things are a little messy at home.
Lily: If you're implying that Cane could be looking at Lauren as any more than a friend and business associate --
Colin: Lily, I'm not implying anything about my son. Lauren -- that's another matter.
Cane: I knew you had great taste, but these items you ordered are beautiful.
Lauren: Oh, thank you. I'm really happy with them, too [Scoffs] With the exception of this. I wasn't expecting this at all, you know? I asked the buyer for south seas elegance, and he sends me this? [Voice breaking] I don't know how he could be so disappointing to me. [Sighs] This is not the way it's supposed to be. I'm sorry. [Inhales deeply] [Exhales sharply]
Avery: I thought that Dylan would be here.
Sharon: No. I'm home by myself.
Avery: Oh. That surprises me. I would assume between Dylan and Michael, you would never be left to your own devices.
Sharon: I'm under house arrest. I know the rules. I don't need to be put under constant surveillance, but because you think that I'm guilty and I committed those murders, you think I need to be under heavy guard.
Avery: It doesn't matter what I think, Sharon. You'll have your day in court, and the truth will come out.
Sharon: I have been accused of murder before, and you handled my appeal, and you believed in me.
Avery: I was proud to be your defense counsel. But I've gotten to know you a lot better since then.
Joe: Yeah, Avery... just stepped out. I imagine you're looking for her, but I'm glad you stopped by. We haven't had an honest conversation since I wound up here.
Dylan: That's a good point. So, why don't we get a few things straight?
Devon: What are you doing things, and I won't let it end like that.
[Knock on door]
Devon: What are you doing here?
Hilary: I've been thinking about the way that we left things, and I won't let it end like that.
Michael: I'm still coming to terms with what I'm going through, and sometimes I need some space. Lauren is too focused on my illness to see that. I'm sure she means well.
Jill: [Laughing] "I'm sure she means well"? That's real generous of you.
Michael: You know what I mean.
Jill: I do. I know what you mean. I'm sure that her concern and her questions can be stifling sometimes.
Michael: Give the lady a cigar.
Jill: But here's the trouble. To your wife, it must seem like the two of you are drifting apart.
Michael: You know, I get upset. Lauren and I have words, and I wind up feeling like I'm bringing her down, which is why I'm encouraging her to focus on Fenmore's, which I know she loves.
Jill: Yeah, she does.
Michael: And she's found a great new friend in Cane.
Jill: Yes, and Cane has been through a similar experience, yeah.
Michael: Well, thank you for understanding.
Jill: Here's what I don't understand. If you can explain all of this to me so beautifully, so calmly and rationally, why can't you explain it to Lauren instead of avoiding her and biting her head off, Michael?
Michael: You're right. I owe her an apology. Now, if you'll excuse me...
Jill: Yes, I will excuse you. Aww.
Lily: Cane and Lauren? Really? Don't be ridiculous.
Colin: Do I need to remind you that this is not the first time Lauren has cheated on Michael?
Lily: Their marriage was under a huge strain back then.
Colin: Unlike now.
Lily: This is a completely different situation.
Colin: Look, sweetheart, pain is pain. If she's upset with Michael, she might start looking for another shoulder to cry on, and Lauren is nothing if not an alluring woman. You might keep a close eye on your husband.
Lauren: Forgive me. Sorry.
Cane: There's nothing to forgive.
Lauren: [Sighs] I don't want to get into a big discussion about it, but, um, obviously, Michael and I are not exactly in the best place right now.
Cane: Oh, really? Is that what it is? I thought you didn't like the merchandise.
Lauren: [Chuckles] [Laughing] You know what? Maybe we should box this up before I strangle somebody with it.
Cane: Whoa. As long as you don't strangle me, it's okay.
Lauren: No. I could never do that. Are you kidding? [Laughs] But, honestly, what is this?
Cane: Let's put this back in the box. Come here.
Lauren: Oh, please. I don't even want to wrap it.
Cane: Do you have any tape?
Lauren: Just throw it out. Forget it.
Joe: Avery said you didn't have a problem with her taking me to Chicago, but I know how I'd feel if I were you, so I imagine you're here to put me on notice.
Dylan: I don't trust you, and I never will.
Joe: Well, I can't blame you. Yeah, I've been a real ass. I did everything I could to stay close to Avery, to win her back. Playing games, manipulating to goad you into losing your temper so that you look like the fool. Everything that you accuse me of, I did. I even put the moves on her on that balcony in one last chance to win her back. Now look where it got me.
Dylan: Why are you telling me all this now?
Joe: You know, no need to pretend anymore. After that fall, everything changed, and I know now that... Avery will never be mine.
Dylan: [Sighs]
Sharon: You know me better? What does that mean?
Avery: Really, Sharon, I don't want to get into this right now.
Sharon: No, no. You can't bring up something like that and not expect me to be curious. So, you're saying if you knew me then like you do now, you would have never represented me?
Avery: I'm saying it would have been difficult to generate excitement about defending you.
Sharon: So, then, you would have just let me hang for Skye's murder. You know, looking back, that would have been an acceptable outcome for you, because I would be locked up and out of the way.
Avery: You would have found a different attorney.
Sharon: Well, that's not the point. You're supposed to be the celebrated champion of the wrongly accused, and yet you find me so repugnant, you wouldn't care if I were found guilty? I think that makes you a hypocrite.
Avery: Well, maybe it does, Sharon. You know what? What you think about me means nothing to me. Unfortunately, two men that I care about very much are determined to keep you out of jail, so, yes, I hope you are found not guilty for their sake!
Sharon: So, you don't think that I really did it, because you wouldn't be standing here alone with someone you thought had committed a double homicide.
Avery: You're right. I don't think you did it. But I also didn't think that you were capable of burning down the Newman ranch, and I didn't think you were capable of falsifying summer's paternity. You know what? If you hear from Dylan, just tell him that I want to --
Sharon: Wait a minute. You're so smug. You think you know everything. You're wrong about me, and you don't have a clue about your fiancé.
Avery: Okay, I don't care what you have to say about my fiancé.
Sharon: You're all about the truth coming out, right? You know why Dylan went to look for you? Because he wanted to tell you the truth. He really isn't okay with you going on this trip with your ex, Joe. You heard what you wanted to hear. It was obvious by his tone that he was upset.
Avery: You make it sound like I'm running off on some romantic tryst with Joe. Do you understand I'm going to a rehab center that specializes in spinal injuries?
Sharon: Joe's a big boy. He'll be surrounded there by people who can take good care of him. He doesn't need you there holding his hand, unless it's really not about Joe. Maybe --
Avery: Sharon, I am warning you, do not say what you're about to say.
Sharon: Maybe you have been lying to everyone all along and it's really your ex, Joe, who you want, not Dylan.
Avery: [Scoffs]
Colin: My son and Lauren are getting a little too cozy. I said as much to lily.
Jill: Oh, honey, I wish you hadn't done that.
Colin: What, tell her the truth?
Jill: No. It -- Cane is so happy to have lily back, I doubt he'd look at another woman.
Colin: Maybe he wouldn't.
Jill: But Lauren would? Michael did make it sound like he thought that she'd be happier in Cane's company than his own.
Colin: You don't think that he's pushing her into Cane's arms?
Jill: Of course not. That'd be crazy.
Lily: Hey. Sorry to barge in. Since you didn't mind, I decided to take my husband to dinner after all, so...
Cane: Is that okay, boss?
Lauren: Of course it is. You have fun. And I'll make sure that that reporter knows how valuable you are to me already.
Cane: You are the best, and you know that, right?
Lauren: I do. I do. Go have fun.
Cane: Okay. All right. Well --
Lauren: You want to hand me the box first?
Cane: Yeah.
Devon: I thought I made it clear to you that we can't go back to the way things were.
Hilary: Okay, I know we can't go back. But maybe we can be friends.
Devon: How do you think that's possible?
Hilary: I want you to try, Devon. Okay? [Voice breaking] You are the love of my life. I want you near me, however I can have you.
Dylan: You understand that I'm having a hard time believing that's what you really want, right?
Joe: You know, it may not be what I want, but it's what I have to accept. All right? Avery's only coming with me out of guilt and pity. I see it in her eyes. Dylan, you're the one that she wants. And as much as you've hated me, you've never lost faith in Avery, knowing that she's gonna come back to you, because what you two have is real. Look, I don't want this trip to cause any trouble. If you want me to tell Avery to stay here, just say the word.
Dylan: She makes her own decisions. [Sighs]
Avery: You'd love it if I wanted Joe, wouldn't you? You're thrilled to have Dylan constantly running over here, being your white knight.
Sharon: Well, why would you care? You're practically living by Joe's bedside.
Avery: You're the one who can't go two minutes without a man to lean on. You drove nick away. Now you're latching on to his brother, which I guess is no surprise there, given your obsession with the men in this family. You've gone through them all -- Adam, even Victor!
Sharon: You bitch!
Avery: Go ahead. Violate your parole. Assault me.
Michael: Avery! Sharon!
Avery: Give Dylan a break!
Michael: Ladies, pl--
Avery: Michael?
Both: Oh, my god.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Victor: You do as I tell you, and you better behave when we go to dinner. You got that?
Neil: Oh, you did a damn good job pretending like you were dating my son while he was cheating with my wife.
Sharon: If I'm to blame for what our children are going through right now, then so the hell are you!
