Episode # 10641 ~ Devon reaches out to Hilary; Nikki is suspicious of Victor's motives; Neil gets some tough love.
Provided By Suzanne
Summer: Morning.
Phyllis: There's my pretty girl.
Summer: Uh, how was the couch?
Phyllis: Oh, just fine. Just fine. Did you get any sleep?
Summer: No. Not really. My mind just kept racing.
Phyllis: I don't doubt it. Can I make you some breakfast?
Summer: I'm okay. Thank you, though.
Phyllis: Okay. What else can I do for you?
Summer: You can get married like you're supposed to.
Phyllis: Honey, that can wait.
Summer: I don't want it to wait, mom.
Phyllis: I know how strong you are. You just lost your husband and your best friend, and I would not feel right leaving town knowing how devastated you are. Jack understands.
Summer: Mom, no one is that understanding, especially when you guys have waited so long to be together. I don't want anything getting in the way of your happiness, especially not me. Okay? So what I need is for you to say your vows with Jack and to live a happy life together, starting today.
Phyllis: Are you sure?
Summer: Yeah. I promise. You're not even gonna be gone that long.
[Knock on door]
Summer: In the meantime, I have plenty of people that I can count on, okay? Like this guy.
Kyle: Okay, so what's so important that it couldn't wait, dad? I want to get over to Summer's.
Jack: I realize you have been focused on helping her these days, and I'm glad about that. Poor kid's been through hell, and you've been a great friend to her. But you have a few decisions of your own you need to make.
Kyle: Do I?
Jack: You do. Sit down. You've been back in town for a while now. Are you planning on transferring to the headquarters here, or are you going back to New York?
Kyle: "C," actually. None of the above.
Jack: That's not one of the options.
Kyle: It is for now, dad.
Jack: You need to think about the future.
Kyle: Look, I'm sorry that I don't have a five-year plan in place at the moment.
Jack: I suggest you create one. You have real aptitude when it comes to business. You could do great things at Jabot.
Kyle: Look, dad, just because I'm good at something doesn't mean I'm passionate about it, all right? I have to figure things out on my own. It's my life, my decisions. And what's the big rush?
Jack: Because our family, our company, is being threatened.
Leslie: Since I prefer not to put Neil on the stand, your testimony's critical to his defense.
[Cell phone rings]
Leslie: That's probably another reporter wanting a statement about Courtney's death, how it's affecting your family. If you'd like to take that...
Victor: Just proceed, okay?
Leslie: Let's talk about Neil's state of mind the night of the accident. How did he react once he realized you were heading to an AA meeting?
Nikki: He was furious. He was very drunk. He obviously didn't want to go. But I sprang it on him anyway. I knew better. I don't know why I did that. I knew he would be upset.
Leslie: That's right. You're a recovering alcoholic, as well, so you can -- you can relate to how he was feeling.
Nikki: Let's just say if somebody had done that to me, I would have gone ballistic.
Leslie: Okay, so when Neil lashed out on you in the car while you were driving, how did you react?
Victor: Okay, sweetheart, that's it. Not another word, okay?
Chelsea: Thanks again for helping me move back in. Billy had to go out of town last night for some Jabot business, and I was not looking forward to doing this by myself with a toddler.
Anita: Well, not a problem, sweetie. You know, the place looks great. You can't even smell the smoke. But are you sure it's really ready?
Chelsea: Oh, well, if you're referring to the ladder and the furniture covers, they're props. Turns out we could have moved in a lot sooner if it weren't for Gabe.
Anita: Gabe, your neighbor that helped save Billy and my precious Connor when the building was on fire?
Chelsea: That's the one.
Anita: Well, I thought you got along great with him and his wife. Why would he delay you coming home?
Chelsea: Well, let's see. It was all just a part of his... never mind.
Anita: All just a part of his what? Chelsea!
Chelsea: Mom, I-I shouldn't have -- I shouldn't have said anything.
Anita: [Chuckles] Oh, my goodness. It must have been terrible, I mean, awful, if you won't even tell me what it is.
Chelsea: Mom, he didn't do anything awful. He -- [Sighs] Gabriel told me he has feelings for me.
Anita: Feelings? You know, I think this man got under your skin.
Adam: Been avoiding me?
Sage: So what if I have?
Adam: Yeah, I'd be afraid, too, if I were you.
Sage: Oh, is that a threat?
Adam: That's probably why you didn't come home last night, right, after you royally screwed things over with me and Chelsea! What were you thinking, telling her every single thing?
Sage: I didn't tell her every little, single thing.
Adam: You told her enough to ruin all of my plans, Sage!
Sage: She must have really laid into you. Good. You deserved it.
Mr. Tipton: When are the two of you going to admit that this marriage is a sham?
Adam: Mr. Tipton. You're early.
Mr. Tipton: On the contrary. It looks like I arrived just in time, although this conflict between the two of you is certainly nothing new.
Adam: Oh, this? No, this is just your garden-variety husband-wife little disagreement. The good news is, we're moving back into our condo today.
Mr. Tipton: Is that true?
Sage: No.
Adam: Yes.
Sage: No! I've gotten my own place, and I'm filing for divorce.
Adam: She gets emotional. Honey, I know -- I know you're upset, but let's not get hasty, okay? Let's not make any rash dec-- can you excuse us for a moment? I need to talk to you. Come here, please. What the hell are you doing?
Sage: I am not lying anymore. The way that you play with Chelsea's emotions, the way you treat me, I am done with this twisted arrangement. I've met someone that I fell for that wants me. I am leaving, so deal with it!
Adam: Listen to me. I can be better, okay? I'll be nicer to you, I'll do whatever you want. What do you want? Just please don't do this.
Sage: This man does not deserve his grandmother's inheritance. Our marriage is a sham, and I want out.
Mr. Tipton: An honest answer at last. I'll go draw up the papers to terminate your inheritance.
Adam: Come here.
Sage: [Gasps]
Adam: You think you're just gonna walk out of here after what you just did?
Summer: So, was Noah up when you left?
Nick: No, he had a pretty rough night. He's really torn up. And the press isn't helping. They're hounding him and everyone else in our family.
Summer: Yeah, I know exactly how he feels. I'm afraid to turn my phone back on.
Nick: I can't imagine what it's like for you.
Summer: I helped Courtney get ready for her wedding. You should have seen her, dad. She looked so beautiful. And she was so excited about her future and... now that's the last talk I'm ever gonna have with her.
Nick: [Sighs] I wish I could make all the pain go away.
Summer: Just your being here really helps. Same goes for mom spending the night. Kyle's been really helpful, too.
Nick: Kyle?
Summer: Yeah, he's been great. I mean, after Austin died, if it weren't for Kyle, I don't know if I would have made it.
Kyle: Look, whatever this threat is, okay, we'll discuss it later. I have to go to Summer's. She's my priority.
Phyllis: I just came from there.
Kyle: How is she?
Phyllis: Hanging in somehow.
Jack: If there's anything we can do for her, we want to do it.
Phyllis: She actually did have one request.
Jack: Oh?
Phyllis: That we move forward with our wedding plans. It was very important to her that we not cancel.
Jack: Her heart is breaking and she's thinking about you.
Phyllis: And you.
Jack: So we're back on, huh?
Phyllis: We are. [Chuckles]
Kyle: Hey, that's great, you guys. Best wishes to you both. I'm sure you have a lot to discuss.
Jack: Hold -- hold -- hold -- hold on. We're not finished here.
Kyle: [Sighs]
Jack: This threat I was talking about is Victor. He is gunning for Jabot, and he's not gonna give up until he gets what he wants.
Kyle: Hostile takeover?
Phyllis: Is there any other kind when it comes to Victor?
Jack: It's time to rally around the Jabot flag, make sure this doesn't happen by any means necessary.
Kyle: [Scoffs] This is amazing. Another chapter in the never-ending war between the Abbotts and the Newmans. Look, I'm sorry to hear it, dad. I really am. But you can't use this as an excuse to heap all your expectations on me.
Jack: You are a grown man, Kyle.
Kyle: And an obvious disappointment. I guess I'm just not the son you thought that I would be.
Jack: Wait, wait, wait.
Phyllis: Hey, that's not what your father's saying, Kyle.
Jack: I fully expect you to be your own man. You're also a member of this family.
Kyle: Meaning what?
Jack: Meaning every once in a while, you have to step up. Like tonight, for instance. You could help me.
Kyle: With what?
Jack: There is a charity benefit tonight at the athletic club, and I would like you to be there to help represent our family. It's important.
Kyle: [Sighs] Fine. I'll be there. I wouldn't want to embarrass the family of the great Jack Abbott, now would I?
[Door opens]
[Door closes]
Devon: Hey. I need to give you a heads up about your case.
Neil: Really? I don't need you to do that.
Devon: Dad, wait. Just know that I am going to meet with the prosecutor and explain to him why he needs to cut you a break.
Neil: No! Absolutely not. I don't need your interference in this.
Devon: I'm not interfering with anything. I'm just making sure the guy knows the whole truth.
Neil: You got a lot of nerve standing here talking to me about truth. I'll give you some truth. You're naive, you're immature, you're disrespectful. Do you understand that Christine's team is gunning for me and nothing that you say is going to change their minds?
Devon: Well, you know what? I can try.
Hilary: You wanted to see me?
Devon: I wish I never had to again. But I want you to come with me to meet the assistant D.A.
Hilary: Why?
Devon: 'Cause I need to explain to this Mobley guy that Neil started drinking again because of us. And the way I see it, you and I are partly responsible for that car hitting Christine.
Hilary: Okay, okay, if you feel that guilty, be my guest. Go. Waste the guy's time. Make a fool of yourself. Just don't expect me to back you up.
Devon: You know, Hilary, I know you don't give a damn about me or Neil, but I know you do give a damn about your divorce settlement. And if Neil gets found guilty, he'll have to pay out a huge amount in a civil suit, which won't leave a lot for you to live off of until you find your next mark.
Hilary: Nice try, Devon. But I think I'll pass. Besides, I'll still get what I want. Neil's hot-shot attorney will get him off the hook, and then we will split up happily ever after.
Nikki: Darling, I'm trying to help Neil. I wish you wouldn't meddle.
Victor: Let me ask you something. Where are you going with this line of questioning?
Leslie: We're not in court, Victor.
Victor: No, we certainly are not. And you're not Nikki's attorney, are you? I have a feeling you're conjuring up some kind of scenario whereby Nikki would look very bad.
Leslie: What scenario would that be?
Victor: You know exactly what I'm talking about. She wasn't driving too well, made Neil feel insecure, so he grabbed the wheel. Would make him look very good in the eyes of the jury and make my wife look bad. Isn't that right?
Leslie: Would be an interesting way to go.
Victor: Yes. Thank you for stopping by. Thank you.
Nikki: I'm so sorry.
Leslie: It's okay, Nikki. Thank you. Thank you for your time.
Victor: I don't want you to talk to her anymore, okay?
Nikki: And I don't want you to tell me what I can and cannot do anymore!
Victor: That woman is not your friend!
Nick: Well, I'm really glad you have Kyle in your life.
Summer: Yeah. You would not have said that a year ago.
Nick: Well, a lot's changed since then.
Summer: Mm-hmm.
Nick: I really wish I could go back and spare you all that anguish.
Summer: We can only look forward, dad, not back.
Nick: [Chuckles] When did you get so wise?
Summer: [Sighs] I don't know. Sometimes I feel like the oldest 20-year-old on the planet.
Nick: You've lost so much.
Summer: So have you. I mean, you had a whole future plan that blew up, but you got through it somehow. Just like I'm gonna get through Courtney's death. But luckily I have you as a dad and I have mom and Kyle all to help me get through it.
Nick: I don't think I've ever been more proud of you, Supergirl.
[Knock on door]
Summer: Hey!
Kyle: Hey.
Summer: Uh, my dad's here, but you can come in.
Kyle: Hey, Nick.
Nick: Hey, Kyle. Glad to see you here.
Kyle: Yeah.
Nick: Summer needs her friends right now.
Kyle: Well, she can always count on me.
Nick: I hope so. I love you.
Summer: I love you.
Nick: Call me if you need anything.
Summer: Okay.
[Door opens]
Kyle: So your mom says you're hanging in there.
Summer: I'm trying to. She spent the night last night, and dad just stopped by. They've been really great. I feel pretty lucky to have such great parents.
Kyle: Well, that's -- I'm glad for you.
Summer: Okay. What's wrong?
Kyle: No, I-I don't want to bother you with my problems.
Summer: Seriously? How many hours have you spent listening to mine? Come on. What is it?
Kyle: Dad was all over me, you know, about everything from my career to where he wants me to be tonight. Talk about micromanaging.
Summer: Where does he want you to be tonight?
Kyle: Oh, this is fun. I'm supposed to put on a suit and play the part of the dutiful Abbott son at some charity thing. I said I'd go, but I have zero interest. Even on a good day, I hate those things. They're so boring. [Chuckles]
Summer: Not if I go with you.
Jack: My talk with Kyle sure went well. A regular father/son bonding experience.
Phyllis: Might not have been the best time to bring up work. He knew Courtney. He's obviously worried about Summer.
Jack: I know. I-I-I get that. But when Victor is on the warpath, I want to keep my people close to me, especially Kyle. I want to keep him on the right path.
Phyllis: Your path. What about his?
Jack: Now you're starting to sound like him.
Phyllis: Only because Daniel and Summer made it painfully clear to me I can't make my kids' choices.
Jack: I just don't want him slacking off. I don't want him making the same mistakes Billy made at his age.
Phyllis: Billy turned his life around. He is not gambling anymore. He couldn't be any more loyal to this family. He's engaged to Chelsea. The kid's got it all.
Jack: I hope Billy remembers that, doesn't fall back on old habits when things get tough. 'Cause I think he's facing a major battle ahead.
Chelsea: Connor's napping. I shouldn't be long. I just have to stop by the office for a bit.
Anita: Well, could you come back in a better mood so we can dish about our new admirer?
Chelsea: Mom, get this through your head. Billy and I are very much in love. We are very happy together. How could I be interested in anybody else?
Anita: Just calm down. Geez. I wasn't suggesting that you switch horses. But the way you talk about Gabe, it's like he's some kind of a hero. And I did happen to read in the news that when his granny died, he inherited a massive fortune.
Chelsea: Here we go.
Anita: Oh, please. Come on. Billy's loaded, and so are you, for that matter, thanks to Adam. Look, all I'm saying is what girl wouldn't flustered when a man like that takes an interest in her?
Chelsea: A married man who lied to me, who was supposed to be my friend. No, I am -- I am focused on planning a wedding with the man that I love. I don't have time for other complications.
Anita: You know, you haven't mentioned the wedding in awhile. How is the planning going? Or -- or is it? Or...
Chelsea: Uh, well, Billy and I decided that we want to put off the planning just for a little while to make sure we get it right. But you know what? I think I changed my mind. I-I want to get married right away.
Anita: Oh, honey, that's fabulous. You know, all I want is for my baby girl to be happy.
Chelsea: I am. Very happy.
Adam: Now you've really done it, haven't you? You destroyed everything. Tens of millions of dollars out the door just like that.
Sage: I don't care about that money anymore. I never did with Gabe. No amount of money's worth this. Nothing is worth my freedom!
Adam: Sage, I needed that money! I need Gabriel's money to continue to live his life! What am I supposed to do?!
Sage: You're a highly paid executive! You'll figure it out! You just have to work for your money now! And you didn't deserve any of that money. Nothing you have done ever has allowed you any privilege of the Bingham name or estate!
Adam: I haven't done anything. Are you kidding me right now? You go to hell. Give me a scotch, will you? A big one, please.
Sage: Don't worry about it, honey. You're gonna be just fine. You're free of your old ball and chain. You can pursue Chelsea full-out. If you haven't already lost her, too.
Victor: Someone has to look out for your best interests, all right? That woman is not your friend.
Nikki: Well, Neil is, and I intend to help him.
Victor: At your own peril.
Nikki: We should both be indebted to him. He didn't have to go to the authorities and tell them that he caused the accident, but he insisted on it. Now they're going after him instead of me.
Victor: You shouldn't have covered for him in the first place.
Nikki: Well...
Victor: So Neil told the truth. That's great. He's a good man. He's an honest man. But you do not trust his attorney.
Nikki: I understand that she is building a defense for her client, but she needs to know the whole truth!
Victor: Are you really this gullible?
Nikki: Excuse me?
Victor: Since when are attorneys interested in finding out the truth? They don't give a damn! They want to get paid and win a case! The only time truth lights up their eyes is when they can use it to turn the case around and make you look guilty!
Devon: I don't know a man who wouldn't be affected by what my father went through, by what his shrew of a wife put him through. Now, I admit that I was a part of that, but, Mr. Mobley, this woman... I don't know a better word to describe her than "evil." She set out to destroy my family and then gloated after she did. And the only reason I'm even telling you about this is 'cause I'm trying to get you to understand that my father, Neil winters, is a good man. He's a great man. You can ask anybody in this town. They'll tell you the exact same thing. What he went through was too much for him, and that's why he broke his sobriety that night. And he's been living in his own personal hell ever since because it was an accident. He didn't intend to hurt anybody. He's not a criminal. You have to take these extenuating circumstances into account because if there's anyone who doesn't deserve to go to prison, it's my dad.
Winston: Well, I appreciate your desire to make this appeal on behalf of your father. But nothing you said changes the fact that an unborn child was killed. That can't go unpunished.
Devon: And what about Neil? Where's his justice in this?
Winston: I'm looking for justice for the parents of that child. And when the jury comes back with the guilty verdict, which I am convinced they will, I will be asking the judge for the maximum sentence.
Devon: Well, thank you for your time.
[Cell phone rings]
Winston: Winston Mobley.
Hilary: Hi, Winston. It's ann.
Winston: Hello there. Looking forward to our date tonight.
Hilary: Yeah. About that...
Winston: You're not canceling, are you?
Hilary: I was actually thinking about moving it up. Having it someplace a little more intimate? How about my suite?
Nick: Hey.
Sage: Nick. Hi. How are Summer and Noah?
Nick: Uh, they're getting by. It's pretty rough, though.
Sage: I'm so sorry.
Nick: Meant a lot when you came by the police station to check on me.
Sage: It's very overwhelming for you.
Nick: Well, I really meant to warn you about Gabe. Um, he and I had some words, and I didn't want him to go home and take his foul mood out on you.
Sage: He didn't get the chance because I moved out. I didn't even see him last night.
Nick: Wait, are you saying you...?
Sage: Yeah. I packed my bags. And I ended this farce of a marriage.
Nick: Wow. Look at you. [Chuckles] Would it be tacky to say congratulations?
Sage: No. Not at all.
Nick: Well, you've been thinking about this for a while. What made you finally go for it?
Sage: You.
Anita: Hello.
Adam: Hi.
Anita: I know you.
Adam: Yeah?
Anita: I do. I met you at the coffeehouse on new year's eve. You bought my grands-- Connor a cupcake.
Adam: Cupcake. That's right. You have a fantastic memory. Yeah. That's good.
Anita: What -- what do you want?
Adam: You know, I'm -- I'm actually -- my name is Gabriel Bingham. I work with your daughter --
Anita: You're Gabe?
Adam: Yeah.
Anita: Come in.
Adam: Okay. Um, so -- so Chelsea is here? She's upstairs?
Anita: No. Which gives me a chance to ask you what were you thinking coming, making a play for my daughter?
Adam: So we're just gonna blow right past the pleasantries?
Anita: Oh, yes. That's not my style. I mean, what did you think would happen with Chelsea? She's madly in love with another man.
Adam: Yeah, I know. I know. Her late husband.
Anita: No. I meant her fiancé.
Adam: Right, and I meant her late husband. She's in love with Adam Newman.
Anita: Why would you say that? She's very happy now with Billy.
Adam: [Scoffs] You know, I'm not so sure about that. Come here. I spent a lot of time with them, you know, especially recently. Go ahead and have a seat. And, um, I got to tell you, you know, honestly, I don't like what I'm seeing.
Anita: Why? What have you seen?
Adam: Well, to me, it seems like Billy's... well, to be frank, still hung up on his ex-wife. I think he would just run right back to her if she were available. It scares me.
Anita: And assuming you were free, you think you'd be a better match for Chelsea?
Adam: Absolutely, yes.
Anita: You are so cocky. What do you think you can offer her?
Adam: Well, I-I think I can offer her... exactly what her late husband offered her -- love, security, compassion. I've heard a lot of stories about him. He made a lot of mistakes. But I know that they were dedicated to each other. And she was the love of his life and vice versa. And if that man walked through that door right now, he would do everything in his power to make things right. He would do everything in his power to win her back again.
Anita: I am not so sure she would forgive him.
Adam: She would.
Anita: I don't know about that.
Adam: Absolutely she would. The Chelsea that I know would forgive him. Which is actually why I'm here.
[Door opens]
Adam: I'm sort of seeking a little forgive--
Chelsea: Yes. We'll be there. What are you doing here? I told you to stay away from me.
Nikki: I'm through debating this with you. I can look out for Neil. I can handle Leslie all at the same time. Isn't that amazing? I don't need you hovering over me. Actually, I'm shocked you were even here for the meeting, given your recent obsession with Jabot.
Victor: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't change the subject, okay?
Nikki: Mm-hmm. You're upset with me because I want to tell the truth? You won't tell me a word about what you're really up to.
Victor: Can we finally stop fighting, for heaven's sake? I'm sick and tired of fighting with you. This family has so much on its plate. I don't want to fight anymore.
Nikki: I don't, either.
Victor: Good.
Nikki: Especially now. We have to put smiles on our face and make an appearance at that fundraiser.
Victor: Are you going?
Nikki: Yes! It's an important event. It's for a good cause. And you know the Abbotts will be there in full force. I don't want any tension.
Victor: I'll surprise you. I'll be on my best behavior.
Nikki: I'll believe that when I see it.
Victor: [Laughs]
Jack: We've got to be ready for whatever Victor throws our way. And we will be. Once the black knight is vanquished, I look forward to a bright future with my gorgeous bride.
Phyllis: Does this bright future possibly include some fun? Maybe a vacation now and then? Or are you planning to rule the cosmetics world until you draw your very last breath?
Jack: I am not on slow-down mode. Not by any stretch of the imagination. But... I know what you're asking.
Phyllis: And what is your answer?
Jack: Once we are past this crisis, I would love to travel with my bride.
Phyllis: Good, because we really did have a fabulous time in Istanbul.
Jack: I promise you it won't be a one-time thing. Promise.
Phyllis: Okay.
Jack: I mean, Billy and Ashley can cover for me if I need them to, but long-term... I want to groom Kyle to run the company, the same way my dad did for me.
Phyllis: Honey, I know how important it is for you to pass the torch to your son, but Kyle may not be on the same page.
Jack: Okay, maybe not now, but...
Phyllis: Just give him some time to adjust. Remember, Jabot is not what brought him home.
Jack: Yeah, that's true. I just want the family company one day to mean as much to Kyle as it does to me.
Kyle: I didn't think you'd be up for anything, you know, going out after everything that's happened.
Summer: My mom said that my aunt Avery's getting an award tonight, so, uh, it would be nice to be there. Plus I've been spending so much time alone lately crying and freaking out about whoever's after us, so it'd be nice to get my mind off of it for a little bit.
Kyle: Yeah, and, um [Clears throat] I mean, Paul did say that we should act normal as though, um, you know, someone wasn't watching us or whatever.
Summer: Okay, so, uh, do you want to pick me up here later?
Kyle: Yeah. I'll see you then.
Summer: Okay.
[Door opens]
Chelsea: Leave. Now.
Adam: Look --
Anita: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Sweetie, the man came to apologize. I mean, the least you could do is listen to him. I mean, heaven knows your heart has made you do some pretty questionable things.
Chelsea: Okay, okay, thanks, mom. You can go. Thank you for watching Connor. You know, I-I don't appreciate you using my mother to get close to me.
Adam: Just hold on. Let me explain.
Chelsea: I let you explain. You told me everything I need to know!
Adam: I didn't tell you everything.
Sage: When you told me I needed my own life, you were right. So I told Gabe that I was out. I told Tipton I wanted a divorce. And it happened so fast, I couldn't believe it.
Nick: So what happens now?
Sage: I got a room upstairs, and that's about as far as I've gotten.
Nick: Well, you're gonna figure it out. And for what it's worth, I'm proud of you.
Sage: I'm proud of me, too.
Nick: Still, it's got to be a little daunting. I mean, Gabe's been a part of your life for years, and despite how badly things turned out, I know you did care about him once.
Sage: He's my past now. And now that I've made my decision, I'm so relieved. There's no more obstacles in living the life I want to live.
Nick: Are you absolutely sure you're ready to move on?
Sage: I've never been more sure of anything.
Adam: Everything has changed, okay? Uh, Sage and I are done. We're filing for divorce. We -- we told the estate planner it is done. That's how much you mean to me.
Chelsea: But -- but your inheritance --
Adam: I don't care about my inheritance. Nothing matters as much as you do to me. That's why I'm here. You see what I'm doing? I'm fighting for you. You see that? Which is more than I can say for your -- your paper fiancé. Where -- where's he? What the hell did he do? He left town?
Chelsea: [Sighs]
Adam: What happened? You guys get in a fight or something?
Chelsea: No.
Adam: What did he do?
Chelsea: He didn't do anything. I just -- I wish Billy was here, too, especially today.
Adam: What happened?
Chelsea: It's not any of your business, Gabriel! Please leave!
Adam: Chelsea, wait.
Chelsea: No! You don't get to be a part of my life anymore! [Sniffles]
Hilary: Feel those muscles.
Winston: Mmm.
Hilary: So tense. Must have had a stressful day.
Winston: I had to tell this defendant's son that I'm throwing the book at his dad.
Hilary: Ouch.
Winston: Whole family's a mess. Wife of the guy I'm prosecuting sounds like a real piece of work. Seduced the man's son out of revenge. She ought to be on trial right alongside her husband.
Hilary: Well... let's see if we can take your mind off of all...that.
Nikki: I know you've been distraught -- for very good reason. But you have enough problems, Neil. I thought you would have stopped drinking after the accident.
Neil: Okay, if this is another invite to an AA. Meeting, you can save it.
Nikki: I would gladly take you.
Neil: We all know how well that worked out last time. Maybe we can mow down an entire family this time.
Nikki: All right, can we dispense with the sick humor, please? I am trying to help you.
Neil: Okay.
Nikki: I am working with your lawyer, and I'm trying to get Victor to stay out of it.
Neil: I don't care about Victor, about what he thinks about me, my court case, my attorney, none of that.
Nikki: You know what? You are absolutely right. To hell with what other people think. The only thing that matters is how you feel when you look in that mirror. What do you think about that guy staring back at you? You like him? I can't imagine that you do. It's not you, Neil. It's some pathetic, self-destructive guy that you have apparently chosen to be right now. So, what's your plan? You gonna drink yourself into oblivion until they throw you into a cell? You act like your life is over, but it isn't, Neil. Like it or not, you're still here and you still matter and you still have the chance to be the man you once were. For the love of God, don't throw that away.
Devon: Hey. I spoke to Winston Mobley.
Neil: Yeah? After I told you not to?
Devon: Yeah, and you were right. He doesn't care about what you've been through 'cause he's coming after you full force.
Neil: Yeah, I know. Like I expected.
Devon: You are out on bail. And I have the money to set you up overseas with a new identity, a new life, new everything where no one would know where you are.
Neil: Like I'm gonna leave behind my real son? Forget it.
Devon: Dad, please. Please.
Neil: No. I'm not gonna run. No matter how bad the odds are, I'm gonna fight like a man.
[Cell phone rings]
Hilary: Oh. Let it go to voicemail.
Winston: It might be work. [Sighs] Leslie, what's up?
Leslie: Let's talk plea bargain.
Winston: You're willing to make a deal? Getting desperate?
Leslie: I'm being pragmatic. Is there an offer on the table I can present to my client?
Winston: Dream on. My boss wants him to serve time. For Mr. Winters to plead out, it would take something extraordinary.
Summer: So, what do you think? Of the dress, I mean. Be honest.
Kyle: It's simple, but elegant.
Summer: Mm-hmm.
Kyle: A little daring. Beautiful. It's you.
Jack: Perfect. You bet. I will be in touch. Yeah. Well, you better have your bag packed when we go tonight, because that was the pilot. He is gonna drop us off in the islands right after the benefit.
Phyllis: Oh, Jack, this is it. Our wedding -- it's finally happening.
Jack: Yeah.
Phyllis: Yeah.
Victor: The Abbotts are closing ranks behind their family hierarchy. They always do that when under a threat, all right? I'm gonna blow that hierarchy to smithereens and change the order of it. And you and I will be at the top.
Adam: And I know that you're mad at me, and I understand why you're mad at me. I do. But I'm still your friend, okay, and I care deeply about you. So whatever it is that's going on, whatever's bothering you, you don't have to do this alone, okay? I'm here. Just let me help you.
Chelsea: [Sighs] [Voice breaking] When I walked in the door, I was on the phone with Connor's doctor. He had bad news.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Sharon: Am I a suspect, Paul?
Jack: What is your husband up to this time?
Joe: So, it's with my great honor to present her with the first-ever better days award. Avery Bailey Clark.
[Applause]
