[Door opens]

Paul: Hey, there! I was just thinking about you. How did the arraignment go?

Christine: Just as I expected.

Paul: That doesn't sound good.

Christine: Even with Neil's full confession, there's gonna be some problems.

Paul: Don't tell me the judge threw out the case.

Christine: No, but he will, if Nikki and Victor get their way.

Nikki: Well, that couldn't have gone much better. I was worried, though, you weren't gonna get bail.

Victor: Well, I guess a lot of this could have been avoided had you admitted responsibility for the accident a little sooner.

Nikki: Well, I'm the one who convinced him to not come forward, as you well know.

Victor: Neil, would you like me to tell my lawyer to be by your side during the trial?

Neil: Thanks, Victor. That's really not necessary.

Lily: You're sure dad's out on bail?

Devon: That's what Nikki's text said. They're at the police station right now, wrapping up loose ends.

Lily: Wish I could have been there for him myself, but I had no one here to cover for me.

Devon: At least he wanted you there.

Lily: Well -- oh, God. The cockroach is here.

Devon: You can come out. Were you listening to us?

Hilary: Well, you know, it's a good thing that I was, or I wouldn't have heard that Neil finally confessed to killing Christine's baby.

Lily: He didn't kill anybody.

Devon: It was an accident.

Hilary: Mm, yeah. I know that's what he told you, but it's not like you can trust the word of a drunk.

Lily: He grabbed the wheel of Nikki's car, and Christine happened to be in the way. That's it.

Hilary: Good luck convincing a jury of that. I hope you hired a dream team of lawyers.

Devon: What difference does it make to you? You set out to ruin Neil's life. You did it. Why do you keep asking questions about him? Why do you even care?

Lauren: I hope you're ready for a little romance. Ohh!

Cane: Yeah. I think your husband may have a little problem with that.

Lauren: [Laughing] Yeah. Cane, I'm so sorry. Um, Michael's out at a meeting, and I thought I would surprise him.

Cane: Okay. Well, it looks like I'm interrupting, so, uh --

Lauren: Oh, no, no. He'll be -- he'll be back.

Cane: I just wanted to discuss some business with him.

Lauren: All right. He'll be back really soon. I promise.

Cane: You sure? I mean, I don't want to interrupt your plans.

Lauren: No. I mean, what's an extra half-hour when you have the whole evening, right?

Cane: Yeah. I remember evenings like that.

Lauren: It's hard to find time when you have little kids. I remember.

Cane: But that's not really what the problem is. Things have been a little tense at home since, uh, well, lily found out at Devon and Hilary's affair, and then you couple that with the fact she's still reeling from the plane crash. And now things will never be the same, you know.

Lauren: You know that's really not true, right?

Phyllis: I have a very bad, bad feeling about this.

Jack: Don't let Victor get to you.

Phyllis: It's not just about Victor. It's Kelly. She's still out there, and she's still a threat.

Jack: Not to you.

Phyllis: You don't know that, Jack. She is capable of anything, especially if she wants it bad enough.

Jack: Not if it's gonna cost her her freedom.

Phyllis: I wish I could believe that.

Jack: You can believe that. Look at me. Trust me. The last thing Kelly wants is to go to prison. That's the only thing that's gonna happen if she comes back here.

Phyllis: You see, a woman like that does not give up and just walk away, and neither does Victor. He is after something. They both are, and they are working together, which means we need to be ready for them.

Cane: You see, it's not the first time I've kept something from lily, so she has all this resentment built up towards me.

Lauren: Well, resentment that you think you can get past?

Cane: I don't know. But, hey, she's talking to me again, and I'm back in the house.

Lauren: Okay. Well, that's big, right?

Cane: No, but I'm in the guest room, so...

Lauren: Ah, baby steps.

Cane: Yeah.

Lauren: That's always how Michael and I have handled things when we've had problems. Of course, we've never been faced with anything like this before.

Cane: You mean his cancer?

Lauren: I mean, his prognosis is good. But still...

Cane: Still, it's overwhelming.

Lauren: How did you cope? You know, remember when lily was so sick that she was afraid to go to sleep because she didn't think that she was gonna wake up?

Cane: I mean, I... I used to sit there, and I'd think to myself, you know, "why is this happening to lily? She didn't hurt anybody, so why does she have to suffer?" You have so many questions. There's no answer for the questions, so all you do is help. You sit there and you think how much you love them. You tell them how beautiful they are, that the cancer's not gonna change who they are. And then you honor that vow you made to love them to the end, you know? And nothing is -- nothing's gonna change it, you know? Nothing can change that.

Michael: Oh, wow. A party!

Lauren: [Sniffles]

Michael: Or possibly the saddest party ever? What's going on?

Devon: Answer me! Why do you even bother with us? Is it to gloat about screwing us over, or is there another reason that you're so invested?

Lily: No. The only thing Hilary is invested in is her bank account, because if dad has legal problems, that affects divorce and, more importantly, her settlement.

Devon: Well, that makes a lot of sense. So, you're after his money?

Hilary: Well, what if I am? At least we'd be on the same team for once. I want Neil to get out of this just as much as you do.

Neil: Don't get me wrong. I thank you for hiring an attorney for me.

Victor: Neil, let me remind you Henderson is one of the best lawyers in the country.

Neil: Victor, I got myself into this mess, and I'm gonna get myself out.

Nikki: We were both in that car.

Neil: Nikki, I was drunk. I grabbed the wheel. I'm the reason Christine lost her baby. It's my fault, and whatever happens from here on in is my world, not yours.

Nikki: Will you try to talk some sense into him?

Neil: Nothing's gonna change my mind. Now, I'm gonna go grab my stuff, go outside, and grab some fresh air for a change.

Victor: If you change your mind, you phone me.

Nikki: Oh, my God. He's making a mistake.

Victor: He's taking responsibility for what happened. Let him, okay?

Christine: What are you still doing here?

Nikki: Uh, just finished, uh, seeing Neil to get his bail.

Victor: I am very glad this whole ordeal is behind us, finally.

Paul: Yes. Uh, I am, too. And it gives me a chance to say how sorry I am for being so quick to think that you would intentionally hurt Chris.

Christine: Why are you apologizing to her? It's not like she's so innocent in this.

Paul: Chris.

Christine: No. She lied to the police, she lied to the court, all to cover for a man who cost us our baby.

Nikki: I was just trying to prevent one tragedy from becoming two.

Christine: Yeah, well, now you've got three.

Nikki: What do you mean?

Christine: I'm charging you with obstructing a police officer.

Victor: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Christine, are you sure we cannot solve this amicably?

Paul: Why don't you and I talk about this?

Christine: No. I'm done talking. You're gonna pay for what you did.

Victor: Christine, let's get this straight -- Nikki and I are both very, very upset about your loss -- very. But that gives you no right to go on a witch hunt. I won't allow it.

Christine: Yeah, well, I'm sorry, but you really have no say in the matter.

Victor: I will not allow it! I will have my lawyers throw out your charges! Is that clear?!

Jack: Don't you think you're taking this a bit too far?

Phyllis: Victor and Kelly are teaming up against us. No. I think it sounds like something they would totally do. You've just said you think he's setting you up for a trap. We both know that he's behind her sudden disappearance.

Jack: Even if he is, she is in no shape to follow his orders. You should have heard her in this phone call. I'm telling you, the one of her voice, everything she was saying --

Phyllis: I've heard her say a lot of things. None of them are true.

Jack: Okay. I have a private investigator who is working with authorities to try to find her. Hopefully they will before --

Phyllis: What? Before she hurts herself?

Jack: That is a real possibility. Look, I want this to end, too. I don't want it to end that way.

Michael: What's with the long faces?

Lauren: [Chuckles nervously] Don't know what you're talking about. Cane and I were just passing time, waiting for you.

Cane: Yeah. I have a business matter I'd like to discuss with you.

Lauren: And I thought we could order dinner in and unwind a little, if you know what I mean. But first things first, and I'll be back.

Michael: [Clears throat] So, what can I do for you, Cane?

Cane: Um...I'd like you to take a look at that for me, if you could.

Michael: Your contract with chancellor?

Cane: I'd like to know if I'm locked into this number-2 position or if there's a way around it.

Michael: You sound suspiciously like you want a way to make an end run around Jill and take over the company for yourself.

Paul: Neil. I thought you'd be gone by now.

Neil: I wanted a moment alone with you both first.

Christine: Let me guess -- you're gonna recant your confession? You didn't steer the car right toward me? You were avoiding a pothole?

Paul: I think we should give Neil a chance to speak.

Christine: No. Neil can speak all he wants. It's not gonna change. Nothing is going to help. Not only are you facing criminal charges, but I am going to file a civil suit against you and Nikki for all you're worth. I think that's only fair, after what you took from us.

Lily: What is it gonna take to get rid of that woman? 'Cause every time she opens her mouth, I want to put my fist through it. But she's right, though. I mean, we do have to figure out a way to get dad out of this.

Devon: Especially since he's not his best advocate right now, with all the guilt he's feeling.

Lily: No. I'm afraid that he doesn't have it in him to even fight for himself.

Devon: I think I know someone who would, though, although Neil's not gonna like it.

Jack: [Sighs] [Breathing deeply]

John: That's a good book. You ought to finish it.

Jack: Hey, dad. It's been a while.

John: Oh. A little too long, from the looks of it. I hate to see you like this.

Jack: Oh, dad, I really messed up this time.

John: No. You did what you thought was right.

Jack: Don't make excuses for me. I don't deserve it. No. Everything that is happening is my fault.

Nikki: Come in.

Phyllis: Nikki, thank you for accepting me at the gate.

Nikki: And if we had said no, would that have stopped you?

Phyllis: I couldn't let Victor's visit to Jack and me go without a follow-up. He left so quickly, we barely could digest his little bombshell.

Nikki: What is she talking about?

Victor: Nothing important, my dear.

Phyllis: Wanting to buy Jabot isn't important?

Nikki: Okay, wait. You want to buy Jabot?

Phyllis: And the question is, "why?"

Victor: You want to know my motivation? I'll give it to you.

Michael: So, you're planning a coup.

Cane: I'd rather not call it a coup.

Michael: Such an ugly word.

Cane: See, look -- the fact of the matter is I was, uh -- I was kind of railroaded into this number-2 position under duress.

Michael: Duress?

Cane: My father started blackmailing me 'cause he knew I was aware of Hilary and Devon's affair and I was keeping it a secret from Neil and lily.

Michael: Colin. He finds his way into so many stories. So, you agreed to cede the position of C.E.O. To Jill in order to keep Colin silent?

Cane: And now the secret's out, so I don't --

Michael: And now you want what you think is your due.

Cane: No, no. I don't think this is my due. I don't.

Michael: Then what exactly do you think? Because I got to tell you, I'm not comfortable talking about this, much less representing you, or have you forgotten that Jill is my sister-in-law?

Cane: No. I haven't forgotten that, and I was very reticent about coming to you and talking about this because of that very reason.

Michael: Well, why did you?

Cane: If you want me to be honest with you, I like the top spot at chancellor. I like it a lot. I really do. And I want to take that company in the direction that I think it should go. Part of it is 'cause I have a lot of ambition.

Michael: And the other part?

Cane: I'm concerned about chancellor, 'cause I really like the company, and I just don't think right now Jill can -- can run Fenmore and chancellor. She can't do it. The employees -- they feel rudderless. They're coming to me. They're asking me questions that I'm not authorized to give them answers for, so I just -- [Sighs] I'm kind of stuck.

Michael: Maybe it is as simple as asking Jill to pull back from Fenmore's. I mean, Lauren is capable of handling Fenmore's on her own. She did for years.

Cane: No. She won't do that now.

Michael: Why? What's different?

Cane: Well, because you're dealing with this disease, and, you know, Jill wants to be here for you and Lauren, so she won't do that.

Michael: "This disease"?

John: Nobody is at fault for this. The circumstances were beyond your control.

Jack: I should never have gotten involved with Kelly.

John: Jack, you wanted a life, a future. You were told that Phyllis would never be able to give that to you.

Jack: Yeah, and as soon as Phyllis came back, I should have made it clear to Kelly there was no future for us. Instead, I just strung her along.

John: Because you didn't want to hurt her.

Jack: And that's exactly what I did. I gave her hope that there was some future for the two of us when there was none. I just took it away. No wonder she's jealous of Phyllis.

John: Well, now, it's one thing to be jealous. It's another thing to act on it the way she did.

Jack: Oh, God, dad -- the lengths she went to. She actually poisoned herself... all to set Phyllis up for attempted murder. I-I bought in to it. I-I didn't realize how much she was struggling.

John: You weren't trained to realize. Kelly needed a doctor.

Jack: And I didn't get her one.

John: Ohh.

Jack: I didn't get her any help at all. I didn't help her one bit, dad, and now I'd love to before it's -- before it's too late.

Victor: You want to know what my motivation is? Profit. Jabot is doing better than it has in a long, long time -- ripe for an acquisition by Newman.

Phyllis: So, you figured, "why not make an offer?"

Victor: You bet.

Phyllis: Even though you knew Jack would turn you down?

Victor: In business, nothing is ever irrevocable. Depends on the sweetness of the proposition.

Phyllis: Jack will never give up Jabot. It took him years to get it back after that company went public.

Victor: You know whose fault that was? Jack Abbott's fault. He took that company public against the wishes of his father. It nearly killed john.

Phyllis: No. You know what nearly killed him?

Victor: What?

Phyllis: You buying up enough shares to make yourself a majority owner. Why would you do that to a man you claim you respected?

Victor: Are you naive? There are no emotions in business. It's all about numbers. I never had an ill feeling toward john Abbott as long as he lived, and he is 10 times the man Jack will ever be.

Phyllis: And you will never let that go, because to you, Jack will never measure up.

Victor: You bet.

Phyllis: And that bugs the hell out of you, 'cause you cannot stand even the slightest bit of vulnerability. You attack it. You stamp it out. And I wonder why you even bothered to save his life in that building collapse. Did you just do that so you could have the pleasure of annihilating him yourself?

Nikki: All right, Phyllis. That is enough. How dare you come down on Victor when he gave you a place to live, helped you when nobody else would?

Victor: Let me ask you something. How do you have the audacity to come in here and give me a lecture? I know you're overwrought. I don't blame you, considering what you've gone through the past couple of years. It's enormous. But remember one thing -- I saved your damn life.

Phyllis: Yes, you did.

Victor: You bet.

Phyllis: And I'm appreciative, which is why I'm so damn angry right now that you were trying to take it away from me. You, Jack, and I were gonna work together to make sure that Kelly stayed locked up. But then, suddenly, you set her loose? What did you do? Did you set up a little hideaway for her so that she can just stay put and be quiet and you tell her when you need her when whatever you have planned for Jack?

Nikki: My, my goodness. Can you not be so dramatic? Go ahead, Victor, and tell her that you have no idea where Kelly is.

Victor: But I do.

Neil: It really doesn't surprise me that you'd be filing a civil suit against me. I'll admit I was reckless. But you have to understand that my life has been spinning out of control ever since I found out that my wife has been sleeping with my son, and I-I started drinking very heavily to try to numb the pain.

Christine: I hope you don't expect me to feel sorry for you.

Neil: Chris, I would never expect you to feel sorry for me. I certainly don't. I'm here to simply take responsibility for what I've done, and, honestly, I should have done this a lot sooner.

Christine: Yes, you should have.

Paul: Neil... I appreciate you taking the initiative now.

Neil: You have no idea... how sorry I am. Every day for the rest of my life, I will always think of what you've lost because of me. Now, I don't know if that makes a difference to you or if you'll ever accept my apology... but I'm here to offer it. Christine, I will say this forever and a day. I am deeply sorry for what I cost you -- your baby, your family -- and I've come forward, and I'm telling you the truth so I can give you some sense of closure, maybe.

Christine: You think I can just forget about this and move on?

Paul: No. I'm sure that's not what Neil meant.

Christine: All the words and all the apologies will never make up for what you did. [Voice breaking] I will never forgive you for this.

[Knock on door]

Paul: [Sighs heavily] Winston! What are you doing here?

Christine: I called him. This is ADA Winston Mobley. He'll be prosecuting you. Since I can't do it myself, there is nobody I trust more than Winston to nail your ass to the wall.

Paul: I think you should go now, Neil.

Hilary: Neil.

Neil: I don't have time for you.

Hilary: Well, make time, or you'll regret it.

Michael: I'm not sure what you mean by, uh, "this disease."

Cane: I mean the cancer.

Michael: My cancer?

Cane: Yeah. Oh, I'm sorry. No. Hey. I apologize. I'm sorry.

Michael: There's absolutely no reason to be sorry. I just wasn't aware that this was an appropriate topic of conversation amongst acquaintances. We cross paths occasionally, so you'll have to forgive me if I wasn't prepared to delve into a discussion of my cancer.

Cane: Okay. All right. I didn't mean to offend you. I didn't. I thought it was, uh -- I thought it was common knowledge. I'm sorry.

Michael: Yeah. Well, with Jill and Phyllis in the know, I'm sure it's just a matter of moments before it becomes completely common knowledge.

Cane: That is probably true. It's just, uh, having gone through this with lily, I know that it gave her a lot of comfort, having family and friends around for support.

Michael: Yeah, I'm sure, but that was her cancer, and this is my cancer. And I was hoping to keep it mine.

Cane: No. It's just in my experience, you know, lily talked about it, you know, and it was like a lifeline for her, so if you want to talk about it --

Michael: I don't want to talk about it.

Cane: I understand. All right. Um, well, if you can, uh, take a look at the contract and let me know what you think, I'd appreciate it, so...

Michael: Radiation therapy. Radiation, it makes me cranky -- more cranky than usual. I didn't mean to snap at you.

Cane: Hey, everybody's snapping at me lately, so why can't you?

Michael: You were just trying to be helpful with your offer of talking. I should tell you that I will never, ever take you up on that offer. I appreciate it. Um...you're a good man. I'll -- I'm gonna take a look at this contract.

Cane: I appreciate that.

Michael: Okay.

Cane: You be well, Michael.

John: Jackie, you are way too tough on yourself. You're a good man who made the best possible choices based on information given to you. I would have done exactly as you did in your place.

Jack: No, you wouldn't have. You'd have seen the signs that Kelly was struggling, and you'd have done something about it.

John: You always put me on a pedestal I don't deserve. Look at me. I am an ordinary man. I've made good decisions and bad ones.

Jack: Not this bad.

John: Look, I know how worried you are about this young girl and how torn up you'd be if anything happened to her. But, Jackie, her fate isn't up to you. It never was. Her problems began long before she met you.

Jack: That doesn't give me a pass. Don't you see? I added to her pain, and then I just looked away. And if, God forbid, she winds up dead... everyone's gonna assume that she self-destructed. But I will know... that I had a big hand in destroying her life. [Sighs]

Victor: After Kelly jumped bail, I had my people search for her.

Phyllis: Are you saying they found her?

Victor: Kelly Andrews is dead.

Nikki: My God. What happened?

Victor: Indications are she committed suicide.

Phyllis: That's a little convenient, don't you think?

Nikki: Please. What reason would he have to lie?

Victor: She is gone, I assure you.

Phyllis: Can you prove it?

Victor: What would it take?

Phyllis: For me to see it for myself.

Neil: How could there possibly be anything I could regret more than letting you into my life? There's not a snowball's chance in hell that I'm gonna let you back in.

Hilary: Neil, listen to me. Neil, listen to me. I can keep you from getting convicted. [Sighs] There are ways to get the case thrown out.

Neil: That'll never happen. I already confessed.

Hilary: Well, people confess for all kinds of reasons. I could testify that you told me you had nothing to live for because of me and that's the reason why you decided to take the fall for Nikki.

Neil: And who's gonna believe that?

Hilary: What reason would I have to lie? Why would I put myself out to save my ex?

Neil: Ha. I saw you at the door when Christine was telling me that she was gonna file a civil suit against me. You see, you're worried that you're gonna lose out on a big chunk of the divorce settlement. It's almost worth taking any chance I've got to make sure you end up with nothing -- zero, boo -- just like you deserve.

Winston: He gave a full confession. This is gonna be the easiest case I've ever had.

Christine: I'm expecting you to get the maximum penalty.

Winston: I won't let you down.

Christine: Thanks.

Paul: All right, Winston.

Winston: Paul.

Christine: He's the best. He's gonna destroy Neil.

Paul: So, is that what you want? Wasn't one life enough?

Christine: That one life was ours -- our child.

Paul: But all this hate, this rage, won't bring her back.

Christine: Yeah, where's your hate and where's your rage? You act like Neil is just a regular guy about to stand trial. Doesn't it matter to you that he was the one that killed our baby?! Maybe not. You already have children, so, what, no big deal if you don't have one more?

Paul: I wanted that baby more than anything, and not because I would have a chance to raise our daughter from birth... but because she was our daughter. I loved you for so long, Chris, I'd pretty much given up hope for us. But you have no idea -- you can't imagine -- how grateful and amazed I was when you became my wife again. Truly, I thought, "wow. Once again, anything's possible." I'd finally gotten a second chance that I had hoped for. [Crying] And when you told me that you were pregnant with our child... I was the happiest man on earth. So, please, do not tell me... that our daughter meant less to me than she did to you... 'cause I will mourn her absence for the rest of my days.

Christine: [Crying] You're gonna ha-- you're gonna have to, because there isn't gonna be another one.

Paul: You say that now. You do. Just wait.

Christine: It won't matter, because... I can't -- I can't have any more children.

Lily: Dad.

Neil: Hey.

Lily: Hi. Good news.

Neil: Yeah? Is it about my bail?

Lily: Yes, that, and we found the perfect lawyer to represent you.

Neil: Really?

Lily: Now, keep an open mind, but Leslie has agreed to be your attorney.

Leslie: Hello, Neil. It's nice seeing you again. I just wish the circumstances were better.

Neil: I thought you were working as a prosecutor.

Leslie: Oh, I got a job on the legal aid board instead. But when Devon called and told me what was going on, I requested a leave to take your case.

Neil: Mighty considerate of you, young man, but I can speak for myself. Thank you very much.

Devon: Well, I'm just trying to help you.

Leslie: I know things ended badly between us, but I was hoping we were beyond that now, especially since you need some help.

Neil: Is that what you were hoping? I think I can handle things. Thank you.

Leslie: You've been charged with second-degree reckless homicide. That carries a sentence of up to 25 years -- hell of a long time to serve for an unfortunate accident. Now have a seat. Let's find a way to get you out of this.

Lily: Dad, listen to Leslie, okay? I'll be right back.

Lily: Hi.

Cane: Hey. It's good news. Your dad got bail, huh?

Lily: Yeah. Why don't you come over and say something?

Cane: I just wanted to talk to you first.

Lily: About what?

Cane: How would you feel about me moving back into the bedroom tonight?

Lauren: I'm back.

Michael: Wearing a different coat, I see.

Lauren: That's right. You should see what's under it or, uh, not under it.

Michael: I thought we were gonna order out for dinner. What about Thai? I've been craving Thai.

Lauren: Really? Have you been craving it as much as this?

Michael: [Chuckles]

Lauren: [Giggles]

Michael: What if somebody walks in?

Lauren: Yeah, what if they do? Half the fun is seeing if someone's gonna walk in or not.

Michael: Just stop. Stop it!

Nikki: Well, that was a shock.

Victor: Yeah.

Nikki: I was never really all that fond of Kelly, but I certainly didn't wish her ill.

Victor: Hopefully, she's in a better place now.

Nikki: I doubt Jack would agree with you.

Victor: That's his problem.

Nikki: Okay. Let me ask you something.

Victor: Mm-hmm?

Nikki: What's the real reason you wanted to buy Jabot? What do you have up your sleeve?

Jack: Hey! I was looking for you. Where you been?

Phyllis: I was at Victor's, trying to see what he was up to.

Jack: Honey...

Phyllis: Before you tell me I should have just left it alone, I-I have something to tell you.

Jack: About his plans for Jabot?

Phyllis: Look, it's about Kelly. He tracked her down.

Jack: And?

Phyllis: I'm very sorry, Jack. You were right to be worried about all of this all along. I didn't want to believe it, but I saw it for myself.

Jack: What do you mean? You saw what?

Phyllis: A picture of Kelly.

Jack: Is that it?

Phyllis: Yeah. Look, you don't have to do this right now.

Cane: So, I spent some time today talking with Michael and Lauren about Michael's cancer, and, uh... it made me think about what we went through. But there's, um... there's something I haven't told you. I used to lay in bed at night, and I'd -- I'd just -- I'd watch you breathe, and I'd just watch your chest go up and down, and that's how I knew you were still with me. And I'd lay there and just watch you breathe until I'd fall asleep. I'm not happy if you're not the last thing I see at night or the first thing I see in the morning. I'm just not happy. Hmm?

Lily: I guess I have... missed your snoring.

Cane: I don't snore.

Lily: Don't get me started. Don't.

Cane: I don't snore. I don't. So... all I want to ask you is... can you fall asleep in my arms again?

Lily: I'd like that.

Lauren: Sorry. I... you know, we've been under so much stress lately, I... I just wanted us to have fun like we used to.

Michael: You want everything to be the same. It's not gonna be.

Lauren: This disease does not define you. You are still you.

Michael: For how long?

Lauren: Oh, honey, come on.

Michael: Look... I have been fighting this thing with everything I have. How could it not change me? How could it not change us? What happens once this fight is over? I can't pretend anymore. I tried. I tried. I just can't do it.

Paul: What do you mean, you can't have any more children?

Christine: There were comp-- complications, Paul.

Paul: What kind of complications? Why didn't you tell me?

Christine: I just couldn't. I'm sorry.

Paul: Oh, God, Chris.

Neil: You're right, as usual. I do need some help. I just don't think you're the one to give it to me.

Leslie: Okay. Forget about what happened between us. Forget about Devon and Hilary and think about whether you want your life confined to a cold, cramped cell.

Devon: Leslie's right.

Neil: Did I ask for your opinion?

Devon: No, you didn't ask for my opinion, but I'm still gonna give it to you. All right? I know you don't think of me as your son anymore, but I am your son, and so is Moses. And who's gonna explain to him why his father's no longer in his life? Who's gonna explain to Charlie and Mattie why their grandpa is gone? Do you really understand that if you get the maximum sentence, you could be put in jail for almost the rest of your life? Is that what you want? Or do you want this woman to fight for you like no one else will?

Neil: [Inhales deeply] Okay. I'm doing it for my children... not for you.

Devon: As long as you're gonna do it.

Hilary: Oh, my gosh. Pardon me. I am -- I'm so sorry. My head is just -- pfft! -- In the clouds today.

Winston: No harm done.

Hilary: Well, the least I can do is buy you a cup of coffee. You care to join me?

Phyllis: You've done nothing wrong. Please try to remember that. Hey...I'm gonna give you some time alone, okay?

Jack: Yeah.

Phyllis: Okay.

Victor: I'm being perfectly up front about my intentions for Jabot.

Nikki: So, you're not trying to steal the company?

Victor: Let me put it this way... there will come a day when Jack Abbott will beg for my help... and I'll give it to him... in exchange for everything he owns.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Sage: That bingo that you know from boarding school -- he's gone, and so is the man that I wanted to help.

Adam: Well, I think we'd be dynamite together, actually.

Jack: It's probably better, though, that you hear it from me.

Stitch: Hear what?

Jack: Kelly's dead.

Stitch: What?
