Episode # 10615 ~ Jack & Victor make a pact; Billy questions Gabriel's plans for Chelsea; Avery talks to Nick about his relationship with Sage.

Provided By Suzanne

Chelsea: Gabriel. Oh, I-I didn't hear you come in.

Adam: Yeah, well, that's, uh -- that's 'cause of all my extensive training as a ninja.

Chelsea: Ah. Well, maybe you should wear a bell around your neck so you can't sneak up on people.

Adam: That's not a bad idea. Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you.

Chelsea: Oh, no. That's okay. You didn't. Um, there's coffee.

Adam: Oh, great. Thank you. Sounds good. I hope, uh -- I hope Sage and I being here isn't an imposition.

Chelsea: Not at all.

Adam: No? Get you a refill?

Chelsea: Um...I-I can get it myself.

Adam: Chelsea, have I -- have I done something to offend you?

Chelsea: No. No. It's just --

Adam: Well, obviously something's wrong, though, right? What is it?

Chelsea: I'm just worried that you may have given Sage the wrong impression. She said something.

Adam: What did she say?

Chelsea: She thinks you have feelings for me.

Kyle: Hey.

Summer: Oh, you -- you stayed.

Kyle: I wasn't gonna leave you alone, not after everything you've been through.

Summer: [Sighs] Um... when did I finally fall asleep?

Kyle: Not long ago. I'm glad you got some rest.

Summer: Yeah. Just wish I never had to wake up.

Kyle: Yeah, okay, well, it's -- it's gonna be okay, Summer.

Summer: I killed Austin, Kyle. How is everything ever gonna be okay again?

Nick: Thank you so much for meeting me.

Avery: Well, it sounded urgent. What's up?

Nick: I got a call from a reporter who works at the chronicle. I guess word's out that the city building inspector found some structural issues with the underground before the storm hit.

Avery: Well, that would be a matter of public record.

Nick: He also said he knows the city threatened to shut me down because I ignored the notices.

Avery: Wait, why did you ignore the notices?

Nick: No, I didn't ignore them. Austin never told me about the inspector's visits.

Avery: Okay, Nick, please tell me that you took care of the repairs.

Nick: Immediately. Once I found out I had some issues, I hired a contractor. I got the place up to code.

Avery: Okay, so it sounds like you did everything right.

Nick: [Sighs] Not right enough. I mean, the bartender derrick, he died. There were a lot of people injured, including my dad. That's all on me.

Kelly: Oh, Ashley.

Ashley: Hi, Kelly. I'm actually late for an appointment.

Kelly: Oh, no. I underst-- uh, this'll just take a minute.

Ashley: Okay. What can I do for you?

Kelly: You can set the record straight. Okay? You know that Jack and I made love the other night when the underground collapsed.

Ashley: You know, I really don't want to get involved in this.

Kelly: I understand. Jack is your brother, and it makes things awkward for you. But he's now denying that it happened, and you know that it's the truth.

Ashley: Well, maybe you should speak with Jack.

Kelly: I did speak with Jack, and he is denying that we ever slept together. He says that he wasn't even in the back room, and now he is saying that I am the one to blame for all the things that Phyllis did. Why would he do that?! Why would he suddenly turn on me?!

Paul: Come on. Just a little teeny bit. Share.

Phyllis: Oh, look who's here. Slow day of crime?

Paul: Oh, keep moving, Phyllis.

Phyllis: Oh, come on. Isn't there some innocent person out there that the two of you should be pursuing?

Christine: Well, we have our hands full with the guilty ones. They make our job easy, actually.

Phyllis: Still the wide-eyed optimist, I see.

Christine: And you're still a delusional bully.

Phyllis: Where have I heard that before? Oh, that's right. The last time you falsely accused me and I went free. Yeah.

Christine: Mm. Well, it's not gonna happen this time, so you should get your latte and enjoy your freedom while you still have it.

Phyllis: I see. I hate to burst your district-attorney bubble, but Kelly's the guilty one.

Christine: No one's buying that one.

Phyllis: Jack does. Victor does. They're working together to prove that I am innocent.

Christine: [Sighs] So that's your ace in the hole? That Jack and Victor are gonna team up and save you? My gosh, they had a moment of good will when they were fighting for their lives. It's not gonna last.

Victor: What the hell is taking them so long to finish the damn paperwork?

Jack: Well, maybe they didn't get the memo that the almighty Victor Newman demands to be released!

Victor: Maybe some of us refuse to be weak, all right? Do you want me to call the nurse to fluff your pillow once more?

Jack: Don't worry. I'll be out that door shortly after you. And I don't what I'll be happier to say goodbye to -- this place or you.

Victor: I assure you the feeling is entirely mutual. But don't you forget that you and I had an agreement to get Phyllis out of trouble.

Jack: Now that my mind is a little less foggy, I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Victor: Wait a minute. You're reneging on our agreement?

Ashley: I don't know what's going on with Jack.

Kelly: Well, something changed his mind. [Chuckles] I mean, he was convinced that Phyllis tried to kill me, and now he thinks I'm the crazy one.

Ashley: Kelly, he's been through a lot -- a horrible ordeal. I mean, a building collapsed on him. He had a concussion. His heart stopped beating. God knows his emotions must be all over the map right now.

Kelly: I don't understand how he could have forgotten that we made love.

Ashley: I don't know what to tell you. I-I do know that he shouldn't have any more stress in his life.

Kelly: I am not trying to hurt him. I love him, Ashley.

Ashley: Okay, well, if that's true, I think you need to stay away from him.

Kelly: All right. I will. If you'll talk to him for me.

Jack: I haven't changed my mind about us working together to help Phyllis.

Victor: Good. I thought the building collapse had knocked whatever sense you have out of you.

Jack: Trust me. If I had any other choice, I wouldn't have anything to do with you.

Victor: My feelings entirely, Jack, okay? Don't you forget, thought, that I'm the only person who can prove that Phyllis is innocent and that Kelly Andrews set her up.

Jack: Gee, nice to know that a near-death experience hasn't diminished your ego.

Victor: Nor my patience. I'm gonna bail out of here.

Jack: Uh, Victor...

Victor: What?

Jack: Do you have a plan to help Phyllis?

Victor: Some ideas.

Jack: Don't do anything till I'm out of here.

Victor: I'll be in touch. I'll tell the nurse to fluff your pillow one more time.

[Door opens, closes]

Jack: I need to see you right now.

Phyllis: I think you're scared. I recognize that look in your eyes. See, you know if Jack and Victor combine their resources, they're gonna crush you in court.

Paul: You know, it's really not that easy for money and power to alter the truth.

Phyllis: Well, see, I'm counting on the truth. And when it comes out, you and your wife are both gonna look incompetent again. What's the matter, Christine? You look pale. The thought of me crushing your career -- that's too much for you?

Christine: You smug narcissistic bitch, I am gonna destroy you in court. I am gonna make you pay for every vicious thing you've ever done.

Phyllis: See, you're married to Paul, but you're still pissed I stole Danny from you.

Christine: Oh, god.

Paul: No, don't let her get to you. It's not good for you and it's not good for the baby.

Phyllis: The baby?

Paul: Yeah. Chris is pregnant, so back off.

Phyllis: Oh. Well, congratulations. You see, I'm the last person you need to worry about, Paul. And I would think if cricket here had any maternal instincts at all, she'd be focusing on her baby and not some personal vendetta.

Christine: You don't think I have maternal instincts?

Phyllis: Well, I've called you a mother a few times over the years, but, you know, being a mom - that's something else.

Christine: This is so rich considering you're here throwing barbs at me when your daughter just lost her husband.

Paul: Chris.

Phyllis: My daughter what?

Avery: We can limit your liability if the contractor you hired did shoddy work.

Nick: That might be possible, but I owed it to my staff and every one of my customers that night that they could be safe in my club.

Avery: Does it run in your family?

Nick: What?

Avery: This refusal to listen. Because your brother has the same problem.

Nick: Is Dylan still blaming himself for accidentally hitting you in the nose when you tried to break up the fight with Joe?

Avery: Yes. No matter how many times I tell him to forget about it.

Nick: Well, I get it. I probably wouldn't be so quick to forgive myself, either.

Avery: Just like you can't forgive yourself for the accident at the club.

Nick: It's hardly the same thing, but I still can't help feeling like this is my fault.

Avery: Okay, I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told Dylan. We all could have died in that collapse and we didn't. We survived. You can't spend the rest of your life living in regret. We have to be grateful for every day we have.

Nick: I am, but whether I meant to or not, I put everyone in my club in danger that night.

Sage: I'm sorry. I don't mean to interrupt. Nick, I hate to hear you take the blame for what happened at the underground.

Billy: Now, why would Sage think that Gabe has feelings for you?

Chelsea: Billy.

Adam: Yeah, I don't know. I was wondering the same...crazy thing myself.

Billy: Maybe it has something to do with all the time you're spending with my girlfriend.

Chelsea: Well, Gabe and I have been spending a lot of time on the marketing for the fall line, and when we haven't been working, I have been trying to help him come up with ways to bring him and Sage closer.

Billy: Sounds like that backfired.

Chelsea: That was not my intention. I am really sorry if I caused any more problems for the two of you.

Adam: You know what? I don't think you did, actually.

Chelsea: What do you mean?

Adam: Well, I think Sage thinking that I have feelings for you might actually be a good thing.

Billy: Okay, so, explain this to me. How does Sage thinking that you're hot for Chelsea fall into the plus column?

Adam: Well, follow me here. The only way she would come up with such a crazy conclusion, uh, is if she was jealous, right?

Billy: A-and that's a good thing?

Adam: Yeah. I mean, she has strong feelings for me. It's what I've been hopeful for.

Chelsea: Right. That she comes to love you as much as you love her.

Adam: Yeah. In fact, for the first time, I feel like I'm actually gonna get what I want out of this marriage.

Billy: And what -- what is that, exactly?

Adam: Uh, that would be a future with the woman that I love.

Chelsea: I am so embarrassed. I shouldn't have assumed that Sage was --

Adam: No, no, no, no. Oh, no, no, no. It's not you. Trust me. Sage has been pretty emotional every since my grandmother died. It's not surprising that you would misconstrue something that she said. Not surprising at all. Let's do this. Um, [Chuckles] Next time Sage comes up with one of her crazy ideas -- crazy notions, let's -- let's come to me, all right? And we'll work it out. I don't want there to be any misunderstandings between us.

Chelsea: No, no.

[Cell phone rings]

Chelsea: Neither do we.

Adam: All right. Good. Excuse me. Take this. Hello? Yeah, I dropped that off for you yesterday. I'm gonna take this.

Chelsea: Sure.

Adam: Yeah.

Chelsea: Of course. [Sighs] Well, that settles that.

Billy: Yeah, I'm not so sure that it does.

Chelsea: Well, why? I mean, Gabe explained what was going on.

Billy: For a long time, I've thought that Bingham was attracted to you, and then Sage says it out loud?

Chelsea: Well, I mean, she's jealous like Gabriel said.

Billy: Or maybe she's just calling it like she sees it.

Sage: I hate to hear you blame yourself for what happened.

Avery: I tried to tell him the collapse isn't his fault.

Nick: You're both a little biased.

Sage: Against mother nature? Yes, because that's who I hold responsible.

Nick: Well, you can point the finger at her or you can blame the contractor who did the repairs or you can even blame god. But the bottom line is it was my responsibility to keep the people in my club safe that night. And I failed.

Sage: Nick, it was a horrible accident.

Nick: If I'd just done more to prevent it from happening... I didn't care enough.

Sage: Okay, that's not true. When the building collapsed, he didn't think about himself. He thought about everybody else. When Dylan found us, you could have left. But you didn't. You were determined to look for survivors. You were willing to risk your life for the people you love and complete strangers because that's who you are. You are someone who cares deeply for others, and I'm not gonna let you think otherwise.

Jack: Thank you both for coming.

Christine: If this has to do with Phyllis --

Jack: I realize you both have issues with her.

Christine: Well, yeah. She tried to kill us, Jack, just like she tried to kill Kelly Andrews.

Jack: She didn't do anything to Kelly.

Paul: Well, that's not what you said before. You claimed that Phyllis was upset because of your relationship with Kelly.

Jack: I made a mistake. Kelly was the one that cooked up this sick scheme with the antifreeze.

Paul: Now, why would Kelly want to poison herself?

Jack: She was desperate to get Phyllis out of my life.

Christine: So, do you have any proof that Kelly's unstable or that she has it in for Phyllis?

Jack: Kelly is now claiming that we had sex in the back room at the underground before the accident.

Paul: And you're saying that's not true?

Jack: Of course it's not.

Christine: So, why would Kelly claim it is?

Jack: That's what I'm worried about. She could be deeply disturbed. Why else would she think she could get away with such a preposterous lie? Unless she believes it herself, in which case, I'm more worried.

Paul: Well, that still doesn't prove that Kelly set up Phyllis for attempted murder.

Jack: If she would lie about that, what else would she lie about? Look, I think my going back to Phyllis has pushed Kelly over the edge.

Christine: And you said the same thing about Phyllis -- that she couldn't deal with your relationship with Kelly and it drove her insane.

Jack: I should never have questioned Phyllis. She knew what Kelly was capable of. Just now, I'm finding out what she knew.

Christine: Okay, right now. Now that the trial is looming. Jack, I am sorry, but I feel like you would say anything to try and save Phyllis. It's not gonna work. This time, she is gonna pay for what she's done.

Phyllis: Hey, baby. Baby. I came as soon as I could. Why didn't you call me or your dad?

Summer: I just -- I don't --

Kyle: Summer knew that you had a lot of other stuff going on. We heard about the building collapse at the underground.

Summer: Yeah. How's Jack and grandpa? Are they okay?

Phyllis: They're fine. They're fine. Your dad's okay, too.

Summer: Does dad know about Austin?

Phyllis: I tried calling him. I-I just kept getting the voicemail. I didn't want to leave him a message.

Summer: [Voice breaking] I just can't believe that this is happening. I mean, Austin and I -- we were just -- we were here at our apartment, and -- and now he's just gone. I should have -- I should have never gone to that cabin. If only I would have known.

Phyllis: Known what? Known what?

Summer: That this is how things were gonna end.

Phyllis: Honey, you -- you had no idea of knowing what was gonna happen.

Kyle: Your mom's right, Summer.

Summer: It doesn't matter now. Austin's gone, and it's because of me. It's my fault.

Phyllis: Why would you say what happened to Austin was your fault?

Kyle: We're all feeling guilty, Phyllis, wondering if there's anything that we could have done differently.

Phyllis: Wait a minute. You were there?

Kyle: Yeah, I arrived after Austin left to find help for Kevin.

Phyllis: Kevin?

Kyle: He was cleaning ice off the roof, and he slipped and fell.

Summer: Yeah, and Courtney tried to call for the paramedics, but the cell service was bad, so...Austin volunteered to go get help, and the...police found him in a wrecked car... dead, so I had to go and identify his body at the morgue.

Phyllis: Baby... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Summer: [Crying] I never even got to say goodbye to him.

Kyle: Well, it's not too late, Summer. We could have a memorial service, give everyone a chance to pay their respects to him.

Summer: I just -- I really don't know if I have the strength to arrange something like that right now.

Phyllis: I'll do it. I will do it, okay? I'll take care of everything.

Summer: You would do that for me? Mom, I know you weren't the biggest fan of Austin's.

Phyllis: Listen to me. I will do whatever it takes to get you through this, all right?

Summer: Okay.

Phyllis: Okay. That's my girl.

Nick: This is getting to be a habit.

Sage: Me butting in on your life?

Nick: No.

Sage: [Chuckles]

Nick: You always, uh, giving me a push when I need it.

Sage: Oh, that I was a bartender at the Valentine's Day party?

Nick: Uh, no, not talking about that, but I did appreciate your silk panties.

Sage: [Laughs]

Nick: No, I'm talking about the pep talk you gave me when we were in the collapse. I felt like I was starting to give up a little bit, and you wouldn't let me.

Sage: That's 'cause I'm bossy. Most guys don't like that.

Avery: Well, Nick's not like most guys.

Sage: I can see that. Well, I'll let you get back to your meeting. It was really nice to see you again, Avery.

Avery: Yes, you, too.

Sage: Bye.

Nick: Bye.

Avery: Huh. I didn't know you two had gotten so close.

Nick: Sage is just a friend.

Avery: Oh, I think it's more than just a friend. Silk panties, Nick?

Chelsea: You are blowing this thing with Gabriel way out of proportion.

Billy: Me? You're the one who brought up Sage accusing him of having feelings for you.

Chelsea: I wasn't thinking. I should have realized how my friendship with Gabriel was affecting her.

Billy: You know, and I'm still not convinced that he's not just trying to con us with this whole story about her being jealous.

Chelsea: You think I can be fooled that easily?

Billy: The guy is pretty smooth.

Chelsea: I don't understand why you always want to see the worst in him. He's -- he's not a bad person.

Billy: You know what? Maybe he's not. But it doesn't strike you as weird how involved in our lives he's gotten?

Chelsea: You were the one who asked them to move in here.

Billy: Yeah, I did, and I'm starting to regret it.

Chelsea: Are you saying you want to kick them out?

Ashley: Jack. I was on my way to see you. I had no idea they were letting you out so soon.

Jack: Yeah. I need to get out of here, okay?

Ashley: Well, hold on a second.

Jack: Look, I had a long night and a particularly long morning. If this could wait till later --

Ashley: No, it actually can't wait, Jack, all right? I saw Kelly.

Jack: I have nothing to say on that topic.

Ashley: Well, I do.

Jack: Okay. Make it quick.

Ashley: So, are you honestly telling me that you don't remember sleeping with Kelly? [Stomps] Because I know you did. You told me so yourself.

Jack: Okay, fine. I slept with Kelly. Is that what you want to hear?

Ashley: What I want to hear is that you're gonna stop lying to her. Do you have any idea what you're doing to that poor woman?

Jack: Do you have any idea what it would do to Phyllis if she found out the truth?

Ashley: Okay, so you're messing with Kelly's head to prevent Phyllis from spinning completely out of control? What the hell are you doing? Are you so afraid that Phyllis is gonna turn to Victor for support that you're gonna use Kelly this way, Jack? Really?

Jack: Actually, I have no problem with Victor. In fact, he and I have worked out an arrangement.

Ashley: What kind of an arrangement, Jack?

Jack: We're gonna work together to clear Phyllis, to make sure that Kelly is found guilty.

Ashley: What the hell are you talking about? Have you forgotten what that man has done to us? He stole my formula, Jack. He has stabbed us in the back more times --

Jack: Victor and I have been through a lot together. When that building collapsed, we shared something. That changes people.

Ashley: So now you and Victor are allies?

Jack: Let's just say we're not enemies.

Kelly: And what can I do for you, Mr. Newman?

Victor: I'm here to warn you.

Kelly: Really?

Victor: Yeah.

Kelly: How did I get in the crosshairs of the great and powerful Victor Newman?

Victor: You're not in my crosshairs, okay? But your former lover is coming after you.

Kelly: Jack?

Victor: Uh-huh. He's determined to turn the case against Phyllis around and have you brought up on charges.

Kelly: There's no evidence to prove that I have done anything wrong.

Victor: Powerful men have a way of making evidence where there is none.

Kelly: Speaking from experience?

Victor: I'm not a bad man to have on your side.

Kelly: Mm-hmm. So I've heard. From Phyllis. She told me you and Jack have teamed up to help her. I know. So who are you playing, me or Phyllis?

Victor: Neither.

Kelly: So, what, is Phyllis lying? I mean, not that I would put it past her.

Victor: No, no. She told the truth.

Kelly: So, what's going on here? Are you trying to help both of us?

Victor: My interest is to get Jack Abbott away from Phyllis, okay, who is the mother of my granddaughter. And once that is accomplished, then I think it'll serve me, you, and, in the end, Phyllis.

Kelly: And you want me to help you achieve that goal. How?

Victor: I'm glad you asked.

Victor: So? What do you think?

Kelly: It's a little extreme.

Victor: All that matters is that it'll work, and it will if you do your part.

Kelly: In exchange for what?

Victor: [Chuckles] A favor.

Kelly: Do I get to know what that is?

Victor: Oh, no. Not yet. Mnh-mnh.

Kelly: [Sighs] Okay, let me get this straight. This is how it works. You call the shots, and I do what you say. [Chuckling] Is that it?

Victor: Are you in?

Kelly: As long as I get Jack.

Victor: I'll be in touch.

Kelly: Victor...

Victor: Mm-hmm?

Kelly: How do I know I can trust you?

Victor: You don't.

Kelly: [Sighs]

Paul: You know, uh, maybe I should have another talk with Kelly Andrews.

Christine: Why?

Paul: Well, to see if what Jack said has any merit.

Christine: Oh, come on. Jack is desperate. He knows we're finally gonna make Phyllis pay for what she's done. He'll say whatever he has to to save her.

Paul: Yeah, but if she's innocent --

Christine: [Scoffs] She's not.

Paul: Chris, we need to check out every angle or the whole case could fall apart.

Christine: Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Paul, I am not gonna let her get away with this. I will take on whoever I have to, including you, to make sure she ends up behind bars.

Paul: We are on the same side here. I want to make sure your case is rock-solid.

Christine: It is. I've got work to do.

Paul: Oh, boy.

Avery: You need to get that?

Nick: No, it's Phyllis. I can call her back.

Avery: Mm. How do you think Sage will deal with all your exes if the two of you get involved?

Nick: [Chuckles] What, you think I'm gonna chase her off?

Avery: So, this is more than a friendship between the two of you.

Nick: It's...complicated.

Avery: Ooh, isn't that the definition of a relationship?

Nick: Relation-- I never -- it's not a relation--

Avery: No?

Nick: No.

Avery: Okay, then what is it?

Nick: It's... she's cool and she makes me laugh and I look forward to seeing her. And I don't really know what it is.

Avery: Okay, well, whatever it is, it's obviously making you happy. I'm glad. You deserve it. But this could make things difficult with Sharon.

Nick: Right. Especially considering, uh...

Avery: What?

Nick: Uh...Sage's personal life is complicated, too.

Avery: How so? Look, whatever you say stays between us.

Nick: She's married.

Avery: Nick.

Nick: It's not -- it's not a real marriage.

Avery: Okay...

Nick: I mean, it is -- it's real. It's just --

Avery: Let me guess -- it's complicated.

Nick: Yes. She married someone to help her friend out, so it's not what you're thinking.

Avery: I'm thinking this can't possibly end well.

Adam: Question for you -- what the hell were you thinking telling Chelsea that I had feelings for her?

Sage: She wouldn't shut up about how much you loved me. It slipped out.

Adam: Well, I had to come up with an excuse on the spot to cover your slip.

Sage: Well, your whole life's a lie, Gabe. What's one more?

Adam: I could have lost everything. Do you understand that? Now, I'm warning you, if you do that again...

Sage: What?

Adam: If you do that again, you're gonna regret it.

Sage: Look, Gabe, Adam, whatever the hell your name is, just because Chelsea isn't falling for you, don't take it out on me.

Adam: Don't you ever do that again.

Sage: You go to hell.

Adam: Jack, hey. You're back from the hospital. I didn't know that. This is great news.

Jack: Save the pleasantries, Adam. What are you and your fake girlfriend doing here?

Adam: Well, that is actually my -- my fake wife. And your brother, Billy, invited us to stay here.

Kyle: Did you call Nick?

Phyllis: I left a message for him and Avery.

Kyle: And what about my dad?

Phyllis: He just texted me and said that he was released from the hospital, so, um...I will head home after this, and I'll tell him then.

Kyle: Okay, good. It's probably to do it in person. It's kind of shocking news.

Phyllis: I still can't believe it. You know, I-I didn't like Austin for Summer, but, I mean, this -- he had his whole life ahead of him. It's just...

Kyle: It sucks.

Phyllis: Yeah. Funny -- you showing up just when Summer needs a shoulder to cry on.

Kyle: Good timing on my part.

Phyllis: Is that all it is?

Kyle: What do you mean?

Phyllis: You were Summer's first love, the love of her life. The only reason the two of you broke up was 'cause you couldn't be together.

Kyle: And then she met Austin and fell in love with him.

Phyllis: Yes. She met Austin and she rushed right into that marriage. But then she found out there was no reason the two of you couldn't be together. That was just a few months ago.

Kyle: I'm sure I don't know what you're implying, Phyllis, but I only arrived in Genoa city a couple of days ago. I haven't seen Summer in over a year.

Phyllis: You didn't text her? You didn't call her? Nothing?

Kyle: Your daughter took her wedding vows seriously, was completely faithful to her husband. She treated him better than he deserved.

Phyllis: I agree with that. Austin was never nearly good enough for my daughter, but... you know, sometimes people get in over their heads. They can't admit they made a mistake no matter how much it costs them.

Paul: Hey, Kelly. Mind if I come in?

Kelly: Chief Williams. Please come in.

Paul: I'm here about the case against Phyllis.

Kelly: Oh. Did Jack suggest you talk to me?

Paul: I just want to make sure we have all our bases covered.

Kelly: Meaning you're not sure that it was Phyllis who tried to poison me. How does your wife feel about that?

Paul: She wants what I want -- the truth. Now, if I can ask you a few questions...

Kelly: Let me ask you one first. Why would I hurt myself?

Paul: Well, um...what better way to get Jack back than to frame Phyllis for trying to kill you?

Kelly: No man is worth that, not even Jack.

Paul: Then you won't mind talking to me about the day you were poisoned.

Jack: So, you're saying it was Billy's idea for you and Sage to move in to this house?

Adam: Yeah. Yeah, he's thankful to me for saving his worthless life.

Jack: You should have turned down his offer.

Adam: No. No, to staying under the same roof as my wife and my son? I don't think so.

Jack: Oh, you really still think you're gonna win her back?

Adam: I do. I do. And your brother's actually making it easier on me.

Jack: Don't underestimate Billy.

Adam: He's practically handing me my family on a silver platter.

Jack: I would not take his invitation at face value if I were you. He has been asking questions since you came to town. You keep jumping in his face, he's gonna figure out who you are.

Adam: We're talking about Billy here, right? I mean, [Chuckles] The guy couldn't figure out how to throw a toga party in a frat house, Jack.

Jack: I think I liked you better dead.

Adam: Good. Good, okay. Then you just keep pretending that I am dead. Everything will turn out the way it's supposed to. Good?

Jack: Yeah.

Billy: No, I'm not gonna kick Gabe and Sage out. I mean, the guy did save my life. That's worth a few nights of free room and board.

Chelsea: Billy, what are you up to?

Billy: Nothing. Since he's staying with us, I figured I'd take advantage of the situation and get to know him a little bit better.

Chelsea: The guy risked his life for you. Doesn't that tell you all you need to know about him?

Billy: Well, you'd like to think so, but for me, it just raises more questions.

Chelsea: It's still bugging you, isn't it -- what he said when he went in to save you, that now you're even?

Billy: I got to know what that meant.

Avery: I won't lie. Your friendship with Sage worries me.

Nick: [Chuckles] Well, what would you like me to do? Unfriend her?

Avery: Nick, if Sharon finds out that you're seeing a married woman, even if it isn't a real marriage, she could take you back to court. She could reopen faith's custody case.

Nick: What are you saying?

Avery: I'm saying you need to decide what's most important to you.

Nick: Faith always comes first with me. You know that.

Avery: Then be careful, Nick.

Chelsea: Maybe all there is to Gabe is what we see -- a guy who's pretty much alone in the world who's trying to connect with people.

Billy: [Sighs] I was a gambler, Chelsea, and a pretty darn good one. I got good at reading people, you know, their eyes, their tells.

Chelsea: Okay. And what subconscious signals is Gabriel sending you?

Billy: That he's bluffing. I mean, even when he's being nice, there's this undercurrent of...bitterness and resentment.

Chelsea: I don't get that at all.

Billy: [Chuckles] I'm sure you don't.

Chelsea: Well, maybe if you hadn't been so hard on the guy from the very beginning.

Billy: Oh, he's the one who came in with all the attitude.

Chelsea: Okay. Maybe he did. But...I'm just saying -- try to remember he saved your life.

Billy: Yeah, I remember. But I just can't shake this feeling that a part of him wanted to leave me to die in that building.

Sage: I told Gabe that we shouldn't have accepted Billy's invitation without checking with you first.

Adam: That's nonsense. Jack doesn't mind, do you?

Phyllis: Jack? Oh. I didn't realize we had guests.

Jack: Th-th-that's all right. Uh, you remember, uh, Gabriel Bingham from Jabot.

Phyllis: Yes, of course.

Jack: This is his wife, Sage. They live across the hall from Billy and Chelsea and their apartment was also damaged during the fire. They're going to stay here while it's being repaired.

Phyllis: Okay. Uh, I need to speak to you.

Adam: Tell you what -- we're gonna give you guys a little time to do that in private.

Sage: Yeah.

Adam: Let's go.

Sage: Okay.

Adam: All right. Thanks.

Jack: So, what is it? What's going on?

Phyllis: Austin's dead.

Jack: What do you mean? Austin's...

Phyllis: Baby, Summer's a wreck. I-I don't know how she's going to survive this.

Summer: [Crying]

Summer: Austin. Austin. Austin, Austin, wake up! Please! Please wake up! Please! Please! Wake up! Austin, wake up! Wake up! Austin! Wake up! Please!

Kyle: Wake up. Summer, wake up. Wake up. Hey.

Summer: [Breathing heavily]

Kyle: Hey, hey, it's okay. It's okay. It's okay.

Summer: [Crying] No, it's not okay, Kyle. I'm asleep, I'm awake, and all I see is Austin dead with blood pouring out of his head. I can't get the image out of my mind. I can't do it.

Kyle: Hey, hey.

Summer: I can't do it.

Kyle: Come here. Come here. It's okay.

Summer: I just don't understand how this happened.

Kyle: It's all right. It's okay. Shh.

Kelly: Look, I've already given you my statement, and I stand by it.

Paul: So, you're not gonna answer my questions?

Kelly: I've already given you all the information that I have on this case. As long as you don't let Jack cloud your judgment, justice will be served.

Paul: Oh, wow. You seem awfully confident.

Kelly: Because I am. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a lot of work to do.

Ashley: Victor. What's going on with you and my brother, Jack?

Victor: First of all, good morning and how nice to see you.

Ashley: Please answer my question. He says the two of you are working together to prove that Phyllis is innocent and that Kelly poisoned herself.

Victor: Oh. Well, it so happens that he and I both are interested in Phyllis' well-being, so our mutual concern for her brought us together.

Ashley: Right, well, Jack's acting like the two of you are buddies, and that's not him. So what's really going on?

Victor: Well, you, of course, have heard that I saved his life. That caused him to change his attitude, I think.

Ashley: Well, you know, I could understand if he was grateful to you and maybe indebted, but your friend? No.

Victor: You know, he was close to death. And that brought about a change. I mean, it's -- it's -- I can see it in him. I think eventually you and everyone else will see the same thing.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Summer: I have to watch this. My husband made this for me the day that he died.

Austin: What I really need to give you is an apology.

Christine: This is about us and this is about our marriage and this is about your undying loyalty to Nikki.
