Episode # 10548 ~ Phyllis shakes things up at Jabot, Chelsea worries about her future with Billy, & Mariah opens up to Kevin about her past.

Provided By Suzanne

Chelsea: What are you still doing here?

Billy: Oh, I forgot something.

Chelsea: Where were you guys headed?

Chelsea: To the kitchen for a snack. What are you hiding?

Billy: No, it's --

Chelsea: Is it for me? What, an early Christmas present?

Billy: [Sighs] It's these.

Chelsea: Oh. Cute. [Chuckles] The proud dad is gonna hand those out at Jabot today?

Billy: It's a stupid tradition. I wouldn't do it otherwise.

Chelsea: No! Don't be silly! Your family is thrilled that Victoria's baby turned out to be yours, as they should be -- as you should be.

Billy: What about you?

Chelsea: Me? I -- [Chuckles] You have an amazing daughter. It would be weird if you weren't celebrating. I mean, Billy, you just had a baby! What? What is it?

Billy: I'm sorry, Chels. It's just...it's not fair what I'm doing to you.

Phyllis: But I want my old job back. You and I both know --

Jack: Phyllis, you can't -- damn it! You can't expect me to go back on every commitment I made while you were gone!

Phyllis: What other commitments did you make?

Jack: Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone off on you like that.

Phyllis: And why did you?

Jack: I-I got a lot going on right now.

Phyllis: I know. And I'm a real complication.

Jack: No, you're not a complication.

Phyllis: Let's just face it, Jack -- life went on without me. Commitments were made. And now I'm back. I'm disrupting the whole new order.

Jack: You're not disrupting anything, and you have nothing to apologize for.

Phyllis: Oh. Did that sound like I was apologizing?

Jack: Well, yeah, I --

Phyllis: I wasn't. Hang on, baby. I'm just getting started.

Sharon: Faith, do you want me to play with you? Do you want to play outside? You should be enjoying yourself. It's not that often you get the afternoon without homework. Tell me what you want to do.

Faith: I don't want to go between houses.

Sharon: Well, your daddy and I talked to you about that. We both love you so much. And you have your beautiful room at your daddy's house, and you have your room here, and it's just the best, isn't it? And you'll always be surrounded by your own things. It'll work out fine, just like when we did it before, okay? [Sighs] Sweetie, tell me what's bothering you.

Faith: I don't understand why daddy's so mad at you.

Noah: A bear trap?

Nick: Yeah.

Noah: Where did that come from?

Nick: I don't know -- poachers, I guess. It must have been out there for quite a while. It was pretty rusty.

Noah: How's your leg?

Nick: It's all right. It's not broken. I got lucky.

Noah: Yeah. Stepping on an old, illegally placed bear trap is not my idea of luck.

Nick: Could have been a lot worse. I mean, I was out there trapped all night in that relic. I could have froze to death.

Noah: What about your phone, dad? What, you couldn't call anybody?

Nick: You know, I didn't have it on me. I'd, uh, had a couple.

Noah: Gotcha. So, who found you? How'd you get out?

Nick: An angel of mercy.

Sage: I'm worried about your brother.

Adam: Nick's gonna be fine.

Sage: How do you know that?

Adam: Because, you know, nick's led a charmed life.

Sage: His injuries could be serious, all right? I think I should call the hospital.

Adam: Just let it go. Excuse me. That wasn't a request. I'm not gonna let you ruin my plan.

Kevin: You don't want to do that.

Mariah: I'm allowed to take a coffee break if I want to. If you keep looking at me like that, I'm gonna make you pay for that cup of coffee. Okay, fine. I give up. What is it you are so sure that I don't want to do?

Kevin: You don't want to start a war with Summer.

Mariah: Over Austin? He's married. I'm not about to --

Kevin: No! Over the whole custody issue with faith/

Mariah: [Sighs] I can't help it, Kevin. She keeps getting in my face and trashing Sharon and then praising nick, who, by the way, isn't all that.

Kevin: Isn't all that what?

Mariah: All that great at the dad thing.

Kevin: Come on. Nick is a great dad.

Mariah: Okay. Fine. I will give him that. But he's no greater than Sharon at being a parent to faith, which is my point.

Kevin: So, you fighting with Summer about all that accomplishes what?

Mariah: Not a damn thing, which is what sucks. This whole thing sucks, and especially this Christmas --

Kevin: Let me guess -- it sucks.

Mariah: Yes. I mean, you get it, right -- how depressing it is?

Kevin: Oh, yeah. I mean, the way it starts before Halloween?

Mariah: Yeah. What's up with that?

Kevin: And the bouncy music with the sleighs and the joy and the jingling.

Mariah: Yeah, and that poor thing with the allergies. It kills me.

Kevin: What allergies?

Mariah: The -- the reindeer.

Kevin: Rudolph?!

Mariah: Hello! Red nose! You think Santa would clue in to the fact that he had allergies or at least a very bad cold.

Kevin: Well, but, I mean, it is the north pole, right?

Mariah: Exactly, but, no, no, Santa can't give him a break. Instead, he's got to use him to haul his fat but and a gazillion toys all over the planet in one night.

Kevin: I'm gonna guess that you didn't have any of that stuff growing up.

Mariah: No. In the path, December 25th is just like any other day -- another chance to worship at the altar that was Ian ward. And my mother -- well, the woman who I thought was my mother --

Kevin: Helen?

Mariah: Yeah. She got squirrelly around me during this time of year.

Kevin: Squirrellier than usual?

Mariah: Off the charts. It was like there was something she thought that she should be doing, but she didn't know what.

Kevin: Well, she was supposed to be trimming a tree and getting you a couple of gifts.

Mariah: Well, she never did that. The whole time, it was like she was playing a part but she didn't know the lines, which, if I think about it now, was Helen up, down, and sideways.

Kevin: I'm sorry you missed out on all that good stuff.

Mariah: Missed? No, no, no. I escaped. You think I wish I had grown up being force-fed stories about some weird guy watching me all year and then giving toys to only the nice kids?

Kevin: Well, I guess it does seem kind of forced -- and relentless. And the magic is definitely gone now.

Mariah: Magic?

Kevin: I don't mean from when I was a kid, 'cause my dad didn't do the holidays, either, but [Sighs] -- But Delia... getting to see her face when she got to see that tree decked for the first time, it was like... and the joy -- oh, man. I mean, it got through, even to a cynic like me. [Chuckles]

Mariah: Well, she was lucky to have you -- someone who wanted her to feel that magic.

Kevin: Yeah.

Mariah: I-I've got to work. [Chuckles]

Sharon: Your daddy -- he has a good reason to be angry at me. I-I've made some mistakes.

Faith: Daddy always says you should forgive people.

Sharon: That's true.

Faith: So, then just say you're sorry.

Sharon: I did, but sometimes that's just not enough. Faith, do you remember the time when you took Summer's diary and you lied about it? Okay. Well, you said you were sorry, and I believed you meant it, but I still had to punish you.

Faith: So, daddy's punishing you?

Sharon: Oh, sweetie.

Noah: So, this mystery woman -- did she, uh, have a name?

Nick: You know, I didn't ask. I was too busy screaming in pain.

Noah: Well, what did she look like? Maybe I can track her down and thank her. What is that?

Nick: It's from your mother's attorney.

Noah: It looks official.

Nick: Yeah. She's decided to fight me on my bid for full custody of faith, so she filed a countersuit.

Noah: Well, I didn't know about any of this. What --

Nick: I cannot believe Sharon wants to turn this into an ugly battle.

Noah: An ugly battle? Dad, what did you think she was gonna do? Did you seriously expect mom to just -- to give up her daughter without a fight?

Sage: Let go.

Adam: I can't believe me returning to my family depends on a 300-year-old woman who hates me and a dog that hates me even more.

Sage: I don't think that Bugatti hates you.

Adam: [Sighs] That mongrel is the one that led you to that injured guy in the woods who turned out to be - surprise, surprise -- my brother nick.

Sage: Well, it was a stroke of luck that we found your brother.

Adam: A stroke of incredibly bad luck that you found my brother.

Sage: What's the matter with you?! He is your brother -- your brother! Who knows how long he could have survived out there or bad his injuries were?! I need to call and check on him.

Adam: No, listen -- you already called for somebody, all right? You've done enough. He's gonna be fine. Trust me. I'm sure my dad's already flown in doctors from Switzerland or Sweden or wherever the hell he gets his specialists from nowadays. They've probably built him a bionic leg by now. Wouldn't surprise me if my father's hired a troubadour to write a folk song about the day that nick was rescued from the bear trap.

Sage: You know, it's strange seeing another man's reaction on Gabriel's face. It's very unfamiliar.

Adam: Really?

Sage: Yeah.

Adam: Frustration? Are you trying to tell me that Gabriel's never been annoyed before?

Sage: Oh, no, no. Absolutely.

Adam: Really? Okay. Then what is it that's so unfamiliar that you're seeing, huh?

Sage: Fear.

Billy: I was trying to sneak out of here with these cigars.

Chelsea: You thought I'd be upset?

Billy: As if you couldn't handle me wanting to share this with my family and being happy that I'm a dad again.

Chelsea: Have I done anything to make you think that way?

Billy: No. No. See, that's the thing, Chels -- you haven't done anything. You've been great through all of this. I've been the one who's acting like I've got something to hide, which I don't.

Chelsea: No, you don't, so then why are you acting that way?

Billy: It's Abby. She's got this misguided notion about Victoria and me -- that we're destined to be together, especially now that we know that the baby is mine. She was yapping about it the other day, and I-I just thought that --

Chelsea: You thought maybe I felt the same way as Abby?

Billy: Which you don't, obviously. I mean, you -- you don't, right?

Chelsea: No, I-I don't, but now that the baby's here, it --

Billy: It's just gonna add fuel to Abby's fire, and other people might start chiming in.

Chelsea: And how are you gonna handle that, Billy?

Billy: By being unfailingly honest with you.

Chelsea: Can you do that?

Billy: You make me want to try.

Chelsea: Look, you don't have to bend over backwards to reassure me or censor yourself or disguise how happy you are. I mean, don't you know I am so, so truly happy for you? Come on. Here you go.

Billy: [Chuckles] Okay. All right. So, this is us not getting drawn into other people's garbage, especially Abby's?

Chelsea: Especially Abby's.

Billy: All right.

Chelsea: Katherine rose. That's a beautiful name.

Billy: Chels...

Chelsea: Go. Take these cigars and hand them out. Bye. [Sighs]

Adam: That's -- that's hilarious. You think I'm afraid of my brother nick?

Sage: Well, of course. You were spooked when we found him. You won't even let me call to check on him.

Adam: Well, yeah. That's because I've gone to great lengths to reclaim my life, sage.

Sage: Why do you want to reclaim a life when you're afraid that your own brother might recognize you?!

Adam: I'm not afraid of anything!

Sage: He's your brother! Doesn't he love you or at least like you?!

Adam: If you only knew.

Sage: If I only knew? There are apparently a lot of things I don't know. Why don't you fill me in?

Adam: Because my past is of no consequence.

Sage: But your brother's life is, right? Don't you even care if he's all right? Don't you even think that there might be a complication from the injury? What?!

Adam: Let it go.

Sage: No. There is obviously bad blood here. What the hell did he do to you?

Adam: You want to know what he did that was so bad? You want to know what my perfect brother did? He did everything right -- that's what he did. He could do no wrong. He was the guy that my father wanted to join the family business. He begged him to come back, even though he had no talent for it, clearly didn't have the stomach for it! Who cares?!

Sage: Well, what part of that don't you like -- the fact that your dad wanted him to have it or that he didn't want to have any part of it?!

Adam: No, I think it's great, sage! I think it's wonderful, and I wish them both just the best of luck, you know?

Sage: Look, if you want me to keep your secrets here, you've got to start filling me --

Adam: Your questions about my relationship with my brother are insignificant.

Sage: How do you figure that?

Adam: And they're counterproductive.

Sage: All right. How do you figure that?!

Adam: Your job --

Sage: No, my job is to run the house here! You are not my employer! You do not tell me what my responsibilities are!

Adam: I expect you to do exactly what you've agreed to do and what you've chosen to do, which is tell me everything there is to know about being Gabriel Bingham.

Phyllis: I hate this feeling. You know, I close my eyes for what I thought was a few hours, and then I woke up a year later in this extremely strange land.

Jack: Hey, some things haven't changed.

Phyllis: Everything has changed, Jack. Even the people I trusted and counted on weren't honest with me.

Jack: Remember, the doctors recommended that we --

Phyllis: I'm not blaming you for the things you've withheld or being sensitive about how my comeback is affecting other people you care about.

Jack: Other people?

Phyllis: Like Billy.

Jack: Oh.

Phyllis: You're standing up for your brother, and that's one of the many, many things I love about you.

Jack: Well, good. Then you understand.

Phyllis: Oh, yes, I do understand, but I need you to understand that I am well enough and strong enough to start seizing control of my life. That is what I'm doing here, and if it makes people uncomfortable --

Jack: You've never let that get in your way in the past. What if I were to suggest a way, though, that you could re-enter the workforce in a way that would be beneficial to everyone involved?

Billy: Hey! Cigars all around.

Jack: Hey, hey, hey, hey! There's the proud papa! Congratulations!

Phyllis: Congratulations, Billy. You and Victoria must be so excited.

Billy: Oh, we are.

Phyllis: How's Victoria?

Jack: How's the baby? I saw pictures. She is gorgeous.

Billy: Yeah. Yeah. She is. Mother and child are doing great.

Jack: What are you doing here? You don't have to be at work.

Billy: Well, I know, but the baby was with Victoria, and I thought I'd put in a few hours.

Phyllis: Thank you. Well, you know what? You are gonna have a lot of time to spend with your precious bundle. I'm taking my job back.

Billy: [Chuckles nervously) how are you?

Chelsea: Good! How are you?

Chelsea: Hey!

Kevin: Hey! How are you?

Chelsea: Good! How are you?

Kevin: Good.

Chelsea: Hi.

Kevin: Hey. Well, I hope you have GPS on this stroller.

Chelsea: Why's that?

Kevin: Well, according to the sign, there are miles and miles of Christmas trees.

Chelsea: Aww. That's just hype. You look happy.

Kevin: Yeah. Yeah. I was, um -- I was laughing this morning and thinking, "wow, it's been a while."

Chelsea: Yeah. The holidays can be hard.

Kevin: Missing people -- blah. I don't have to tell you about that.

Chelsea: Well, all we can do is move forward, right?

Kevin: Yeah. And you are the perfect example of exactly how to do that. So, is Billy gonna come and meet you and cut a tree -- do all that?

Chelsea: Uh, oh. I-I guess you haven't heard. Victoria's baby turned out to be Billy's. She had a little girl.

Kevin: Oh, wow!

Chelsea: Yeah -- Katherine rose.

Kevin: [Chuckles] Delia's favorite flower. Wow. Billy must be --

Chelsea: Yeah, he's -- he's over the moon. He's handing out candy cigars. [Chuckles]

Kevin: What a difference a year makes -- right? -- For some of us.

Chelsea: I'm happy for Billy. And we're fine. We really are.

Billy: And when did you decide this, Jack?

Jack: I didn't.

Phyllis: There was nothing to decide.

Jack: You know what? We can all sit down and --

Phyllis: R&d was my department, and it's not as if I decided to leave.

Jack: No, everyone understands this was beyond your control.

Phyllis: And I am taking back what was taken from me.

Billy: I'm sorry -- taken from you?

Jack: That is not the situation. Billy did that as a favor to me.

Phyllis: And that was very generous of you, so consider your favor fulfilled. I am thanking you.

Billy: Wait a minute.

Jack: You know what? This is a very complicated situation. All of us need to sit down and work through --

Phyllis: It's pretty straightforward. What exactly did you expect, Billy?

Billy: Phyllis, I know that you've been trying to put your life back together, but you're not the only one. It's not like I've been sitting around here collecting a paycheck.

Jack: What this job meant to Billy -- his dedication to it -- has been a major asset for Jabot.

Billy: And this is my family's company.

Phyllis: Which is why you were tapped to fill in.

Billy: I was offered the job because I'm good at it.

Phyllis: Yes, you are very good at it, and we're gonna find you something else.

Billy: I have been developing this department.

Phyllis: Which will give me a lot to work with, and I appreciate it very much.

Jack: [Whistles]

Noah: I understand that you're upset with mom and you're hurt.

Nick: And I have good reason to be.

Noah: But haven't you always told me that, no matter what, you would work with mom to do what's best for faith?

Nick: This is what's best.

Noah: But taking her away from her mother, dad -- for what, payback?

Nick: This isn't about getting back at Sharon. This is about faith and doing what is best for her.

Noah: Do you really believe that?

Nick: Yeah, I do.

Noah: I get that mom lied. I do. I get it.

Nick: Son, it's not just about Sharon lying. It is the number of people she hurt in the process and how long those lies dragged on.

Noah: She was sick, dad, and she warned you. How many times did she warn you that she was afraid of hurting you?

Nick: She was right.

Noah: But you were the one that said that that didn't matter, that you wanted to be with her no matter what, that you loved her that much.

Nick: And that is why this is so hard -- because I believed Sharon. But now I don't know. I mean, how much of it was the sickness and how much of it was just perpetuating these lies that cost me my daughter?

Noah: What if it was all the sickness?

Nick: Well, then she was unwilling or unable to get the help that she needed.

Noah: Like a person having a seizure or a stroke?

Nick: She didn't stay on her meds. What is to keep her from doing that again while faith is in the house?

Noah: Mom's prepared now. So are we.

Nick: Look, Noah, there comes a time in your life when you have to do what is best for you and your family, and I need to protect my family, and that's what I'm doing. I'm protecting faith from her mother.

Sharon: Your daddy's not trying to punish me. You know, we may disagree or get angry with each other -- sometimes grown-ups do that -- but we're still a family, and we --

Mariah: Yup! That means you're stuck with us, squirt. Come here. Did you forget that it was you and I this afternoon, huh? Do you know what we're gonna be doing? Dress-up! We're gonna be rocking the steampunk look in honor of the holidays, so I want you to run upstairs and I want you to get all the leather and belts and buckles and scarves that you can find, okay?

Faith: Okay.

Mariah: Scram.

Sharon: Thank you for that. I'm so glad faith has you.

Mariah: Well, I'm here now. You can head off to your Jabot gig.

Sharon: Um, actually, I won't need you to babysit. I was just about to call them and cancel.

Mariah: Why?

Sharon: I don't think I can deal with it.

Mariah: Oh, I see. So, you want nick to get full custody of faith?

Jack: Yelling isn't going to get us anywhere. I believe we can come up with a mutually agreeable solution.

Billy: Look, Phyllis, I didn't mean to go off on you. This job -- Jack asked me to step up when I had something I had to prove.

Phyllis: To Victoria, after you slept with Kelly?

Jack: [Sighs]

Billy: It's even more important that I keep working now that I know that the baby is mine, to show that I meant all those promises that I made -- that I can be the father that Johnny and little Katie deserve.

Jack: Your ability to be a great father was never in question.

Phyllis: Just how faithful you could be to the woman you love.

Jack: [Sighs]

Billy: Yeah. You know what? That, too, all right? So, Jack, I'm willing to step aside. Whatever.

Jack: Okay. That's a possible solution. Phyllis can head up r&d, and you can head up the fashion division.

Billy: Fashion? Have you -- have you run that by Neil?

Jack: Actually, Neil brought it to me. He thinks we should hire a replacement that's more on a permanent basis until he can come back, and I said I would do it for the sake of the company.

Billy: Okay, but what happens if Neil gets better?

Jack: We'll rethink things.

Phyllis: Neil is a valuable asset.

Jack: Yes, and he will work with the new head of fashion. I did not agree with him that you were the best option, though. I actually had someone else in mind -- someone with style, taste, and flair and tons of energy. But if you'd rather sit behind a desk --

Phyllis: Jack... do you really think it is that easy to manage me?

Mariah: No. I get it. GC buzz broke the story about how you were there the night that Phyllis took her tumble down the stairs.

Sharon: That story was lacking facts.

Mariah: But it was full of nasty innuendos. And when you show up at work today, people are gonna stare. People are gonna be talking behind your back, especially those airheaded models -- no offense to nick's daughter. Well, actually, Summer is pretty offensive. You know, she thinks that you don't deserve to raise her little sister, and right now, you are proving her and nick right.

Sharon: That's not true.

Mariah: You would let your daughter be taken away from you, cut out from your life, because you don't want to get your feelings hurt, because you'd rather hole up and lick your wounds?

Sharon: That's not what I'm doing.

Mariah: You fought for me when I didn't even want you to. You bailed me out, offered me help, when I told you that I hated your guts, and no matter how much nasty stuff I threw your way, you took it, Sharon. You wouldn't let me chase you away. And if nothing else, I have to respect you for that, and now... that little girl up there -- she worships you. She doesn't need you to be perfect. She needs you to show up. She needs you to be her mom.

Noah: Dad, do you really think that you need to protect faith from mom?

Nick: I defended Sharon to your grandfather and everyone else. I kept telling everyone that they were wrong about her. But I was the one who was wrong the whole time.

Noah: Dad, please don't do this. I've seen how mom is suffering.

Nick: You saw her today?

Noah: Mariah and I had thanksgiving with her. Look, I was hoping that you'd go out in the woods, be by yourself, and that maybe you'd gain some perspective.

Nick: [Chuckles] I had several perspectives from the various women in my life. The night of the accident, I had this strange dream. It was like this crazy movie playing out in my head -- all the different relationships I've ever had, how they'd gone wrong. What became clear was the part I played.

Noah: What do you mean?

Nick: With your mother, all the signs were there. I just didn't want to see them. I had all these expectations. They all fell apart, but it was clear. I mean, it was my fault, too.

Noah: Then you walked in to a bear trap. How did that woman get you out?

Nick: You know... I think there was this guy there, too. I can't be sure about the guy, but I know the woman was there.

Noah: Angel of mercy?

Nick: Yeah. She took off before I had a chance to get her name. I need to find her. I want to thank her.

Noah: Why don't you get some sleep first, all right? And think. You have more important things to worry about.

Nick: Okay. Thanks, dude.

Noah: Yeah. See you, dad.

Nick: See you.

Sage: Hey.

Adam: Hey.

Sage: Constance was asking for you. She's having a bad day.

Adam: All right. Well, you know, you're gonna have to come up with some excuse why I'm unavailable today. I'm not doing that.

Sage: Where are you going?

Adam: My brother, the do-gooder -- he's gonna call the cops.

Sage: So what? About some idiot who set a bear trap? That's nothing to do with us.

Adam: No. They're gonna come here, sage. They're gonna start asking questions. They're gonna nose around. They're gonna get suspicious.

Sage: Are you afraid of a couple questions?

Adam: It's an unnecessary risk, you know? You never know what they're gonna intuit, what questions they're gonna ask. The dog could turn me in. It's just a risk we don't need to take.

Sage: So, you're just gonna go?

Adam: It's time.

Mariah: Hey! Lookin' good!

Sharon: Thanks for what you said earlier.

Noah: Wow! Nicely done, mom!

Sharon: Thank you.

Noah: I just wanted to let you know that dad's back.

Mariah: Would it have broken his arm to call her himself?

Noah: Right. Well, he was in the hospital.

Sharon: What?! Is he --

Noah: Oh, yeah -- treated and released. His leg got snagged by a bear trap.

Sharon: Oh, my God!

Mariah: [Laughing] Who does that?

Noah: Right. Well, uh, he had a pretty rough night, but he's gonna be fine.

Sharon: Are you sure?

Noah: Yeah. I just wanted to let you know why he wasn't in touch. I was hoping that some time away would give him some perspective.

Sharon: Do you think he might reconsider this custody fight?

Noah: I'm hoping that it doesn't come to that.

Sharon: What did he say exactly?

Mariah: Hey, what time do you have to be at Jabot?

Sharon: Um... oh, I should get going.

Mariah: You're gonna kill it.

Sharon: I hope so!

Mariah: [Chuckles]

Noah: Good luck.

Sharon: Bye!

Mariah: Bye. Good luck! I walked in on her explaining to faith why her dad was being such a jerk.

Noah: I tried to get through to my dad, but he thinks that faith being with him is for the best.

Mariah: That's what's best -- taking her away from her mom?

Noah: I feel the same way that you do about it, Mariah. How is some nasty custody battle gonna help faith?

Mariah: We're gonna have to help our sister get through this.

Noah: Yeah, we are.

Jack: Billy, could you give us a moment?

Jack: Yeah, glad to. I've got more cigars to pass out.

Jack: I wasn't managing you.

Phyllis: You want me in fashion because of my energy and style?

Jack: And that's a bad thing because...?

Phyllis: Because you didn't propose it to me as an option. You tried to manipulate me with it. How is that honest?

Jack: The truth is I couldn't say certain things in front of Billy.

Phyllis: Like what?

Jack: As proud as I am of the job he did replacing you in r&d, if I make him head of fashion, I have to consider the possibility that he and Chelsea aren't going to make it. And Chelsea design for Jabot is a potential big moneymaker for the company.

Phyllis: A messy breakup would be bad for business.

Jack: Exactly! It's a sound business decision, not because I think you are right for the job but because of intangibles.

Phyllis: But...I just... wanted...

Jack: What is it, baby? Look, you know what? If you want to go back to r&d --

Phyllis: It's not the job. I just -- I wanted one thing to be the way it was.

Jack: You have me.

Phyllis: Why me for fashion?

Jack: Losing Neil was a big personal loss for me, and I need you there -- the way you work with people.

Phyllis: And?

Jack: And I love you. And I want your work to be exciting and fun, inspirational. This is a high-profile position. It's frankly a lot more powerful than r&D. Do you want to stand in the background? You could be front and center, calling the shots, setting the style.

Phyllis: You know me. My God, you know me. Honey, if you thought I was a bitch about this... you haven't seen anything yet. Say hello to your new head of fashion.

Chelsea: Billy and I have been completely honest with each other.

Kevin: Good.

Chelsea: I know what a big deal it was for Victoria to get pregnant. I mean, I-I understand that it certainly brought up emotional minefields for the both of them, but think about it -- Billy and Chloe were able to raise a child together while he was with Victoria. I mean, they were able to successfully co-parent.

Kevin: That's true.

Chelsea: So, it'll be the same thing. He'll co-parent with Victoria. They will, you know, raise their child together, but Billy will be with me. [Sighs] Okay. Well, I got to run. Merry Christmas, Kevin.

Kevin: Merry Christmas. [Sighs] Except the difference is Billy and Victoria still love each other.

Chelsea: [Sighs]

Sage: You can't just walk out like this.

Adam: Well, we both knew this day would come.

Sage: With no warning? We need more time.

Adam: I've already given up enough time. My brother made me realize that. I need to see my family.

Sage: You're not ready!

Adam: You taught me everything I need to get by as Gabriel Bingham.

Sage: What about Constance? Are you just gonna abandon her?

Adam: [Sighs] I'm not aband-- just, you know, tell that old bat that her grandson wanted to leave -- okay? -- That he needed to rejoin the 21st century. I'm sure she'll understand.

Sage: Hey, we had a deal, Adam Newman.

Jack: I cannot wait to hear about your great ideas.

Phyllis: Well, good.

Jack: I wish I could stay.

Phyllis: Oh, well, you know what? You get to that meeting while I work on my comeback.

Jack: You do that.

Phyllis: Okay. Bye.

Phyllis: Sharon. What are you doing here?

Sharon: I work here. I was brought on as representative and liaison to the models, and there's a shoot today.

Phyllis: Oh. Okay. Well, then, you can turn right around and walk back out that door. You're fired.

Mariah: We'll use my leather vest, okay?!

[Knock on door]

Mariah: Hi.

Kevin: Christmas magic -0- I thought you could use some... even if you have to squint a little bit to see it.

Mariah: [Laughing] Oh, my gosh!

Kevin: Yeah.

Mariah: [Laughs]

Chelsea: This is going to be a very merry Christmas. Do you know that? Huh? Huh? Should we go get some decorations upstairs?

[Thumping]

Chelsea: Oh. Huh. Who's that at the door, huh? Who is that?

Billy: I got done passing out cigars, and I wanted to get something for you.

Chelsea: Oh, Billy...

Billy: It's our first Christmas together. It's a big deal, and -- [Chuckles] Nice tree.

Chelsea: Thanks. [Chuckles] Oopsies. [Chuckles]

Billy: You don't like this one?

Sage: I only went along with this plan because I didn't think Constance could survive losing her grandson. Gabriel means everything in the world to her.

Adam: I am not Gabriel Bingham, okay? I never was Gabriel Bingham, and I never will be Gabriel Bingham. And I never agreed to stay in this musty old house and take care of a sick old lady for the rest of my life.

Sage: If not for that sick old lady, I would have turned your charred face in to the police a long time ago!

Adam: So, that's it, huh?

Sage: That's right.

Adam: I leave and you turn me in?

Sage: What other choice do I have?!

Adam: Well, what choice do I have, huh? I leave and you turn me in, and I stay here, and, because of your sloppiness, the cops are probably on their way anyway.

Sage: My sloppiness?! That is not true!

[Doorbell rings]

Nick: [Sighs]

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Sage: If you abandon that sweet woman, I'm gonna go right to the police and tell them that Adam Newman is alive and well.

Ashley: What's going on?

Stitch: Brace yourselves, 'cause I have some major news.

Dylan: No more texts, no more phone calls, no more surprise visits or things are gonna get a lot less civil.
