Episode # 10543 ~ Nick Newman reflects on his life.
Provided By Suzanne
Nick: [Grunting][Ax clatters]
Sharon: There will always be an us, nick. There will always be --
Nick: Sharon, you stole my child from me. How many times did you watch me cry because I didn't think Summer was mine? You let Summer fall apart because she thought her whole life was a lie, and you let people blame me because they thought I kept Summer from Jack.
Sharon: But if they could forgive you for that, then you could forgive me for this.
Nick: You broke my daughter's heart.
Nick: [Sighs] [Panting] [Sighs] [Inhales sharply]
Sharon: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
[Bottle clatters]
Nick: It's why I don't want to be around you right now.
Sharon: Nick! Nick! Please! Please!
[Rustling]
Nick: You again. I thought you were a bear. Don't you know you're not supposed to sneak up on some miserable drunk with an ax nearby? What's going on, buddy? Huh? You lost? Yeah, join the club. Well, come on. I could use the company. Come on. Here you go. [Sighs] There's got to be some alcohol in this place, huh? I mean, it's a hunter's cabin. Hunters love to drink. What's -- can alcohol go bad? Hmm? [Exhales sharply] Ooh! Maybe it can. You know, the smart thing to do would be to dump this out, but...I'm already drunk, so what could it hurt? Cheers. Ugh! That's some good paint thinner right there. [Sighs] That's nice. [Sighs] Feel that? Peace and quiet. Just men being men. You are a guy, right? You know what? You don't have to answer that. I can tell by that confused look in your eye. You know, the best part about this is there's no women -- none at all. It's women, my canine friend, that are always the problem.
Nick: Okay. Look at that. Look at the fire I made. I have made fire! I mean, it's not a great fire. I know. You don't have to say that, but I made it. Hey, maybe it just needs more wood, and that's the answer. We're on to something here. Women are never -- never the answer. Wood always is. How much wood must a nick chop if a nick must chop wood? He would chop -- ah, you're right -- that's lame. All right, you stay here. You're manning the fort. I'll get some more wood. What are you doing? What, are you my babysitter? What do you think I'm gonna do -- go all serial killer in the woods with my ax? [As Jack Nicholson] Here's Johnny! [Normal voice] All right. What's your story? I mean, it's not humor, 'cause I'm funny. Everybody says so. You seem like you can take care of yourself. But me -- [Sighs] Man, it's just a series of one bad move after another, and it's all because of a woman. [Sighs] I mean, I look back -- it's like, how did I get here? I've screwed up so many things. Like, going back would -- would tell me how not to avoid pitfalls and such. I just -- I-I can't keep blowing my life up like this.
Bugatti: [Growls]
Nick: Yeah, I know. I know. Trust me -- it's blown. Trust me. Look at me now -- in the wilderness with an ax [Chuckles] And a serious buzz. And I'm talking to a dog -- a good dog, but a dog. How can it get any worse, huh?
Amy: Hello, nick.
Nick: Amy, it's really you.
Amy: I wasn't sure you would recognize me. I mean, I know I've changed.
Nick: We all have.
Amy: Not you.
Nick: Yeah, I'm working on that. [Chuckles] I can't -- well, please, sit down. Can you, uh, tell me some stuff? What have you been up to?
Amy: You know, um... [Chuckles] ...Life.
Nick: Yeah, I know.
Amy: But I think about you sometimes.
Nick: You do?
Amy: Yeah. Do you ever think about me?
Nick: Yeah, I do sometimes.
Amy: What do you think about?
Nick: High school, the coffeehouse.
Amy: [Chuckles]
Nick: Seems like it was a lifetime ago.
Amy: Yeah, you were just back from boarding school.
Nick: I was cocky.
[Both chuckle]
Nick: Actually, my son was giving me a hard time about that at my bachelor -- he's right. I was cocky.
Amy: You were cute, and I wanted so much for you to like me.
Amy: Nick, you know how I feel about you, and I think it's time.
Nick: For what?
Amy: [Sighs] For me to show you how much I care.
Nick: I really liked you.
Amy: But that's it. You just liked me. The problem was I loved you. You were my first -- the one I will never forget.
Nick: I know. I'm sorry.
Amy: I'm sorry that we didn't last, but I'm not sorry we made love.
Grace: Made love? [Scoffs] You make it sound so sweet... like pink cotton candy, which can also make people sick to their stomach. Maybe that's why it didn't work out.
Nick: Leave her alone, grace.
Grace: Oh, it's cute. You want to defend her honor after taking her innocence and dumping her.
Amy: Don't -- don't put it like that.
Nick: See, this is what I'm talking about. You were amazing. You were beautiful and sweet and nice. Why didn't I stay with you? Think about how differently my life could have turned out.
Grace: I'm surprised crushing her tender little heart didn't keep you interested in her.
Nick: [Sighs]
Grace: You do like a needy damsel. Maybe that's why I was never a good fit. Doesn't mean we can't try again.
Nick: Oh, no. No, no. No, I already told you. I told you the other day this is not happening.
Grace: Oh, come on, nick. Whenever you and Sharon hit a rough patch, grace was always there to kiss the boo-boo.
Grace: I just wish there was something I could do to make it hurt less. It just tears me up inside seeing you like this. You poor baby. You're all tied up in knots. I'm here, nick. I'm here for you.
Nick: You always showed up when I didn't have my head on straight, just like the other night at my bar, and like right now.
Grace: Lucky you.
Nick: You chased me.
Grace: I was available.
Nick: Sharon was your friend.
Amy: Sharon was my friend, too. That didn't stop you from leaving me to be with her.
Grace: He's all torn up about it, clearly.
Nick: Sharon and I --
Grace: "Was just the true love of my life."
Amy: The one that's supposed to last forever.
Grace: And yet you were still able to enjoy my charms.
Nick: I'm not saying it was right or that it made sense. I'm just trying to explain.
Amy: Make excuses.
Grace: You were willing to cheat on your beloved. The question is, why?
Amy: Because it was easy.
Grace: I was easy, wasn't I? So were you...even though you weren't that up front about it.
Nick: Be nice to Amy. And, look, I did like you. I liked you a lot. Everyone did. My mom liked you.
Grace: Hmm. She sure didn't like Sharon.
Amy: Victor did.
Nick: Until they got married. Then after that, not so much. My dad will never forgive Sharon for burning down the ranch. As much as he liked her then, he hates her even more now. You know, maybe that's why I went back to her again. Maybe -- maybe I had to prove something to my dad -- you know, that I could fall back in love with her again because -- because I was right, and he was wrong. I could show him. I could prove it to him.
Sharon: That wasn't what it was, nick. It wasn't revenge. It wasn't payback. It was just love.
Nick: You know, what kind of watchdog are you? Can't you at least bark or something and let me know when people show up? And before you ask, no, I'm not afraid of facing her. I just came to get some fresh air. You know, I said scenes -- they usually -- they usually happen in my head, but things were a little trippier than usual. I mean, it's like they're really in there. You know, I'm getting a little annoyed, though, 'cause not one of them's taking blame for any of the stuff they pulled on me over the years! You know? I felt like an innocent bystander, getting hit by friendly fire everywhere.
[Explosion]
Nick: What is that?
Nick: Look behind you.
Phyllis: Shh!
Nick: No, no, now jump right and stab.
Phyllis: No, I know what I'm doing.
Nick: No, what you're doing is losing.
Phyllis: Please.
Nick: "Please"? Too late to ask for mercy.
Phyllis: Smack talk is for players with no game.
Nick: [Chuckles] The queen of trash talk.
Phyllis: No, I am the queen of truth talk, like what were you doing with Amy or grace?
Nick: [Sighs] Come on. You know that wasn't serious, unlike that shot I gave you right there. Boom! Oh, yeah!
Phyllis: [Sighs] But it was a waste of your time. I mean, they got it all wrong. You, my friend -- you like a challenge.
Nick: You talking about you?
Phyllis: Absolutely.
Nick: Now, do you mean challenge or pain in the ass? [Chuckles]
Phyllis: Right back at you, cowboy.
Nick: What we had was good there, you know, for a while.
Phyllis: "Good"? It was great. Video games, junk food. What could be better than that?
Nick: Mm, not much. So what went wrong?
Phyllis: With us?
Nick: Yeah, I mean, whose fault was it -- yours or mine?
Phyllis: Why does it have to be anyone's fault, nick? Why can't it be that just love ends, people move on? Or maybe it doesn't. Maybe love is a circle, like a merry-go-round, and you just jump on and off when you want.
Nick: So, are you saying we could jump right back on that circle, pick up where we left off?
Phyllis: Is that what you want? That's what I thought. By the way, it was your fault.
Nick: Oh. [Scoffs] Mine? What did I do?
Phyllis: Ka-bam! Game over. Right there.
Nick: I cannot believe you let that troll rip my heart out.
Phyllis: Hey, watch what you call my sister.
Nick: I would never call your sister that.
Avery: She's joking, nick.
Phyllis: That's right. I'm a kidder.
Nick: You're not a troll. There isn't anything troll-like about you.
Phyllis: Not at all. She's all sunshine and cupcakes.
Avery: My cupcakes are spectacular.
Phyllis: That must have been the appeal, but face it, nick. You weren't all that in love with her.
Nick: You're wrong. I did love you.
Phyllis: Now you're just sucking up to the woman who left you at the altar.
Avery: You cheated on him with Ronan.
Nick: You did.
Phyllis: That was sex. Sister dearest here -- she flat-out fell in love with someone else. Talk about humiliation.
Nick: Yeah, she's got a point. Why didn't you just cut me loose months earlier?
Avery: Sometimes, you don't know what you really feel till you're standing on that precipice, about to make the jump.
Nick: You left me on that precipice in front of our friends and family, looking like a chump.
Phyllis: I try to love her, but she has layers -- little layers of imperfection.
Nick: Oh, don't you start, all right? You put me through hell repeatedly. The least you could have done is not sleep with Ronan.
Phyllis: That is the one memory I wish had stayed gone after the coma. But look at us now. We're friends, buddies.
Avery: No need to rehash the past.
Phyllis: No. We're cool.
Nick: No. No, no, we are not cool. You hurt me. You betrayed me -- both of you. And I have go on pretending like it doesn't bother me. We have these polite conversations back and forth, but I'll tell you what -- I was mad then, and I'm mad now, and I want to get to the bottom of it, but neither of you wants to.
Phyllis: We were cutting you a break, but if you want to get down and dirty about who did what to whom or what you did to Sharon...
Avery: You weren't exactly saint Nicholas.
Phyllis: No, not by a long shot. I mean, all the stuff you did to us and all the women in your life...
Avery: It's a long list.
Phyllis: And you're standing here in righteous indignation. "I'm mad." Too bad, because you have some things to answer for, nick Newman, and now is the time.
Nick: So, what -- I'm on trial now?
Avery: Yes. Yes, you are. Court is now in session.
Nick: Okay, this is a crock.
Avery: Nicholas Newman, isn't it true you recklessly endangered hearts with your careless declarations of love? You loved them and left them, in fact, with no signs of remorse from your callow youth until the present.
Nick: Not true. There was remorse.
Amy: How much?
Nick: How much?
Phyllis: She asked you how much remorse. Or have you forgotten how much you hurt this poor woman?
Nick: I care about you, Amy, a lot.
Amy: Don't, nick, okay? Not another word.
Nick: I feel so bad.
Amy: It's Sharon, isn't it?
Nick: I can't get her out of my head. It's nothing you did or didn't do. Look, I really hope we can stay friends. That would mean a lot to me. Do you think you could ever forgive me?
Amy: No, nick. No, I'll never forgive you.
Nick: I'm so sorry. You did not deserve that.
Amy: I gave you something special. What if that happened to Summer?
Nick: I'd kill the guy, period.
Grace: What about what I deserved?
Nick: Grace, come on. You know we never had anything real.
Grace: Still, it's nice to be asked.
Phyllis: But he couldn't care about you because he was too busy obsessing about that delicate flower known as Sharon -- the same reason he ditched you -- same reason he was all like, "meh," when you went back to Dylan.
Nick: I wasn't like, "meh."
Phyllis: You let that little blonde get inside your head. What a chump.
Nick: Okay, can we please not do this?
Phyllis: Ask him if he promised to love me.
Nick: Of course I did.
Avery: Did you promise to love Phyllis?
Nick: I already said so, and I did.
Avery: To love her forever?
Nick: I, Nicholas, take you, Phyllis, to be my wife. I will love and sustain you from this day forward in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want, in joy and in sorrow.
Phyllis: Please, don't stop.
Nick: I promise to be faithful to you in every sense of the word for as long as we both shall live.
Phyllis: I, Phyllis, take you, nick, to be my husband in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want and, I'm going to say, in sorrow and in joy, because no matter how great the sorrow, joy always follows. You've shown me that. I will be faithful to you, and I will have faith in you and us for as long as we both shall live.
Avery: Your promise.
Nick: Yes.
Avery: Did you keep it?
Phyllis: No.
Nick: Well, did you? I mean, we could talk about Ronan again.
Phyllis: Who cheated first, nick? Let's go there.
Nick: No, I don't want to. It's in the past, and I don't want to.
Phyllis: Oh, yeah. We're going there.
Phyllis: You're actually walking out? No idea when or if you'll be back?
Nick: After everything that's happened, I just -- I want to be fair.
Phyllis: "Fair"?
Nick: I want to be honest with you, Phyllis.
Phyllis: This is honesty to you? You tiptoeing past Summer's room, packing your bags, walking out the door?
Nick: I don't know what you want me to say.
Phyllis: Oh, I think you do. At least have the guts to admit it out loud. You were still in love with Sharon while we were building our life together and having a child. You were with her, and you knew it back then, just like you know it now. That's the truth, isn't it? Isn't it?!
Nick: I don't know.
Phyllis: You need to know! You need to know because "I don't know" doesn't cut it.
Nick: Don't --
Phyllis: Get out!
Nick: Don't.
Phyllis: Get out of my life! You leave me! You leave me! Don't you come back!
Nick: Don't.
Phyllis: Oh, my God.
Nick: Phyllis, please.
Phyllis: Oh, my God.
Nick: Don't. Don't. Don't do this.
Phyllis: [Voice breaking] Go. Nick, now. Please, go.
Phyllis: We were over then. We just didn't know it. You have any remorse on that one, any regret?
Nick: Faith is in this world because of me and Sharon, just like Summer is because of you and me. To say I regret that -- I can't. Those two girls and Noah are the only good thing I've done in my life. They're the only great thing. I'm so sorry that I hurt you, but I can't regret those girls being in this world.
Amy: So, is there anyone you haven't cheated on?
Grace: Now you're getting it, precious. It wasn't just you. He's practically a professional.
Nick: Look, I'm not denying anything. I know I have caused a lot of damage.
Avery: And yet you willingly and repeatedly committed emotional polygamy.
Nick: Give me a break. People are gonna fall in love more than once in their lifetime.
Grace: And some people never get the real thing even once.
Avery: The point is you emotionally engaged with more than one partner at a time.
Phyllis: Like, every time.
Nick: This is not fair. You are in love with Dylan. And you are with Jack.
Grace: I'm still single.
Amy: We know. Everyone knows.
Nick: So, what? Is that it? Am I convicted of being a jerk?
Avery: No. I haven't even called our star witness yet. Sharon Collins-Newman.
Nick: [Sighs]
Sharon: It's beautiful out.
Nick: Yeah, it is.
Sharon: Are you cold?
Nick: No. I mean, that could be the whiskey talking, but I'm good. You, uh -- if you're cold, I can get you a jacket. It really is peaceful out here.
Sharon: But not in there.
Nick: I've made so many mistakes -- so many promises I haven't kept.
Sharon: It's being human. We fail, we struggle, and we try to do better. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes...
Nick: But it wasn't just me. It was you and I -- we made those promises to each other.
Nick: Sharon, I join you in marriage to make you my wife for the length of our days, to love and to comfort you in joy and in sorrow, to support and to care for you, to cherish and respect you. I give of myself, and together with you in the sight of God, to bring love to the lives of those we touch.
Sharon: And we meant it -- every word.
Nick: So what's the request?
Sharon: That you forgive me, not only for all of my past mistakes but... for all the ones I'm sure to make between now and "death do us part."
Nick: I mean, what the hell, Sharon? From the beginning, there were all these secrets, these things that you didn't trust me with -- matt Clark and Cassie. It's like you didn't have faith in me. You didn't have faith in us. And then after that, it was just more secrets and lies. There was Diego and brad. It's like you kept giving us reasons not to stay together.
Sharon: It was fear and shame. I felt like I didn't deserve you.
Nick: When did I ever make you feel like that?
Sharon: Not in the beginning, but later.
Nick: Later is different. Later, we were older, and we had this dance. From the beginning, there were all the lies.
Sharon: I was afraid that you wouldn't love me if you knew the truth.
Nick: I mean, that's the thing. It was, like, my job to love you. It was this test that I had to pass. Did I love you enough? Did I protect you enough? Did I forgive you enough? And I'm just -- I'm tired. I can't do it anymore. I couldn't fix you. I couldn't heal you. And the truth is, I probably never should have tried.
Sharon: Nick, please don't say that.
Nick: I kept trying to convince myself that everything that happened to us would lead to us being together forever. Instead, it just led to you... devastating my kid.
Sharon: You said you would forgive me.
Nick: [Sighs] How a woman can -- can rip my kid out of my life and then me out of hers. How many years did I devote to you?
Sharon: I'm so sorry.
Nick: You're sorry? "Oh, I'm sorry." How many times have we said that back and forth to each other? It doesn't change anything.
Sharon: It does. It changes everything if you let it.
Nick: I can't let "sorry" fix it this time. I can't be around you. I can't talk to you. I'll never feel for you what I used to feel.
Sharon: Nick, you can't just shut me out. That doesn't work. It never does -- not for long.
Nick: I got to try. I got to keep my distance... or we'll end up back in the same place. You know, we'll be talking about where faith's gonna be staying the night and how she's doing in school trying to remain civil and sit next to each other at a school recital. And there's gonna be dinners and holidays...and you're back in my life again. And I can't let that happen.
Sharon: That's because we forgive each other, nick. That's who we are.
Nick: Not this time. I won't feel like that for you or any woman ever again.
Nikki: Any woman, sweetheart?
Nikki: Unh-unh. I thought you were just going to stick with water.
Nick: Yeah, that was the plan.
Nikki: So, this is how you're gonna handle it, huh? No emotion? Just a lot of whiskey?
Nick: That sounds like a country song Phyllis and I would have two-stepped to.
Nikki: It's agonizing, isn't it? You hand your heart to someone, hoping that they will take such good care of it, cherish it, and then others just are careless, or they don't know how. Our hearts break so easily when we love so deeply. And I have to say I did warn you about Sharon.
Nick: And there it is -- the "I told you so."
Nikki: No, only because I did many times.
Nick: That is true.
Nikki: I didn't want to be right.
Nick: Ah, you kind of did.
Nikki: No, darling, I really didn't.
Nikki: Look, maybe it's all for the best. I mean, very often, girls like Sharon are more trouble than they're worth.
Nick: [Sighs] What do you mean, "girls like Sharon"?
Nikki: I just mean that --
Nick: Mom, you don't know what you're talking about. Look, Sharon is a terrific person, and I happen to like her a lot, and I feel lousy enough as it is without you telling me that it doesn't matter.
Nick: If I had just listened to you...
Nikki: Sweetheart, you couldn't.
Nick: Yeah, but if I'd listened to you, my life would have turned out so differently.
Nikki: You have been so loved from the moment you were born by me, by so many people, and, yes, by a lot of women. Yes, you've had pain, but you've had a lot of joy, too. Have you forgotten that in this cabin with your whiskey and that dog?
Nick: You ready?
Avery: I think so. Oh, nick.
Nick: "Oh, nick, I like it"?
Avery: Nick, I love it. It's perfect.
Nick: I'm glad you love it 'cause you're gonna be spending an awful lot of time here... in your own booth.
Phyllis: Trust me -- sex with you -- not a bad thing. But like we agreed, it's the one thing that keeps getting us in trouble. Sex, something happens, we fight, and fix it with sex.
Nick: And it starts all over again.
Phyllis: Yeah, and that shouldn't happen. I'm tough, but I'm not as tough as I thought. Don't tell anyone.
Nick: I won't tell a soul. But you're right about how we do things...and what needs to change. I like having you around.
Phyllis: And I love being here with you. I do.
Nick: Then stay...with your clothes on. No matter how much you beg me to take them off you, you're gonna stay dressed.
Sharon: Well, do you want me to just list all the reasons why I love you?
Nick: Let's do that.
Sharon: Well, the main reason why I really love you is the way that you treat other people -- me and Noah and faith.
Nick: You're my family.
Nick: Yeah, there's been some good times.
Nikki: Only some?
Nick: Look, mom, you've hated half the women I've ever been with. Why are you siding with them now?
Nikki: Darling, I am siding with you, and I always have. I want you to find love -- lasting love.
Nick: What, like you and dad? That kind of lasting love?
Nikki: If you don't look for love, it will never come.
Nick: That works for me. Every relationship that I've ever been in has crashed and burned, mom. That's got to be a sign.
Nikki: Every relationship?
[Girls giggling, shouting]
Nikki: Go on. Go see who it is.
Summer: No! Don't go yet! Where are you going? [Laughing] Run!
[Giggling continues]
Summer: Come back!
Faith: Daddy's it!
Summer: Oh, faith is right. You're it!
Nick: [Growling playfully]
Faith: Aah! It's a bear!
Nick: [Laughs]
Summer: No! Not faith! Get off of her!
Nick: Ohh! [Laughs] Ohh! Okay, look at that. We've got leaves in your hair.
Summer: No, I kind of like it. It's like hippy chic.
Faith: I can't be a hippy. I'm gonna be an astronaut.
Nick: You can be whatever you want.
Summer: Yeah, well, just a heads-up, she said that she wanted to be a professional skateboarder, like, two days ago.
Nick: Oh, that's a thing -- a skateboarding astronaut.
Summer: [Chuckles]
Faith: Can we play wedding next? I'll be the bride. I'm gonna marry a man just like daddy.
Summer: And daddy is gonna marry a woman just like...
Nick: You're it!
Summer: Wait! No!
[Laughter]
Mariah: Oh, look at this -- all warm and fuzzy. I think I'm going to hurl.
Nick: [Chuckles] You're here.
Faith: The family's all together.
Mariah: Is that right, nick? Is the family all together?
Nick: You're Cassie's sister. You'll always be family.
Mariah: So why isn't she the one that's here?
Nick: Cassie deserves to rest in peace.
Mariah: Amen to that. And, by the way, if you're swearing off the women thing, rock on. Getting serious is for starry-eyed idiots. Oh. I'm sorry, Summer. I didn't see you there.
Summer: You know, life is all about finding love.
Mariah: Oh, my God, did you read that on a T-shirt? Love is pain always -- no exceptions.
Summer: Yeah, pain happens, but so does happiness.
Nick: Sometimes more of one than the other.
Summer: Okay, we have to fight to find love, right? We have to be brave and have faith. That's what you always taught us. Were you lying? Are you just gonna take back everything that you said?
Nick: You know, it's getting late. Let's head back to the cabin.
Mariah: Snowflake asked you a question, or can't you walk and talk, nick?
Nick: Honestly, it is a little hard right now.
Mariah: Go ahead. Tell Summer how love is a lie and marriage is a load. Make her crumble into little, dried flecks of hair spray.
Faith: Don't be mean, Mariah.
Summer: My father does believe in love, Mariah.
Nick: Sweetheart.
Summer: What?
Nick: It's not that simple.
Summer: But you believe in love. I know that you do.
Amy: He does...I think.
Grace: Or he used to, until you harpies got ahold of him.
Phyllis: Is that true, nick? No more love? No more women?
Avery: You're talking about a lifetime of solitary confinement.
Nick: Isn't that safer for everyone?
Phyllis: I was in bed for a year, alone in my head. That kind of alone -- you're not built for that, nick.
Amy: It would be so sad, after all that, to just give up.
Faith: My daddy's not a quitter.
Nick: Kiddo, it's more like I had my shot -- several of them -- and none of them worked out.
Avery: So you take another chance, nick.
Phyllis: That's how I got Jack.
Avery: How I got Dylan.
Grace: I'm still available.
Mariah: If you have given up on love, own your truth.
Nick: Mariah, I know you haven't seen a lot of love close up in your life.
Sharon: She did when she was with us. She had so much to look forward to.
Nick: Love -- it bends, and it changes, and sometimes, it breaks, but it's real. It exists, and I want that for all of you. But me -- I got to walk away. I-I'm done.
Summer: I don't want you to be all alone, dad.
Faith: That would be terrible.
Nick: No, no, sweetheart. I'll always have you.
Sharon: You could have more.
Nick: Not with you.
Summer: That doesn't mean that you won't love someone else.
Nick: Sweetheart, it would take, like, an act from God, some cataclysmic event -- getting hit with lightning or some kind of sign like that.
Summer: There's still a chance. You can't just shut yourself off completely.
Nick: I'm not gonna shut myself off completely. I have you. I have all my children, my family. You think I want to do this? I love women. You know that. But the pain and agony that comes with it -- I can't do it anymore. I'm done.
Grace: I'm still available.
Sharon: Don't give up.
[All speaking indistinctly]
Nick: I'm -- I'm done. I'm done! I'm done!

Nick: Aah! God! Aah! Aah! [Groaning]
