Episode # 10516 ~ Phyllis makes an important decision about her future, while Victor receives the results of Faith's paternity test.
Provided By Suzanne
Jack: Kelly? Kelly? "Jack, it's better this way. When you're ready to talk, you know where to find me. Kelly."
[Door opens]
Avery: Phyllis? Phyllis?
Phyllis: Don't worry. I have no intention of checking out like that again. Not when I have so much to do.
Paul: Here it is. You want to read Nikki's personal ad.
Dylan: "It was at new world when I met you, but now the path leads nowhere. They think you made your final transition, but I know better. You were right. I owe you. We are bound together, and we need to see this through together. I want this to be over."
Nikki: That last part is certainly true.
Paul: So, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, Ian ward is dead, and you are his murderer. Only we know that he's out there waiting to strike.
Dylan: Yeah. Once I've been convicted and sent away and I can't protect Nikki anymore.
Nikki: Well, if anything can get Ian to come out, it's this ad that you wrote. It's a brilliant idea, Paul.
Dylan: He'll never be able to refuse the bait.
Christine: So, I hate to be the voice of negativity, but the man is anything but predictable.
Paul: So, what are you saying? You don't think this plan is gonna work?
Christine: I don't have the same level of faith that you do. I'm afraid it's gonna backfire on someone.
Victor: What's the latest on Phyllis' condition? I want you to put someone near her door, all right? I want you to -- no, keep a log as to who goes in and out of her room. And monitor her phone calls. No, the important thing is to make sure that Sharon does not get control of the situation. You got it?
Nick: So, when would you like to go to the courthouse and finish getting married?
Sharon: When the time is right.
Nick: And when's that gonna be?
Sharon: Well, Phyllis just got back. We're not even sure if she's okay yet.
Nick: What does that have to do with us?
Sharon: Nick, please.
Nick: Sharon, come on. We have dealt with so much. We've overcome so much. Phyllis showing up like that, we'll deal with that, too.
Sharon: You make it sound so simple, like we'll just fix the broken window or the flat tire on the car.
Nick: I love you. Nothing has changed.
Sharon: Everything has changed!
Summer: [Sighs] Well, at least now my mom has something else to wear besides that horrible hospital gown.
Austin: I'm sure she'll appreciate it.
Summer: Look, I know you're probably thinking that I shouldn't have spent all this money, but I wouldn't have had to if Kelly hadn't convinced Jack to put all my mom's stuff in storage.
Austin: Kelly ain't the bad guy here, Summer. There are no bad guys here.
Summer: I know. But my mom is home now. And Jack never stopped loving my mom. And Kelly knew going in that this might happen, and now it has happened, and things are gonna go back to the way that they were, you know, the way that they were meant to be between my mom and Jack. [Gasps] Oh, look, they have cranberry scones! Those are my mom's favorites.
Austin: [Chuckles]
Summer: Now, I am sure that she will be complaining about the hospital food. You know, I actually feel really bad for the staff. They're probably gonna throw a party the day that she leaves.
Austin: Yeah, Courtney mentioned that your mom's a pretty tough lady.
Summer: Yeah. She -- she can be. But usually in a really good way. She can be really sweet.
Austin: How do you think she's gonna respond to us being married? Sweetly?
Summer: My mom, she's always been the type of person to follow her heart no matter what anyone else thinks. We're kind of alike in that way.
Austin: I noticed.
Summer: And I think that as soon as she sees how happy I am that she'll be happy for us. That's why I wanted you to come to Georgia with me after the wedding, so my mom could hear our voices and know what a good thing this is for me.
Austin: I can't wait to meet her officially, you know, now that she's awake.
Summer: It's gonna be great.
Austin: Yeah.
Jack: Kelly... I wish you'd pick up. I admit I'm confused about a lot of things right now. But there's one thing I'm quite certain of. I love you. I love you.
Avery: Why didn't you let one of us know that you'd come out of the coma? What made you run from the clinic? Why didn't you call Jack or Summer or me?
Phyllis: I am practically back from the dead, and you are asking me why I didn't give you fair warning? Hardly the reaction I expected.
Avery: I just can't believe it. You just suddenly drop back into our lives. Look, I am so happy to see you. I am so happy to talk to you and spend time with you.
Phyllis: I'm hearing a "but" coming.
Avery: Phyllis, the last we heard from the clinic, your condition hadn't changed. There had been absolutely no improvement and there might never be.
Phyllis: The reports of my persistent vegetative state were wildly exaggerated.
Avery: Well, I'm glad you can joke about this.
Phyllis: [Laughs]
Avery: So, you can imagine when we heard that you stole a nurse's uniform and slipped out with anybody noticing and thumbed a ride home and clocked a guy and had the state police after you --
Phyllis: That jerk had it coming.
Avery: Phyllis, I am trying to make sense of this. I am trying to make sense why the clinic didn't call any of us to tell us you woke up from your coma and why you felt the need to sneak out and put yourself in this perilous situation, hitchhiking from Georgia to Wisconsin. That's an act of desperation.
Phyllis: What can I say? I wasn't thinking too clearly.
Avery: You were thinking clearly enough to get yourself to Genoa City and thinking clearly enough to show up at nick and Sharon's wedding and somehow getting your hands on a killer designer dress.
Phyllis: I really wanted to be at that wedding and make an impression.
Nick: What hasn't changed is that I love you, and I still want to marry you more than anything. Now, we have made the commitment. We just need to finish the paperwork. So, when can we do that?
Sharon: I just think it's selfish to focus on a wedding right now.
Nick: I'm talking about you and me and the kids in front of a judge or the justice of the peace. We made it through 99% of the ceremony. We just need that "I now pronounce you" part and then, boom, we're done. It's official.
Sharon: There's so many things we don't know, so many unanswered questions.
Nick: I know everything I need to know.
Sharon: Okay, well, maybe I don't.
Nick: Okay, I -- look, I get it. What happened at the wedding was tough to handle for a lot of people. But Phyllis being in the hospital shouldn't prevent us from going forward with our plans. Phyllis is surrounded by her friends and her family who love her. She's getting the best possible care.
Sharon: I just -- I think it's best to wait. I just think it's the right thing to do. Just give it some time.
Nick: For who? And please don't tell me it's this damn secret, because I don't know how many times I can tell you I just don't care. I don't care what it is. Nothing is gonna tear us apart.
Sharon: Well, faith's confused, too. She needs a little bit of time, also. In fact, there's something I-I want to pick up for her in town, something special, okay?
Nick: Okay.
[Door opens, closes]
Mariah: Hey.
Nick: Hey. How much of that did you hear?
Mariah: Enough to wonder about Sharon. You think she's okay?
Nick: How could anyone be okay after having their wedding interrupted like that? I mean, it was just...so Phyllis. [Scoffs]
Mariah: Has she broken up a wedding before?
Nick: Uh, yeah. Once with a car.
Mariah: [Chuckles] I'm starting to admire the hell out of this woman.
Nick: This is not a time for joking, Mariah.
Mariah: Who's joking? You know, this could be a blessing in disguise. Everything will be out in the open and --
Nick: Just lay off her, all right?
Mariah: Wow. You really are worried about Sharon. And you don't think she's just upset about the wedding being canceled. She's worried about what Phyllis knows, and so are you.
[Doorbell rings]
Sharon: Bad time?
Jack: It's as good a time as any. Come on in.
Sharon: I imagine, uh, things didn't go so well with Kelly.
Jack: I woke up this morning, Kelly was gone. So was her luggage.
Sharon: It's hard for everyone to get used to the idea of Phyllis being back. It's going to take everyone some time. I can only imagine how complicated your feelings must be.
Jack: And she didn't walk in on my wedding. I can't imagine you're here to tell me you and Nicholas have rescheduled.
Sharon: Did Phyllis say something to you about me when you spoke to her in the hospital?
Mariah: "Oh, I don't care about the secret." Nice try. I don't buy it.
Nick: I care about Sharon and only Sharon.
Mariah: I wonder if you'll still be saying that when the truth comes out.
Nick: Yeah, well, there's been plenty of people against our getting married, including you, her own daughter.
Mariah: I was there in that ridiculous dress.
Nick: Yeah, a dress you altered at the last second without clearing it with Sharon first, which I found extremely rude and disrespectful. And if that weren't enough, you had to make sure everyone in that church knew just how unhappy you were to be there. And what did Sharon do? She sucked it up, and she took it, just like she took it when you made all those digs about how she was somehow unworthy of being with me.
Mariah: You call it a dig. I call it being truthful.
Nick: I call it rude and insensitive. Now, I know you weren't the only one acting like that. Far from it.
Mariah: If you're talking about Victor, he brought champagne. He made a toast to you guys.
Nick: We're not so naive to think my dad actually meant to wish us well. In fact, I'm convinced that's why he was out of town -- to miss the wedding. Because he's been working overtime to try and derail this wedding ever since he found out about it.
Mariah: Paranoid much?
Nick: I'm sure my dad's just gonna be thrilled when he finds out Phyllis was able to stop this wedding. He couldn't have planned it better himself.
Mariah: Victor is not the easiest guy to deal with, but I have to admit it, in a weird way, I have really come to admire his ingenuity.
Nick: Will you, for one second, just consider what your mother is going through?
Nikki: All right, I'm in a place I can talk now.
Victor: I'm concerned about you, okay? Several of the messages you left, you -- you didn't sound yourself.
Nikki: Oh, really?
Victor: You sound almost confused.
Nikki: Well, it's been a confusing time, Victor. You are not here. You won't tell me where you are. And, uh, a lot has been going on around here. Including Phyllis being back.
Victor: Phyllis is back?
Nikki: She is back. She woke up from her coma and apparently hitchhiked from Georgia to Genoa City.
Victor: Really?
Nikki: Yes. Just as Nicholas and Sharon were about to be pronounced husband and wife, Phyllis shows up dressed all in white. Put a grinding halt to the wedding. And then she collapsed right there in the aisle.
Victor: Really? How the hell did that happen?
Nikki: Well, I really don't know, Victor, but it was quite an eventful day. Victoria had left before that happened going to the hospital.
Victor: Victoria went to the hospital? Why? She all right?
Nikki: She's fine. The baby is fine. They thought she had gone into early labor, but it was just a false alarm.
Victor: Anyway, I'm sorry I've been so busy, sweetheart.
Nikki: Yes, too busy to return my calls, apparently.
Victor: Wait a minute. The minute I learned about Dylan's arrest, I called you, okay? I'm sorry that Dylan went to such lengths to find Ian ward, but I guess the guy deserved it.
Nikki: You seem to be making a lot of assumptions.
Victor: About what?
Nikki: When you deign to come home, we'll talk about it.
Victor: So... Phyllis did her job. Hmm.
Avery: Why were you so intent on getting to that wedding? I mean, I assume you hated the idea of nick marrying Sharon, but to make this herculean effort to get there, there's more to it. Phyllis.
Phyllis: Nick and you were getting married.
Avery: Before your accident. You remember.
Phyllis: Last time we spoke, at least I think it was the last time we spoke, you and nick were very much in love. You made each other happy.
Avery: That was the last time, and you were very supportive and understanding.
Phyllis: That doesn't sound like me.
Avery: [Chuckles]
Phyllis: How could you let that woman?
Avery: It wasn't Sharon.
Phyllis: Excuse me. She was at that altar practically one second from marrying nick.
Avery: I know. Dylan and I found our way back to each other.
Phyllis: Dylan. Well, I'm happy for you if that's what you want.
Avery: It is. But more than anything, I wanted this. I wanted you to come home. Look, I know we haven't always been close. But I really missed you. And I just couldn't stop thinking about all the good times we had as kids.
Phyllis: And when were those times, exactly?
Avery: [Laughs] Okay, see? Now you sound like the Phyllis that we all know and love.
Phyllis: It's all coming back to me.
Avery: Do you remember what happened to you that night?
Christine: If this plan of yours was just unorthodox, that would be one thing.
Paul: How exactly is it dangerous?
Christine: You're playing Russian roulette with Dylan's future and Nikki's safety.
Paul: I would do absolutely nothing to jeopardize their safety.
Christine: Not intentionally, but have you really thought through all the possible moves this man could make?
Paul: Yes! As much as humanly possible!
Dylan: Like you said, he's unpredictable. He's keeping us all off balance. This guy's got to be stopped.
Paul: Look, we tried playing it by the book. We did the money drop. It didn't work.
Dylan: Yeah, because the money was only part of the equation. The night I came in and I found Ian holding a syringe to Nikki's neck about to do God knows what, that's the night I realized what he's really after.
Paul: It's his obsession with Nikki that's driving him and the audacity she had to break free. What did he say to you?
Nikki: That I owed him, that I needed to give him a son to show that he had the strength to be a leader, and I cheated him. So I offered him money. That wasn't enough.
Christine: Are you okay being the bait for this?
Paul: Oh, come on, Chris. She's not gonna be --
Christine: I'm asking Nikki.
Nikki: Of course. I want to do it. I will do anything I possibly can. I just don't know how much more I can take, though, seeing my son in a jail cell and knowing that that maniac Ian is out there, capable of doing anything. I'll be fine. I'm okay.
Paul: It's gonna be okay, Nik. I promise.
Nikki: I know.
Victor: Doctor, it turns out that I have urgent family matters to attend to. I need to get back to my wife and my family, okay?
Dr. Jorgensen: You indicated that accuracy was of the utmost importance.
Victor: Well, that's a given, doctor. I need irrefutable proof that I'm right. That my son is not the father of my granddaughter, faith.
Dr. Jorgensen: I don't cut corners, Mr. Newman. That's why you came to me in the first place.
Victor: I understand, but I need to get back to the united states as soon as possible.
Dr. Jorgensen: I will have your results to you within the hour.
Victor: That's what I like to hear. Then I'll tell my pilot to be on standby.
Mariah: Sheesh. Get bent out of shape, why don't you?
Nick: Look, you're hurt. You're pissed off at the world with good reason. I get it. But you need to have a little more compassion and understanding about what your mother is going through.
Mariah: I have no idea what Sharon is going through.
Nick: Then why don't you ask her, Mariah? If you just spent a little time. Let Sharon talk to you. Don't you get it? You're a part of this now. You're a part of us. You're our family. Just so you know, Sharon went to see Phyllis last night at the hospital. She's very concerned, and so am I.
Mariah: But not about the secret?
Nick: I just don't want to see Sharon get bogged down in what Phyllis knows and what she doesn't. Sharon was just starting to get to some solid ground emotionally, and I don't want to see her slipping back.
Mariah: Oh, you mean so that a lowlife like me can't mess her up again.
Nick: Cut the defensiveness and hostility for five minutes. I want you to have one productive conversation about someone who means something to us, who needs our help.
Mariah: Fine. What are you doing to help her?
Nick: I went to see Phyllis, too, to try and clear some things up.
Mariah: Well, it sounds like you didn't get very far.
Nick: Phyllis' memory is still pretty faulty. She's confused about a lot of things, but she is definitely... she was trying to tell me something, but I don't think she knows what it is or if she even knows how to articulate it.
Phyllis: I'm still not sure what happened.
Avery: You don't remember anything that happened that night?
Phyllis: I didn't say that. I have these flashes. Bits and pieces. I'm not sure what's real or what's a fantasy. Although when Sharon came by, I thought I was having a nightmare.
Avery: Sharon was here?
Phyllis: Hmm. Is it true she got zapped, lost some of her memory?
Avery: [Sighs] Well, she was a mess before that happened.
Phyllis: When wasn't she a mess?
Avery: She was crazy. She was trying to break nick and me up. She was lying, manipulating, insinuating herself into our lives. I mean, she even used faith and tried to make me out to be this evil daddy stealer.
Phyllis: That must be the part you skipped over when you said you rekindled your love with Dylan.
Avery: [Sighs] Phyllis, you've been in a coma for over a year.
Phyllis: And I'm wondering when everybody's gonna stop trying to manage me and start telling me the truth about what has happened while I've been gone.
Sharon: By some miracle, Phyllis woke up, and she managed to get herself back home. And I'm sure you have more important things to discuss with her than me.
Jack: I'm sorry about the wedding. I'm sorry she chose that time, that place to come back into our lives.
Sharon: Somehow I just don't think it was coincidence.
Jack: How so?
Sharon: I've lost pieces of my life, memories of events. And given where I was at with my bipolar disorder before Phyllis' accident, it's not hard to imagine that I might have done some things that are hard to face. But I don't want to live my life like that, knowing that there's some horrible incident that I should be able to remember, and I can't!
Jack: But how does Phyllis fit into this?
Sharon: I think she's keeping something from me, Jack, about some horrible thing I supposedly did when I was out of control. But you would tell me, wouldn't you? Did she say what it was?
Jack: I have no idea.
Sharon: I'm sorry to bring this to you. It's just -- it's a terrible way to live your life, in the dark about what you've done. I'm -- I'm sorry. I'm gonna see myself out.
Sharon: What are you doing here? Did you follow me?
Phyllis: You bet I did.
Nikki: Everything that's happened so far has been because of my mistakes. It's only right that I help Dylan out now.
Christine: But if you change your mind or if this becomes too much for you, you are under no obligation to continue. I also don't like you facing this alone.
Paul: Nikki won't be alone.
Christine: I'm talking about her husband. Does Victor know about this?
Nikki: Well, I couldn't really tell him about it over the phone, but I'm sure he'll be home from his trip very soon, and -- and I will explain it to him. I'll make him understand.
Christine: [Sighs] Make him understand what? That it's fine for you to be in harm's way?
Paul: Chris.
Christine: You're putting her in the center of this plan to catch a psychopath.
Paul: How many times do I have to say it? Nikki is not going to be in any danger.
Dylan: I-I think I figured out why you're so against this. It's not because the plan's unorthodox. It's because you're not sure I'm innocent.
Avery: Phyllis, we're concerned about you. We don't know what you're equipped to handle. And according to your doctor, we shouldn't overload you with a lot of detail.
Phyllis: I guess Sharon didn't get the memo. She seemed to want to make this all about her.
Avery: She's actually changed a great deal in the past year. It was her choice to have the electroshock therapy.
Phyllis: Wow. She must have really had her back against the wall.
Avery: Well, she did it for her family, her children. She knew, I guess, that her sanity was at stake, and she did what she had to do to reclaim her health.
Phyllis: That is a heart-warming tale, I got to -- I think I just saw Summer walk by.
Avery: I'll go check. Listen, take it easy. Don't push. I just got you back. And I love you. So deal with it.
Phyllis: If I must.
[Door opens]
Avery: Summer. Hey.
Summer: Hi.
Avery: Um, would you excuse us for a second?
Austin: Yeah.
Summer: I was just asking the nurse about mom's condition.
Avery: She's doing much better. She's stronger, more alert, and anxious to know everything she's missed.
Summer: Who could blame her?
Avery: Well, we don't want to overload her with detail. Doctor's orders.
Summer: Okay.
Avery: And, uh, I didn't mention anything about your wedding. I'll leave that up to you.
Summer: Okay.
Avery: But I wouldn't mention anything about your husband holding me at gunpoint. Not today, anyway. Ease into that.
Summer: Okay.
Avery: Yeah.
Summer: Yeah. Thanks.
Phyllis: Summer! You out there?
Summer: Yeah. Hi. I'm here, mom.
Phyllis: Hi, baby.
[Door closes]
Summer: You're doing so much better today.
Phyllis: You're gorgeous. You're gorgeous. Look at you.
Summer: I missed you so much.
Phyllis: Oh, I missed you, too, so much, honey. Who is this?
Summer: Oh, um, mom. Uh, this is, uh, this is Austin. He's my, uh... he's my friend.
Mariah: Phyllis' brain is still scrambled. Do you think that's from the coma? Is she the type to play games? I mean, maybe she's just pretending to still be muddled so that you'll spill what you know.
Nick: Frankly, that thought hadn't even crossed my mind.
[Cell phone rings]
Nick: Sorry. I have to take this. Excuse me. Hey, Gordy. What's up?
Mariah: [Sighs]
Sharon: I know it's a lot to take in. We've both lost a lot. But you are safe and secure. You have a family, Mariah. A real family. And we [Sniffles] -- We have time.
Nick: Mariah, you cannot undo your DNA, and you can't erase the fact that there's someone decent out there who cares about you, someone who thinks of you as family, someone who will love you always, no matter what.
Mariah: Here.
Sharon: What's this?
Mariah: Something blue.
Sharon: It's beautiful.
[Cell phone rings]
Mariah: A call from the great and powerful Victor Newman. I must rate.
Victor: So, how is everyone reacting to Phyllis' return?
Mariah: Well, the wedding was a bust, but I'm sure you already knew that.
Victor: How's Nicholas taking it?
Mariah: Nick is worried about Sharon, and Sharon's worried about what Phyllis knows but isn't saying. And nick says he doesn't care about the secret, but he's afraid that Sharon is gonna go nuts again.
Victor: Oh, yeah?
Mariah: So I guess my info about faith not being nick's is completely worthless.
Victor: If I promise you something, I keep it, okay? If the information turns out to be true, then I'll pay you as we had agreed upon, all right? And then you can get the hell out of town. If that's what you want. Is it?
Mariah: I really can't talk right now. Bye.
Nick: Who were you talking to?
Mariah: Uh, a political poll. Like I give a crap who's running for governor.
Nick: Yeah, I guess you wouldn't care about anyone like that. I get it.
Mariah: I wish that I had never hurt Sharon. I wish that I had never followed her to Cassie's grave and heard she did some terrible thing.
Nick: Mariah, this is not your fault. My father's a very determined man with unlimited resources. If he thought there were something so damning that it could actually break Sharon and me apart, he would have found it some other way. Trust me.
Mariah: I know he used me.
Nick: You were a means to an end. When whatever you told him didn't pan out, he just moved on to the next thing, which is why he hasn't been there for my mother lately, which is why he missed my wedding.
Mariah: Does it really bother you, Victor not showing up, knowing how much he hates Sharon?
Nick: As much as I despise my father's tactics, there's a part of me that wishes he would just find whatever it is he's trying to uncover and then tell the rest of us so we can move on, and finally Sharon would have some peace of mind.
Mariah: From what I know about Victor, he doesn't want Sharon to have any peace.
Phyllis: I'm glad to hear you have someone to keep you company.
Summer: Austin's been really wonderful to me these past few months.
Phyllis: Jack!
Jack: Red.
Phyllis: Hey, you're so handsome.
Jack: Wow. You look incredible. So much better today.
Summer: Hi. Uh, you know, I was just telling mom that she already met Austin. We went down to Georgia together to visit her.
Phyllis: Sorry, baby. I don't remember that.
Summer: It's okay.
Austin: Uh, we should give your parents some time alone.
Summer: I'm gonna be right back.
Phyllis: Okay. I love you. You and your friend have fun, okay?
Summer: Okay.
[Door opens]
Phyllis: I don't remember that boy visiting me in the clinic. But some things I do remember.
Summer: Please let me explain.
Austin: How you're ashamed of me?
Summer: No, I'm not ashamed of you, okay? Aunt Avery warned me that we have to be careful what we say to my mom right now. The doctor said that she can't handle that much information. And if I introduce you as my husband, then I'll have to explain how we met, or else lie, which I didn't want to do.
Austin: You took off your wedding ring. Introduced me as your friend? I mean, if those aren't lies --
Summer: Okay, I panicked. Look, I want to tell my mom everything about you. I want to tell her how amazing you are and all the reasons why I love you before she finds out about the other stuff. Please, okay? My mom can be very --
Austin: Judgmental?
Summer: Unforgiving.
Sharon: Cassie, I'm scared. Phyllis is back, and no one expected it. No one even thought it was possible. And it's a wonderful thing for her family, but... I can't help thinking that she's here to make me pay for something I did.
Jack: My God, you are so gorgeous.
Phyllis: 12 months of beauty sleep.
Jack: I'm so glad you're back. I can't get over how much healthier and energetic you seem.
Phyllis: You're looking pretty hale yourself. Looks like you're keeping with the program.
Jack: Yeah. Over 18 months clean and sober. Thanks to you. Thanks to you sticking by me even at my worst, when everybody else seemed...
Phyllis: Of course I did. I would never give up. That's not what we do.
Jack: I never stopped loving you. I never stopped hoping for this. Phyllis, things have happened. You need to know about them.
Phyllis: Jack, I know. I know what you're gonna say.
Christine: I'm going out on a limb because I trust Paul's instincts. He says he believes you're innocent, so I've agreed to go along with the plan. But have you stopped to think what happens if Ian doesn't take the bait? I mean, how long are we supposed to keep this up?
[Knock on door]
Paul: Ah. Come on in.
Dylan: Hey.
Avery: I had to see you.
Dylan: Hmm.
[Door closes]
Avery: Did something happen?
Paul: Nikki's ad came out today, and I was just explaining to Chris how I think that Ian will reach out to Nikki.
Dylan: I'm worried about Nikki. You think she seems a little stressed out?
Paul: She's gonna be fine. She's a lot tougher than most people think.
[Cell phone rings]
Paul: It's Nikki. Hi, Nik. Uh, listen, uh, Avery just got here. I'm gonna put you on speaker, okay?
Nikki: Yeah, yeah, o-okay.
Paul: Go ahead.
Nikki: So, um, I just got a text from a number I don't recognize.
Dylan: What'd it say?
Nikki: "I got the message. I'll be in touch."
Paul: Okay, this could be it. Ward could be making his move. We'll trace the text and, uh, we'll start everything else in motion.
Nikki: What do you want me to do?
Christine: Nothing. Not a thing.
Paul: Listen, we're gonna have a guard on you 24/7. You will be completely safe while we get this guy.
Nikki: Well, that's good to know.
Paul: Are you okay?
Nikki: Yeah, I'm -- I'm fine. Everything is wonderful. I'll talk to you soon. Ah.
[Cell phone rings]
[Ringing stops]
Victor: Is that what I think it is?
Nick: Dad, it's me. I don't know where you are or what you're up to, but I need you to call me. It's important.
Dr. Jorgensen: The results of the paternity test for your son and granddaughter.
Sharon: [Sighs] Nick tried to convince me it won't matter, but it does. And I know that it does because I feel so guilty. What could this awful thing be? What is it that I've done? I spend a lot of time here talking to Cassie.
Phyllis: Yeah. And I heard what you were saying.
Sharon: [Gasps]
Phyllis: I remember you were at my side. I don't think it was long after the accident.
Jack: I kept hoping. I kept...praying that you heard me... that you understood what I was saying, that... kept looking for a sign.
