Episode # 10501 ~ Victor seeks information on Ashley's secret project; Mariah discovers Sharon's secret.

Provided By Suzanne

Sharon: So, I was talking to Kelly, and she's booked us a room at the club for our wedding reception. I told her that I wanted something intimate but elegant.

Nick: Uh-huh. So, no cheesehead-themed wedding? That's out?

Sharon: I'm gonna keep that in mind. So, anyway, Kelly was going on and on about the florists and the seating arrangements and stuff like that, and all of a sudden, it just really hit me that this is happening. And I got kind of panicked.

Nick: I already told faith we're getting married, so there's no backing out now.

Sharon: I'm sure she's already picked out her flower girl dress.

Nick: You should have seen her face when I told her. She was so excited.

Sharon: I was supposed to tell her. Wait, we were supposed to tell her and Noah together.

Nick: I know, but when I was talking to them, I mean, they wanted all the details, and they threatened to tickle me. It was just an obscene amount of pressure.

Sharon: Hey. This is the ticket I got last year.

Nick: Yeah, I must have dropped it.

Sharon: What's it even doing out?

Nick: Oh, when I told Noah we were getting married, we starting talking about how far you've come since then.

Sharon: Well, it's funny it would even come up.

Nick: Yeah, uh, there was a time when you thought that running that red light had something to do with keeping that secret.

Sharon: You know what? I don't want to talk about that. I don't want to talk about the ticket or the secret or anything like that, anything from my past. It's behind me. I just want to look forward.

Abby: And we are still waiting for the renovation work on the lab to be completed.

Jack: Yeah, I got the estimate on the projected cost of the new lab from Ashley.

Abby: Hmm. Yeah. Don't be surprised if we go a little over budget. Mom's updating all of the equipment and installing a state-of-the-art security system.

Jack: She really wants to keep this new fragrance of hers under wraps.

Abby: Mm-hmm. It makes you wonder why she put the whole operation in the hands of an ex-con.

Jack: Are you gonna have problems working with stitch?

Abby: Well, it doesn't matter. Mom made up her mind, and he is the lead chemist on our top-secret project.

Jack: I trust her judgment. On this, anyway. If she thinks you and stitch are the best people to run this thing, I agree with her.

Abby: You know me. I love a challenge.

Jack: Abby, we need this to run smoothly. This is a big deal for Jabot.

Abby: Uncle Jack, I am a professional. I will not let my utter disdain for the killer chemist affect my work at Jabot.

Jack: Your mother was not exaggerating when she said this brainstorm of hers could revolutionize the cosmetics industry. This is as big a thing that Jabot has been involved with in a long time. This is bigger than scarlet mist.

Abby: Oh, the perfume you named after Phyllis.

Jack: Yeah, I don't know that I'll ever be that inspired again.

Dr. Cutler: You're doing fine, ms. Newman.

[Cell phone rings]

Dr. Cutler: Hello, Mr. Newman.

Victor: Doc, I'm calling for an update.

Dr. Cutler: I told you I'd call you if I had news.

Victor: Doctor, let me tell you something. Some things have transpired around here that need to be stopped. The only one who can do that is Phyllis Newman. So, you have something to report to me? I mean, she must have uttered more than just one word. You have nothing to report to me?

Dr. Cutler: Actually, I do.

Summer: Hmm. What has got you so interested?

Austin: Well, you do now.

Summer: Oh, I do?

Austin: Uh-huh. Come here.

Summer: Okay. Wait, wait, wait. Let's see what my competition is. The classifieds.

Austin: Yeah.

Summer: Are you looking for a job?

Austin: Look, I can explain. I just --

Summer: No, look, you don't -- you don't have to explain. I get it's probably really hard working at the underground. You should be behind a camera training to become a director. That's -- that's your dream.

Austin: Look, I'm really grateful to nick. And if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have any income right now.

Summer: You should be doing what you love.

Austin: I love this.

Summer: Yes, okay. So do I. But, look, you don't have to work at a job that you hate.

Austin: Yeah, I do. And, look, I'm not looking to replace my underground gig. I'm looking for a second job.

Summer: A second job? Why?

Austin: Because, look, we live in an apartment that your dad bought. I work at a job where my boss is the guy you considered to be your dad most of your life. And the only reason I'm free right now is 'cause your grandfather gave you access to your trust fund. I can't live like this, Summer.

Summer: I had no idea that you were so unhappy.

Nick: I really should get to work.

Sharon: Mm-hmm.

Nick: Sharon? What is it?

Sharon: I...

[Footsteps approach]

Sharon: You came back. You're home.

Mariah: I came back. But let's not pretend that it's home.

Victor: Let me ask you this again. Is Phyllis communicating?

Dr. Cutler: Phyllis has reached a plateau.

Victor: What the hell does that mean?

Dr. Cutler: She's shown signs of increasing brain activity. Her eyes are open. There are involuntary movements. She's attempted to communicate. But --

Victor: "But" what?

Dr. Cutler: I can't be certain of her cognitive state or if it will improve more than it has.

Victor: Well, don't you think it's time to up the dosage? I mean, do whatever it takes.

Dr. Cutler: I've warned you about the consequences of that. The side effects could be damaging and irreversible.

Victor: Doctor, I've told you that she is a strong woman. She is a fighter. She would want you to up the damn dosage so she can get out of the damn coma.

Dr. Cutler: I've had remarkable success with my treatment, but a patient's odds of recovery are increased when human interaction is involved.

Victor: What does that mean?

Dr. Cutler: I think we should call her family.

Victor: That is not an option.

Dr. Cutler: You're not listening to me, Mr. Newman. The drugs I'm giving Phyllis are extremely powerful. I can't administer them to her indefinitely. If she doesn't show some sign of improvement soon, I'll have to stop treatment.

Victor: There's a lot at stake here.

Dr. Cutler: I won't put my patient at risk.

Victor: Do I need to remind you that I paid a lot of money for your foundation? I'm sure you want to keep that intact, don't you? You do whatever it takes to make sure that Phyllis comes out of her coma.

Jack: Kelly, I --

Kelly: I'm sorry to interrupt. It sounds like you two were in the middle of an important meeting.

Abby: Ah, just routine business.

Jack: Discussing Ashley's ideas for a new, uh, fragrance.

Kelly: How lovely. Well, it sounds like it's gonna be a big deal for Jabot.

Jack: Well, we need something fresh and new. Hopefully this is it.

Kelly: I hope so, too. Anyway, I have to go. You have work to do, and so do I.

Jack: I'll see you later?

Kelly: Yes, of course. Nice to see you, Abby.

Abby: Bye.

Jack: [Sighs]

Abby: I have to admit, that was pretty classy.

Jack: She's a classy woman.

Abby: I mean, it can't be easy for her.

Jack: What's that mean?

Abby: Come on, uncle Jack. Phyllis is one of those larger-than-life figures. The woman is in a coma in another state, and her presence can still be felt. Those are big shoes to fill.

Jack: Kelly is not trying to fill Phyllis' shoes, and I have done everything in my power to make sure she feels welcome in my -- in our house.

Abby: Okay, I'm just saying. If it were me, I'd feel like I was a part of some weird comatose love triangle.

Sharon: Mariah, this is your home.

Nick: You're back now. That's all that matters.

Sharon: Yes. Absolutely. I'm just glad that you are.

Mariah: It's not like nick gave me much of a choice.

Nick: No, I merely pointed out the benefits of living rent-free.

Sharon: Well, I'm glad that he convinced you. Um, I didn't hear you come in last night. How did you get in?

Mariah: You mean since I threw my key in your face when you tossed me out? I used the key you hide under that fake plastic rock outside. It's good to know the place I live in is such an impenetrable fortress.

Sharon: So, what time did you get in?

Mariah: Sometime after 3:00.

Sharon: My goodness, that's late. What were you doing out at that hour?

Mariah: It's none of your business what I was doing.

Sharon: Okay, I-I have a right to be concerned about you.

Mariah: Based on what?

Sharon: Because I'm your mother!

Mariah: Are you freaking kidding me?!

Nick: Okay, let's just take things one step at a time, okay?

Sharon: I will get you a key. I want you to be able to feel like you can come and go as you please.

Mariah: Don't worry. I will. And if you think I'm gonna be part of this little family that you're putting together, you can forget it.

Sharon: You heard about our engagement.

Mariah: I heard. Congratulations.

Sharon: Mariah, I really want us all to be happy.

Mariah: I'll be happy when I can pay you back and get the hell out of here.

Nick: Speaking of which, I have to get to the club, too, so I'll see you there.

Mariah: Yeah.

Sharon: Oh, so you're working at the underground again?

Mariah: If I had a trust fund like the kids that you kept, I'd pay you out of that.

Sharon: You know, you don't have to pay me back.

Mariah: Well, you and nick better compare notes, because he says I have to.

Nick: We're just gonna keep things the way they are, okay?

Sharon: Okay.

Nick: Don't be late.

Mariah: Yes, sir, boss man. [Sighs]

Sharon: I am really glad you're back. I was so worried about you. I couldn't even sleep at night.

Mariah: I don't need you worrying about me. I've taken care of myself my whole life.

Sharon: I'm so sorry.

Mariah: I survived.

Sharon: Well, I'm hoping, uh, part of the reason you came back is so we could change that so we can build a new relationship.

Mariah: And forget all of those lovely parting words of yours when you threw me out?

Sharon: I didn't know that you were my daughter.

Mariah: "I didn't know." That is your excuse for everything! "I didn't know what I was doing when I burned down the ranch." "I don't know what my secret is." "I didn't know that there was another baby."

Sharon: It's true.

Mariah: You should've known! A mother should know! You don't deserve me, and you didn't deserve Cassie, and you sure as hell don't deserve nick! I wish that I had gotten that stupid secret out of you so he could see you for who you really are. You may not know me, lady, but I know you. You act all innocent and vulnerable. It's bull! You are a cold, crazy whackjob!

Sharon: I am your mother, and don't you dare speak to me like that!

Sharon: I understand why you're lashing out at me. Ian put you through a terrible ordeal. You're hurt and you're scared.

Mariah: I'm not scared. I'm pissed at you, with good reason.

Sharon: You have a right to be angry with me. I never should have said those awful things to you.

Mariah: Well, you did.

Sharon: I can't tell you how sorry I am. I really am. And, Mariah, please... I wish you would give me a chance to make it up to you.

Mariah: Like you gave me a chance? You couldn't even be bothered to find out if I existed.

Sharon: I was young and stupid. I didn't know anything about prenatal care or ultrasound. And even if I did, I couldn't have afforded it.

Mariah: God forbid you stay awake during delivery to figure out if there was another baby.

Sharon: I was drugged. The doctor and nurse who delivered you drugged me.

Mariah: And then you woke up and had a wonderful life.

Sharon: I never forgot what I did.

Mariah: You married nick, you had a couple kids that you

didn't give away. Hell, you even found your precious Cassie. And all the while, while you were suffering through that, I was kidnapped by a woman who didn't want me, and my father figure turned out to be a sociopath. So, yeah, I think I win the "whose life sucks more because of your stupid mistakes" contest!

Sharon: I know that my mistakes really hurt you. We have both lost a lot because of Ian. And you can't let him win, Mariah. You can't give in to all the pain and the anger that's built up inside of you because of him. You're better than that. I know you want to hurt me. But you really can't make me feel any worse than I already do.

Mariah: I can try. I can try.

Sharon: Mariah!

Jack: So, you'll let me know when you got a finish date on the lab?

Abby: I will.

Jack: That about covers it for me.

Abby: Wait, uncle Jack. I didn't mean to speak out of turn before.

Jack: Which time was that? Oh, the time you talked about a weird comatose love triangle?

Abby: I'm sure Kelly doesn't feel that way.

Jack: Kelly does not feel she is in competition with Phyllis.

Abby: Not that she could compete. You know what? I'm shutting up. Ah! Dad.

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Abby: Yes, just in time to keep me from putting my foot in my mouth -- mwah -- again.

Victor: So, ready for breakfast?

Jack: She's already had breakfast.

Abby: Um, you know what? I am having breakfast again with my awesome dad. Yeah. And then an extra-long workout.

Jack: Well, enjoy your workout. I'll see you at the office.

Victor: By the way, I saw your lady, miss Andrews, on the way in -- lovely lady.

Jack: Yes, she is.

Abby: And she's very lucky to have uncle Jack in her life.

Victor: How the hell do you manage to go back and forth to see Phyllis and maintain this relationship at the same time?

Jack: It's not difficult at all.

Victor: Really?

Jack: My focus is here.

Victor: Well, I'm glad to hear that.

Summer: Do you want a late breakfast?

Austin: Look, I'm not unhappy, okay? Not with us.

Summer: Yeah, well, you're just not completely thrilled with your life.

Austin: I'm frustrated. I've applied to tons of production jobs.

Summer: Why didn't you tell me?

Austin: Because none of them responded. And thanks to the internet, everyone knows that I shot the chief of police.

Summer: I'm really sorry.

Austin: It's my own fault. I just... I really want to get behind the camera again, you know, pursue my career.

Summer: You really should consider yourself lucky. You know, at least you know what you want to do. Me, on the other hand, I have no idea what I want to do with my life.

Austin: You'll figure it out.

Summer: Yeah. I have bounced around from different things. I have done modeling, I've taken classes at GCU, and I've even thought about trying to climb up the corporate ladder like my mom.

Austin: Well, you would look sexy in a power suit.

Summer: You think that I look sexy in anything.

Austin: That's true. [Chuckles] Well, look, if you're trying to get back into business, I'm sure Jack could find something for you at Jabot.

Summer: You know, he probably could. I just -- I hate the thought of having another job handed to me. That's how I got my modeling gig.

Austin: You got your modeling gig because you're beautiful.

Summer: Again, not the most objective person.

Austin: [Chuckles] Look, you're beautiful and sexy. These are cold, hard facts. Ask anybody. Or, no, don't do that.

Summer: Maybe I could ask my dad to give me a job at the underground. And that way, I can work next to my equally sexy and beautiful husband.

Austin: Well, there's one problem. It is a bar, and you're underage.

Summer: No, I'll work in the office.

Austin: I thought you didn't want anything handed to you.

Summer: Why do I get the feeling that you don't want me working at the underground?

[Rhythmic knock on door]

Summer: Dad, hi.

Nick: Hey. Sorry to drop by without calling first. But there's something you should know, and I wanted you to hear it from me.

Sharon: Nick. I have to tell you. Can't hide it anymore. I have to tell you my secret.

Victor: So, how are you doing?

Abby: Uh, considering I just had my heart ripped out and stomped on, um, I'm great.

Victor: I'm so sorry to hear that, okay? Any chance of reconciling or not?

Abby: Oh, God, no. No, there would be a much better chance of me shaving my head and joining a commune.

Victor: Well, sweetheart, if it's any consolation to you, I've been through a few breakups in my life and stuff, you know.

Abby: Yeah.

Victor: You'll get over it. Eventually we all do. By the way, I understand that your mother hired stitch to work at Jabot.

Abby: Yes, she did.

Victor: Considering what happened between Victoria and him, that should make it sort of uncomfortable for you to work alongside him.

Abby: Hmm. I get it. Victoria ran straight to you when stitch told her he and I were working together.

Victor: Well, what's wrong with that? She's concerned about you.

Abby: Oh, yeah, she's concerned, but not about my well-being. Dad, I know what you're up to.

Victor: What am I up to? I just want to know what my daughter's doing.

Abby: I love you.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Abby: I love you very much.

Victor: Okay.

Abby: But I am not gonna let you use me as a pawn in your power game with uncle Jack.

Victor: You won't?

Abby: No.

[Both laugh]

Kelly: You and Abby get your business all taken care of?

Jack: That's what I want to talk to you about.

Kelly: Are you gonna tell me about this top-secret project?

Jack: No, I want to talk about what you overheard, and I want to apologize.

Kelly: You do not have to apologize for mentioning Phyllis or any feelings you may have for her. She... you have a past, and that's what makes you who you are. I happen to like who you are. A lot.

Jack: Yeah, well, I happen to love who you are.

Kelly: Now that we have that settled, why don't you tell me about this crazy thing you and your posse are working on?

Jack: I'm sorry. No can do.

Kelly: Oh! What's the matter? You don't trust me?

Jack: No, the waiters, the walls, the bowl of peanuts has ears.

Kelly: Are you kidding me? You seriously think somebody would go that far to steal your company secrets?

Jack: I know someone would. Now, I can't risk it. If it got out what we're doing at Jabot, it could cost us millions.

Kelly: Oh, didn't realize the cosmetics industry was so cutthroat.

Jack: Yeah, don't let the pretty faces in the ads fool you.

Kelly: [Laughs] You seriously aren't gonna tell me anything?

Jack: I'm gonna tell you one day I am going to name a fragrance after you.

Kelly: [Sighs] You don't have to do that, Jack.

Jack: I'm sorry. That -- that was stupid, promising to do for you what I did for Phyllis. I...

Kelly: I don't feel bad, okay? I feel loved. I just don't want you to feel like you have to keep trying to -- to prove your love to me.

Austin: I'll give you guys some time alone.

Nick: No, Austin, stay. I think you should hear this, too.

Austin: Okay.

Sharon: Nothing's wrong with Noah and faith, is there?

Nick: No, everyone's fine. I have good news. Well, I think it's good news, and I hope you do, too.

Summer: Okay. So, come on. Tell me. I'm dying to know now.

Nick: I got to make you guess.

Summer: What? No. Dad, no, please, just tell me.

Nick: Yeah, we can make a game out of it, like "21 questions." Go.

Summer: Fine. I'm just gonna call Noah.

Nick: No, no, no. Okay, all right. Sharon and I are engaged.

Summer: You're getting married?

Nick: That's the plan.

Summer: I'm so happy for you, for both of you.

Nick: Thank you.

Summer: Wow.

Austin: Congratulations.

Nick: Thanks, Austin. Yeah, it's taken Sharon and me a long time to find our way back to each other, but we finally did it.

Summer: Sharon's been through so much this year. I really admire the way that she's dealt with all that life's thrown at her.

Nick: Yeah, she's been very brave and courageous.

Summer: After everything she's been through, Sharon took the time to become my friend. Actually more than a friend since mom's accident. Either way, I'm just really happy that you stood by her. I got a chance to know what a kind and generous person she really is.

Sharon: Nick! Don't hate me! I'm sorry. I'm sorry I lied to you. I should have told you the truth. I should have told you who her father really is.

Mariah: Sharon, are you okay?

Sharon: Yeah, I-I was dreaming. I don't know. I don't remember.

Mariah: Well, whatever it was, it had you thrashing around pretty good. You were talking in your sleep.

Sharon: What did I say?

Mariah: I don't know. I couldn't really hear, but it's nothing that made any sense. But you must be wiped out, falling asleep on the couch in the middle of the day.

Sharon: Yeah, I am.

Mariah: Better get some rest. You've got a big wedding to prepare for. You want to be ready for everything that's coming your way. See you later.

Sharon: Bye.

[Keys jingle]

Summer: So, she just showed up in the middle of the night and let herself in?

Nick: You know, I told her she could show up anytime she wanted. I didn't think it'd be at 3:00 A.M., But, uh, you know, she's back.

Austin: This whole thing about Mariah turning out to be Cassie's twin, I mean, I can't imagine how you and Sharon must be feeling.

Summer: You must be really happy, finding out that you have a new daughter.

Nick: Well, doesn't change the way I feel about you.

Summer: You don't have to say that.

Nick: I'm saying it because I mean it. You're my supergirl. You always will be. That's why I came here today. That's why I showed up to walk you down the aisle.

Summer: And I'm glad that you did. Since mom couldn't be there. You guys raised me, and a part of me will always think of you as my dad.

Nick: You've really grown up.

Summer: You okay with that?

Nick: Not really. But I'm very proud of you. And your mom would be, too.

Summer: Okay, I think it's time for you to go, because we will wind up in tears otherwise.

Nick: That's right. I'll let you know when we pick a date.

Summer: Okay. Congratulations.

Nick: Thank you.

Summer: Love you.

Nick: I love you.

Austin: I'll see you later.

Nick: See you.

Austin: Okay.

[Door closes]

Austin: Hey. You okay?

Summer: Everyone's moving on with their lives.

Austin: You mean nick?

Summer: Nick, Sharon, Jack. So am I. I have this awesome apartment. I have an amazing new husband. I have a whole, new life, and my mom is just still laying in that same hospital bed.

Austin: I don't think that she'd want you to feel guilty about being happy.

Summer: I just wish that something, some miracle could bring her back to us.

Abby: Do you believe in miracles?

Victor: Why do you ask?

Abby: Because I think God must have had a good chuckle when he cooked up the idea of giving me you for a father and Jack for an uncle.

Victor: But, you know, I think he thought you could handle it.

Abby: Yeah. Maybe. [Laughs]

Victor: By the way, why did your mother hire stitch to be the lead chemist for the new fragrance?

Abby: How do you know it's a fragrance?

Victor: Because that's your mother's expertise.

Abby: No one said my mom was involved, besides you.

Victor: You didn't deny it. Oh, I see. So, it's an even bigger deal than you're letting on, right?

Jack: When I asked you to move in with me, when I packed up Phyllis' things and put them in storage, when I told you I wanted to name a fragrance after you, I was not trying to prove anything. I was...trying to show you that I love you.

Kelly: But I know you love me.

Jack: You're part of my life. When I think about the future, I cannot imagine a future without you. Boy, would I like to continue this conversation.

Kelly: After work.

Jack: I'll be home early, okay?

Kelly: Okay.

Jack: Wow.

Kelly: [Sighs]

Phyllis: [Panting]

Victor: I give you very high marks for professionalism.

Abby: Ah, you say it like you're surprised.

Victor: Well, because not too long ago, you were known as the naked heiress.

Abby: Okay, that was a brilliant marketing concept, and now Jabot is reaping the benefits of my mad business skills.

Victor: It was an outrageous marketing concept.

Abby: [Laughs]

Victor: But I'm glad it's successful.

Abby: I know you're teasing, but when it comes to business, I will do whatever it takes to come out on top.

Victor: Oh, my goodness.

Abby: I mean it, dad. If you don't take me seriously, you'll regret it.

Victor: Now, I know you can be a force to be reckoned with. You know why? Because you're Victor Newman's daughter.

Abby: Exactly. I love you.

Victor: Love you. Goodbye, sweetheart.

Abby: Goodbye.

Victor: See you later.

Kelly: Hey, Abby. Can I help you?

Abby: I didn't like you very much when we first met.

Kelly: Repeatedly calling me "hoochie mama" kind of clued me in.

Abby: Yeah, sorry. [Chuckles] I, um, I blamed you for breaking up Victoria and Billy's marriage, and now I realize it was more complicated than that.

Kelly: I hope you never have to know the kind of pain that drew Billy and me together.

Abby: You and Billy were a mistake. But you've been really good for my uncle Jack.

Kelly: He's been very good for me, too.

Abby: You know, I got to admit, uh, not a lot of women could handle all of the stuff with Phyllis, but I have to give you props. You've hung in there.

Kelly: Thank you.

Abby: Yeah, I've never really been a big Phyllis fan. I mean, I would never wish what happened to her upon anyone, but she wasn't the easiest person to get along with.

Kelly: You know, I've only ever heard Jack's perspective on her, so...

Abby: It's a little skewed. He saw Phyllis for who she was when she was with him. And he was willing to forgive her for some of her less attractive qualities.

Kelly: Such as?

Abby: Oh, she was tough, manipulative, jealous. I pity the woman that would go up against her for the same guy. She was cutthroat. Do you know she once tried to kill a woman over a man?

Jack: Sorry to just drop by without a phone call.

Summer: Texting counts.

Jack: I'm never sure those get delivered.

Summer: Don't worry. It did.

Jack: Okay. Where's Austin? He at work?

Summer: No, he's just in the other room on the computer.

Jack: Okay, I won't be long. I just heard something that I thought you should know. Um, nick and Sharon are engaged.

Summer: Nick actually came by and shared the big news himself. And then I told him how happy I am for him and Sharon.

Jack: Well, I'm sure he appreciated that. That must have been a little hard for you.

Summer: I remember the day that mom and dad told me that they were splitting up like it was yesterday.

Jack: Had to be a difficult time.

Summer: We were such a good family. We laughed all the time, and I-I was their supergirl, and I didn't think that anything could change that. But then they got divorced and...

Jack: And then you found out I was your father.

Summer: Yeah, that -- that was, um...

Jack: Go ahead. You can say it.

Summer: I-I felt like I had been cheated, like I had lost something.

Jack: I think that's understandable, yeah.

Summer: But now I-I feel really lucky. I have two amazing men that love me like their daughter, who really just want what's best for me.

Jack: That's right. And I always have. Just before you were born and then helping deliver you in the elevator, I felt so connected to you. I was really surprised you weren't my daughter. And then it turned out after all these years, you were. You are. And that means the world to me. Phyllis and I loved each other for a long, long time. You're a product of that love.

Summer: It's just so weird how Cassie just sent everybody on such a crazy path.

Jack: Yeah.

Summer: And nick, he leaned on mom, and then mom got pregnant, then nick and Sharon divorced, and you and mom broke up. Now nick and Sharon are engaged and you and mom...

Jack: Have the daughter we always deserved. The daughter I always wanted. I just wish Phyllis could share in this joy.

Summer: Me, too.

Jack: I came here to see if you were okay, not to make you sad.

Summer: Really, I'm -- I'm fine. I just want nick to be happy. And you, too. You both deserve happiness.

Jack: So do you, kid.

[Door opens]

Nick: Mariah went out?

Sharon: Yeah.

Nick: How'd it go after I left?

Sharon: She's still very angry with me.

Nick: It's gonna take some time. It's gonna get better, I promise.

Sharon: Maybe.

Nick: Did something else happen?

Sharon: Um... yeah, I, uh, I fell asleep, and, um, I had a dream. A nightmare.

Nick: What about?

Sharon: I don't remember. But something about it left me chilled.

Jack: If you need anything, call me or text.

Summer: I will.

Jack: I mean it. Day or night.

Summer: I will. Thank you. And thank you again for the talk.

Jack: Anytime.

Austin: Hey, Jack.

Jack: Hey, Austin. Take care of this girl of mine.

Austin: I will. I will.

Jack: Love you.

Summer: Bye.

Austin: That's two dads in one day.

Summer: Yay me.

Austin: They both care a lot about you.

Summer: I know. That does not change the fact that they're moving on with their lives without my mom.

Austin: Doesn't mean that you have to.

Summer: You're right. I think I'm gonna go see her.

Nick: I understand where this anxiety is coming from. I've been feeling it, too, myself.

Sharon: You have?

Nick: Yeah, it -- it's something that we've both wanted so badly -- to be together again. And now it's finally happening. And it's like we can't trust it.

Sharon: I feel like it could just slip through my fingers or that someone could come and snatch it away from us.

Nick: That is not gonna happen. We are going to be married. We're gonna have the family that we always should have had. And no one's gonna stop that from happening.

[Telephone buzzes]

Victor: Yes, Connie? Hmm. Send her in.

[Door opens]

Victor: What do you want?

Mariah: What you have been after all of these months. What you've been so desperate to find out.

Victor: What's that?

Mariah: Sharon's secret.

Dr. Cutler: All right, time for another --

Phyllis: [Exhales deeply]

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Nick: Sharon and I are getting married.

Summer: Dr. Penn, is there a reason why you don't want me to come see my mom?

Michael: The reddish mud your police officer was complaining about, I saw the same mud on Dylan's shoes yesterday.
