Episode # 10481 ~ Dylan wonders why Avery wants to help Austin; Neil must face reality; Stitch sees Bill & Victoria share a moment.
Provided By Suzanne
Paul: [Sighs]
[Elevator door opens]
Chief. Chief Williams, can I get a quote?
Christine: No, he has no comment.
Paul: Actually, there is something I want on the record. I just want to extend my gratitude to everybody at the G.C.P.D. And the Genoa City memorial staff and everyone else who -- who aided my recovery. Thank you.
People like your son Dylan McAvoy? How humiliating is it to know that Nikki Newman kept your love child a secret from you?
Paul: Humiliating? I don't understand the word "humiliating." I was very disappointed that my son is a stranger to me. It didn't have to be this way. Thank you.
Avery: Hi.
Dylan: Morning.
Avery: I got your text last night about not coming home. Did you get mine asking you to change your mind?
Dylan: There was a lot here to fix. Plumbing's on its last leg. It's gonna cost me a fortune to fix.
Avery: Are we gonna talk about this, Dylan?
Dylan: What, the plumbing?
Avery: You're angry at me for supporting Austin.
Dylan: Yes, I am. You want to talk? Then let's talk. You can explain to me how, as tough and as fiery and as moral as you are, how come you can stand up for everybody else except for yourself?
Summer: Um...here. Let me help you. Come on.
Austin: You're good at that.
Summer: Yeah. Well, when my dad worked at Newman, sometimes he'd let me help him tie his tie.
Austin: Not the tie. You're good at helping me not freak out, considering I'm not going to court for a parking ticket.
Summer: Are you gonna stop loving me today?
Austin: Never.
Summer: Good. Then I won't stop loving you.
Victor: Dr. Cutler, I just want to let you know you'll have the medical authorization for Phyllis' treatment very soon, all right? Yep.
Jack: I should have known you'd pull something like this.
Cane: Four.
Lily: What?
Cane: Four. That's how many times you've moved that bowl.
Lily: Well, I'm looking around this place, and it's a death trap. I mean, how many things can dad run into or knock over? And this is made of glass. This is dangerous.
Cane: Come here. Come here. Give me that, please?
Lily: No. Let me just --
Cane: Put them back down.
Lily: Why? He can't even see them.
Cane: For now, but when he comes home and wants to make sure the things he cares about are still here. Hey, and the people he cares about, too, okay?
Lily: I told him that the one person he cares about would ruin his life, and now she has.
Devon: All right. We're just about to pass Mrs. Hanson's apartment. You smell that bacon she's cooking for breakfast? A few more feet and you'll be home, okay?
Neil: Hey, I know the way to my door like the back of my hand. Thank you.
Hilary: Yeah, I know, but you also were unconscious yesterday from an electrical shock. I'm surprised they let you out of the hospital this soon.
Neil: Well, I'm glad they did, because I belong here in my own home, in my own bed, right next to my beautiful wife.
Victoria: [Chuckles]
Billy: Hi.
Victoria: Hi. How did you know I was here? Abby?
Billy: No. Actually, um...
Victoria: You called him?
Stitch: I knew Billy would want to know. Uh, H.R. Is waiting for me to sign my termination forms. Don't want to keep them waiting.
Victoria: Ben... thank you.
Stitch: I'm just glad you and the baby are okay.
Billy: Do you mind?
Victoria: Oh, no. Please, sit.
Billy: Thanks.
Victoria: Sure.
Billy: So, how are you?
Victoria: You know, the heartbeat is normal. The ultrasound looks good. Dr. Chiverton just wants to keep me here for observation because I'm a high-risk pregnancy. I hate that term. It's a constant reminder, as if I could ever forget.
Billy: No. No, we don't ever forget.
Victoria: I was just so scared, Billy. If anything happened to this baby...
Billy: Hey. Hey. I know. Believe me, I know.
Victor: You know, Jack, I really have no time for your paranoia, okay?
Jack: Very slick. You pretend to be concerned about my daughter when her husband's about to go to trial. You do have a way of pouncing on people when they are their most vulnerable.
Victor: You know, it's almost flattering to think how much time you spend worrying about me.
Jack: If Summer needs help, she can turn to the Abbotts. Feel free to take a hike.
Victor: Right.
[Knock on door]
[Footsteps approaching]
Victor: Hi, sweetheart.
Summer: Dad. Grandpa. Uh, come in. Hi.
Victor: So... I just came by to wish you and your young man good luck.
Jack: Yes, out of kindness and genuine concern for Austin, even though Paul is allegedly a friend of his.
Summer: Okay. Well, grandpa knows that the gun went off by accident.
Jack: But you and I both know there are parts of this crime that weren't an accident.
Austin: It's okay. It's my fault. Everyone knows that.
Summer: Okay, mitigating circumstances. How can we expect the jury to understand that if my own family refuses to?
Avery: I do stand up for myself, day in and day out.
Dylan: Austin stalked you. He harassed you. He made you feel secure for months until he kidnapped you and he could have almost killed you, and you want to protect him? You want to put a good word in for him?
Avery: Austin's mother was murdered by a man that I helped put back on the streets!
Dylan: You thought foreman was innocent when you got him cleared. It matters, because Austin is guilty. So, if you and Summer get your wish, yet another guilty person goes free.
Avery: No! It was a moment in time. Dylan, it was a moment in time that will never happen again.
Dylan: So, what -- Paul never lost his liver? I didn't give him half of mine? Christine -- she wasn't terrified that she would lose her husband? You weren't scared? I sure as hell was that I might lose you. If Austin doesn't pay for that, then this justice system doesn't mean a damn thing.
Paul: Let's go, you guys. Come on. Out of the way. Thank you.
Nikki: Paul, you really should be resting.
Paul: Yeah, there are a lot of "shoulds" in life. Those guys are leeches. What I should have done is arrested the guy that followed me to the cabin -- sent a message. That's what I should have done.
Nikki: Oh, I'm so sorry. He must have followed me there.
Christine: Yes, he did, Nikki. He was like a vulture swooping in.
Nikki: Well, I just came here to show my support.
Christine: For who -- your friend, the victim, or your granddaughter's husband, the defendant?
[Cell phone rings]
Nikki: Hello? What? I'll be right there.
Paul: What's wrong?
Nikki: Victoria's in the hospital. I have to go.
Paul: I'm so sorry. Hope everything's all right.
Nikki: Yeah. Me too.
Victoria: I was afraid it was like the last time, losing the baby. I try not to think about it. I don't want to invite bad things to happen.
Billy: Hey. It doesn't work like that, kid.
Victoria: I was just really scared. It's a good thing Ben was here.
Billy: Well, if you're gonna have somebody around, a doctor is the best choice. That was good planning on your part. You know, it still amazes me -- all the trying and the trying, nothing working, not the adoption, not...Lucy.
Victoria: Oh, beautiful Lucy, who's with her father now.
Billy: I did some crazy wrong things trying to give you the baby that you wanted, and look at you -- you did it all on your own.
Victoria: All on my own?
Billy: Hey, that is your baby in there.
Victoria: I didn't do it on my own.
Billy: Yeah, you did. That is your baby in there, soaking up your smarts, your love, your gorgeous looks.
Victoria: Ah, yes.
Billy: It's your miracle, Vick. That's all that matters.
Victoria: You sound like you're a little in love with the baby.
Billy: Maybe I am.
Victoria: Well... will you still feel that way if the baby isn't yours?
Victor: Sweetheart, what happened to Paul was terrible, but intentions do matter. Now, you never intended to hurt Paul Williams, did you?
Austin: Never.
Victor: Okay. Well, understanding and forgiveness are what hold a family together, and certainly marriage. Anyone who claims otherwise is a fool. Good luck, old boy.
Austin: Thank you, sir.
Victor: Bye, sweetheart.
Summer: Bye.
Jack: Austin, eventually you will learn that Victor Newman's moves are about as subtle as having an anvil dropped on your head.
Summer: You know, grandpa meant what he said. Okay? If you really thought that Austin was a danger to me, you wouldn't want me anywhere near him, okay? I wish that the judge could hear what grandpa just said right now.
Austin: What the judge will hear is that I had a loaded gun and tried to coerce a confession out of an innocent woman.
Summer: Okay, but Paul was wounded by accident.
Austin: With a gun I had on purpose.
[Cell phone rings]
Austin: It's Leslie. Hey. Uh, yeah. We're just about to leave.
Summer: Look, Austin needs support and positive thinking.
Jack: So do you. How are you doing? Not Austin -- you.
Summer: Look, it's all the same thing, okay? I need my husband to know that there is still hope, okay? It's just like mom, okay? Some days I think that mom may never be coming back to us, but deep down, I know that it's just a matter of time. I'm holding out hope for Austin just like you're holding out hope for mom.
Stitch: You do that a lot more now.
Kelly: Hi. What, work?
Stitch: Smile.
Kelly: I was thinking of something Jack said.
Stitch: Really? I thought that twinkle in your eye was work-related.
Kelly: Oh, no. It's a job, Ben, not a mission -- not like you.
Stitch: Yeah, well, I did my own paperwork today terminating my residency.
Kelly: Oh. I hope you still have your license.
Stitch: It's a safe bet the medical board will revoke it after their investigation.
Kelly: I know.
Stitch: How long was I gonna be able to hide from my record -- you know, my own past? The job was great, you know? It gave me purpose and pride, and, you know, maybe it helped me do a penance for the screw-ups in my life, but losing another child...
Kelly: If that child is yours, you have rights, you know.
Stitch: No. No. It's not that. It's -- Victoria had a scare. She thought she was having a miscarriage, but they're -- they're both fine now, and I was with her through the worst.
Kelly: Well, thank god. Look, what are you doing here? Why -- why aren't you at the hospital?
Stitch: Billy's with her now. She needs him more than she needs me.
Billy: Yeah, it's true -- it's a hell of a hard thing to process. I mean, the idea of you and stitch having a kid and me just sitting on the sidelines?
Victoria: Do you feel differently now?
Billy: If this baby turns out not to be mine, yeah, I'm gonna be jealous. I'll never understand why you and I couldn't have been the parents. But does that make this baby any less of a gift? No. Of course not. It's still a miracle, Vick. And I'll tell you something -- that baby hit the mommy jackpot. I'm just so happy for both of you.
Nikki: Hi. How are you? How's the baby?
Victoria: Mom. Uh, I'm fine.
Nikki: Yeah?
Victoria: Don't look so worried. I swear.
Billy: I'll -- I'll just let you two have a moment.
Nikki: Oh, okay. Thank you.
Victoria: We're fine.
Nikki: You sure?
Victoria: Yeah.
Victor: What have you done, Billy? What have you done to Victoria now?
Lily: So, I put some food in the fridge and the freezer so that way you don't have to go out.
Hilary: Yeah, I'll make sure he eats.
Lily: And I put some new jazz albums by your record player.
Devon: Your old miles one was scratched, so I put a new one on the stack for you, too.
Neil: Thank you very much.
Devon: Do you want me to put one on for you now?
Neil: No, I don't.
Hilary: If you're hungry, we can whip something up right now.
Neil: Okay. I'm not hungry at all. I actually -- I'm a little bit thirsty. I'm gonna go get a glass of water.
Lily: Okay, I'll get it for you.
Neil: No, you don't have to do anything for me. I can get my own glass of water.
Devon: The doctor told you to take it easy.
Neil: Okay. I appreciate that. It's not a marathon.
Lily: Dad, dad, it's fine. I'll get it. Don't worry about it.
Neil: What -- what is -- what is this doing here?
Lily: I-I-I --
Neil: Why is this table here?!
Lily: I moved it.
Neil: Why did you move it?!
Lily: I just -- I wanted it to be out of the way. That's it.
Neil: But it's in the way! I have to walk from the couch to the kitchen!
Cane: Calm down. It's all right. She's just trying to help. She's just trying to help.
Neil: I don't need your help! All right. Is that clear? If you're gonna rearrange my furniture, I'd appreciate it if you let me know first. Do you -- do you understand me?!
Cane: We understand you.
Lily: I'm sorry. You're right. I-I shouldn't have moved things -- not without asking.
Cane: All right. It's -- it's not a big deal. We can put everything back.
Neil: Do me a favor, okay? Stop treating me like a child. Lily, I'm your dad! I'm not Charlie or Mattie! I'm not an invalid here!
Lily: No, of -- of course not. Oh, I forgot Mattie's dance shoes. I'm, uh...
Cane: You know, when she went through a tough time, she let you be there for her, so maybe you should let her be here for you.
Neil: Thanks for coming, cane. I'm gonna get a glass of water. Does anybody need anything?
Hilary: No, thank you.
Devon: I'm good. Thanks.
Jack: You remember when your mother and I took that trip to Istanbul?
Summer: Uh, yeah, kind of.
Jack: Well, Phyllis did a lot of shopping there. This is one of the things she bought.
Summer: It's beautiful.
Jack: It's supposed to ward off bad luck.
Summer: I guess she wasn't wearing it when she fell.
Jack: No, she wasn't. But maybe you should... especially today.
Summer: You believe in Austin, too.
Jack: I believe in you. Don't let go.
Kelly: Yes, things between you and Victoria are complicated, but "complicated" does not mean "impossible." Look, take me, for example, okay? When I first met Jack, I could tell his heart belonged to Phyllis, so I tried to stay away, and I couldn't. So, I told myself not to hope or want or expect anything -- just enjoy what we had for what it was. And in the end, Jack made a decision. He decided to let go of the past and open his heart to me. So, you still have a chance with Victoria.
Stitch: I was lucky to get the first chance. But after lying to her and making her the last to know about my past, Victoria doesn't owe me a second chance.
Kelly: Do you want to be with her?
Stitch: I do, whether the baby's mine or not. But wanting and getting are --
Kelly: She knows everything that you were trying to hide, and still she let you be with her when she needed somebody the most.
Stitch: Look, I was just the stand-in, you know, until Billy showed up, so just, you know...
Kelly: That's because you let him in. You don't just open the door and let him walk into her life. Fight, Ben. Try. You deserve happiness as much as anybody else.
Victor: What did you do to push Victoria to needing medical attention?
Billy: Okay, see, I was always wondering what was worse in your book -- me being an addict or your buddy stitch being a killer -- and I guess now we know.
Victor: For your information, he treated Victoria with respect and consideration. I had no reason to doubt him.
Billy: That's because you didn't want to see it. Your vote has always been "A.B.B." -- "Anybody but Billy." But I knew the guy was full of it. I knew whatever he was hiding had to be ugly.
Victor: Maybe I've been too trusting as far as Rayburn is concerned, or whatever the hell his name is. At doesn't mean that you are worthy of my daughter. In fact, neither you or Rayburn are worthy of Victoria.
Billy: Whatever, Victor.
Dylan: Hey. How you doing?
Paul: Oh. She was just here. She got a call. Victoria's in the hospital. I wasn't sure that you were --
Dylan: Is it the baby? I can call --
Christine: Listen, I'm glad you're here. D.A.'s gonna call you first, okay? Paul will be the follow-up witness. He's going to explain the investigation and the shooting. Are you good to go?
Dylan: Yeah. I went over it a thousand times in my head when I should have been sleeping.
Paul: Yeah, that makes two of us.
Christine: Well, your testimony, coupled with Austin's initial confession, should be enough to put him away for a long time.
Jack: Wait for Leslie.
Austin: I need to say this. Chief Williams? I wanted to say that I'm glad you're okay more than you know.
Christine: I'm sure you are. If my husband had died, you'd be looking at 25 to life.
Austin: I put you through hell, sir. Dylan, you too. And I know "sorry" doesn't fix it, and I wish to god none of it had happened. I hope that one day you'll forgive me.
Jack: Hey. A lesser man might have hidden behind his lawyer or his wife. You didn't. I'm proud of you, son.
Summer: Did you see Christine's face? An apology isn't gonna matter to her. She wanted my mom in prison, and now she wants my husband there, too.
Avery: Well, don't forget -- Christine isn't prosecuting this case. Her A.D.A. Is. And the fact is, we may be able to turn this around.
Nikki: She has more color than when I first got here.
Victor: Yes, she does. Now, wait a minute. I heard that you worked in the office while I was gone.
Victoria: Yes, I sure did. It was wonderful. It's great being back. I made some calls. I helped negotiate the deal for the factory in Toledo.
Victor: Well, I'm glad to hear that, but I hope you're not here because you worked too hard.
Victoria: No, dad. It had nothing to do with Newman-chancellor -- I mean, unless you don't want me back there.
Nikki: Oh, no, honey. I don't think that's what your father meant. He just wants you to be as healthy as you can be.
Victoria: Well, the office makes me feel like me. I don't want to give that up.
Victor: Well, do you know how happy I am to hear that? I will support you 100% no matter what you do.
Leslie: Austin is a textbook candidate for the deferred prosecution program.
Christine: Oh, no. Not a chance.
Dylan: What is that?
Avery: Deferred prosecution program. It --
Dylan: What is it?
Paul: It allows the defendant to avoid trial in exchange for community service, counseling, and a fine.
Summer: No prison?
Christine: It's not on the table.
Austin: That's why I didn't tell you.
Summer: You knew that there was a chance?
Dylan: No, Christine's right. It's not an option. You kidnapped a woman. You put a guy in the E.R. You do your time.
Summer: Look, Dylan, I know that you're a good guy, after everything that happened with you and Chelsea's baby. People do awful things for what seems like the right reason, and Austin was really missing his mom, so he did a terrible thing.
Austin: Summer, you don't have to --
Dylan: Just let her talk.
Summer: Okay, things got really out of hand, including you going to save Avery without the police being there. But Austin knows what he did, and he feels remorse, and he wants to make it up to you and to Paul and to Avery and everybody else, but does putting him in prison really help anyone?
Christine: It shows Austin and other violent criminals that if they break the law, they get prosecuted and punished. He shot the chief of police.
Summer: By accident.
Christine: An innocent man bled and suffered and almost died. This case is going to trial.
Avery: Christine, we understand your emotional involvement in this case, but you recused yourself, for obvious reasons, so now it's up to the A.D.A. To either accept the deal or not.
Christine: He won't.
Avery: Okay, this case is not the slam dunk you think it is. I've written a statement in support of leniency, and we both know that the victim's own words can go a long way.
Christine: Paul almost died, right? That outweighs everything. And while Paul tells his story, this whole conversation will have been a waste of time.
Paul: That is if I decide to testify.
Cane: Lily. Lily. Hey, hey, hey. Are you sure you don't want me to take you home?
Lily: Did you hear the tone of his voice? It's like he hates me.
Cane: He doesn't hate you. He adores you, okay? The situation's new. He just needs time to figure out how he's gonna deal with it.
Lily: Does he think that I don't understand that? I mean, I have dealt with surgery and chemo and knowing that I will never be pregnant.
Cane: I told him that, okay? Listen, this is his struggle, all right? He just needs to figure out how he's gonna deal with it.
Lily: I mean, he was a dad who waltzed me around on his feet, and now --
Cane: All right, listen -- he's gonna do that. Whether he can see or not, he'll waltz Mattie around. Just listen to me. Just give him time, all right? He has to figure out how he's gonna cope with this.
Lily: Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of, because in the old days, his way of coping was by drinking.
Devon: Hey. I was thirsty. If he knew I was in there to check on him, he would have gone off on me, but he's doing okay.
Hilary: Yeah, because everything is where it's supposed to be -- not moved all around. Who does that to a man who suddenly can't see?
Devon: Come on, now. Lily was trying to help him out. You know that. You thought it was a good idea to move stuff.
Hilary: Yeah, well, lily and I were both wrong. What Neil needs right now is consistency, okay? He's had enough surprises.
Devon: I'm not gonna tell him about us anytime soon, if that's what you're worried about. I'm gonna do that at the right time.
Hilary: When is the right time to break a good man's heart?
Devon: I hate it, too, but we talked about this. We're not gonna pretend that we don't feel what we feel about each other.
Hilary: All I feel right now is that my husband needs me, and I'm here for him.
Devon: What does that mean?
Hilary: It means I'M...sorry, Devon.
Neil: Hey. Was that Devon?
Hilary: Yeah. He's gone now. It's just the two of us. Mmm.
Neil: Yeah?
Summer: If you knew there was a chance for a deal...
Austin: Leslie said it was slim, and I didn't want to get your hopes up. We had a great year, and I didn't want to ruin it.
Jack: A great year?
Summer: Um, yeah. It's a newlywed thing. My hopes are up now. Did you hear Paul?
Austin: He has every right to want a trial.
Jack: What do you think chances are the A.D.A. Will agree to this -- I mean, your professional opinion?
Avery: Well, the evidence is clear. There's no room for debate, honestly. But Austin has some heavy hitters in his corner, so I'm with Summer. Do not give up hope.
Christine: Trials and verdicts and prison terms -- it's all about law enforcement. It's what you and I do.
Paul: I understand that. But prison only makes sense when the greater good of the public is being served.
Christine: Okay, and it's served when violent criminals are punished for their actions.
Paul: You know, the deferment program is not a free pass. It rehabilitates first-time offenders. It's gonna keep this kid out of the system.
Dylan: Why does everyone keep calling him a kid? It's a man who bought a gun for the sole purpose of terrorizing Avery.
Paul: And if he blows it again, the charges return. I testify, and he does some real time. Listen, guys... we have a chance here to save a life. That is not always the case.
Christine: This isn't Ricky.
Paul: I know. It's too late for Ricky. But it's not too late for Austin.
Christine: I'll go talk to the A.D.A.
Lily: We didn't even know about the last time that dad went on a bender. He was alone and he left town and got drunk with people like Hilary's mother.
Cane: Okay, but this time he's not alone, 'cause he has you, he has Devon, he has Moses, and, whether you like it or not, he has Hilary.
Lily: Hilary? She tried to spike his drink when she wanted to destroy him, and now she's in his face, in his apartment. God knows what she'll do now that she knows he can't see her. She's going to torture him, take his money, and then move on with someone else, and then where will dad be?
Neil: Yeah. I'll tell you why Devon left. He left because I was acting like a jackass. I shouldn't have been so angry like that.
Hilary: No. No. He just wanted to give us our space.
Neil: No, that's -- and -- and lily -- you know, I hurt her feelings, and there's no excuse for that. I-I mean, my kids have been through worse than this. You know, Devon -- he had meningitis. He lost his hearing. And lily -- she had cancer and almost died, and here I am. I-I have no right to be angry.
Hilary: Babe, this all happened so fast. You are allowed to be mad or sad... or just close your eyes and rest.
Neil: It looks the same -- eyes wide open or shut.
Hilary: God. I'm sorry. I didn't --
Neil: No, no, no, no, no. Don't apologize. Don't listen to me. I just -- this wasn't supposed to be like this -- not like this, all right? I was supposed to be renovating our beautiful home, getting ready to move in with you. Baby...I wanted -- I wanted to give you everything here, not this.
Hilary: You have given me everything, okay? I am honored to be the woman in your life, to be by your side through all of this.
Neil: We will work this out together.
Hilary: Yeah. Hell, yeah, okay? My money is on us.
Neil: The smartest thing that I did -- convincing you to marry me, right?
Nikki: Hey, Devon. You have a minute?
Devon: Sure, Nikki. Wait a second.
Nikki: Oh, thanks. Uh... I just wanted to say that, uh, you know, the other night, in that bar across town... I wasn't there to do the typical thing. I don't know if other people would understand that if they heard it second-hand, you know?
Victor: Heard about what?
Devon: Nikki heard about my father's accident, 'cause we were trying to keep it quiet for a while, but he's already out of the hospital and he's back home.
Victor: So, your dad is home?
Devon: He is, yeah.
Victor: That's nice.
Devon: Lily and I got him all settled in, and then we took off so he can spend some time with his wife.
Victor: What is his wife's name again?
Devon: Hilary.
Victor: Well, I'm glad that she's there with him now.
Devon: Me too -- for now and forever, just like the vows say.
Victor: Okay.
Devon: If you'll excuse me...
Victor: All right, Devon.
Devon: ...I'm gonna get some work done, but it's good to see you, Nikki. And Mr. Newman.
Victor: Nice to see you. All right. You seem a little anxious.
Nikki: No. Um...well, it just feels like we can't catch a breath, you know?
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Nikki: I know Victoria wants this baby so badly.
Victor: Well, I wouldn't worry about that, because I think Victoria's gonna bring that child into the world by sheer will. You know, she has a good role model for grace under pressure -- you.
Billy: While you're in here, I'm gonna crash with Johnny -- have our important man time. You don't mind if we play paintball in the living room, do you?
Victoria: Oh, you're hilarious. I wouldn't put it past you.
Billy: Well, you know me too well.
Victoria: Give him a hug and kiss from his mom, okay?
Billy: Yeah, I'll do it, if you're ready to pass it on.
Victoria: [Chuckles]
Austin: Thank you, sir. I am so grateful. It's more than I deserve, and I won't let you down.
Paul: I'm counting on that, which is why I agreed to the deal. No prison, lots of hard work, lots of responsibility. The kind of man you become, Austin, is your choice. You make the right one.
Austin: I will.
Summer: Oh, my gosh! So, is that it?
Leslie: The plea agreement. Just need your signature.
Austin: And then I'm free to go?
Leslie: You can walk right out that door. You just have to comply with the terms in the agreement.
Summer: He will.
Austin: I will.
Leslie: Congratulations, you two. Now, I don't need to say you better never need to hire me again.
Austin: Never.
Leslie: Okay.
Summer: Thank you. Um, my dad gave me a good-luck charm that my mom bought in Istanbul. My mom made this happen. She knew that we needed to be together. Wait. What's wrong?
Austin: The fine has to be paid by next week. I'll never get that money together in time. I may go to prison anyway.
Kelly: Oh, hello.
Jack: Hello.
Kelly: You're back. What happened? Was the trial pushed?
Jack: There was a plea deal. Paul had a change of heart. Austin is not going to prison.
Kelly: Oh, my gosh. That's amazing. Summer must be thrilled.
Jack: Mm-hmm.
Kelly: It's like a second chance at a future. That's such a gift. I hope Austin realizes that.
Jack: I know I do.
Kelly: Well, now that Summer can enjoy being a wife...
Jack: Once the dust settles, I think we need to tell her about us.
Kelly: Are you sure about that?
Jack: Yes. I'm sure. I told Phyllis I'm ready to walk away from unrealistic old dreams. Summer needs to know now, too. And what we have -- this -- is so strong and solid and means so much to me, I want my whole family to know. In fact, I want the whole world to know, and soon, they will.
Kelly: Wh-what do you mean, the whole...world? What are you saying, Jack?
Avery: Dylan, it was a collective decision to make the deal with Austin.
Dylan: Yeah, but you're -- but you're happy.
Avery: Yes, and considering it's what Paul himself wanted --
Dylan: Forget Paul. What about the law? What about people paying for their crimes? What happened to that? Maybe we should just let everybody out of jail. Does everybody deserve a clean slate?
[Cell phone rings]
Avery: Hello? Yes. Yes. I understand. Okay. Thank you. Bye.
Dylan: Hey. What was that about?
Avery: My sister.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Sharon: I threw Mariah out.
Faith: Why did you make her leave?
Dr. Hill: What can I do for you today, Mr. Newman?
Nick: It's actually a former acquaintance of yours -- Helen Copeland.
Avery: I just got a call. It's about your mom.
