Episode # 10465 ~ Nikki warns Austin not to hurt Summer; Traci gives Abby love advice; Victor gets important information about Phyllis.
Provided By Suzanne
Sharon: You're up early.
Nick: Movers are gonna be here soon.
Sharon: Oh, good. I'm glad. I was starting to think you were never gonna move the rest of your stuff in here, even if it means I have to make room for that relic you call a recliner.
Nick: You don't have to make room for my chair.
Sharon: But you're not at home without it.
Nick: I know. That's why it's gonna be home with me and faith.
Sharon: What?
Nick: Faith and I are moving back to the tack house, Sharon.
Sharon: Why? We've been so happy.
Nick: Happy? How can we be happy? You're keeping things from me.
Sharon: I have told you everything I remember. That's the honest truth. You have to believe me. I'm not lying.
Nick: It's all a lie -- our family, our happiness!
[Glass shatters]
Nick: And I'm over it! I'm done!
Sharon: Nick, no! Please don't go! [Sighs] Nick... promise me you'll never go.
Nick: I'm not going anywhere.
Victor: Dr. Burnett, this is Victor Newman. Fine, thank you. Well, have you talked to Dr. Cutler about whether he would include Phyllis Newman in his clinical trial? At your medical conference in Chicago? I see. All right, I'll get back to you. Uh, Dr. Cutler's arriving at the airport. Uh, have a car waiting. Hi, sweetheart. I didn't hear you.
Nikki: Victor, Victor, my darling.
Victor: What?
Nikki: When will you ever learn?
Victor: Learn what?
Tyler: Girl, you really know how to turn it on.
Destiny: Well, I'm a professional. I aim to please.
Tyler: Yeah. Well, trust me -- you did all of that today and then some.
Destiny: Well, I hope that means you'll call me again.
Tyler: Yeah. You know, matter of fact, we have this -- Abby.
Abby: Aren't you gonna introduce me to your friend?
Destiny: Oh, hi. I'm destiny.
Abby: Destiny. That suits you.
Destiny: Thanks. I have to get to my next job.
Tyler: Yeah. Oh, destiny, by the way, thanks. You seriously were fantastic.
Abby: So, this is how you've been spending your time. And money.
Tyler: Why do you care?
Abby: I don't. I'm just surprised in your lack of taste. I don't know why, though. You were engaged to Mariah.
Austin: Excuse me.
Mariah: Are you starting early or finishing a long night?
Austin: Neither.
Mariah: Why are you here?
Austin: I'm looking for a job. Is the manager around?
Nick: Do you want to talk about your dream?
Sharon: You said you were leaving and you were taking faith with you. It was just so real.
Nick: It's not real. I'm right here.
Sharon: For how long?
Nick: I don't know. I was kind of thinking like forever.
Sharon: You've said that before, more than once. When things fell apart, you left, just like the dream.
Nick: That's not gonna happen this time.
Sharon: How do you know?
Nick: Because we're different people now. We're done hurting each other.
Sharon: That might not be true.
Nick: Why do you say that?
Sharon: Because once you find out what I did, you will be hurt.
Nick: Have you remembered something?
Victor: I don't know what you think you heard.
Nikki: I heard you on the phone making travel arrangements.
Victor: Oh, no, no. I made no such thing. That's not true. But come to think of it, I think a vacation would do you a lot of good.
Nikki: Leaving town is not the answer.
Victor: You've been under a lot of stress lately. You need to take care of yourself.
Nikki: I am. My M.S. Is under control, I'm following the doctor's instructions. In fact, I'm seeing him today.
Victor: Oh. Well, I'm sure that Dr. Costner would agree with me. I think a vacation would do you good. Why don't we go on the cruise that we were planning?
Nikki: I can't leave town right now.
Victor: Why?
Nikki: The judge is about to make his decision about this ridiculous lawsuit, and I want to be in town when he does. Besides, the family needs us.
Victor: Yeah. By the way, what the hell happened to Jack and Nicholas that they would allow Summer to marry the boy who shot Paul Williams?
Nikki: I know. Well, Summer's an adult. She doesn't need permission from anybody to marry anybody.
Victor: But I guarantee you if Phyllis were in town, she wouldn't allow it.
Nikki: For Summer's sake, I wish Phyllis were here.
Victor: So do I.
[Cell phone rings]
Austin: Hey, gorgeous.
Summer: Hi. Uh, you're not home.
Austin: How do you know that?
Summer: Because I'm at the new apartment. Oh, you have to see this place.
Austin: Well, I will be living there, thanks to the generosity of your father, so I'll be seeing it soon enough.
Summer: Okay. Well, hurry home. You have the address, right?
Austin: I do. I thought you were getting home later.
Summer: Um, yeah, well, I got an earlier flight, and I wanted to surprise you. So, surprise! Where are you?
Austin: I, uh, got an early start on this job-hunt thing. I'm actually filling out a job application right now.
Summer: Wait. What happened to the cameraman position?
Austin: They went another way.
Summer: You're so good behind the camera.
Austin: Don't think it was my skills that kept me from getting the job.
Summer: Look, don't let that get you down. You are smart, and you are super-talented, and I'm sure that you're gonna get the next job that you apply for.
Austin: Well, I should probably finish this application if that's gonna happen.
Summer: Well, hurry home, and then we can celebrate.
Austin: Before I get the job?
Summer: Mm, we can celebrate before and after. [Chuckles]
Austin: Well, I'll see you soon. [Chuckles] "Have you ever been convicted of a crime?" Not yet.
Mariah: Did you change your mind?
Austin: It doesn't matter. Nobody's gonna hire me anyway.
Mariah: Why not?
Austin: 'Cause I've been arrested.
Mariah: [Chuckling] Oh. Join the club. What'd you get busted for?
Austin: Uh, that's none of your business.
Mariah: You tell me yours, I'll tell you mine.
Tyler: Yeah, you're right. I was engaged to Mariah, and I was also engaged to you. Do you remember that?
Abby: Well, you wouldn't have been if I had known you were the kind of guy who liked to pay for it.
Tyler: [Scoffs] Okay, look. Destiny is not a hooker, all right? She's a model. We were up on the roof, finishing a photo shoot. And for the record, no, I'm not sleeping with her. Although that's actually none of your business, seeing as how you're the one who called off our engagement.
Abby: I had to. I hated the idea of the three of us being married -- you, me, Mariah.
Tyler: Abby, that's not even fair.
Abby: Oh, do you think I hurt Mariah's feelings?
Tyler: You set her up for stealing Noah's wallet. She could've gone to prison.
Abby: And that's why I broke up with you. You're always thinking about Mariah.
Tyler: Oh. I can't even believe we're having this conversation. How many times did I tell you? You were the woman that I loved. You, only you! You were the woman that I wanted to spend my life with.
Abby: I wanted actions, not words.
Tyler: Abby, I could've tattooed it across my forehead. It wouldn't have been good enough for you. You have got to be the most insecure woman that I have ever met in my entire life, and that is why we are not together.
Leslie: You feel better?
Nick: Sharon, tell me what's bothering you. Sharon?
Sharon: It's this damn secret. I can't help worrying what's gonna happen when it comes out.
Nick: I can't hear about this anymore, that it's gonna come out or that it's gonna hurt me. I mean, if I had nickel for every time I heard you say that --
Sharon: You'd be richer than you are now?
Nick: It's just -- let's talk about something else -- anything else.
Sharon: Okay. What do you want to talk about?
Nick: How about my cubbies?
Sharon: You know I'm not into sports.
Nick: Eh, that's true. We could always talk about what a stud I am.
Sharon: A stud, huh?
Nick: I mean, I don't want to brag, but...
Sharon: Okay. Well, do you want me to just list all the reasons why I love you?
Nick: Let's do that.
Sharon: Okay.
Nick: Let's do that. We should probably start with my physique, the body.
Sharon: Mm-hmm.
Nick: Then we could go to my irresistible charm. My basketball skills. Boom.
Sharon: Okay. Are you gonna stop and let me tell you the real reason?
Nick: Is it my dancing?
Sharon: Well, the main reason why I really love you is the way that you treat other people -- me and Noah and faith.
Nick: You're my family.
Sharon: Well, Mariah isn't. And you took her in, you gave her a job, you even made her a sandwich.
Nick: Yeah, I don't think she appreciated that.
Sharon: Well, I did, because I know how you feel about her, and in spite of that, you did all of that for her, and I really appreciate that. It means a lot to me.
Nick: I did it for you. I'll do anything for you.
Sharon: Nick...
Traci: Mmm. [Chuckles] Mm. There you are, honey. I hope you don't mind. I started without you. I usually...
Abby: Don't worry. I'll catch up.
Traci: ...Don't drink this early in the day.
Abby: Mmm. Why not? It's good for the soul, among other things.
Traci: Such as?
Abby: Lots of aches and pains. Can I get a refill?
Traci: Uh, Abby, we're booked into -- I have a whole day of pampering. There's no reason to rush.
Abby: Well, I suck at relationships, and now I can't even do a day at the spa right.
Traci: No, honey. What I meant to say was that I want you to relish every moment of this experience. You know, that's what the day's about -- we're supposed to relax and forget all of our problems with the men in our lives.
Abby: Are you gonna finish this?
Traci: Honey, what is going on?
Abby: I ran into Tyler downstairs, and he was with a woman, and --
Traci: Oh, no. Did you have a little scene?
Abby: I may have overreacted a little.
Traci: Abby, Abby...
Abby: I suck at handling breakups.
Traci: Everybody does, honey.
Abby: But why does it hurt so bad?
Traci: Because you still love him.
Abby: [Sighs]
Tyler: So, what are you doing here?
Leslie: I'm meeting a client, but since I overheard the conversation with you and Abby, what's up? You want to tell me what's going on with you two?
Tyler: Abby's just -- she's having trouble figuring out what she wants.
Leslie: Oh. What about you?
Tyler: I'm crystal clear.
Leslie: Really? Because, I mean, it sounded like there's unresolved feelings on both sides.
Tyler: Honestly, sis, I-I don't get women. I mean, maybe I just don't get Abby. When we first got together, it was like she was so easy to be with. She was fun. And then everything changed. She stopped trusting me. All we did was argue. It was like everything went from being great to just... I don't even know what happened.
Leslie: Mariah. That's what happened. I don't know why you let her back into your life, Ty.
Tyler: I didn't let her back into my life. She was stalking me.
Leslie: Yes, and then Victor had her hauled out of town, thrown into jail, which is probably where she would still be if you didn't ask Sharon to help her out.
Tyler: So, what? I was just supposed to turn my back on her?
Leslie: Uh, at this point, yes.
Tyler: How could I do that? She was the one person who kept me from going to prison.
Leslie: Are you forgetting that you would've never even faced those robbery charges if it weren't for Mariah? Honestly, I don't know how you got involved with her in the first place.
Tyler: Well, when you think that you love someone, it blinds you a lot.
[Doorbell rings]
Summer: Coming! Welcome ho-- grandma! Um, what are you doing here?
Nikki: Well, I came to see my granddaughter. Uh, bad time?
Summer: No, um... come in. Sorry. I just was expecting someone else.
Nikki: Ah. I see. Uh, your new husband, perhaps?
Summer: You heard?
Nikki: That you got married? Yes, your grandfather and I both heard, after the fact.
Summer: Um, I'm sorry. It was just a really small ceremony. I just threw everything together so --
Nikki: You know what, Summer? I've seen you send a text in five seconds.
Summer: You're right. I could have invited you. I just didn't think that you'd want to come.
Nikki: Because the man you married almost killed Paul?
Summer: Okay. Um, that was an accident.
Nikki: He also kidnapped Avery. He had a loaded gun.
Summer: I know, and he never meant to hurt Avery. Austin just wanted Avery to admit that she was wrong for defending the man that killed his mom.
Nikki: Are you saying that you think what he did was right?
Summer: No, that -- that's not what I'm saying. Neither does he. Austin's mom was taken from him because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and... that's really hard to accept.
Mariah: Identity theft. No? Uh, let me guess -- shoplifting? Oh, come on. You don't look like a gangbanger, so it must have been something harmless.
Austin: So, stealing is harmless.
Mariah: It can be noble. You know, like the whole robin hood deal. Steal from the rich, give to us?
Austin: Yeah, don't really have to guess what you were arrested for.
Mariah: Stupid one-percenters. They didn't even miss the stuff. Well, except the -- the last guy.
Austin: How did you get the job? Lie on your application?
Mariah: No, I didn't lie. You don't have to. You just have to smooth things over. Well, it wouldn't have done any good in my situation, though. The boss totally had my number.
Austin: And he still hired you? Must be a good guy.
Mariah: He's, uh -- he's all right. Of course, if anything goes missing around here, I am the first one that gets accused.
Austin: Well, you can't really blame him.
Mariah: [Chuckles] I guess not, but it would be nice to have somebody else on the payroll that they could point the finger at.
Austin: Oh, so if I fill this out, I'm doing you a favor.
Mariah: And yourself, maybe. You never know. The owner might take a chance on you like he did with me. Oh, and there he is now.
Nick: What are you doing here?
Mariah: You two know each other?
Nick: Oh, yeah. This is Summer's new husband.
Mariah: You're the guy that shot the chief of police? It's gonna be hard to smooth that on your application.
Nick: You didn't answer my question. What are you doing here?
Austin: Obviously wasting my time.
Mariah: He came to apply for a job.
Austin: And now I'm leaving. It was nice meeting you.
Nick: Hey. You want an interview or not? Sit down. Résumé? You earned a scholarship to film school? Earned several awards, interned at a big studio. Graduated with honors.
Austin: High honors.
Nick: Several jobs in the industry. Assistant to a director, cameraman... it's not bad. Seemed like you had your life together before this incident with Avery.
Austin: I did.
Nick: So a guy with all this experience and a college degree is willing to wash glasses for a living?
Austin: I'll do whatever it takes to support my wife.
Nick: Austin, Summer's more than capable of supporting herself.
Austin: Like I told Mr. Abbott, I won't be living off of Summer's money.
Nick: Okay. When can you start?
Austin: I'm hired?
Nick: Yeah, let's give it a shot. See how it goes.
Austin: You, uh -- you won't regret this.
Nick: Where you going?
Austin: I'm going to give Summer the good news.
Nick: Well, hurry back here. I want Mariah to show you the ropes.
Austin: Okay. Oh, and, um... thanks.
Nick: What?
Mariah: Nothing.
Summer: So, have you heard anything from the judge about your trial?
Nikki: No, not yet.
Summer: Why is it taking so long? I mean, it's obvious that this lawsuit is completely bogus.
Nikki: Hopefully, the judge will agree with you.
Summer: Why didn't you call me to testify? I could've easily told him what a sleaze Ian is.
Nikki: Honey, you had enough to deal with. But it seems you've had plenty of time to decorate. This apartment is beautiful. Did you do it yourself?
Summer: No, no, Jack had some designers come in and do it. He's just letting Austin and I stay here because he doesn't think that Austin's place was safe enough for us.
Nikki: Well, it's good that he and Nicholas are looking out for you.
Summer: Mm-hmm.
Nikki: Until Phyllis comes back to us, of course.
Summer: Yeah, I actually got to go and see her yesterday.
Nikki: Good. What did the doctor say?
Summer: Same thing as always -- no change.
Nikki: Honey, I'm so sorry.
Summer: It's okay. I haven't given up. I still believe that, somehow, she's gonna come back to us, and that's why I keep going down there. I want to feel connected to her. I want her to feel connected to me --
Nikki: And that's very important for both of you.
Summer: Yesterday, I actually got to tell her I had fallen in love and I'd gotten married. I'm totally unprepared, though, for Austin when he goes to prison. I don't know what I'm gonna do.
Nikki: Summer, your family will always be here for you. Now tell me about the wedding. I'll bet it was beautiful.
Summer: It was. I could not have pulled it off without Sharon's help.
Nikki: Sharon?
Summer: Yeah, Sharon has been amazing since mom's accident.
Dr. Mead: Breathe in through the nose...
Sharon: [Inhales deeply]
Dr. Mead: ...And out through the mouth.
Sharon: [Exhales deeply]
Dr. Mead: That's it.
Sharon: [Inhales deeply]
Dr. Mead: In through the nose...
Sharon: [Exhales deeply] [Sighs] It's not working.
Dr. Mead: Sharon, that's the third time I've tried to put you under.
Sharon: I don't know what's wrong.
Dr. Mead: Sometimes the subconscious puts up a wall if you don't want to be hypnotized.
Sharon: No, I do.
Dr. Mead: Sharon, did something happen today?
Sharon: I had another one of those flash memories. That's why I want you to hypnotize me. I have to try to figure out what these memories mean.
Dr. Mead: You still haven't figured out what this secret is that you've been keeping from nick.
Sharon: No, and it's just so frustrating, knowing that there's something in there that I can't get to.
Dr. Mead: How are things at home?
Sharon: They're good. Nick moved back in. The kids are happy. We're finally a family again.
Dr. Mead: But you're still worried.
Sharon: [Sighs] It doesn't make any sense. I finally have everything I've ever wanted, and yet I can't help being scared.
Dr. Mead: Sharon, what are you afraid of?
Sharon: That I'll lose it all.
Victor: Thank you for coming by, doc. Anything I can get you?
Dr. Cutler: I'm supposed to be at a medical conference in Chicago.
Victor: Well, I will have you there in no time at all. But first, I'd like to ask you some questions regarding your treatment of coma patients. Please have a seat.
Dr. Cutler: Well, all of my findings are available online.
Victor: Yes, I read them. But I still have some questions. And by the way, the contribution I made to your clinic has no strings attached at all.
Dr. Cutler: What would you like to know?
Victor: I remember reading that... the responsiveness to your treatment varies from patient to patient. Is that true?
Dr. Cutler: Anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, yes.
Victor: Aha. But patients do respond.
Dr. Cutler: Every one of them, yes.
Victor: Have you had a chance to read... the medical records of Phyllis Newman?
Dr. Cutler: She's an excellent candidate for my drug trial.
Victor: Really? When can she begin?
Abby: Is Tyler right? Am I insecure?
Traci: Well, um...
Abby: Does the fact that I have to even ask that question prove that I am?
Traci: Abby, what I was gonna say is, well, everyone is insecure about something. It doesn't mean that you don't have a ton of other fantastic qualities.
Abby: Name one.
Traci: You're smart, you're funny, you're sensitive. I could go on.
Abby: But you might be the tiniest bit biased, aunt Traci.
Traci: Oh, Abby, when have you ever known me to be anything less than 100% honest?
Abby: Yeah, but I'm far from perfect. My life's a mess. It might look good from the outside, but I have all the same problems everyone else does, just with a bigger bank account.
Traci: We've both been blessed in that area and just not so lucky in others.
Abby: Especially in the love department.
Traci: Steve and I had a lot of really good years. It was only after we lost colleen that... I don't know. Maybe we should have called it quits sooner.
Abby: Why didn't you?
Traci: Fear. Letting go of my marriage meant... letting go of everything. And the thought of that scared me more than being unhappy for the rest of my life.
Victor: I would like to enroll Phyllis Newman in your trial as soon as that is possible.
Dr. Cutler: I said she was a suitable candidate. I didn't say she was in.
Victor: And how do we make that happen?
Dr. Cutler: I need the approval of ms. Newman's family, allowing her to participate in the trial. Once we have that, she can begin.
Victor: As I discussed with Dr. Burnett, I'd rather not have any of her family involved in this. That might pose a problem. Her daughter, Summer, who happens to be my granddaughter, has gone through a lot lately, and I don't want her to get her hopes up only to have them dashed in case the treatment doesn't work.
Dr. Cutler: Well, I appreciate your concerns. But I have to protect the integrity of my work. If there are improprieties at any stage of the process, I could lose my funding.
Victor: Yeah. I understand that. What if I funded the entire trial? Would you then accept ms. Newman into your treatment?
Dr. Cutler: Get her family's consent... and she can participate in the study.
Nikki: I didn't realize you and Sharon had gotten so close.
Summer: Yeah, no, it started when Neal hired her to mentor the models at Jabot, and I was going through a really tough time. Sharon just really helped me through it.
Nikki: Well, it sounds like she helped to fill the void left by your mother.
Summer: No, she always said that she could never replace mom. Who could, anyways? At least now I have Austin to lean on.
Nikki: You'll always have your family.
Summer: I know. Just Austin's my husband now. I just wish I knew what he liked to eat.
Nikki: Well, maybe your aunt Avery can give you a few recipes.
Summer: Yeah, maybe. I just -- I really suck in the kitchen. I'm sorry. I kind of take after my mom.
Nikki: Mm.
[Door opens]
Austin: Hey, guess who got a job.
Summer: Hi! Hi.
Austin: Hi. I didn't realize you had company.
Summer: Well, you got the job? That's great! Congrats, babe.
Nikki: Yes, congratulations.
Austin: Thanks. I'm surprised to see you here. I -- I know you're a friend of Paul's.
Nikki: Yes, I am. But I'm also Summer's grandmother.
Austin: Look, about what happened... I never meant to hurt anyone. And I didn't think things through. And I tried to apologize to the chief, but --
Nikki: You know, Paul paid a heavy price for that. So did my son.
Austin: What I did was stupid and it was reckless, and I know there is no excuse. But I was really messed up after my mom died, and I didn't have anyone to help me through.
Summer: Now he does.
Austin: I screwed up. I know that. And I am so lucky to have Summer love me.
Nikki: Yes, you are. So I suggest you do everything you possibly can to make sure you never hurt her or anybody that I care about ever again. Oh, my dear Summer. Goodbye. I'll see you another time.
Summer: Okay. Thank you.
Abby: Thank you.
Traci: Thank you.
Abby: Do you like this color?
Traci: Yes, it's nice.
Abby: Is it right for someone who's back on the market?
Traci: Abby, do you like it?
Abby: You know, that is one of the many things I love about you, aunt Traci. You're not trying to reinvent yourself to make a man fall in love with you.
Traci: Oh, Abby, I don't think you'd do that.
Abby: Oh, really? Uh, well, let's review. [Chuckles] First, there was Daniel. I acted like I was into art and painting. I'm not.
[Both chuckle]
Abby: Then there was carmine slumming it with Mr. All pecs and no brains. Fortunately, I got over that one, and I moved on to Alex, my cops-and-robbers phase. Yeah. There's lots of handcuffs involved in that.
Traci: Okay. Too much information.
[Both chuckle]
Abby: And then there was Tyler.
Traci: Were you pretending with him?
Abby: I thought Tyler was the one. Shows what I know, right?
Traci: Abby, you know, I've had my share of rocky relationships, as well, in my youth. There was one particularly painful one when I was in college. It was a train wreck, followed by an unsuccessful one right after that, and I was in a really, really bad place. Dad was worried about me. He decided that it was time for me to go to Europe for an extended trip. He wanted me to see that there were so many other possibilities in life. So I went. And I was surprised and amazed and completely blown away by something almost every single day. And then I came home, and in spite of all the things that I had seen and done, all the miraculous, amazing things, I realized that here, this family, this is where I belonged.
Abby: So, are you saying that I'm backpacking through life right now?
Traci: Exactly.
[Both chuckle]
Traci: And you really need to enjoy it, and you need to take away something from every single experience.
Abby: But how will I know when I'm home?
Traci: Oh, sweet girl, you will know.
Austin: I never thought of putting marshmallow spread, jalapeño jelly, and dill pickles together.
Summer: Maybe that's because it's disgusting. [Chuckles] I don't even know how to make a decent sandwich.
Austin: Hey. It's the first sandwich that you ever made me. That's what I'll remember when I'm in prison.
Summer: Look, I don't want to talk about that right now. Just tell me about your job.
Austin: I didn't want to say anything with your grandma around.
Summer: What? You got the job, didn't you?
Austin: Yeah. It's just, um... I'm gonna be working for your dad.
Summer: Jack hired you at Jabot?
Austin: No. Uh, nick. I'm gonna be working at the underground.
Summer: Really?
Austin: Yeah. I had no idea that he owned the place, and I almost didn't turn in my application when I found out.
Summer: Well, I'm glad that you did.
Austin: Yeah, me, too. It seems pretty cool.
Summer: Mm-hmm.
Austin: Especially this one girl -- Mariah.
Summer: Mariah? Mariah is not cool. And you need to stay far away from that girl.
Mariah: You know, you're gonna start to get a reputation if you don't watch out.
Nick: Of what?
Mariah: As a nice guy. First you hire me and now Summer's husband.
Nick: Well, you're here so you can pay back Sharon the money you owe her.
Mariah: And so you can keep an eye on me?
Nick: And right now, I'm watching you not work.
Mariah: Ooh. I take back what I said about you being nice.
Nick: Mm-hmm.
Mariah: So, did you hire Austin so you could keep an eye out on him, too? You know, keep your friends close, your enemies closer?
Nick: Who said he's my enemy?
Mariah: Oh, come on. The dude shot a cop and then married your little girl. Are you telling me you actually like him?
Nick: I respect what he's trying to do. He's trying to own up to his mistakes and make things right for Summer before he goes to prison. It's not easy.
Mariah: You make it sound like you've been there.
Nick: I know what it feels like to fall in love for the first time and to think that it might be taken away from you.
Nikki: Oh, Sharon. Hi. Um... I'm glad I ran into you.
Sharon: You are?
Nikki: Yes, I -- I want to thank you.
Sharon: For what?
Nikki: Well, I just saw Summer. It hasn't been an easy year for her, finding out that Nicholas isn't her father and Phyllis' accident. She really needed some stability in her life, and you gave her that.
Sharon: I'm sorry that she has to go through all of that.
Nikki: Well, I'm afraid I owe you an apology. I've been pretty hard on you.
Sharon: I did some terrible things to you and your family.
Nikki: Yes, but I should have realized it was because of your condition.
Sharon: Thank you so much for saying that.
Nikki: Mental illness is a disease just like my M.S. Victor was wrong to exploit your sickness and to abuse Cassie's memory. I know how hard it was for you when we lost her.
Sharon: For all of us.
Nikki: I know why Nicholas didn't want to take the paternity test. He was desperate to fill the hole in his heart after losing her. I'm just sorry, the way things turned out. I don't know. Maybe... this is how things are supposed to be.
Sharon: Maybe.
Nikki: Well, I have an appointment. It was good to see you.
Abby: What if I blew my one chance at love with Tyler?
Traci: Oh, Abby, I don't believe that.
Abby: But I just want to be home.
Traci: Everyone does.
Abby: Okay. So how do we get there?
Traci: I don't know about you, honey. I know that, for me, I'm going to be traveling alone for a while. I have to figure out who I am now before I can be someone else's significant other.
Abby: You're right. Who needs a man?
Traci: I'm talking about what
I need. Only you can find out what you need and, more importantly, Abby, what you want.
Tyler: Why do women have to be so damn complicated?
Leslie: Men have been asking that same question since Adam met eve.
Tyler: Is it really that hard for y'all to trust us?
Leslie: Um, I think it's ourselves we don't trust. I mean, we find the perfect guy, and we get scared. We're afraid he's gonna walk away. So we walk first.
Tyler: See, that's exactly what I'm talking about. You complicate everything.
Leslie: Hey, listen, some people make it work. Look at Austin and Summer. Let me tell you, those two are not letting anything get in their way.
Tyler: Well...
[Cell phone beeps]
Leslie: Uh-oh. May have spoken too soon.
Tyler: Why? What's up?
Leslie: They set a trial date for Austin's case.
Austin: Well, this Mariah seems like a piece of work. [Chuckles]
Summer: Yeah, don't let that sweet face fool you. She's bad news.
Austin: Okay. I'll keep my guard up. It'll be good practice for when I'm around all those inmates I can't trust.
Summer: Please, stop. Don't joke about that. The last thing that I want to think about is you going to prison.
Austin: Look, you're gonna have to think about it eventually.
Summer: Well, I don't want to think about that today. All I want to talk about is us. Okay?
[Doorbell rings]
Summer: Oh, I swear, I was not this popular before I got married.
Austin: Just tell them that we're busy.
Summer: Grandpa.
Victor: Hi, sweetheart.
Summer: If you're looking for grandma --
Victor: I am here to see you.
Sharon: Oh, Mariah, is nick here?
Mariah: Yeah, he's in the back. You okay?
Sharon: Yeah, I just -- I'm just gonna see if he wanted to go to lunch. Oh. Thank you.
Mariah: Can I help you with something?
Sharon: You know what? I had another one of those memories today, and I think this might be something really important.
Nick: What happened? What'd you remember?
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Mariah: You afraid that I'm gonna try to move in on your man? Well, you can relax. I have my eyes on somebody else.
Sharon: There might be someone who could help me sort things out.
Nick: Who?
Sharon: I should go to Georgia and visit Phyllis.
Neil: Where were you? No, better yet, why -- why were you out there?
