Episode # 10431 ~ Jack & Nick work together to help Summer; friends & family rush to the hospital.

Provided By Suzanne

Kelly: Well, now that we've christened my new bedroom...

Jack: Is that what we're calling it -- "christening"?

Kelly: ...I have to warn you I have absolutely nothing to offer you. My fridge is completely empty -- not even a stray soy-sauce packet -- and all I have is water from the tap.

Jack: I have every faith in the Genoa City municipal services.

Kelly: [Chuckles]

Jack: Tap water will be good.

Kelly: Okay.

[Cell phone rings]

Jack: That's my phone. You know what? I'll let it go to voicemail.

Kelly: That's okay. You can get it. I'll go see if I can find some glasses. I'll be back.

Jack: [Groans] Hello. Jack Abbott.

Mark: This is detective Harding, Genoa City P.D. We're looking for your daughter.

Jack: Summer? Why?

Austin: Summer!

Summer: Austin?

Austin: I wasn't sure that you'd come.

Summer: Yeah, I'm not sure that I should have -- not after what you did. How could you, Austin?

Dylan: Avery, hey. How'd your statement go? Yeah, I'm glad it's behind you. No, no, no. Don't come here. Just stay home. Get some rest. You've been through a lot. There's nothing that you can do here. I'm fine. I'm fine, I promise. Just call me, no matter how late, okay? And be safe. Make sure everything's locked up. I love you.

Lauren: I finally reached Christine.

Michael: Good. Good.

Lauren: Um, she landed in Nashville for a business trip, and that's why her cell phone was off.

Michael: Is she on her way back?

Lauren: Yeah. She's trying to get a ticket back right now.

Michael: Let's hope that works out.

Lauren: Is -- is -- is Paul...

Michael: No change -- the same. Things still look pretty bad. Dylan...how's Avery doing?

Dylan: Uh, you know, physically, she's okay. That's what the doctors say.

Lauren: Where is she now?

Dylan: Kevin and Courtney drove her to the police station. She had to make a statement. I don't know why she had to do it tonight, with everything she's been through.

Mark: McAvoy, what are you still doing here?

Dylan: Well, I-I want to make sure Paul pulls through.

Mark: Yeah, well, that's your guilty conscience.

Michael: Now, hold on. Care to explain yourself, detective?

Mark: He's the reason chief got shot.

Lauren: Dylan is?

Mark: Yeah. You didn't hear? Captain wow here wanted to be the big hero, and he rushed in, even after Paul specifically told him not to go after Travers.

Michael: Enough! Enough!

Mark: He needs to leave.

Michael: All right, and you need to back off.

Dylan: You got a problem? Let's discuss it. This isn't the time or place.

[Alarm blaring]

Lauren: Oh, my god. Oh, my god! Paul?!

Neil: This is one of my favorite places -- a little short-staffed, but I know how that goes.

Hilary: You know, Neil, you didn't have to bring me here, you know, to a place like this.

Neil: What are you talking about, "a place like this"? Oh. Y-you mean "too young."

Sharon: Well, I think Mariah's doing a pretty good job for her first night, don't you think?

Nick: Well, she's had waitress experience, so this is something she can handle -- delivering drinks.

Sharon: Well, thanks again for hiring her. I know you weren't that thrilled about her staying in Genoa City.

Nick: Excuse me. Uh, you know what? I can do that.

Mariah: No, it's okay. I know how to operate a register, Nick.

Nick: It's okay. I think I just want you focusing on delivering drinks.

Mariah: You don't trust me, do you?

Nikki: It looks like it's just gonna be you and me tonight, and we're gonna have all kinds of fun. Now, what shall we do first, huh? Come here. Come on. Let's go on the sofa. Let's see. We could watch a movie, or we could -- [Gasps] We could color together. We've done that before. What do you think of that?

Victor: Well, look who's here.

Nikki: I didn't think you would be home tonight.

Victor: I can see that. Did you have a good time with Grammy? Did you have a good time with Grammy?

Nikki: Yes, we are having a very good time. The last time I talked to you, you said you were gonna be out of town on business.

Victor: Had a change of plans.

Nikki: Well, I'm watching Johnny for Victoria. She needed a break, and here we are.

Victor: You decided to bring him here... where you belong. Yeah. Look at that. Do one here. Do you know that I went horseback riding today on a big horsey? And I rode all the way down to the creek, and then I saw a big butterfly, and it landed on a log right near the creek. And I know that you would have been chasing it, wouldn't you?

Nikki: I'll bet the wildflowers were beautiful.

Victor: You know something? Your mummy was as old as you are now when I taught her how to ride. Yeah.

Nikki: I'll never forget the first time she got her little riding habit. She was so excited...and thrilled to be going riding with you. She wanted you to be so proud of her.

Victor: And she succeeded. Let's go like this. There. Yes. That's a good one. Are you looking at the picture? Everything is as it was... ready for you to come home.

Nikki: Victor, I wouldn't read too much into my being here.

Victor: Oh, I'm not reading too much into it.

Nikki: Okay.

Victor: There.

Sharon: Um...how is the woman supposed to do her job if she can't ring up customers when there's no one else behind the register? I mean, Noah had to leave.

Nick: Yeah, well, I'm behind the bar. I'm taking care of all that.

Sharon: But that doesn't answer my question.

Nick: Well, here's the thing. Mariah was just let out of jail for, uh -- [Snaps fingers] What was it? Oh, stealing. And it was from someone she knew, so...

Sharon: Well, if you don't trust her, then why did you hire her? Was it just for me?

Nick: That and I also needed the help.

Sharon: Well, I think you should give her a chance to prove herself, to pay me back the money she owes me.

Nick: Oh, she's gonna have a chance.

Sharon: Really? Or are you secretly hoping that Mariah will do something really wrong and you can justify running her out of town?

Hilary: Neil, what I meant was that trendy is fine, okay? But I'm not partial to it.

Neil: Oh.

Hilary: I like a lot of the same things you do, you know -- jazz clubs, symphony concerts, places that are a little more upscale.

Neil: No, no. I feel you. I really do. But, you know, see, I like to mix things up a little bit. I like all types of music. I do.

Hilary: Mm-hmm.

Neil: Yeah, and Nick -- he has really good taste. That's one of the signatures of this club. Every week, there's a different band. That's why I brought you here, not because I thought that you would feel more comfortable with this -- what is it? -- This young crowd or whatever.

Hilary: Really?

Neil: [Chuckling] Yeah! Yeah, really. Why? Don't you believe me?

Hilary: You're the one that went there, Neil -- brought up the age difference right away. It kind of makes me wonder if it's more of an issue for you than you're saying.

Summer: I don't understand any of this!

Austin: Okay. Summer, just keep your voice down.

Summer: I cannot believe that you shot the chief of police!

Austin: That's not how it happened.

Summer: You admitted to it. You were at your apartment with Avery -- had a gun pointed to her when the cops showed up!

Austin: Just listen.

Summer: Why would you do that to my aunt? I -- who are you?

Austin: You know.

Summer: No, I don't! No, my dad was right. You're a complete stranger! I don't know the first thing about you! I don't know if anything that you even told me was true!

Austin: Just give me a chance to explain. I need you to trust me.

Summer: No. Why should I not call the cops right now?

Austin: No, please. Look...stop. Summer, I need you.

Kelly: Have you tried calling Summer?

Jack: It went straight to voicemail. This guy she's smitten with is on the run. She's not answering her phone. This does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Kelly: Okay, I'm gonna go with you.

Jack: Uh --

Kelly: It doesn't matter what Summer thinks about me, okay? All that matters is that we find her and that we make sure that she's safe, right?

Jack: Yeah. Come on. Let's go.

Kelly: Okay.

Lauren: Is Paul okay? What was that horrible alarm?

Michael: Uh, that was his blood-pressure monitor. The doctor says his readings are all over the place.

Dylan: Yeah. Anytime you lose that much blood, it's just --

Michael: That was the gist of it. Surgery should stop the bleeding, but at this point, anything could happen.

Dylan: Gunshots are bad news. Depending on the range and the type of --

Lauren: Ooh, can we not go into the details? I'm sorry.

Michael: Anyway, they're keeping a very close eye on Paul's blood volume. They're especially worried about the damage to the liver.

Dylan: For not being family, you got a lot of information out of the guy.

Michael: Didn't I ever tell you? I'm Paul's brother -- his next of kin while his wife is out of town.

Dylan: I see.

Michael: Oh, that reminds me -- I've been leaving messages for Paul's real brothers -- father Todd, Steve.

Lauren: Yeah? What about patty?

Michael: [Sighs] I have a call in to her doctor at the psych hospital. They can determine the best way to break it to her, especially if, you know, it's the worst news.

Mark: Hey, don't -- don't talk like that. Chief's gonna make it.

Dylan: Of course he's gonna make it.

Mark: You better pray he does.

Michael: What did I tell you?

Dylan: It's all right. He's just blowing off steam.

Mark: The acting chief texted me to be back at the station. This isn't over.

Lauren: He's -- we're all -- just tense.

Dylan: Harding's not wrong.

Lauren: What do you mean?

Dylan: I'm responsible.

Lauren: That is not true.

Dylan: Yeah, it is. I ignored Paul's warning. I rushed in with no plan, no police. But Avery was in trouble.

Michael: And you would do anything for the woman that you love.

Jack: Okay. The gal behind the counter said Summer hasn't been here during her shift.

Kelly: No one on the patio has seen her, either.

Jack: She wasn't at Phyllis' condo. Fen hasn't heard from her.

Kelly: What about her friends? Is there anybody that we could call?

Jack: That's the whole thing. We're just getting to know each other. I have a grown daughter. I know nothing about her life.

Kelly: Jack, don't feel too bad. I mean, there are parents who've raised their kids since birth who feel the same way.

Jack: I wish I had a relationship with her where she could trust me, open up to me. That's why she hasn't picked up the phone -- at least, I hope so. The other possibility frightens the hell out of me.

Kelly: What, you're afraid that she's with Austin?

Jack: This guy was dangerous before. Now he's desperate. If Summer isn't picking up, it's very possible she is with him, and if she is, she could be in danger and not even know it.

Kelly: And you feel responsible?

Jack: Yes, I feel responsible! I'm her father! I'm supposed to protect her -- at least teach her to be a better judge of character.

Kelly: And when were you supposed to do that? You've had very little time with her. Even under the best of circumstances, teenage girls don't really share intimate details of their life with their father.

Jack: I can think of one person who knows her habits a hell of a lot better than I do. [Inhales deeply] Come on.

Nick: So, then the credit-card slips go under here, underneath the bills.

Mariah: Got it.

Nick: Any other questions?

Mariah: No, but I have something to say to you.

Nick: Okay. What do you got?

Mariah: I might not have been as gracious as I could have been about the job offer, but, to be honest, it was pretty obvious that you were just offering it to me to keep an eye on me, to protect Sharon, which, by the way, I think is awesome, you know, to have someone who cares about you that much.

Nick: Well, Sharon was determined to help you. She really wanted to give you a second chance, and I wasn't gonna battle over it.

Mariah: And I am really grateful for that. And, look -- I know that it doesn't make up for what I did to Sharon. But I would really like to pay her back the money that I owe her. She really stepped up for me in Portland, I guess to prove that I'm worth it so maybe I'd believe it, too. Anyway, that's all I wanted.

Nick: Well, I hope that's true, Mariah, because Sharon's been hurt enough.

Neil: Okay, let me explain something. The way I see it, the difference in our ages -- it's just another fact, another element, of who we are. I mean, we -- we have a lot in common. Don't you agree? We share the same interests. We're very passionate about life. We're passionate about each other, you know? I mean, we're only a few years apart.

Hilary: A little.

Neil: Okay. Okay. All right. So we're more than a few years apart. I-I agree. But what is age, anyway? It's just a number. But, as you said, I must have brought it up for a reason, so a part of me has to wonder, does it really matter to you?

Hilary: Neil, do you not know by now how much -- how much I care about you, how you make me feel?

[Cell phone rings]

Neil: Hold up. Sorry. Oh, look -- Forrester creations.

Hilary: You've been waiting for that call all day. It's important. You should take it.

Neil: Yeah, but --

Hilary: Okay. If you don't, I will.

Neil: All right. I want you to do me a favor. I want you to hold that other thought, all right?

Hilary: Mm-hmm.

Neil: Okay. Yeah. Neil winters. What? No, I can't hear -- rick. Let me go somewhere where it's a little more quiet.

Sharon: Hey, stranger!

Hilary: Sharon, hey! Sit, sit!

Sharon: Hey! I just saw you sitting here with Neil, and I thought I would say hi. This is kind of a crazy place for a business meeting.

Hilary: Um, actually... it's a date.

Sharon: What?! You and Neil?

Hilary: Yeah.

Sharon: When did you two --

Hilary: Um, we started seeing each other a few weeks ago, and it's going really well, so we decided to move in together, and -- [Chuckles]

Sharon: Okay, now I really feel out of the loop. Congratulations.

Hilary: Thank you.

Sharon: I see that things are really moving forward in your life.

Hilary: Yeah, and don't feel out of the loop. We're -- we're kind of keeping it low-key until his family gets adjusted to the idea. It's [Chuckles] It's been a bit of a process.

Sharon: Yeah, I know what it's like to be the, um, unpopular choice.

Hilary: Yeah. I'll never forget what you told me when we first spoke -- "some people are just never gonna forgive you for the things that you've done wrong, so to hell with them."

Sharon: Seems like Neil's gotten over it, though.

Hilary: Yeah, maybe, but his family still thinks that we got involved too fast and it's a rebound thing after Leslie. Depending on who you speak to, I am either not worth the trouble or the devil herself.

Sharon: You know what? It doesn't matter what other people think. What matters is what you think and whether you're sure.

Hilary: I've never been in a real, grown-up relationship before -- you know, something that I could imagine lasting. And then Neil came into my life, and it hit me -- this is what it must be like to be with somebody who makes you feel safe and secure and --

Sharon: Who makes you feel loved like never before.

Hilary: Exactly. And that's how it is with Neil and me. Everything is just so stable.

Sharon: There is nothing like finding the right man -- someone who you can't wait to see, you can't wait for him to take you in his arms at the end of the day, and you love him so much that your heart aches.

Neil: Hey, ladies! Sharon, it's good to see you, my friend.

Sharon: Neil, likewise! You know, Hilary was just telling me the good news about you two moving in together.

Neil: Right. Isn't that great?

Hilary: [Chuckles]

Jack: Nick, can I have a word?

Nick: Yeah. What's up?

Jack: We are looking for Summer. Any idea where she is?

Nick: No. Is everything all right?

Jack: Except Phyllis, you know her better than anyone else. You would know where she would go, how she might handle a situation like this.

Nick: What situation? What happened?

Jack: This has to do with a guy she's been going out with.

Kelly: His name's Austin Travers.

Nick: What did he do? Did he hurt Summer?

Austin: Okay, well, wait. Just wait, okay? I did not want to hurt anyone.

Summer: You had a gun, Austin!

Austin: I just wanted Avery to confess.

Summer: Confess to what? What are you talking about?

Austin: Boz foreman, repeat offender. He -- he killed someone during a robbery. He should have gone to jail for it, but Avery defended him, and she got him off.

Summer: Yeah, it's terrible, but it happens every day, Austin. Why do you care so much about this case?

Austin: Because after she got him free, he went on -- he went on to kill my mother.

Summer: Your mom -- that's how she died?

Austin: I swear, I did not want to hurt Avery, but I wanted her to face what she had done by getting that -- that animal turned loose. I wanted her to confess on camera for everyone to see. I wanted someone to take the blame. I wanted someone to make it go away.

Summer: Make what go away?

Austin: This hurt I have. I just -- I don't -- I don't want to feel it anymore.

Summer: So, this is what you were talking about? This is what you had to finish and why you had to leave?

Austin: I couldn't stand walking away from you like that, but I couldn't tell you and expect you to understand.

Summer: Maybe I do, Austin. Maybe I understand more than you think.

[Mid-tempo classical piano music playing]

[Music stops]

Nikki: I didn't know you were there.

Victor: Don't stop.

Nikki: I so love this sheet music you got me for Christmas. I really do.

Victor: I got it for you... ...because I love to hear you play.

Nikki: Want to hear some more?

Victor: Yeah. Lovely.

[Music resumes]

[Music stops]

Victor: Baby... without you... it's so damn empty around here, you know? I don't like it without you.

Nikki: You... are the most unpredictable [Sighs] Frustrating, challenging man I have ever known, ever.

Victor: And you love it. Let's go upstairs.

Nikki: There's no piano upstairs.

Victor: Doesn't make any difference.

Nikki: [Laughs]

[Doorbell rings]

Victor: Oh.

Nikki: Oh, no.

Victor: This is not a good time.

Dylan: I-I need to see Nikki. She wasn't at the club. I was hoping to --

Nikki: Dylan. What's wrong? Are you upset? What's happened?

Dylan: Paul's been shot.

Nikki: Oh, my god.

Victor: Paul Williams?

Dylan: It sounds like his liver's pretty torn up, and he lost a lot of blood.

Victor: Are you serious?

Nikki: Oh, my god. He's -- he's gonna be okay, though, right?

Dylan: You know doctors. They don't say much. He did have a bit of an episode earlier.

Victor: What kind of an episode?

Dylan: An alarm went off, and I guess his blood pressure fell too low, and all the doctors and nurses rushed in.

Nikki: Oh, my god! Victor!

Dylan: They got him stabilized, but it's scary. I mean, Paul's pretty rough.

Nikki: I have to go to the hospital.

Victor: I'm so sorry to hear that.

Nikki: I have to go. Oh, my god -- the baby. The baby's here.

Victor: Don't worry about the baby. I'll call Victoria. He is fast asleep, okay? And, by the way, my darling, I don't want you to drive by yourself. You're too upset right now. Have one of the guards take you, okay?

Nikki: All right, I-I will. Thank you. Dylan, thank you for telling us. Thank you.

Victor: Have one of the guards take you, sweetheart.

Nikki: All right. Pray!

Victor: Okay.

[Door slams]

Dylan: That's not everything that happened.

Victor: What else happened?

Dylan: Avery was kidnapped and threatened with a gun. She's, uh -- she's -- she's fine. She insists she's fine. You know what? She's home right now. I-I got to go.

Victor: Dylan... there's something I want to say to you.

Summer: I understand everything so much better now.

Austin: I'm sorry that I involved you in this. Look, I never should have called you. I just -- I thought...

Summer: You -- you thought what?

Austin: You've been a real friend to me, Summer, and I've told you things that I have -- I've never talked about with anyone. And you seem to really care, you know? And -- and -- and it went both ways.

Summer: Yeah, but you just can't go holding people at gunpoint because life's unfair. But I-I understand now why you did it.

Mariah: So, this chick Summer -- she was the girl who was here earlier, right -- the blond bombshell?

Sharon: Yes, that's her.

Mariah: Well, I thought that she was Nick's daughter. But this is her dad? What -- what's that about?

Sharon: Um, it's a long and complicated story. See, Nick did raise Summer with her mother. That was Nick's second wife. But then it came out last year that Jack is actually Summer's biological father. Nick had known all along that there was some doubt about the paternity, but he kept it to himself until something came up where he just couldn't do that anymore.

Mariah: And Summer's mom?

Sharon: Uh, that's Phyllis -- the one who's in the coma.

Mariah: Wait, the one who knows about --

Sharon: She knows my secret, yes.

Nick: [Sighs] Noah has no idea where Summer is, either.

Sharon: Well, have you tried Courtney?

Nick: I've tried every one of Summer's friends. If this guy Austin has her --

Jack: We don't know that that is the case.

Nick: Are you kidding me? This guy threatened Avery. He is the reason that Paul is in e hospital. Summer's young and vulnerable. She will believe every word this guy says to her.

Nikki: Michael.

Michael: Oh, Nikki.

Nikki: Dylan just told me the news. I can't believe it.

Michael: We're all still in shock.

Nikki: Oh, Paul.

Michael: All right, Nikki, listen to me -- Paul is holding his own. There have been no changes since Dylan left.

Lauren: I'm so glad that he found you so he could tell you in person.

Nikki: He looks so pale.

Michael: He's been through a lot.

Nikki: He -- he's gonna be okay, though, right?

Michael: The doctors have been very guarded.

Lauren: But he got through surgery, and that's something.

Nikki: Where's Christine?

Lauren: She's out of town. I got to her, and she's on the next flight.

Nikki: Oh, thank god.

Michael: What's her E.T.A.?

Lauren: Any time.

Nikki: Oh, she must be out of her mind with worry.

Michael: It's okay.

Lauren: Doctor, has there been any improvement?

Michael: Yeah, look -- we're all relatives. Please, if you have any information on Paul's condition --

The bullet severely injured his liver. He's lost over half his blood volume.

Nikki: Oh, my god!

We're replacing his blood and fluids, but he's in shock. If the hemorrhaging resumes, we'll have to go in again.

Lauren: Can he survive that?

Michael: Look, I'm sure the doctors are doing everything they can.

Nikki: Doctor, c-can I please go in?

Lauren: Nikki, he's unconscious.

Nikki: I know, but he'll know that I'm there. I'm sure of that. Please, I'll make it very brief. Thank you.

Nikki: [Sighs] Paul... Paul, honey, it's me. It's Nikki. I'm right here. I know this sounds very selfish of me... but after everything I've put you through... you've got to come through this, okay? Because I need you. I need you so much.

[Footsteps approach]

Neil: Hey, I-I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but tomorrow, as you know, is gonna be father's day, and I'm gonna be getting my son Moses.

Hilary: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it. I will make myself scarce.

Neil: No! Why would -- why would you -- why would you say that?

Hilary: Neil, your son -- he's at an impressionable age, okay? I wouldn't want to do anything to confuse him or complicate things on what is supposed to be a nice day.

Neil: Okay. Can I tell you something? It's not gonna be confusing. And, you know, you live with me now.

Hilary: Is Sofia aware of that?

Neil: Yeah, Sofia is aware of it. Hey, Hilary, I would love for you to be part of the celebration tomorrow with me and my son.

Hilary: And so would Devon and lily. They'd love to be a part of it, too -- father's day -- but not if I'm there.

Neil: Okay.

Hilary: Yeah.

Neil: Mm.

Hilary: Mm.

Neil: Devon -- he wouldn't dare miss father's day. As for lily, you know, she's gonna have to make her own choices. I can't change the way she feels, you know? I just wish things were different, but they're not. If she's gonna boycott us on father's day, then so be it. The problem is if you have a problem with lily's bad attitude, then that's a totally different story.

Hilary: No. This is my life, too, and all that goes with it.

Jack: Summer is a bright, strong, capable woman, like her mother. She can take care of herself.

Nick: But she still makes so many mistakes. I mean, do you remember when she took all those energy pills, Jack? She could have died. And then when she got into that fight with Phyllis, took off in her car and caused an accident --

Jack: She has learned from her mistakes. She has changed. She is a different person now.

Nick: But in so many ways, she is still a kid. Do you think you know Summer better than me, Jack? You've only been her dad for like a year.

Jack: No, I don't think I know her better than you do. That's why I came to you in the first place. We both love her as a daughter. We both want her safe. Can we put our feelings aside and try to make that happen?

Nick: Okay. Have you ever met this Austin? I mean, what's his story? What's he capable of?

Jack: Yeah, we met him. He seems fine. If you want to know what he's capable of, look at the police report.

Nick: Okay, fine. Let's go -- right now. Let's find them.

Jack: Wait. Go where?

Nick: Anywhere! We have to find them right now!

Jack: You want to just go off anywhere?

Nick: I want to protect my daughter!

Kelly: Sorry to interrupt, but maybe we're going about this the wrong way.

Victor: I just want you to know that I appreciate the fact that you took time out of your day to come and tell Nikki about Paul, okay? I'm sure she appreciates it.

Dylan: I-I know Nikki and Paul are close friends, and I didn't want to give her upsetting news over the phone or let her hear it on the news. She doesn't need that kind of stress.

Victor: That's very nice of you. I just want you to know, Dylan, that I-I've had a great difficulty wrapping my head around the fact that you are Nikki's son. But I got to tell you that I think you've been very good for her and good to her, and I appreciate that. I just wanted you to know that, okay? So, go see Avery.

Dylan: Thank you.

Victor: Thank you for coming by. [Sighs]

Nikki: I'm not the only one who needs you, you know. Everybody loves you so much. They rely on you. I couldn't count how many --

[Door opens]

Nikki: Oh, Christine, thank god you were able to get here so fast.

Christine: I couldn't believe it when Lauren told me.

Nikki: I know, but he's strong. He always has been very strong.

Christine: [Sniffles] It's nice to be reminded of that.

Nikki: I'll let you be alone.

Christine: [Crying] Hey, don't -- don't go anywhere, okay? I need you to stay with me. We have a family to make. [Sighs] Hi, doctor. I'm -- I'm Christine. I'm Paul's wife. What can you tell me about his condition?

Doctor: I'm afraid the news isn't good.

Christine: [Gasps]

Austin: Okay. Uh, you should go. I'll figure this out. Just give me a head start before you tell anyone.

Summer: Wait. Where are you gonna go? What are -- what are you gonna do?

Austin: I don't know. I never thought ahead this far. [Chuckling] It's a great plan, huh? [Chuckles] I just wanted Avery to confess. Getting justice for my mother -- that's -- that's all that mattered.

[Siren wailing in distance]

Austin: Okay, wherever I'm going, I'd better go now.

Summer: Austin, wait, please.

Austin: I can't, Summer. I can't wait. I can't. [Breathing heavily]

Summer: Austin... Austin, you're bleeding.

Kelly: Well, I can imagine that Summer and Austin are together, but I-I-I just can't see that he took her hostage. I mean, I just can't imagine that.

Sharon: Based on what?

Kelly: Well, we saw them together in the park, and they seemed to really care about each other. I mean, at least that's how it felt to me.

Jack: Well, I'm comforted to hear you say that, but --

Nick: Look, it's a nice thought, Kelly, but I just -- I don't want this guy anywhere near Summer.

Jack: Agreed.

Nick: All right. You said you saw them at the park? Let's go check there.

Jack: Nick, Nick, listen... if anyone can get through to Summer right now, it is you. Why don't we try another phone call? Maybe she'll pick up this time.

Austin: It's not that bad.

Summer: You've been shot. You need help.

[Cell phone rings]

Nick: Hey, Summer. It's me. Uh, I'm with Jack and Sharon and a few other people, and you've got us all a little worried, so I just want to know, uh -- want to know what's happening. Um...you know you can talk to me about anything, just like always -- no questions, no judgment. I just need to know that you're okay.

Summer: Come with me. I'll take care of you.

Nick: Please, Supergirl, come home. Show us you're safe.

Lauren: If Paul doesn't make it...

Michael: He'll be just fine. He'll be fine.

Lauren: They were in a good place, you know -- a happy place. They were even working on a baby.

Nikki: You know, I reminded Christine [Sighs] How tough he is, what a fighter he is, and now that I hear that they're thinking about a family, that will give him more incentive to pull through, don't you think?

Christine: [Crying]

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Neil: Lily has shown me the right thing to do.

Hilary: You're breaking up with me.

Anita: I don't understand why you're dropping everything and taking off with Billy Abbott.

Billy: Kelly, you could save me a really long flight if you just told me what you know about stitch.
