Episode # 10359 ~ Jack tells Chelsea not to trust Victor; Nick & Dylan come together to help Summer.
Provided By Suzanne
Nick: Damn.
Dylan: It's better that it's empty.
Nick: How do you figure?
Dylan: Well, at least we didn't find Summer in here with Ian.
Nick: He's a guru. He's not Summer's boyfriend. She wouldn't come here to see him. But since no one's here, let's look around.
Dylan: Hey. Suitcase. Remember Avery said Nikki had a suitcase?
Nick: Dylan, that is definitely not my mom's. Doesn't look like your father was planning on sticking around.
Dylan: He seems like the type of guy who'd be packed for a quick getaway, that's for sure. Nothing incriminating in here. I'm gonna check the bathroom.
Nick: Oh, man.
Dylan: What is it?
Nick: That's Summer's bracelet.
Nikki: Oh, my god.
Summer: Grandma, what --
Nikki: Honey, are you sure you're all right?
Summer: Yeah, I-I'm fine. We were just --
Nikki: All right. We got to get you out of here.
Summer: John and I were in the middle of a counseling session.
Nikki: John?
Summer: Yeah, why are you here?
Ian: Would you like some tea, Nicole?
Nikki: I don't want anything from you, thank you. Summer --
Summer: Wait, why are you acting this way?
Ian: Be gentle with your grandmother, Summer. Can't you hear her fear?
Nikki: Don't you worry about me.
Summer: Okay, I don't understand. Why do you sound so angry?
Ian: There's no need for fear or anger here in this safe space.
Nikki: I don't know what he's told you, but he's not the man he says he is.
Michael: Ow! Ow! Son of a gun! [Groans]
Paul: Oh, oh! Are you okay? Let me see.
Michael: Yes, I am fine, but how can a door be such a hazard? I could have been knocked unconscious just -- just lying there, spinning for hours.
Paul: No, no. We would have discovered your drying carcass and I would have had you removed in 5, 10 minutes flat, easy.
Michael: [Sniffs]
Paul: You look okay.
Michael: It's good to see you outside of the station, too, Paul. Is Christine here?
Paul: Uh, no. She's prepping for a case. It's not bleeding, right?
Michael: [Sniffs]
Paul: Actually, I just came in to pick up a sandwich, and then I got to get back to my office.
Michael: No, no. You're gonna have dinner with Lauren and me.
Paul: Oh, that's -- that's very nice of you to offer, but I don't want to intrude.
Michael: That's nonsense. What are you talking about? When have you ever been an intruder?
Paul: Well, we haven't spent a lot of time socially together in the last few months.
Michael: Yeah. Everything's behind us now, Paul. Why don't -- you know, wouldn't it be nice just to sit down and have a meal and laugh like we used to?
Paul: You mean without the threat of me sending you or your son to the big house.
[Both chuckle]
Paul: Look, we're laughing, just like you said.
Michael: Yeah. Exactly. We've been on the opposite side of so many matters lately, but it's a whole new day. Everything is free and clear, so just let's sit down and break bread.
Paul: Well, I can't really, Michael.
Michael: You can. And I know that you're gonna have dinner with us tonight.
Paul: Oh, really? How can you be so sure?
Michael: I can be so sure because I have a secret weapon that you have never been able to say "no" to.
Lauren: Hi. How you doing?
Paul: Hi! Wow, you look great.
Lauren: Oh, you too. Are you joining us for dinner?
Paul: Of course.
Lauren: Aww, that's so great. All right, well, let's grab a table.
Paul: Okay. Shut up.
Kevin: I could finish that for you.
Chloe: It's like -- it's like after Delia died.
Kevin: Connor is still here.
Chloe: Not for me. First I lose my daughter, and now...Chelsea's never gonna let me see my godson ever again.
Kevin: Maybe after some time has passed.
Chloe: I'm never gonna see him again, Kevin. I kidnapped her son. Chelsea's never gonna forgive me for that.
Jack: Sorry I didn't call first. I was in the area. I thought I might squeeze a few minutes in with my godson.
Chelsea: Uh...
Victor: Boy's fast asleep.
Chelsea: Thanks for bringing the monitor down.
Victor: Yep.
Chelsea: Since Connor's sleeping, maybe tomorrow would be better.
Jack: What the hell is going on here?
Victor: Let me ask you -- what the hell are you doing here? What I'm doing here should be obvious.
Nick: I keep getting Summer's voicemail. If that bastard laid a hand on her --
Dylan: Let's just figure out where they could be. Help me look.
Nick: Get in the mind of this sick freak. What are we even looking for? Wait, wait, wait. I got something here.
Dylan: What is it?
Nick: It's a receipt for payment to a realty company.
Dylan: He bought a house here?
Nick: No, he rented office space. It's paid through the end of the month. It's close to here.
Dylan: Let's go.
Summer: Why are you acting like that? Why are you saying those things about him?
Ian: Perhaps your grandmother has me confused with someone else.
Nikki: Oh, I'm not confused.
Ian: Well, obviously there's nothing untoward going on here.
Summer: No, nothing like that. No.
Ian: Summer came to me for help with her life and career guidance.
Summer: Yeah. He's helping me find my path.
Nikki: Helping you? He's a criminal. He's a con man.
Ian: I've dedicated my life to helping young people who are confused and searching. If that's a crime --
Summer: Okay, no. There's got to be some sort of mistake here. Who's telling you these things about him?
Nikki: This man is not your friend. He is not a life coach. He knows nothing about an honest day's work. He's never done it.
Ian: Perhaps I should speak to your grandmother privately.
Nikki: And he preys on young girls.
Summer: Okay, Mr. Darwin doesn't --
Nikki: Darwin?! Darwin's not even his real name.
Summer: Okay, what's going on here?
Ian: A simple misunderstanding.
Nikki: Summer, you have to get out of here. Now. Now!
Ian: I think that's a good idea I welcome the opportunity to speak with your grandmother and clear up a few apparent misconceptions.
Nikki: Please go, honey.
Ian: It's all right. [Chuckles]
Nikki: I brought the money you asked for.
Ian: I'm sorry it had to turn out this way, Nicole. Truly, I am. But thank you for being so prompt. Well, this isn't $5 million. Where's the rest of it?
Jack: What has Victor done to force you to allow him access to Connor?
Chelsea: No, he hasn't forced me into anything.
Jack: What are you not saying, Chelsea?
Victor: Chelsea has obviously told you everything she wants to at this moment.
Jack: And obviously you'd like to keep me in the dark. I can't help but wonder why. You might wonder why, as well.
Chelsea: All right. I suppose you're gonna find out about this eventually, anyway.
Jack: What? What happened?
Chelsea: Chloe kidnapped Connor and took him to Paris.
Jack: What? When?
Chelsea: The night of the gala. She stole my passport and Connor's passport, and she flew to Paris with him.
Victor: Everything is under control right now, okay?
Jack: I can't believe I'm just now hearing about this.
Chelsea: We just -- we just got back.
Jack: Why didn't you contact me as soon as it happened? And why, in god's name, did you contact Victor?!
Victor: Because it's a family matter! That's why!
Paul: It feels so good to finally have the carmine Basco case closed.
Michael: Mm-hmm.
Lauren: Oh, tell me. We are so relieved that it's over.
Paul: Well, it would have been over so much sooner if the two of you had told me the truth from the beginning.
Lauren: Well...we -- we couldn't. I mean, it wasn't possible. It was just too much a risk. But you and Christine were so good to us despite that.
Paul: Over, forgotten.
Michael: Great. So there's no strain on the friendship. That's great.
Paul: No, no. Despite the fact that the two of you lied to me through your teeth, causing me to waste countless hours of my time, tearing me away from my new bride.
Michael: Look at that. So there's no grudge. That's...
Lauren: Good. Excellent.
Paul: None whatsoever.
Michael: But, you know [Clears throat] If, perchance, there was a grudge, what would it take to make said grudge right?
Paul: Who's paying for dinner?
Michael: I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say me.
Paul: You're on the path to forgiveness.
Lauren: [Chuckles] It was a good thing.
Kevin: You have to go back to the beginning.
Chloe: To which beginning? When Delia was born? Her first step? Her first word? I think about that every day, Kevin.
Kevin: You know what I mean. You have to go back to when you lost Delia.
Chloe: I can't do that anymore.
Kevin: Look, if you want to deal with your grief, you have to.
Chloe: What do you think I've been doing?
Kevin: Taking Chelsea's son and going to France? I think you've been running. You can't do that anymore. You have to face Delia's death the -- the right way.
Chloe: There is no right way.
Kevin: Fair enough. But there are ways that are less wrong than others, and so far, Chloe, you've been dealing with this the wrong way. I'm sorry that happened to you. I am. I wish I'd done more to help you.
Chloe: You tried.
Kevin: I should just never have left you alone, ever, and just kept yapping at you until you listened to me.
Chloe: No. I threw you out of my life more than once. I never even gave you a chance.
Kevin: I could have pushed harder.
Chloe: You did. You tried to tell me that my behavior wasn't normal or rational, and...I just didn't want to listen to you. You know, I cut you out of my life. I didn't want to see you, I didn't want to talk to you, and you cannot blame yourself. I did all this. [Voice breaking] My god. Oh, what have I done?
Kevin: Hey. You were consumed by grief.
Chloe: Oh, come on. That's not an excuse.
Kevin: I didn't say it was an excuse, but it's a reason. It's the reason that all of this happened. I understand that. I think Chelsea understands that.
Chloe: How is Chelsea ever gonna understand what I did to her?
Kevin: She does. That's why she hasn't pressed charges. Look, we all love you, we care about you, and we all want to help you.
Chloe: [Sighs]
[Doorbell rings]
Kevin: Hey, Edmonds. What are you guys doing here? Come on in.
Edmonds: Chloe fisher?
Chloe: Yeah?
Edmonds: You're under arrest for kidnapping.
Kevin: Edmonds, this isn't right. Something got messed up somewhere. I'm gonna call Chelsea Newman, and she's gonna tell you that she wasn't planning on pressing any charges.
Edmonds: Do you understand your rights?
Chloe: Yeah.
Kevin: You know what? Call Chavez or -- or call the chief. They'll tell you that this is all just a big misunderstanding.
Edmonds: Fisher, I-I'm just doing my job. I got to bring her in.
Kevin: [Sighs]
Paul: Well, you know, now that things have calmed down, maybe Chris and I can finally take that honeymoon we've been postponing.
Michael: Well, Paul, it might help if you stopped micromanaging the station.
Paul: Oh, says the workaholic.
Michael: Really? Is that what I am? A workaholic?
Lauren: Okay. There's a lot to be said for time away with your wife.
Paul: I agree. Fen!
Fenmore: Hello.
Michael: Hi, Fenmore.
Lauren: Hi, baby.
Fenmore: I didn't know you guys were gonna here for dinner.
Lauren: Yeah.
Paul: How's it going?
Fenmore: Oh, it's going good, chief.
Michael: Join us. Come on.
Lauren: Yeah, come on.
Fenmore: Ah, you know, any other time, sure, but I'm actually here applying for a job.
Lauren: Doing what?
Fenmore: Dishwasher, busboy. Whatever they've got while I'm in between semesters at college.
Michael: My checkbook and I applaud your initiative.
Paul: Yeah, me too. They could use some backup here.
Fenmore: On what?
Paul: Your dad being the biggest workaholic known to man.
Michael: You know, that's not true. It is not true.
Fenmore: Since what he does is so important, I understand putting in the long hours. And don't ever tell him, but... I'm kind of proud of him.
Paul: [Chuckles] Your secret is safe with me. Trust me.
[Cell phone rings]
Paul: I'm sorry. Work. Williams. Chloe fisher? Wh-what's the charge? All right. Okay. I'm on my way.
Lauren: Did something happen with Chloe?
[Cell phone rings]
Paul: Well, uh... I'm gonna have to take a rain check on dessert.
Michael: Yeah, Kevin. What's up?
Kevin: Hey, mike, I need your help. Chloe just got arrested.
Michael: Arrested for what?
Kevin: For kidnapping Connor Newman.
Paul: All right. Sorry to cut this short. See you later.
Michael: All right, Kevin. Tell me everything you know.
Jack: A family matter? Is that what you think, Chelsea?
Victor: We just recovered Chelsea's baby. It had been kidnapped, and you're now questioning her?
Jack: Actually, actions that I've been questioning.
Victor: You're questioning why she turned to me.
Jack: Yes, that's right. I am.
Victor: For your information, I'm the grandfather.
Jack: And I am the child's legal guardian, per Adam's request. Your husband, Connor's father, requested this to avoid a situation just like this.
Chelsea: Jack, I understand why you're asking, and I'm sorry that I didn't tell you what was happening in the moment.
Jack: Okay, I don't need an apology.
Chelsea: It's just that Adam -- he's not here. Even if he's alive, he's not here. All that mattered to me was bringing my son back. That's all that mattered to me.
Jack: So, you called Victor? Why?
Victor: Leave it alone, Jack. This is petty, even for you.
Jack: I want to know why you went against your husband's express wishes and contacted Victor, knowing that I had the resources to help.
Chelsea: I didn't call Victor, at first, for help.
Jack: So, how did he get involved, and how did he convince you to work around me?
Chelsea: You're making it sound like he's blackmailing me or brainwashing me. He's not.
Jack: Why did you call him, Chelsea?
Chelsea: Because I thought that he was involved, at first. At first, I thought maybe he was helping Chloe to take Connor.
Jack: A reasonable fear.
Victor: You tread carefully, all right?
Nikki: I don't understand. Did I make a mistake?
Ian: Yes. This is not what I asked for.
Nikki: I-I must have misunderstood. It was so confusing.
Ian: No, it was simple.
Nikki: That's $1 million in cash.
Ian: Excellent. I asked for $5 million.
Nikki: Oh, well, that is quite a difference, isn't it? It -- it's just -- I'm confused. What is the arrangement again? Wh-what do I get for my $5 million?
Ian: You give me the money, I leave town, I stop bothering your family, especially that lovely girl, Summer -- so impressionable, so eager.
Nikki: You didn't touch her.
Ian: My dealings with your not-quite granddaughter have been chaste. I cross my heart. But if I don't get the rest of my money, I can't promise it's gonna remain that wholesome.
Nikki: The rest of the money is downstairs in my car.
Ian: Well, good. You mean that whole "what did I do wrong?" Bit was an act? To what end?
Nikki: Trying to save myself $4 million. You would have done the same.
Ian: [Chuckles] I would have. [Chuckles] Come on. Let's go get my money.
Nikki: Hold it. On one condition. I want you to promise that you won't manipulate Summer the way you did me.
Ian: Oh, now, there you go again, Nicole, you know, rewriting history. How can you do that when I have such fond memories of our time together?
Nikki: Don't insult my intelligence.
Ian: I was complimenting your ardor.
Nikki: [Scoffs] How dare you?
Ian: I was merely...
Nikki: Lying. You were lying.
Ian: ...Remembering.
Nikki: Stop painting that assault as something consensual.
Ian: It was.
Nikki: If you don't stop lying about me being a willing participant in that encounter, I'm gonna call the police.
Ian: And what would that accomplish? It's long past the time that you could be making, uh, criminal allegations. And I'm not doing anything wrong now.
Nikki: Oh, I don't think Paul will see it that way once I tell him what you've been up to with Summer.
Ian: Counseling her?
Nikki: I'll show him the picture that you sent me of you and Summer.
Ian: Oh, a little innocent snapshot of two people sitting in a room near a bed.
Nikki: You know he's the police chief now. He knows all about you. He knows about everything you did to me.
Ian: I told you I will leave the girl alone. That's what you wanted, isn't it?
Nikki: I want one more thing.
Ian: Hmm.
Nikki: I want you to admit the truth about what you did to me.
Ian: [Sighs, chuckles]
Kevin: Wait, Paul. Paul. I don't get why Chloe's being arrested.
Paul: She's being charged with a crime.
Kevin: So, did Chelsea change her mind and decide to press charges? Why is this happening?
Paul: It's not up to her.
Kevin: Sure it is. It's her kid. It's her call.
Paul: The minute Chelsea reported her son missing and suspected Chloe, it became a federal matter, Kevin. She's being charged with the kidnapping of a minor.
Chelsea: I was scared. I panicked.
Jack: And your first instinct was that Victor was helping Chloe kidnap your child.
Chelsea: Jack, my fears were completely irrational. The second I told Victor what Chloe had done, that she had taken my son, he took control.
Jack: Oh, I'll just bet he did.
Victor: Chelsea, you do not owe this man any explanation.
Chelsea: Yes, I do, for two reasons. Jack is my son's godfather, and Victor had nothing to do with Chloe taking Connor.
Jack: Are you sure about that?
Chelsea: Yes. It was Victor's idea to check about the passports. That's how we tracked Chloe to Paris.
Jack: Why didn't you just call the police?
Chelsea: I did the second I realized Connor was missing, but they couldn't act fast enough. Victor called his pilot. He called his friend at the state department. They got me an expedited visa. Before I knew it, we were on our way to Paris.
Jack: And how did you track Chloe down?
Chelsea: Well, I hadn't even considered what I would do once I landed. I had no idea how I would find her.
Jack: But, somehow, you figured it out.
Victor: You bet.
Jack: And Chloe just handed you the baby?
Chelsea: Well, Victor was able to talk her down, convince her to give me my son back. If it wasn't for him, I mean, I don't know what would have happened. I could have lost Connor forever.
Victor: This is over now, okay? Don't you worry anymore.
Nikki: I want to hear you say it, finally, after all these years.
Ian: What words do you want, Nicole? I wouldn't want to misspeak.
Nikki: That ours was not a consensual relationship.
Ian: You know, it saddens me to see you abdicating your free will.
Nikki: Abdicating?!
Ian: You've created this myth that you're a weak person, a victim. And you spent your whole life retelling that story, enslaving yourself to it.
Nikki: I was weak back then. I so much wanted to be loved by someone. I wanted to be important to someone.
Ian: That's right. And you made a choice then --
Nikki: And I'm making a choice now. I'm not gonna let you coerce or shame me like you did when I was so young and I couldn't talk back to you. Here's an aphorism for you -- the truth will set you free.
Ian: What, your truth, Nicole? Is that what it will take to appease you -- for me to regurgitate your version of what happened between us? [Chuckles]
Nikki: After what you took from me, it's a hell of a deal.
Ian: Huh. Or
Nikki: Or you don't get your money. Put that on your path and step in it.
Ian: Uh-huh. As you say. It was a shame the way things happened -- a missed opportunity for you, Nicole.
Nikki: Say it. Say what you did.
Ian: I...wanted you. I believed you wanted me.
Nikki: And I didn't want you. Say it.
Ian: If only you had allowed yourself to feel as I did. It would have been a beautiful experience for you.
Nikki: Oh, my god. I overestimated you. You wouldn't know the truth if it knocked you over.
Ian: Hmm. All right. [Sighs]
Nikki: All right. Let's go get your damn money.
Nick: Mom.
Nikki: Oh, Nicholas. I got Summer out of here. I warned her about Ian, so there's really no need for you two to be here.
Dylan: Sure there is.
Nick: I found Summer's bracelet in your hotel room.
Nikki: Nothing happened. She's fine.
Nick: How about you?
Nikki: I'm fine. He can never hurt me again.
Dylan: Can you, uh, make sure Nikki gets home? I'd like to have a few words with Ian.
Nikki: He's not worth it.
Dylan: No, but you are.
Nick: Come on, mom. Let's go. You gonna finish the conversation I started with this guy?
Dylan: Sure am.
Ian: Well, it's a lovely thing that mother/son bond. I mean, how can you call it anything but what it is -- a gift, huh?
Fenmore: What do you think is going on with uncle Kevin and Chloe?
Lauren: I don't know. I'm sure we'll get details later.
Fenmore: Yeah, unless it's privileged.
Lauren: That's true.
Fenmore: Dad downplayed that, but...it sounded seriously legal.
Lauren: Now, I want to tell you. It meant a lot to your dad, what you said earlier.
Fenmore: Oh, I used to be ashamed of dad's job.
Lauren: Really? But he helps people.
Fenmore: No, I-I-I-I get that now, but him being a former D.A., It was --
Lauren: Well, I know it didn't help you make friends in prison, but...
Fenmore: How did you guess?
Lauren: But that's behind you now.
Fenmore: Yes, yes. Um... but not all the way.
Lauren: What's the matter, honey? Are you having, like, nightmares or something?
Fenmore: Prison made me better, mom. I know -- you never expected that, huh? [Chuckles]
Lauren: You hated that place.
Fenmore: Oh, more than you know. When I was sleeping, eating, showering, or...just even breathing, I just -- I, um -- I was terrified that, you know, I was gonna die in there, but that made me, maybe for the first time in my life, just appreciate what I've got.
Lauren: I'm really glad to hear that.
Fenmore: And... I want to be a lawyer like dad.
Lauren: [Chuckles]
Fenmore: Think that sounds crazy.
Lauren: No.
Fenmore: Well, then, why are you --
Lauren: You know, I was -- I was just thinking about the long, hard road that it took your dad to regain his law license, that's all.
Fenmore: Yeah, but that -- because of prison. And, I mean, but that -- that woke dad up and turned him around, too, right? I get that. I want to help people who have screwed up like I did, get them their second chance.
Lauren: You want to be a defense attorney?
Fenmore: Or a prosecutor, get people justice who have been hurt by guys like carmine or Womack.
Lauren: You have it in you, baby. You do.
Fenmore: You know, I just -- I want to do it right, so I-I need some help forming some sort of game plan.
Lauren: Okay. What do you want to do? You want to take a class? What do you want?
Fenmore: Actually, Summer -- she just started seeing this life coach about finding her path. She seems really excited about what this particular guy can do for her.
Michael: Look, I just need to hear what --
[Knock on door]
Summer: Uh, hi. Uh, please. I need to talk to you.
Paul: Summer, I'm right in the middle of something important.
Summer: I know, but it's about my grandma. I think that she's in trouble.
Paul: All right. Let's take this outside. Nikki's in trouble? What happened?
Summer: She made me leave. She's still with him.
Paul: She's where? Where -- who's she with?
Summer: This guy that I met. He's a life coach. His name is john Darwin, except that's not him name. I don't know. I was at his office, and then she showed up, and she was really mad and --
Paul: What did Nikki say?
Summer: That he's not really a life coach. He's some con man that just preys off of young women, and then when I was leaving, she --
Paul: You left her there alone?
Summer: She made me, and that's when I heard her say that she's gonna pay this guy off.
Paul: Okay, Summer. You did the right thing coming to me. Have a seat.
Michael: Now that this has become a federal matter, the difficulty for Chloe --
Kevin: Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. No, no, no, no. None of this is gonna be difficult at all. Chloe didn't do anything wrong, and I can swear by that.
Chelsea: I needed help. Victor was here, and he gave it. He didn't make any of this happen. There was no manipulation.
Jack: You sure about that?
Chelsea: Yeah, Jack. I was here.
Victor: Chelsea, please don't waste your breath with him, okay? He's not interested in the truth. He's only interested in constructing his own version thereof.
Jack: I'm only concerned with protecting the child.
Victor: As is my concern.
Jack: The way you protected Adam?
Chelsea: As much as Adam wanted to break free from his father, he also desperately wanted a relationship with him.
Jack: Yes, which Victor withheld again and again.
Victor: And, again, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. This is none of your business.
Jack: Adam was my friend. It is most certainly my business.
Chelsea: It's not as simple as it seems, Jack. I mean, not everybody has a great father like you -- you had.
Jack: Wait, that doesn't excuse --
Victor: There was a crisis, Jack. And I did want anyone would have done under the circumstances.
Jack: I'm not sure it's what I would have done.
Victor: Give me a break.
Chelsea: Wouldn't you have helped -- helped me do whatever it took to get Connor home?
Jack: Of course I would have.
Chelsea: 'Cause that's really all that Victor did. There was no motivation, just trying to do right by his son and his grandson.
Jack: Yeah, is that what he told you?
Victor: That's what it is.
Jack: I realize, on the face of it, Victor appears to be nothing more than a concerned grandfather.
Chelsea: That's what he's been.
Jack: Or he framed his actions to appear that way.
Chelsea: Why would he do that?
Jack: For your benefit. He showed you what he wanted you to see.
Chelsea: Jack, I saw what I saw.
Jack: Okay. Let me guess what that was. He showed up exactly when he needed to with all of the answers -- answers, transportation, an expedited visa.
Victor: Give it a rest, Jack.
Jack: And then there was the long flight. What then? Heartfelt conversation, kindness, compassion? Avows that he had no ulterior motive, that he felt driven by remorse, that he wanted to set things right.
Victor: Chelsea, don't buy into this, okay? And, Jack, why don't you give it a rest for a day, trying to one-up me?
Jack: You really think that's what this is?
Victor: You bet this is what it is. You want my wife, you want my son, now you want my grandson. And you're capitalizing on that poor woman's pain right now.
Jack: I'm trying to save her from pain, a lifetime of it.
Victor: I am helping her.
Jack: That's right, until you turn on her and take her son. You don't honestly think this is the end of this.
Victor: Don't let him manipulate you, Chelsea.
Jack: No manipulation necessary. As you said, it's what it is. Chelsea, think about this -- who has the most to gain in this? You're playing right into his hand.
Victor: Maybe she turned to the man she knew would help her recover her kidnapped child.
Kevin: I'm sorry that I was in such a panic when I called you.
Michael: It's a scary situation.
Kevin: Sure. The cops show up out of nowhere, start right in reading rights, they handcuffed Chloe. I mean, how would anybody react?
Michael: You want to tell me about it?
Kevin: There's nothing to tell, really. Chloe was freaked out. I was freaked out. But it is gonna be so easy to get is all squared away.
Michael: Why do you say that?
Kevin: Because it was all just a misunderstanding.
Michael: You mean the FBI got it wrong, that Chloe didn't take Chelsea's child out of the country?
Kevin: No. She did. But Chelsea wanted Chloe to take Connor to Paris.
Michael: They planned it?
Kevin: Yeah, absolutely. Chelsea intended to -- to meet them. It was all arranged.
Michael: Well, that seems odd. Why would Chelsea ask Chloe --
Kevin: Listen, listen, listen. Chloe and Chelsea are business partners, and Chloe is also Connor's godmother. So, Chloe was taking him over there to settle up with some house business -- you know, Chelsea bought a house in Paris. Chelsea was supposed to be right behind them so they could transact some business for their clothing line.
Michael: And Chelsea's gonna back this story up?
Kevin: Of course. Why wouldn't she? It's the truth.
Chloe: No, it's not.
Nikki: I hope Dylan won't do anything reckless.
Nick: Oh, it won't be reckless.
Nikki: Well, I've already assured both of you that Ian is not going to be a problem anymore.
Nick: Look, it's not Dylan's fault if he has an opinion of him. If he wants to express that opinion by rearranging his face, then...
[Door opens, closes]
Summer: Grandma.
Nikki: Oh, honey.
Summer: I was so worried about you.
Nikki: Oh, sweetheart, I'm fine. How are you?
Summer: Confused. I didn't want to leave you there with john Darwin or whatever his name is after everything that I heard. I went to the police station, and I told Paul everything.
Nikki: Good. Paul will take care of it.
Dylan: How many have there been?
Ian: I need some clarification, son.
Dylan: I'm not your son! How many girls have you taken advantage of since Nikki? 5, 10, 100?
Ian: Come on, Dylan. You're experienced enough to know that what happened between your mother and me is a lot more complicated than the recollections of a troubled teenager or --
Dylan: See, that's exactly what you count on -- that you can capitalize on their vulnerability, twist around what happened, and just claim that these girls were following their path
Ian: Nicole was hardly a child.
Dylan: You were going after Nikki's granddaughter.
Ian: That was strictly business.
Dylan: Yeah? What about gloating about what you did to Nikki?
Ian: I wasn't gloating. I was trying to appease Nikki, telling her what she wanted and needed to hear.
Dylan: You're never gonna change, are you? You think you're gonna walk out of this door free and clear and do this again? That's not gonna happen.
Ian: I know about your military background, all right?
Dylan: It's about to come in handy.
Ian: I understand you're a dangerous man. What are you gonna do? Huh? You gonna kill me?
Dylan: I'm gonna make you wish you were dead!
Ian: Don't! Don't kill me, Dylan. If you do, you'll never know.
Nick: I found this in Ian's hotel suite.
Summer: Thanks. I didn't even know that I lost it. Uh, n-no. Nothing happened. I took a test -- a personality-profile thing. That's it. That's it. I-I -- gosh, I feel so stupid for going to his room.
Nikki: Well, honey, don't. You didn't do anything wrong. You were just deceived by a man who's been doing it for many years.
Summer: It almost sounds like you know him.
Nikki: I do know him.
Summer: From where?
Nikki: He's Dylan's father. Here, sit down. It's time that you know the truth.
Dylan: What do you mean I'll never know? Know what?!
Ian: Paul, oh, it's, uh, so good to see you.
Paul: It's chief Williams.
Ian: It's been a long time.
Paul: Not long enough. Where's Nikki?
Dylan: Nick took her home.
Paul: So, is this the money you took from Nikki?
Ian: Took? [Chuckles] Oh, no. Just some cash, you know, that I like to carry from town to town. It makes it easier, you know?
Paul: Of course. Because it leaves no trace. So, it's your contention that this bag of money belongs to you?
Ian: Yes, of course.
Paul: Did you pick the flowered print yourself?
Ian: No. [Chuckles] The bag was a gift. The contents, however, are mine.
Paul: Dylan, how long have you been here? Did you see Nikki give him the money?
Dylan: No, he had it by the time we got here.
Ian: Well, thank you for telling the truth, son. It's very admirable.
Dylan: It's clearly Nikki's money. She paid him off.
Ian: Well, if Nikki -- if she hasn't, uh, lost a large sum of money, I don't see what the problem is.
Paul: The problem is that we all know you extorted it.
Ian: Yes, but if Nikki doesn't file a complaint and there are no witnesses, there's really not much of a case, is there?
Paul: There will be. You see, I let Nikki down years ago. I'm not about to do it again.
Ian: It's really rewarding to see that, uh, you and Nikki have remained bonded from your wonderful experience at new world. You should have seen him, Dylan -- blond hair, blue eyes, oh, muscles.
Paul: You know, there were no beautiful experiences at new world, and you can't whitewash the history with me, because I was there.
Ian: Yes, you were there. And in your words, you let Nikki down.
Paul: You know, that kid with the hair and all the muscles? He couldn't have seen what you were trying to do, but I'm older... and maybe just a little bit smarter, and you can't manipulate me. And I get to say something to you that kid only wishes he could have.
Ian: What is that?
Paul: You're under arrest.
[Zips bag]
Kevin: Chloe, it's just like I said.
Chloe: No, Kevin.
Kevin: Yes, it is, please.
Michael: What happened?
Kevin: Don't do this.
Chloe: I'm not gonna lie. I kidnapped Connor. And I never intended to come back.
Jack: If you don't give Victor what he wants, he will use this kidnapping against you.
Chelsea: That's not possible.
Jack: He will use it against you even if you give him unfettered access to Connor.
Chelsea: How could he --
Victor: Jack, stay out of this. This is none of your business.
Jack: I am Connor's godfather. It is damn sure my business. You're being set up, sweetheart. Victor is gonna have you declared an unfit mother.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Colin: If you think that you're gonna solve this mystery and cut me out, think again.
Kelly: Your divorce is going through.
Stitch: Yeah.
Kelly: It's because of me.
Victor: I just lost my son. Is it so unnatural that I want to get to know my grandson?
