[Pots clang]

Avery: Well, you never were very handy in a kitchen. Good thing you have me around, huh?

Dylan: Yeah. Yeah. Thank you.

Avery: Did you, uh, make our reservation? For dinner tonight.

Dylan: [Sighs] No, I'm sorry. I'll do that right now. I'm sorry.

Avery: Hey, hey, what's wrong? When I left here earlier, you were all smiles.

Dylan: Ian Ward is here. In Genoa City.

Avery: You saw him?

Dylan: No. He visited Nikki. I promised to keep Ian Ward away from her, and I ended up leading him right to her front door.

[Knock on door]

Nikki: [Gasps]

Ian: Hello, Nikki. Remember me?

Nikki: Ian.

Nikki: Who is it?

Paul: It's me, Nikki. Paul.

Nikki: [Sighs] [Sighs]

Paul: Hi, there.

Nikki: I'm so glad it's you.

Paul: As opposed to?

Nikki: Uh, never mind. Come on in. Oh, gosh, if I'd known you were coming, I would -- well, I can set another place for dinner. Would you like to?

Paul: Oh, no, no. Unfortunately, this is, uh, not a social call.

Nikki: Oh?

Paul: I'm here to see Victor on a police matter.

Victoria: You got bad news?

Victor: I'm afraid so.

Victoria: Well, what is it? You were asking about Billy before. Is it about him? Did something happen to him?

Victor: Some information has come to light. Some bad information about Adam.

Billy: You told me the whole story. I want to hear you say it. Want to hear you say it. Say the words.

Adam: Billy --

Billy: You say the words! Say the words.

Adam: I did it. I killed Delia. [Sobs] You got it. You got your confession. That's what you wanted, right? Now let's get out of here. Let's go to the police.

Billy: Don't.

Adam: [Sobs]

Lauren: Honey, I'm sorry I'm late. I had to drive slow 'cause it's so slick.

Michael: Did you bring the bath salts?

Lauren: Yes, I did. I bagged it like you asked me to.

Michael: Perfect. Thank you.

Lauren: So glad to be rid of that.

Michael: [Sighs] Come on. Nothing says "I love you" like a gift from a stalker.

Lauren: The sooner you get that to the police, the better.

Michael: Yeah. About that, listen, uh, I've decided to go in another direction.

Adam: Billy.

Billy: I don't feel anything. I feel nothing. [Sobs]

Billy: [Sobs]

Adam: Tell me what I can do, Billy. What can I do to help?

Billy: [Sobbing] I'm sorry. I found him. [Sniffles] [Sighs] Nothing's changed. I'm so sorry, honey.

Adam: I wish I could bring Delia back.

Billy: Don't talk to me about it.

Adam: I would if I could, but I -- there's nothing left to do but for me to go to jail. I got to go plead guilty and serve my time. Come on, Billy. It's time. You got to go.

Billy: Shut your mouth. [Cocks gun] We're not done here, man. We're not done. Not at all.

Victoria: I already know about Adam.

Victor: Do you?

Victoria: And frankly, Dad, I couldn't be happier.

Victor: What are you talking about, sweetheart?

Victoria: He's moving to Paris. I know his taking your grandson so far away is upsetting to you, but I just think it'll be worth it to have Adam out of our lives.

Victor: He's not moving to Paris. He's escaping to Paris.

Victoria: Escaping?

Victor: From the police.

Victoria: My God. What has he done? What has he done now?

Victor: This is very difficult for me to say. But he is responsible for the death of our beautiful, innocent, sweet Delia.

Victoria: What? What are you talking about?

Victor: I'm sorry.

Victoria: No, tell me what are you talking about? No.

Victor: Apparently, there's evidence that he drove the car that hit Delia, and he was unaware of it, and he drove on. So it was your brother, my son, who killed that sweet little girl.

Victoria: What? [Sniffles] [Sobs]

Nikki: Well, that sounds ominous. Why would you need to see Victor about a police matter?

Paul: I'm looking for Adam.

Nikki: Oh, in trouble again, huh? Well, I don't know that Victor can help you at all. It's not like the two of them spend much time together.

Paul: Well, actually, Victor was over at Adam's place earlier.

Nikki: He was?

Paul: Yeah, I was going to ask him if he had seen him since then, but obviously you weren't aware that he was.

Nikki: No. I have no idea. This is news to me.

Paul: Well, if you talk to him or he comes home --

Nikki: I will tell him that you need to speak to him.

Paul: All right, thank you.

Nikki: So, what's this all about? Must be pretty serious if you're going to such pains to find Adam.

Paul: It's very serious.

Nikki: Just what we need. More trouble.

Paul: What? Is there something going on I don't know about?

Nikki: [Sighs] You're busy. I'll tell you another time.

Paul: Nikki, I always have time for a friend. Now, what's wrong?

Nikki: Well, we don't need to wonder about where Ian Ward is anymore. He's here.

Dylan: He was right there waiting for her in her living room.

Avery: How did Ian get past the gate, let alone Bonnie?

Dylan: He did what he's always done. He'd turn on the charm to get what he wanted. What is it about this guy that reels people in? Why don't they see past his act?

Dylan: He makes people see what they want to see. Ian obviously learned that from early on, and he's used it to perfection.

Avery: The man is smart. I'll give him that.

Dylan: I definitely underestimated him. I mean, even without mentioning Nikki's name in Indiana, he was still able to put all the pieces together and follow us back to Genoa City.

Avery: Maybe we were naive to think he wouldn't put the pieces together and show up here.

Dylan: [Sighs] He really messed with Nikki's head. He tried to spin it like she was the one who wanted to sleep with him all those years ago and that she was lucky to have had his kid.

Avery: I'm sorry for Nikki. I'm sorry for you.

Dylan: For me?

Avery: Yes. Just when you decide to move on with your life, now you have to deal with this.

Dylan: Well, if dealing with him means to send him packing, that should be easy enough.

Ian: [Clears throat]

Dylan: Hi. Can I help you?

Ian: Oh, pardon me for interrupting. Lovely place you have here. I just wanted to introduce myself, Dylan. I'm --

Dylan: I know who you are. the GCPD.

Lauren: Honey, we have to find out who's been sending us this stuff. First, the cake that says "forget not," and then this bath salt that says the same thing but in French. Someone is trying to scare us, and they're doing a damn good job.

Michael: I have a friend in forensics. He can analyze the contents, check for fingerprints and trace elements.

Lauren: Yeah, well, so can the GCPD.

Michael: They're not getting their hands on this.

Lauren: Why not?

Michael: This has to stay between us and my buddy. Nobody else can know about it.

Lauren: Paul is our friend, too.

Michael: Not in this case.

Lauren: You really think that?

Michael: I have no other choice but to think that. And neither do you. No word to the police. They're the last people we can turn to at this time.

Summer: Hey. Um, look, you have no idea how much it means to me that you agreed to let me come visit you.

Fenmore: I wanted to see for myself that you're all right.

Summer: I'm as good as new. Maybe not as good, but, uh, the doctor did say that there are no permanent damages to my heart.

Fenmore: You were lucky.

Summer: Yeah. I might not have been if you didn't come looking for me, though. But now you're back here. I'm really sorry.

Fenmore: I violated the terms of the house arrest. I knew exactly what I was doing.

Summer: I know, but you didn't have to come looking for me.

Fenmore: After that phone call of yours?

Summer: I know how mad at me you are. I'm the reason why you ended up here in the first place.

Fenmore: No. No, no. I ended up in here because I committed a crime. I know, but I'm the one that tricked you into turning yourself in.

Fenmore: Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. That really pissed me off. But, you know, after hearing your voice on the phone the other day, sounding all scared, like you were having trouble breathing, you don't even know. I didn't even hesitate. I just had to go find you. Which tells me, maybe I'm not as angry at you as I thought.

Dylan: You haven't changed much since your mug shot when they locked you up for fraud.

Ian: Well, you've been reading up on me, I see.

Dylan: I especially like the pictures of you in the orange jump suit.

Ian: Well, sadly, I don't know your face, so I hope you don't mind if I stare a bit, son.

Dylan: Don't call me that.

Ian: Fair enough. I can't expect you to accept me overnight.

Avery: Overnight, over 1,000 years, don't expect to ever have acceptance.

Ian: And this is?

Avery: I'm Avery.

Dylan: That's all you need to know.

Ian: Believe me, I am very uncomfortable with this, as well. You know, until you started asking questions about me, I had no idea you even existed. If I had --

Dylan: Nikki had good reason to keep it from you. She told me the whole story.

Ian: Which story is that?

Dylan: Hers.

Ian: Don't I deserve a chance to tell you mine?

Nikki: He told me that he reinvented the cult to be more like a self-help business, more "in keeping with the times," is how he put it.

Paul: So, in other words, same crap repackaged.

Nikki: To hear him, you'd think he had seen the light.

Paul: Which light is that, Nikki? The light of truth or the light the cops put him under when he was being interrogated?

Nikki: Yeah. Well, he insists he's a changed man. He just wants to let the past be in the past, let bygones be bygones.

Paul: Isn't that convenient?

Nikki: Oh, he's a master at changing things around to suit his needs. According to Ian, Dylan was conceived during a beautiful night and that I was more than a willing participant.

Paul: Oh, wow. If I had been there when he said, that, I would have put my fist through his face.

Nikki: Well, I did the next-best thing. I slapped him.

Paul: [Chuckles] Good for you. You've come a long way, haven't you.

Nikki: Oh, well, I like to think I can take care of myself. But there is one thing I can't do. I want you to take care of it for me.

Paul: Name it.

Nikki: Put that bastard back behind bars where he belongs.

Billy: Did I say you can get up? No, you don't get up. You stay right there. You always want to control things, Adam. I think it's time you learn that there are some things in this life you do not control.

Adam: Easy. Billy, I'll do whatever you want. Just --

Billy: What I want is I want to hear the whole story.

Adam: I told you --

Billy: No, you haven't. You're gonna tell me again. So, you swerved to miss hitting the dog. Okay. Fine. What about the impact?

Adam: There was no impact.

Billy: I don't care what you claim. You had to feel something.

Adam: I felt - nothing. That's what I'm trying to tell you. That's why I didn't think I was responsible. I swear to you.

Billy: What about afterwards? When you found out what you had done? Why didn't you go say anything? You didn't. You just sat back. You let me and my entire family wallow in hell. You didn't say anything when you knew it would have given us just a little bit of peace, just a small amount of peace. You didn't say a damn thing.

Adam: You don't want peace. You want me to pay. You want someone to burn at the stake.

Billy: That's what you're afraid of? The man who spent a couple hours in jail before his high-priced attorney got him out. That's what you're afraid of. Really? You've skirted every legal problem that's come your way. You're gonna tell me now that you're afraid to face a jury?

Adam: Yes!

Billy: Why? What's different now, Adam? You're just gonna sit there and look at me? Get up. You get up. What's different now?

Adam: I have a son. That is what this is all about. That is what is different. I'm sure you can relate, Billy. There's no good chance I was gonna walk. Odds are I was gonna go to jail, I was gonna be away from my son. Does my confession help you at all? Does it help you find peace? If closure is a myth, then what are we doing out here?! What do you want from me?!

Billy: I want you dead. What's what I want. I want you dead.

Paul: I want every available officer out there looking for him, Frank. Okay. You know how to reach me.

Nikki: Was that about Adam?

Paul: Come on, Nikki.

Nikki: I know. I'm sorry. Can't discuss it.

Paul: So, let's keep this about Ian Ward, shall we?

Nikki: Yeah. Look, I know this isn't something that you normally do. But seeing as you and I have gone through this whole thing together, um, do you think that you can handle the case against him?

Paul: Well, I'd be glad to, but realistically I don't know what to charge him with. Ian Ward did his time after the collapse of the new world commune, and unless he's committed a new crime between then and now, there's nothing I can do.

Nikki: I don't know about new crimes, but, he was never punished for what he did to me.

Dylan: Are you calling Nikki a liar?

Ian: I'm not calling anyone a liar. That's something you should know about me. I don't like to be confined by labels.

Avery: But you just intimated that you have a very different story than she does.

Ian: Well, a story can be told many different ways, especially decades afterward, when memories become malleable and elusive. Memories are all subjective. Don't you agree?

Dylan: No. No, I don't agree. I happen to think some memories are as clear as the day they happened.

Ian: Everyone's entitled to his or her opinion. I didn't come here to get in any conflict. You went a long way to Indiana looking for me. Presumably, to meet me in the flesh.

Avery: You were nowhere to be found. Hiding behind pseudonyms and protected by your sycophants, who for some reason don't see right through you.

Ian: I'm very fortunate to have loyal friends and colleagues. And I like to think that I've earned their respect and trust.

Dylan: And by brainwashing them.

Ian: Dylan, maybe if you got to know me, you could form your own opinions. You know, get answers to all those questions I know must be racing through your head.

Dylan: You know, I had a lot of questions. But I found out everything I need to know.

Victor: All right, I'm waiting to hear from you. Thank you.

Victoria: I'm sorry I ran out of the room like that. I'm sorry.

Victor: It's okay, my sweetheart.

Victoria: [Sighs]

Victor: I fully understand. I was sickened myself.

Victoria: [Sighs] How did you find out about this? Is it public knowledge?

Victor: Not yet. Went to Adam's place to try to convince him to stay in Genoa City, not to take my grandson to Paris. While I was there, Chelsea was very upset, very distraught. I asked her what was the matter, and she finally blurted out that she had seen Adam's videotaped confession of the hit-and-run.

Victoria: What? So he made a tape? He made a tape, and he just put it away somewhere? Is that what he did?

Victor: No, I think he wanted to go to the police with it and probably lost his nerve.

Victoria: When I think about all the times that I went to him and I told him how much pain Billy was in and how much he needed answers, and instead of providing them, he pointed us in the wrong direction. How could he do that?! How could he do that to his own sister's family?! How could he? [Crying]

Adam: You're not gonna do it. You're not gonna shoot me and leave me out here to die.

Billy: Oh, yeah? Why not?

Adam: 'Cause you can't. You don't have it in you. It's not who you are.

Billy: Don't you know telling me I can't do something is the quickest way to get me to do it?

Adam: You're not a murderer, Billy! You're a smart man. You know what you have to lose -- Victoria and Johnny. You'd end up in prison.

Billy: There's not a jury alive that would convict me of killing the man who killed my daughter and then transplanted her corneas into his son.

Adam: I didn't ask for her corneas.

Billy: No.

Adam: You offered them.

Billy: You were happy to take advantage!

Adam: What do you expect me to do? What would you do with Johnny? You'd do the same thing.

Billy: After I killed the donor? I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

Adam: What do you think I feel like all the time? You think this is easy for me?! All I do is think about my guilt. I think about Delia. I'm haunted by it. I have nightmares! I have dreams!

Billy: Don't you speak my daughter's name. You go to hell.

Adam: Well, that is the very first thing that you and I both agree on, because I have no doubt that is what is waiting for me.

Lauren: Why don't you want to go to the authorities?

Michael: Because they haven't done anything for us. Besides, I've been mulling something over, something that might help save Fenmore.

Lauren: What? What is it?

Michael: Let's discuss it when it's more concrete.

Lauren: I'm not gonna wait that long.

Michael: I haven't worked out all the details.

Lauren: Oh, that is just Michael speak for, "Lauren, stay out of it."

Michael: That's a wonderful idea.

Lauren: I'm not gonna do it. If you're in it, I'm in it.

Michael: Absolutely not.

Lauren: Because it's dangerous, isn't it? It is, isn't it?

Michael: There's a distinct possibility. Yes.

Summer: I really owe you, Fen. You risked everything just to come and find me. I don't know if I can ever make it even, but if there's anything that I can do.

Fenmore: You know, there is one thing you can do for me. Just lay off the pills, okay? Did you not get anything out of what I've been through?

Summer: No, I did. I was just looking for an easy fix. It turned out to be anything but easy. Never again. You have no idea how many times I've heard people say that in rehab and how many people went right back on it.

Summer: They weren't me.

Fenmore: Can you just stay clean, okay? 'Cause I'm not gonna be able to help you out for a long time.

Summer: Do you know where you're gonna be serving the rest of your time?

Fenmore: Someplace far enough away where nobody knows my dad is the ex-DA.

Paul: There is absolutely nothing more I would rather do than arrest Ian Ward for preying on you. And I would never suggest that you don't pursue this if it's something you need to do.

Nikki: So tell me, what am I up against?

Paul: Well, first and foremost, the statute of limitations is against you.

Nikki: [Sighs] That's ridiculous. Especially when you consider that the ramifications of a crime like that takes years to overcome, if at all.

Paul: Well, I can look into crimes of a similar nature, but --

Nikki: I know. There are no witnesses, no proof that I wasn't a willing participant.

Paul: I will look into this for you, okay? Do we have any idea where Ian Ward is now or what his next move might be?

Dylan: I went looking for my biological father because everything I thought I knew about myself was a lie.

Ian: Mm.

Dylan: I wanted to meet you, to see if I could recognize any part of myself in you. But after searching and thanks to Avery, I realize I didn't need anything from you to come to terms with who I am.

Ian: Well, sage advice to give to someone who's in search of his path.

Dylan: Save the party line for the poor kid who doesn't know any better. I'm not walking any path with you.

Ian: I'm truly sorry to hear that. I think we could have found some common ground. You remind me a lot of myself when I was your age. [Chuckles]

Dylan: I don't see the resemblance. You were right. He and I are nothing alike.

Avery: That settles that. We're finished here.

Ian: You have your own loyal supporters. I'm glad of that.

Dylan: Need me to show you the door?

Ian: No. I'm leaving. I hope someday we can find each other.

Dylan: That's not gonna happen. So stay away from me and Avery. And most of all, you stay away from Nikki.

Victor: This will be splashed all over the news in no time at all, so you need to get ahold of Billy as soon as possible.

Victoria: That would be great, Dad, but there's only one problem with that. Billy left hours ago, and he didn't tell me where he was going.

Victor: Have you tried calling him?

Victoria: Yes, I've tried calling him. It goes straight through to voicemail. He's not calling me back.

Victor: Well, what prompted him to leave so suddenly?

Victoria: I don't know. I don't know. [Sniffles] He said something about Adam using a phrase that he heard some guy use online in one of those chat rooms, something about karma, and then Chelsea came by and she told us that she and Adam were moving to Paris. Oh, my god, Dad.

Victor: What?

Victoria: Billy already knows about Adam.

Paul: Well, I wish I could stay longer.

Nikki: Just go do your job. And be careful. I hear the roads are getting bad out there. I hope this thing with Adam resolves itself quickly.

Paul: Me too. And as far as Ian Ward goes, if the guy so much as jaywalks, he's gonna find himself in county lockup.

Nikki: Thank you.

Paul: He will never hurt you again, Nikki. I'll make sure of it.

Nikki: Oh, so will I. I refuse to give him anymore power. But you know I have to admit, when I first saw him, that old feeling of helplessness came over me. But that was the past. I'm no longer that confused young girl.

Esmerelda: I can't believe you ended up in the ER. Because of those stupid pills I gave you. I just figured they were safe. I mean, it's not like I got them from some dealer in a back alley. I bought them on the internet.

Summer: No, Es, it's fine. Look, I don't blame you. I was the one that decided to pop three pills at once. And now because of me, Jack's company is in trouble and the whole fashion campaign can be canceled.

Esmerelda: It's not like we won't book other gigs.

Summer: You, yeah. I just -- I don't know if I want to do this anymore.

Esmerelda: You're kidding, right?

Summer: No, it's just not like anything I thought it would be.

Esmerelda: Where else can you make all that money for a few hours' work?

Esmerelda: Besides, think of the perks.

Summer: What? Free makeup and a cool outfit here and there?

Esmerelda: Guys, concert tickets, admissions to the hottest clubs.

Summer: Yeah, but it's not about that for me. I don't know. It's just, there's got to be something more important, you know?

Esmerelda: Fine. Go be a brain surgeon or find the cure for cancer.

Summer: I'm just saying I would be happy with not screwing up for once. Okay, it seems like every bad decision can land you in jail or the hospital, and I just want to see where I'm gonna go from here.

Esmerelda: How about the Velvet Room? Big party tonight.

Summer: I'm gonna pass.

Esmerelda: Your loss.

Summer: [Sighs]

Ian: Excuse me. I couldn't help overhearing.

Billy: So that's why you whipped out your checkbook, huh? Started the Delia Foundation. Just plain old guilt.

Adam: It's not like that.

Billy: In the meantime, you got the perfect life, right? Wife, baby, clear conscience. Amazing what a seven-figure donation can do to absolve you of all your sins.

Adam: That wasn't the purpose of the foundation. I wanted to honor Delia's memory.

Billy: Yeah, balance the karmic scales, right? Those are your words, you remember? Online to me. Man, I bet you got a kick out of reading my messages online. [Chuckles] And the one I wrote about wanting the driver who hurt Delia to pay -- what did you say? What was that that you wrote to me? "Looking in the mirror is punishment enough." [Chuckles] And then there was the suggestion to move on with your life. That was inspired. Yeah, I bet you got a real big laugh out of that, didn't you?

Adam: I wanted to help. I wanted you to have some relief. I wanted to be able to talk to you. And we couldn't do it face to face.

Billy: But you've said plenty to me face to face. Plenty. About you organizing your own search to find Delia's killer. That fatherhood has made you a better man. And then you shook my hand, and I thanked you -- I thanked you! -- For keeping my daughter's name alive.

Adam: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I am truly sorry. I'm sorry about the accident. I am sorry for what I did. I'm sorry for what I didn't do. I'm sorry for the way I handled it. I'm so, so sorry that she will not be able to grow up, that beautiful little girl and her beautiful life. I am so sorry, Billy. [Breathing heavily]

Billy: Yeah, so am I. But sorry's not good enough. Not today.

Adam: [Sighs]

Victor: All right, keep me posted.

Victoria: Still nothing?

Victor: [Sighs] I called the police station. Billy's not there.

Victoria: I have no idea where he is. I mean, maybe he just went somewhere to try to -- I don't know -- figure out what his next move is. I don't know.

Victor: Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy. A hot head like Billy boy?

Victoria: You don't think he'd go after Adam, do you?

Victor: Where's his gun?

Lauren: What good is it going to do to get Fen out of this if you get hurt in the process?

Michael: Who said the danger was to me?

Lauren: Oh, I don't like this. I don't like this. We don't even know if these creepy gifts have anything to do with Fen. How on earth are you gonna use them to get him out?

Michael: I admit it. It's a long shot. But I have to try. I have to. And if it doesn't work, I'm gonna try something else. I'm gonna keep trying. I'm not gonna give up.

Lauren: And neither will I.

Dylan: All right, vanilla latte, no whipped cream. Avery.

Avery: Hmm?

Dylan: Your coffee.

Avery: Oh. Thank you.

Dylan: Are you okay?

Avery: That's the question I asked you, and you haven't answered me.

Dylan: I'm fine. Really, I am. What's up? What are you thinking about?

Avery: [Sighs] I'm just thinking about Ian. He's so disarming. He's almost captivating.

Dylan: [Sighs] Yeah, I can see why he gets away with what he does. But he's gone. And he can't touch us.

Summer: I was just leaving.

Ian: Oh, yeah. Of course. Of course. Hope you don't mind my saying what a wise young woman you are. It's not often I come across someone your age searching for meaning. And you're smart enough not to talk to strangers in the park. [Chuckles] I won't keep you.

Summer: Thank you. I just --

Ian: But in case you should ever find yourself needing a little help finding the path that you were meant to walk, check us out. I think you'll like what you find.

Victoria: He doesn't have a gun.

Victor: That's not true. He had one last year when you were kidnapped in Miami. I saw it. So where would he keep a gun around here?

Victoria: He wouldn't, Dad, not in a house with a child in it.

Victor: Now, wait a minute, now. Where would you hide a gun so that a child couldn't get to it? In the highest place possible somewhere, right? What about in the closet?

Victoria: In there are just hats and scarves and things like that.

Victor: What have we got here?

Victoria: A lock box?

Adam: I agree. "Sorry" doesn't cover it. I wish there were some adequate words, Billy.

Billy: Doesn't matter. Talking's not gonna bring justice for my daughter.

Adam: Since there's nothing to say, let's get out of the cold. And let's go to the police station.

Billy: No.

Adam: So, this is it. You're gonna kill me right here, right now.

Billy: What I've got planned for you is much worse.

Next, on "The Young and the Restless"...

Jack: Did he do it? Did he kill my brother's little girl?

Kevin: I think that Billy went after Adam. He's not picking up his phone, and he may be armed.

Adam: Where are we going, Billy?

Billy: Shut up. You drive.
