[Door closes]
Nick: [Sighs] Summer, Daddy's here.
Sharon: Please, God, please let Summer be okay. If anything happened to her, I... I don't know what I would do. Her father can't lose her again. [Gasps] Jack. How long have you been standing there?
Jack: Long enough.
Victor: Hey, my boy.
Noah: Hey, Grandpa.
Victor: So nice to see you.
Noah: Thank you.
Victor: Sit down.
Noah: All right. Uh, so, about the Bonaventure profits, I'm finished with the research, and I'll -- I'll have the results in --
Victor: Well, that's all very nice of you, my boy, but, you know, I don't want to discuss business right now, okay?
Noah: Did hell freeze over, or, uh...?
Victor: I can't invite my grandson to have lunch with him?
Noah: [Chuckles] Is everything okay, Grandpa?
Victor: Yeah. Why do you ask?
Noah: Well, it seems like lately you've been talking a lot about family and needing to come together, close the ranks when anyone threaten us. You didn't really ask me to grill me about my -- my parents getting back together again, did you?
Chelsea: Adam, I can do the math. I am perfectly clear on why you want to leave town. And I know you don't think I'm suggesting that Chloe actually move to Paris with us. You don't like her. You're not comfortable with how close she's gotten to Connor. I get it. And trust me -- it would not be a dream come true to be stuck in Paris with the two of you constantly bickering, thank you very much.
Adam: Can't a guy overreact every now and then?
Chelsea: Is that an apology?
Adam: Not a very good one, but yes. Look, I jumped to the wrong conclusion, and I'm sorry, but I would not mind a little space from your friend.
Chelsea: I understand.
Adam: But the idea of waking up every morning with an ocean in between my family and my father, you can't put a price on that. That's why we have to do this.
Kevin: Is that the DMV report on the hit-and-run vehicle?
Officer: Yeah, it is, but you're not gonna like it.
[Billy remembering]
Billy: Those are nice.
Chelsea: Calla lilies. They're really hard to find this time of year, but my fiancé managed to track them down for me.
Abby: Wow. When the realtor said this was a no-frills kind of building, he wasn't kidding.
Tyler: Yeah, but he also said it was newly renovated. Word of mouth is gonna spread fast, so I don't know, if we want the nicest unit in this building, we should act fast. What do you think?
Abby: Tyler, I'm just -- I'm not really sure this is us.
Tyler: Come on. We've been here for like five seconds. Let's check it out first, you know? It's got a new kitchen. You know, it's spacious. There's lots of windows. We are not gonna find a better location than this.
Abby: I guess I don't totally hate it.
Tyler: That right there just puts us light years in front of the last 50 places we looked at. I don't know. What can I say? I like it. And I can afford it.
Abby: Seriously? I guess the size isn't bad. Am I being difficult?
Tyler: I wouldn't say difficult. [Chuckles] I would say incredibly not easy.
Abby: You're right. I'm sorry. I just -- I have to get that house I fell in love with out of my heart. We lost it. It's gone. It's time to move on.
Tyler: Well, according to the broker, you were the one who called and said that we weren't interested.
Abby: What kind of person would call and pretend to be your girlfriend just to ruin a real-estate deal? I would love to know what that was about.
Tyler: Me, too. But you know what? We're probably never gonna know. I don't know. In the meantime, can I maybe interest you in checking out the bedroom?
Abby: Oh. I thought you would never ask.
Victor: I don't mean to grill you or anything like that, Noah. I just, you know, I'm curious, concerned.
Noah: I know you are, but don't be. Mom's had her problems, but she's -- she's doing better now. She's in a great job that she loves. She -- she's reconnecting with her friends. Faith and I couldn't ask for a better mother.
Victor: Your loyalty to your mother is touching, okay? I don't share it, but I admire it.
Noah: Forgive me, Grandpa, but that's not very fair.
Victor: My boy... perhaps you're not aware of some of this, but your -- your mom has done a lot of damage to our family.
Noah: Damage?
Victor: Remember when she burned down my house, my ranch?
Noah: [Sighs] She's doing so much better now. She's back on her meds. She's back in therapy. She's not seeing ghosts --
Victor: Not seeing ghosts? What are you talking about?
Noah: Yeah, she was. She's not anymore.
Victor: What kind of ghosts is she seeing? What -- what do you mean?
Noah: It was -- it was Cassie, Grandpa. She thought that she was seeing Cassie, you know, the way that she would look today wearing that -- that pink blouse that she always used to wear.
Victor: Explain that to me. She talk to herself, or does she talk to someone in the room?
Noah: Grandpa, can we just drop this, please? Mom knows that Cassie's not around. She knows that it's just a symptom of her illness. And she's working so hard at getting her life back together. I-I love her. And I'm proud of her. And she really is doing so much better these days. And if you can't accept that, it's fine, but can you at least just...just leave her alone?
Victor: Yeah.
Sharon: Jack, I can explain what you just heard --
Jack: What's to explain? I mean, it was all pretty clear. All that's left now is to decide what to say. "Thank you" just doesn't seem like enough.
Sharon: "Thank you"?
Jack: I know how worried you are about Summer and Nick. That you would still have enough compassion to pray for me that I not lose my daughter again, you're an incredible friend. Thank you.
Sharon: [Stammers] Jack, there's really no reason to thank me. I mean, after everything you -- you've done for me.
Jack: I know you're worried about Summer. Don't be. Nothing's gonna happen to her. I won't let it happen. Neither will God. The kind, loving God I know would not let that sweet girl suffer the same fate as her mother.
Sharon: I hope so. I...I'm so sorry, and I'm so scared.
Jack: Don't be. I am as sure that Summer is going toe fine as I am that Phyllis is gonna come home to us.
Nick: Don't be scared, okay? You can't be scared... because I don't know... how much of this you remember, but you've been here before, Summer. When you were a little girl, you were in a coma. You were in a hospital bed just like this. You had a real bad... [Voice breaking] Allergic reaction. But I was not gonna lose you. I prayed so long and so hard. I didn't eat or sleep for days. And you know how much I love to eat and sleep, right? [Sniffles] But it worked, 'cause you came back to me. You came back, just like you're gonna do this time. You're gonna come back, all right? There's so many people out there who love you. And -- and they've had a lot of sadness in their lives lately. And everyone's counting on you for a happy ending to all this, okay? Okay. God, please, please don't do this. [Sniffles] Please. Please. Summer? Summer. Hello! Please! I need some help.
Summer: [Coarsely] Dad?
Nick: She's awake. Summer's awake.
Stitch: Wait outside, please.
Nick: Okay, Sweetheart, I'm right here. I love you so much, okay? I'm right here. I'll be right back.
[Cell phone rings]
Noah: Oh, hey, Dad. What's up?
Nick: Hey, Noah, um, I didn't want to call you until I knew more.
Noah: About what?
Nick: About Summer.
Noah: Uh, hey, Dad, I'm, uh, I'm with Grandpa right now. I'm gonna put you on speakerphone.
Victor: What's wrong?
Nick: Listen, um, I'm at the hospital. Summer collapsed.
Victor: Why did she collapse?
Nick: She had something called high output congestive heart failure. Uh, she was unconscious when they brought her in. They weren't sure if she was gonna make it, but I was just in there with her now, and she opened her eyes, and she spoke to me.
Noah: [Sighs] Thank God.
Victor: Did the doctor say why she collapsed?
Nick: They don't have all the tests back yet, but... they think it may have been drugs.
Noah: Summer? No.
Nick: Someone said that she took some pills on the set.
Noah: Dad, I'm telling you, as upset as she was with fen for using, as worried as she's been about Courtney...
Victor: I'll be right there, my boy.
Nick: She really needs her grandpa right now, Dad. In fact, she needs all of us. And I need you, too.
Sharon: I should have called you first. I should have called you sooner. I'm sorry.
Jack: No, no, no, no. You panicked. You called Nick. Don't -- don't worry about that. Sit down.
Sharon: But still, Jack...
Jack: No, no. You -- you got her here safely. That's the important thing. She's gonna be all right. [Sighs] What is she thinking? What's she doing?
Sharon: The pills? You know what? Let's -- let's not worry about that until we know more.
Jack: Yeah, you're right. Who knows what those blood tests will turn up?
Sharon: Blood tests?
Jack: Look, we'll hope for the best and prepare for the worst. If it's, God forbid, drug addiction, I certainly know about that firsthand. Dealing with it every day of my life. If she inherited my weakness for that, I-I will never forgive myself. Never. [Inhales deeply] I'm getting ahead of myself, aren't I?
Nick: Hey, there you are. I've been looking all over for you.
Jack: Hey.
Sharon: Why? What happened?
Jack: Is it Summer?
Nick: She opened her eyes.
Sharon: Wow! That's great!
Jack: Did she say anything?
Nick: Uh, she looked at me, recognized me. She -- she said "Dad." Uh, but can you believe that?
Jack: Thanks. Excuse me.
Nick: Yeah.
Sharon: When can we see her?
Nick: Well, the doctor's still with her. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but I really think she's gonna be okay.
Sharon: I'm so happy for you and for Jack.
Nick: Yeah. Jack. I mean, poor guy. This has been hard on all of us, but for him? I mean, first Phyllis and Delia and now this? He's got to be wondering what the hell could possibly be next.
Adam: No, no, no, we can live without crown molding. What we cannot live without is plumbing. Plumbing. Plu-- plomberie. That how you -- look, if there's no running water by the time that we get there, then there's gonna be no commission for you. Do you understand that part? Hello? Hung up. That's wonderful.
Chelsea: Having fun?
Adam: Oh, if every day of my life could be like this, yeah. That'd be great.
Chelsea: Great, uh, well, before you call that guy back and continue to give yourself an ulcer, I need to talk to you for a second. I made this list of things that really need to get done before we leave for Paris.
Adam: If you're gonna suggest that we postpone the move, don't.
Chelsea: No, no. I wasn't gonna suggest that at all. Um, but about the list, I think I can handle most of these things except, um, I think I might need your help with the last one, so...
Adam: Uh, Chelsea, I-I have so much that I'm doing. I-I mean, what, diapers and shampoo -- you can get this stuff in Paris, Hon.
Chelsea: Just -- just -- just cut to the end of the list, Adam.
Adam: Cancel cable, bank, gym, blah, blah, blah... get married?
Kevin: Not one viable black S.U.V. with a plate that begins with a "Q" or a "C."
Officer: For what it's worth, I thought it was a good idea, too.
Kevin: I believed that witness. I believed he saw the license plate. And maybe he was just mistaken about the first letter. What he thought was a "G" could have -- [Sighs] Back to square one.
Officer: I'm sorry about the dead end, Kevin. I really am.
Kevin: Thanks, Pete. Whoever killed Delia is still out there, and I hope he's enjoying the last few days of freedom he's ever gonna see. [Sniffs] [Sniffs]
Billy: Hey. Kevin. How's it going?
Kevin: [Sighs] You know.
Billy: That wasn't a pleasantry. I meant the investigation.
Kevin: Yeah, so did I. Look, Billy, there's only so much I can tell you about this. You know that.
Billy: Yeah, okay, fine. But you can say yes or no, right? Is there any progress whatsoever?
Kevin: Yes, we are chasing a couple of leads. And I have a theory.
Billy: You do? That's great. Because so do I. I'm gonna bear in mind that it's just a theory, but I want to hear it. What do you got? Really, man? After everything you and I have been through, you're not gonna tell me what's happening because of some stupid, little rule or some regulation?
Kevin: It's not just a regulation, Billy. It's the law.
Billy: A law? You? Come on. You're afraid of breaking the law now?
Kevin: Well...
Billy: Can you just tell me what you're doing about it?
Kevin: I'm doing what I do best, and I'm doing it very well. All right. Your turn. What's your theory?
Chelsea: What do you say? Will you marry me, Adam? Will you make an honest woman of me before we jump on that plane?
[Cell phone, notepad thud]
Adam: No.
Chelsea: Wh-- no?! What do you mean, no?
Adam: Getting married at the top of the Eiffel Tower and getting married at the roof garden at the Genoa City Athletic Club? Come on. There's no -- look, I want to get the hell out of here, and you know that. Why don't I promise to give you the most romantic Parisian wedding ever?
Chelsea: I don't care about a romantic wedding. I care about us starting our life together in France as husband and wife, as our new family, the way -- the way it was supposed to be before.
Adam: So I guess you've heard the "Let's move to Paris and start a family" line before, Hon?
Chelsea: I'm not rehashing it. It is ancient history. But I would just hate to lose the same dream twice in one lifetime. That's all.
Adam: And you're okay with a justice of the peace? Are you sure?
Chelsea: As long as the paperwork is legal and you're the one standing there across from me saying "I do," that's l I need.
Adam: What are you doing sitting here? You got a wedding dress to go shop for.
Chelsea: [Gasps] Really? Yes! [Laughs]
Adam: [Laughs]
Chelsea: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!
Abby: The living area doesn't quite prepare you for a luxurious master bath.
Tyler: Okay. Does that mean you're warming up from your "Don't hate it" position?
Abby: [Chuckles] I might be. But I'm not quite there yet. Keep selling.
Tyler: All right. You know what? Picture this. Home theater system here.
Abby: Okay. [Laughs]
Tyler: Stretch leather sofa here. And here a candle-covered dining table. But as long as we keep enough room for...after-dinner slow dances nightly.
Abby: What are you doing? And for the record, whatever it is, I like it.
Tyler: Well, I want to see if we got enough privacy from here. Maybe we could put the custom-made bed here instead of in the bedroom.
Abby: Oh. What an interesting and convenient idea. I guess there's only one way to find out. [Chuckles]
Jack: Excuse me. I was told she's waking up. When can I see her?
Nurse: I'm sorry. You'll have to wait until the doctor's finished examining her.
Victor: That's all right, Nurse. Thank you.
Jack: Listen, Victor --
Victor: Spare me your tantrum. I will not leave until I see Summer.
Jack: Believe it or not, I wasn't gonna ask you to leave. I know in your own twisted way, you love my daughter, and she needs all the love and support she can get right now.
Victor: How magnanimous of you, Jack, considering that you are largely responsible for her being here in the first place.
Jack: What are you talking about?
Victor: I understand that her collapse may be drug-related.
Jack: One of the models of the shoot alleges Summer took something.
Victor: On a Jabot photo shoot, correct?
Jack: What are you implying?
Victor: I'm not implying a damn thing. I'm merely stating facts, Jack. If that model's allegations are true, then drugs were present during their photo shoot.
Jack: Okay, you can stop now.
Victor: Really? And if drugs were present during their photo shoot, it is not too far-fetched to think that Summer used them, the way her pill-addicted father would have used them.
Jack: Maybe you ought to quit while you're ahead.
Victor: What a wonderful legacy you're leaving that girl, that beautiful, sweet girl. You should be proud of yourself, Jack.
Jack: Whatever the consequences of Summer's actions, she and I will face them together, openly and honestly, because unlike you, I let my children know they are loved and supported and cared for without judgment. You can't begin to imagine the love I have for my daughter.
Victor: And her love for you is not what you imagine, I assure you. She was raised by my son, by Nicholas. She adores him. She loves him. A piece of paper ain't gonna erase it! You will never truly be Summer's father.
Sharon: How you holding up?
Nick: I'm better now. Thanks. It's really because of you. After everything you've done today, I owe you so much.
Sharon: Oh. I said it to Jack, and I'll say it to you. You have nothing to thank me for.
Nick: So he wasn't upset that you called me before you called him?
Sharon: Well, not after I explained it to him, no.
Nick: Well, then, why don't you explain it to me? Why did you call me first?
Sharon: Nick, who's the person I always call first when I'm in a crisis for the last, like, 20 years?
Nick: Anything else?
Sharon: What are you referring to?
Nick: Well, when we were outside Summer's room, you said you had something to tell me, and it sounded like it was gonna be important. Is there anything going on between Summer and Jack that I need to know about?
Sharon: Not that I'm aware of. You know, we haven't heard anything in awhile. Maybe you should contact Summer's doctor.
Nick: The nurse promised to text me if there was a change in Summer's status. Now, stop trying to avoid a conversation that you brought up in the first place. Look, Sharon, I know there's something going on with you. I want you to tell me what it is, and I want you to tell me now.
Sharon: Yes, Nick, I will tell you everything, but no, not right now.
Nick: Oh, for God's sake, Sharon. Why not?
Sharon: Because when you and I have that conversation, I'm gonna need 100% of your attention, and with Summer just regaining consciousness in a hospital bed, I don't have that, nor should I. Am I right?
Nick: I can't argue with that. But as soon as Summer's recovered, Sharon, we're gonna have that conversation.
Sharon: Absolutely. Now, I seem to recall offering you a cup of coffee. And how about a nice lukewarm mystery-meat burger from the cafeteria? Mmmm!
Nick: Oh, no, no, no. I can't eat right now.
Sharon: Coffee, soda, water, anything at all?
Nick: You could just keep me company. I feel like I'm gonna jump out of my skin soon.
Victor: Well, you're nothing if not predictable, Sharon. Got to give you that.
Noah: Hey. What the hell did you do to my sister?
Courtney: What -- what are you talking about?
Noah: Summer is in the hospital. Her heart went into overdrive. She could have died.
Courtney: How? What -- what happened?
Noah: No, don't -- don't sit there and act surprised, okay?
Courtney: No -- no, I am. I-I --
Noah: You can't be surprised. This happened because of the drugs that you gave her.
Billy: This hit-and-run is all I think about 24/7.
Kevin: I know the feeling.
Billy: I know you do, man. But it's like I'm looking right at him through a camera lens and I just can't focus the damn thing. But I'm getting closer. I'm getting closer.
Kevin: Good. Give me something to work with, and I promise you, I'll run with it.
Billy: Okay. I don't suppose that a flower at Delia's memorial site would be much help, would it? Hey, look, come on. Bear with me, man. I'm just saying it's a theory.
Kevin: So was that poor, innocent guy you wanted Chavez to lock up just because he drove a black S.U.V.
Billy: Yeah, I apologized for that. Thanks. Appreciate it.
Kevin: Hold on. Billy, Billy, Billy. Come on. Come on. Whatever this theory of yours is, you didn't just pull it out of thin air. Something had to trigger it. So, tell me. What is it, and I will be all over it.
Billy: I'll do better than tell you. I'm gonna bring it to you. Thanks.
Kevin: [Sighs]
Adam: [Sighs]
Chelsea: Do you know of all of the billions of people on the planet, there is not one -- there is not one person that is as happy as I am right now?
Adam: Actually, I think there's one in Florida who just won the lottery. Always seems like the people in Florida are the ones that won the lottery.
Chelsea: [Laughing] Stop it! I'm being serious! I'm being serious. I'm about to become your wife again, I have the most perfect baby that's ever been born. I know most parents say that, but it's actually true with Connor. Like, he really is the most perfect baby, right?
Adam: No, I actually agree with you. You're not being -- you're being objective completely. He is amazing.
Chelsea: We are about to get our fresh start in the most romantic city in the entire world. For the first time in my whole life, there's not -- there's not a single lie I'm trying to cover up or a single secret that might get out. I mean it, Adam. For the first time in my entire life... I'm not afraid.
Adam: I love you.
Tyler: Mwah. [Sighs] What do you know? It worked.
Abby: I beg your pardon?
Tyler: Well, I mean, we weren't exactly quiet, you know? But nobody was pounding on the walls and, you know, telling us to keep it down.
Abby: Uh, you said it yourself. Hardly anyone lives in this building.
Tyler: Yeah, you know, hopefully it stays that way.
Abby: Well, that'll happen, or I could buy the whole building and then we'd have lots of privacy.
Tyler: Okay, come on. Don't start.
Abby: [Laughs]
Tyler: You know what? I love it here. I do.
Abby: Hmm.
Tyler: I say we're home, Abby.
Abby: And you call me impulsive.
Tyler: Oh, come on. You're telling me you're not sold on this place yet?
Abby: Not completely. I think we should conduct the same experiment in like 50 or 60 different places, and then I'll really commit. [Chuckles]
Tyler: Oh, you know what? As much as I would actually love to do that, I do got to work for a living.
Abby: Ugh. You're no fun. All right. I love it here. Let's do this. [Laughs]
Noah: Do not play games with me, Courtney. I need to know what you gave Summer.
Courtney: Noah, I didn't give her anything. Is she gonna be okay?
Noah: I wish I knew.
Courtney: This just isn't like Summer. Are they sure? Never in a million years did I ever think that she would do drugs, Noah.
Noah: Yeah, well, I never thought that you would, either, so how stupid am I?
Courtney: Noah, I'm not using! That's the truth. I had nothing to do with Summer.
Noah: You're lying.
Courtney: Okay, Noah. You're right. I'm lying. I've been lying to you, and I've been lying to Summer.
Victor: If only you weren't half as protective to the Jabot models that you're paid to protect as you obviously are to my son.
Nick: All right, Dad, come on. Come on. Not now.
Sharon: Believe me, I am as devastated about Summer as you are.
Victor: Really? So, where were you when she took drugs? Where were you when my granddaughter was taking drugs? Huh? Taking a nap? Texting?
Sharon: You can't blame me any more than I already blame myself, so go right ahead.
Nick: On second thought, don't do that, all right? If it weren't for Sharon, Summer wouldn't even be here right now.
[Cell phone chimes]
Nick: It's Summer's nurse. We can see her now.
Jack: Hey, there. It's me.
Summer: Hey, you.
Jack: You have no idea how happy I am to see those eyes open.
Nurse: I'm sorry, Sir. Only one visitor at a time for now.
Nick: Nah, that's all right. She should have some time with her father.
Victor: Son, you belong by Summer's side. I'll throw that parasite out.
Nick: Dad, its okay. Jack's right where he should be right now.
Abby: Is everything okay?
Tyler: [Groans] Apparently not. Neil just tossed out all the photos from our last fashion shoot.
Abby: What? Why would he do that? That's insane. No. Go. I need to freshen up so I don't look like I've been doing exactly what we have been doing. I'll lock up and return the key, and then I'll see you later.
Tyler: Yeah?
Abby: Yeah.
Tyler: Thank you. By the way, welcome home.
Abby: Oh! [Laughs]
[Door closes]
Abby: [Humming] [Sighs] Yeah, right. Like I forgot my phone. Hello? Is somebody out there? Hello! What?
Noah: So you admit it. You've been lying to me and to Summer. Is it just the drugs, or is there more, hmm?
Courtney: I can't tell you, not yet.
Noah: [Scoffs] My sister's life is at stake here, but please, no, by all means, go ahead. Take your time.
Courtney: Noah, okay, I betrayed you, and I betrayed Summer. It's not in the way that you think.
Noah: Oh. Great.
Courtney: You deserve to know the truth, and I promise someday I'll tell you. I'll tell you all of it. I just hope that when that day comes that you can forgive me. I'm sorry.
[Door opens]
Jack: You gave us all quite a scare.
Summer: I'm sorry.
Jack: Don't be. You're okay, we're okay. And the doctors say you're gonna be fine.
Summer: I feel like I've been here before. In this room with Mom.
Jack: Well, it was a room like this. I don't know if it was the exact room.
Summer: Jack, I'm really sorry.
Jack: No, no, no, no. I told you. Don't go there. I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Seeing your eyes open, hearing you speak, knowing you're on the road to recovery... that makes me better than fine. That makes me great.
Nick: They're still waiting on the analysis of the pills in her system, but she's out of the woods. There's no permanent damage to her heart.
Sharon: I'm really happy for you both. Um, as long as we know she's no longer in danger, I think I go home to Faith. Unless there's something else you need.
Victor: I'm sure he'll manage to struggle along without you.
Nick: Look, uh, just give Faith a big kiss for me, all right? Thank you for everything.
Sharon: Okay.
Nick: Dad, no more about Sharon today, all right? We just got some very good news about Summer.
Victor: You won't hear another word from me about her, okay? I'm very happy about the news pertaining to Summer. I'm very happy about that.
[Adam dreaming]
[Toy dog barking]
[Barking continues]
[Barking stops]
[Barking resumes]
[Barking stops]
[Adam wakes up]
Adam: [Gasps]
Chelsea: Hmm. What is it? What's wrong?
Adam: It was a... bad dream. It's -- everything's fine. Go back to sleep.
Billy: "Each day is a chance for renewal, a shot at redemption and opportunity to balance the karmic scales." There we go. "Today, that is what I choose. Anonymous." You're not gonna be anonymous for long.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Dylan: Are you ready?
Avery: Yes. I know exactly what I'm supposed to do.
Paul: A complaint was filed. I am obliged to follow up. There were drugs at a photo shoot.
Jack: Who filed these charges?
Victor: I did.
