Christine: Morning. Caffeine to the rescue.
Paul: Holy smokes. 8:15? How the hell did that happen?
Christine: Well, I think it has to do with that space-time continuum, but my physics is a little rusty.
Paul: Thanks for the coffee, and, uh... thanks for not being mad at me.
Christine: I did miss you last night.
Paul: Mm. I am really sorry, Chris.
Christine: I understand. You're determined to prove that Michael didn't kill Carmine. So, what have you found? Anything?
Paul: Well, uh... I hit the wall around 4:00, and I probably should have come home when I realized that my brain had turned to mush.
Christine: Oh, you poor baby.
Paul: [Laughs]
Christine: Maybe this will give you a jump start.
Paul: Mm.
Jill: Gathering your employees together first so you could explain things about your family situation was a really wise move.
Lauren: Well, the gossip was just getting out of hand. I thought it was very important that everybody understand why my husband and my son are in prison.
Jill: Absolutely. It was heartfelt. It was dignified. I'm very proud of you, Sis.
Lauren: Thank you. And thank you so much for standing up there with me.
Jill: And I know you turned this offer down before, but if you ever feel that you're not up to working during this time of chaos --
Lauren: I really appreciate your kindness, but, actually, work is my salvation, you know? If I didn't have Fenmore's to distract me, I-I don't know if I could get through the day.
Jill: There's got to be some way out of this nightmare.
Lauren: I don't know. I have exhausted every possible legal channel.
Jill: There are always illegal ones.
Fen: You're out of solitary.
Michael: [Grunts] Pretend you don't care.
Fen: I am. Totally pretending.
Michael: You look good. Everything okay?
Fen: Way better than that. I found a way to fix things.
Lily: Ahh. That may have been the best omelet I have ever had.
Cane: Now that I've fed you, off to work you go.
Lily: But I just want to hang out with you.
Cane: Aww.
Lily: So, why don't we?
Cane: You want to play hooky?
Lily: Yeah. I have a light schedule.
Cane: I can't.
Lily: Why? What's on your calendar?
Cane: Big plans.
Lily: Oh, really? That's all I get?
Cane: For now, yes.
Lily: Oh, wait -- I know. You are coming back to Jabot.
Cane: Actually, it's better than that, but you're gonna have to wait to find out.
Devon: Here is the revised marketing budget for the fashion division.
Jack: You're still upset with me.
Devon: Disappointed. That's all.
Jack: Okay. I owe you an apology.
Devon: For being yourself?
Jack: For not telling Jill right away that you had too much integrity to spy on anyone, including Victor.
Devon: Well, I appreciate you saying that, Jack, and I'd like to think you've given up, but I'm not that naive.
Jack: Well, I'm not gonna lie to you. Battle plans are being drawn. I'm just trying to find the right weapon.
Kyle: After reviewing the new corporate structure, it seems to me that I can make the biggest impact in your lifestyles division.
Victor: Kyle, before we get into any of that, kindly remind me again of why you've come to me in the first place.
Kyle: I thought we'd covered that.
Victor: Well, refresh my memory.
Kyle: I'm not going anywhere at Jabot. Dad keeps saying, "Someday," but the truth is I'm ready now, and I want to be in an environment where I'll be encouraged to grow as an executive.
Victor: Mm-hmm. You've said that before.
Kyle: Well, it's the truth.
Victor: So, what does your dad have to say about that? Is he 100% behind you, or is he steaming mad?
Kyle: He is neither.
Victor: So, in other words, you haven't told him a damn thing, have you?
Paul: Well, good morning to you, too.
Christine: You feel more awake?
Paul: Yeah, ready to get back at it.
Christine: Oh, come on. You've been working for, what, 12 hours or longer? You need a break.
Paul: Yeah, well, uh, I'll take one right after I get Michael out of prison.
Christine: Ohh. You know, sometimes you have to kind of step back to let the ideas flow, and then something brilliant will come up. Didn't you say your brain was fried? Let's go out for breakfast or we'll grab our coffee and go for a walk or a ride. You need some fresh air.
Paul: Yeah, that sounds great, but I --
Christine: No, no. No "Buts." You have to eat -- wife's orders.
Paul: Well, I'll just pick up something here.
Christine: Yeah, one of those petrified sandwiches from the vending machine. Unh-unh.
Paul: I tell you what -- the minute I find the evidence to exonerate Michael and I nail the bastard who killed Delia, I will be yours -- I promise. What?
Christine: Nothing. Hey, Jordan, it's me. Uh, what's on my schedule this morning? You know what? Move that to this afternoon and then don't book anything else. I have something more important to do.
Lauren: Jill!
Jill: Nobody's listening to us.
Lauren: So, when you say, "Illegal," what exactly are you talking about?
Jill: Well, I don't know, but when the future of your family's at stake, don't you think you should explore all of your choices?
Lauren: I don't exactly think we could pull off a prison break.
Jill: I'm not talking about a prison break. But, for example, one of the criminal-court judges -- he and I, uh -- how shall I say? -- We go way back. Now, if I were to seduce him, maybe we could get Michael and Fen's case reopened.
Lauren: Are you saying that you would --
Jill: Oh, he's handsome. He's charming. He's intelligent, and, miraculously, he's not taken. So, trust me -- this would not be a hardship, especially if there's potential good to come out of it.
Lauren: That's very tempting.
Jill: Mm.
Lauren: But you know what? You know, if Michael found out, he would have a fit, and he and Fen are in enough trouble, and if somehow this became a scandal, it would be bad for Paul and Christine.
Jill: Oh, please. The people you hang out with -- they have too many scruples. It's kind of sickening, actually.
Lauren: [Chuckles]
Jill: [Chuckles]
Lauren: Thank you.
Jill: For what?
Lauren: For making me smile and for being there for me. I-I could not get through this without you.
Jill: You'll never have to, luckily.
Victor: Thank you.
Lauren: What is so fascinating about watching Victor and Kyle break bread?
Jill: Oh, trust me -- Victor is planning on breaking more than bread.
Kyle: No, I haven't told him yet.
Victor: You know he will not be happy?
Kyle: I don't see the point in saying, "Hey, Dad, I'm joining forces with your archenemy" until there's a deal on the table.
Victor: So, Kyle, you expect me to believe that you would just blindside him? Is that it?
Kyle: No, I expect you to believe that there's no sense in breaking his heart if this opportunity isn't real. So, with all due respect, I would prefer to discuss my potential career path at Newman-Chancellor to determine if this is a real opportunity.
Victor: And with all due respect to you, Kyle, you haven't given me a satisfactory answer yet as to why you've come to me. Why are you abandoning your birthright to be on my payroll? It doesn't make any sense to me.
Kyle: You know, it's like I've been saying -- I'm not taken seriously over there, not like I was when I worked for you last year. Over there, I'm just -- I'm the boss' son. I'm Jack's boy. I need to get away from him.
Victor: Hmm. To punish him? Is that it?
Devon: You know, Jack, I got to ask -- do you and Victor ever get tired of butting heads all the time? I would really think you'd have better things to do.
Jack: So, you think he should be allowed to bully his way through life -- just run roughshod over anything and everyone that crosses his path?
Devon: Okay. You really think he's that bad of a guy?
Jack: I do. Whatever you can imagine, it is worse.
Devon: Well, that's between the two of you. It's not my fight. So, I'm gonna go ahead and get back to work.
Jack: Considering you're set for life and then some, I have to tell you I appreciate that attitude, and I know Neil does, too.
Devon: I won't lie to you, Jack. I have thought about walking away from here -- but not until I find something to do with my life that really means something.
Jack: Something more important than the latest fashion trends?
Devon: I have yet to figure out what that is, but as soon as I do, you'll be the first to know.
Jack: I'm sure you'll know it when you see it. For what it's worth, we would miss you if you ever left Jabot.
[Cell phone rings]
Devon: Excuse me. It's the bank. They never call me.
Jack: Go ahead. Take it.
Devon: This is Devon Hamilton. Wait. Excuse me. How much was taken out?
Lily: Okay, I got it. You're becoming a professional tour guide and you're going on a safari and you're taking me with you.
Cane: Uh, no, but I plan that for another day.
Lily: Is it a job interview?
Cane: No.
Lily: Then -- do you even care at all that I'm gonna die from curiosity?
Cane: Ah, don't go dying, 'cause that would be very inconvenient.
Lily: Well, then, just tell me what it is!
Cane: I can't tell you what it is.
Lily: Why?!
Cane: I can't do it.
Roxy: Hi, there.
Cane: Hey, Roxy! That was really good timing!
Roxy: Oh.
Lily: [Laughs]
Cane: Come here, Baby.
Lily: Hi!
Roxy: Hey, Girl.
Lily: What's new with you?
Roxy: Oh, you know -- this, that.
Lily: Uh, starting with this fantastic bracelet. That's amazing!
Roxy: Thanks.
Lily: Do I have to ask who even got it for you?
Roxy: Your brother has been spoiling me rotten lately.
Lily: Oh, I'm sure. I had to cut him off before he bought the twins their own private merry-go-round.
Cane: Yeah, he's having a very hard time trying to figure out what to do with all that money.
Roxy: Whereas I have a lot of ideas on how to spend it.
Devon: Well, thank you for letting me know. Goodbye.
Jack: Problems?
Devon: A fraud alert went up on my bank account for a huge purchase that I didn't make.
Jack: Well, go. Deal with it.
Devon: Thank you.
Jack: Jill, its Jack. I wanted to give you a little update. Hilary gave me a list of Chancellor employees that Victor hasn't fired yet. Let's talk about how we want to proceed.
John: When in the world is this war of yours going to end?
Jack: When Victor Newman can't ruin people's lives with the wave of his mighty hand.
John: And here you are escalating the hostilities.
Jack: Did I or did not just do the right thing by not pressuring Devon?
John: Oh, Jack, please. That man has a mind of his own. You don't get any medals on that one.
Jack: No, I get a scolding. Victor screws me out of millions, and I get a scolding. I would like to win one of these battles.
John: That is the point, Jackie. Nobody wins! There's always casualties on both sides.
Victor: Kindly be honest with me, all right? Is that what all this is about? You want to get even with your father for one reason or another?
Kyle: No, not at all. I-I am just frustrated having to work for him.
Victor: And, Kyle, of all the companies you could have chosen, you chose mine to do it at? Why is that? You know how your father and I hate each other's guts.
Kyle: You own the two largest companies in town. That's a fact. If I want to further my career in Genoa City, where else am I gonna work? And not for nothing. When you and my mother were together, you were like a father to me. We got along great. I grew to respect you and look up to you because you treated me like a son. So, whatever's between you and my father -- that is between you two.
Victor: Well, you sound convincing.
Kyle: But you're not convinced? Maybe this will help.
Victor: What's this?
Kyle: Some ideas I have for your lifestyles division.
Victor: Why do you think they're not already being implemented at Jabot?
Kyle: I can prove it. Skip to the last page. It's an e-mail from my father responding to those very files that I sent to him.
Victor: "Kyle, thanks for the input, but I've decided to go in a different direction. Jack."
Kyle: Translation -- "Thanks but no, thanks. Don't let the door hit you in the you-know-what on the way out."
Victor: So, you felt dismissed?
Kyle: Wouldn't you?
Victor: That's interesting. Anyone who read this and didn't realize that... is a fool. It's very good, Son. Congratulations. You now work for me.
Kyle: That's fantastic.
Victor: And I have a feeling you'll be a real asset.
Michael: You can't fix things -- not in here.
Fen: Yeah? Well, it depends who you know.
Michael: What's going on? Does this involve the warden?
Fen: He's willing to cut a deal with me.
Michael: That son of a bitch. I told him to keep you out of it. Please tell me you haven't acted on this yet.
Fen: No, no. I haven't, but its okay. All I have to do is stay close to Womack -- get him to talk about who he was working for.
Michael: No. You cannot do this. It will get you killed.
Cane: All right. I am going to let you two beautiful ladies get on with your day while I go and take care of business.
Lily: You won't even give me a hint?
Cane: I can't give you a hint, Baby. I love you.
Lily: Love you.
Cane: Bye-bye.
Lily: Bye.
Roxy: A hint about what?
Lily: I don't know. My husband's planning something.
Roxy: Well, should I be worried? Should I alert the authorities?
Lily: No, not this time. I have a feeling it's a good thing.
Roxy: Hmm. Well, maybe it's contagious, 'cause I have a big surprise of my own.
Lily: Okay, tell me now, 'cause if you both you and Cane keep me in suspense, I'm not gonna be able to handle it. So, what is it?
Roxy: Okay. Well --
Devon: Hey, Lily.
Lily: Hi.
Roxy: Oh, will you look that? I was just thinking about you, and here you are.
Devon: Here I am. Do you mind if you and I speak in private for a minute?
Roxy: Of course. What's wrong?
Devon: Um... when I gave you that second debit card and said that you can buy anything you want -- clothes, jewelry, whatever -- I didn't think that you would go crazy. I mean, are you -- are you -- are you still interested in me, or is it just all about the money now?
Paul: [Laughs] I know that look.
Christine: You think so, huh?
Paul: Oh, yeah. And as much as I would like to do what people do behind locked doors --
Christine: Oh, don't tempt me.
Paul: What? Aren't you, uh --?
Christine: What, suggesting we get down and dirty right here -- handcuffs, everything?
Paul: [Laughs]
Christine: My gosh. You should see the look on your face right now.
Paul: Ohh. Well, if that's not what you're suggesting, then tell me -- what is it? I mean, why did you clear your schedule and all that?
Christine: You have been working on this case alone for days. I'm gonna jump in with you. We're gonna sift through the evidence. We're on the same side, so it's a new set of eyes. We can bounce ideas off each other. I think that would help. Don't you?
Paul: You're really something. You know that?
Christine: Oh, yeah, yeah. I do. [Chuckles] All right. Box or file?
Paul: Either one. Doesn't make any difference. Prepare to be frustrated, because every time I look into it, I find someone from Michael's family pulling the trigger.
Christine: And are we leaning more toward Fen or Lauren at the moment?
Paul: Oh, definitely Fen -- until I remember the missing crime-scene photos. Then I don't know what to think. There is something in those photos that could be the key finally getting justice in this case.
Christine: Okay. And in the meantime, you and Michael are working at cross purposes.
Paul: What do you mean?
Christine: Well, you want to free him, but Michael's sole mission is to get Fen out of prison -- so much so that he's willing to turn informant in return for his son's release.
Paul: Well, that's not surprising, considering what he's done already. But I'll tell you, as frustrating as it is for me as a cop, the father in me...really admires him for it.
Michael: It is too dangerous. You back out of this before you get hurt.
Fen: No, the warden promised me he'd protect me. And Womack likes me. He's looking out for me.
Michael: You listen to me right now. Nobody is nice to you in here ever unless they want something. That includes the warden. His promises are empty. How the hell is he gonna protect you when he's up in his office and you're down here in the yard or on the cellblock, chatting up a felon who has already killed before?
Fen: No, Womack told me -- he said it was a string of bad luck and he would up in here -- he's not even in for that long.
Michael: Only because they haven't been able to nail him on his big crimes. I'll tell you something else -- there's no way Christine knows about this. She wouldn't let me risk my life, and she sure as hell wouldn't let you gamble yours. The warden's fishing. He's trying to see what he can get before he even approaches Christine to make a deal for your freedom.
Fen: It's not me, Dad. It's you. I'm doing this to set you free.
Lauren: I think I have to go. I don't want to be late for my visit with Michael. Jill?
Jill: What?
Lauren: Hi. Remember me.
Jill: Oh. Sorry. I guess my mind just wandered, didn't it?
Lauren: Yeah, it wandered all the way back over to Victor's table.
Jill: Yes.
Lauren: Fascinating over there.
Jill: Would you believe it if I told you that he had the audacity to make me an offer of a job working for him at Newman-Chancellor?
Lauren: Hmm. And I guess you turned him down?
Jill: Oh, yes. I have no intention of working for Victor when Chancellor is rightfully my company.
Lauren: Katherine left it to Victor, though.
Jill: Don't remind me.
Lauren: Weren't you the one that told me that Kay's will had some sort of big underlying meaning and -- oh, my God. You know what? We've never talked about Switzerland. We got so wrapped up in my problems, you never told me about where all those clues led.
Jill: Switzerland was a giant wild goose chase.
Lauren: Aw, come on. There has to be more to it than that.
Jill: Well, I'm sure there is, but that trip was a waste of my time.
Lauren: You didn't discover anything?
Jill: Oh. Yes, I did. I discovered the name of the song -- that little ditty that the music box played. It's called "Ballerina." So, maybe Katherine is telling me that I should start a career as a dancer.
Lauren: [Chuckles] I don't think so.
Jill: I don't think so, either.
Lauren: But I do believe that there's still a message there. Don't you? There's no way that she would just leave you a meaningless trinket. Promise me you're not gonna give up.
Jill: No, I won't give up.
Lauren: Good.
Jill: Because I know that Katherine looked on life as a series of challenges, and her final challenge to me is to get Chancellor back from Victor.
Victor: As soon as you get your hair cut, Kyle.
Kyle: Are you serious?
Victor: [Laughing] Yes. I'm very serious. Anyway, human resources will expect you tomorrow morning, all right?
Kyle: I will be there bright and early.
Victor: You are now working for Newman-Chancellor.
Kyle: Thank you, Sir. You won't regret this.
Victor: All right.
Jill: Kyle, wait up.
Kyle: Oh, hey, Jill. How are you?
Jill: I'm fine. So, I noticed that you and Victor had your heads together. What was that about?
Kyle: Oh, yeah -- just, uh, talking business.
Jill: Hmm.
Kyle: Take care.
Jill: Mm-hmm.
Jill: Haven't you done enough? Do you not have an ounce of decency? Are you so desperate for a son to follow in your footsteps that anyone's will do?
Victor: Before you continue to condemn me, let me kindly finish my coffee, all right?
Roxy: How did you even find out?
Devon: So, you didn't want me to know how much you were spending? 'Cause, you know, the bank looks out for me. You set off, like, every fraud alert they have.
Roxy: No, l-let me explain. This was supposed to be a surprise.
Devon: Well, mission accomplished. I'm surprised.
Roxy: I didn't buy something for myself. You told me you wanted a new place, and I found this condo that is perfect... for the two of us so that, you know, we can finally move in together. I just had to put down some earnest money so no one else would grab it.
Devon: [Chuckles] A condo? We've been together for six years. Not once have you mentioned wanting to live together until I'm -- I'm a billionaire -- till now.
Roxy: Devon...
Devon: [Sighs]
Lily: Making your girlfriend cry in public? What was that about?
Jack: Victor started this war. I intend to finish it.
John: Oh. At the expense of your family?
Jack: Do I need to remind you that's why I invested in Newman in the first place -- to help a friend who desperately wanted a meaningful connection with his own father? I foolishly believed that Adam and Victor could maybe have a shot at a relationship like you and I had.
John: And now that you know better, now it's time to refocus -- to take care of matters in your own backyard. Billy needs your support now, and so does Summer. They both need to know that they can count on you. And you're certainly not gonna do any good egging Jill on. She's certainly gonna get burned trying to take on Newman. And then how are you going to feel?
Jack: Yeah, Jill probably is in over her head.
John: [Sighs] Jackie...Billy needs her, too. Will you just forget about Victor Newman?! This is no time for distractions! Family means more than revenge -- always!
Jack: Yeah, I know you're right. Maybe I ought to back off -- not that Jill is gonna follow suit. With all her history with Chancellor, she has more at stake in this fight than I do.
Jill: You ran Adam out of Newman, Nick wants nothing to do with your business, so this makes Kyle fair game?
Victor: You may recall that I was the young man's guardian for a while. Pretty natural that he would turn to me since his father has fallen so consistently short.
Jill: Oh, Kyle came to you? Are you sure you don't have that backwards?
Victor: Why don't you ask him how the meeting came about, okay? You might learn from that. Might help your own career.
Jill: You're not seriously asking me to work for you again, are you?
Victor: Jill, the door is always open. I can always use someone of your...tenacity.
Jill: Dream on, Victor.
Victor: I'll do that.
Jill: Let me give you a little advice -- don't count your empires before they're hatched.
Victor: Advice for you -- don't ever try to figure out a father-son relationship. It's very complex -- far too complex for you to understand.
Jill: [Sighs]
Christine: Richard Womack.
Paul: [Laughing] Oh, wow. That's some record, huh?
Christine: Well, he's certainly not the kind of guy you want to mess with. However, I was tempted to take Michael up on his offer to try and get closer to him.
Paul: That could lead to some juicy arrests.
Christine: Yeah. Of course, I would never do it. It would be like throwing Michael to the wolves. But, gosh, I would love to know who Womack is working for. We could really clean up with that information. But I wouldn't risk Michael's life, of course, so --
Paul: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Clean up -- that's it.
Christine: Wait. What?
Paul: I just have, uh, one of those brilliant ideas you were talking about. Just a minute.
Michael: Listen, Son, the fact that you're willing to take this risk --
Fen: Dad, I owe you. I killed Carmine. I deserve to be the one with the 10-year sentence.
Michael: No, Fenmore. That's --
Fen: Dad, you don't deserve to be in here. You've got to let me do this.
Michael: Son... I was, um...raised by two men that [Chuckles] Had no business being around kids, and, for the longest time, I-I didn't think I wanted to have my own, you know, 'cause of my -- my rotten experience growing up. But then you came along, and you changed everything. You taught me, Fenmore, what it means to really be a father. It's my job to protect you. It's my job to keep you safe. And that's why you're gonna listen to me. You are gonna forget about deals and chatting up your fellow inmates. Your goal should be to do your time and to get the hell out of here as fast as possible. And, in the meantime, the only person that you can trust in this place... is me.
Fen: [Sniffles]
[Jack remembering]
Jack: Of course I trust you.
Kyle: Then let me be your inside man at Newman-Chancellor.
Jack: It is bad enough that Summer is caught in the middle of my war with Victor.
Kyle: You can't compare my relationship with victor to Summer's.
Jack: No, you're right -- I can't. You actually have a friendship with him. You worked with him. Hell, you lived with him for a while. I don't want you to have to choose between him and me.
Kyle: There is no choice! I'm an Abbott.
Jack: You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear you say those words.
Kyle: Well, honestly, I shouldn't have to say it. You should know that I feel that way.
Jack: I do, but it's just you don't get to declare that too often. It is nice to hear some Abbott pride in your voice.
Kyle: Maybe it was seeing everybody come together for Uncle Billy or -- I don't know -- maybe it's just growing up. Whatever it is, I realize now how important it is for all of us to be there for each other.
Jack: You're right. It is.
Kyle: Then let me do this. Let me help you hurt Victor.
Jack: No. It is dangerous.
[Back to present]
Kyle: Hey. Am I interrupting?
Jack: No, not at all. Actually, your timing is perfect.
Kyle: Oh, yeah?
Jack: Yeah. I've been -- I've been thinking a lot about you, about family.
Kyle: Actually, I, uh -- I have been thinking about family, too.
Jill: Oh, Kyle. How can you say that... when you're working with the enemy?
Jack: What are you talking about?
Jill: Go ahead. Tell him.
Kyle: I just convinced Victor to hire me.
Jack: [Sighs]
Devon: I think I'm justified. I mean, who buys a condo as a surprise?
Lily: Uh, couples with billion-dollar credit cards?
Devon: Okay. I...guess I blew it.
Lily: Devon, you tell your girlfriend to buy whatever she wants, and then when she shows you what she really wants is you, you call her a gold digger. I mean, that's insulting.
Devon: I'm gonna apologize to her.
Lily: Well, good luck with that.
Devon: Think that's gonna be enough?
Lily: [Sighs] All I'm saying is that you and Roxy have been together for a very long time, and this mind-blowing amount of money just falls into your lap. It's like who knows what could happen next? You could get on a jet tomorrow and disappear. So, everything being so unsettled, it's only natural for her to want some sort of commitment. But instead of acknowledging that, you basically just call her materialistic. I'd be in the bathroom crying, too, if I were her.
[Footsteps approach]
Devon: I'll make things right, okay?
Lily: Hey.
Devon: Baby... I'm sorry.
Roxy: Don't be. It's handled.
Devon: What's handled?
Roxy: I called the realtor and told him to cancel it. I'm not moving anywhere.
Lauren: Oh, my God. [Breathing heavily] What is it? Is it Fen? Is he okay?
Michael: Shh. Tch, tch, tch. Despite everything our son has done... I'm proud of him.
Christine: So?
Paul: So... I think I might have a way to get Michael out of prison.
Michael: When I heard what Fenmore was willing to do for me [Chuckles] I nearly lost it. Of course, I couldn't, 'cause if anyone had seen...
Lauren: You talked him out of it, didn't you?
Michael: I believe I have.
Lauren: Jill reminded me this morning that life is a series of challenges, and [Chuckles] Just -- [Voice breaking] I hope to God I'm up for this one.
Michael: I don't know another woman on the face of this planet that has been through as much as you have and handled it half as well. You're gonna make it through this. We all will.
Lauren: Even Fen?
Michael: I'm gonna do whatever it takes to protect my son -- whatever it takes. I give you my word.
Womack: How's it goin', Kid?
Fen: Fine.
Womack: I want you at my table when we eat tonight.
Fen: Okay.
Christine: The list of evidence from the murder scene.
Paul: Yeah, yeah, but take a look at that.
Christine: A cocktail napkin, Athletic Club logo, lipstick blot.
Paul: Lauren's lipstick. We had traces of her DNA.
Christine: Why didn't you tell me this earlier?
Paul: Because it didn't seem significant at the time. When I talked to Lauren about it, she claimed she had no idea how the napkin got there, and she had a plausible scenario.
Christine: Which was?
Paul: Carmine is obsessed with her. Maybe he saw her blot her lipstick and decided to take the napkin as a souvenir.
Christine: You said you don't believe that Lauren is a suspect.
Paul: I don't, but the evidence suggests otherwise. I want to take that napkin to the conviction-integrity unit.
Christine: With this evidence and Fen's insistence that he killed Carmine --
Paul: Look, Chris, there are so many unanswered questions in this Basco murder.
Christine: Okay, and, being D.A., I may be able to get Michael released while we reopen this case.
Devon: Babe... listen, I was caught off guard, and I said some dumb things without thinking.
Roxy: I remember when you were talking about moving to London to work for Tucker, right? You didn't even ask me how I felt. You just went ahead and you did whatever you wanted. So, in a way... I get how you could think that I love your money more than I love you. It is clear to me that this relationship is one-sided.
Devon: That's not true.
Roxy: From my perspective, it is.
Devon: Listen to me. Listen, okay? I flipped out 'cause for a split second, I thought you were taking advantage, which I know is stupid. It's stupid of me to think. Maybe all this money's making me paranoid. I don't know. I do know I would love nothing more than to check out a condo with you -- with you -- do it together -- that is, if you will forgive me for this. Baby, I am sorry that this happened.
Roxy: I'm not... because it shows me exactly where I stand with you.
Cane: [Sighs]
Lily: Hey.
Cane: Hey. Hey. What's the deal with those two?
Lily: Uh, they had a pretty big blow-up.
Cane: Oh.
Lily: So, why are you back already? Did your plans fall through?
Cane: Just the opposite.
Lily: Okay, no more mystery. Where did you go?
Cane: I went somewhere that's going to change our lives.
Lily: Will you just tell me? Stop it.
Cane: Hmm. I'd rather show you. Come.
Jack: Why would you do something like that?
Kyle: I told you I wanted to help you. I wanted to help the family.
Jack: By taking a job with Newman-Chancellor? How does that help anyone but Victor? I wish you hadn't gotten involved in this.
Kyle: Dad, it's too late. I'm in.
Victor: I told the young man that you were expecting him. That's right. Have all his paperwork ready, okay? So, you know what I want? You give him total clearance.
Jack: Now what do we do?
Jill: I don't see that we have much choice. Kyle has made the decision for us.
Kyle: Look, just -- just stop worrying. I'll learn everything I can about Newman-Chancellor from the inside. I will learn the weak spots, and we can exploit them.
Jack: And you think Victor doesn't know exactly what you're up to?
Victor: Yes, total clearance. Do I trust him? Who said anything about trusting him?
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Cane: You should never underestimate the power of being madly in love.
Devon: Are you breaking up with me?
Adam: What did you want to talk about?
Billy: I know what you're doing, and I know why.
