Episode # 9919 ~ Jack & Victor Spar Over "Beauty of Nature"
Provided By Suzanne
Proofread By Emma
Cane: (Sighs)
Lily: We have time.
Cane: Yeah, I know. Christine has already called three times this morning, telling me I could testify against my mom before the deportation hearing.
Lily: Are you thinking about it?
Cane: While, it would make things a lot easier, I can't do it.
Lily: Listen, I told you, it doesn't matter where we are. As long as you, Charlie, and Matty and I are together we're gonna be fine.
Chris: I don't have much time.
Genevieve: You're rushing off to Ethan's deportation hearing.
Chris: I was hoping to talk to him before the hearing.
Genevieve: That won't be necessary.
Chris: Why did you want to see me?
Genevieve: You want to know where I got the funds to buy Beauty of Nature, where all the cash in Colin's accounts has gone.
Chris: We're talking about millions of dollars that were amassed with total disregard for the law and human life.
Genevieve: If anyone's aware of what my ex-husband is capable of, it's me.
Chris: Well, that doesn't entitle you to his blood money.
Genevieve: I will turn it all over to you. I'll tell you everything you want to know, if and only if you will leave Ethan alone... for good.
Chris: Let's hear what you have to say.
Genevieve: Do we have a deal?
Chris: We want the truth, not Cane.
Genevieve: Let's do this.
Chris: Whenever you're ready.
Avery: There's no chance you can stop Genevieve from coming clean with the justice department?
Victor: She's determined to help her son. Well, a strange time to develop maternal feelings.
Avery: It's the worst. Jack's case goes on the docket tomorrow. The judge already ruled that the selling of Beauty of Nature, Adam's selling, was legal, and now if Genevieve's purchase is voided, it strengthens Jack's case that he's the legal owner of the company.
Victor: We can't let that happen.
Avery: Well, we can challenge the judge's ruling regarding the sale, but I don't think it's gonna do any good.
Victor: So Adam played by the rules for once.
Avery: Mm-hmm.
Victor: The question is, did everyone else? Do you still have the minutes reflecting how every board member voted on Adam's proposal to sell Beauty of Nature?
Avery: I do, right here.
Victor: Oh, yeah. I'll be damned. Just as I thought.
Avery: What do you have?
Victor: Jack Abbott ain't gonna get his hands on that company. How's that?
Nikki: Well, I got here as fast as I could. What's going on?
Jack: Sit down. (Clears throat)
Nikki: Okay.
Jack: I just got back from the hospital. Remember the tests I told you about?
Nikki: Yeah, yeah. Uh, you said that they were just routine.
Jack: Well, they were anything but routine. The other day, I thought I felt my toe move.
Nikki: Jack, really? Oh, my God!
Jack: Well, Dr. Isaacs was convinced that it was just my brain remembering what it was like to feel my foot move.
Nikki: (Sighs) That must have been so disappointing.
Jack: Oh, it was devastating. So angry, I wanted to quit, but Billy talked me out of it. Billy gave me a real pep talk, told me I needed to work twice as hard with Sarge.
Nikki: That's why you've been pushing yourself so much.
Jack: It paid off, Nikk. The day before yesterday, Mrs. Martinez stepped on my foot accidentally, and I felt it. I felt it.
Nikki: (Gasps)
Jack: And then Mrs. Martinez saw my reaction, so I know it wasn't just in my head. The tests prove it.
Nikki: Oh, Jack.
Jack: It's happening. No doubt about it. The feeling's coming back in my legs.
Nikki: Ohh. (Laughs)
Daisy: Ricky.
Ricky: Drink up. I need your help with something.
Daisy: No, I have to get home to Lucy.
Ricky: Not unless you want to go back to prison.
Daisy: I'm getting really tired of your threats.
Ricky: They're not threats if you follow through with them. Like if I told Daniel that you were the one who staged that phony disappearance of Lucy-- you know, the one that caused him to lose custody of her.
Daisy: That's a lie.
Ricky: It doesn't matter, as long as Daniel believes it.
Daisy: What do you want me to do?
Phyllis: Why are you talking to him?
Daisy: Who I talk to is none of your business.
Phyllis: Yeah, it is my business if you're talking to him. What are you up to?
Daisy: You don't have to answer her.
Ricky: I don't mind. (Sighs) I'm subletting an apartment from Daisy, and I was just asking her if she wanted me to pay her the rent money, or give it to the landlord directly. No big deal.
Daisy: Happy? Oh, wait, I don't care. You know what? You can just write a check to the landlord.
Ricky: Will do.
Nick: If you're done...
Ricky: I am. See you later.
Phyllis: Why are you renting your apartment to him?
Daisy: He covers my rent.
Nick: Let's get our coffee.
Daisy: What are you doing? Phyllis and Nick are right inside.
Ricky: Okay, shut up and listen. I need the copy of the key that you made for Phyllis' apartment.
Daisy: I don't have it with me right now.
Ricky: Well, then get it and meet me there.
Daisy: I can't. I--
Ricky: Now.
Genevieve: The statements I've made can be verified... (Clears throat) By examining Colin's business ledgers, my personal accounts, and all accounts related to F.M.N. I will turn in all of my financial records today, to the department of justice, and they can verify that I drained my husband's accounts of a vast fortune that he amassed while running illegal operations in Europe, U.S., and Australia. I think that's it.
Chris: (Sighs) That's more than enough.
Genevieve: To keep Cane from being deported?
Chris: He never should have been caught up in this in the first place, and now, thanks to you, he won't be.
Genevieve: And what about me? Can you offer me something for all that I have told you?
Chris: I'll recommend no jail time. I can't make any promises. As far as the assets go, anything that was connected to your husband's illegal activities will be confiscated.
Genevieve: (Chuckles) That's pretty much everything.
Chris: Well, they never really belonged to you.
Genevieve: Ah, the moral high road-- one I've never traveled.
Chris: It'll be a new experience for you.
Genevieve: (Laughs) Discount malls and coupons. Ooh, I can't wait.
Chris: You did the right thing.
Genevieve: All kidding and terror aside, I know that.
Chris: So do you want to call Cane, tell him the good news? I'll call immigration and put a stop to the deportation hearing.
Cane: (Exhales slowly) All right, it's time to go. Let's go get this done.
Lily: Yeah.
(Cell phone rings)
Cane: It's my mother. Hello?
Genevieve: Ethan, I'm so glad I caught you.
Cane: I don't have time to talk right now. I'm on the way to the deportation hearing.
Genevieve: No, it's been canceled.
Cane: What? Why?
Genevieve: Come to Gloworm, and I'll explain everything.
Cane: All right, I'll be there soon. The deportation hearing has been canceled.
Lily: That's great.
Cane: (Exhales slowly)
Lily: Right? I mean, what-- what did Genevieve say?
Cane: Uh, she wants us to meet her at Gloworm. All right, let's go. We'll find out what she's up to.
Nikki: There you are, Sir.
Jack: Thank you.
Nikki: No problem pretty soon, you'll be waiting on me.
Jack: Well, it could be a while before I'm walking again.
Nikki: But there's hope.
Jack: Oh, there is hope. It's like a new beginning to my life. Honestly, just when I was starting to think I had zero chance of ever recovering, and now...
Nikki: So how come you didn't tell me what was happening?
Jack: Do you mean about the tests?
Nikki: Yeah, and--and before that, when you could feel your toe move?
Jack: I didn't want to build your hopes up only to disappoint you.
Nikki: Jack, you could never disappoint me. I get to share your life, and that means everything, the good and the bad.
Jack: I love you.
Nikki: Well, what a coincidence, because... I feel the same way. So... why don't we go out and celebrate your big news?
Jack: You name the place, Baby.
Nikki: How about the Athletic Club?
Victor: You meet me at the Athletic Club. Newman business. And we'll discuss your seat on the board of directors. You bet. Now. Thank you.
Avery: You really think this is gonna work?
Victor: Let's just say that Holloway had a clear conflict of interest when he voted for Newman Enterprises to sell Beauty of Nature.
Avery: Well, it's no secret that he's an employee of F.M.N. most of your board members hold positions at other companies.
Victor: But he didn't tell anyone that he knew of Genevieve Atkinson's interest in purchasing the company.
Avery: You think he knew about that?
Victor: You bet he did. He knew everything.
Avery: Creating an opportunity for his employer.
Victor: If he had voted against the sale of the company or had even abstained from voting, Beauty of Nature would never have gone on the auction block, and Jack Abbott would not have been able to make his bid or be in a position to own the company.
Avery: Legally, this is a very good case.
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Avery: It's all gonna depend on what Holloway will admit.
Victor: I'll convince him that to tell the truth is in his best interests, okay?
Avery: Not to mention yours.
Victor: Jack Abbott won't know what hit him.
Avery: Thank you.
Phyllis: We didn't have to leave Crimson Lights.
Nick: Right, 'cause it didn't bother you at all seeing Daisy and Ricky.
Phyllis: Yeah, that was a whole lot of ugly in the room.
Nick: Looked like your head was about to explode.
Phyllis: If any heads were going to explode, it was gonna be theirs.
Nick: Yeah.
Phyllis: Yeah.
Nick: Definitely a good thing we left.
Phyllis: (Sighs) You know why I go into attack mode when I see them. You understand, right? I mean, you saw that.
Nick: I totally get it.
Phyllis: Thank you.
Nick: You're looking out for your family, but I have to look out for you.
Phyllis: You don't have to protect me.
Nick: Okay, but will you take one small piece of advice?
Phyllis: Does it matter if I say no?
Nick: Not at all. Daisy's married to your son and she's Lucy's mom, so you're gonna have to deal with her. Now Ricky, on the other hand--
Phyllis: Yeah, Ricky, on the other hand. Steer clear of Ricky. I know. I would, if he wasn't hanging around Daisy all the time. I mean, what's up with that? I can't even imagine the two of them together, what they could come up with. Honestly, it frightens me.
Daisy: Key to Phyllis' apartment. Now leave me alone.
Ricky: Where do you think you're going?
Daisy: I am going home to my husband and my daughter.
Ricky: Think again.
Daisy: I copied the key. I put it in your hand. What more do you want from me?
Ricky: You're gonna be my lookout.
Daisy: What do you think this is, a buddy movie?
Ricky: We are friends, Daisy. We look out for each other. We help each other out, because if we don't, then one of us might end up getting hurt.
Daisy: Hurry up.
Ricky: Good girl.
Daisy: (Sighs)
Cane: I didn't realize you were going to be here.
Chris: Yeah, have a seat.
Cane: Uh, my mom said the deportation hearing was canceled.
Chris: That's right.
Cane: So if--if you're expecting me to suddenly testify, it's just--
Chris: No, no, that won't be necessary. We got the information we needed.
Lily: From whom?
Genevieve: Me.
Cane: You? You--you told them where the missing money from Dad's accounts went?
Genevieve: I am turning in all my financial records. They can't threaten you, Ethan, not with jail or deportation or anything.
Cane: You did this for me?
Genevieve: Yes.
Cane: Why did you do that?
Genevieve: You're my son.
Lily: So this means that...
Cane: (Clears throat)
Lily: We don't have to leave Genoa City. The twins can grow up with their family.
Genevieve: Yes, they can. This is their home and yours. I didn't have a right to tear you away from that.
Lily: I don't know what to say. Thank you so much. Thank you. (Chuckles)
Chris: I talked to my office and the immigration authorities. Neither of them should be giving you any more trouble.
Cane: So what does this mean for my mother?
Nikki: Well, we're going to need something to toast your good news.
Jack: I will order a bottle of their very best sparkling cider.
Nikki: Oh, you're very sweet.
Victor: Well, now...
Nikki: Oh.
Victor: If it isn't Jack Abbott and Nikki.
Nikki: Hello.
Jack: Hello.
Nikki: Don't let us interrupt your business.
Victor: Wouldn't want to spoil your celebration. It might be prudent.
Davis: You've known from the day I took my seat on the Newman board that I worked for F.M.N. I never denied that or tried to hide it.
Avery: You used your position to help F.M.N. illegally acquire one of Newman's subsidiaries.
Davis: I cast my vote on a matter brought up before the board, like all the board members.
Avery: You voted to sell, without disclosing that your employer was interested in buying Beauty of Nature.
Davis: I had no idea Ms. Atkinson planned to participate in the bidding auction for Beauty of Nature.
Victor: You expect me to believe that?
Davis: You have no proof to the contrary.
Victor: You were dead set against Newman Enterprises starting a new cosmetics line... until Genevieve Atkinson showed up and needed my help with Mitsukoshi. To secure that help, she asked you to drop your position.
Victor: Now... I can bring you both down, or you help me to go after her.
Davis: What do you want me to do?
Avery: I'll draw up a statement for you to sign. Once the documents are executed, I will file the brief with Judge Shaughnessy.
Victor: Mm-hmm. You let me know when that is done, all right? Maybe then we have something to celebrate on our own.
Jack: Thank you. (Inhales deeply) To beating the odds.
Nikki: (Chuckles)
(Glasses clink)
Nikki: You have cornered the market there.
Jack: Well, you can get Jack Abbott down, but never count him out.
Nikki: I'm sure Victor is regretting that he did.
Jack: We're still not there, are we?
Nikki: Where?
Jack: That place where you don't always think about Victor.
Nikki: Now you were thinking about him, too. Beauty of Nature ownership-- that's all Victor. You can't tell me that's just business.
Jack: I'll tell you what-- I won't rub my triumph in Victor's face if you won't worry about how this loss gonna crush him.
Nikki: Well, I don't know that either one of us could stick to that deal.
Jack: No matter how many times this man hurt you, you can't stand the idea of him being hurt.
Nikki: Okay, here's a compromise. Let's focus on why we are here celebrating.
Nikki: You could be walking soon. Let's think about that. Let's talk about that. All these other thoughts about Beauty of Nature and Victor and your feud with him-- let's just put all of that out of our minds.
Jack: It's a tall order, but for you, I'll try.
Daisy: What are you looking for this time?
Ricky: I'm not exactly sure.
Daisy: You're searching for something to use against Phyllis and you're not even sure what it is?
Ricky: I'll know it when I see it.
Daisy: How do you know it even exists?
Ricky: Because her shrink said it did.
Daisy: You ever think he might be lying?
Ricky: (Sighs) Phyllis has some nasty skeletons in her closet, and I am going to find them.
Daisy: Well, hurry up, before Phyllis finds us first.
Phyllis: I wish I knew what those two were up to.
Nick: You know, that is chamomile tea. It's supposed to make you relax, but you're gonna have to take a drink of it first.
Phyllis: You know, yoga makes me relax, but I don't even think downward dog would untwist the knots that are in my neck.
Nick: You know, this isn't like you. You're letting these two punk kids get you off your game. Is something else going on?
Phyllis: It didn't help that Danny and Christine showed up in town at the exact same time.
Nick: Stirring up some old memories?
Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah, mostly bad ones, added to a week full of stuff.
Nick: You know what? I know just the thing to make you wipe everything out of your mind. I mean, this never fails to make you forget your troubles.
Phyllis: Oh.
Nick: But we're gonna have to go back to your place to do it.
Phyllis: Oh, what could it be?
Nick: Video games.
Phyllis: O, yeah, video games.
Nick: Yeah.
Phyllis: Ooh, I can get all my aggressions out on the bad guys. I can just annihilate the bad guys.
Nick: Yeah, you can. Let's go kick some virtual butt.
Phyllis: (Laughs)
Chris: The Cayman accounts, the domestic accounts, all F.M.N. monies, and Beauty of Nature. What about her personal assets? Has there been a decision about possible jail time? Okay, yep. Thank you so much. I'll tell her. Yep, got it. Well, all your accounts have been frozen, so I would advise you not to try and access any of them.
Cane: What about prison? Is it off the table?
Chris: Not yet. I'll contact the chief negotiator on the case and see if I can't finalize a deal.
Lily: Well, you will be fighting for Genevieve, right?
Chris: I will do what I can, but you did get what you wanted out of this.
Genevieve: I did.
Chris: I'll be back when I hear something.
Cane: You could lose everything.
Genevieve: Not everything.
Cane: How are you gonna live?
Genevieve: With a clear conscience.
Cane: (Chuckles) Well, that doesn't exactly pay the bills.
Genevieve: Mm. I can figure something out.
Cane: Are you sure you want to do this?
Genevieve: I couldn't possibly take you away from the one thing that I was never able to give you-- a real home. And I don't mean just the house that you and Lily are living in. I mean this place and the people that you have come to think of as your family. It would be wrong for me to take you away from all that.
Cane: You gave up your life so I could have mine.
Genevieve: I acted like a mother. About time, isn't it?
Daisy: (Sighs)
Ricky: 1994. Here we go.
Daisy: You found something?
Ricky: (Sighs) Not yet, but in the ballpark.
Daisy: Oh, my God, this is such a waste of time.
(Elevator ascending)
Daisy: Ohh. The elevator's on its way up.
Ricky: Damn it, why didn't you give me more warning?
Daisy: I just heard it.
Ricky: Well, get out there. You're supposed to be paying attention. Stall them.
Daisy: You're never gonna get this cleaned up.
Ricky: Just do it.
Daisy: (Sighs) Okay.
Phyllis: What are you doing here?
Daisy: I came to see you.
Phyllis: Okay, you said you wanted to talk to me.
Daisy: Uh, huh?
Phyllis: Daisy, you wanted to talk to me.
Daisy: (Chuckles) Right. Uh, yeah, I want to-- I want to talk to you.
Phyllis: Yeah, about what?
Daisy: Um, well, what happened at Crimson Lights-- you misunderstood what was going on between me and Ricky, and I just--I wouldn't want to do anything that would change or mess up our relationship, you know, uh...
Phyllis: Yeah, it's a little too late for that.
Daisy: Phyllis, we have to get along, for Lucy and Daniel's sake.
Phyllis: Wh-what are you doing? What are you up to?
Daisy: Nothing.
Phyllis: Uh, okay. You know what? You can go.
Nick: Yeah.
Daisy: No, Phyllis, please--
Nick: No, no, no. It's--it's time to go.
Phyllis: Yeah, no, I've heard enough. I've heard enough for--for today, ten days.
Nick: It's time to go. Next time--next time you would like to see or speak to her, you need to call first.
Daisy: Uh--mm.
Nick: (Sighs) You okay?
Phyllis: I hate her. I hate her. I hate her. I hate her. She's a backstabber. She's a liar. She is the biggest liar I have ever met.
Ricky: (Whispering) Come on, come on. Voice memo, record, anything. (Exhales sharply)
Nikki: Excuse me, Darling. Powder check.
Jack: Sure.
(Cell phone rings) (Ring)
Victor: Yes?
Jack: Avery.
Avery: Hello, Jack.
Jack: Hi, I'm Jack Abbott. You're, uh, Davis Holloway. You work for F.M.N., right?
Davis: That's right.
Jack: You also sit on the Newman board. What were the two of you discussing, Newman business or F.M.N.?
Avery: Jack, you don't expect us to answer that, do you?
Davis: Why not? Everyone will know sooner or later.
Avery: Later would be better.
Jack: Know what?
Davis: Victor's concerned I may have had a conflict of interest when I voted to sell Beauty of Nature.
Jack: He wants to nullify the vote.
Davis: Exactly.
Jack: I believe Judge Shaughnessy has already ruled that sale was valid.
Davis: Well, it's not stopping Victor. Ms. Clark's getting ready to file a brief with the judge.
Jack: I'm afraid Ms. Clark's Hail Mary is gonna come up a little short.
Victor: Uh-huh. Well, your company has lost profits three quarters in a row. By that reckoning, in half a year, company will be worth half of what I'm willing to offer you now. You got 24 hours to make up your mind.
(Cell phone rings)
Victor: Don't let me keep you.
Nikki: Actually, I wanted to thank you. The lunch that you hosted in Cassie's honor was lovely. I think she would have been very happy to see us all together.
Victor: You know, Cassie was a rather wise young girl. Would have been stunned and not too happy to see you with Jack Abbott.
Nikki: I wonder what she would think about you being with her mother.
Victor: Jack Abbott is a loser, always was a loser, and always will be a loser.
Nikki: Not this time.
Victor: Good luck to you.
Lily: (Sighs) I can't believe this is happening.
Cane: Yeah, maybe because my mother doing what's right defies everything, huh?
Lily: Listen, your mom loves you, Cane, okay? She couldn't have done this if she didn't.
(Footsteps approach)
Genevieve: (Sighs) Well, um...
Cane: So...
Genevieve: It went pretty well.
Lily: Yeah?
Genevieve: Yeah. On the half-full side, I'm not going to jail.
Lily: Oh, my God.
Cane: (Exhales slowly)
Lily: That's great!
Cane: That's fantastic. Oh, my God.
Lily: That's great.
Genevieve: (Sighs) And the half-empty side, that would be all of my bank accounts.
Phyllis: I didn't think it could get any worse. Ho-honestly, I didn't think that it could get any worse than her ripping Lucy out of my arms, but it has. Daisy has trapped my son into a marriage. She is playing house with Daniel. She's using that kid as a prop in her own crazy, made-up world. She comes over here and she wants to be friends. I'd rather be friends with a pit bull. She's ruined my life, she's ruined my son's life, she'll ruin Lucy's life. I swear, I swear, if I could, I would kill her, and--
Nick: Okay, listen, you gotta calm down.
Phyllis: No, no, I-I would kill her. I-I would.
Nick: Okay, okay. You know, we came home so we could--so we could relax.
Phyllis: I don't want to play video games.
Nick: Oh, we don't have to play video games, okay? Why don't you let me, uh, draw you a bath, all right? You can get in there, I could give you a massage...
Phyllis: No, I don't want to.
Nick: All right, well, you know, there's... there's other stuff we could do upstairs...
Phyllis: Okay.
Nick: That's guaranteed to take your mind off things.
Phyllis: Okay.
Ricky: (Exhales sharply)
Daisy: Do you know how close we were to being caught?
Ricky: We're fine. Just relax.
Daisy: If you ever put me in that position again, you will not have time to spread lies about me kidnapping Lucy.
Ricky: What are you gonna do? You gonna go crazy on me? You gonna lock me in a cage?
Daisy: (Whispering) You don't know what I'm capable of.
Ricky: Two-way street, Lady.
Daisy: (Normal voice) You know what? I hope you found what you were looking for in there, because we are one.
Ricky: I found these... and a little bit of a bonus. (Sighs)
Daisy: What are you talking about?
Ricky: Something I can use against Phyllis when the time is right.
Chris: I am so sorry for what I put you and your family through.
Cane: It's okay. You did what you had to do, and I appreciate you, uh, keeping my mom out of jail.
Chris: Good luck to all of you.
Cane: Thank you.
Chris: Bye.
Lily: Well, I'll be right back.
Genevieve: Are you okay?
Cane: I'm okay. Are you okay?
Genevieve: (Chuckles) Just money.
Cane: (Chuckles) It was a little more than "Just money." Thank you.
Genevieve: You're welcome.
Nikki: Don't let him get to you.
Jack: "The Mustache"? Never.
Nikki: Always. You're gonna beat him this time, Jack. I can feel it.
Jack: I already have.
Nikki: You're gonna get Beauty of Nature, too.
Avery: Brief's filed.
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Avery: Victor.
Victor: How long will it take for Jack Abbott to realize that he's not gonna get his hands on Beauty of Nature?
Avery: (Sighs) There are no guarantees this will work.
Victor: I can guarantee you... he ain't gonna beat me. Ain't gonna happen.
Next on "The Young and the Restless”...
Ashley: I'm not comfortable speaking with you about my marriage, Katherine. It's not anybody's business but Tucker's and mine.
Sofia: You can talk to Neil whenever you want, 'cause we're getting a divorce.
Sharon: You told your father, didn't you, about Billy and me sleeping together?
