Genevieve: It was such a nice surprise to receive your call.
Lily: (Laughs) Are you sure about that?
Genevieve: (Laughs) Yes.
Lily: (Laughs)
Genevieve: You know, you've been more kind to me than you have reason to be.
Lily: Well, you are Cane's mom.
Genevieve: Mm. In name only for a very short time, but you encouraged him to reach out to me. (Sighs) I don't think that I would have the same grace if I were in your shoes, but I'm so grateful to you, Lily.
Lily: Well, family's important, don't you think?
Genevieve: Mm. Uh, I thought you said that Ethan was on his way home.
Littleton: What can you tell us about where your mother got the money she used to buy Beauty of Nature?
Cane: I can't really tell you much, since I had nothing to do with my mother's purchase of that company.
Blaine: Right, we realize that, but--
Littleton: You could be instrumental in building our case, just as you worked with the FBI in gathering evidence against your father's illegal activities.
Cane: I don't have any proof that could assist you in your accusations or the S.E.C. against my mother.
Littleton: You might be surprised about what you might know that could help us.
Cane: (Inhales deeply) Well, if you would excuse me, uh, I'd like to go home. Do you have anything else you would like to discuss?
Littleton: You know, that's a good idea.
Cane: Yeah, okay.
Littleton: You should go home, think about it, talk to your wife. Then get back to us.
Nikki: Hi. You look well.
Jack: You look wonderful. Wow. Were you on your--
Nikki: I was on my way--
Jack: Would we be violating the terms of our agreement if you just down for one minute?
Nikki: I don't think so. So... (Exhales slowly) Have you spoken to Kyle?
Jack: I left him a few messages, but, uh, haven't heard anything yet.
Nikki: You do plan to see him?
Jack: Oh, believe me, I'd like to ram this chair through "The Mustache's" door and drag my son out of there.
Nikki: But you won't.
Jack: But I have to respect Kyle's decision and give him the space that he needs.
Nikki: Not an easy balance to strike.
Jack: Look, Nikk, what--
Nikki: Jack, we agreed to slow things down and keep our distance for your son's sake, and that's exactly what we're going to do.
Nick: So Kyle's working at Newman...
Phyllis: Ooh!
Nick: And living with my dad.
Phyllis: Ohh! Wow, he's really twisting the knife hard in Jack's gut, isn't he?
Nick: Well, I get it, you know? Kyle's just a guy trying to find his way, and that's something that we know a little about.
Phyllis: Yeah, we do. Not anymore.
Nick: Right.
Phyllis: (Chuckles)
Nick: We're having a baby, and I honestly-- I want to tell the whole world.
Phyllis: I do, too. We could--it's-- I... (Stammers) It's too early.
Nick: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we're gonna--
Phyllis: Yeah, right?
Nick: Yeah. We should let everyone know that we're engaged first.
Phyllis: Okay. Speaking of which, I called Daniel. Uh, I didn't talk to him. He needs to call me back.
Nick: Okay.
Phyllis: (Chuckles)
Nick: I already spoke to Noah.
Phyllis: You did? Was he happy?
Nick: He, uh, he offered up a congratulations.
Phyllis: Mm. Enthusiastic congratulations?
Nick: He was a little reserved.
Phyllis: Mm. Yeah? Of course he was. That doesn't surprise me.
Nick: Well, between Sharon and me, Noah's life's been a roller coaster of marriages, divorces, and remarriages...
Phyllis: Yeah.
Nick: So I get it.
Phyllis: Yeah. This one is sticking.
Nick: Yes, it is. You know, Faith-- she's very excited.
Phyllis: Of course she... (Laughs) Yeah, right. So that leaves Summer, right?
Nick: Yes.
Phyllis: Mm-hmm.
Nick: And then we can tell the world wide.
Phyllis: But Summer's not gonna be here for a while.
Nick: Oh, really?
Phyllis: Uh-huh. (Giggles)
Kay: Oh, that's sweet.
Murphy: All right, now. Whoa! Boy, who'd send flowers to my girl on our big day?
Kay: Nikki, Nikki, Nikki, Nikki.
Murphy: Huh.
Kay: Wishing us the best. Hmm.
Murphy: Well, it worked. It is the best.
Kay: Ohh.
Jill: (Laughs) Oh, look at you two. Married three years, and you still think you're newlyweds.
Murphy: Yeah, well...
Kay: Thinking and being are two different things.
Jill: I have to hand it to you, Murphy. Katherine's been in a much better mood since you married her.
Murphy: Oh, yeah. (Chuckles)
(Cell phone rings)
Jill: Mm. Ohh. Hello, Phillip. It's been ages. Thanks for calling. How you doin', Darlin'? What's wrong?
Nick: You know what?
Phyllis: Hmm?
Nick: This is really impeding my progress.
Phyllis: Oh. Yeah, it's a ring. I have it on a chain, 'cause I didn't want to wear it on my finger yet, until, you know, we told everyone.
Nick: Yeah. All right, cool.
Phyllis: Yeah.
Nick: We can wait a couple of hours before we put it on your finger permanently. Its different this time, isn't it?
Phyllis: There was a lot of drama last time.
Nick: Now we're just two people in love and we're gonna have a baby who's gonna be very athletic...
Phyllis: (Laughs)
Nick: And we're gonna get married.
Phyllis: (Whispering) It feels good.
Nick: (Whispers) Yeah.
Nikki: Oh, as much as I don't want to, I gotta go.
Jack: I don't want you to go...
Nikki: Mm.
Jack: Despite our agreement, but you know what? I'm actually meeting someone here-- Sarge.
Nikki: You are?
Jack: Well, yeah. I told you I wasn't going through with the surgery.
Nikki: Oh, but I didn't know that you would be ready for physical therapy yet.
Jack: Well, yeah, the sooner, the better. Hopefully, with Sarge, though the way we parted the last time, I...
Nikki: I don't think Sarge could say no to you. I know I wouldn't be able to.
Jack: I don't think Sarge is as fond of me as you are.
Nikki: Mm. I gotta go. (Clicks tongue in cheek) (Inhales sharply) Good luck.
Jack: Thanks.
Jill: Phillip blew his knee out.
Kay: Oh, what--
Murphy: Ohh, how's he managing?
Jill: Oh, painfully. He's having knee replacement surgery next week.
Murphy: And you're thinking of going to Australia?
Jill: Well, yeah, I want to be there for the surgery, and he won't be exactly mobile afterwards.
Kay: Oh, well, you definitely should go.
Jill: I feel a little guilty, with everything going on with Lauren.
Kay: (Scoffs) Oh, stop.
Murphy: No, no, no, no, no, we're here to support Michael and Lauren. Oh, but what about work?
Jill: Oh, see, that's another thing. Ashley's not gonna be thrilled.
Kay: Oh, come on. Jabot has survived worse crises, uh, than your taking time out.
Jill: Well, thank you so much for appreciating my importance to the company.
Murphy: Oh, man.
Kay: I did not mean it like that. I did not mean it like that, I swear.
Jill: I know, I know, I know.
Kay: There's Ashley, there's Cane, and they can cope.
Murphy: Yeah.
Kay: And they can't-- you--you should definitely-- should be with Phillip.
Murphy: Yes, Katherine's right. And we'll handle things here. Just get your--pack your bag, don't give it another thought.
Jill: That's exactly what I'm gonna do, because he actually called me and asked me to come. I mean... (Exhales sharply) I mean, I got a lot of years to make up for, not mothering my boy.
Kay: Just remember, Jill, he is a grown man.
Jill: Yeah, I know that, Katherine, but it's never too late to make up for lost time, is it?
Cane: (Sighs)
Lily: Oh, hi. There you are. I was just about to call you.
Cane: Hey, Baby.
Lily: Hi.
Cane: Mm. Sorry I'm late. You, uh, you been having fun with the kids?
Genevieve: Yes, and--and I'm reminded how exhausting it can be to have twins, but Lily deals with it beautifully. Mm-hmm.
Lily: Well, it's very nice that it appears that way.
Cane: Yeah. Well, uh, I'm glad you're here. I need to talk to you.
Genevieve: Hold that thought. My phone is vibrating. Actually, would you excuse me?
Cane: Sure, sure.
Lily: Okay. So you seem a little bit frazzled. Is it work?
Cane: Yeah. It's, uh, it's not Jabot. It's Beauty of Nature. I got delayed by a couple of S.E.C. agents.
Lily: Why?
Cane: 'Cause they want to know how my mother acquired such a great amount of money to make the purchase.
Lily: Do they think that it was something illegal?
Cane: Yeah. Now her problems are our problems. We know you did it.
Nick: Right now, there's something your mom and I want to talk to you about.
Phyllis: (Roaring) Moving... park. (Laughs) Uh, so... you know that your dad and I have been spending a lot of time together... lately.
Nick: And that time together has reminded us how much we love being together and how much we don't want to be apart anymore.
Phyllis: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Uh, so... we're getting married again. Yay. I expected a different reaction.
Nick: Yeah.
Summer: Does this mean you're really back together, like, forever?
Kay: Uh, since you haven't mentioned anything, I assume that you've made no plans whatsoever for today, so I made some for us.
Murphy: Did you now?
Kay: Uh, Nikki mentioned this new restaurant at Wal-- Walworth Center, and she swears they can, um, they can make turnips taste like cake.
Murphy: But here's the thing-- I, uh, I'd like to check out that restaurant, but not on our anniversary.
Kay: Oh, come on. Do you want to stay in, Murphy?
Murphy: Mm, absolutely, but only after we do the reservation I made.
Kay: Where are we going?
Murphy: You will find out when we get there. (Humming)
Kay: Oh, Murphy. Where are we going?
Sarge: Well... this is curious, not to mention you owe me a meal.
Jack: Well, I was kind of going for a full-circle theme.
Sarge: Really? And how exactly does that work, Jack? I mean, the last time we were here, you fired... I'll be damned.
Jack: I've decided not to have the surgery, and I would like very, very much to work with you again, Sarge.
Sarge: Just like that.
Jack: You already filed my slot.
Sarge: Your slot was filled the second you pulled out.
Jack: Of course. You're the best.
Sarge: Look--
Jack: I know I'm asking a lot.
Sarge: Yeah, you are.
Jack: I also know that the last time we worked together on my rehab, I didn't exactly rank as your favorite client. It will be different this time.
Sarge: It will be tougher.
Jack: I fully expect you to put me through my paces to prove that I'm committed.
Sarge: I'm talking about the time you lost, Jack. With an injury like yours, even missing a day of therapy can set you so far back.
Jack: Look, I have been working on my own, Sarge.
Sarge: Working and not pushing yourself half as much as I would, I bet.
Jack: Yeah, you're right. You're absolutely right. I know that. I'm ready now. I'm ready to take on whatever you give me.
Sarge: Till it's time to quit again.
Jack: Whatever it takes for however long, I will not quit. What do you say?
Lily: It's outrageous. The S.E.C. is trying to force you to sell out your own mother.
Cane: Well, they brought up my dad so they figured I would happily just give evidence against my other parent.
Lily: But it's not the same, and you should make them understand that.
Cane: (Clears throat)
Genevieve: Ooh, sudden silence. I have to presume you're talking about me.
Cane: I got a visit today from an Agent Littleton and an Agent Blaine.
Genevieve: From the S.E.C.?
Cane: Yeah.
Lily: You've spoken to them?
Genevieve: Yes, they have questioned me. I know that they're making the rounds, but I never dreamed that they would come after you. You don't know anything about my business dealings. You shouldn't be dragged into this.
Cane: And yet, I am.
Genevieve: Are you furious with me?
Cane: You know, this is the fallout I expect to get from dealing with my family. It's okay.
Genevieve: How did you handle the agents?
Cane: Are you asking if I told them anything? No, I didn't tell them anything.
Genevieve: Thank you.
Cane: Okay.
Genevieve: There was a time when you wouldn't have cared about protecting me, but I'm very grateful that you've done so now.
Sarge: Thank you. Well, I gotta say, Jack, coming to your senses about this surgery is a smart move.
Jack: Thanks. That mean you'll work with me?
Sarge: Tell me what changed your mind.
Jack: (Sighs) Shortcuts. I have a new baby nephew. We had the baptism the other day. I looked around, and I... I thought of a lot of things-- a good marriage, which my brother has... a strong family, which I definitely have... a child who respects you. Anyway, they're all things you build slowly with work. Every day, work.
Sarge: No shortcuts.
Jack: If I opt for the quick fix of surgery, I risk never walking again, and I can't afford that.
Sarge: Isn't that what I told you?
Jack: Yeah, you and a lot of other people. I just couldn't see it for myself, that it could actually take years for me to get back on my feet again. But I can do it. I will do it with you, no matter how long it takes. You haven't said yes yet.
Sarge: Because you'd be messin’ my schedule again. I have to move around so much stuff again.
Jack: But you will?
Sarge: I will.
Jack: Yes!
Sarge: But you need to know that you are going to work until you are in intense pain.
Jack: (Laughs) Thank you. Thank you -- what is your real name?
Sarge: None of your business.
Jack: I'm putting my future in your hands. You can't give me that much?
Sarge: Augustus... (Sighs) After my father.
Jack: Well, that's a pretty distinguished handle.
Sarge: They called me "Augie" growing up. Do I look like an Augie to you?
Jack: Uh, no.
Sarge: "Sarge," okay?
Jack: I am just so happy to be working with you again, whatever your name is.
Cane: Look, I'm not trying to punish you for our past.
Lily: Cane really wants to move beyond that.
Cane: Yeah.
Genevieve: So I don't have to worry about the S.E.C.? I mean, at least not where you're concerned?
Cane: Um, well...
Genevieve: What?
Cane: They, uh, think I know something that might be useful, and they want to get together for another chat.
Genevieve: They can't force you to talk about me, and you don't have any proof of any wrongdoing.
(Knock on door)
Genevieve: They wouldn't come here, would they?
Jill: Hope you don't mind me dropping by.
Lily: Hi! Of course not.
Cane: Ohh.
Lily: No, come on in.
Cane: Hey, I keep missing you at the office. It's good to see your beautiful face.
Jill: (Chuckles) It's good to see you, too.
Cane: You're sweet.
Jill: (Sighs) Oh, Genevieve. How unexpected.
Genevieve: I'm allowed to visit my son's family, aren't I?
Baby: (Crying)
Lily: Oh, um, I'll go. Excuse me.
Jill: Mm, this is gonna be a fun afternoon.
Murphy: All right, careful now.
Kay: (Stammering) Murphy, I've had this stupid blindfold on ever since you put me in the car. Now this had better be good.
Murphy: It was the only way to keep a surprise a surprise.
Kay: Oh, well, I feel like a fool!
Murphy: Will you stop complaining?
Kay: Oh, shh!
Murphy: We got company.
Kay: What?
Murphy: Voila.
All: Happy anniversary!
Pearl: (Laughs)
Murphy: (Laughs)
Pearl: Happy anniversary!
Kay: Ohh. Oh, this is perfect. This is--I mean, this is--
Murphy: (Laughs)
Kay: This is perfect. This is... this right there, right here is-- is where you proposed to me.
Man: Yeah!
Phyllis: You know, that is a very, very good question, about forever. Y-you want that?
Nick: You're right. Your mom and I have been apart before, but no more. I promise you, this time, it's for real.
Phyllis: Yeah, and you probably are wondering, "How can you make that promise?" Right? Yeah, yeah. Um... you know what? It's about my heart, and when your daddy asked me to marry him, I knew in my heart that it was the right thing, that it's the right thing for all of us. I knew.
Summer: Okay, I'm happy.
Phyllis: Oh, good! Yay!
(Knock on door)
Phyllis: Oh.
Nick: All right.
Phyllis: (Giggles) Yay! (Laughs)
Summer: Yay! (Giggles)
Nikki: Hi.
Nick: Hey, Mom. Come on in.
Nikki: I brought books for the girls.
Nick: Mwah! Okay.
Nikki: Hey, Summer.
Phyllis: Hey.
Nikki: Phyllis. Well, my goodness, it looks like I walked in for a family reunion. What is going on?
Summer: Mom and Dad are getting married again.
Phyllis: Well--oh. Oh.
Nikki: They are? Well, my goodness. What a surprise! (Laughs) Wow! Ohh. Getting married, huh? When did you decide this?
Nick: Uh, just recently. We wanted to tell the kids first.
Nikki: Sure. Yeah, I see. Well, congratulations.
Nick: Thank you.
Phyllis: Thanks. Do you want to see my ring?
Summer: Yeah!
Phyllis: Okay.
Summer: (Squeals)
Phyllis: Maybe I can just wear it the regular way.
Nick: Oh, wait. Let me, uh, let me help you with that.
Phyllis: (Laughs)
Summer: (Giggles)
Nick: Ring, please. All right. Phyllis Newman, would you do me the honor of becoming my bride?
Phyllis: Yes. Uh, now--now what?
Nick: Okay, there's something that's supposed to happen now.
Phyllis: Now what?
Nick: What--what is it?
Phyllis: I think we kiss.
Nick: Yeah, we kiss. Okay.
Phyllis: (Laughs) Hmm.
Nick: Mwah!
Summer: (Laughs)
Phyllis: Okay, and now... we celebrate.
Nick: Yeah, let's do it.
Phyllis: Okay. Do you-- uh, why--why don't we just celebrate with that chocolate lava cake you like so much?
Summer: Yeah!
Phyllis: I'm gonna go get it.
Summer: And we can cut it together, like at a wedding.
Phyllis: Oh, yay!
Summer: Yeah!
Phyllis: (Laughing)
Summer: (Laughing)
Kay: Oh, thank you for coming. Oh, so good to see you again.
Woman: Thank you.
Kay: You take care.
Man: Hi. (Laughs)
Kay: Oh, and you-- oh, so good to see you. You've lost at least, what, 2 1/2 pounds?
All: (Laughing)
Kay: Ohh. Thank you. The, um, Salisbury steak-- divine, as usual.
Joe Jr.: Well, the last time we talked, you said you'd been having a hankering for it. Mm.
Pearl: That was about a week ago and I still had to remind him.
Kay: (Chuckles)
Murphy: (Chuckles) Well, I--just getting together like this is what I've missed.
Pearl: We're so glad you're here.
Joe Jr.: Yeah, but, Murph, you could have sprung for something fancier.
Kay: Oh, come on. I mean, fancy is highly overrated. I mean, sharing an occasion with people you don't see enough of, I mean, that's-- that, to me, is--is fancy.
Murphy: Yeah, it's tough to schedule. You guys are so busy.
Kay: Well, yeah. Well, s-summertime's coming on. Come out and--and use the pool.
Pearl: We'll do that...
Kay: Good.
Pearl: But now, Joe and I will get your dessert.
Joe Jr.: Well, I've been meaning to tell you about this new bowling league. I'm-
Pearl: Joe, I need a hand.
Joe Jr.: With what, Pearl?
Pearl: Finding that special pie that you made.
Joe Jr.: Well, it's in the back, by the oven. So anyways, we got this guy from--
Pearl: Joe.
Joe Jr.: What?
Pearl: Leave the lovebirds alone. It's their anniversary, remember?
Joe Jr.: Oh, right, right. I'll tell you about that league later.
Pearl: Learn to take a hint.
Kay: (Laughs)
Murphy: (Laughing) Some--some things never change.
Kay: Oh, Murph, the present I got you, my God, it... could never top this.
Murphy: Well, seeing you smile like that-- that's present enough for me.
Kay: (Chuckles)
Murphy: You know, my... (Clears throat) My life began all over again right there, when you said you'd marry me, and I... I just feel blessed that... I feel blessed that you came into my life. Every day... every single day.
Kay: Ohh. I don't ever forget, either.
Jill: Isn't it just like Charlie? He always wants to be where the action is.
Lily: Of course.
Genevieve: Ethan was like that. You'd think that it would be his brother who was the restless one, but at this age, it was Ethan who kept me running.
Lily: You must have been walking around and rocking him all the time.
Genevieve: Yeah, and that wore me out, and then I finally realized that if I just sat him beside me and I read the newspaper aloud to him, and he realized that he wasn't missing anything, he would nod away and fall off to sleep, and I could put him back in his bed. (Laughs)
Lily: Ohh. (Laughs) Well, I haven't tried that trick, but I will. You want that one, hmm?
Genevieve: I think I should be going.
Lily: Well, please come over again soon.
Genevieve: Yeah, thank you for inviting me.
Lily: Yeah. Okay. Hey, Cutie. (Makes silly noises)
Genevieve: Thank you for your loyalty.
Cane: Sure.
Genevieve: (Sighs) I'm sure that this will blow over soon, and your life will go back to the way it always has been.
Cane: I hope so.
Cane: (Exhales slowly)
Lily: So big.
Jill: (Chuckles)
Cane: There we go.
Jill: Well... obviously, some things have changed around here. I knew that you'd spoken to Genevieve, but I had no idea you had reconnected this completely.
Cane: Well, we had some honest conversations and, uh, you know, made some progress.
Lily: Yeah, I don't know if it'll last, but I hope so.
Cane: Yeah.
Jill: Why?
Lily: (Laughs) Why? Because he should have a decent relationship with his mother, and the kids should know their grandmother.
Jill: Yeah, I suppose so.
Lily: (Laughs)
Jill: All right, okay, okay. We will never be fond of Genevieve, I do understand your desire to do this.
Cane: Well, I appreciate it, and thank you for popping in. You're always welcome. You know that, right?
Jill: I do know that. It's always nice to hear it, though, especially because I'm leaving town.
Cane: What?
Lily: Why?
Cane: What--where--when are you going? When are you going?
Jill: Phillip blew his knee out. He's having knee surgery, so I'm going to Australia to help him recuperate.
Lily: Well, we're gonna miss you. Well, I-I'm gonna put Charlie back to bed. Do you want to say bye to Matty before you leave?
Jill: Absolutely. I'll be in with hugs and kisses in just a minute.
Lily: Okay, great.
Jill: Okay.
Lily: All right, I'll see you in a sec. Come on, let's go to bed.
Cane: (Sighs)
Jill: I will do so much work from Australia. I promise.
Cane: You don't have to do that. Don't--don't do that. Don't. Just, uh, we--we've got it. I'm glad you get to spend some time with Phillip.
Jill: You take care of yourself while I'm gone, okay? Because I can only worry about one son at a time. Mm?
Nick: (Sighs) Summer literally bounced the whole way down to the stables for her riding lesson.
Nikki: Yeah, she seemed pretty excited about everything.
Nick: Unlike you.
Nikki: So, um, when did this happen?
Nick: You know Phyllis and I have been seeing each other.
Nikki: Yeah, but taking a monumental walk down the aisle again, um, are you really sure about that?
Nick: It feels like everything that has happened lately has been building to this moment.
Jack: Then you'll let me know when we can start?
Sarge: I will call you.
Phyllis: Is that the infamous Sarge?
Jack: Yeah, that is him.
Phyllis: Ohh.
Jack: Here, have a seat, have a seat.
Phyllis: Oh, thank you. (Sighs) Have I told you how happy I am that you're ditching that surgery? Have I told you that?
Jack: Yes, you have told me several times.
Phyllis: Okay, okay, good.
Jack: So what are you doing here? Chasing a hot story, or what?
Phyllis: No, no, I'm getting something to go. Uh, you know... hey, listen, I heard about Kyle. I'm so sorry.
Jack: Uh, yeah, he's acting out for-- (Stammers) Could I see your left hand there? Let me see it. Are you marrying Nick?
Genevieve: Again?
Jill: My thoughts exactly.
Genevieve: I'm surprised you left my son's home so quickly, since it was obvious you were very eager for my departure.
Jill: Actually, I went over there to tell Cane I'm leaving town for a while.
Genevieve: To a land far, far away for a very, very long time?
Jill: (Chuckles) Yeah, actually, it might be for a little while, so I'm glad we got this chance to speak privately.
Genevieve: If you're about to launch into a rant--
Jill: Genevieve, Cane told me that he's trying to build a relationship with you.
Genevieve: And I'm sure that upsets you, to know that you can't replace his real mother.
Jill: Well, it might, but I don't think that you mean him any harm.
Genevieve: How generous, Jill.
Jill: See, the thing is, that--that doesn't mean you won't do him any damage. I mean, the way you live your life, your underhanded business dealings, the way you always put yourself first-- these are all things that will inevitably harm him, because God knows why, but he still cares about you.
Genevieve: Your audacity is astounding to me. Are you actually telling me how to treat my own son?
Jill: What I'm trying to do is to tell you to keep doing what you've been doing.
Genevieve: What I've been doing?
Jill: Yeah, when you went to Cane and Lily's wedding, you didn't make your presence known. That was the right choice. I strongly advise you, if you care at all about Cane, don't get too close to him.
Cane: I need to call this agent, so, um, I might as well just get it done.
Lily: Just stick to what you've already told them. It's the truth.
Cane: Well, the thing is, there's no evidence to, uh, suggest my mother used Colin's dirty money to buy Beauty of Nature, but I know she must have.
Lily: Well, it's not enough to convict someone.
Cane: Yeah, but if you hear your son say, "Hey, my mom's guilty," it goes a long way with a jury, and the S.E.C.'s gonna keep hounding me until they get to hear what they want to hear.
Lily: I know, but if you stand your ground, they'll back off, and if there's a strong enough case to be made against Genevieve, they can get her without any help from you. This is about what you can live with.
Cane: Okay.
(Touch-tones beeping)
Littleton: Thank you. Agent Littleton.
Cane: It's Cane Ashby.
Littleton: It's good you've gotten back in touch so soon. When can we get together?
Cane: I have nothing more I can say to you.
Littleton: That's your decision?
Cane: There's nothing I can offer you. Thank you. (Sighs)
Nikki: Let's say that I believe you and Phyllis can have a long and happy marriage. Why rush into this engagement? I mean, uh, why don't you just wait six months, a year, and see what happens? It's not like Phyllis is pregnant or anything.
Nick: (Sighs)
Nikki: Oh... my... God. Really?
Nick: Um, yes, really, and honestly, Mom, I couldn't be happier.
Phyllis: I just got engaged yesterday. It's the first time I've worn it in public.
Jack: Wow.
Phyllis: Ugh. Ohh, that fish is foul. What--do you smell that? That's horrible.
Jack: Whoa. You're turning green.
Phyllis: No, I'm not.
Jack: Yes, you-- wait, the smell of fish makes you nauseous? Are you pregnant?
Phyllis: Shh. Keep your voice down.
Jack: Just tell me. Are you pregnant?
Phyllis: Shh, keep your-- yes, yes, yes. Can you believe that? We're not telling anybody. Please, please, don't say anything, please. Please.
Jack: No, I won't say a word.
Phyllis: I thought it was a miracle when it happened with Summer, and--and now... it's amazing. I mean, especially after what happened with us, what the doctor told us.
Jack: Good for you. You're long overdue for some good news.
Kay: Oh, come on, you--are you leaving?
Murphy: Well, I rented us some alone time.
Joe Jr.: Yeah, but you gotta be out of here before the dinner rush.
Murphy: We will, I promise.
Pearl: Enjoy. See you later.
Murphy: Thank you.
Joe Jr.: Good to see you.
Kay: Oh, you're a darling. Thank you. Oh, precious lady. I love you so much.
Pearl: Mm! See you later.
Kay: Murphy, I've been to many a fine dining room, but this is... oh, God, this is my very favorite. What are you doing?
Murphy: (Humming) What does it look like I'm doing, Woman? I am proposing... that we dance.
Kay: (Laughs) To this?
Murphy: Mm-hmm.
Kay: Are you up to it?
Murphy: Yeah--am I up to it?
Kay: (Humming)
Murphy: (Humming)
Kay: Oh. (Sighs) Oh, I've adored dancing with you these past three years. I really have.
Murphy: Ohh. And the best is yet to be.
Kay: For many... many years.
Murphy: (Humming)

Chelsea: It's none of your business.
Victor: As of now, it is.
Jack: We can work through this if you'll just give us a chance.
