Episode # 9848 ~ Sharon and Adam Reconnect

Provided By Suzanne
Proofread By Emma

Phyllis: Um, yeah, I'm calling regarding, um, a-a patient. George Summers is his name. Um, I-I'm a relative. I'm--I'm his daughter. M-my name is Avery Bailey Clark. Um, so is there-- oh, he is. Oh, uh, can I just ask? I-I just--I just want to know, um, is his-- can--can his condition worsen? Okay, so-- so how much time do you think...okay. Thank you.

(Door opens)

Daniel: Mom. What's the matter? You okay?

Phyllis: No, I'm fine. Don't--don't worry about me.

Daniel: Does this have something to do with your sister?

Phyllis: Why would you say that?

Daniel: I don't know, because you've been all weird ever since she came to town.

Phyllis: I'm not weird. Watch how you talk to me, please.

Daniel: Okay. So then if it's not Avery, what's the matter?

Avery: We're going before a judge.

Daisy: A new trial?

Avery: A hearing to get your sentence reduced. We don't have a lot of time to prepare.

Daisy: That stupid public defender said 20 years was the best he could do for me, and you're telling me you could get me out of here?

Avery: Well, there are no guarantees.

Daisy: You have done more for me than my other lawyer or Phyllis or anyone ever has. (Laughs) You're the best.

Nick: Thank you.

Lauren: So is Victor working you as hard as he's working Michael? I have barely seen him since Victor's back at Newman.

Nick: Well, between work and Faith, I'm not getting much sleep.

Lauren: Is Faith okay?

Nick: She's just having a tough time adjusting.

Lauren: You mean now that Sharon's back?

Nick: Actually, now that Sharon's gone again.

Lauren: Where did she go?

Nick: She went to Kansas to be with Adam.

Lauren: What?!

Nick: Yeah, she, uh, she wanted to help him.

Lauren: And you're okay with that?

Sharon: It's cold out.

Adam: Is it?

Sharon: Here, you should put your glove on.

Adam: No, I-- I've got it.

Sharon: Why don't you let me help you with the fence?

Adam: If I let you help me, then I'll never learn how to do anything on my own.

Sharon: Okay. I'll just watch, then.

Lauren: I can't believe you're so calm about this.

Nick: Lauren, I have spent so much time and energy trying to make Adam pay for what he's done.

Lauren: Yeah, well, you were justified.

Nick: Well, I guess it's more important to me that I am happy than making sure Adam suffers.

Lauren: (Sighs) you are so much more forgiving than I could ever be. If someone hurts me, I want to hurt them back.

Michael: May I have a word with you... privately?

Avery: I'll be right back. (Sighs)

Michael: How did you manage to get Daisy a hearing before a judge?

Avery: I'm very good at my job.

Michael: Are you trying to reopen this case?

Avery: I'm trying to get justice for my client.

Michael: Who agreed to hear your arguments? I mean, when do you think this farce is gonna take place?

Avery: You know what? I'm under no obligation to answer any of your questions.

Michael: That woman kidnapped and tortured my wife, and if you think I'm gonna stand by while you free her, you are as crazy as she is.

Daisy: He's gonna try to stop the hearing, isn't he?

Avery: It doesn't matter. He can't.

Daisy: Everyone in this town hates me, but you're standing up for me.

Avery: You were a victim as much as Lauren. You shouldn't be punished for that.

Daisy: (Laughs) Are you gonna make the judge see that?

Avery: The judge... and everyone else.

Phyllis: Did you have a good nap? Oh, my goodness, that was a long nap, you pretty thing. Ohh.

Daniel: Are you really just gonna ignore my question?

Phyllis: What? A-Avery and I had a disagreement. It's not a big deal.

Daniel: That's it? That's all you're gonna say?

Phyllis: Yeah, that's all I'm gonna say.

Daniel: That's fantastic. Shut me out of my own family. I don't care.

Phyllis: Oh, I'm not doing that. I'm not doing that. Avery is my past. That's--you know what? Look at this adorable girl. Look how cute she is.

Daniel: Yeah.

Phyllis: You know what? Uh, remember the song you used to sing with Summer? Maybe--maybe Lucy would like it. Maybe you could start singing it with Lucy.

Daniel: No.

Phyllis: Okay. (Chuckles) Daniel, you know, she's innocent in all of this, completely innocent. She deserves to know her father.

Daniel: That's not gonna happen.

Phyllis: Daniel, my poor-- what--what do--

Chloe: Hi. Sorry I'm late.

Daniel: That's all right. (Clears throat) Mom was just leaving.

Chloe: Hey, Phyllis.

Phyllis: Hey, Chloe. Um, let's continue this conversation.

Daniel: No, let's not.

Phyllis: Oh, let's. In fact, we will. See you later.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Bye-bye.

Chloe: Bye.

Phyllis: Bye.

Daniel: What?

Chloe: She is your daughter.

Daniel: (Sighs, laughs)

Chloe: I know the whole story, how you didn't want to be a dad. It's why you broke up with Amber. I get it.

Daniel: Yeah, good, great.

Chloe: But Lucy's here. You can't ignore that.

Daniel: Yes, I can.

Chloe: Okay, let me rephrase. How can you ignore that? I mean, I can't imagine knowing that Delia existed and wanting to have nothing to do with her.

Daniel: I'm not you.

Chloe: You love Delia.

Daniel: Yeah, I love Delia. Look, I love kids. I just--I don't want one of my own-- not right now, anyway. Pretending that I wanted to be Lucy's father isn't gonna do her any good. You know, it'd probably just mess her up even more.

Chloe: Well, at least she has Phyllis.

Daniel: (Laughs) Yeah, well, things could be worse, right? Wait a minute. Aren't you supposed to be at work or something?

Chloe: Um, yeah, I'm glad that your mom didn't ask about that, because I skipped out early.

Daniel: Oh. Kevin messing with your creativity again?

Chloe: Hmm... I just can't really figure out if I want to punch the singing mafia princess and leave with him, or punch my ex.

Daniel: Well, there is a third option. (Clears throat) Since this coffee is terrible, you could come with me over to Jimmy's, and we could drown our sorrows in booze.

Chloe: (Laughs) I think it's a little early for that.

Daniel: Yeah, well, you know, by the time we get there, it'll probably be happy hour, and I'm pretty sure that is the universal green light for drinking. If you don't believe me, you can ask Eden.

Chloe: Eden?

Daniel: Yeah, she's gonna be there. I'm meeting her.

Chloe: Oh, I didn't know that you guys were still--

Daniel: We're not. Come on, let's go. Let's go have some fun.

Eden: Daniel, hey, it's me. Um, I got to Jimmy's a little early. Just wanted to let you know I'm looking forward to having a few beers and, of course, kicking your butt in some shuffleboard bowling, so, uh, yep, I'll see you whenever.

Ricky: You're still hung up on that guy?

Nick: Hey!

Phyllis: Hey.

Nick: Summer ready for our date?

Phyllis: Um, of course not.

Nick: Let me guess-- still deciding what she's gonna wear.

Phyllis: Um, well, you know, looking good takes time.

Nick: Oh, I know. (Sighs) What about you, little one?

Phyllis: (Giggles)

Nick: Did you put that whole outfit together?

Phyllis: Oh, well, Mommy-- uh, I did.

Nick: Oh, okay.

Phyllis: (Laughs)

Nick: Well, it's very chic.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm. Nothing but the best for Lucy, right, Lucy? Right?

Nick: You're really diggin' this, aren't you? Having a baby again?

Phyllis: (Sighs) Yeah, I like it.

Nick: Well, Lucy's very lucky to have you. So is Summer.

Phyllis: Thanks. They're lucky to have each other, you know, as sisters.

Nick: Yeah, tell me about it. Growing up, Vick and I were always so close. She bailed me out so many times. (Laughs)

Phyllis: Yeah.

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Well, maybe they'll be closer than, you know--

Nick: Oh, you and Avery.

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah. Um... uh, I called, uh, the hospice today.

Nick: Hmm. How's your dad doing?

Phyllis: He's dying, just like Avery said.

Nick: Are you still against going to see him?

Phyllis: I go back and forth.

Nick: Phyllis.

Phyllis: Um... I know what you're gonna say. See, that's the thing-- I just--I know you so well...

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: There are just things about me that you don't know at all.

Nick: About you and your dad?

Lucy: (Cries)

Michael: I'm glad you could meet with me.

Lauren: Yeah, I was kind of surprised by your call.

Michael: Yeah, well...

Lauren: Yeah?

Michael: I didn't want to talk to you about this in front of Fenmore.

Lauren: What is it?

Michael: It's about Daisy Carter.

Avery: I'm gonna try and persuade the judge the sentence you were given was too harsh and should be reduced.

Daisy: My public defender told me that I was lucky to get 20 years.

Avery: Yeah, well, he doesn't know anything. I'm gonna start with this-- the psych evaluation I had done on you. It shows that you were psychologically and emotionally abused from a very young age.

Daisy: Which is why I did all that stuff to Lauren and Jana.

Avery: Look, in prison, away from Sarah Smythe, you've been a model citizen. You followed the rules. You haven't been in any trouble. You even helped Sharon from being attacked by another inmate.

Daisy: I didn't testify at my trial. Will I be able to talk at this one?

Avery: Well, you're gonna have to convince the judge you're very sorry for what you've done.

Daisy: I can do that.

Avery: (Sighs) It still might not be enough. If we had some kind of proof that you were forced to hold Lauren and Jana against their will, this would be a slam dunk.

Daisy: I think I know someone wh-who could help us.

Avery: Who?

Daisy: My brother Ryder.

Adam: How's it look?

Sharon: Perfect.

Adam: Well, I'll have to take your word for it.

Sharon: You did an amazing job, and without any help from me.

Adam: Not entirely true.

Sharon: (Chuckles) Why? What did I do?

Adam: You let me do it on my own. You believed in me.

Sharon: You know, the world is so much smaller, simpler, when we're alone like this.

Adam: Like when we were in New Orleans? As if we're the only two people in the world. Just... we're better together.

Avery: Tell Judge Hoguet we'll be there. Hearing is set for the end of the week.

Daisy: That soon?

Avery: You mentioned that your brother might have some information. Have you been in touch with him?

Daisy: No.

Avery: All right, well, how can he help?

Daisy: Uh, well, when things started getting really crazy with Aunt Sarah, Ryder started secretly videoing her threatening us.

Avery: Wait, are you saying that there's video showing that she forced you to hold Lauren and Jana hostage?

Daisy: I only found it a couple days ago. I knew that Ryder put the footage online somewhere, and I started searching all the online storage sites, and it finally paid off.

Avery: Why didn't you tell me about this?

Daisy: My other lawyer said it was a waste of time.

Avery: Okay, I need to see this right now.

Daisy: Okay, well, we can pull it up on your computer.

Avery: Okay, let's go.

(Computer keys clicking)

Phyllis: Summer's almost ready.

Nick: Is Lucy asleep?

Phyllis: Yeah. Just you and me. Hmm.

Nick: (Sighs) You know, um... when my dad was sick with heart failure and we weren't sure if he was gonna make it or not... it was the hardest thing in the world to, uh, try and figure out how to say good-bye.

Phyllis: Yeah. That's not the hard part for me. I'm not, uh, upset about him dying. It's about... the way he lived his life.

Nick: Because he went to prison?

Phyllis: Why he went to prison.

Nick: What did he do?

Phyllis: Um... he was a financial advisor. He invested people's money. They would give him all their money, and he would invest it. (Clears throat) So people, uh, you know, could live comfortably later on, and, um, of course, you know where this is going. He stole from them. And so, you know, he bought cars and houses and nice vacations for us. We thought-- we--we thought we had a lot of money, but it was really-- it wasn't ours. And... the truth came out, and everything crashed down around us.

Nick: And you can't forgive him for that.

Phyllis: I could forgive him for that. It's, uh, what happened after that that I can't forgive him.

Nick: What happened?

Phyllis: I turned him in.

Nick: (Sighs)

Phyllis: I turned my dad in. I found out, um, what he was doing, and, uh, I turned him in. I testified against him. (Clears throat) Uh, some of those people were sick, and they were in long-term care, and they were tossed out of their facility because they didn't have any money. I felt that was wrong...

Phyllis: And then he turned, um, my family against me. Uh, he never admitted what he did, and he just told them that I was crazy and I made up the story, and, um... I had to leave. And now he's dying.

Nick: And in spite of everything... you want to see him.

Phyllis: No, I don't. I don't want to see him...but I guess I should.

Eden: Thank you. (Clears throat) Out with all your friends, I see.

Ricky: (Laughs) Well, it beats trying to hook up with someone that's not interested. Oh, and there he is now, the objection of your obsession-- I mean, affection.

Eden: Uh, try neither.

Daniel: Ohh.

Eden: Hey.

Daniel: Hey, I'm sorry I'm late.

Eden: Oh, no worries. It's not like there's a line of people waiting to play shuffleboard bowling.

Daniel: Is--is--is that what we're doing?

Eden: Uh, I'm up for anything.

Daniel: Cool. Is that Ricky?

Eden: Uh, yeah.

Daniel: All right. Well, we could play teams, guys versus girls. (Clicks tongue)

Eden: Girls?

Daniel: Yeah.

Chloe: Yeah, Mom, no, thank you, thank you. Well, you have a great time with Delia, and hey, lay off the cotton candy, okay? (Laughs) All right. Thanks. Love you, bye. (Sighs) Free for the night.

Daniel: Let's get this party started, then. All right.

Eden: (Scoffs)

Daniel: Started.

Ricky: Hey, what's going on?

Daniel: How you doing? Sweet.

Daisy: Here you go.

(Computer keys clicking)

Daisy: Why can't we just let them go, Aunt Sarah?

Sarah: Because I said so.

Daisy: There are people looking for them.

Sarah: Well, they're not gonna find them.

Daisy: We can't leave them in that old zoo. It's dirty and gross. They haven't even eaten anything.

Sarah: And what the hell do you care?

Daisy: (Sniffles) Jana's sick, you know? Her headaches are getting worse.

Sarah: Well, maybe she'll die, and then we won't have the trouble of getting rid of her.

Daisy: You never said anything about killing anyone.

Sarah: That bitch Lauren-- she killed your mother, my sister.

Daisy: No, Ryder and I aren't gonna do that--

Sarah: Oh, you and your brother are gonna do exactly what I say. Do you understand?

Daisy: (Sniffles)

Sarah: Do you?

Daisy: (Voice breaks) Yes.

Sarah: Okay, then you go back there and you keep treating Lauren and her sick little friend exactly the way you have been.

Daisy: (Sighs shakily) Okay. (Normal voice) I'll tell Ryder. We'll do everything you ask, Aunt Sarah.

Sarah: You do that... or you'll be sorry.

Daisy: What do you think? Will this help my case?

Michael: Thank you, Chantal. All right, I've got a meeting with the judge.

Lauren: How--how is this even possible?

Michael: Two words-- Avery Clark.

Lauren: Doesn't she realize how dangerous Daisy is?

Michael: I know.

Lauren: The woman tried to kill me.

Michael: All right, listen to me. Listen to me. Nothing has changed. Daisy is still in prison. I've got a meeting with the judge. I'm gonna find out what's going on.

Lauren: (Sighs)

Michael: I am not gonna let Daisy Carter hurt you, all right? I'll be in touch.

Lauren: And neither will I.

Eden: Okay, this round's on me.

Daniel: Ooh, thank you.

Ricky: Thanks.

Chloe: Great, yeah.

Daniel: Hey, so you know what's coming up, right?

Chloe: Uh, well, Valentine’s Day just passed, and, um, St. Patrick's Day is in a few weeks,

Eden: (Clears throat)

Chloe: So, no, I don't know. What?

Daniel: Really? March madness? Like, an entire month of all college ba--it doesn't get any better than this. College basketball. Come on!

Chloe: Oh, you're such a romantic.

Daniel: Mm. That's what halftime's for. (Laughs)

Chloe: (Laughs) Mm-hmm.

Ricky: (Laughs)

Eden: You know, maybe we could catch a few games together.

Ricky: Yeah? I mean, I like to score just as much as the next guy.

Eden: Knock it off! Did you just see that?

Daniel: Hmm? No, what happened?

Eden: Nothing.

Daniel: Okay. (Laughs) Well, okay, look, the first thing that we're gonna have to do is we're gonna have to figure out the brackets.

Chloe: Brackets?

Daniel: Mm-hmm. Mm, don't worry about it. I'm gonna help you with this, okay?

Chloe: Okay.

Daniel: Okay.

Chloe: I need a lot of help. (Laughs)

Eden: Excuse me.

Chloe: Cheers.

Daniel: Mm.

(Bottles clinking)

Ricky: Cheers.

Daniel: Cheers.

Daisy: Well, that's the last one. I had no idea Ryder saved so many videos.

Avery: Well, it's a good thing he did. It proves you and your brother were systematically terrorized over a period of time.

Daisy: After my mom died, Aunt Sarah was the only family that I had left. I thought she would have taken care of Ryder and me.

Avery: You should be able to count on your family.

Daisy: (Laughs) That's a joke. Even Ryder left me in the end. That hurt the most. We were real close.

Avery: Well, there's a bond between siblings, and when it's broken, you lose something, almost a part of yourself. I have a lot of work to do. I'll be in touch. (Sniffles)

Daisy: Avery-- getting Lucy back would be like getting back that piece of myself.

Avery: I'll do everything I can to make that happen.

Phyllis: Well, I'm gonna go check on Summer. She--

Nick: You know, I really, really think you should go see your dad...

Phyllis: No, I--

Nick: Before it's too late.

Phyllis: No. Why? What, is he suddenly gonna admit that he was wrong and he was sorry, and... I was right? (Sighs) No. That he turned my family against me? Forget it.

Nick: Look, it'll give you a chance to tell him how you feel, to show him that he hurt you.

Phyllis: I--well, I'm--I'm fine. I'm over it. I mean, it's been years.

Nick: Well, then, why is it bothering you so much right now?

Phyllis: It doesn't bother me. I'm okay.

Nick: (Sighs) You know what? You... you were right when you said earlier that I didn't know you very well...

Phyllis: (Sighs)

Nick: 'Cause I was always curious why you were so... fiercely protective about family, and you fought so hard to keep it together. I just thought it was 'cause you were paranoid about Sharon, but it doesn't really have anything to do with that. You're trying to give Lucy and Summer what was taken from you, because you figure, if you can do that, you'll prove that it wasn't you who destroyed your other family.

Phyllis: It wasn't me. It was him.

Nick: That's right, Phyllis, it was him. He did that, whether he accepts responsibility for it or not.

Phyllis: You know, he turned everybody against me. He did that. He did that. He ruined my life. I just--I don't--I don't really want to talk about this anymore. He--that-- he can just go to hell.

Nick: You don't mean that.

Phyllis: I do mean this. (Voice cracks) Oh, I do mean that. (Normal voice) I just want it to be over. I-I don't want to talk about this anymore. I just--I want it to be over.

Nick: Well, you know, Phyllis, it's gonna be over, real soon. But I'm telling you, if you don't go see your dad, this is never gonna be finished for you.

Sharon: Mm.

Adam: Is everything okay?

Sharon: Mm-hmm. Everything's great. I was just... wondering, you know... where do things go from here?

Adam: It's kind of hard to imagine where we'd go from here. Where do you want to go?

Sharon: (Sighs) Anyplace where we can hold on to this feeling.

Adam: We're gonna have to take on anybody who opposes us. That pretty much means the whole world.

Sharon: Bring it on.

Eden: Thank you. (Clears throat)

Ricky: Well, that was an epic fail.

Eden: Uh, I don't know what you're talking about.

Ricky: (Chuckles) Right, because you weren't flirting with me to make Daniel jealous. No, that--that never happened.

Chloe: So... you and Eden are just friends, right?

Daniel: Yeah, why?

Chloe: Oh, my God. You have been out of the dating pool way too long. That girl has the hots for you.

Daniel: Come on. (Scoffs)

Avery: Thank you.

Woman: Yep.

Avery: (Sighs) Excuse me.

Michael: Of course. You must have a lot to do, what with that hearing being scheduled for the end of the week.

Avery: I have everything under control. Excuse me.

Michael: Judge Hoguet is tough.

Avery: So am I.

Michael: (Slaps countertop) You don't have an ounce of regret for what you're about to do, do you? You're allowing your bitterness and anger at your sister to blind you to the point of being almost completely irrational. Daisy Carter is a soulless, coldhearted animal. As if what she did to my wife weren't enough, she-- she abandoned her newborn baby when she was just a few days old. She left your nephew on the side of the road for dead.

Avery: She has paid for these crimes.

Michael: Not enough!

Avery: Well, Michael, that's up to a judge to decide.

Michael: All right, listen to me. If Daisy is freed, you have succeeded in releasing a monster. Now are you prepared to live with the consequences? Huh.

Daisy: Did you forget some-- Lauren. I'm so glad you came. I've been wanting to see you, tell you how sorry I am.

Lauren: Shut up. You may have been able to fool your lawyer, but you will never fool me.

Daisy: Avery understands why I did all those horrible things. That's why she's helping me.

Lauren: You're never gonna get away with this. I promise you, one way or another, you're gonna pay for what you did.

Daisy: (Whispering) We'll see about that.

Phyllis: Uh, yes, can I have the room of George Summers?

Woman: Mr. Summers' room.

Phyllis: (Clears throat) This is Phyllis Summers. Um, I was wondering if it was too late to see my dad.

Woman: No, it's not too late.

Phyllis: I'll be there as soon as I can.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Jill: We have another wedding gift for you, Cane, if you want it.

Jeff: I, uh, came about the ad-- help wanted.

Angelina: Have you ever had feelings for me, even a little?
