Episode # 9801 ~ Phyllis and Ronan Receive a Disturbing Video

(Knock on door)

Ronan: (Sighs)

Ronan: I'm coming. I'm coming! (Grunts) (Scoffs)

Ronan: (Chuckles)

Phyllis: Hey.

Ronan: Hey.

Phyllis: Am I too early?

Ronan: Not for you, no.

Phyllis: (Chuckles) Well, after I got the kids squared away, um, I had to come over. (Laughs) You know, I couldn't stop thinking about last night.

Ronan: I know exactly what you mean.

Phyllis: Yeah. Um, so I brought you coffee. I need you wide-awake.

Nick: Mom was falling-down drunk.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Nick: She refused to let me or Katherine help her.

Victoria: She won't even consider going back into rehab, huh?

Nick: If you would have seen Mom lying on the Athletic Club floor drunk and passed out...

Victoria: (Sighs)

Nick: You wouldn't be asking me that question.

Victoria: (Sniffles) Well, I guess that explains how Deacon was able to drag her off to elope with him.

Nick: Yeah. I tried beating some answers out of him, too, but... it didn't really work. All Mom did was defend the creep.

Victoria: I honestly don't understand any of this, Nick. I mean, why is she self-destructing like this? Unless, I...

Nick: Go ahead and say it, 'cause I've been thinking the same thing.

Victoria: What if Mom killed Diane, and Dad is trying to get convicted to protect her?

Sharon: Before I go in to see Victor, have you found anything to prove he didn't kill Diane?

Avery: Uh, nothing conclusive. Unfortunately, there's physical evidence that puts him at the scene of the crime, and I just learned... (Sighs) He left fingerprints on the case and syringe they found.

Sharon: What? That can't be. Why is this just coming out just now?

Avery: Lab ran tests a second time, and suddenly, there it was, plain as day.

Sharon: This is very weird. Okay, something else has to be going on. Um... um, I know in my heart he did not do this.

Avery: I'm sorry I don't have better news for you. I'll keep digging.

Sharon: Okay, well, I'll-- I'll see you after I'm done here.

Victor: How soon before we can go back to the judge, now that she has further evidence?

(Door opens)

Michael: Convenient evidence. (Muttering indistinctly)

Victor: You've got to stop coming here. You have spent enough time in jails and police stations. Please pay some attention to yourself and to your children, okay?

Sharon: Victor, listen to me.

Victor: No, you listen to me. Both of you listen to me. I appreciate your friendship, I appreciate your concern, but this is what it has to be. If you want to help me, you accept what's happening and get on with your lives.

Sharon: While you go to prison? I don't think so.

Victor: I can handle it. Don't you worry about me.

Nikki: (Clears throat) (Sighs) Mm. (Sighs)

Deacon: (Sighs)

Nikki: What--

Deacon: (Grunts)

Nikki: What the hell are you doing in bed with me?

Deacon: (Sighs)

Genevieve: This is the nicest Christmas I've had in a long, long time-- decorating the Christmas tree with my grandchildren and Ethan and Lily. (Laughs) It--it's just so nice, isn't it?

Myrna: Yeah.

Genevieve: Of course, everything's nicer when you're in love. Oh, that reminds me, I've got to find the perfect gift for Jack.

Myrna: (Exhales slowly)

Genevieve: Oh, Dear, and it can't be clothes, because he's already a very elegant dresser, and he's got a gorgeous home. You know, you've heard of a guy who has absolutely everything? Here, just put it right down there. That's my Jack. (Laughs)

Myrna: Well, he's one lucky man.

Genevieve: Oh, no... (Chuckles) I am the lucky one. I realize you don't know him very well yet, but you've got such great insight. Maybe you could help me come up with a gift that would really wow him.

Myrna: Oh, I-- I'm sure I could.

Jack: Well, I'm disappointed you won't be joining us at Jabot, but I am happy you got the magazine back, if that's where your heart is.

Billy: Yeah, just like yours is in the family business.

Jack: Hmm. I'm also happy to hear that your life has taken shape again-- Delia's recovering, you and Vicki are back together.

Billy: It's all I ever wanted.

Jack: You were away a long time-- no phone calls, you didn't write. Why?

Billy: "Circumstances beyond my control" pretty much covers it, Jack.

Jack: What circumstances would keep you away from the people you love?

Billy: Jack, I wanted to come home. I really wanted to come home. It's the truth.

Jack: And what part of the truth are you leaving out?

Billy: Victor. He wanted me gone for good, and he almost made it happen.

Deacon: (Grunts)

Nikki: Hello. I asked you a question. What are you doing?

Deacon: I was trying to sleep. You know, you do look fantastic in the morning.

Nikki: I told you, you and I will not be sharing a bed ever again.

Deacon: I know, I know. Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah. Look, I'm done sleeping on the floor. That's over. My back is killing me, although that's partly due to your idiot son.

Nikki: I gave you credit cards. I gave you access to a bank account. Get your own damn suite.

Deacon: Darling, how is it gonna look? We're newlyweds. Come on, you know how important it is that we keep up appearances. We don't want anyone asking any awkward questions now, do we? So I will be sleeping in the bed, and you will be dealing with it.

Jack: So Victor managed to mess things up for you, for Delia, for Victoria, for your entire family in one fell swoop.

Billy: The man is nothing if not efficient. But, you know, something good did come out of all this. He was able to find me when no one else could. He brought me back so I could save Delia. And then he turned into regular old Victor the control freak. I mean, you know that there's nobody else in the world that can tell Victoria what she can and can't do besides him. I mean, that's his job. (Clears throat)

Jack: Why didn't you tell me about this? I could have straightened this out in minutes.

Billy: Jack, I know. I-- you had a lot going on, and Kyle really needed you, much more so than I did, and I'm a grown man, Man. I could fight my own fights. And as much as I would like to blame it all on Victor, I... (Clears throat) Screwed up very badly, and, uh... well... (Sighs) I gave him the opportunity to take advantage.

Jack: But everything's okay now?

Billy: Yeah, I sure hope so.

Jack: Well, I'd like that answer to be a little more reassuring.

Billy: Look, I'm just happy that Victor was wrong and my wife forgave me, and right now, I just want to put all of this behind me.

Jack: I hope they lock that bastard away until it's time to bring him home in a box.

Billy: Yeah, well... (Laughs) Do you think he killed Diane?

Jack: I don't know. Do I think he's capable of killing Diane? Absolutely, but I was stunned that he actually confessed. But you know what? Whether he did it or not doesn't matter. After all the things that bastard has done in his lifetime, he deserves exactly what he gets, and then some.

Sharon: Thank God the judge threw out your guilty plea. There's still time to turn this around.

Victor: That's not gonna happen.

Sharon: Victor, I just faced down a huge lie, and in the end, the truth came out. It always does.

Victor: I killed Diane Jenkins, and I'm accepting responsibility for it.

Sharon: If you think you're protecting anyone by doing this, you are wrong. Look at Nikki. She's falling apart. Getting drunk in public, making scenes-- she's married a lowlife like Deacon Sharpe. If you really want to help her, you need to get out of here and support her. That's what Nikki needs, not you rotting away in a prison for no good reason.

Victor: (Sighs)

Spencer: Counselor. Just the man I was looking for.

Michael: Why? What's up?

Spencer: Given the new evidence that's surfaced, judge click has agreed to rehear your client's plea.

Michael: When?

Spencer: Today. Check with her clerk about the time.

Victor: In time, everyone will come to terms with this and move on, all right?

Sharon: I don't know how you can say that, Victor. I... (Sighs) Don't you have any idea how many people count on you? I know that you think that this is an act of love, but it's actually quite the opposite, especially for Nikki.

Victor: (Exhales slowly) It's almost Christmas. You have a lot to do. I know you want to do something special for Faith.

Sharon: (Sighs)

Victor: So would you do me a favor and buy something from me for both her and for Noah? Will you do that?

Sharon: (Sighs) I know they'd rather have their grandfather home with them.

Victor: That cannot be.

Michael: All right, thanks for the information. (Sighs)

Sharon: (Sighs) He is so infuriating.

Michael: He's-- has Avery come up with anything?

Sharon: Nothing concrete, but she's still working on it. I'm on my way to see her now.

Michael: Well, tell her to hurry. Because of the new fingerprint evidence, they've scheduled a second arraignment in a couple of hours. I doubt judge click would be willing to rehear Victor's guilty plea if she weren't ready to accept it.

Sharon: Michael, no! We need more time.

Michael: The best I can do is ask for a postponement.

Ronan: This isn't the visit I thought it was gonna be...

Phyllis: It's not?

Ronan: But I like it.

Phyllis: Well, there's a time and a place for everything, Ronan. I think that if we figure out why Victor is lying about killing Diane, there's something in it for both of us.

Ronan: So I've been working on this timeline from the night of the murder. So there's a bunch of people in the park, all looking to confront Diane...

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Ronan: Including you.

Phyllis: I only saw Diane. I never saw anyone else. You got that?

Ronan: Tell me about that film again.

Phyllis: Okay, well, it was spliced together, so there's no chronological order, but the person who took it had to have been there all night.

Ronan: There was no footage of Nikki on it anywhere?

Phyllis: No, and there was no footage of Adam, which made us believe that Adam was the one who took it.

Ronan: Yeah, no. Someone wanted you to think that. If I just knew who left the scene last, that would put so much into place.

(Computer alert chimes)

Ronan: Whoa. Come here.

Phyllis: Oh, my God. Diane Jenkins.

Ronan: "A message from beyond the grave."

Phyllis: That's crazy. What, is there a microphone in here? Talk about timing.

Ronan: (Gasps)

Ronan: Okay. Okay, so this confirms Nikki's story that she did pass out that night, but the question is, what was she doing before she passed out?

Phyllis: And who shot the film?

Deacon: (Exhales slowly) This is everything I owe you, interest included. Are we square?

Angelo: We're square.

Deacon: Good.

Angelo: Now congratulations, by the way.

Deacon: Oh. (Laughs)

Angelo: You--you got a fine catch there.

Deacon: Yeah. Yeah, I couldn't be happier.

Angelo: (Chuckles)

Deacon: Ow.

Nikki: One bloody Mary, hold the celery, comin' up.

Nikki: (Exhales quickly) (Sighs)

Victoria: If Mom is the one that killed Diane...

Nick: It suddenly makes sense-- Dad confessing, Mom going off the deep end like that.

Victoria: I don't want to believe any of this, Nick.

Nick: What if it's true? I mean, Vick, what do we do?

Victoria: What can we do? I mean, what can we do? Can we call the police and trade Dad behind bars for Mom?

Billy: Ooh. Well, they were all out of poppy seed, but I got these and-- what's wrong?

Victoria: We're kind of starting to think that it might be a possibility...

Nick: The story about Mom coming home from rehab the night Diane died-- explains a lot.

Billy: You mean about your father covering, taking the blame?

Nick: And Mom falling apart the way she has.

Billy: Is there anything I can do?

Victoria: I just want to go and talk to Mom. Will you come with me, please?

Nick: No. She's not gonna want to have anything to do with me, so you go. I'll go check and see what's up with Dad's situation.

Man: You have another visitor.

Jack: You're a real son of a bitch, you know that? You deserve to grow old here, after what you did to Kyle and Billy.

Victor: I never meant to hurt that boy Kyle. If you believe nothing else about me, believe that.

Jack: Save your regrets for the sentencing hearing. You'll get no absolution from me.

Victor: Nor would I expect any.

Jack: Do you have any idea how much my son is hurting because of you? He looked up to you. Why, I don't know.

Victor: Believe it or not, but that touches me deeply that he is hurt.

Jack: Yeah, deeply enough that you killed his mother. Diane had her faults. She was a first-rate mother and she and Kyle were very close, and now he's looking at his first Christmas without her. You did that. All of that is thanks to you.

Victor: One day, I'll explain things to him.

Jack: The hell you will. I'm in the process of nullifying the custody agreement that Diane supposedly gave you. In fact, I'm making it my life's mission to make sure Kyle never has to see you again. I guess none of this should surprise any of us, given what you're capable of doing to your daughter. That sure worked out for you, didn't it? Billy's home. Victoria's forgiven him. They're stronger than ever now, thanks to you.

Victor: Guard! Take this gentleman out, please.

Jack: I hope you'll think about what I just said. In fact, I hope you choke on it.

Victor: I have a very clear conscience, all right? That's all I have to say to you. Now get out.

Victoria: After all these years and everything that they've been through... oh, my dad must love my mom so much to do this for her.

Billy: I understand. I would take the fall for you and not even think twice about it.

Victoria: I need to find my mom and I need to get her to talk to me about this.

Billy: You want me to go with you?

Victoria: No, thanks. Um... I think the only way that I'm gonna get through this is knowing that you're at home, waiting for me. Things were just, you know, so dark while you were gone. They were terrible, and now this.

Billy: Oh, it's-- it's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay.

Ronan: Any luck?

Phyllis: No. That e-mail was sent through several different servers all over the world. There is no way to trace that. (Sighs) What's next?

Ronan: I don't know. I-I mean, I do know. I just can't think of a good answer to that question with you laying in my bed like that, looking so damn sexy.

Sharon: So when is this person supposed to get back to you with the research?

Avery: Soon.

Sharon: What if "Soon" isn't fast enough? What if Michael can't get the postponement?

Avery: Look, from what I can tell, Michael has a lot of connections. He's not asking for the moon. He's just asking for a little bit of time.

(Knock on door)

Avery: Hold on, hold on. (Sighs) Hi.

Nick: Hi.

Avery: Um, this is not a good time.

Genevieve: What a nice surprise.

Jack: Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't call first.

Genevieve: Oh, please, you don't need to call. You have an open invitation to come by anytime.

Jack: Yeah? Day or night?

Genevieve: Yeah.

Jack: (Sighs) Mm.

Genevieve: Mm.

Jack: Oh, I needed that.

Genevieve: Problems?

Jack: Oh, it's been quite a day.

Genevieve: I sent Myrna out Christmas shopping.

Jack: That mean we have the place to ourselves?

Genevieve: Mm-hmm. I think I have an idea that will help you to forget all your problems.

Jack: Yeah?

Genevieve: Yeah.

Michael: Yes. Okay, well, thanks for the information. Mm-hmm. Thanks. Well, that was bad news. The judge refused a postponement.

Victor: That's good news.

Michael: All right, Victor, this is your friend talking.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Michael: I beg you, don't do this. Ronan saved you the first time. This is your second appearance before the judge. This is it. There won't be a third chance.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Michael: If the judge accepts your guilty plea, you'll be sentenced immediately and you will possibly go to prison for the rest of your life. Are you listening to me?

Victor: I've heard every word.

Sharon: I was talking to Avery about Victor, but I'll go.

Nick: All right, you don't have to go, Sharon. That's why I'm here, too.

Sharon: Oh?

Nick: I know how determined you are to get my dad out of this. I want you to know I really appreciate it.

Sharon: He was my greatest source of support during my ordeal.

Nick: Where do we stand, Avery?

Avery: Well, so far, I haven't been able to find anything to exonerate your dad, but I'll keep looking. I know how worried you are.

Nick: Well, right now, I'm worried about both of my parents.

Sharon: Especially now that we know Nikki's drinking again.

(Knock on door)

Nikki: Ahh. Hold on.

(Knock on door)

Nikki: I'm coming, coming, coming. Good Lord. I don't want-- oh. No lectures, okay? 'Cause I am just not in the mood.

Victoria: May I please come in?

Nikki: Okay. Ohh, my baby. Can I make you a drink? I got all the fixings.

Victoria: Mom--

Nikki: Honey, it'll make you feel better.

Victoria: Why are you doing this? Why? Why now? You are scaring me, Mom.

Nikki: No, no, no, no. No, don't be scared. You don't need to be afraid at all. That's what I'm saying, okay? Now listen to me. You just need to forget everything that happened in the park, okay? Your father and I will protect you. You don't have to worry.

Genevieve: (Moans)

Michael: What you're doing isn't noble. It's reckless, and Nikki would agree with me. She'd agree with me if you gave her the chance to.

Victor: Guard! Kindly take me back to my cell.

(Handcuffs clink)

Victor: I'll see you at the hearing.

Avery: What I find strange is how Victor's fingerprint on the succinylcholine case could be missed the first time. These--these forensics experts, they're really sharp.

(Cell phone rings)

Avery: Come on. (Exhales slowly) It's Michael. Hey, Michael, what's up? I was afraid of that. I'm on my way. The judge denied Michael's request. They're bringing Victor to court.

Sharon: (Gasps) Now?

Avery: I'm afraid so. We better get over there.

Sharon: (Sighs)

Nick: I'm gonna have to catch up with you guys.

Sharon: You're not coming?

Nick: I'm gonna try and find Ronan. He stopped the plea the first time. I'll see if he can do something now.

Deacon: All right, And, this one is on me. Here's to the beginning of a long and beautiful friendship.

Angelo: And a long and happy marriage.

Deacon: Hear, hear.

(Glasses clink)

Deacon: Mm. That, uh, that reminds me, by the way, I want to put 10k on the Cowboys to cover the spread for tomorrow's game, all right? Come on.

Angelo: (Clicks lip)

Deacon: I'm good for it. Come on.

Nikki: You are completely safe. I'm not gonna tell anybody. Your father's not gonna tell anybody, and I will make sure nobody says anything.

Victoria: Safe? What are you talking about? Safe from what?

Nikki: Honey, you don't have to worry, okay? Diane was just hideous. She ruined so many people's lives...

Victoria: Come on, Mom.

Nikki: And I'm not gonna let her destroy your--yours.

Victoria: Wait, hold on a second. You don't think that I killed Diane?

Nikki: Shh, shh, shh, shh. Don't--don't even say it. No one will know. Your father and I will-- we'll do life sentences for you if we have to.

Victoria: Yo Mom! Mom, I don't know what you're thinking or what's going through your crazy head right now, but I-I did not kill Diane.

Nikki: She was evil, evil! And I and your father will protect you always.

Victoria: (Sighs) Mom--

Nikki: We won't let anything happen to you.

Victoria: Mom, Mom, listen to me. Okay, listen to me. I may have been in the park that night, okay? But I am not a murderer.

Nikki: Honey, it doesn't matter to me. I will love you. I will always love you.

Victoria: Mom, look at me! Look at me! Stop it. I swear on Reed's life, I did not kill her, okay?

Nikki: You-- you did not--

Victoria: (Scoffs) Mom, no.

Nikki: Really?

Victoria: No, no, for the last time, no, I did not kill anyone.

Nikki: Wh-wh-- (Mouthing word)

Victoria: (Sighs)

(Cell phone rings)

Victoria: Hey. (Sighs) Yeah, um, I-I'm with Mom now. Did you have a chance to-- hold on a second. Wait a minute. How-- (Sighs) How can this be happening? Okay, all right. Yeah, I'll tell her.

Nikki: What? What?

Victoria: Dad's going back into court. (Sighs) Nick thinks that this time, the judge might accept his guilty plea.

Nikki: Oh, my God. Oh, my God, what do-- what do we do now? What do we do now, Victoria?

Victoria: (Sighs) Mom.

Jack: Um...

Genevieve: What are you doing?

Jack: I need my pants.

Genevieve: Oh, no, you don't, not around me. (Laughs)

Jack: I was gonna wait till Christmas... but now that I found you, I want to make you mine, officially and forever. Would you do me the great honor of agreeing to be my wife?

Billy: Hey, it's me. I'm back. (Chuckles) I know it was 20 years that we went without talking, and now it seems like we're doing this all the time. I prayed a lot for Delia. I promised you that if you could save my little girl, that I would be a better man, and it took some time for me to get to a place where I could live up to that, but I'm there, and I want to keep my promise, for Delia, for Victoria. Please don't let anyone hurt her again. I just want to give her the best life that I can, to be the husband that she deserves, and if you could give me a sign that I could actually live up to that, I would be most appreciative.

Victor: What are you two doing here?

Avery: You know what we're doing here.

Sharon: Avery is gonna try to find a way to help you.

Victor: I don't want to hear a word out of either one of you once the proceedings are under way. Is that clear?

Man: All rise.

Judge Click: Be seated.

Victor: (Clears throat)

Judge Click: Right to business, State vs. Victor Newman. I will ask you again, Mr. Newman. To the count of murder in the first degree, how do you plead?

Victor: Guilty, your honor.

Sharon: (Whispers) No!

Judge Click: You are freely admitting that you willingly and purposefully, with malice aforethought, killed Diane Jenkins. Are you prepared to accept the consequences?

Victor: Yes, your honor.

Judge Click: Given the new evidence provided by the district attorney, the court is prepared to accept your guilty plea and pass sentence at this time.

Phyllis: I'm gonna take a shower. Do you want to join me?

Ronan: Maybe. (Laughs)

Phyllis: Maybe?

Ronan: Maybe.

Phyllis: Really.

Ronan: Baby.

Phyllis: You might want to join me?

Ronan: I might.

(Door closes)

(Water running)

(Knock on door)

Ronan: Coming. Whoa, what--

Nick: My dad is at the court right now, about to plead guilty a second time. Now I know you know he didn't kill Diane. If there's anything you can do to stop this--

Phyllis: There's no hot water.

Judge Click: With regard to sentencing, I have read the arguments from both sides. Diane Jenkins was a woman in the prime of her life. Her young son has been left without a mother. It wasn't enough for you to violently bludgeon her to death. First, you injected your victim with a drug to paralyze her so she could not fight back. This adds a level of cruelty and inhumanity that, quite frankly, turns my stomach. Therefore, the court sentences you...

(Door opens)

Judge click: To imprisonment at the state penitentiary for a term of 25 years to life.

Nikki: No! You--you can't! He didn't do it.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

(Fabric tearing)

Myrna: No! No! No! No!

Nick: My mom could have killed Diane.

Ronan: Actually, I think it means that she didn't.

Nikki: (Sniffles) You've got to help your father, 'cause he did not do this.

Victoria: Shh.
