Tucker: You sure about this? Once we e-mail back that we approve, the invitations go out. There's no turning back.

Ashley: Well, it's fine by me. I can't wait to marry you again.

Tucker: Ohh. I didn't mean that. I meant, are you sure this is the kind of wedding you want? I mean, it's not too late to make it a little more splashy.

Ashley: What do you mean? A small church gathering the Friday before Thanksgiving-- it's exactly what I want. I've got Jack giving me away, and hopefully Billy's gonna be back in town, although I won't hold my breath.

Tucker: Mm.

Ashley: My dad's gonna be there in spirit. Just our closest family and friends. I love it. You don't like it?

Tucker: Yeah, well, your family. I'm not inviting my mother, and... (Sighs) I think we both know my son won't come.

Sofia: Hey, Sweetie. Yes.

Neil: That's my boy.

Devon: Hey, little man.

Sofia: Ohh. (Chuckles)

Devon: Hangin' with the parents tonight?

Sofia: Yes, Moses just left the pediatrician who's happy to report that our son is perfect.

Devon: Oh, well, I could have told you guys that.

Sofia: Aw.

Neil: Hey, so, Devon, what are you up to, Man?

Sofia: Shh.

Devon: I got roped into helping some girl out who thinks she can sing.

Neil: Wow. Care to join us?

Devon: Yeah, that would be great. I could use a break.

Neil: Yeah? Cool. Take that chair right there. (Clears throat) All right, so the, uh, the christening is set for next week.

Devon: That's right. Is there anything I can do to help?

Neil: Um, no, everything's pretty much set, except for the godfather.

Sofia: Well, Tucker is gonna be the godfather. He's already accepted.

Neil: Well, given what's been going on with Devon, I'm not sure that's the best idea.

Sofia: (Sighs)

Announcer: The role of Katherine Chancellor will temporarily be played by Michael Learned.

Jill: What, this is it?

Kay: Would you prefer a stack of bills?

Jill: (Chuckles) Oh, it's an invitation. Neil and Sofia are having their baby christened.

Murphy: Well, maybe yours will come tomorrow.

Kay: Oh, what makes you think? Oh, Darling, I didn't expect to be invited. Of course Jill would be. The Winters think of her as family.

Jill: Come on. You have as much right as I do to be there.

Kay: Apparently, Neil thinks otherwise. His party. C'est la vie.

Ricky: If this is about Heather and those photos, I--

Paul: You let Adam pull you into something, even once you knew the guy was bad news. And then after you saw who he was setting up, you took the pictures anyway, even though you knew it would destroy your sister's career.

Ricky: I was focused on Sharon's situation. A mistrial would have been a gift.

Paul: You know, Ricky, I might buy that if you didn't go to Phyllis first to find out how much those photos were worth. All I am asking here is for you to try and help me understand why you would do such a thing. You're my son. I barely know you.

Ricky: Right back at ya, Dad. I barely know you either.

Paul: So is that what this is about? You did this to Heather to get back at me?

Chris: You could have just recuperated in Genoa City and arranged to go back to work at the appropriate time. Instead, you set up a helicopter, you go out, not a word to anyone, including me? What I'd like to know is why, and so would Chance and your mother.

Ronan: You're gonna stand here and interrogate me like I'm one of your witnesses?

Chris: You had to have known there would have been questions.

Nina: You didn't even let me know that you were alive.

Ronan: (Sighs) Well, I'm here. I'm alive. And right now, I'm very busy, so if the three of you wouldn't mind--

Nina: No, we would mind. We deserve some answers.

Chance: Mom, let's go for a walk, okay?

Chris: I know a lot more than you think I do.

Nick: It's déjà vu.

Phyllis: What is?

Nick: You know, they say that, uh, all time happens at the same time.

Phyllis: What do you mean?

Nick: We're still together somewhere in the scheme of things.

Phyllis: Somewhere in the scheme of things.

Nick: It's probably just as well. All right, things are really complicated.

Chance: Mom, breathe.

Nina: (Sighs)

Chance: There you go.

Nina: I just don't understand why it's so wrong for us to expect an explanation. I mean, if he doesn't want to tell me, fine. But you risked your life for Ronan.

Chance: Mom, I don't care anymore. I've let it go. As much of a jerk as Ronan is...

Nina: (Sighs)

Chance: And can be, I'm just glad he didn't die. I've seen far too much of it, and... I'm glad that I could at least save his life.

Nina: Oh, of course you are. You risk your life every day to help people, whereas Ronan... he couldn't care less about anybody but himself.

Boy: Hi there. We're decorating this bench for tomorrow.

Nina: Oh, okay. Sorry.

Chance: Oh, um, yeah. Totally. We'll get out of your way.

Nina: What's tomorrow?

Woman: Uh, the Veteran's Day parade will be passing right by here.

Nina: Ah.

Woman: His whole troop is here putting up flags and stuff.

Nina: Oh, very cool. This is my son Chance. He used to be a boy scout, and now he's a soldier.

Boy: Awesome.

Chance: I'll tell you what. Uh, can I help you decorate?

Boy: Sure.

Nina: He's really cute.

Woman: (Chuckles)

Nina: Reminds me of Chance at that age.

Woman: He hasn't lost his enthusiasm yet.

Nina: Good.

Woman: When they get older... well, you know how it is. Their interests change.

Nina: Yeah, well, sometimes. Not always.

Boy: All finished.

Nina: Oh, it looks good. Good job.

Woman: Mm-hmm. Well, it nice meeting you both.

Nina: You, too. Have a good time. Bye. Aw, he's cute. Like déjà vu, you know?

Chance: I sure do.

Nina: Maybe that's why I can't give up on Ronan. I just--I didn't get the chance to raise him. I... I want to understand, you know? (Sighs)

Chris: So I found out where you went after surgery. The FBI flew you to a hospital in Washington. At that point, you asked to go undercover, so deep that I couldn't find you. (Scoffs) I just thought you were some S.O.B. who came here to rip out your brother's liver and your mother's heart. And I had a hard time reconciling that with the Ronan I knew. But as I've... (Scoffs) Recently been reminded, people aren't always as they appear. Case in point, you popping back up here like some regular beat cop. What the hell?

Ronan: I was requested to work this investigation.

Chris: Oh, please. You--you could have said no, right? But once again, you made a choice to come back here where your mom is. Why? Are you purposely trying to hurt her? Or are you finally ready to deal with the fact that you have a family?

Ronan: (Clears throat)

Ricky: I never set out to hurt Heather. I was just doing my job, and as terrible as this may sound to you, Dad, I had only just met her, so the first thought that came to my mind when I saw her kissing Adam wasn't, "Hey, that's my sister." It was, "Hey, that's a prosecutor kissing a witness."

Paul: Surely at some point it must have sunk in that "That's my sister," before you decided to use those photos against her.

Ricky: You're not listening to me. This was never about being against Heather. After I brought those pictures to Avery, I had serious second thoughts, but it was too late. She had already filed the motion with the judge. Then when the new evidence came out, and Sharon was cleared, I thought, great, it's over. I can just shred the damn things. But then Phyllis stole them, and everything blew up.

Paul: I really want to believe you.

Ricky: Dad, I swear to you, I never meant for any of this to happen. I wish that Heather had stayed and given me a chance to make it up to her.

Nick: How about some coffee?

Phyllis: No, thanks. Thank you for offering.

Nick: No problem.

Phyllis: Yeah. We're very polite.

Nick: Is that a bad thing?

Phyllis: It just is.

Nick: It's better than fighting.

Phyllis: It's not better than the makeup sex.

Nick: No, it's not.

Phyllis: We never had a problem with that.

Nick: I guess it's, uh, it's better for now if we're just... friends and colleagues.

Phyllis: I guess so.

Sofia: Tucker is like family to me. He's a good man.

Neil: Well, maybe you've seen evidence of that, but I sure haven't.

Sofia: Well, I am not gonna take this away from him. (Sighs)

Devon: You know what? It's cool. I'm all right with it. You guys each should be able to pick whoever you want to be the baby's godparents.

Sofia: See? If Devon's not offended by it, then maybe we should just stick to the original plan. Tucker is godfather. Olivia is godmother.

Neil: Okay. You win.

Sofia: Good.

Neil: (Sighs)

Ashley: Okay.

Tucker: Okay. (Sighs) You call it.

Ashley: Okay, um, to... second weddings and second chances.

(Glasses clink)

Tucker: And third and fourth and fifth chances.

Ashley: (Laughs) Yeah.

Tucker: Well, I hear that's important for, uh, for husbands, especially inexperienced ones like me.

Ashley: We're such a pair. I mean, can--can you believe this? I have been married... we're not gonna say exactly how many times, though, I've been married before. (Laughs)

Tucker: And I held out as long as I possibly could.

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: Until I met the perfect woman.

Ashley: And I finally got it right.

Tucker: Well, better late than never, Darlin'.

Ashley: Amen.

(Glasses clink)

Tucker: (Sighs)

Murphy: (Sighs)

Kay: Neil is angry with me and with good reason. I kept a secret I shouldn't have kept. It's not the first time I've had to live with the consequences of my actions. Something tells me it won't be the last.

Murphy: (Chuckles)

Jill: Yeah, but you'll move past it, both with Neil and Devon. I mean, look at us and our battles. Hell, we've practically made forgiveness an Olympic sport.

Murphy: (Laughs) And this time, you won't have to do it alone.

Nick: I'll take a large coffee, please.

Avery: Make that two, my treat.

Nick: You don't have to do that.

Avery: Well, I thought it might help ease the way for the big apology that I owe you.

Ronan: You've said your piece. Now if you don't mind, I have to get back to work.

Chris: (Sighs)

Nina: You ready to talk?

Ronan: As I was just telling Christine, I've said everything I have to say about what happened.

Nina: Ronan, I will always be your mother, and I will always be here for you. But I am finished trying to build a relationship with you. If you ever want one, you know where to find me, but I'm--I'm finished. I give up. You will never hear another word from me.

Chance: You don't deserve her.

Chris: You're sure this is what you want? (Scoffs)

Ronan: (Sighs) (Sighs)

Ronan: (Sighs) Listen, not now, okay? I'm, uh... you know what? I can't be here right now. I can't be here right now.

Chris: Look, you made the right decision. I'm proud of you.

Chance: I am, too, Mom. I'm proud and glad Ronan won't be hurting you anymore.

Nina: I always wondered what would happen if I ever found him. It just--it never occurred to me that he wouldn't want anything to do with me.

Chance: Oh, look who else is here.

Chris: A-and who's that with him?

Nina: That's Ricky.

Chris: Oh, my God.

Nina: He was working with Avery Clark on Sharon's trial. Uh, interning or something.

Chris: Maybe we should go over and say hello.

Nina: Yeah, sure.

Chance: Uh, you know what? I've got a couple errands that I have to run, but I will see you guys back at the house.

Nina: Okay.

Chance: Okay.

Paul: (Sighs)

Nina: Hey, Paul. Hi.

Paul: Oh, hi, you guys.

Nina: What are you doin'?

Paul: Uh, we were just, uh--

Ricky: Talking.

Paul: Ricky, Christine Blair. Uh, we were married ages ago, and now we, uh, are very good friends. She lives in Washington. You know Nina, right?

Chris: Hi.

Ricky: Hi.

Chris: I haven't seen you since you were a baby.

Ricky: I've heard a lot about you. It's nice to finally meet you.

Avery: If I may grossly oversimplify this here... (Clears throat) There are two kinds of crimes a person can commit-- an active one, where you create a situation to hurt someone, and then there is a crime of negligence, where you fail to do something you know you should have done to prevent harm, in this case warn Phyllis that it was not a good time for her to stop by. She called looking for you.

Nick: And you let her walk in on us.

Avery: It was a wrong choice, a lapse in judgment on my part, and I made it worse by not being honest with you.

Nick: Why'd you do that?

Avery: (Sighs) I couldn't resist, I guess. You know, for once, I was tired of being the good sister, the one who stayed, the one who stuck by my family when Phyllis ran away. A chance to get back at her fell in my lap, and I took it. I took it, and I didn't think about the consequences for you. This isn't who I am, and I'm really sorry. Nick, I did not take the high road in this, and I actually feel kinda sick about it.

(Knock on door)

Ronan: (Sighs)

(Knock)

Ronan: What in the hell are you doing here? Whatever this is right now, I'm really not up for it, so--

Phyllis: Okay. I heard the tail end of what happened in your office. How your mom declared that she didn't want to have anything to do with you. That affected you a little, didn't it?

Ronan: (Scoffs) I arrested you today. You just made bail, and--and you come over here... what am I supposed to do with this, Phyllis? And what are you after?

Phyllis: I know what it's like to have a messed-up family. Maybe we could... commiserate about that.

Nick: You know, Avery, you can talk all you want about how different you and Phyllis are, but what you did-- that's something Phyllis would have done, and it wasn't cool.

Avery: Mm-hmm.

Nick: But... you stepped up. You admitted that it was a mistake and you apologized, and I admire that.

Avery: Way to make a girl feel better. (Clears throat)

Nick: That's what I do.

Avery: Look, I think you are great. And if you haven't noticed, I am... very attracted to you. And I don't want you to think that I was with you because of Phyllis. Nothing could be further from the truth, and she did not even enter my mind until she called. Say you believe me.

Nick: I believe you.

Ashley: He is just the handsomest little baby boy ever...

Neil: Ohh.

Ashley: In the whole wide world. Hi!

Sofia: (Laughs)

Tucker: That's my godson.

Ashley: Hi.

Tucker: Its next week, right?

Sofia: Right.

Ashley: You're a cutie.

Tucker: I gotta tell you. I'm really honored you asked me to do this. I want to thank you both so much.

Neil: You can thank Sofia.

Tucker: Okay, Neil, I know you have issues with me, but I'm gonna be a good godfather.

Neil: As opposed to bein' a lousy father?

Tucker: If I had known about Devon, I would have been there for him.

Neil: You knew there was a child. You, uh, you just chose not to look too hard, didn't you?

Tucker: Were you there, Neil? What do you know about it, huh?

Ashley: Look, why don't we talk about the wedding, huh?

Tucker: (Sighs)

Sofia: You know what? That sounds like a great idea.

(Voices overlapping)

Ashley: The cutest little boy in the whole wide world.

Sofia: Yes.

Devon: You know, if you're too tired to go out tonight, Honey, we can just hang out at my place, as long as I get my Roxy fix. 'Cause you were in Europe way too long. (Chuckles) Nice. All right, I'll see you later. All right. Bye.

Man: Devon Winters?

Devon: Yes.

Man: Your roommate said I might find you here. I'm supposed to deliver this to you personally.

Devon: Okay. Thank you.

Devon: (Sighs)

Sofia: I am so excited you two decided to have a more formal wedding. (Chuckles) And it couldn't be a better time of year.

Ashley: That's what I keep telling Tucker. We have so much to be grateful for.

Sofia: Mm.

Tucker: You know, Sof, uh, I was kind of hoping you-- you could be part of the ceremony.

Sofia: Really?

Tucker: Yeah. Well, Abby's gonna be Ashley's maid of honor, and... Lord knows, you're my best woman in a whole lot of ways.

Sofia: (Sighs) Tucker, I would be honored to stand up for you, and thanks for thinking of me.

Tucker: Thank you, Sof, for stickin' by me. You know, aside from my beautiful wife here, you're really the only family I have right now.

Ashley: Well, I hope that'll change.

Tucker: So do I.

Kay: Yes?

Man: Delivery for Chloe Mitchell.

Kay: Oh, she's not home at the moment. I'll make sure she gets it.

Jill: I guess so. It's still pretty--

Kay: (Sighs)

Murphy: Hon, what is it?

Kay: It's a beautiful envelope, Tucker and Ashley's return address. I presume it's a wedding invitation.

Chris: Aren't they already married?

Jill: Yeah, well, they had a ceremony in his hospital room after he came out of his coma. From what I understand, they're renewing their vows.

Kay: To which I am cordially not invited.

Jill: Oh.

Kay: Oh, well. Their loss.

Nina: Well, if it makes you feel any better, you're not the only one with a son who refuses to be part of your life. I told Ronan that I'm finished. I can't do any more. The ball's in his court.

Jill: Ah, yes, the wayward sons club.

Nina: (Chuckles)

Jill: Where do I sign up?

Paul: And of course, then there's Ricky, whose behavior...

Nina: (Sighs)

Paul: I can't even begin to understand.

Murphy: Listen, having lost a son who I loved very, very much, I would encourage all of you not to give up.

Kay: Murphy's right, Paul. You and Ricky are just starting to get to know each other. Why don't you reach out to him now? Invite him to dinner. I'd like to get to know the boy.

Paul: Okay?

Nina: Yeah.

Chris: Good.

Paul: All right, I'll give him a call.

Nina: Good.

Paul: I'll see what he says. Excuse me. (Clears throat) (Cell phone rings) (Ring)

Ricky: (Sighs) Hey, Dad, what's up?

Paul: Um, listen, there's, uh, a group of us over at the Chancellor place. We got pizzas comin' over, and, uh, it's all very casual. I-I'd love to have you join us.

Ricky: Yeah, I'm, uh, I'm really busy right now.

Paul: There's a-a bunch of people I'd-- I'd love to have you meet.

Ricky: I don't think I can make it. I'll, uh, I'll try, but I can't promise anything. Bye.

Ricky: (Sighs)

Nick: And for the record, when we were, um, together, I wasn't thinkin' about Phyllis at all. I think you're really smart and talented, and I find you very hot.

Avery: (Laughs) You don't have to say that.

Nick: It's true.

Avery: I never... (Sighs) Having Phyllis for a sister, it's hard to compete. You know? You either got it, or you don't.

Nick: Avery, you've definitely got it.

Phyllis: Nick and I are divorced. We were kind of together. Sort of. We're not together anymore because of Avery. I could lose Lucy, which terrifies me. Again, because of Avery. When she came into town, everything just started going crazy in my life. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Ronan: It doesn't sound like it, does it?

Phyllis: I left home when I was a teenager. I have no desire to renew those ties with those people. If any-anyone understands not wanting to have an-anything to do with family, it's me.

Ronan: Yeah. Yeah, but, um... but it's not that, really. You know, it's, um, it's not that I, um... it's not that I don't want anything to do with them. It's that I owe them my life. I owe them my life. I don't know how to deal with that.

Neil: Okay, they're gonna bring us our drinks. (Sighs) Herb tea for you, triple espresso for me.

Sofia: Triple espresso?

Neil: Mm.

Sofia: (Chuckles) Someone is going to be a little wired later.

Neil: Yeah, well, come on. I'm guessing our little sleepyhead here is gonna get on the party bus, what? Right around the time it's-- for bed, and then, uh, again at 2:00 and then 4:00.

Sofia: 4:00, mm-hmm.

Neil: So this way, uh, I get a head start.

Sofia: Well, I hate to think of keepin' you up all night.

Neil: Eh, that goes with the territory.

Sofia: Neil, you just say the word, and I will take Moses back to my place, and you can get back to your normal routine.

Neil: Sofia, this is my normal routine, which makes me very happy, by the way.

Sofia: Sleep deprivation and all?

Neil: Come on. I'm treasuring every moment with our son. You'd really hurt my feelings if you don't stay with me throughout the holidays. You know that.

Sofia: Oh, well, I wouldn't want to disappoint you, Neil. (Sighs) Of course we'll stay.

Ashley: This has really been the prefect evening, hasn't it?

Tucker: Yeah, it sure has.

Ashley: (Gasps) I bet our wedding invitations have been delivered by now.

Tucker: Yeah. Yeah. (Sighs) I know I said it was a long shot, but...

Ashley: What?

Tucker: I'd really love it if Devon would come to our wedding.

Ashley: Oh, Honey, I know, and you know what? We still have some time. I mean, just think of Abby. We never thought she was gonna come around, and look what happened.

Tucker: That's true.

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: Maybe you're right. Maybe my son'll have a change of heart.

Ashley: Now hold on to that. Okay?

Devon: "The honor of your presence is requested at the renewal of wedding vows of Ashley Abbott and Tucker McCall."

Nina: I'm sorry. How can there be no good pizza in Washington? That's impossible.

Chris: I'm telling you. There's no good pizza, really.

Paul: I don't believe that either. I mean, if there's no decent junk food in D.C., what do all the mucky-mucks eat?

Jill: Right.

Chris: Well, when you're drunk with power, who needs food?

All: (Laugh)

Nina: You know what?

Jill: ...Good junk food here, either, you know what I mean?

Chris: (Laughs)

Jill: How's yours?

Chris: Oh, it's...

Phyllis: When you say you can't deal with owing your family your life, what do you mean? A-are you saying it's too much for you? Or that, um, you don't feel that you can... well, that you can give them anything in return?

Ronan: I don't know what-- (sighs) I don't know, you know? I don't know. It's just... its how I feel. And, uh... I've never told anyone that before. (Sighs)

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Chance: They're my orders for my next assignment.

Victor: Well, if Billy Abbott isn't where he's supposed to be, then where the hell is he?

Billy: I found a way to defang Victor.

Kevin: Okay, I'm kinda, sorta listening.
