Proofread By Emma

Charlie: (Cries)

Lily: (Sighs) Oh, my God. (Sighs) (Sighs)

(Cell phone rings)

Cane: Lily, what's wrong?

Lily: I, uh--

(Crying stops)

Cane: Lily?

Lily: Oh, sor--no, um, sorry. It's, uh, it's nothing.

Cane: Well, uh, calling me after midnight's not "Anything."

Lily: Well, I-I-I thought that you might be... (Sighs) Closing up at Jimmy's or something.

Cane: No, actually, I have the, uh, night off.

Lily: Oh, uh, sorry. I-I didn't know. Um, did I-- did I wake you up, or...

Cane: No, no. You didn't wake me up. I'm up.

Lily: I mean, the only reason why I'd be calling you anyways is if it had to do with the twins, so...

Cane: Are they okay?

Lily: Yeah, it was just a false alarm. Charlie woke up an hour ago, and...

Charlie: (Cries)

Cane: Wow, he, uh, he sounds annoyed.

Lily: Yes, he is, and... (Sighs) He won't stop crying. I've tried everything. I don't know. I think he's... (Sighs) I think he's crying for you.

Cane: I'm gonna come right over, okay?

Victoria: (Sighs)

(Rhythmic knock on door)

Victoria: (Groans) Come in, Sam. (Chuckles)

Sam: Hey.

Victoria: Hey. Hi!

Sam: I heard your car.

Victoria: (Giggles)

Sam: Is everything all right?

Victoria: Yeah. You waited up for me, huh?

Sam: Well, Keely did, you know? Poor dude was missin' you pretty bad, so I came and got him, kept him company for a while

Victoria: Were you missing me? Well, it has been a killer day (sighs)

Sam: So listen. I think we need to talk about sleepin' arrangements for tonight.

Billy: (Sighs)

Billy: Hi, uh, I.C.U. nurses' station, please. (Clears throat) Hi, yes, uh, I'd like to check in on Katherine Chancellor's condition. Yes, I'm family. No, no, no, no, don't-- don't patch me through to-- I don--

Jill: Hello? Hello? There's nobody there.

Murphy: Who'd be calling this late?

Neil: Must have been a wrong number.

Jill: I thought that maybe it was Brock or Mac checking in again.

Neil: Well, they know that we'll call with any news.

Devon: 100 miles away waitin' for the phone to ring. They must be out of their minds worrying.

Jill: Yeah, we all are. You hear that, Katherine? Come on, please get with it. You're not gonna let a stroke take you out.

Murphy: Uh, Jill, didn't Katherine's lawyer say he--he was on his way?

Jill: Yeah, I expected him to be here already.

Murphy: Well, maybe you should go check on him.

Jill: Okay, I'll do that.

Murphy: (Clears throat) I appreciate you guys being here, and I'm sure Katherine does too. Uh, but you don't have to stay all night.

Neil: Murphy, Katherine is like family, and so are you.

Devon: Yeah, I've gotten a lot closer to her lately since we started workin' together. I really admire her. She's an amazing woman.

Neil: She's very fond of you, too, Son.

Tucker: Is Katherine dead?

Mitchell: No. Why would you say she is?

Jill: Because that's what he wants, Mitchell. He wants her gone and out of is life.

Tucker: Jill, I came here to see Katherine, and Mitchell mentioned the will. I was afraid she passed.

Jill: Oh, well, don't get your hopes up. That's why he's here, because she drew up a new will, and she hasn't signed it yet.

Mitchell: Now I don't think we need to get into that, Jill

Tucker: Would you please tell me how my mother is doing?

Jill: As if you give a damn about Katherine.

Tucker: Would I be here if I didn't?

Jill: You would have been here an hour ago if you did, especially 'cause you caused her stoke.

Tucker: That was a business proceeding. I had no idea that was gonna happen.

Jill: When you were ill for weeks in this hospital, she never left your side, Tucker.

Tucker: That's why I'm here to see her.

Jill: (Sighs) Well, I won't allow it.

Tucker: You won't allow it?

Jill: The sound of your voice could put her over the edge. Now go away. I mean it, Tucker. (Voice cracks) Don't make this worse than it is.

Mitchell: So how is she?

Jill: She hasn't regained consciousness.

Mitchell: (Sighs) Well, the will is not valid without her signature. I pray to God nothing happens.

Jill: No, nothing's gonna happen to her. She's gonna survive.

Mitchell: I hope you're right. Is she, uh, allowed visitors?

Jill: Yeah, um, Neil and Devon are in there with Murphy with her.

Mitchell: Well, do they know?

Jill: No, and you can't say a word about the codicil in front of them. They don't know that Katherine added Devon to the will.

Cane: Thank you. So you need to tell me how you do it, huh? How does Matty do it? So how did she sleep through all that ruckus that you like to make?

Lily: (Scoffs) A bulldozer could go through and he wouldn't wake her up, unlike somebody else I know.

Cane: Yeah, well, this one is a night owl, just like his mommy. Aren't you?

Lily: Well, at least he's quiet now.

Cane: Well, that's the first step. Now the second step we have to do with you is the s-l-e-e-p.

Lily: (Chuckles) Yes, please, God, please let him sleep. Let him sleep.

Cane: Yeah, well, did you, uh, did you manage to find that book?

Lily: Uh, yes, yes, yes, yes. Yes, "Dot and the Kangaroo"... (Sighs) As requested.

Cane: Thank you. Would you like me to keep reading this to you? You know what I'll do? I'll skip through that scary part.

Lily: Thank you.

Cane: "I understood what the matter was with you at once, for I felt just the same way myself. I've been so miserable like you, ever since I lost my baby Kangaroo. You must have also lost something. Do you want to tell me what it is?"

Charlie: (Babbles)

Cane: Hmm? Hmm?

Neil: Um, Murphy, you've been here a long time. Why don't you go home and grab some rest, you know?

Murphy: No, the... (Sighs) No, there I'd be worried. Yeah. You know, it's funny, uh, that after all these years of living alone, that now I... I can't go to sleep without this lady lying beside me. (Chuckles)

Neil: I think we're gonna go grab a bite to eat, right? So we'll catch you later.

Devon: We'll just be a phone call away, all right?

Murphy: We'll be fine. (Whispers) We will.

Tucker: Why the hell would Katherine put Devon in her will?

Jill: I don't know.

Tucker: But you do.

Michael: As Katherine's attorney, I am not at liberty to discuss confidential matters.

Jill: This is none of your business anyway.

Tucker: I'm not so sure about that.

Jill: Listen, what Katherine does with her money is her own affair, Tucker.

Neil: You shouldn't be here.

Tucker: You've been in to see my mother?

Devon: Yes, we have.

Tucker: And business associates have more rights than a son? Hmm?

Devon: After what you did to her?

Jill: Tucker doesn't want to risk upsetting Katherine again, so he was just leaving, weren't you, Tucker?

Neil: Come on. We'll walk you out.

Tucker: No, I don't think so.

Jill: It's all right, Neil. It's all right. I can handle this. You two just go. Come on. I got it.

Devon: You know, it would be nice if you didn't show your face around here again.

Victoria: (Groaning) That was nice of Sam, wasn't it? Offering to let you spend the night with him so I could have a little peace and quiet. The funny part is, I... I hate being in this house all by myself. It used to be really chaotic here with Lucy and with Reed and Delia and Billy. (Chuckles) You know, I used to... I used to crave a little peace and quiet every now and then. Think we should make some noise. What do you think? Yeah? Let's make some noise. Let's make some noise. Do you want to? We're gonna watch a TV show. Come here. Come here. Come on. (Makes kissing sound) You'll love this one, I promise.

Man: Of "Father Knows Best."

Victoria: (Sighs)

Man: And now "Father Knows Best."

Lily: Thank you. I could have gotten Charlie to sleep on my own.

Cane: That's okay. You know, he would have, uh, cried himself to sleep eventually, so...

Lily: Yeah, I guess drifting off to the sound of your voice is a lot nicer... for Charlie, I mean. (Chuckles) Um, anyway, thank you for coming by, so...

Cane: You know, you don't-- you don't have to thank me for, uh, taking care of my kids. Dad is on call 24/7, just so you know.

Lily: (Laughs) Yeah, good to know. (Chuckles)

Cane: I should go. You, um, probably need to get some sleep, huh?

Lily: Yeah, I have to wind down first, though. Maybe with an old movie or something.

Cane: Really? Uh, you know, um, "The African Queen" is on tonight.

Lily: Oh, really? What time?

Cane: 3:15.

Lily: Oh.

Cane: Oh, if you're still up, maybe, um...

Lily: Yeah, I mean, you can't beat snuggling up on the couch with Humphrey Bogart while the twins are sleeping and the house is quiet.

Cane: Right.

Lily: (Chuckles)

Cane: Um... I'll call you, and, uh, I'll call you tomorrow to see how Charlie went. I mean, I'll call you today-- today. See, actually--

Lily: Yeah. Well, actually, um I have an early class at the gym, so...

Cane: All right, um, maybe I, uh, I'll stop in and I'll-- I'll see--see how the rest of your night went, okay? Good night.

Lily: Good night.

Cane: Good night.

Neil: (Clears throat)

Devon: What is it with Tucker?

Neil: Showin' up at the hospital?

Devon: Yeah, that, and the way he tricked Katherine in court, and then he practically killed her

Neil: Son, it wasn't intentional.

Devon: Well, the way he and Jack ganged p on her was pretty harsh.

Neil: You know something? Tucker has been going after Katherine and vice versa ever since he hit town.

Devon: And what is that about? Because that's his mother.

Neil: Yeah, a mom who gave up her son. I bet you he resents that.

Devon: Okay, but why get in her face about it? Why go after her company? If he hates her that much, why doesn't he stay the hell away from her?

Neil: Because when you carry around that much anger for that long... you know what I'm sayin'?

Devon: Yeah, but I mean, come on. Look--look at you and I. We butt heads sometimes, right? But when it comes down to it, we're a unit-- you and Lily an me. No matter what we're fighting about, we're family. Love and respect-- that's up front with us.

Neil: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it sure is.

Devon: Abby was right. Tucker McCall is a ass. I cannot stand that guy.

Jill: I'll handle Tucker, okay? Just go into Katherine's room.

Mitchell: All right, all right. (Sighs) Look, I-I-I'm--I'm sorry that I mentioned the will. I had no idea he didn't know. I--

Jill: No, it's--it's all right. Just go into Katherine. I'll follow you soon.

Mitchell: All right. All right.

Jill: (Sighs)

Tucker: Jill, tell me what's going on with Katherine and Devon.

Jill: (scoffs) He's a nice young man. She's mentoring him.

Tucker: She started a record company for him.

Jill: She likes him.

Tucker: She likes him so much, she put him in her will?

Jill: (Scoffs) Katherine is unpredictable, Tucker.

Tucker: She's treating him like he's family.

[Tucker remembering]

Woman: Both you guys are A/B-negative, which is pretty rare. Can I talk you into donating at the food drive?

Devon: You, too, huh?

Tucker: Guess we're a rare breed.

Devon: Hmm.

Tucker: Oh, my God. Katherine is treating Devon like he's a member of her family because that's what he is.

Jill: (Scoffs) Don't be absurd. You hear random remarks, and you're gonna take it--

Tucker: (Chuckles) No, after my accident, Katherine found out I had a son.

Jill: So what if she did? It doesn't follow that--

Tucker: And Ashley told me that Katherine was trying to find my boy... (Voice cracks) Her grandson. (Crying) Jeez oh, my God. Devon's my son.

Jill: No, no, that's not true.

Tucker: Does he know?

Jill: This isn't the time for this anyway.

Tucker: Does Devon know?

Jill: You are wrong. You're wrong about this.

Tucker: Unh-unh. It's the truth. I can see it in your face, Jill.

Jill: You should go.

Tucker: I found my son.

Jill: (Sighs)

Lily: (Sighs)

Neil: Hey, how you holdin' up? It's pretty late.

Devon: You're talkin' to musician, Dad. The middle of the night is when I get started. Unless you need to get some sleep.

Neil: Get-- I-I'm not that old yet.

Devon: Okay.

(Cell phone alert chimes)

Devon: Oh, Lily just texted me.

Neil: Lily? What's she doin' up?

Devon: That's what I'm textin' her.

Neil: (Sighs)

(Cell phone alert chimes)

Devon: She said that she can't sleep. I'll swing by there and check on her.

Neil: All right, good move. I-I tell you what, I'm gonna go check in at the hospital and make sure that Tucker isn't causing any more trouble come on.

Devon: Okay.

Cane: Jill? What--what is it? I-is it Katherine?

Jill: No, no, not ex-- not exactly.

Cane: Come on. (Stammers) Let's--

Jill: I can't. I can't. I just came out here 'cause I have to think.

Cane: What is t? What--what is wrong?

Jill: (Sniffles)

Cane: Listen, all right you can talk to me. You know that. I know you don't trust me anymore, but I love you. Please just--I know you're going through a lot with Delia and Billy being AWOL. Just--

Jill: I know, and then I had to deal with Tucker.

Cane: Wait is he-- is he here?

Jill: Not anymore he's not. But the damage is done. Oh, I wish to God he'd never shown up here. (Sighs)

(Knock on door)

Tucker: Sof.

Sofia: Hey.

Tucker: I'm sorry I called so late.

Sofia: Oh, no, it's all right. I was up anyway I can't sleep much lately these days.

Tucker: Why is that?

Sofia: (Sighs) Eight months full of baby will do that to a woman. (Chuckles)

Tucker: Oh, I'm--I'm sorry. I didn't think of that. I-I'm-- look, sit down. Sit down.

Sofia: Oh, no, no, no. I'm fine. Wh-what, is Ashley asleep?

Tucker: No, um, Abby had kind of a rough day today. Ashley decided to spend the night over there with her.

Sofia: Well, Tucker, what is going on? And what is all of this mess? What happened?

Tucker: (Sighs) I found my son.

Sofia: Oh, that's wonderful. Well, where does he live, and when are you gonna go visit him?

Tucker: Sof... it's Devon.

Sofia: Devon? (Scoffs) Our Devon?

Tucker: Uh-huh.

Sofia: (Stammers) That's not possible.

Tucker: Well, it--it fits. It fits. He grew up in the foster system, and--and there was no father in the picture--

Sofia: Well so did lots of kids grow up in the foster system. Well, how can you be sure it's Devon?

Tucker: There--there was a woman. There was a woman. We were together for a little while. Devon's the right age.

Sofia: Oh, my God. Wait, have you said anything do him?

Tucker: Not yet.

Sofia: All right, I want you to explain to me how this all went down.

Tucker: Okay.

(Theme music playing)

Man: Tune in tomorrow for another episode of Father Knows Best."

Billy: (Sighs) (Sighs)

Lily: So basically, there's still a chance that Katherine can regain consciousness, right?

Devon: Yeah, yeah, she's, uh, she's had a stroke before, and a couple mini ones. But she's always recovered.

Lily: Right, I don't see why this should be any different then.

Devon: Mm. So what has been keeping you up?

Lily: Uh, you know, babies. (Chuckles) Charlie had a rough night, and he's probably still be crying if Cane hadn't showed up.

Devon: Wow, it seems like my, uh, nephew's acquired a couple new skills. Not only did he memorize his dad's number, he dialed it, too.

Lily: Oh. (Laughs sarcastically) Why shouldn't I let Cane help? He's their dad.

Devon: He's just trying to finesse his way back in here.

Lily: Okay, I called him.

Devon: I bet, 'cause he's made it so clear that he'll be sitting by the phone any day, hour, minute that you want him back.

Lily: Listen, nothing romantic went on, okay? We're not getting back together.

Devon: You're just opening the door for that, though.

Lily: Okay, you know what? Would you stop, please? Just stop.

Devon: I'm telling you the truth. Guys read into stuff like that. You have to keep your guard up.

Lily: All right, well, you know what? I didn't think about that, so...

Devon: Maybe you should.

Lily: (Sighs) You know what? Look at Chloe and Delia and how they've been handling not having Billy around. I mean, tonight my little boy wanted his dad. And so no matter how you feel or how I feel, that's what matters. And you know what? I'm glad that Cane is around.

Devon: (Sighs)

Tucker: Katherine would not have added Devon to her will without absolute proof that he's my child.

Sofia: Well, that's true, but we need to verify--

Tucker: I've gotta find Devon.

Sofia: Tonight?

Tucker: Why wait?

Sofia: You can't wake him up with some theory.

Tucker: It's not a theory. The pieces fit.

Sofia: Not well enough to dump this on him. Y-you should talk to Neil first.

Tucker: No, Neil will try to stall me.

Sofia: Well, he should stall you. He's Devon's dad. He might have some insight on how this might affect Devon.

Tucker: I've been waiting for this for years. I'm not draggin' my feet now.

Sofia: (Scoffs) Getting his mother pregnant does not make you a parent.

Tucker: You might be carrying Neil's child. Does that skew your loyalties?

Sofia: Skew my loyalties? No, I am showing some objectivity here. You--you should do the same thing then you'd know what you're overlooking.

Tucker: What's that?

Sofia: You knew that woman had given birth to your child, and yet with all your money and resources, you couldn't locate him?

Tucker: I tried to locate him for years.

Sofia: Yeah, you tried and failed, failed just like Katherine failed you. And you know how that feels.

Tucker: Yes, I do. And you don't.

Sofia: Think about what this will do to Devon.

Tucker: (Sighs) He's my son. I know his name. I know where he lives. How can I sleep? How can I do anything?

Sofia: Tucker...

Tucker: When he asks me, I'll be able to say with complete honesty that as soon as I knew, I didn't wait. I came runnin'. Now I'm gonna go find my son.

Mitchell: I'll see you soon, Kay. And I'll ring the will so she can sign it when she wakes up. Now you call me if you need anything

Murphy: I'll do that.

Mitchell: All right.

Murphy: Thanks, Mitchell.

Cane: Is it okay if I talk to her?

Murphy: Yeah, of course.

Cane: Hey. Hey, it's Cane. Now listen to me, okay? You gave me a tongue-lashing the other day, and I deserved that. I'm sorry I disappointed you, but you have to do me a favor, okay? I love you, and you have to pull through with this so you can keep me in check, okay?

Murphy: She's assured me that she still loves you, too.

Cane: How you doin', Murph?

Murphy: I just want her to open her eyes.

Cane: When's the last time you ate?

Murphy: Hmm, I don't remember.

Cane: Well, we need you to keep up your strength for her, huh? Let's go get something to eat. Come on. Café's open 24 hours. Let's go.

Murphy: Okay, on one condition-- that she goes along, too.

Jill: I-I'm not hungry.

Murphy: She needs both of us.

Jill: (Sighs)

Billy: (Sighs) I'm dressed up like a doctor. But it was the only way I could sneak in here. I stopped by Delia's room. I was hoping I could, uh steal a few moments with her, but... Chloe was in there sleeping, so that didn't... work out. She looked so tiny surrounded by all that equipment. I am gonna be able to help her. She's gonna get out of here. This is killing me, Katherine. I mean... (Sighs) If you even know that I'm here, that I care, that I-I can't really be here in any way that matters. I'm sure you're wondering why, uh, I'm hiding out. (Sighs) Well, it's no surprise that I screwed up yet again, only this time, it's--it's really bad. And I miss Victoria. I am almost certain that she won't be able to forgive me for this. It doesn't seem like she really misses me anyway. So... I can't stay long. I have to--I have to go. But I'm hoping, um, you know I'm here, somewhere deep down inside, that you know I'm sitting here and it helps in some sort of way. What do you say? You want to come back to us? Huh? It's about time to get up and get out of here. What do you think? You want to come home? You want to get up? All right, well, I guess when you're ready. I love you, Grandma.

Victoria: (Gasps) (Groans) Billy?

Sam: Uh, it's just-- it's just me. Go back to sleep, okay?

Victoria: (Sighs) I'm sorry. Hold on. I don't know why I said that. (Sighs) (Sighs)

Sam: It's okay.

Victoria: Um, I was just having this dream because I was thinking about Billy before I fell asleep. I was calling out to him, but... he didn't come back.

Jill: (Sighs) I was hoping that I would walk in that door and find you glaring at me, wondering where everybody'd gone. (Sighs) Did you hear Cane come in to wish you good night before he headed home? (Sighs) Murphy'll be back soon. He just... he just went to the chapel. Katherine! Oh, dear God, Katherine, can you hear me?

Kay: (Mutters)

Jill: (Sighs)

Kay: (Weakly) Where am I? Where--

Jill: (Sighs) You're in the hospital. You're in the hospital. You just had a little bit of a spell, but now your eyes are open and you're talking. Lord! Nurse, nurse, she's awake! Send a doctor in. Oh, my God, we were so worried about you. Everybody, Sweetheart. Murphy and Cane and Neil and Devon and...

Kay: Devon?

Jill: Oh, yeah, about that. I know this isn't the best time to tell you, but... I-I don't know who he'll tell.

Kay: Who? Who? Who?

Jill: (Sighs) Tucker. Tucker knows... about Devon. He knows the truth.

Kay: You... told?

Sofia: (Sighs) Neil? I have looked everywhere for you. When you weren't home or answering your cell I came here hoping that you were with Katherine.

Neil: Sofia, I turned off my phone as soon as I got to the hospital. What's so urgent? What's goin' on?

Sofia: Look, I don't know if this is my place or not, but I'm worried about what might happen.

Neil: Happen with what? What's--

Sofia: Tucker is Devon's father.

Lily: (Yawns)

Devon: That's what I'm lookin' for.

Lily: Yes, finally. (Sighs)

Devon: Well, you should hit the sack before the sleepiness wears off.

Lily: Mm, yeah, I should, because the twins do not have a snooze button.

Devon: (Chuckles)

Lily: Anyway, thank you for coming by. I really appreciate it.

Devon: Yeah, of course. That's me, your brother, a big walkin', talkin' sleeping pill.

Lily: (Chuckles)

(Knock on door)

Devon: Who's knockin' at your door at this hour?

Lily: Uh, I don't know. May--maybe it's Cane.

Devon: We'll see about that.

Devon: Tucker?

Tucker: Hello.

Devon: Why are you here?

Tucker: Uh, can I come in?

Lily: Hi, Tucker.

Tucker: Lily, hi.

Devon: What do you want with my sister in the middle of the night?

Tucker: I'm not here to see Lily. Um... (Clears throat) I was on my way to your place, and I saw your car outside. The lights were on in here, so I, uh...

Devon: So what? You're lookin' for me?

Victoria: I'm sorry. Uh, you know what? This--this has-- this has gotta stop. I have got do stop living my life in limbo like this. (Sighs heavily)

Sam: What are you gonna do?

Victoria: I am going... I'm gonna take action. I'm gonna move on with my life, because clearly, Billy is not coming back.

(Pounding on door)

Cane: Billy, it's me. I know you're in there, man. Billy? I followed you home from the hospital. Open the door, or I'm gonna kick it in, all right? (Sighs)

Lily: (Sighs)

Next on "The Young and the restless"..

Malcolm: Whoever the father of your child is, you in love with one man-- my brother.

Cane: You know, there's something I should probably tell you about Billy.

Victoria: There's no caller I.D. Hello?
