Episode # 9736 ~ Tucker Sabotages Jabot

Jack: Call me back the minutes you get this. Damn! This is nuts.

Katherine: My phone is ringing off the hook. Now, what in the hell has happened?

Jack: All of the merchandise and display elements for the holiday season were to be shipped this week. Nothing has gone out.

Katherine: Why not?

Jack: Several of the shipping firms we use have canceled their contracts with Jabot. On top of that, the dock workers at the main bulk freight terminal have staged a work slowdown.

Katherine: What did you do now?

Jack: What did I do? Not a damn thing. This all is coming out of nowhere. I can't get anyone on the phone to give me any a-- Tucker. Tucker.

Ashley: I woke up and you were gone.

Tucker: I had some business I needed to take care of. It couldn't wait. I was hoping you'd still be here. Something's wrong.

Ashley: I just think that, um....well, I want you to know that making love with you didn't make me forget how you lied to me and all the damage that it did. But I also want you to know that I see how hard you're trying to make amends, and that reminds me of the man I fell in love with.

Tucker: I made mistakes. [Sighs] I let you down. I kick myself for that every day. But that's a new one for me...feeling bad about disappointing someone. It shouldn't surprise me because I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. I'm so happy to have you here...to be able to hold you like this. I want another chance with you, Ashley. I want a future with you. I want our marriage to work. I want you to come home. I got you something.

Ashley: [Laughs] That's exquisite.

Tucker: This ring is more than a gift. I'm asking you to marry me again, Beauty. I want to renew our vows. I want the world to know that we're still in love and that I'm making a commitment to you that'll last the rest of our lives.

Daniel: What's goin' on?

Eden: Uh, I'm saving my money to hire a hit man, so we can put out a contract on this stupid machine.

Daniel: Well, you're in luck. I just so happen to know a few mob types that'll do it for free, just so that they can stay in practice.

Eden: Sorry.

Daniel: For what?

Eden: I didn't mean to remind you about Lily's ex and that whole mess.

Daniel: Ah, it's fine. I can handle it.

Eden: Have you heard from her?

Daniel: Well, I texted her, I called her...She hasn't gotten back to me, though. I'm starting to wonder if she's going to.

Lily: Oh, you're early.

Cane: Yeah. I can go wait in the car if you want.

Lily: Um, okay.

Cane: I was joking. That was a joke.

Lily: Well, actually, it's probably best because the nanny's not here yet to supervise your visit with the kids, so...

Cane: Okay, sure. Whatever makes it easy for you. I'll do that. Okay.

Lily: Cane, wait... [Sighs] You don't...you don't have to do that. Um, just come in.

Cane: All right.

Lily: I'm almost done getting ready, so once Cindy gets here, I'll just take off.

Cane: Why, uh-- why you leaving?

Lily: Um, I'll be out in a minute.

Jill: [Sighs] Voice mail. Colin, where are you?

Colin: Genevieve, you card-carrying bitch, let me out! [Sighs] I'll get on my phone and get out of here. My phone...oh, my phone's upstairs! Damn! Genevieve! Genevieve! Let me out of here! I'm warning you. I am so gonna get you for this! Genevieve!

Ronan: Can I get a water?

Abby: So how do you do it?

Ronan: How do I do what?

Abby: Go to work every day, suck up pay for week's on end without even making an arrest. I mean, I do realize that Diane is still dead, but don't you have even the tiniest sense of urgency?

Ronan: Yeah, I mean, a tiny sense of it, but there's this little thing in my way called the constitution. See, it states I can't arrest anybody unless I have actual evidence

Abby: Tucker had poison sumac all over his hand, but you guys waited too long, and now it's all cleared up.

Ronan: How do you know it was poison sumac? Are you a dermatologist?

Abby: [Scoffs]

Ronan: It could have been poison ivy. It could have been an allergic reaction. It could have been a cluster of nasty mosquito bites. None of these, by the way, place him at the scene.

Abby: Look, I know what I know, okay? And it was poison sumac, from town park, the night he killed Diane.

Ronan: I hate to deflate your sense of self-importance, but "because Abby said so" doesn't cut it with a grand jury. I need solid proof if I'm doing to get an indictment for murder. So it's something that I already asked your help for, actually, but you turned me down flat, remember?

Ashley: You want to get married again?

Tucker: If you'll have me.

Ashley: You know, it's not like the first one wasn't legal.

Tucker: Oh, it was legal, but it wasn't the wedding I promised you. You deserve more than a two-minute ceremony in a hospital room.

Ashley: What'd you have in mind?

Tucker: Is that a yes?

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: You'll forgive me?

Ashley: I wouldn't be marrying you again if I didn't forgive you, silly.

Tucker: You just made me the happiest man in the world. Get rid of those trinkets.

Katherine: You really think Tucker is behind all this chaos?

Jack: He has the power, he has the influence, and god knows, he has the motive to want to tank Jabot. I'm sure he thinks if he can't have the company, no one will succeed with it.

Katherine: I'll call him.

Jack: No, no. I am in charge. I will handle this crisis, and Tucker along with it.

Katherine: Jack, you may run the day-by-day, but I own the damn company. Now, would you please step aside and let me make the call? This is Katherine, and I'm at Jabot. I need to talk to you now. [Sighs] In the meantime, Jack, I really think we should get ahold of Mitchell and tell him that we have...Oh, how dare you walk out on me.

Eden: Okay, try this one.

Daniel: It's getting better. Ahem.

Eden: I give up.

Daniel: No, seriously, it's getting better. It's much better than these. Notice I didn't get gag that time.

Eden: Great, I've graduated from putrid to vile. If I try really hard, maybe I'll make it all the way to seriously unappetizing.

Daniel: Come on. Get it, it's not a big deal. It may just take a little while, you know? Look, sometimes I gotta do like 50 sketches before I come up with a good idea. But if something's really worth it, then you just gotta be persistent. Maybe I should take my own advice and call Lily again.

Eden: You could, I guess...

Daniel: You think that's a bad idea?

Eden: You know, you've tried to get a hold of her a bunch of times. Kinda up to her now, you know? You can only control yourself. I mean, you can't force someone else to do what you want or don't want.

Lily: So, Charlie and Mattie are still napping, and I'd like you to sit with them until they wake up, and then you can bring them out to Cane. Um, and just remember everything that we talked about.

Cindy: I won't let them out of my sight.

Lily: Okay, thank you.

Cane: You, uh, you do know that you have nothing to worry about, right?

Lily: You know, I stopped believing your promises about a hundred lies ago. If there's a problem with the supervised visitation, then...

Cane: No, no. It's no problem. I just don't want to chase you out of your own home, that's all.

Lily: Well, I have things I have to do.

Cane: Uh, I, uh, assume you've heard about Cordelia.

Lily: Yeah, I just-- I just keep thinking about the day that she was born. You know, how she was stuck in the wrong position.

Cane: Yeah, sunny side up.

Lily: Yeah, but then there she was, just this perfect little girl, you know? Her whole life ahead of her.

Cane: I went and got tested, but I wasn't a match.

Lily: Well, since I had cancer, I....I've been sending up a lot of prayers for Delia, and for Chloe, too. I'm sure that she's terrified.

Cane: Yeah, I remember how scared I was when you were sick. You know, you're standing here now and you're just beautiful, and you're healthy. It just makes me think that we'll find a donor for that little baby and she'll be okay.

Lily: Well, she and Chloe have a lot of support, you know, just like I did, and that makes a huge difference.

Cane: Yeah.

Lily: Um, you have an hour, so I just want you gone when I get back.

Colin: Oh, Atkinson. You so walked into that one, you idiot. Heh. Who is gonna believe that? Yeah. Like Jill, for instance. Jill is so not gonna believe that she fooled you. [Sighs] Okay, there's gotta be a way outta here. I just haven't found it yet.

Jill: I can't believe he stood me up.

[Knock on the door]

Man: Good evening, Miss Fenmore. I was instructed to deliver these to you personally.

Jill: Thank you. Well, it's a good start, Colin. You'd better have a damn good excuse for being this late. "Told you I could keep him away from you. G". Argh!

Jack: Yes, Mr. McCall insisted it's imperative that you come right away. The Athletic Club dining room. He'll see you then. Oh, looks like our guests will be arriving shortly. Oh, by the way, no mention of my name. I don't want anyone to know I'm involved until the timing is right.

Man: Very well, Mr. Abbott.

Katherine: I assume you were expecting my call.

Tucker: Yeah, I figured I'd be hearing from you eventually.

Katherine: Are you going to deny that you're the person behind Jabot's sudden distribution problem?

Tucker: Oh, no. I'm delighted to take the credit, and I'm just getting started. There's more to come. Much more.

Abby: Hey, Mom, it's me. If you're in there, can I come in?

[Knocks on door]

Ashley: Hi.

Abby. Hey!

Ashley: So, what are you doing here?

Abby: Uh, I was just downstairs and wanted to say hi. Are you packing?

Ashley: Yes, I am.

Abby: Um, for what? For a business trip?

Ashley: Nope, I'm moving out of the club.

Abby: To where?

Ashley: My home.

Abby: You mean Uncle Jack's house.

Ashley: No, I mean home to Tucker's.

Abby: I don't believe this. I thought you could finally see him for what he is: A lying, cheating--

Ashley: Please, don't speak about my husband that way because I love him, and I realized how much I love him when I almost lost him, Abby. I was given a second chance when he recovered from the accident, and now I'm gonna give him a second chance, too.

Abby: You are insane. I mean, please, go ahead and yell at me and tell me how inappropriate that is, but the facts are the facts. When you are with this guy, it's like your brain glazes over. I'm not even trying to be disrespectful here, but that's what happens when you're with this guy.

Ashley: I don't wanna choose between the two of you, okay? So please don't ask me to. He's apologized for everything, and he's forgiven you for running him over with your car. He's also tried to protect you, Abby, and you know it! From the truth coming out. He is a good man, and I'm just very sorry that you don't see that.

Abby: He's a good man?

Ashley: Yes, uh-huh.

Abby: He's a good man?

Ashley: Yes.

Abby: He killed Diane!

Ashley: That's simply not true, honey.

Abby: What about the poison sumac?

Ashley: What about it? Okay, it's everywhere this time of year. You know that. We take walks all the time together.

Abby: Yes, and he took one the night that Diane--

Ashley: I'm not gonna listen to this any more, Abby, all right? Tucker didn't do anything to Diane. That's it.

Abby: I-- the only thing I can say is that you better watch your back. God forbid he does to you what he did to Diane.

Ashley: Goodbye, honey.

Katherine: Exactly what are you planning where Jabot is concerned? Or would you rather surprise me?

Tucker: No, I don't mind sharing. Since Jabot is having a helluva time getting its merchandise shipped, I've been talking to retailers, persuading them to drop Jabot altogether and carry Beauty of Nature instead.

Katherine: Well, why would you want to help Victor Newman?

Tucker: I'm just playin' ball your way, Katherine. If you can't get what you want through honest commerce, you have to resort to other means. I haven't broken any laws. There's really nothing you can do to stop me.

Katherine: What do you want, Tucker. What do you want?

Tucker: I want Jabot back.

Businessman #1: You got the same call from Tucker's assistant?

Businessman #2: Yeah, I assume it's legit. Check out this place.

Businessman #1: Well, that's McCall - first class all the way.

Jack: Excuse me, could I have your attention, please? First of all, thank you for coming. Uh, I know a few faces in this room. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Jack Abbott. I am the CEO of Jabot Cosmetics. I am here today to try to get some answers. You are here because you've been targeting my company, keeping us from getting our products to market, calling for work slowdowns, encouraging workers to call in sick.

Businessman #1: We thought you worked for McCall. You tricked us.

Jack: Guilty as charged. Please, continue to enjoy your drinks and appetizers while I try to get to the bottom of this. My first question is: I'd like to know what Tucker gave you, in return for your disloyalty to Jabot.

Businessman #2: He's accusing us of taking bribes.

Jack: I never said a word about bribery. Why, is that what's happening?

Ashley: [Gasps] Oh, God, no, this can't be happening. Not again.

Colin: Crowbar, hammer, quarter stick of dynamite...so they leave me a corkscrew. Great. Corkscrew? Wine cellar. Well, what's a guy to do if he's stuck in one place. I may as well enjoy myself. What have we got here? No, I don't think so. Maybe this...nope. Huh, what have we got here? '56. Minaret '56. '56 is left. It's gotta be worth three thousand dollars. Ha. And I'm worth every penny of it. I'm telling you, Genevieve. I won't be drinking to your health.

Jill: Genevieve! Genevieve! Colin! [Sighs] Son of a-- His sunglasses. A boarding pass for Colin. [Sighs] And that's the flight she was taking.

Cane: Here you go. Give me the ball. Give me the ball. You can do it. Give me the ball. No? I hope your sister wakes up soon. You know why? I'll tell you why. Because Daddy doesn't have much time. Look at that.

Lily. Hi!

Daniel: Hey. I called you a bunch and texted you. What's up?

Lily: You know, where do you get off going to my dad about me?

Daniel: Oh, you're mad because I told him you saw Cane.

Lily: Yeah.

Daniel: Well, Cane's a jerk, and your dad had a right to know.

Lily: Okay, Daniel, it's my life.

Daniel: I know it's your life. Just listen--

Lily: You know what, just stop. I already had this fight with my dad, thanks to you.

Daniel: I'm not fighting with you, but I'm also not going to stand here and apologize for giving a damn, okay? Everybody out there's worried about you. I don't know why you can't open up your eyes and see that.

Ronan: Malloy.

Abby: It's Abby Newman. I changed my mind. I'll do what you want.

Ronan: Talk to McCall wearing a wire?

Abby: If that's what it takes to get to get something incriminating so you can nail him for Diane's murder.

Ronan: Okay, great. How soon can we do this?

Abby: What about now? Would that work for you?

Katherine: I have no intention of returning something you stole from me in the first place.

Tucker: Chancellor board ain't gonna be happy when the company you shelled out megabucks for ends up in in the dumper.

Katherine: Because of your vicious, childish games.

Tucker: Games? No, no games. This is just an object lesson in what happens when you go out of your way to screw me over.

Katherine: You have enough - more than enough resources to start your own cosmetic empire. But no, you have to have Jabot and Beauty of Nature so that you can feel that you've vanquished your enemies. Then and only then will you be satisfied, hmm? Or so you think.

Tucker: End of lecture.

Katherine: [Sighs]

Tucker: Good. Now, here's how it's gonna work. If you don't sell me back Jabot, I'll make it impossible for them to do business. I will use every connection I've ever made, call in every favor. On the other hand, if you see reason, you sell Jabot back to me, I'll pay you a nice premium like you did when you maneuvered it away from me.

Katherine: You're willing to destroy a company if you don't get your own way.

Tucker: More than willing. I'll enjoy it. Any more questions?

Jack: I've got a problem -- a big problem. And you are the folks that can help me fix it.

Businessman #2: After you've just ambushed us, why should we?

Jack: Look, I'm not trying to cause any problems. I'm not. I'm trying to get my products to market. Tucker McCall is sabotaging us because he's unhappy that the company was sold back to its previous owner. He's unhappy even though he acquired the company himself under false pretenses. But the billions of dollars of profit he made are not enough. He wants his toy back, and frankly, he's behaving like a spoiled brat. I am here to talk to the men and women in this room, to negotiate with you as adults. Can we do that?

Businessman #1: Negotiate what?

Jack: A fair deal. A fair deal. That's all I'm asking. You represent the dock workers, right? Are you aware that McCall Unlimited has done extensive business with you biggest competitor? I don't know why you would lift a finger to support a company that does that. Charlie, you knew my dad from the very beginning, when he founded Jabot. We have been faithful to you and your workers and their families, ever since. I am committing, right now, in writing, that we will continue that relationship into the indefinite future. I guarantee you, Tucker McCall is not gonna make a guarantee like that. Joe, you represent the freight workers. If your haulers can get our products to market on time and undamaged, I'll offer 1% bonus on all Jabot freight that you handle. We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars a quarter. This is a partnership agreement. Jabot does well, you do well.

Businessman #2: We like that.

Jack: Good. What do you say, ladies and gentleman? Can we get back to doing business as usual?

Abby: Okay, so, once I get Tucker to admit that he was in the park that night, what do I do?

Ronan: Nothing. Make up some excuse to get out of there as fast as possible, and you come back here to the van.

Abby: Seriously? That's all you need to put him away?

Ronan: If you get me that much on tape, I'll have a lot more to go on next time I question him, okay? You don't go in there playing detective, or trying to force anything. McCall's no dummy. He'll know that something's up right away.

Abby: I just want him behind bars before he can hurt anyone else.

Tech: Say something, Abby, so I can check the sound level.

Abby: Like what?

Tech: Good.

Ronan: Breathe. Breathe. If you're tense, he's gonna know it. He won't open up to you.

Abby: I know, I know, I know, okay? Don't worry, I can do this. I have to do this.

Ronan: I'll be right here in this van, right outside of Tucker's building the whole time. Now, we're gonna be recording everything you say. If I hear anything weird, and if I sense that you're in trouble, I will be up there in two seconds.

Abby: Okay, okay. Let's do this. I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm not afraid of Tucker.

Ashley: Who's doing this to me? Who is doing this to me? I gotta call Nick. Please, Nick. Please, Nick. Pick up, Nick, pick up. Oh, damn it! Oh, God. I gotta hide this. I gotta get rid of it. I gotta get rid of this one, and the other one, too.

[Knock on the door]

Abby: Hey, it's Abby. Is anyone in there?

Ronan: I really hope this pays off.

Lily: You know what? I thought that you had changed, and that I could trust you.

Daniel: You can trust me. You can trust me to look out for what's best for you, even if you're not gonna do it. And I don't think you should be anywhere near Cane.

Lily: Well, you know what, it's not your call.

Daniel: Well, you know what? Come on, Lily.

Lily: You know what? Leave me alone. Just stay away from me.

Daniel: Well, I would say that was pretty much the worst case scenario.

[Doorbell rings]

Cane: [Sighs] Would you mind getting that for me.

Cindy: Um, I'll take Charlie. You get it.

Cane: Fine. That's a good idea. I'll get the door. [Sighs] Hey, what's up?

Jill: I-I'm sorry to interrupt your time with the kids, Cane, but I need your advice.

Cane: Sure, wha-what's going on?

Jill: Do you think it's possible-- would your father have left town with Genevieve?

Cane: I hope so. For your sake, I hope they stay gone.

Colin: Pouring a family vintage. Hmm, costs someone a lot of money. Glad it wasn't me. Seems a shame, now that I've opened it, to let it all dry up and go to waste. Genevieve...hmm, not bad. Genevieve, I'm gonna get you for this. But first, I'm gonna get drunk.

Katherine: God as my witness, I will stop you.

Tucker: I'd love to see you try. I really do mean that. Watching you flail around helplessly...I can't think of anything more entertaining.

Jack: I can. The looks on your faces when I tell you my latest news.

Katherine: What news?

Jack: I was able to shut down Tucker's latest attempt to tank Jabot.

Katherine: Ah.

Jack: All of the workers are back on the job. All of the deliveries will be delivered on time as scheduled. And assuming our latest sales projections are correct, Jabot's going to have a very merry Christmas.

Tucker: And when did all of this sleight of hand supposedly occur?

Jack: While you and Katherine were standing here, bickering. I am getting sick of Jabot being used as a pawn in your battle against each other. Tucker, you need to learn: you're gonna lose sometimes. Find a way to handle it with more grace. Katherine, you need to respect my leadership. I am running this company. I am in charge. I've done all of this without you.

Katherine: May I remind you that Jabot is a subsidiary of Chancellor Industries, and I'm the only Chancellor in this room! Get out of my way.

Tucker: You see where I get my charm?

Jack: You sign that contract giving me complete control of Jabot, and I'll help you get the company back from Katherine,

Tucker: Ha, ha, ha!

Ashley: Why are you here? You want to harass me again about me moving back in?

Abby: No, no, Mom. I--I didn't even think that you would be back here. Is Tucker around right now?

Ashley: No. No, I'm alone. Why?

Abby: Oh, you look really upset. What's wrong? What did Tucker do to you?

Ashley: He didn't do anything to me, Abby, okay? I'm glad you're here. I'm afraid.

Abby: You're afraid of what, Mom?

Ashley: What you said earlier. You know that just because Tucker was in the park the night that Diane died, it doesn't mean that he killed her. You know that, right?

Abby: Did he say something to you?

Ashley: No, this isn't about him. I'm trying to tell you that I was in the park that night.

Abby: I don't want to hear this.

Ashley: I, no, no, no.

Abby: Mom, don't say another word.

Ashley: I was in the park that night, and something I did has come back to haunt me.

Next on "The Young and The Restless" ...

Sam: We need to find somebody to take care of you.

Victoria: Like who?

Sam: Like me.

Billy: Is Vicky spending a lot of time with Delia?

Victor: I don't want you to see my daughter again. Is that clear?

Abby: (Scoffs) Get out of my way, or I will have you charged with kidnapping.
