Episode # 9726 ~ Cane Is Dismayed by Lily and Daniel's Connection
Provided By Suzanne
Proofread By Emma
Cane: (Sighs) Excuse me. Have you--have you talked to Daniel?
Abby: Uh, no. Why? You want to know if he's still seeing Lily?
(Knock on door)
Lily: Hi.
Daniel: Hey, what's up? Um, come on in.
Lily: Thanks. Um, I just wanted to say sorry, uh, that I had to rush home to the twins last night after...
Daniel: After things got crazy with us?
Lily: (Chuckles) Do you think what we did was crazy?
Daniel: Do you?
Lily: Well, I-I think that we should talk so there's no misunderstanding.
Daniel: Got it. You think that hooking up was a mistake.
Lily: A mistake? No, I don't-- I don't think that at all.
Victoria: Good, Mom. That's so great. I'm glad to hear that you're doing so well in rehab. No, listen, you just take your time, okay? Don't worry about anything. Everything's good here. (Scoffs) I love you, too. Okay, bye-bye.
(Knock on door)
Sam: Hi there.
Victoria: Hi, uh, I didn't realize that you were coming over to, um...
Sam: You, uh, you told me I should stop by and pick up the keys.
Victoria: Oh, right, yeah. I did. Okay. Sorry. Come on in. You'll have to forgive me. I'm--I'm a little bit s-- uh, scattered at the moment, I guess. Oh, here we go.
Sam: Oh, no worries. I really need to thank you again for lettin' me rent that garage apartment. That's, uh, that's very nice.
Victoria: Yeah, sure. Oh, listen, before you go, would you do me a favor?
Sam: Sure. What do you need?
Victoria: Uh, I can't open it.
Sam: Just--just the box?
Victoria: Yeah, just the box.
Sam: Okay.
Victoria: Thank you. Oh. That's smart. I didn't think of that. (Chuckles) Oh, great. Thank you.
Sam: You're very welcome. There you go.
Victoria: Oh. Oh, no.
Victoria: (Scoffs)
Avery: Sharon.
Sharon: Hey. So tell me your good news. Did you find Koa?
Avery: Not yet. I'm not here about your trial.
Sharon: Oh.
Avery: I'm here about something, or I should say someone else.
Sharon: Who?
Avery: Phyllis Newman.
Michael: You have a sister in town? A sister?
Phyllis: Her name is Avery.
Michael: How do I not know about this? You have--Avery. Sharon's lawyer's name is-- Avery Bailey Clark. Avery Bailey Clark is your--
Phyllis: Yeah, that-- okay, that's her. Yeah. Yeah.
Michael: She's your sister.
Phyllis: Don't make a big deal out of this, please, Michael.
Michael: I have known you for years. I have known you for years, Phyllis, and you have never even mentioned a sister.
Phyllis: (Clears throat)
Nick: (Quietly) The lab ran the tests multiple times. It is definitely Adam's D.N.A. on the envelope.
Ashley: (Quietly) So he sent the picture of me at the park. Now do you think he lucked into it, or did he know that there was gonna be a shot of me on the surveillance camera?
Nick: I'm guessing he knew, and he probably knew because he found the phone that you dropped.
Ashley: So he heard the message you left on it, which means he knows you were in the park the night Diane died, too.
Nick: It has to be Adam calling me and playing that voice mail back.
Ashley: There's just one thing.
Nick: What?
Ashley: Why did he make it so easy for us to find his D.N.A.?
Nick: The jerk was so anxious to start screwing around with us, maybe he got careless.
Ashley: Unless it's a trap.
Nick: (Quietly) So you think Adam wanted you to find his D.N.A.?
Ashley: (Quietly) Look, if he didn't have a bigger plan in mind, then he would have taken the shot of me in the park and the message that you left on my phone and handed it over to the G.C.P.D.
Nick: Not necessarily.
Ashley: Of course he would have, Nick. I mean, once the police get their hands on that evidence, Adam's no longer the prime suspect. We are.
Nick: Okay, the only way-- the only way that Adam could have your phone and have taken that picture is if he was in the park the night that Diane was killed, too. Now maybe he hasn't gone to the police yet because he doesn't want to answer any questions about why he was there, as well.
Ashley: He could have sent it anonymously.
Nick: And risk having it traced back to him? How would he explain that?
Ashley: Look, everything you're saying makes sense, unless...
Nick: Unless what?
Ashley: Adam has a completely different agenda that we don't know anything about.
Nick: Well, Ashley, we need to find out what that is.
Phyllis: You don't know. Um, I didn't-- I didn't tell you...um, because my-- my past--my, um, my upbringing and my parents and, uh, it--it was--it was bad. They weren't abusive like--like Kevin's... dad. Not physically. It was bad. I had to get out. I had to get out. So one day, I just-- I left, and I didn't ever-- I didn't look back. (Sighs)
Michael: Not even to keep in touch with your sister?
Phyllis: No. I wanted to forget. (Voice breaking) I don't want to remember. I want to forget. I don't want to talk about this. I don't want to talk about this with you. I don't want to talk about it with my sister.
Michael: I know. I know. Listen to me, though. You can bury these emotions, but they have a way of coming back at the most inappropriate times.
Phyllis: (Normal voice) No, no, no, they don't. No, they don't. I-I'm fine. I don't have to-- I don't have to look at these emotions. I don't have to deal with this. I'm fine. I'm fine, and she's fine, too. She's a big hotshot attorney-- Avery Bailey Clark. I mean, she's doing great.
Michael: Yeah, yeah. Avery Bailey Clark. She has a reputation, you know. She has a messiah complex, wants to save the world.
Phyllis: Well, it's better than wanting to blow up the world.
Michael: No guilt about leaving your sister?
Phyllis: Who are you to judge me?
Michael: I'm the last person to judge, the very last. Look, I abandoned my brother. I abandoned my little baby brother to Terrible Tom to let him be beaten, to let him be locked in closets. I carried that guilt around with me, and I will for the rest of my life. You cannot imagine. Maybe you can. There's not a day that goes by, Kevin told me, that he didn't wish I'd come back.
Phyllis: What's your point?
Michael: Don't tell me the guilt doesn't gnaw at you.
Phyllis: It doesn't.
Michael: Well, I hope... for your sake that you repair this relationship. Knowing Avery Bailey Clark's reputation, she doesn't sound like the type who would be very understanding about it.
Avery: This isn't about you and Phyllis. It's about Phyllis and me.
Sharon: I don't understand.
Avery: What I'm about to tell you will not affect in any way how I handle your legal proceedings. Phyllis is my sister.
Sharon: What? Your sister? Wow, uh, I don't know what to say. I... you didn't bother to tell me this when you offered to take my case?
Avery: No, I didn't.
Sharon: Well, I don't know if I can trust you now. Maybe you should go.
Cane: Don't worry about it.
Abby: Don't worry about what? The fact that you're responsible for me and Daniel breaking up?
Cane: Are you really gonna pin this on me?
Abby: You're lying, pretending to be dead, doing the whole ghost thing with Lily--really, the only thing that was missing was that pottery wheel. You messed her up so bad, she needed a big, strong shoulder to cry on.
Cane: Well, you do know if you guys were solid that none of this would have happened.
Abby: Yeah, yeah, you know what? You're right. We had issues, and we would have worked them out if Lily hadn't sucked him back into her universe. Thanks to you, I'll never get Daniel back. Thanks.
Cane: Okay, well, I'm sorry that things didn't work out for you, but you know what they say-- you, uh, can't always get what you want.
Abby: Well, you should know.
Daniel: So what you said about taking things slow...
Lily: Yeah, I still think it's a good idea. I mean, not that making love impulsively doesn't have its advantages.
Daniel: It was pretty memorable, wasn't it?
Lily: Yes.
Daniel: (Chuckles)
Lily: It was. It was beautiful and wonderful.
Daniel: Oh. Oh.
Lily: And like I said, I don't regret any of it.
Daniel: But you still have to sort through your feelings for Cane. I...
Lily: Well, yeah, I just... (Sighs) I mean, you understand. I don't want any of the old stuff to get in the way of--of us, you know, of this. You know, that's not fair to either of us.
Daniel: You know, if you want to take a step back, I get it. It's totally cool.
Lily: No, I'm not running from anything.
Daniel: Not even away with me to camp on the beach in Malibu?
Lily: (Chuckles) Right, with the sand fleas?
Daniel: Mm.
Lily: Mm-hmm.
Daniel: Good times.
Lily: It was good. That was great. (Chuckles)
Daniel: We should, um, we should take a walk. (Clears throat)
Lily: Right, yeah, so we don't, you know...
Daniel: Yeah. These hands, they'll--mm! (Laughs)
Lily: (Laughs) Yes.
Daniel: Can't keep 'em to myself. (Laughs)
Lily: Okay, um, yeah. A walk--walk sounds great. Let's go.
Daniel: You have no idea how happy you've made me.
Lily: Likewise. (Laughs)
Victoria: (Scoffs)
Sam: What's wrong?
Victoria: Well, the bike that I ordered for my son was supposed to come put together.
Sam: You have a son, huh?
Victoria: (Sighs) Yeah, yeah, I do. He lives with his dad. But he's coming to visit soon.
Sam: Ahh.
Victoria: Yeah.
Sam: That'll be nice.
Victoria: Yeah, it's gonna be nice. We were gonna do a video chat later, and I was gonna show him his new bike put together. (Groans)
Sam: Uh, you know, I could certainly take a crack at it for you, if you like.
Victoria: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You don't have to-- you don't have to do that. That's fine. Thank you. No.
Sam: No, no, no. It's--it's the least I can do. Thank you for letting me bunk here while I'm in town.
Victoria: Oh. Really?
Sam: It's, uh, my pleasure.
Victoria: Oh.
Sam: Uh, do you have any tools, though?
Victoria: Uh, yeah. I-I-I do. I'll get the box.
Sam: Okay.
Victoria: Thanks. Thank you. Oh, here it is.
Sam: I'll get this out of the way.
Victoria: Great. All right.
Sam: Let's see.
Victoria: All right. So, um, how's the new job going?
Sam: Uh, well, I gotta tell you, it's interesting. I've certainly never worked in an air-conditioned barn before, you know?
Victoria: Yeah, yeah. Well, my dad has some very beautiful horses. That's for sure.
Sam: He does. And I thought, uh, we had some fine ones back home, you know?
Victoria: Well, do you miss it? New Mexico? Yeah?
Sam: I do. I do, you know? It's a great place to live.
Victoria: Oh.
Sam: But, uh, I mean, I-- I-I can't really...
Victoria: Oh, I-I mean, well, because Sharon's not there, I'm sure.
Sam: Well, you can't just abandon a friend in need, you know? Can you?
Victoria: Of course. Of course. So how did you two meet?
Sam: I found her sleeping in my barn.
Victoria: (Chuckles) That's something.
Sam: Yeah, yeah.
Victoria: She didn't tell you why she was there?
Sam: Oh, you know what? I didn't ask.
Victoria: Oh. Well, weren't you even just a little bit curious?
Sam: Eh, it was not my business, really.
Victoria: Well, she, uh, she did put you in kind of a bad position.
Sam: Eh, you know, lookin' back on it, I can see that she tried to warn me away, you know? She actually did.
Victoria: Well, you're very supportive and accepting. I don't know how you could forgive her for keeping such a huge secret from you.
Avery: Before I go, at least give me a chance to explain. Phyllis is my sister, but before today, I hadn't seen or spoken to her in years, not since I was a kid.
Sharon: Why?
Avery: It doesn't matter. What matters is how this affects you and why I didn't tell you until now. When I first examined your case, I saw that Phyllis was writing articles and blogging about it, but I had no idea how deeply the two of you were intertwined until I really read the transcripts.
Sharon: So you didn't know about Nick and the horrible affair--
Avery: What she put you through all those years because of him? Not until I got here, no.
Sharon: All right. You're saying that the only reason you came to Genoa City was for my appeal? It had nothing to do with Phyllis?
Avery: Yes.
Sharon: I don't believe you.
Avery: (Sighs)
Phyllis: What Avery thinks of me doesn't really concern me.
Michael: Keep tellin' yourself that.
Phyllis: Yeah, you know what? You caught me at a bad moment earlier. I'm fine. I appreciate you trying to talk me through it. I'm not really looking for your advice. I'm not really interested in it. I saw Avery earlier. We discussed it. We're good.
Michael: Hmm. When will you see her again?
Phyllis: Never.
Lily: Okay, a moonlight swim? Really? (Laughs)
Daniel: Yeah, what's wrong with that?
Lily: Do you remember what happened last time we went swimming in the "Moonlight"? Do you remember that?
Daniel: Ohh, okay. So we do something else. We--we could, um, glue dollar bills to the floor and watch people try and pick 'em up. You know, we could videotape it, post it on Viewclick.
Lily: Oh, right, wow, I am seeing a whole new side to you.
Daniel: Mini-golf? We could go...
Lily: (Chuckles)
Daniel: (Makes hissing sound) Tag Crimson Lights.
Lily: Uh-huh.
Daniel: There's polka in the park on Monday nights. I mean--
Lily: Really? You polka? Really?
Daniel: For you, anything.
Lily: Aw.
Daniel: (Chuckles)
Lily: Anything?
Ashley: (Quietly) What if housekeeping realizes they're missing a key?
Nick: (Quietly) We'll put it back before she realizes it's gone.
Ashley: Okay, now what are we looking for?
Nick: Anything that will link Adam to Diane's murder.
Ashley: What if Adam comes back, or hotel security? What if we got arrested?
Nick: We're gonna be gone before anyone knows we were here.
Ashley: Well, I don't want Malloy to use this against us on top of everything else.
Nick: Okay, Ashley, if it'll make you feel better, you can wait outside, but I'm not leaving here till I find something.
Ashley: No, all right, all right. I'll stay.
Nick: You know, I doubt there's gonna be anything here. We could just jump the bastard when he walks through the door and beat the truth out of him.
Ashley: Not today. According to this, Adam's not even in Genoa City.
Avery: I'll let the judge know you need time to find another lawyer. Isn't that what you want?
Sharon: I'm not happy about this. You say... that coming to Genoa City had nothing to do with Phyllis. But it seems like there's something still unresolved between the two of you, and my guess is that you want some kind of closure. I just wish that you had told me that up front.
Avery: I know. It's an unusual situation. I'm sorry.
Sharon: Yeah, I'll say.
Avery: So where do we stand?
Sharon: (Sighs) well, the bottom line is, you did the impossible. You got me another trial. And I'd have to be a fool to toss out a lawyer as good as you, especially at this point. So just no more surprises, please.
Avery: There won't be any.
Sharon: All right, well, to ensure that, I need to know what it was that happened between you and Phyllis that caused you to be out of contact all this time.
Avery: I don't see how that's pertinent.
Sharon: Well, if Phyllis left home and never once wanted to talk to you again, then there's a good chance she still feels that same way now. Now her testimony could be crucial to my case, so if she's gonna have a problem with you in court...
Avery: You let me worry about Phyllis. It'll be fine.
Sharon: That's my future you're playing around with.
Avery: I don't play around with my clients' defense. You're gonna have to trust me that until this trial is over, you are my only concern-- not me, not Phyllis.
Michael: You can't get away without seeing your sister.
Phyllis: Yeah, I can, too.
Michael: She's the lead counsel on Sharon's case.
Phyllis: Mi-Michael, we had a-a chat earlier. We talked. I-it--we made it very clear-- I made it clear I-it's--it's-- its better this way. It's fine.
(Cell phone vibrates)
Phyllis: My God. Are you kidding me?
Sam: Wow, this is a nice-lookin' bike.
Victoria: Wow. That is great.
Sam: I gotta tell you, your son Reed-- I think he's gonna like this.
Victoria: Yes, he's gonna love it. Thank you. Thank you very much.
Sam: Sure.
Victoria: And you know what? If you need anything... if you need a cup of sugar or an internet connection or anything, just feel free to knock on the door.
Sam: Well, I, uh, may take you up on that.
Victoria: Great. Uh, listen, a-also, I-I didn't mean to pry earlier about Sharon. I just... I guess I'm not really like you. I... I just don't find it as easy to forgive and forget, you know?
Sam: Well, I didn't have enough information to make a judgment, you know? So there's really nothing to forgive.
Victoria: Wow. You make it sound easy.
(Laptop buzzes)
Victoria: Time for my call.
Sam: Sure.
Victoria: Time for my call.
Sam: I'll, uh, I'll clean this stuff up. I'll get out of your hair.
Victoria: Oh, yeah, thank you. Hey, Baby. Look at you! Look at those swim trunks.
Reed: Daddy and I are teaching Dylan how to swim.
Victoria: Oh, that's great. That is so great. I am glad that you're having fun with your little brother. But you know what? You're gonna have some fun here when you visit next time, because I got you a surprise. I got you a surprise. Wait till you see this. Look at this!
Reed: Awesome!
Victoria: Yes, it's awesome. I got it put together just in time to show you.
Reed: You did it yourself?
Victoria: Um... uh... busted! (Chuckles) No, I-I actually didn't do it myself. I-I had a little help.
Reed: Is Billy back?
Nick: Hi, I'm Adam Newman's assistant. He wanted me to confirm that he's on the plane and he's going to make his appointment tomorrow. Thank you. That's legit. He's on the schedule.
Ashley: I don't know. It could be a trick.
Nick: Using eye surgery as a smoke screen?
Ashley: I wouldn't put anything past him. Are you kidding? How could I after what he did to me? He put cameras all over your father's ranch, spied on us, made it look like I was going crazy.
Nick: (Sighs) I don't think we're gonna find anything here.
Ashley: I can't just stand around and wait for Adam to make the next move. There has to be some way we can get into his perverse head.
Nick: You know, there's one person who's an expert on all things Adam. I wonder if Sharon would help us figure out what Adam's up to.
Avery: I'm glad you're not letting this thing with Phyllis get in the way. I know for a fact she'd just as soon keep our connection private.
Sharon: Well, given she's a witness in the case, I don't imagine that's possible.
Avery: That's a good point.
Phyllis: I am being summoned to a last-minute deposition for Sharon. It looks like my sister is on a power trip. She doesn't really know who she's dealing with, does she?
Michael: Careful, careful. This is Avery Bailey Clark. She does not back down easily.
Phyllis: Oh, great, you're a fan.
Michael: Well, I've tracked a few of her trials. She's extremely tenacious-- something the two of you share, by the way. You want me to come with?
Phyllis: To the deposition?
Michael: You'll need counsel.
Phyllis: I thought you didn't want to be my friend anymore.
Michael: Nobody should go to a deposition alone.
Phyllis: Thank you. That's very nice of you. I can't imagine anybody else at my side.
Michael: Besides, I don't want you to be beat up by your little sister.
Abby: Wow, didn't take you long to get over the love of your life, did it, Lily?
Daniel: Abby, hey. Hey. What are you doing? We're not together. We haven't been for a while.
Abby: Yeah, well, it doesn't mean that I want to see you with someone else, and especially not her.
Daniel: Abby.
Cane: You're on a date with Daniel, huh?
Lily: So we're not having this conversation.
Cane: Okay. So how are the babies?
Lily: You know, as long as you're here, I actually want to talk to you about something.
Cane: You can talk to me about anything you want to talk to me about.
Lily: Why haven't you returned the divorce papers?
Cane: Look, I know I have to sign 'em, but every time I try and do it, I just can't do it.
Lily: Are you refusing to sign the divorce papers?
Cane: Look, I know you want to move on, and I don't want to stand in your way, 'cause I don't want to cause you any more pain, but every time I try and sign 'em, I just--I can't.
Lily: No, you mean, you won't.
Cane: In my head, I know it's the right thing to do, but in my heart, it's--it's wrong.
Lily: Okay, you can say this is out of love, but by you not signing them, you're only hurting me more by not letting me move on.
Cane: Well, I don't mean to do that.
Lily: You know, you end up doing a lot of things you don't mean, and somehow, something terrible happens. I'm getting a divorce, and you can cooperate or not.
Cane: You know, I really do think we can work this out.
Lily: You know, for a while, I thought that it would be possible to move on. And not only do I know it's possible, but I have.
Victoria: No, Baby. Uh, Billy's not back. Actually, I had-- I had a friend help me. Reed? Hey. Are you there?
Reed: There's a problem with the camera.
Victoria: Oh, um, okay. Well, go get your daddy and see if he can fix it, and I'll just wait for you to call me back. I'll be right here waiting.
Sam: You know what? I'm gonna run this out to the garbage right now. If you don't mind, I can start moving in.
Victoria: Oh, uh, yeah. Yeah, go ahead. The garbage is in the garage.
Sam: I appreciate it.
Victoria: (Sighs) You must... you must really think I'm a big mess.
Sam: No. No, no, no, not at all. I don't.
Victoria: Well, I kind of am. I'm kind of a wreck.
Sam: Well, I don't see it.
Victoria: What do you see?
Sam: Well, I see a good mother. I see a woman who misses somebody pretty badly. You know, that's something I can understand.
Nick: Hey.
Sharon: Hey. Twice in one day. Are the kids okay?
Nick: Uh, the kids are fine. You don't have to worry about that.
Sharon: Well, thank you for bringing Faith here. I just... I... it meant the world to me.
Nick: Well, it was the right thing to do.
Sharon: Some days can get pretty low in here. So to hold her in my arms-- I just really needed that. But anyway, I'm sure you-- you didn't come to talk about that.
Nick: I need a favor from you. It's about Adam.
Sharon: Oh, great. What's he done now?
Nick: You know what? I-it doesn't matter, okay? It was selfish of me to come.
Sharon: Well, no, wait a minute. Now I'm worried.
Nick: Don't. But, Sharon, there may come a time when I need your help and understanding in my brother's twisted thinking. But for right now, I know you have enough to deal with.
Sharon: Yeah, my trial's next week.
Nick: Yeah. Uh, your lawyer, um...
Sharon: Avery.
Nick: Yes, Avery. It's because of her that you're getting another trial. I think she's an excellent lawyer.
Sharon: Yeah, and she's a lot more than that.
Phyllis: Is this necessary?
Avery: On time. Take a seat. I see you brought counsel. Avery Bailey Clark.
Michael: Michael Baldwin.
Avery: Your reputation precedes you.
Michael: As does yours.
Phyllis: Can I talk to you, please? Um, I thought I made myself clear that we're to have nothing to do with each other.
Avery: You did.
Phyllis: What is this about?
Avery: I have to prepare Sharon's defense. You're a material witness, and I have some questions regarding your last testimony. Let's get started, shall we?
Phyllis: (Clears throat)
Avery: State your name.
Phyllis: Phyllis Newman.
Avery: And for the record, are you my sister?
Phyllis: Yes.
Avery: When was the last time you saw me?
Phyllis: Uh, before today, when you were a kid.
Avery: Have we had any contact since then? Phone? Internet?
Phyllis: No.
Avery: What kind of contact have you had with our parents?
Phyllis: None.
Avery: So would you say your testimony will not be influenced by our familial bond? Even though I'm your sister, it won't prejudice anything you say under oath in my client's favor?
Phyllis: Yes, I can say that.
Sam: Well, your--your son'll probably be callin' back soon, so I'll let you go.
Victoria: Okay.
Sam: Thanks again for rentin' me that apartment, though.
Victoria: Oh, no. No, actually, I should be the one thanking you for everything-- for the bike and everything.
Lily: Don't make this tougher than it has to be. Just sign the papers and send them in. Please.
Daniel: You okay?
Lily: Yeah, let's go.
Ashley: Nick, its Ashley. Would you please call me as soon as you hear anything at all from Sharon? O-okay? I'm just a total basket case, and I'm waiting to hear from you, so please call me right back.
Abby: Hey, Mom.
Ashley: (Gasps) Thanks. Hi. You startled me.
Abby: (Chuckles) You okay?
Ashley: Yeah, I just didn't-- well, I didn't see you.
Abby: (Groans) I could use a drink.
Ashley: (Sighs) What's the matter, Honey?
Abby: Life is pretty much kicking my butt. Guess who I just ran into?
Ashley: Who?
Abby: Daniel and Lily. It's official-- they're an item.
Ashley: I didn't know that you were still, um, interested in Daniel.
Abby: I don't think I am. I guess, I don't know, I miss having someone to talk to. I miss having someone on my side.
Ashley: I'm on your side. I know. It's not the same.
Abby: I know. I know. I know. It's just when I was with Daniel, everything seemed so chill, and now it's just one huge disaster after another.
Ashley: What else is goin' on?
Abby: (Quietly) Well, I mean, the video I made that could send me to prison...
Ashley: (Quietly) I know.
Abby: It's just floating around out there.
Ashley: You know what? And I just keep telling myself, as long as it doesn't surface...
Abby: (Sighs)
Ashley: And it hasn't surfaced yet, we're okay. Anything else?
Abby: Just stuff. Just life. It really sucks not being able to control things.
Ashley: Yeah, tell me about it.
Avery: Let's talk about the memory card that proves Sharon's innocence. You found it in Thailand?
Phyllis: I went to Thailand. I never saw or heard anything that was on a memory card. Adam Newman did.
Avery: In any case, you came home with a number of memory cards from that trip. Is that correct?
Phyllis: That is correct.
Avery: Did you think they had some kind of value?
Phyllis: No, I just wanted to have 'em hanging around for fun. I just thought it would be really great.
Michael: Phyllis, be nice.
Phyllis: I thought-- I thought that one of them would yield some evidence, okay?
Avery: Did you give them to a forensics expert Emmett Robins to see if he could recover anything useful?
Phyllis: Yes, I did. He said that he couldn't, and I told him to toss them in the garbage.
Avery: But then he gave them to Adam Newman, correct? And eventually, Mr. Robins did find an audio track that cleared Sharon.
Phyllis: Again, I never saw or heard anything that was on a memory card. So anything Emmett says to me is hearsay, correct?
Michael: (Whispering) All right, now that's not helping.
Phyllis: Emmett's claims could be true, or they could not be true, but me personally, I don't have any direct knowledge that could help Sharon, all right?
Michael: (Normal voice) Ex--excuse me a minute. (Whispering) Are you really just gonna sacrifice Sharon to get back at Avery?
Avery: What was that?
Phyllis: Nothing. I don't have anything more to say to you.
Sharon: Avery is... she's my only hope. She believes in my innocence, and, um, my future rests in her hands.
