Episode # 9709 ~ Billy & Victoria Make Love

Provided By Suzanne
Proofread By Emma

Paul: Yeah, okay. No problem. I'll let him know. Detective Mauro got called away on another assignment.

Ronan: Oh?

Paul: She's gonna catch up with us later.

Ronan: We can't wait around for her. There's too much work to be done.

Paul: Hey, look, if you think I'm just gonna stand around and talk about work like we're old buddies reunited on assignment...

Ronan: What I expect you to do is your job, like I'm gonna do mine.

Paul: You know, maybe sneaking out of town with your brother's liver wasn't a big deal to you, but you kind of left a lot of people hurt in your wake. I think you owe us an explanation.

Ronan: The only obligation that I have right now is to solve a woman's murder. Now you can help me with that or not.

Victor: What is the damn holdup?

Michael: I don't know if you've noticed or not, but this investigation's a pretty big deal around here. You and Diane did not exactly end things amicably. The more information they have about your involvement with her, the better-- the better I'll be able to protect you.

Victor: I don't know what you want me to tell you that you don't already know.

Michael: Neither do I, but if you think of something, it would be better to tell me sooner rather than later.

(Pounding on door)

Adam: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm coming.

Jack: You did it, didn't you? You took my son's mother from him.

(Keys rattle in lock)

Billy: (Clears throat) (Vibrates lips) (Sighs)

Billy: "Vintage photo re-creations"?

(Cell phone rings)

Billy: (Sighs) Hey, Rafe, what's up? Yeah, I knew Chloe was gonna tell the judge that I violated the custody agreement, but that's not what happened. What do you mean, I can't see Delia at all? What the hell, Rafe? Wha... (Sighs) Fine. Just keep me posted on the appeal. Thanks.

(Front door opens)

Victoria: Hi, uh, I didn't-- I didn't really expect to see you here.

Billy: Yeah, I just came to get my stuff.

Victoria: When I asked you to have coffee, you said that it wasn't a good idea for us to--

Billy: Yeah, it's not a good idea.

Victoria: I realize that I pushed you away before. I really need my friend.

Ronan: You ready to work now?

Paul: You know, I have been doing this kind of work since you were playing t-ball. When I get hired to do a job, I do it.

Ronan: Good. That's good to know.

Paul: But that doesn't mean I'm going to let you get away with not answering my questions.

Ronan: Paul, the fact that the G.C.P.D. rehired me tells you everything that you need to know.

Paul: So you have got until the end of the day, and then I'm gonna call Nina myself and tell her you're back in town.

Ronan: Hey, come here. Look at this right here.

Paul: Heel marks.

Ronan: Uh-huh.

Paul: The body was dragged away from here.

Ronan: Strange. It makes no sense. Why would you drag the body away just to bring it back? What have you got?

Cristina: I'm heading to the lab to start analyzing what we have. I thought you might want to look at this first. It looks like it was signed by the victim.

Paul: You know what? See what you can pull from this cell phone. And get on that right away. It's a priority.

Cristina: All right.

Ronan: Okay, thank you.

Paul: Anything useful in the letter?

Ronan: Yeah, it told me the first person I'm gonna bring in for questioning.

Jack: Go ahead. Talk. And don't tell me you cared about Diane.

Adam: Oh, I do, Jack. I'm just crying on the inside. This town has no imagination. Every time a crime is committed, every Tom, Dick, and Sherlock come knocking on my door.

Jack: Diane had you this time, didn't she? You thought you had her helping you stick it to your old man. She screwed you over, didn't she?

Adam: Oh, by going to the S.E.C.? That was gonna hold no ground.

Jack: Well, we'll never know now, will we?

Adam: You want to kick theories back and forth, Jack, about who had motive to kill Diane? Because I have one--you.

Jack: She was the mother of my child.

Adam: And where is your child, huh? Wait for it. Wait. You don't know. So Diane sneaks your son out of this country to take him away from you. If my ex did that with me and my son, why, I might be inclined to kill her, too.

Jack: Well, I guess we can all be grateful that you're not a parent. All I care about is Kyle.

Adam: You know, he's gotta be real scared and alone right now.

Jack: You are talking about my son. You understand that? My son! This is what I know-- Kyle is in Switzerland in a boarding school under an assumed name. What do you know, Adam?! If you know anything more than I know, you tell me now!

Michael: (Quietly) Please. Over here.

Victor: Okay.

Michael: I am your attorney. Anything you tell me--

Victor: (Sighs) You listen to me. I have nothing to do with Diane Jenkins' murder. Why the hell would you keep on asking me that question?

Michael: Because you and Diane have a history.

Victor: I did not kill her, okay?

Michael: But you're not sorry she's dead.

Victor: Not many people are.

Michael: No, not many people are.

Victor: I'm sorry, all right? I know that you were friends with her. I understand that. But that doesn't concern me right now. I don't want to discuss this damn thing-- not now, not in the future. Get me the hell out of here. Expedite my release.

Billy: I should go, really.

Victoria: You know, I miss her, too.

Billy: Yeah, I miss everything about this place. But we're not gonna be able to go back, so...

Victoria: Why not?

Billy: (Sighs)

Victoria: I mean, why can't we go back? Why can't we just... why can't we just go way back and just be friends?

Billy: Friends? Yeah. Friends. Yeah. Yeah, that's when we were best, right? Just hangin' out. No expectations I can't live up to.

Victoria: (Sighs) That's not what I meant.

Billy: Yeah, you know, good old Billy-- he screws up everything. Maybe he can cut it as a pal.

Victoria: I'm just... (Sighs) I'm going through a really difficult time right now, all right? I'm worried about my mom and all of this stuff with Diane.

Billy: (Sighs) Yeah. I'm sorry. I am. I-I can't help you right now, though.

Victoria: No, right, of course. Of course you can't help me, because you have an appointment at Jimmy's or at the track.

Billy: Yeah, what if I do? What if I have an appointment at Jimmy's or the track? What if I do?

Victoria: I'm hurting, too, okay? I am. And I stood by you when you needed me. I was there for Delia’s custody hearing. And I just bailed you out of jail. I've been standing by you here, holding you. So even if it's just for a minute, do you think maybe you could do the same for me?

Adam: Not my fault, jack, that you can't keep track of your own son. Maybe next time, you'll put a G.P.S. on him.

Jack: There is a very special place in hell for people who use children. If I find out you have anything to do with Kyle disappearing, I'll see that you get there. Oh, my, the police. Police don't make you nervous, do they?

Adam: Why would they, Jack? I have nothing to hide.

Ronan: Good. Then you won't mind coming down to the station and answering a few questions for me.

Adam: (Chuckles) Detective Malloy. Welcome back.

Ronan: (Chuckles) Oh, Adam. Thank you. It's good to be back. I'm here working the Diane Jenkins murder.

Jack: Oh, I'm sure Adam would be happy to help you with your investigation.

Ronan: Uh, actually, I'm hoping you're gonna be as cooperative, Jack.

Jack: Me?

Adam: Whoops.

Ronan: Yeah. I have a few questions for you, too.

Victoria: Billy, please. Please.

Billy: I-I can’t. I can't be your buddy.

Victoria: After everything we've been through? After everything you put me through? You don't have any feelings for me?

Billy: Of course I have feelings for you.

Victoria: Why are you doing this then? I'm sorry that-- that I pushed you away. I just--I'm upset. I've been really--

Billy: You were right. We're bad-- we're bad together.

Victoria: We're worse apart.

Billy: You know what? Okay, I-I shouldn't have come. I need to just...

Victoria: No. You can't stay away, right? I know you can't stay away.

Billy: This isn't right.

Victoria: That's a lie, and you know it.

Michael: Oh, Paul. Anything on the case?

Paul: Well, I found out who the lead investigator is. It's Ronan Malloy.

Michael: Oh.

Victor: He's Nina’s son. The FBI agent?

Paul: He works for the G.C.P.D. now.

Victor: Oh.

Ronan: Adam, wait here.

Paul: Jack, what's the latest? Did you get the photo of Tim Bilton that the, uh, boarding school sent?

Jack: No, their internet service is down right now. So I'm trying to get them to fax something here.

Victor: Why don't you simply get on the airplane and go there?

Jack: Because I can't leave until Detective Malloy questions me.

Victor: Oh. So you and Adam, I see, are both suspects now.

Jack: Gloat all you want. The only person who's being hurt by this delay is Kyle.

Victor: I know that. And I would help you find him if I could.

Ronan: But you can’t.

Michael: We heard it all from Spencer.

Ronan: Good, then Spencer also told you that I'm going to have a word with your client.

Michael: No.

Victor: What about?

Ronan: About the fact that you're trying to leave town after the woman who was blackmailing you was murdered.

Victor: I have nothing to hide.

Paul: The usual suspects-- Diane’s exes and Adam.

Ronan: Hmm. For some reason...

(Footsteps approach)

Ronan: I'm bettin' there's a lot more people out there who wanted to see Diane dead. Doc, what do you got?

Doctor: Preliminary autopsy report.

Ronan: Blunt force trauma to the head.

Doctor: And there's your murder weapon.

Ronan: Ten blows? Really?

Doctor: She was most likely dead after two or three.

Paul: Hmm.

Ronan: Thanks, Doc.

Paul: Bashed in the head ten times. Somebody had a lot of anger in them.

Ronan: Well, let's find out who.

Ronan: So tell me about your relationship with Diane.

Adam: She was married to my dad for half a minute. He dumped her, left her with nothing. I felt sorry for her, so I had her move in with me until she could land on her feet, but I barely knew her.

[Adam remembering]

Adam: Yeah, toss that around so it looks like it spilled out in a struggle.

Diane: I will take care of this. You take care of the rock.

Adam: Oh, I already put your blood on a rock. Did you, uh, send that text to my dad havin' him come here?

Diane: Before I left the room.

Adam: (Dusts off hands) All right, good. Well, all we need now is to put this under here, and then we will drag the body from here to here.

Diane: Okay, but not wearing those.

Adam: What, it's just-- it's just got a little mud.

Diane: This is a $400 dress. Excuse me. Thank you.

Adam: Happy? Okay.

Diane: (Clears throat)

Adam: Let's do this. All right, put your feet over here.

Diane: Okay, okay.

Adam: Start from the water's edge.

Diane: All right.

Adam: Let's go.

Diane: Ow! Ow! You don't have to hold me so tight!

Adam: Hey, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. Come on now.

Diane: Ow!

Adam: I haven't heard a corpse complain this much in I don't know how long.

Diane: (Scoffs) Okay, well, this just better work.

Adam: (Coughs) Well, it's gonna work for sure. We've got my dad's watch. We've got the bloody murder weapon, the missing body, the text you sent to him-- more than enough evidence to frame my father for killing you.

Ronan: You weren't lovers? And you weren't friends? You weren't close at all?

Adam: Like I said, I hardly knew her.

Ronan: So... when was the last time you saw the mother of your son?

Jack: Yesterday.

Ronan: Was that a pleasant encounter?

[Jack remembering]

Diane: You came.

Jack: Yeah, I got your text asking me to meet you.

Diane: Yeah. You know, I-I meant for you to come later.

Jack: This better be about Kyle-- telling me where he is.

Diane: Jack, I can't talk to you right now.

Jack: The hell, you can't! Kyle called me from Switzerland scared and confused. How could you send him off by himself?

Diane: He's being well taken care of.

Jack: He's a kid, in a foreign country--alone!

Diane: Jack, you have to go.

Jack: No, I'm not going anywhere until you tell me exactly where my son is.

Jack: Last time I saw Diane, she came to my house.

Ronan: To discuss what? Your son?

Jack: To discuss us. She wanted us to get back together.

Ronan: Really? So then I... I'm gonna assume that you turned her down.

Jack: Flat.

Ronan: When was the last time you saw your ex-wife?

Victor: I don't recall.

Ronan: You didn't get a text that stated, "Meet me at the footbridge in the park"?

Victor: Mm... I believe I did. Mm-hmm.

Ronan: You did. Okay, so you did.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Ronan: So you went to the park.

[Victor remembering]

Diane: Victor.

Victor: What is this all about? Why'd you ask me to come here?

Diane: Adam set you up for my murder.

Victor: No, I didn't go to the park.

Ronan: (Sighs) (Scoffs) (Chuckles)

Ronan: You hardly knew her? See, that's strange, because according to the S.E.C. and the D.A.'s office, the two of you worked together to fraudulently hijack the Newman I.P.O.

Adam: Wow, I didn't know cops read "The Wall Street Journal."

Ronan: (Chuckles) Yeah, well, I'm full of surprises. See, when you got caught, Diane made a deal with the S.E.C. and the D.A.'s office. She paid a fine, escaped jail time, in exchange for her testimony that you... you spearheaded the entire scheme. Oh, that wasn't very nice of her, was it? That wasn't very nice at all. Matter of fact, it probably made you mad enough to want to kill her.

Adam: Don't you just love a good murder mystery?

Ronan: I prefer live bodies, myself. You know, Diane might be one had you seen this before you went to the park.

Adam: (Sighs)

Ronan: But unfortunately, for both of you, you didn’t.

[Adam remembering]

Diane: Scene of the crime-- looks authentic, right down to my blood on the murder weapon.

Adam: Now we just have to wait for Dad to show up. It'd be nice if there were a witness.

Diane: I'm surprised you didn't set that up.

Adam: Well, if it happens, it happens. But I don't trust anybody to get in on this plan.

Diane: I know what you mean. I don't even trust you. That's why I bought myself a little insurance.

Adam: What are you talking about?

Diane: Remember Gingerman?

Adam: The name sounds vaguely familiar.

Diane: He's the photographer you paid to release that video to the media... the one of the ambulance leaving the ranch the day of the Newman I.P.O. I made a deal of my own with him.

Adam: I hope this deal doesn't include you double-crossing me.

Diane: If you do anything to stop me from starting a new life with Kyle, an audiotape of Gingerman naming you as the source of the Victor stroke story will go straight to the S.E.C.

Adam: You always keep things interesting, Diane. I tell you what, I'm gonna miss you. I'm almost sorry that Victor has to kill you. But, uh, look, at least it's gonna be a painless death.

Adam: All this proves is that Diane had a conscience. She hated my father, and she went after him. I would applaud her for that, not kill her, especially since she owned up to it.

Ronan: You thought she was gonna put all the blame on you.

Adam: And here we are right back at the beginning. Don't you get tired of chasing your tail around?

Ronan: (Laughs)

Adam: Oh, you know, um, one more thing-- in the interest of saving taxpayer dollars, I was at the Athletic Club last night. You can talk to the bartender, Eddie. He'll verify it.

Ronan: Eddie, yeah. Thanks for the tip, Adam.

Adam: Mm-hmm. You know, there is somebody else that Diane screwed over in this whole S.E.C. deal-- Jack.

Ronan: The last time that you saw Diane was at your house? You never went to the park? Even though you were desperate to find your son. I mean, even though that-- she texted you asking you to come to the park? Yeah. We know about that. So we're gonna try this one more time, and you're gonna tell me about the last time you saw Diane.

[Jack remembering]

Diane: Jack, you need to leave now.

Jack: You are some piece of work. You come to town telling everybody how much you've changed. You haven't changed. You're the same opportunist you always have been, doing anything you have to do to get what you want, including using your son.

Diane: Don't you dare accuse me of hurting Kyle!

Jack: I will do a lot more than that if you don't tell me where he is now!

Diane: You go to hell! Ow! Ow! Let go!

Jack: You tell me where my son is right now, or I swear to God--

Diane: Or what?! What are you gonna do, Jack?

Jack: Diane and I had been fighting about Kyle ever since I found out Kyle was my son. This is nothing new, and certainly not reason enough for me to want to kill her.

Ronan: You hated her.

Jack: I love my son. Do you have any idea what this is doing to him? Yes, Diane and I certainly had our differences, but the only person I know that hated Diane enough to kill her is Victor Newman.

Michael: If we're finished here...

Ronan: We're not finished.

Michael: Mr. Newman is a very busy man. Arrest him, or let him go.

Ronan: Okay, if I find out you were at that park last night, that's not gonna be very good for you, not at all. So if you want to amend your statement, now would be the time.

[Victor remembering]

Diane: Isn't this a game you and Adam play? He sets you up for a crime you didn't commit, and then you set up him for one? It's his turn.

Victor: If you know about it, he must be in on it.

Diane: I was.

Victor: How the hell do I know it's true?

Diane: Because I'm here. I cared about you, Victor. At the very least, I believe you care about Kyle.

Victor: He's a very nice boy. He deserves a better mother, but he's a very nice boy.

Diane: Then help us both.

Victor: How the hell do I know what you're saying is true? There's no proof.

Diane: It's there under the rock.

Diane: Adam stole it from you and planted it there. Do you believe me now?

Victor: Yeah.

Diane: Then you'll help me.

Victor: Are you kidding me? Help you? Are you kidding me, or what? I will not help you.

Diane: You son of a--

Victor: If you find something in that park that proves that I was there, that's because my son Adam put it there in order to set me up. It wouldn't be the first time he has done that.

Ronan: (Chuckles)

Victor: Now will you excuse me?

Victoria: It just all fades away-- all the bad stuff-- when you're... when you're here with me like this.

Billy: And we're sober. (Chuckles)

Victoria: (Sighs) Do you ever think, what if?

Billy: (Sighs) What if, uh, I didn't screw things up with Lucy or Delia or us? Yeah, I think about that.

Victoria: No. What if we never met?

Billy: You would probably be better off.

Victoria: No. I would be so much less of a person. You know, when you're not here--

Billy: Hey, Vicki, don't--don't do that.

Victoria: I just want to hold on to this, though, forever. This... it would save me a lot of money on my electric bill.

Billy: (Laughs)

Victoria: (Sighs)

Billy: (Clears throat)

Victoria: You want some coffee?

Billy: Yeah, sure. Thank you.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Billy: Hey, Vick? I'm sorry.

Victoria: Thank you.

Billy: (Chuckles)

Billy: "Billy, with you, I can always be myself-- my goofiest self. That's the gift you give me. Happy birthday. I love you. Victoria."

Billy: (Clears throat)

(Cell phone alert beeps)

Jack: It's the boarding school. There's a picture attached of Timothy Bilton. (Sighs) It's Kyle.

Paul: Oh, thank God.

Jack: I-I gotta get out of here. I gotta get to Switzerland. I gotta book a flight.

Paul: Jack, hold on a second. Didn't Malloy say you can't leave town?

Jack: I gotta be with my son.

Paul: I understa--

Jack: He can't find out about Diane from anyone but me.

Paul: Wait here. Let me see what I can do.

Paul: Listen, I have a favor.

Ronan: What do you want?

Paul: Jack found his son. Let him go get him.

Adam: Buy you a drink?

Adam: A gift? For me? Dad, I didn't think you cared.

Victor: You made a grave mistake trying to use this to frame me. I'm gonna use it to prove that you murdered Diane.

Paul: Look, this could be you chance to show Nina and everybody else that you don't always put yourself and the case you're working on first.

Ronan: Right. I better jump right on it then.

Paul: Look, a little boy lost his mother.

Ronan: Yeah, I know. It happens.

Paul: You know, it's a pity they didn't give you a heart when they gave you a new liver.

Ronan: Wait. Jack hasn't been charged with anything. Legally, I can't stop him from leaving town.

Jack: I will call as soon as I find Kyle.

Paul: Okay. Hey--

Ronan: We've got a lot of work to do. There's a lot of pieces of this puzzle still missing.

Paul: (Sighs)

Cristina: Here's a few-- six others the victim sent texts to.

Ronan: They all say the same thing? "Meet me at the footbridge in the park." Thanks, "Buzz." Let me know if you get anything else off that phone.

Cristina: Mm-hmm.

Paul: So we got nine people called to the crime scene. Well, it couldn't be possible they're all working together.

Ronan: No. I think it's possible someone's messing with us. Cover it up.

Michael: (Laughs) Funny how she's already reduced to a couple of squiggles on a board. Diane could be... Diane. But she was my friend. (Voice breaking) And she did not... (Normal voice) She did not deserve... I want to see whoever did this found.

Ronan: Long list of suspects. Your client and his son-- they're at the top of my list.

Adam: (Sighs dramatically) This is getting old, don't you think? You trying to pin me for yet another murder? I at least-- I will hand it to you. This time, there's an actual body.

Victor: But there wasn't supposed to be. When Diane gave this back to me, she told me of your plan to fake her death, to blame me.

Adam: Well, that would have been a real waste of time, wouldn't it? But because you actually did kill her, I see that she must have given you your watch at the park. It's got a little dirt on it, I see. I don't know. Maybe it fell off, hit the ground in a struggle.

Victor: Or maybe someone put it back under a rock with Diane’s blood on it to make it look that way. When will you ever stop trying to outsmart me? Ain't gonna happen, Son. Maybe you'll have to go back to the joint to learn that lesson.

Victoria: Okay, here's your coffee-- black with four sugars. I have no idea how you can drink it this-- Billy? (Whispers) Billy.

Billy: I'm sorry, Baby. I am so sorry.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Adam: We could help one another.

Abby: I don't really think I need your help.

Ashley: You wanted to speak with us?

Ronan: Where were you guys last night?

Phyllis: Some people will stay say that we had the opportunity.

Nick: If we had alibis, it wouldn't matter.
