Episode # 9676 ~ Victoria Is Devastated by Billy's Decision

Kevin: We haven't heard anything, either.

Abby: (Scoffs) I knew the hearing about Daisy was today, and I have been so wrapped up in my own stuff, I didn't even call and wish them luck. I-I just tried his cell. It went straight to his voice mail.

Chloe: Bummer.

Abby: (Sighs) I was just hoping he was here or you guys knew what was going on.

Kevin: I wish we did.

Abby: I really didn't want to call Victoria, but I think I need to and make sure everything's okay... although how could it not be? It's not like the judge is gonna take Lucy and give her to some criminal. I-I'm sorry. I do realize that Daisy is your sister, but she is...

Kevin: She's crazy town. I know. Believe me.

Abby: (Sighs) All right, I'm gonna see if Vicki's got some scoop so we can all relax.

Chloe: Mm, Daniel. What's the word?

Kevin: How'd it go at the hearing?

Abby: Hey, what happened? Lucy got to go home with my sister, right?

Billy: (Grunts) (Toy rattles)

(Doorbell rings)

Billy: (Sighs)

Rafe: I, uh, I came to check on you. I can only imagine the hell that you're going through right now, Bud. Where's Victoria?

Victoria: Daddy? Dad!

Nick: Hey.

Victoria: Hey. I heard the news in the car. Where's Dad?

Nick: He's at the office straightening things out. I'm sorry I had to leave the hearing early, but I got a text about Dad saying that he-- you know what? Don't worry about it. It's not important anymore. How'd it go with Lucy?

Victoria: (Sighs)

Nick: Oh, Vick, I'm sorry.

Victoria: (Sighs) I lost her, Nick. (Sighs) I lost my baby.

Phyllis: Hey, Lucy, look. We're home. Yes. That's my tree. That's--look. Look. This is your home. I know you've been bounced around a lot, and that's been pretty tough. But you're here... where you belong.

Kay: Oh, Tucker. So much has happened since I last saw you. Too much. There was this news bulletin that Victor Newman had suffered a massive stroke and died the same day as his I.P.O. Thank God it was a false alarm. But anyway, it's just, you know, uh, another reminder there's no guarantee in life. Case in point, you know-- look at you lying there, and me being wishy-washy, second-guessing myself on every business decision. That's never been who I am. I don't operate that way... till now. (Sighs) And it's all your fault. It's all your fault.

Victor: So how far have you gotten with the S.E.C.? Oh, yeah? Based on the information you gave them, they have already launched an investigation into possible stock manipulation and fraud? Those are both felonies. Well, that's well done, Michael Baldwin. I have a feeling Adam Wilson and Diane Jenkins will be celebrating, thinking that they have pulled one over on me. Let's see how they feel tomorrow when the S.E.C. comes to town to... interview them. All right. Talk to you soon. Well done.

Adam: Newman stock keeps going up and up and up.

Diane: I'm glad you're pleased.

Adam: I'm pleased and rich, thanks to you.

Diane: Gee, what'd I do?

Adam: You know, Diane, I didn't know if I could trust you or not. You really pulled through.

Diane: It's nice to be appreciated.

Jack: Can I get a glass, please? You don't mind if I join you for a little bubbly, do you?

Adam: Would it matter if I did, Jack?

Jack: Well, how else am I going to toast you?

Adam: For what?

Jack: Thank you. Well, for your efforts today... with Victor. I made a real killing.

Adam: I have no idea what you're talking about.

Jack: Oh, come on. It's not like you to be so humble. Oh, you didn't tell him that you tipped me off?

Billy: (Sighs)

Rafe: I know there isn't a damn thing I can say to make this any better.

Billy: It's not your fault, Rafe. (Sighs) Leslie savaged our side, and the judge wouldn't let you do the same to Daisy. So what's next? What do you do now?

Rafe: Next?

Billy: There's gotta be some sort of a way that we can get Lucy back. We could-- what, file an appeal? Maybe Lauren will testify, something, because look, Man, I'm having a really hard time believing that someone as vicious as Daisy has any rights, whatsoever, much less the right to decide the fate of an innocent kid.

Rafe: Billy, I would do anything to tell you that there's still some kind of hope here and that we should keep on fighting, but with the-- with the birth mother still in the picture, and--and with the way that you went about getting Lucy in the first place--

Billy: No, no, no, no. I am tired of hearing about that, okay? I did something wrong. I admit it, but let's compare what I did. I paid a broker for the opportunity to bring an innocent, abandoned child into a home. And let's compare that to, uh, I don't know, kidnapping, torture, fraud, hey, possibly even murder, right?

Rafe: I know, and look, I am not trying to argue with you here, but truthfully, I don't think that there's any way in hell that the courts are ever gonna support you in this case, Billy.

Billy: That's it? We--we lose-- we lose our daughter. Is that it? Right. You know, everything was perfect. And now I've lost my daughter, and I'm pretty damn sure I'm about to lose my wife.

Victoria: You know what I think he was trying to do? I think he was trying to take away my pain. It worked for a little while-- the three of us together.

Nick: Yeah, I know how happy you were.

Victoria: I hate the way that he found a baby for us. But... I don't hate him for bringing Lucy into our lives. God, I shouldn't have unloaded on him like I did. I shouldn't have done that, but... being with him in that house where we've been raising our little girl... (Sighs)

Nick: Yeah, it's too much to handle. You had to get out of there. I understand.

Victoria: And Reed... oh, God, how am I supposed to explain this to Reed?

Nick: Vick, you're gonna find a way.

Victoria: I don't know how. He's just a little boy, you know? How is he supposed to understand something I don't even understand? When J.T. finds out, he's gonna... he's gonna want me to put him on the first plane back to D.C., and I can kiss any chance of shared custody good-bye. Oh.

Nick: (Sighs) All right, look. If...

Victoria: (Sighs)

Nick: If you need anything-- if you need a shoulder to cry on or a stiff drink or someplace to stay, just name it and it's yours, all right?

Victoria: Thank you. Thanks. I think Billy and I are gonna... we'll work it out. I just needed to get out of there for a while.

Nick: Yeah, of course.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Nick: I'm really sorry I had to leave the hearing. I wanted to be there for you, but I got a text saying that Dad had a stroke, so I had to take off.

Victoria: Yeah, I know. I heard on the news that the stock prices dropped because of rumors of Dad's death, but then the prices went back up when Dad assured the media that he was okay. How did all that happen?

Nick: It happened on purpose.

Adam: Your name hasn't come up today, Jack, so if Diane told you whatever it was she told you--

Jack: A-a-a-actually, I misspoke. Diane didn't tell me what you were up to. She sold me the information.

Adam: How very enterprising of you.

Diane: (Laughs) Jack is exaggerating, as usual. It really didn't happen that way.

Jack: Whatever you say, Sweetheart.

Diane: Jack!

Jack: But for the record, I'm sorry I ever doubted you. That information was worth every penny. And you--fantastic. What an amazing scheme. I wish I'd have thought of it myself. You've come a long way since that diary.

Adam: I was a different man then, Jack.

Jack: You learn well, "Grasshopper." You really stuck it to the old man this time.

Victor: Uh, Michael Baldwin, you got an update for me? Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah? Two extraordinarily large buys were made when the stock hit rock bottom? Well, good for them. Do you know who pulled the trigger? Any names? Uh-huh. Well, you stay on it, all right? And you can reach me by cell. It's a new phone, but the same number. I'm gonna go to Gloworm to pick up some-- some food, all right? Bye.

Kay: So, um, when you accused me of being an old lady who had lost her edge, were you trying to psych me out? Or was that your intent from the moment you made me responsible for McCall, Unlimited? Well, maybe... just maybe, uh, you had faith in my abilities. Did you know that I was going to agonize over every business detail? (Sighs) You know, last night, I, uh, I felt so at peace, and I knew exactly what I should do. Then I woke up this morning in a quandary all over again. (Chuckles) But no more. You put me in charge, and I am going to take charge. And by God, when you wake up, don't you dare give me any grief. Just wake up. Please?

Jack: Hear, hear.

(Glasses clink)

Diane: What's he gonna do?

Adam: What can he do? It's done.

Jack: Hello, Victor. Good to see you alive. We were a little worried about you. Well, I'm sure you're pleased as punch that Newman stock has a little bounce to it. Lord knows I am.

Victor: I should have known you were involved.

Jack: Involved? How do you mean? All I did was watch your stock and then seize the moment when stock price fell like a rock. I now own a good portion of Newman Enterprises, and you can't do a thing about it.

Victor: That's right. I can't.

Chloe: Lucy barely even knows who Phyllis is. How could they just hand her over like that?

Daniel: Well, trust me, the whole situation just makes me sick to my stomach.

Abby: Well, this isn't fair. What is wrong with that judge?

Daniel: Well, she couldn't get past the fact that Billy bought the baby from a broker and I guess after that, it was just all downhill, you know? A-and Mom's lawyer, she's pretty relentless-- tore us all apart basically.

Chloe: God, if someone took Delia away from me like that, I don't--

Kevin: Phyllis made a huge, huge mistake bringing Daisy into this. That girl is messed up, right? So what if she gets out of prison and decides that she wants Lucy for herself? She's the only one who has parental rights.

Abby: Being passed around like this when she's just a baby--what is that gonna do to Lucy?

Chloe: (Scoffs) Nothing good.

Kevin: And you know what? I've got plenty of issues with Billy, but he and Victoria, they're really good parents.

Chloe: Okay, well, if you want to blame someone, you blame Billy. He started all of this with his big secret, thinking that he could get away with something.

Abby: No, you know, if Phyllis hadn't pushed so hard, it would have stayed a secret. I say it's her fault.

Daniel: Yeah, I'm right there with you.

Lucy: (Fusses)

Phyllis: (Humming) (Knock on door)

Phyllis: (Gasps) Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. Who could that be? (Gasps)

Lucy: (Fusses)

Phyllis: Maybe it's your daddy.

Lucy: (Cries)

Nick: Well, you won. You happy?

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Yeah, I'm happy. I'm overjoyed. I'm overjoyed that Lucy is finally with family. I am happy. I'm not a monster. I'm not taking any pleasure in someone else's pain...

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Or the fact that my son refuses to speak to me. Come on, baby girl.

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Okay. (Humming) Look at, we have a teddy--

Nick: How long has she been like that?

Phyllis: Just a-a little bit. Just--I changed her. It doesn't help. I fed her. It doesn't help.

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Hi, Pretty. Hi.

Nick: Well, what'd you expect? She doesn't know who you are. She doesn't know this place. She needs her mother.

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Hi, Baby Girl. Oh, my good-- we're gonna have so much fun. We're gonna have so much fun.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Billy: You came home.

Victoria: Reed will be home soon.

Billy: Well, don't worry. I packed my bags.

Victoria: You're leaving?

Billy: Yeah, well, I would have left earlier, except, uh, Rafe came by, and... (Clears throat) Well, uh, anyway, I still have a lot of stuff left in the closets. I'll make arrangements to pick 'em up later. I don't really... want to have to come back, but, uh, there's a lot of stuff.

Victoria: Where are you gonna go? Hmm?

Billy: Uh, the club? Maybe Jack's? I-I don't know. I mean, does it really matter?

Victoria: No, no, I guess it really doesn't matter. No. Mnh-mnh.

Billy: Well, okay. I will get the hell out of your way then.

Nick: Hey, Supergirl. How was camp?

Summer: Fun.

Nick: Good. Good, good, good. (Groans)

Phyllis: Hey. I have something to tell you. Um... Lucy is going to be living with us for a while. Isn't that neat?

Summer: Lucy belongs to Aunt Victoria and Uncle Billy.

Phyllis: Mnh, mnh, mnh. No, she doesn't. She doesn't. She belongs to us. Um, Lucy is Daniel's daughter.

Summer: If she belongs to Daniel, why isn't she living with him?

Phyllis: You know what? Um... honestly, because Daniel can't take care of her right now. So we're just-- we're just helpin' him out.

Summer: You're my mommy!

Phyllis: Of course I'm your mommy. That's so silly. I'll always be your mommy. But Lucy is... she's just gonna hang out with us and-- and--and live here, and we're gonna play games, and we're gonna have a lot of fun. You'll see, a lot of fun. (Chuckles)

Kay: Well, I am going to be leaving now, my darling. I have some people that I have to see. I've made decisions, and I'm moving on them. I don't know if you agree or disagree, but... unless you get up and out of this bed and stop me... don't say I never gave you the chance.

Jack: Oh, Dear. Leaving so soon?

Victor: By the way, Jack, are you aware of the laws pertaining to stock manipulation and fraud? I don't think you are. But the securities exchange commission is, you know. That's what they do. They watch over this kind of stuff. Michael Baldwin is talking to them right now in Washington D.C. and tomorrow, they're gonna come have a talk with me about what happened today.

Jack: Ooh.

Diane: More champagne?

Jack: Ooh, the good stuff this time.

Adam: We didn't order that.

Victor: It's my treat. I know you'd like to celebrate how you pulled one over on me. Drink up fast. Tomorrow will be a day of reckoning.

Abby: Wait, who are we mad at now?

Daniel: Billy. (Clears throat)

Abby: Oh.

Chloe: You know, the one good thing about this hearing is that it's gonna make it a lot easier to get sole custody of Delia.

Kevin: After today, you're still thinking about that?

Chloe: Uh--

Kevin: Talk about kicking a guy when he's down.

Chloe: I-I'm sorry. He's irresponsible and reckless. Cordelia is my daughter, and I'm gonna do what's best for her, and if you don't like that, then I'm sorry. That's just too bad.

Kevin: Sorry about that.

Daniel: Hey, you know what? Mom's decision is causing problems for everyone.

Kevin: Phyllis isn't responsible for Chloe overreacting.

Daniel: (Sighs) (Chuckles)

Abby: I'm so sorry for the way things went down. I know this isn't what you wanted for Lucy, and I know this is gonna screw things up for you and your mom.

Daniel: Yeah, it is. Thank you for understanding. And I also... I wanted to apologize to you because I should have been up front with you and honest about Lucy the minute I knew. Maybe if I had, things would have been different between you and me.

Abby: I've gotta call Victoria. Do you mind?

Daniel: Mm, I'll get a refill. (Clears throat)

(Cell phone rings)

Victoria: Hello?

Abby: Hey, it's me.

Victoria: Hey. You heard.

Abby: I feel so bad for you and Billy. Is there anything I can do? Do you want me to come over?

Victoria: No, I-- listen, I really-- I appreciate it, but, um, I... I can't really talk right now, okay? I-I'll talk to you later. Bye.

Billy: I'm goin'.

Billy: Look, Vicki, I...

Victoria: Yeah?

Billy: Bye.

Victoria: (Whispers) Bye.

Phyllis: (Sighs) What? (Scoffs)

Nick: I'm just trying to figure out what you're gettin' out of all this. You're wrecking so many people's lives. I mean, even Summer's upset.

Phyllis: Summer will be fine. Once she spends time with Lucy, she'll be fine. She'll adjust.

Nick: Just keep tellin' yourself that this is no big problem.

Phyllis: I know how upsetting this has been for Daniel and Billy and Victoria. I mean, Lauren and Michael won't even talk to me. They don't want to be my friend anymore. I have lost everyone important in my life because I'm doing the right thing for my family.

Nick: You can't be surprised that this is happening. You teamed up with a freakin' psycho who kidnapped Lauren and then tried to kill her.

Phyllis: My--they tried to kill me, too. Does that matter? But I'm not gonna-- I'm not gonna make that baby responsible for her mother's sins. That baby deserves to be loved and cared for.

Nick: She had all that with Billy and Victoria, her parents.

Phyllis: Oh, I'm not apologizing for this, Nick. This is not about Billy or Victoria. This is about my son and Lucy. That's who this is about. And I don't regret what I did at all. And you know what? By the way, Ashley was a fantastic mother-- amazing. Why'd you take Faith away from her? Hmm? Hmm? Yeah, you don't have an answer for me. If this were Noah, and it were his baby, uh, I-I know you. I know you. You would never, ever allow that baby to be adopted by another family, because you'd know that your son would want to raise it in the future. I know you. Don't tell me anything different.

Adam: So let's toast to Newman Enterprises. May it live long and prosper. May its share prices rocket into the stratosphere.

Jack: Well, ordinarily, I'd disagree with you just on principle, but when you're right, you're right. (Glasses clink)

Adam: Which is most of the time.

Jack: I wouldn't push it.

Diane: Aren't you fellas worried about the S.E.C.?

Adam: The S.E., who? No.

Jack: No, me, neither.

Diane: Wait, how can you be so cavalier about this? We all know how Victor operates. (Singsong voice) He is not gonna let us get away with this.

Victor: Hi, Sweetheart. I thought you might be here.

Abby: Oh, you're okay. Oh.

Victor: Yes, of course I'm okay.

Abby: Well, I had to see it with my own eyes. When the radio said you had been rushed to the hospital, I almost lost it. And then they said you were fine. It was a mistake.

Victor: Mm-hmm. It was not a mistake. It was a lie that did terrible damage.

Abby: A-a lie? Who would lie about you having a stroke? That is so cruel.

Nick: Well, when you're rich and powerful, everyone wants to bring you down.

Victor: (Sighs) You got that right.

Abby: Have you heard from Victoria? Is she okay? Well, I don't know what I'm saying. Of course she's not okay. But have you heard from her?

Nick: I just went by her place. She's not doing great.

Victor: What happened with Victoria?

Nick: Apparently, the judge, in her infinite stupidity, decided that Daisy does, in fact, have rights. No one else does, but Daisy does.

Victor: Are you telling me the judge took Lucy away from Victoria and gave her to that kidnapper?

Nick: Well, because Phyllis worked out a deal to pay for her legal fees, guess who was awarded custody of Lucy while Daisy's in jail?

Victor: Are you serious?

Nick: Yeah, I just went by Phyllis' place. I think she just realized what she's taken on.

Abby: I mean, you really didn't know about any of this?

Victor: (Sighs) I had no idea. I knew of the hearing. Didn't know anything about the outcome.

Nick: Don't feel bad, Dad. I mean, I didn't find out about it until afterwards, either.

Victor: I do feel bad, but not as bad as the people are gonna feel who messed with my company. That hoax prevented me from being with my daughter who needed me the most.

Victoria: Hello!

Reed: Hi.

Victoria: Did you have fun hanging out with Charlie?

Reed: Yeah.

Victoria: Have fun playin' with your brand-new truck? (Chuckles)

Reed: (Chuckles) It's so quiet. Where's Lucy?

Victoria: (Sighs) Baby, come here for a second. Let me hug you. (Sighs) Um, Lucy's not gonna be living with us anymore. Um, you see, the thing is, she was just staying with us for a while because her mom and dad couldn't take care of her, but they found someone to help them, so... Lucy went to live with her first family.

Reed: Is she ever coming back?

Victoria: No, Baby. She's not gonna come back. But... the good news is that she will always be happy and healthy and--and she's with people who love her and--and will take care of her always.

Reed: Yeah. Where's Billy?

Victoria: (Sighs)

Abby: (Sighs) Tucker, it's, uh, it's me. It's Abby. I don't know if you can hear me. Some really, really terrible things happened today, and they, uh, they all started because of lies. (Sighs) I, uh, I'm--so, yeah, that's, uh, that's why I'm here. I, uh... I need you to know something. It was me. I did this. I ran you down. I-I didn't mean for it to happen. I'm so sorry. I am so sorry. I need-- I want you to get better, okay? Just-- can you get better? Please. Please... get... better.

Adam: Dead soldier. Let's drink up, and then we'll get going.

Diane: I'm ready now, actually.

Jack: Well, w-we haven't finished our bubbly.

Adam: Knock yourself out, Jack.

Diane: Okay, let's just get this over with now. I blabbed to Jack about your little plan. You must be furious. Aren't you? D-do you have anything to say?

Adam: Well played.

Kay: Aha.

Jack: Katherine, what a nice surprise running into you.

Kay: Well, it certainly isn't accidental. I've had to track you down, which wasn't at all easy.

Jack: Well, I'm flattered. What can I do for you?

Kay: I have, uh, come to a decision about Jabot.

Jack: Oh?

Kay: You're hired. I want you as my new C.E.O.

Jack: Katherine, that-- that--that is wonderful news. Thank--thank you, and you will not regret putting your faith in me.

Kay: I will have new contracts sent to you by day's end tomorrow.

Jack: Well--well, please. Sit--sit down. (Stammers) We'll order you some sparkling cider.

Kay: Darling, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't have the time. Now, Jack, look at me. Enjoy. Enjoy.

Jack: Wow.

Nick: (Sighs) Rough day.

Daniel: Yep.

Nick: (Sighs) Look, I'm not any happier with your mother right now than you are. But this has been rough on her, too. I mean, this is a hell of an adjustment for her and for Summer, and it looks like it's gonna be one she's gonna have to make all on her own.

Daniel: Well, maybe she should have thought about that before she alienated herself from half the town.

Nick: You guys were so close. I really don't like seeing you like this.

Daniel: You know what, Nick? I'm an adult. I don't need my mother. Lucy--Lucy's a baby, and she does, and her mother is Victoria, so if you want to feel sorry for someone, feel sorry for them.

Lucy: (Crying)

Phyllis: Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no. Hey.

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: No, Baby.

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh. Ohh. We're gonna have fun together. Oh, I know. I know. We're gonna have fun together, just you and me.

Lucy: (Cries)

Phyllis: Yeah, we're gonna have so much fun.

Lucy: (Cries)

Chloe: Caramel popcorn. That's your favorite, right?

Kevin: Is that from the place on Broad Street that I took you to?

Chloe: Mm-hmm.

Kevin: You went all the way over to Lake Geneva to-- wow.

Chloe: Well, if I went across the street, it would have been half-assed, right?

Kevin: Apology accepted.

Chloe: Thank you. And I promise to think about what you said-- that Billy is not the worst father in the entire world. (Sighs)

Kevin: Very sweet.

Chloe: I try.

Kevin: (Chuckles)

Billy: Can I get a tequila, please? Hey, uh, just leave the bottle. Thank you.

Victoria: Do you know what I would love to do right now?

Reed: What?

Victoria: I would love to pop some popcorn with you and sit on the couch and just watch a movie. That sound good to you?

(Doorbell rings)

Reed: It's Grandpa!

Victor: Well, look who's there! Look who's there. My goodness. How are you, huh?

Reed: Good.

Victor: Everything cool? Yeah? Okay.

Victoria: Hey, Reed, why don't you go wash your hands before we make the popcorn, okay?

Victor: Okay.

Victoria: Okay.

Victor: There we go.

Victoria: Daddy, I'm sorry, but I... I cannot bear an "I told you so" right now.

Victor: That is not why I'm here. (Sighs)

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Victoria: Billy moved out.

Chloe: I don't believe he left you at a time like this.

Michael: Well, there's a weak link somewhere.

Victor: This time, I want to make sure that Adam Wilson goes down.

Adam: I'm in the clear with the S.E.C. You and Jack? Not so much.
