Episode # 9649 ~ Nikki Fights for Sobriety
Provided By Suzanne
Proofread By Emma
Tucker: Good day, Mrs. Newman... or not.
Diane: You seem cheerful enough for the both of us.
Tucker: Listen... (Sighs) I've wanted to tell you for some time now that, um, I do regret the way I handled things when you came to town.
Diane: Oh. Do you mean when you hired me and promptly fired me after we... well, I assume you remember.
Tucker: Victor's a lucky man.
Diane: Yes, Victor is a lucky man. I think I'll go remind him of that.
Tucker: Good.
Ashley: Okay, this is yours. You're gonna need the energy. You've been making phone calls all morning.
Tucker: Uh, I still have a lot of calls to make yet.
Ashley: Oh, that's okay. I have a lot of details I could check up on.
Tucker: For what?
Ashley: (Laughs sarcastically) That's so funny.
Tucker: (Laughs)
Ashley: It's too late for you to back out. You're in too deep. Sorry. You and I--we have a date at a fountain in the park. Right?
Abby: (Groans)
Jack: You okay? You've been kind of quiet this morning.
Traci: (Sniffles) I had some trouble sleeping.
Jack: Because of Abby? Listen, if she was as angry as you said she was, she wasn't gonna come back here. She's probably just pouting at home.
Traci: Jack, Abby is not just "Pouting." That poor thing-- she thinks that she's been betrayed by everyone who loves her. That's a very sad and lonely place to be. I think that even you can understand that.
Jack: Okay, okay. I'm--I'm sorry. You're right. I shouldn't have been flip.
Traci: When I was here the last time, I tried to warn you. We talked about this. I said, please don't play games with your nieces and business. Did you listen to me?
Jack: I have always acted in the best interests of this family.
Traci: Seriously? Manipulating, exploiting, withholding information? Who does that help? More importantly, who does that hurt?
Abby: (Scoffs) (Grunting) Dude, what the hell?
Man: Destruction of public property, public intoxication.
Abby: I am not drunk. I'm not drunk. I'm hung-over. (Scoffs) God. (Scoffs) Dude. (Sighs) God, okay. Jeez. (Scoffs)
Nikki: Oh, Katherine. Did you just come from a meeting?
Kay: Uh, yes, I, um, needed a little serenity after dealing with Tucker last evening. I'm glad to see you are really going to A.A. meetings. You know, especially since you and Victor...
Nikki: Yes, well...
Kay: Uh, I don't mind going to another meeting if you need company.
Nikki: Oh, Katherine, no, I'm fine, thank you. I-I'll--I'll talk to you later.
Kay: Mm-hmm. Take care.
Diane: Good. I was hoping you'd be here. We didn't really get to finish our discussion last night.
Victor: Um, yeah. I don't think there's anything left to say, Diane.
Diane: Regardless of your connection to Nikki, I'm convinced we can make this marriage... mutually beneficial. In fact, I'm devoted to proving that to you. Michael. Are you here about the public offering?
Victor: Michael brought me the annulment papers I had asked for. Thank you for drawing up these papers so quickly.
Michael: And your copy.
Diane: Isn't this a little premature?
Victor: You know, you will find that this settlement is far more generous than our prenup was.
Michael: And then there's the matter of the trust fund that's already been established for Kyle.
Diane: That isn't the issue.
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Diane: (Sighs) Victor, if we could just talk about this--alone...
Victor: Look at this. All we need is our two signatures, and then we can end this marriage as cleanly and politely as we entered upon it.
(Cell phone alert chimes)
Victor: Excuse me.
Michael: Problem?
Victor: My goodness, yes. We need to go.
Diane: (Quietly) Talk him out of this.
Michael: (Quietly) That's not gonna happen. Take it.
Diane: I'm not taking it.
Michael: Take it.
Diane: I'm not taking it!
Michael: Take it now!
Abby: (Sighs)
Kent: "Heiress," you trashed your mother's wedding site. What's up with that?
Man: Put it away--now!
Abby: Uh, inside voice, please.
Kent: Don't-- don't fix your makeup. Better for the gossip sites.
Jack: You, I can see to it no sponsor ever pays you another dime. Get outta here.
Kent: I need footage of the wedding site. But ratings gold, heiress-- pure genius.
Abby: Did you finally get arrested, too, Uncle Jack?
Jack: I got a call that you'd been picked up. Now I'm gonna try to get you out of here before your mother even finds out what you've done.
Tucker: I appreciate the support. Thanks a lot. All right, then. Well, I didn't think you'd come after last night.
Kay: Oh, that little nasty little game? Invoking John Abbott's name, threatening to have Chancellor, um, buy up Newman stock? Over my dead body.
Tucker: Obviously not. It's already done, Katherine. I've been on the phone with the board members all morning. They understand the benefits of this arrangement. Chancellor buys the stock, sells it back to me at a loss. Chancellor gets a tax write-off, and I get a big piece of Newman.
Kay: That is my company, and that is my board! No matter how much interest in Chancellor you stole from me.
Tucker: I think your infatuation with Victor is clouding your judgment.
Kay: (Scoffs)
Tucker: Your board understands that this deal is a win-win, and you've lost, Katherine, whether you admit it or not.
Ashley: Hi, this is Ashley Abbott. I need to report vandalism at my wedding site in the park. What do you mean, you've already caught the-- who would do such a thing? Oh, my God. (Sighs)
Kay: Why on God's green earth cannot Ashley see it? As smart as she is, she continues to believe that you are one decent human being.
Tucker: I gave you fair warning of my intentions. The truth is, you were so resistant to the idea, I felt obligated to push on. Hell, I could have got a bunch of Newman shares from Jack, but this way seemed cleaner.
Kay: Or was it just more entertaining for you to beat me?
(Door opens)
Tucker: You know why you lose? Because it turns your stomach to admit that I might know what I'm doing.
Kay: (Scoffs) Stop it.
Tucker: You're stubborn, and you're old, and you're sentimental, and that's why you'll keep losing against me until you finally give up the ghost.
(Cell phone rings)
Tucker: Hey, miss me already?
Ashley: Hi. Could you please meet me down at the police station?
Tucker: What happened?
Ashley: Abby. What else?
Tucker: I'll be there as soon as I can. Don't hang up. You think about what I said. Tell me what happened.
Traci: Katherine, are you all right?
Jack: Abby, the cops are tired of your antics. They're trying to find a way to make something bigger stick. Listen to me. You and I are going to have to convince them that you are deeply, deeply sorry, and that from this day, you will never so much as put a plastic bottle in anything but a recycling bin. Do you understand? Abby? Abby, do we have a deal?
Abby: A deal? You mean like the deal you tried to make with Tucker? Offering him my dad's shares of Newman-- the ones I got when Colleen died in that lake? You are a traitor, Uncle Jack, and a liar. You do business with a pig, so you're no better. It is like this entire family has "Tucker-itis." He's sucked you all in, and frankly, it makes me sick. (Gasps) (Scoffs)
Diane: "Sufficient monetary consideration." "Sufficient" was supposed to mean billions. Now what?
Nick: (Sighs) Can I get a water, please? Hey.
Diane: Hello.
Nick: I was rude to you yesterday, and I apologize for that.
Diane: You have a lot on your plate.
Nick: Thank you. Yeah. So I'm gonna go beat up a punching bag for a while. You okay?
Diane: Never better. Have a good workout.
Nick: Thanks.
Nikki: My name is Nikki, and I-- I'm an alcoholic.
All: Hi, Nikki.
Nikki: This is my fourth day without a drink. Wow. (Sighs) Saying that out loud is... well, you all know. You know what that feels like. It's, um, shame, I guess. But you have to say it out loud to make it real. I get that. As for why I dove back into the bottle... I have made nothing but bad choices for a while. But that's over now. I've walked away from those situations, just like I'm walking away from the alcohol now.
Michael: Tucker, Ashley's handling things. Let's let her do that, shall we?
Tucker: What are you doin', Newman?
Victor: What business is that of yours, Tucker? I got a call that Abby had been arrested. I think Ashley is handling it very well right now.
Abby: (Scoffs) You think this is a good idea-- assault in a police station?
Ashley: You don't think those officers want to do the exact same thing I just did? They look at you, and they see a selfish, spoiled, self-indulgent little brat. You're not amusing anymore, Abby. You're not even interesting. What you are is embarrassing. And, you know, the really sad thing is, I'm getting used to being ashamed of you. Now you listen to me. I'm marrying him, and there's not one damn thing you can do to stop it. Do you understand me? Oh, God, I just had to get away from her. I was just about to shake her senseless.
Michael: Excuse me, all right?
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Tucker: All right, listen, the park will be taken care of. Don't worry about it.
Ashley: You didn't see what she did. It was so incredibly insulting. You have no idea.
Jack: Listen to me. The police want to hit her with more than a misdemeanor.
Victor: Let her suffer the consequences of her actions.
Jack: Yeah, great idea. Let her sit in jail like Victoria did on her wedding day.
Victor: What are you doing here?
Ashley: Please do not make this about your stupid war!
Jack: I just hate what she's doing to you.
Ashley: Believe me, so do I. Go ahead, Jack. Just call Traci, would you? Tell her what happened.
Michael: You have successfully driven your mother around the bend and back. Listen to me. The thing about this is, both sides of your family have been beaten up lately. They really can't take much more, because believe it or not, some parents live and die for their kids, even the ones who are a pain in the ass.
Abby: Do you understand that I get slapped and he gets goo-goo eyes? I honestly have no idea how to get through to my mom, how to show her what a sleazeball he is.
Michael: Then maybe it's time to stop trying.
Abby: So--so what? I just--I just give up? (Stammers) I'm just gonna watch my mom ruin her life? Yeah, maybe that's all there is left to do.
Deacon: Some of you guys remember a couple months ago when I was up here, and I was, um, I-I was freakin' out about losing this really great woman, and it was pretty much because I had been a liar and a... I'd been a jerk, and about a million other things that the program frowns upon. Really, what I was doing was, uh, I-I was just up here covering my ass. But what I should have been doing was coming clean with her. Step number 4, right? Makin' amends. And maybe... if I had had the guts to do that, she wouldn't hate me now. And more importantly, she wouldn't have gone through a hell that she didn't deserve.
Kay: Oh, Jack, have you got a moment?
Jack: I'm just gettin' a cup of coffee, all right?
Kay: This won't take long. Please. Did you, uh, really offer Tucker your Newman shares?
Jack: I really don't have time for this right now.
Kay: No, no, wait, wait, wait. It's my understanding he refused. But should he change his mind, and he probably will, I hope you'll be smart enough to tell him to take a hike.
Jack: Now why would I do that?
Kay: Because it's an awful idea. Putting a part of Newman in Tucker's hands?
Jack: Even if it means getting Jabot back? Seems to me it's a brilliant idea...
Kay: (Sighs)
Jack: If I do say so myself.
Kay: Jack, Jack, promise me you won't do it.
Jack: You have had countless opportunities...
Kay: Oh, come on.
Jack: To hand me Jabot. You've passed on all of them. Now I'm gonna do whatever it takes.
Kay: See, this is exactly why I refused. You have repeatedly compromised yourself and Jabot over a sentimental attachment to a company.
Jack: To a company my father founded.
Kay: Oh, Jack.
Jack: To a company I've spent half my life working on. Look, this isn't about me. This isn't about Tucker. This isn't about Jabot. This is about your compulsive need to protect poor "Wittle" Victor. I have made it perfectly clear that Victor Newman and Newman Enterprises can fall off the face of the earth after this I.P.O. for all I care, as long as I get Jabot back.
Kay: And you'll make a deal with the devil to get it.
Deacon: Nikki, please stop.
Nikki: (Scoffs)
Deacon: Hey, I need to say something to you. I know I acted like a piece garbage, and I know I'm a son of a bitch, but the only time that I don't regret it is when I'm with you. Look, I know. To hell with me, right?
Nikki: Oh, you got that right.
Deacon: Look, I'm not-- I'm not trying to get you to forgive me.
Nikki: I regret every moment in your presence. Every bit of affection or kindness that I gave you was wasted on you. I am this close to getting my life back together, and I'm not gonna let you ruin it.
Victor: (Sighs heavily)
Nick: Hey, Dad.
Victor: Hey, Son.
Nick: Gonna go do a couple rounds with the heavy bag?
Victor: Yeah. Sounds like a hell of an idea right now.
Nick: Anything goin' on?
Victor: Um, I'm dissolving my marriage to Diane.
Nick: Wow. I saw her earlier. She didn't mention that.
Victor: Why would she?
Nick: How about because you're my dad?
Victor: She's embarrassed and humiliated, that's all. (Sighs heavily) By the way, um... I'm kind of reconnecting with... your mother.
Nick: I guess we should have seen that coming.
Victor: Yeah. Diane is not a... not a good fit for our family.
Diane: Now you are lovely. The question is, will I ever get to wear you for anyone?
(Camera shutter clicks)
Abby: (Sighs)
Man: Wait here.
(Cell phone alert chimes)
Abby: "Hello, Tucker. I enjoyed our talk. Would love to take you up on your offer." (Sighs) The day before your wedding. You are so unbelievable.
Ashley: Okay, so... your father thinks that you should sit in a cell and stew for a while, and frankly, so do I. But Tucker wants to get you out of this mess.
Tucker: You know, honestly, I don't think we need to be the perfect blended family. But I'd like to shelve this for now so your mother can have a couple of days of happiness. I'll talk to the cop, see if I can get you out of this mess. Then we can all go back to our corners. If you want to keep on hatin' me after that, you go right ahead.
Abby: Look, I really hate what I did, okay? And I don't blame you guys if you hate me, too.
Ashley: Okay, go ahead and see what you can do. Thank you.
Tucker: I'm on it.
Abby: Thank you, Mom.
Ashley: You should be thanking Tucker, but I know you wouldn't do that. Catch a cab. I've got a party to get ready for.
Abby: "Diane, I am... intrigued."
Diane: Here to twist the knife, Traitor?
Michael: Victor's my boss. We both know what he's like. There are no real surprises here. Where's the Ming plate?
Diane: We both know what I'm like. There are no real surprises here.
Michael: (Chuckles)
Diane: (Chuckles) You came to get the papers signed, didn't you?
Michael: Technically, yes. But I'm-- I'm really here as a... friend. And if you are hoping to change Victor's mind...
Diane: Who says that's for Victor?
Michael: Mm, who then? Jack? Or the man you say you still have feelings for? This isn't you. Face it, Buddy. You struck out. Being here is toxic for you. And if it's toxic for you, it will be toxic for Kyle, too, eventually.
Diane: What are you saying?
Michael: Genoa City does not work for you, Diane.
Nikki: (Sighs)
Nikki: (Sighs)
Nikki: Sorry about that, grass. Better you than me.
Deacon: I could have sworn I just heard the grass say, "Ahh."
Nikki: I thought I told you to leave me alone.
Deacon: You know, you were always pretty amazing, but I gotta tell you--
Nikki: You know, I don't care what you think-- if I'm amazing, if I'm not amazing. I only have enough energy to worry about myself, so that's what I'm doing. I'm moving on. I'm turning four days into five.
Deacon: You will, too.
Nikki: All right, listen, this is the last thing I have to say, and I'm not repeating myself, because I don't want to waste another second on you. So I accept your amends.
Traci: Jack... (Sighs) Why do you dislike Tucker? I mean, o-other than the--the automatic alpha male competition thing.
Jack: What are you really asking me?
Traci: I'm starting to wonder. Maybe Abby's right about him after all.
Tucker: (Sighs)
Ashley: Come here, groom-to-be.
Tucker: You know what?
Ashley: Hmm?
Tucker: You have to stop lookin' so damn beautiful. Everyone's gonna say I don't deserve you.
Ashley: I don't care what anyone says-- ever.
Tucker: You know, Jenni's gonna be over at the park tonight with a crew.
Ashley: Mm-hmm.
Tucker: She's gonna make everything just the way it was, and she said with a few new surprises.
Ashley: Hmm.
Tucker: Unless you want to change locations.
Ashley: I don't care where we say our vows. I don't care. I don't care who's there to see them and who's not, okay? What happened today only proves to me how right this marriage is and how damn lucky I am to have you in my life.
Tucker: Well, you're sweet.
Ashley: It's true.
Tucker: But you know something?
Ashley: What?
Tucker: We both talk a good game, 'cause we know there are a few faces that would be nice to see when we come walkin' down that aisle.
Ashley: But we won't see them. And guess what? It's gonna be perfect anyway.
Tucker: That's sweet.
Traci: (Sighs)
Kay: Well, maybe I, uh, should have a go, uh, or a couple of rounds at least, with that heavy bag.
Victor: (Sighs) (Chuckles)
Kay: (Clears throat)
Victor: Mm. (Sighs) Tucker again? Offspring can have that effect, can't they?
Kay: He went around me, Victor.
Victor: Mm.
Kay: He went to, uh, the board, got an approval at a move that I categorically rejected.
Victor: And it involves Newman Enterprises?
Kay: He's going to take all of Chancellor's liquid capital, use it to buy as much of Newman stock as he possibly can...
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Kay: Have Chancellor turn around, sell it to him at a loss. He's exploiting my company to take advantage of my friend, and I will not allow it. I--damn it, Victor. I-I will-- he cannot get away with this. I will not allow it.
Victor: I appreciate your feelings, Katherine.
Nick: Thanks for having a date with me at the park. It's gonna be fun.
Summer: Daddy, look. Grandma!
Nick: Let's let them finish, all right?
Deacon: You really forgive me?
Nikki: For my own health, I have to. But I will never look at you the way I did before. I think you're a rotten human being. I think... I think that you're dark, and you're an opportunist.
Deacon: I can't deny any of that, now can I? But I think maybe I'm just a little less rotten for having known you. (Sighs) I want to ask you something-- um, do you think that I could just give you a hug? Just kind of like a good-bye thing, just kind of a good riddance-type thing?
Nikki: (Sighs) You really-- you really are awful, you know that?
Nick: Come on. Let's go get some ice cream. I saw that ice cream truck over there, huh?
Summer: Yeah!
Victor: You and I know that Tucker is a piece of work.
Kay: Mm.
Victor: Now he attacks me and he goes over your head. I'm sorry that he's doing this to you.
Kay: (Chuckles) Oh, he loves sticking it to us both.
Victor: Oh, yeah, I know.
Kay: That grin on his face, that--gloating and saying that I'm too old to fight back?
Victor: Sweetheart, he's underestimating you. That's the worst mistake he'll ever make.
Kay: He warned me last night that he would go to the board. I could have easily gone to them myself.
Victor: Sure.
Kay: I had no idea that he would act so--so quickly. I mean... maybe I was too slow.
Victor: That's nonsense.
Kay: No, I-I-I-I-I-I can admit it. I-I was slow last night, but I'll never be again. He's given me back the taste for blood. Victor, God, I can't tell you how much I would like to crush him.
Victor: I like that spirit. So do I.
Kay: Good. And we will. I mean, the two of us, we-- we're gonna grind Tucker McCall right into the dirt.
Victor: Katherine, you and I together-- no one will stand up against us, no one.
Kay: Thank you.
(Rubs Victor's hand)
Traci: You look so beautiful.
Ashley: So do you. I love your haircut.
Traci: Thank you.
Ashley: So what do you all say? Why don't we drink a lot of drinks and eat some great food and--
Jack: Uh, listen, uh, we're set up with the first round of champagne. Maybe you could help me pick the next vintage?
Traci: Oh, sure. Be right back.
Ashley: Thanks.
Jack: I'm curious-- what you said earlier about Tucker-- um, God knows I don't trust him, but for you to doubt him...
Traci: (Sighs) I-I saw him earlier with Katherine. Abby had mentioned to me that there was some kind of problem between the two of them. Oh, Jack, if you had been there and seen the way he looked at her. It was--it was so-- it was cold and cruel. And... (Sighs) Is that the kind of man that Ashley should spend the rest of her life with? Someone that could have those kinds of feelings...
(Champagne cork pops)
Ashley: Whoo!
Traci: For his own mother?
Ashley: (Laughs) I love that sound. (Laughs)
Traci: (Laughs)
Ashley: Here's to the first toast of the evening.
Tucker: I'd like to make it, if you don't mind.
Ashley: Oh, okay. It better be good, though.
Traci: (Chuckles)
Tucker: Um...
Michael: I really have missed you. If you do leave town, stay in touch this time.
Diane: How did I miss a text? (Sighs) From Tucker. "Diane, I'm intrigued. Let's talk more."
Abby's voice: "Let's talk more. Meet me at the Abbott cabin tonight to discuss future endeavors."
Abby: So, Mom, Tucker, I just came to celebrate with you guys if... if you'll have me.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Deacon: Nikk, I got us a table.
Victor: So you're having dinner with him?
Diane: Careful up there. You're gonna drive yourself right off the road.
Ashley: Pull over!
Abby: Mnh-mnh. No.
Ashley: Do you hear me? Pull this car over right now!
