Deacon: Mm.
Nikki: Mwah. Hi.
Deacon: Hi, yourself. Didn't think I was gonna see you till after work.
Nikki: Well, I just thought I'd check in with you about dinner plans for later.
Deacon: (Inhales sharply) Ooh, well, I think the plan is, after I finish my shift, I'm gonna take you wherever you want to go.
Nikki: Oh, a very well thought-out plan it is.
Paul: Nikki.
Nikki: Hi.
Paul: I need to talk to you. It's urgent.
Nikki: Um, I-I'll be right back.
Deacon: So what did my old friend Paul have to say? Are you okay?
Nikki: She's back.
Meggie: Ahh. (Sighs)
Victor: Diane, do you have any idea where we put those drawings? Oh, idea (sighs)
Diane: Did you call for me?
Victor: Yeah. I was looking for the drawings, but here they are.
Diane: I was hoping you'd get to those. You need to sign off on the second-floor elevations before we go to blueprint.
Victor: You going somewhere?
Diane: Yeah, uh, Nick picked up the kids from school. I'm just gonna go collect Kyle.
Victor: Okay. And before you go, um... (Sighs) There's something I'd like to discuss with you. I want you and Kyle to move in with me.
Amy: Hey, Guys.
Kyle: Hey.
Nick: Hey. Hey, can you stay a little longer? Uh, I promised the kids that we'd, uh, go skating.
Amy: No problem at all. I'll go check on Faith.
Nick: All right, thanks.
Amy: Okay.
Kyle: You said you have skate, right?
Nick: Do I have skates? Come on, Man. I got a stick, too. It’s out to be on. Here we go. Go on look at that. Here you go, Darlin' here's your stuff. Why don't you go up and get some warmer socks for those okay? Oh, here's my stuff. Mine oh, yeah.
Kyle: (Laughs) Are those figure skates? (Chuckles) Plus, that tape job?
Nick: Not so good?
Kyle: No, heel to toe, Dude. Heel to toe. I got some tape in my bag. I'll show you how to do it so you won't look like a dweeb out there on the ice.
Nick: You're savin' my life. Ok
Kyle: Hey, someone's gotta.
Nick: All right.
Phillip: Thanks, Doc.
Kay: All right. All right. All right. What did Nate say?
Phillip: Uh, mainly he just gave me a list of symptoms to look out for now that Chance-- uh, the patient-- has been released from the hospital, and--and, uh, severe abdominal pain is one thing to look for.
Kay: Are there any security instructions that--
Chris: I-I just don't want this Colin guy knowing about your houseguest before the trial.
Kay: Well, I agree to that, but, Jill did manage, to get him out of here while the transfer was happening. Um, but they're in her part of the house.
Chris: Okay.
Kay: Uh, that should help.
Chris: Every bit helps.
Nina: I don't know about those stairs. What do you think?
Chance: Well, as long as we take them slow I should be okay.
Phillip: I'll make sure Esther stays in…hey.
Esther: What? What are you talking about? What's going around here?
Phillip: Um...
Kay: Uh, Esther.
Esther: (Sighs)
Kay: Oh, D. Oh, uh, Es--Esther.
Chris: Oh, my God, Esther.
Phillip: Whoa, whoa! Come on. She's fainted. (Grunts)
Chris: Here. Wait a minute.
Paul: What the hell is happening?
Nina: Oh, we were trying to sneak Chance into the house, and...
Phillip: You okay?
Kay: Esther? No, she-- she'll be fine. She'll be fine.
Esther: I-I-I th--I thought that I saw-- that's not--
Kay: No, he's here. He's here. No, he's here. See?
Chance: Esther, you didn't see something. It's me. I'm alive.
Kay: See? It's him. Easy. Easy.
Esther: Chance. (Sighs)
Phillip: I-I will explain everything to you. I'm gonna take you into the kitchen and fill you in, okay?
Kay: Good.
Esther: I can't believe this. Oh, my God. Oh, my God, Chance.
Chance: It's okay. Come here. Come here.
Esther: Oh, my God. I'm so happy to see you.
Chance: Come her. Come here.
Nina: Careful.
Esther: I can't believe that you're really alive. (Sobs)
Chance: Careful. (Winces)
Esther: Oh, thank God.
Kay: Just take her.
Chance: I'm okay.
Kay: Esther! Oh, God.
Nina: Okay.
Chance: (Sighs)
Nina: Enough excitement. Let's go upstairs, okay?
Chance: Yeah, good idea.
Nina: Come on.
Kay: Chance--careful. Care--careful!
Nina: Yep.
Kay: Oh, God.
Chris: (Sighs): My God, what a day.
Kay: (Sighs) One trauma after another.
Chris: I know. It's gonna be all right.
Kay: My God.
Chloe: Um, o-okay. I-I just saw Murphy take off in the helicopter. There are a bunch of linebackers everywhere. What's going on?
Chris: Uh, look, uh, to answer your question, yes, our "Friend" is staying here.
Kay: Uh, it--it's the safest place for him to stay while he's recuperating. Come on.
Chloe: Well, any news on Ronan?
Chris: How is it possible you don't know? Anyone with your security clearance would. No, I understand that.
Kay: Why don't you go up and see Chance? Uh, he would love to see you.
Chloe: (Sighs)
Kay: He's in his old room. You know where it's at.
Chloe: Maybe I should just let him settle in.
Kay: Uh--
Phillip: No, it doesn't take much. She'll pop him in bed, and close the window, close the door. His--his stuff was delivered earlier. It's fine.
Chloe: Mm-hmm.
Chris: Would your superior be able to help me?
Kay: Uh, Christine will let us know when she finds out anything bout Ronan
Chloe: Oh, well, I won't hold my breath.
Kay: Well, uh, Chloe.
Paul: You know, at first, I was against you staying here, but, um, maybe this is the last place anyone would look for you.
Chance: (Sighs)
Nina: All right, so you just rest. I'll bring you up some soup later, okay? You've got your mp3 player and your headphones. And, hey, if you want to sleep, I've got one of those masks that block out the light. Do you want that?
Chance: Mom. Mom, stop. Okay? Since when have you been the type to hover?
Paul: Well, you did just recover from, um, major surgery.
Chance: Yeah, but it's more than that. (Sighs) I know you're worried about Ronan.
Nina: Listen, don't make this about me, okay? You just concentrate on gettin' your strength back.
Chance: Whatever happens to my brother, everything's gonna be okay.
Nina: I know. It has to be, okay? All right, love you.
Chance: You, too.
Nina: Rest.
Chance: I will.
Paul: Okay.
Nina: (Sighs, clears throat)
Chance: (Sighs)
Chance: (Chuckles)
(Knock on door)
Chloe: Hey.
Rafe: Attempted murder, fraud, unlawful possession of prescription narcotics, multiple counts of felony aggravated battery/ with intent to cause great bodily harm.
Meggie: I'm in big trouble, huh?
Rafe: I don't have full discovery yet. But there's a-a lot of evidence here against you...
Meggie: (Chuckles)
Rafe: Including eyewitness testimony by thee very credible sources. If Victor Newman wants to put you away, he can put you away.
Meggie: Well, he is pigheaded, all right.
Rafe: Bottom line, Meggie-- considering how influential these plaintiffs are, I think it's in your best interest to consider a plea bargain.
Meggie: (Chuckles)
Nikki: Apparently, the authorities in Alaska couldn't make their charges against Meggie stick, so now it's our turn.
Deacon: For your sake, I'm so sorry she's back.
Nikki: (Scoffs) I'm not. It gives me a chance to go down to that jail and tell her what I really think of her.
Deacon: No. No, Nikk. You can't do that. Hey, hey, hey, listen to me. Listen, you fought so hard to get sober. You can't do anything that's gonna set you back.
Nikki: Oh, it's not gonna set me back. Are you kidding? If anything, it will set me forward. I need this for my recovery. I mean, I can't think of a better way of getting closure.
Deacon: (Sighs) Going and talking to Meggie is just gonna drag you back into all that pain. We're the one good thing that came out of all this. You and me lookin' to the future-- Baby, that's your closure.
Nikki: (Sighs) I-I suppose you're right. But I still have to go. (Sighs) I have to warn Victor that Meggie’s back.
Deacon: (Sighs)
Victor: "Too much too soon"? What does that mean?
Diane: What's the rush? You and I are just getting to know each other again. The carriage house is very close.
Victor: You and I were married once. Why are you so reluctant to move in with me?
Diane: Kyle has been through a lot. I'm trying to create a stable environment for him, not to mention that Jack'll freak out, and the last thing my son and I need is to be caught in one of your epic battles.
Victor: I don't give a damn about Jack Abbott. This is not about Jack and Kyle. It's about you and me. I want you to move with me. End of story.
Diane: Is that an ultimatum?
Victor: It's my preference. How's that?
Nick: I’ll be able to hit the puck better.
Kyle: Make sure you overlap the tape. And I like to use black because it hides the puck better.
Nick: Good tip. Did you get your socks? All right. How about your mittens? The, uh, waterproof ones.
Summer: Okay, Dad.
Kyle: I'm surprised you didn't grow up playing hockey since you have a pond in your backyard.
Nick: Yeah, I spent most of my childhood in Switzerland away at boarding school. I didn't come back until I was in high school.
Kyle: What was it like living so far away from your parents? I mean, I didn't see Dad much, but at least I have my mom.
Nick: Well, you know, there were some times when I could have used a pep talk from my dad, or even a hug. But it made me independent, which I think's a good thing.
Kyle: I wish I could be more independent so Mom wouldn't have to worry about me as much. She tries to pretend that she doesn't, but I can tell she really does.
Nick: I think it's pretty cool the way you two look out for each other.
Kyle: If we don't, who else will?
Diane: Why don't we see where this relationship goes before we make any big decisions?
Victor: I offered you a place by my side. I thought it was something that you would want.
Diane: I do. I just think it might not be the best thing for either of us right now.
(Doorbell rings)
Victor: Excuse me. This is not the right time.
Nikki: No, it never is. Believe me, I wouldn't be here at all, but it's very important.
Diane: Hello, Nikki.
Nikki: Would you mind if I had a word with Victor alone?
Victor: Yes, I would mind.
Diane: I have to check on Kyle. You know what? Excuse me.
Victor: Okay, I'm sorry. What is it you want?
Nikki: Meggie is back. She's at the county jail as we speak.
Victor: Is that supposed to intimidate me, or what?
Meggie: Copping a plea really isn't my style.
Rafe: Well, then I'll get to work prying loose those discovery materials.
Meggie: (Scoffs) Well, you know where to find me. (Chuckles)
Deacon: Yeah, I don't know. I just, uh... (Clicks tongue) I don't think orange is really your color.
Meggie: (Chuckles) Surprised you'd visit. Uh, big effort, since you've been such a pill every time I've tried to talk to you.
Deacon: Well, you know, life on the outside just keeps goin' on. Been busy.
Meggie: Busy in Genoa City? You still working your little Nikki? I could use the cash for my defense.
Deacon: My parole officer's here, so I'm here. That's how it works.
Meggie: How is our little aging princess? Are you still, you know, hitting that?
Deacon: Shut your mouth.
Meggie: (Chuckles)
Deacon: I didn't come down here to talk about Nikki. I came down here to warn you not to say a word about our little arrangement.
Meggie: Warn me? Oh, that's pretty hilarious. You're in this as deep as I am.
Deacon: You listen to me. The letter "D" so much as slips out of that vile mouth of yours, I'll take the stand at your trial, and I'll tell them everything, Meggie, and I do mean everything, that you've done to those people and put you away for a long, long time.
Meggie: (Chuckles) Everything we did.
Chance: Sit. Make yourself comfortable.
Chloe: Okay. (Sighs) This isn't awkward or anything. (Sighs)
Chance: You did fine the other day.
Chloe: Well, the other day, we were in your hospital room, and now we're here in your room on your bed. It's weird.
Chance: Don't tell me that you got shy while I was gone.
Chloe: (Sighs) That’s not it.
Chance: Before I left, I thought that we were in a pretty okay place.
Chloe: Look, I've been avoiding telling you something.
Chance: What's that?
Chloe: I'm seeing someone.
Nina: Ronan has to be somewhere. I mean, could he have been kidnapped? How do we know he's all right?
(Cell phone rings)
Chris: Wait. Wait. Wait hold on. This could be it. Ed, hi. That was quick. What'd you find out? He what? No, no, no, are--are you sure? Yeah, but there's no way that-- okay, yeah. Um, yeah. Thank you for your help.
Nina: What? What happened?
Chris: According to my source... (Sighs) Ronan ordered his own transfer. It--
Kay: Oh, God.
Chris: It was his decision to leave.
Nikki: Despite what's happened between the two of us, I would think that you would want to see Meggie punished. She got off scot-free in Alaska. I suggest that you use your considerable influence to make sure that doesn't happen a second time.
Victor: I've done my job. I foiled her ridiculous plot to kill me. I reported her to the cops. They have enough evidence to put her behind bars for the rest of her life, all right?
Nikki: That woman maliciously poisoned me with alcohol. She destroyed our marriage. She left Murphy for dead in a parking lot
Victor: Mm-hmm. Well, I'm sorry about all those things, but I am moving on, all right?
Nikki: You're... moving on.
Victor: If you don't mind showing yourself out...
Nikki: Yeah.
Victor: And by the way, I asked Diane Jenkins to move in with me. I'm not going to spend my time worrying about this nutcase Meggie McClaine, all right?
Nikki: Right. Okay.
Nick: It's time to go!
Kyle: (Laughs)
Nick: (Groans)
Summer: Game on, Dudes!
Nick: (Grunts)
Kyle: Oh. Oh. Ooh. Blocked. And it's coming down for the shot!
Nick: (Grunts)
Kyle: Goal! Yeah!
Nick: (Groans)
Kyle: (Laughs)
Summer: (Squeals)
Kyle: (Laughs)
Summer: Aah! Aah!
Kyle: Door. I'll get it.
Nick: Well, all right.
Kyle: (Laughs) Oh, Mom. Hey, come on in.
Diane: Hi, Nick.
Nick: Hey, Diane.
Summer: Can I show Kyle my new computer? Or are we going skating now?
Nick: Yeah, we got a few minutes. Go ahead.
Kyle: Summer.
Summer: Come on.
Diane: I-I'm so sorry I'm late to pick Kyle up.
Nick: It's all right. We were just about to play some hockey.
Diane: Yeah. I'm sure he'd like that. Jack and Victor-- they're not exactly, uh, Gretzky and Lemieux, you know? (Chuckles) I'm very sorry.
Nick: For what?
Diane: The other night at Gloworm. I'm-- I certainly didn't intend for you to find out about your father and me like that.
Nick: (Sighs) Whatever.
Diane: Just so you know, Victor has asked us to move in with him. I'm planning on turning him down.
Nick: Well, don't say no on my account.
Chance: You and Kevin, huh?
Chloe: We have had our fair share of bizarre stuff happen, believe me, but, um, we're together now, and it's really good.
Chance: You think it’ll get serious?
Chloe: Well, you know me.
Chance: Uh-huh.
Chloe: I say the L-word and break out into hives, so...
Chance: (Chuckles)
Chloe: I don't think I'm ready for that just yet.
Chance: Before I left, I kind of thought that maybe you and Ronan--
Chloe: God, no. No. He is the biggest creep ever, and that was, by far, the biggest mistake I've ever made, and as far as I'm concerned, Heather can just have him.
Chance: Well, I've made a few mistakes myself. But I'm not ready to condemn the guy.
Nina: No, your contact was lying. That's all you people do is lie and cover things up and try to deceive people.
Kay: N-Nina--
Phillip: Ronan's FBI. He’s an expert at that. That's what he does. He used--false identities, I--
Nina: You know, you have already made up your mind that you don't like him.
Paul: O-okay--
Phillip: When somebody hurts the people I love--
Nina: No, just stop it. I don't want to hear about it. You know, n-next, you'll be agreeing with Chloe that he just used us.
Paul: Phillip's only trying to help, all right? Listen, he does have a point. Ronan needed a liver. He got one. He left. I think we at least have to face the possibility that--that Ronan isn't the man we thought he was.
Nina: No, I won't believe it. I won’t. (Sobs) I won’t.
Paul: Oh, come on, Honey. I know.
Nina: (Sobs)
Chloe: So I want to know...
Chance: Hmm?
Chloe: What--what it's like being in the witness protection program. I mean, do you, like, live in hiding?
Chance: (Sighs)
Chloe: Or do you... have a second identity and get to live like a regular person?
Chance: (Chuckles) Wow. (Sighs)
(Knock on door) (Door opens)
Kay: Well, I have got some news.
Chloe: You're not smiling
Kay: Christine found an agent who was willing to tell her what happened to your brother. Ronan planned his own transfer. Evidently, he had it in the works for quite some time.
Chloe: I knew it. I knew it. That son of a--I knew it.
Chance: Are you telling me that Ronan played me?
Nina: (Sighs)
Esther: Here you go.
Nina: Thank you.
Esther: Phillip explained to me what happened. I am so sorry.
Nina: It's just Thanksgiving, you know, and Christmas and how he let me take care of him when he was sick... and just all the little moments that I thought we connected. Was that a lie?
Paul: We don't know for sure.
Nina: This picture from his high school was the first clue that we had as to who he was. You're right, Phillip. I don't know who he is. I have no idea who this person is.
Diane: I understand I hurt you.
Nick: If you want to believe that, be my guest.
Diane: I was just outside watching you with my son. It helped me to realize that I-I know what I want, and it isn't Victor.
Nick: That's a little hard to believe after what I saw at Gloworm. No, don’t. Don't do that.
Diane: There was something happening between us, something more than friendship.
Nick: Hooking up with you was a mistake. It's one I won't make again. You made your choice, so live with it.
Diane: Nick--
Nick: I put up with enough of this crap from Sharon. I'm not gonna do it with you.
Diane: I hardly think it's fair to compare me to Sharon!
Kyle: What's all the yelling about?
Nick: (Sighs) No one's yelling.
Diane: It’s getting late. I'm sure you have homework.
Kyle: No. What about hockey?
Diane: You'll have to play another day.
Kyle: No. But, Mom--
Nick: Dude, its--its okay. We'll see each other soon.
Kyle: Bye.
(Door closes)
Summer: Are you okay, Daddy?
Meggie: Nikki. (Sighs) How lovely of you to visit. I wasn't expecting you, but I was hoping that--
Nikki: Oh, cut the crap. I trusted you. You betrayed that trust. I confided in you. I let you live in my home. I literally gave you the shirt off my back. And how did you repay me? By destroying my sobriety, tying to seduce my husband. You almost killed Murphy. You did leave him in a coma. You terrorized two families, and for what? Money. You are as sick as they come. There are no words for the pain you caused.
Meggie: I never intended to harm anyone. And frankly, the allegations being made are more than a little outrageous.
Nikki: (Scoffs) Oh, my God. I-I can't believe what I'm hearing. Well, actually, yes, I can.
Meggie: There’s no proof that I was spiking your drinks, Nikki. And even if I had been, you'd have noticed the alcohol, for heaven sakes. I mean, on the other hand, if you were putting booze in your own drinks, you'd need a scapegoat later, wouldn't you?
Nikki: You shut up, Bitch.
Meggie: (Laughs)
Nikki: So help me God, if it's the last thing I do, I will see to it that justice is served.
Meggie: That bartender? You know, the one you're friends with? How's he doing? Still goin' to A.A. meetings together?
Nikki: Deacon is none of your business. Now stay out of my life.
Victor: Michael, do me a favor. Find out everything you can about Meggie McClaine. We cannot afford to have that woman run around free. All right? Thank you.
(Front door closes)
Victor: Hey, Kyle. How’s school today?
Kyle: Fine.
Victor: Oh.
Diane: Please put your hockey things away and start your book report.
Victor: What happened with him?
Diane: No time for hockey today, I'm afraid.
Victor: You want to continue our discussion?
Diane: No need. I've made a decision.
Victor: Well, I'm anxious to hear it.
Chris: That looks really, really good.
Nick: Well, then let's get you one then. Excuse me. Can we get a beer for the lady?
Chris: Thank you. Thanks. (Sighs)
Nick: Looks like we're both havin' a swell day.
Chris: Well, I spent mine watching my best friend go through hell. God, she's in so much pain, and there's nothing I can do to help her. The only person that can took off. He, uh, he came into our lives. He used us. He got what he needed and took off. I--at least, that's the way it looks I-I just can't believe that people can be so cruel to their own family.
Nick: Well, I was betrayed today by someone I trusted. And then this afternoon, she showed up for some more.
Chris: I assume we're talking about Sharon.
Nick: (Sighs) No. No, that's been over for a while, though I did have the pleasure of seeing Sharon accept Adam's wedding proposal on Valentine’s Day.
Chris: Ouch.
Nick: Sharon's just impulsive. She gets caught up in her feelings. She doesn't think at times. And when that happens, she makes a mess of everything, but she doesn't do anything maliciously. The woman I'm talking about is a cold, calculating bitch, who was just looking to get the best deal she can get in life, and she doesn't care who she pisses off to get it.
Chris: Mm and this time, it was you.
Nick: Yeah, I knew who this person was when I got involved with her. She and my family have a history, and it's not a good one, but I really thought with me, it would be different. Guess I learned my lesson.
Nikki: This is an official announcement that I would like to get rip-roaring drunk. But I thought better of it, so that cider's gonna have to do.
Deacon: Let me help you with that.
Nikki: What is this? Did you do all that?
Deacon: Well, I figured, uh, it's a little better than eating out of the carton. Besides, I did promise you a night out.
Nikki: Well, I'd rather stay in anyway.
Deacon: You know what? So would I. How'd your meeting with Victor go? You warn him about you-know-who being back in town?
Nikki: (Sighs) I-- I don't want to get into it. (Sighs)
Deacon: Okay. How'd the rest of your afternoon go?
Nikki: I got through it. How about you?
Deacon: I finished my shift, picked up the food, and now I'm here with you. And I gotta tell you, suddenly, I just-- I don't feel so hungry.
Nikki: Huh. What a coincidence. Neither do I.
Deacon: Mm.
Man: Uh, the librarian pulled the articles you requested for your defense. Nikki Newman, any mention, past 30 days. Yeah.
Meggie: Thanks. Perfect.
Meggie: Hmm. "A trio of Newmans with Valentine fever were present at the impromptu charity event, including Nikki Newman, fresh off her latest broken engagement with billionaire ex Victor, cutting a rug with a most unlikely consolation prize, Gloworm bartender Deacon Sharpe. Move over, Puppies. Cougars need love, too."
Chris: Well, thank you for the beer.
Nick: (Sighs) Anytime.
Chris: It was good running into you again.
Nick: You, too.
Chris: And it's probably not my place to say this, but I'm going to anyway. This, uh, girl that's got you so upset, who-- whoever she is, I think you like her a lot.
Nick: No. Actually, I hate her.
Chris: Oh. (Laughs) I stand corrected then take care.
Nick: You, too.
Chris: Bye.
Victor: Would you and Kyle be moving in with me tonight or tomorrow?
Diane: Confident, are we?
Victor: Shouldn't I be?
Diane: My answer is yes, provided that you and I have separate bedrooms. Kyle is at a very impressionable age. And, well, that's the only arrangement that would make me feel comfortable, at least for now.
Victor: You're a good mother.
Diane: I try to be. Do we have a deal?
Victor: I'll have the staff move all of your stuff in tonight.
Diane: Tomorrow will be soon enough, okay? It'll give me a chance to talk to Kyle.
Victor: Uh-huh. Tomorrow. Come here. I think this will make us both happy, all right?
Chance: Ronan came to me before the surgery offering me a chance to pull out, but he knew that I never would because of Mom.
Chloe: Yeah, because he knows how devoted you are to your mother, and he used that against you.
Kay: Now, now. Now, now. No matter what, Ronan is your brother, and you did the right thing. You were saving his life.
Chance: Yeah. And now that I have done that, I'd like to find he guy, rip him open, and take back my liver.
Phillip: For whatever it's worth, Nina, I wish I'd been wrong. I'm so sorry.
Paul: You know, none of us wanted this to happen.
Nina: You know, I know you both mean well, and I love you, but I searched for Ronan his entire life. I'm not gonna give up now, and... you know, maybe he's a jerk like everyone's saying, but the only thing that we know is that he ordered his own transfer. We have no idea why. So anything we say is pure speculation. So until I hear from my son, I'm gonna hold out hope.
Ronan: "A blank born every minute." Six letters.
Next on “The Young and the Restless”
Ashley: No, tell me it's not true. You're not actually marrying him again.
Abby: I think I want out for real this time.
Kyle: Mom and I are movin' in today.
Victor: You are indeed, and I couldn't be more pleased about that.
