Episode # 9529 ~ Victor Has a Surprising Suggestion for Michael

Heather: I'm right, aren't I? You're ill.

Ronan: A good lawyer never jumps to conclusions.

Heather: Oh, so... (Chuckles) What you said before about me being smart-- yeah.

Ronan: Yeah, I was wrong. I overestimated you. Your instincts are pretty lousy. I guess if they were better, you probably wouldn't have gotten fired by the new D.A.

Heather: All I did was follow the evidence-- the way you suddenly dropped that coffee cup...

Ronan: Mm-hmm.

Heather: Your weird reaction when Murphy and I were talking about death...

Ronan: Mm-hmm. Okay. See, whatever you think is going on, it's all in that head of yours.

Heather: You're taking serious medication and you're hiding it.

Ronan: (Chuckles) What? I'm hiding it? What is this? What is this? What, because you lost your job, you've got nothing better to do. Now you're gonna stick that nose of yours in my business? Just do me the favor of getting your own life, okay? Okay.

Lauren: You want to be legal guardian of Daisy's baby? Wha-- hell, why don't we all just bake her a cake and welcome her into the family?

Kevin: This isn't about Daisy.

Lauren: It is to me.

Kevin: It... (Sighs)

(Cell phone rings)

Michael: Excuse me.

Lauren: (Sighs)

Michael: Hello, Victor.

Victor: Can you meet me for dinner? We haven't talked since my books were seized.

Michael: Uh, yes, and there's something I need to discuss with you, too, uh, but I can't get away right now.

Victor: I will be working late in my office. Uh, see you there.

Michael: All right, I'll-- I'll call you to let you know if I can make it. Good-bye.

Lauren: No, you know what? I-I can't even deal with this.

Kevin: Well, whether or not you want to deal with this, there's a baby coming, and I won't ignore that.

Lauren: Yeah, that happens to be Sheila and Tom's grandchild.

Kevin: Okay, and who better than me knows how sick those two were? My niece has a better chance with me.

Lauren: Don't you get it? Daisy is gonna use this child to leverage her way into your life.

Kevin: I want Daisy to pay for everything that she has done, okay? But the baby is blameless.

Lauren: Michael. Michael, please explain to your brother why gaining custody of Daisy's baby is just insane.

Kevin: (Scoffs)

Daisy: (Sniffles)

Daisy: (Sighs) Daniel was angry. Give him a few days. He'll come around. If he doesn't, somebody'll come through for us, right?

Daniel: (Sighs)

Jana: Hi.

Daniel: (Sighs)

Jana: You all right there?

Daniel: Hi. Um, oh, yeah. Yeah, I couldn't be better. I got the paternity test results, and, uh, well, guess who the big winner is?

Jana: Daisy was telling the truth? The baby's yours?

Daniel: The first time she's ever been honest about anything.

Jana: Oh, my God. I am so, so sorry.

Daniel: You know, when I found out I was a father, I had, like, this out-of-body experience, and I was looking down on everybody else's faces in the room and watching their expressions. I-I was positive this kid wasn't mine.

Jana: (Sighs) With everything that you've gone through with Amber...

Daniel: How's that for irony?

Jana: So now what? How--how is this gonna change things?

Daniel: What are you talkin' about? This isn't gonna change anything. What, Daisy thinks I'm gonna get soft 'cause this kid's mine? No, no, no. See, I didn't ask for this. She drugged me to get me into bed. As far as I'm concerned, that lets me off the hook.

Jana: So you're not gonna have anything to do with her or the baby?

Daniel: (Sighs) Daisy can rot in jail for the rest of her life.

Jack: If you're serious about helping Daisy have this baby out of jail, Vance Abrams is your man.

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh.

Jack: I have his number. I can call him for you.

Phyllis: Really? No, Lauren and Michael will never talk to me again, not to mention what my son's gonna do and how he'll react.

Jack: It's your decision.

Phyllis: (Groans) We're talking about my grandchild. (Sighs) I need a drink on that. Oh, Daisy is in her third trimester. I don't have a lot of time.

Jack: It's only a phone call.

Phyllis: Yeah. I don't know what my options are, if I even have any. I can't call Michael, right? So maybe Vance is-- is my best shot. Uh, call him. Call Vance.

Jack: Okay.

Jack: Vance, Jack Abbott. I think I may have a new client for you.

Ronan: Yeah.

Heather: I'm not backing off. Something's seriously wrong with you, and I'm concerned.

Ronan: (Chuckles) Well, your concern would be touching if we were friends.

Heather: Wow. Well, you haven't answered my question yet. What are you being treated for?

Ronan: Why don't you tell me what I'm being treated for, since you, you know, looked it up online?

Heather: You're taking an extremely powerful anti-inflammatory.

Ronan: Mm-hmm. For my extremely painful wrist.

Heather: Yeah, right.

Ronan: Like I told you--

Heather: Your carpal tunnel from all that repetitive whipping out of your badge, huh?

Ronan: If you don't believe me, then why don't we go back to my place? (Sighs) I can take my clothes off for you, and you can examine me.

Heather: You're a real jerk, you know that? It's not like you've made a ton of friends in this town. I was worried about you. Forget it.

Kevin: So if all else fails, say Kevin is insane, and he'll back off. Is that your strategy?

Chloe: Very sensitive, Lauren.

Michael: All right, hold it. Hold it. You know Lauren didn't mean it that way.

Lauren: No, of course I didn't, and I-I'm sorry if I put it that way, but I do think wanting to raise Daisy's baby is a poor choice.

Kevin: Well, it doesn't have to be. I wish you would trust me.

Lauren: It's not you I don't trust.

Kevin: Well, Daniel can't deal. Somebody has to.

Lauren: And why does it have to be you?

Kevin: Because. Because I can be the one to break the cycle. The baby knows nothing about Sarah or Sheila or Terrible Tom. I can show her that she can have a normal life and she doesn't have to carry on this cycle.

Michael: All right, Kevin, your heart's in a good-- right place. I-I know it is. But I'm not quite sure you're ready to be a father.

Lauren: Yeah, especially in this situation.

Chloe: You know what? He is really great with Delia, and she loves him so much.

Michael: Fenmore, too. You know, Fenmore loves you, but there's a difference between being an uncle...

Kevin: (Scoffs)

Michael: And raising a child.

Kevin: So what are you saying? That I'm not capable? Because you were a head case for years, and I think that you're a great dad. And if you don't think that I can take care of my niece and show her a good life, well, then to hell with you, Michael.

Daniel: You know, Daisy shows up and drops this baby bomb on me, and everybody starts freakin' out. Everyone's got an opinion. Everybody wants to tell me what to do. I've got mom. I've got Jack. I mean, even Kevin.

Jana: Kevin? What does Kevin think about this?

Daniel: Oh, well, Kevin thinks that I need to step up for the baby's sake. Easy to say when it's not yours.

Daisy: You don't testify, the D.A. has no case.

Jana: You're trying to manipulate me, and I don't like it.

Daisy: We have this amazing opportunity. You help me get out of this legal mess, and I'll tell Kevin it was your idea. His icy veins will start to thaw when he finds out what you did for his little sister and her baby.

Daniel: You know, Kevin just needs to turn his back on Daisy and--and keep going.

Jana: Yeah, you're right. You're right.

Daniel: Everyone just needs to leave this situation alone. Daisy's the last person that anyone should be involved with.

Phyllis: I want Daisy out of jail temporarily, just temporarily. That's all, Vance, okay? I don't-- I-I really don't want that kid born in prison.

Vance: What you're asking for won't be easy. Daisy has been denied bail. That's big. The court needs a real reason to readdress this issue.

Jack: What about her pregnancy?

Vance: Jack, women give birth behind bars all the time. Nah, it'll have to be a much stronger argument than that.

Phyllis: All right, such as?

Vance: Such as something physical, a psychological condition, something that's causing distress to the baby. That's an angle.

Phyllis: Right, well, I mean, this woman is a psychotic freak.

Vance: We could petition the court to have her examined, get a team of doctors to evaluate her mental state.

Phyllis: Oh, that's great. I'll pay for--I'm-- I'll pay for any doctor. It's fine. I'll take care of that.

Vance: That's only the first step. Daisy is a flight risk and a threat to others. That I will have to address aggressively.

Jack: Couldn't we put her under house arrest?

Vance: Well, the first question the judge will ask will be, where? It'll need to be someplace safe and secure, somewhere where they feel confident she can't run.

Jack: So we find someplace. We hire a guard--guards.

Phyllis: Dai--Daisy-- she can live with me. (Sighs)

Heather: (Chuckles) We'll have dinner another time. No, Rafe. Rafe, I'm telling you, no guilt, all right? You're busy. That's, uh, that's a good thing. I-I hope I'll be busy, too, someday soon. Uh, yeah, you got it. Good-bye. Um, my dinner plans were just canceled, so, um, I'm just gonna grab something at the bar. (Sighs) Hello, Victor.

Victor: Heather, how are you?

Heather: I've, uh... (Chuckles) Seen better days.

Victor: We haven't talked since you withdrew from the election.

Heather: And lost my job.

Victor: Really? Please sit down.

Heather: Yes, it-- it happened this morning. The D.A. said that he couldn't afford even the appearance of unethical behavior, and I have to say, I can't say I blame him.

Victor: But you walked into this with both eyes open. You know that.

Heather: Well, we both lost out, didn't we? You pumped a lot of cash into my campaign, and I know that you wanted to see a conviction against Adam as much as I did. And it would have worked, too, if you hadn't pushed me into getting involved in your daughter's lawsuit.

Victor: And imagine, after all our efforts, the high court ordered my books to be seized.

Heather: So it was all for nothing.

Lauren: Look, being a parent is hard work, especially if you're alone, and--and that is not a criticism.

Kevin: Well, it sure sounds like one.

Lauren: All right, you know what? I am not gonna help you if Daisy is in the picture.

Kevin: Does that go for you, too, Michael? If I do what I think is right, is my family gonna abandon me?

Michael: All right, everyone. Enough. Look, Kevin, you're gonna be an incredible father one day. You are.

Kevin: (Sighs)

Michael: But not now, not under these extremely complicated circumstances. This is not something you do on impulse. This is something you think about. (Sighs) The other day, you and your sidekick had just been arrested for having betting slips in the back of your car. So--so one day, you're running numbers for a big-time bookie, and the next, you feel like painting a nursery? I mean, you're lucky the D.A. didn't have enough to hold you. Imagine if--if they had, and you had a baby at home.

Kevin: (Sighs) Things happen sometimes, whether you're ready or not, and you deal with things as they come.

Michael: All right, you know what? This whole conversation is a moot point. Say Daisy is locked up for the next 20 years, and--

Lauren: Longer, God willing.

Michael: Daniel has just been hit with a huge dose of reality. He is about to become a father. That's a lot to process. Let's see what he ultimately decides to do.

Kevin: He doesn't want the baby. He said so.

Michael: Today. Today. Let's just wait to see where Daniel's head is at in the next couple of weeks. Let's everyone just take a giant step back.

Kevin: Yeah, thanks, anyway.

Chloe: (Sighs)

Lauren: (Sighs)

Jack: Wait. You never said you were thinking of moving Daisy into your house.

Phyllis: Just--I know. It's crazy. It's crazy. I wasn't thinking of it. I wasn't thinking of it. Lauren mentioned it. I blew it off. But I really think that it's the best place for her.

Jack: There are other options, right? Right?

Vance: Well, you could send Daisy to a halfway house, a private hospital, a home for unwed mothers, all kinds of places.

Phyllis: No. No, no, no, no, no. No. No. This woman, Daisy, has no respect for life, no respect for anyone, Vance. I mean, I don't know what she's gonna do to that kid, you know, if the whim strikes her. No, no, no, no. This--this woman needs to stay in my home so I can take care of her personally.

Jack: What about Summer?

Phyllis: I just-- (Stammers) Just--we'll--we'll just talk about that after Vance leaves.

Vance: Well, there's one more thing we need to discuss-- your son. How does he feel about this?

Phyllis: (Sighs) He's in shock. I mean, I'm just taking over for him. He doesn't know what to do.

Vance: He has every legal right to the child. You'd have a much stronger case if his name was on the suit.

Phyllis: Okay. I'll talk to him. I'll call you after.

(Cell phone alert chimes)

Vance: Huh. Okay, I'm off. Look, if you need to reach me, here you go.

Phyllis: Okay, thank you.

Jack: Hey, thanks for stoppin' by.

Vance: If you keep sendin' me clients, I'll have to kick back 10%. That's a joke.

Jack: (Sighs)

Vance: (Clears throat)

Jack: You are not moving Daisy into your house. It's one thing to look out for this baby. It's another to invite the devil into your home.

Phyllis: I don't want this baby born in prison. It's temporary. Temporary-- just until the baby is born.

Jack: You don't want that freak in your house. She was part of a plan to kill you.

(Footsteps approach)

Woman: The county jail physician is comin' to check you out.

Daisy: Now? (Sighs)

Woman: A little while. Meantime, you've got a visitor.

Daisy: Who?

Jana: It's me.

Daisy: (Sighs) (Sighs)

Daisy: Did you, uh, think about what I said?

Jana: Yes, I did.

Daisy: If you don't testify against me--

Jana: And what about Lauren? You know she's going to take the stand.

Daisy: (Sighs) Lauren's a wack-job. I can prove she has a grudge against me 'cause I'm Sheila Carter's daughter.

Jana: Well, it looks like it comes down to me then, eh?

Daisy: All you have to do is keep your mouth shut, and then Kevin will be eternally grateful for you helping his sis and his niece. I'll be a free woman. That's what you want, right?

Jana: (Sighs)

Daisy: To get him back?

Jana: Yes.

Daisy: You see, this is a win-win situation for the both of us.

Jana: Certainly seems that way.

Daisy: I had a feeling you'd come around.

(Cell phone rings)

Ronan: This is Malloy. Yeah, of course. I'd be happy to meet with the new D.A. tell him I have an update for him on the cleanup of the G.C.P.D. yeah. No, I'm-- I-I'm looking forward to meeting with Mr. Walsh. Yeah, we can use the change. Yeah, I know. We can all use a fresh start.

Victor: If you want someone to blame...

Heather: (Sighs)

Victor: You call Billy Abbott. He is responsible for that inflammatory article about you.

Heather: You don't care what happens to me at all, do you? You'll move on. You'll find another way to attack Adam. And meanwhile, I'm out of the job that meant everything to me. I wanted to be the district attorney because I thought... I thought I could do some good. And that's not just something that I said to get elected. But I was so desperate to--to win, that I... let myself get involved in the politics, and now... my reputation is completely destroyed. I have no idea what happens next. I mean, I can't... I can't start a private practice. Who would hire me?

Victor: Well, it seems we all have problems, don't we? This Meggie McClaine woman is wreaking havoc with my family. My two daughters are suing me, which is very bad for business. Talking of which, I need to get back to work. Nice to see you.

Daisy: First thing we have to do is call my lawyer and tell her the good news.

Jana: The good news?

Daisy: That you're not going to testify against me.

Jana: But I am. In fact, Daisy, I cannot wait to get up to that stand and tell everyone exactly what you did to Lauren and me.

Daisy: But I thought you just said--

Jana: Did you really think you could trick me that easily? I will never, ever forget the way you got pleasure off of locking me in that bloody crate, you torturing me until I was begging for you to let me go. Aw, look at you. You haven't changed. Have you? And that thing in there, that child, is nothing more than a bloody meal ticket.

Daisy: You have no idea what it's like to bring another life into this world!

Jana: Oh, I... (Scoffs) Don't you even! You are trying to use me and Kevin. And you know what? I will never, ever let that happen.

Daisy: (Sniffles) (Sighs)

Chloe: Look you've just gotta give Lauren some time to get used to the idea. Is that Daniel?

Kevin: Yeah.

Daniel: Hey, Kevin.

Chloe: Want some company?

Daniel: I don't know. Is that code for "Let me tell you what you should do about the baby"?

Chloe: (Scoffs) I'm not the enemy, Dude.

Daniel: Whatever. Um, I guess you should probably know, Kevin, that I spoke with Daisy.

Kevin: Really?

Daniel: Yeah. I told her I want to put the kid up for adoption.

Kevin: You sure?

Daniel: Yeah, I'm sure. I thought about what you said, and you know what? You're right. The kid doesn't deserve to grow up in all that chaos. And if by some miracle, Daisy does get sprung, well, she's the last person that should be raising the kid, and since I don't want to play father, the only shot that kid has at a normal life is gettin' as far away from Genoa City as possible. Let some decent people raise her, away from here, and--and away from Daisy and all her baggage.

Phyllis: I remember everything that Daisy did to me. Why do you think I want her living with me? Anybody who doesn't know her like I do, they get manipulated.

Jack: You really think you can handle her better than strangers?

Phyllis: Yes, I know-- I know I can.

Jack: Then I-I worry for you.

Phyllis: Why are you worried about me? I'll know what she's gonna do before she knows. She'll learn not to mess with me.

Jack: I still don't like it.

Phyllis: Well, I just talked to Vance. I don't know what's gonna come of it.

Jack: And you--yeah, when you want something, you're not gonna give up till you--

Phyllis: Listen, do you fault me? Do you really fault me? I don't want this baby born in prison. That--that stigma is gonna stay with her the rest of her life. I want her born in a safe, clean hospital, not--not with some prison guard taking care of her. I hope that Daniel sees it the same way.

Jack: Now when are you gonna call him?

Phyllis: Well, no time like the present. Let's go. (Sighs)

Jack: Okay.

Phyllis: Oh.

Lauren: I feel terrible that I argued with Kevin. (Sighs)

Michael: He's just not thinking straight.

Lauren: I'm sorry I put you in the middle of it, too.

Michael: Oh, I'll talk to him once he cools down.

Lauren: I mean, the crazy thing is is that we just all want what's best, but...

Michael: Mm.

(Knock on door)

Michael: It's okay. (Chuckles) Its okay. Mwah.

Lauren: Who do you think it is?

Michael: Unh-unh.

Lauren: (Chuckles)

Michael: Who is it?

Jana: Jana.

Michael: Jana.

Jana: Hi.

Michael: Hi.

Jana: Hi. Um, I heard about Daisy's baby, so I just thought I'd come check on Lauren.

Lauren: That's really sweet of you.

Michael: I'll let you two have your privacy.

Lauren: Don't you need to see Victor tonight?

Michael: Uh, he can wait.

Lauren: I'm okay. Jana's here.

Jana: I'll stay till you get back.

Michael: (Sighs) Okay. All right, I will be right back.

Lauren: Okay, bye.

Michael: Mwah.

Jana: (Sighs) I ran into Daniel.

Lauren: Oh.

Jana: And he is in quite a shock.

Lauren: Yeah. (Chuckles) I think we all are. You know, my biggest fear is that concern for this baby is gonna turn into sympathy for Daisy. And that is why, Jana, our testimony is more important than ever. We have got to make people realize what a monster this woman is.

Jana: God, you look really shaken, Lauren.

Lauren: You know, everybody has an opinion about this baby. And I'm fighting with Phyllis and I'm fighting with Kevin, and I just--I-I hate being on opposite sides from the people that I love.

Jana: Well, you know what? You don't need to worry about that, okay? Because I am-- I'm gonna stay here. I'm staying right here with you, okay?

Lauren: (Sighs)

Kevin: A-adoption? How could he? It's his own flesh and blood.

Chloe: It's yours, too.

Kevin: Yeah, well, tell that to Lauren. You know, I don't appreciate Michael cutting me off like that.

Chloe: I think he's just trying to protect her.

Kevin: Well, who's gonna protect this little baby? Nobody is thinking about that. (Sighs)

Chloe: (Sighs)

Kevin: Hey, thank you, by the way, for standing by me. I know you have your own doubts about this whole guardianship thing.

Chloe: Even though we disagree, you know I'm gonna support you.

Kevin: Well, that means a lot.

Chloe: I'll always be on your side.

Jack: Ahh, I'm gonna make myself scarce.

Phyllis: Okay, thanks.

Daniel: Where's Jack going?

Phyllis: Uh, he just thought we needed some privacy. Uh, sit down.

Daniel: (Sighs) (Sighs)

Phyllis: So what a day.

Daniel: Yeah.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Daniel: Worst day of my life.

Phyllis: Yeah. So have you thought about what you want to do?

Daniel: Well, to tell you the truth, all I've really been able to think about is me being a father.

Phyllis: Okay, well, before we get into anything, I want you to consider that baby's welfare.

Daniel: I-I am. I agree. Yeah.

Phyllis: Okay, um, I consulted a lawyer.

Daniel: I-I don't need a lawyer.

Phyllis: Yeah, I talked to Vance Abrams about getting Daisy out of prison just until that baby is born.

Daniel: Wait a second. Why would you do something like that without talking to me first?

Phyllis: Because I needed to figure out what was going on. I needed to know if it was a possibility for--

Daniel: Well, you're wasting your time, all right? I already talked to Daisy. I told her I want her to stay locked up, and then I want her to give that kid up for adoption.

Phyllis: Okay, you-- you may not feel that way in the future.

Daniel: I-I'm pretty sure I will.

Phyllis: Well, I'm pretty sure you won't... possibly. Listen, how many times do you make a decision and then a few months later, "Oh, wow, that--that decision was completely wrong"? How many times has that happened to you? Come on, Daniel. You thought you and Amber were forever, and now look at you.

Daniel: (Clears throat)

Phyllis: You're alone. Give me a break. This is an innocent baby. You gotta keep that in mind.

Daniel: (Scoffs)

Chloe: Look. That's what you're getting Delia for Christmas.

Kevin: That looks pricey.

Chloe: Well, she has very expensive taste.

Kevin: You still have her baby clothes, by the way? I may need them.

Chloe: Okay. So much for taking your mind off of Daisy's baby.

Kevin: (Sighs) Well, it's a long shot anyway. Michael thinks this whole guardianship thing is premature. Daniel wants the baby raised by strangers.

Chloe: Okay, so you're gonna let them stop you? Look, she's gonna pop soon, so if you're really serious about this whole guardian thing, you've gotta find out about it now.

Kevin: What if Daniel changes his mind?

Chloe: Okay, well, then you'll deal with it then. But now maybe you should just find out if it's possible.

Kevin: You're right. You're right. Let's find out.

Lauren: (Sighs) Here you go.

Jana: Thank you.

Lauren: I'm sorry. That wasn't very sensitive.

Jana: What--what was?

Lauren: Well, I brought up Kevin, and... I-I know what it's like when people bring up your ex. And I know that the divorce is recent, and I'm sorry.

Jana: (Sighs) It doesn't bother me. Um... (Stammers) It's... (Sighs) It's obvious that you need to talk about it, so...

Lauren: I just-- I-I-I don't understand where his head is. You know, he wants to raise Daisy's baby all by himself.

Jana: Are you serious?

Lauren: Yeah, uh, very.

Jana: A single man with his history? Hang on. I need you to tell me everything now. I-I need to know.

Michael: Look, we took a risk-- we took a gamble getting the higher court to review Judge Phelps' decision. Now all we can do is wait for the forensic accountants to review your books.

Victor: And then?

Michael: (Sighs) Back to mediation and/or court.

Victor: (Sighs)

Michael: You've had one hell of a week, huh?

Victor: Did I bring you up to date on Meggie McClaine?

Michael: You're lucky you're here to tell the tale.

Victor: Got that right. Some scotch?

Michael: Yes. Yes, I would like some scotch. I have had quite a week myself. Thank you.

Victor: How did Lauren handle Daisy Carter's return?

Michael: Oh, not very well. Oh, and the D.N.A. test confirmed Daniel is the father.

Victor: Oh, boy. That must have caused quite a real turmoil.

Michael: Yeah, everyone has an opinion on how to handle it. And they're all valid, but I need to stand by my wife.

Victor: As you damn well should.

Michael: Then you'll understand what I have to say. I need to cut back on my workload. I need to spend more time with my family. I can't let Lauren think that she's just going through this all by herself.

Ronan: (Clears throat) I see you again.

Heather: (Chuckles)

Ronan: Wow, you canceled your dinner with Rafe to follow me? I mean, you do want to play "Doctor" with me, don't you?

Heather: (Chuckles) Yeah, hardly. Uh, no, actually, I was just leaving.

Ronan: Okay.

Heather: Whoa, Ronan.

Ronan: (Sighs)

Heather: Are you okay?

Ronan: Yeah, I'm fine.

Heather: No, you're not fine.

Ronan: (Sighs) I'm fine. Just back off me, okay?

Heather: You were lying to me before, okay? There's something wrong with you. What is it?

Daisy: I've been taking my vitamins, and the-- the doctor in the hospital said the baby was fine.

Doctor: She is. This is a follow-up now that you're under my care. We'll be seeing a lot of each other.

Daisy: I want a real doctor.

Doctor: I am a real doctor.

Daisy: No. No. I will not have the baby in here. There's gotta be another way!

Doctor: Please stay calm. Your blood pressure is elevating.

Daisy: No, I am not having a baby in jail. It has to be in the hospital! You tell 'em that. I won't! I can't!

Lauren: Kevin was furious. He took it so personally.

Jana: Well, that is because he feels like he identifies with this baby. Oh, God, that poor little thing, being born into this world with s-so much against it. (Sighs) It's-- it's why Kevin probably feels like he can... (Sniffles) Feel for this child. (Sighs) You know him. When he puts his heart into something, it's...

Lauren: Yeah. Yeah. But that is what I'm afraid of. I mean, look at what happened with--with Ryder. We all told him to cut him loose, but he gave him another chance and another chance.

Jana: Yeah, well, family is Kevin's weak spot, isn't it?

Lauren: But Ryder knew that, and he used it against him.

Jana: Yeah, I can only think what Daisy would do.

Lauren: You know, even if Kevin can't get her out of jail, you know--you know that she will twist every loving gesture into a weapon against him.

Jana: Mm. That's why I'm really glad you've told me. This whole guardianship thing is a really bad idea, and, you know, I'm gonna talk to Kevin.

Lauren: Do you think he'll listen?

Jana: Worth a try. He doesn't know Daisy like we do. And he needs to walk away.

Kevin: See? Look. Another one where the uncle gets custody of the kids.

Chloe: Yeah. Where were the parents?

Kevin: Um... mom disappeared. Dad was in jail. So it's not impossible.

Chloe: You're gonna need a really good lawyer.

Kevin: Well, I can't afford much.

Chloe: You know once you do this, your life changes forever.

Kevin: So--

Chloe: I mean, babies come with a lifetime warranty.

Kevin: Are you gonna try and talk me out of this now?

Chloe: No, no. I... it's a huge deal, okay?

Kevin: (Sighs)

Chloe: So if you're gonna do this, you're gonna need people to help you out. And you'll have your mom and Jeff and Katherine.

Kevin: And what if they won't?

Chloe: We'll figure it out.

Phyllis: Daisy will definitely, definitely be in a lockup. It just won't be in prison.

Daniel: Oh, really? Where? Where is she gonna be?

Phyllis: Um, my condo.

Daniel: Oh, my freakin' God.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Daniel: Are you kidding me? I don't want to have anything to do with this girl, and you want to move her into your place?

Phyllis: But you--you want your daughter to carry the stigma of being born in prison for the rest of her life? Is that what you want?

Daniel: (Sighs)

Phyllis: I will be looking after Daisy.

Daniel: (Laughs)

Phyllis: I will be, okay? I will make sure she eats well. I will make sure she goes to the doctor. I will make sure she doesn't hurt that child purposely. I will make sure that child is born in a hospital.

Daniel: Then what happens after that, huh?

Phyllis: Well, I don't-- then what happens after that, you either let the baby go, you put the baby up for adoption, or you keep her. I don't know. It's up to you. But it's about your daughter. It's about your daughter, Daniel. It's not about you. What's best for your daughter? Listen, I'm-- I'm just looking out for you because... (Sighs) I'm just afraid if... you make a decision now, you may end up regretting it.

Daniel: The only thing I regret is coming here to talk to you.

Phyllis: Daniel, come on. Dan--

Jack: I take it that didn't go so well.

Phyllis: Oh, no, it didn't. I'm trying to do right by my granddaughter. (Scoffs) I'm gonna lose my son instead. (Sighs)

Victor: Well, I understand you want to... cut back on your workload. However, I do pay you an exorbitant amount of money to keep you under retainer.

Michael: If this arrangement doesn't work for you anymore, you just say the word.

Victor: (Sighs) Yeah, but... Michael Baldwin, I hate to lose you, for heaven's sake. You've been invaluable to me. What if you, uh, delegate that workload, part of it, to someone else? Bring in another attorney?

Michael: I didn't think anyone else would put up with you.

Victor: Well, it depends on who it is.

Michael: You have anyone in mind?

Victor: What do you think of Heather Stevens?

Michael: Heather?

Victor: Yeah. Seems very smart, very disciplined.

Michael: Could be a good fit.

Victor: Good. If you hire her, don't tell her that the suggestion came from me. Cheers.

Heather: When you're ready, I'll take you to the emergency room.

Ronan: (Quietly) Would you keep your voice down? I'm not going to the hospital.

Heather: Okay, fine. Then, uh, give me the name of your doctor, and I'll give him a call.

Ronan: Would you-- would you listen to me for a second? Do you know what would happen to my career? You're gonna keep your damn mouth shut. Heather, if you tell anyone about this, so help me... this right here at this bar, this never happened. You got me?

Heather: (Sighs)

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Tucker: There's nothin' I hate worse than a suck-up.

Sally: We don't want your money.

Justin: I want my dad back, but you killed him.

Nick: Well, I want to know exactly what you and Jack are up to.
