Kevin: Uh, yeah. I'll bring it to you at a table.
Ronan: Hi.
Chloe: I thought I told you that if you saw me, then you should walk in the other direction.
Ronan: You did. I remember, um, but, uh, if that's the case, then why did you throw my name around when you got arrested?
Kevin: There's a table open right over there.
Chloe: And that arrest was a misunderstanding.
Kevin: No harm, no foul. No charges.
Ronan: Good to know.
Ronan: Yeah, I heard. The new D.A. cut you. He's an idiot.
Heather: As many times as I've been, uh, suspended or let go from the D.A.'s office, this time, it really is over. Oh, God, are you--
Kevin: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Did you get burned? 'Cause I can't afford to get sued.
Heather: Are you-- are you okay?
Ronan: No, no, no, I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. Here, give me that. I've got this. It's good. It's fine.
Nina: Murphy!
Kay: Ah.
Nina: Conquering hero. How are you, Sweetheart?
Murphy: Oh, hey, good to be here.
Nina: Listen, I have a very quick meeting at Crimson Lights, but then when I'm back, I'm parking myself on the couch with you, all right?
Murphy: It's a date.
Nina: Okay. Bye.
Kay: (Chuckles)
Nina: Good-bye.
Kay: Bye-bye. Oh. (Sighs) (Chuckles) (Groans) Can I tell you how grateful I am that you're home?
Murphy: (Chuckles)
Kay: And, uh, may I ask why didn't you ever tell me you had a son?
Lauren: Yes, I did get the pictures, and would you tell Leon I want him to change the hats on mannequin one and four. All right, thanks. Bye. (Sighs)
Michael: It's the busiest season of the year, and you are micromanaging from the couch.
Lauren: (Chuckles) 'Tis almost the busiest season of the year, and you are still busier than I am.
(Cell phone rings)
Michael: Hello, Phyllis. Oh, the test results are in.
Daisy: Are the results in?
Woman: The doctor will be in shortly to give us the news, and then you'll be escorted back to jail.
Daisy: Well, once Daniel finds out this baby really is his, I may never see the inside of that cell again.
Daniel: (Clears throat)
Phyllis: A couple seconds. That's all.
Daniel: Hey, you know what? The sooner we find out Daisy's lying, the sooner I get my life halfway back to normal.
Phyllis: I know. I know.
Daniel: There's no way I'm a father.
Phyllis: No, you're not a father. I'm not a grandmother. Then she'll go back to jail. It's fine.
Daniel: Yeah, good. Yeah. I mean, that's what has to happen. Anything else happens other than that today, then--
Phyllis: It's not going to. Don't worry about it.
Jack: Everybody ready?
Phyllis: Yeah, we're fine.
Daniel: (Sighs) Yeah. Let's do it.
Nina: Ronan, hi!
Ronan: Hey. Hi. Hey, how is Murphy? Is he, uh, did he get back from rehab yet today?
Nina: He is doing so well.
Ronan: The guy's a warrior. He is the reason that Meggie's locked up right now.
Nina: Mm.
Ronan: And I-I just got an update on the case. I'm gonna have to give him a call later about it.
Nina: Well, listen, why don't you do it in person? I've got a quick meeting, but we can go over there together if you'd like.
Ronan: Okay, that works.
Heather: Oh, hey.
Nina: Heather, hi.
Heather: Hi.
Nina: Listen, I'm so sorry about the election, having to step aside. That's awful.
Heather: Oh, yeah, well, nothing like a little public humiliation to keep you grounded... and unemployed.
Ronan: No, no, no, no. Wait a minute. You--you are smart. You are tough. You're a phenomenal attorney. Any firm would be lucky to have you. You--you know what you should-- you gotta hold out. You gotta hold out for the good money and the big title.
Nina: Look at you two. I had no idea.
Heather: Excuse me?
Ronan: What are you talk... oh, you think that--
Heather: (Laughs) Oh, God.
Ronan: (Laughs) No.
Heather: Oh, no. No. There's been a misunderstanding.
Nina: Oh. Oh.
Ronan: No, no. No, no, no, no. That's not--yeah.
Nina: I'm so sorry. I'm--here I am supposed to be a student of human nature. I'm--forgive me, please.
Ronan: (Laughs)
(Cell phone buzzes)
Nina: Excuse me for just a sec. Oh, okay. Well, my meeting is cancelled. We can head over to see Murphy right now if you'd like.
Heather: Oh, uh, how's Murphy doing?
Nina: Why don't you make a good man happy and come see for yourself?
Heather: Sure. It's not like I have an office to go to. Uh, why not?
Nina: Good. All right. Follow me.
Heather: (Chuckles)
Murphy: He was a good kid, Francis. A good man.
Kay: Mm.
Murphy: Boy, watching him grow up was like a-- was just the greatest thing in the world. Then one day I... I watched his life just drain away. Some of my life drained away, too.
Kay: You saw Meggie kill your son?
Murphy: Nah, she didn't pull a gun or anything. There was, uh, an accident, a bad one. Remember I told you about someone whose life support got cut off, and it was a big mistake?
Kay: Your son?
Murphy: Yeah. Betty and I were sure he had more living to do. But... but it wasn't up to us. His wife decided.
Kay: Meggie?
Murphy: Yeah, we pleaded with her, but she didn't care. "No more machines," she said-- quality of life and all that.
Murphy: And then it was over. She took, uh, she took his insurance, and she left town. And Betty never got over it. And Meggie's the reason why Francis and his mom are not walkin' the earth. Katherine, I'm sorry I never told you about Francis, but... (Voice breaking) It still hurts. (Sighs)
Kay: Murphy.
Murphy: (Normal voice) See, now you know why I could never be the one to tell you, "Okay, Girl, time's up." You see?
Kay: Yes, I understand... perfectly.
Kevin: Michael and Lauren are on their way to the hospital. Michael's gonna text me as soon as he finds out whether or not the baby is Daniel's.
Chloe: It's not. It's not. And speaking from experience that I'm not too proud of, a girl can say that just about anyone is the father.
Kevin: Well, we know who the baby's uncle is.
Chloe: And that's important to you.
Kevin: I just think it's gonna be really easy for people to write this kid off as some sort of Fisher/Carter mutant. But that doesn't mean this kid can't have a good life, you know?
Chloe: No, everyone starts off innocent.
Kevin: I just wish this kid had a better shot at life. But with Daisy as its mom? (Scoffs) His chances pretty much blow.
Phyllis: Hey, Daisy. (Sighs)
Daisy: I didn't expect a group.
Phyllis: This is a friend of the family. His name is Jack.
Daniel: (Clears throat)
Daisy: I know. We have a lot to talk about for the baby's sake.
Daniel: Jumping the gun there a little, aren't you, Daisy?
Daisy: No. Um, I've always known the truth. The test results are for you.
Phyllis: (Sighs)
Michael: Oh, hello, Jean.
Phyllis: Hey.
Lauren: Hi.
Jean: Good to see you, Michael.
Phyllis: Um, a-are you sure you want to be here?
Lauren: Uh-huh.
Daisy: You came.
Lauren: Yes, just to watch you go back to jail.
Doctor: I assumed this was between Miss Carter and Mr. Romalotti.
Daisy: Go ahead.
Doctor: Daniel Romalotti is the father of Miss Carter's unborn child.
Phyllis: Oh, are-- are you kidding me?
Doctor: We also determined the baby's sex, if you'd like to know.
Daisy: (Scoffs) Uh, yeah. Sure.
Doctor: You're having a baby girl.
Lauren: So when does she go back to jail?
Daisy: You won't let me go back there now, will you?
Daniel: (Scoffs) I knew it-- that you would exploit that baby that you don't give a damn for to save your own skin.
Daisy: In jail, how am I gonna keep her safe until she is born? A lot can happen in the next few months. I wonder if she'll have your red hair.
Phyllis: Okay, all-- uh, let's just settle down here. Let's talk.
Lauren: Talk about what? Oh, please tell me you're not falling for this.
Daisy: The baby, Daniel. The little girl we made.
Daniel: What do you mean that we made? What--what are you talking about? When you drugged me while your aunt was out trying to murder my mom? Yeah, Daisy, that screams "Happy family," doesn't it? I don't want this crap. I definitely don't want it with you.
Phyllis: Daniel. Daniel!
Jack: No, no, no. I'll go.
Phyllis: Thank you.
Jack: I'll go.
Lauren: What are you doing?
Phyllis: Hey, hey, hey. Relax. Relax. She's not manipulating me. I know who she is. I know what she does. I get it. Oh, my God. (Sighs) This baby's my blood. I can't--I can't believe this. That--that--that baby matters. It's a baby. It's just a-a baby.
Lauren: Yeah, yes. I know. I know the baby matters. But you know what else matters? That bitch locked me in a cage and laughed in my face. I will never, ever feel safe as long as she is out and not locked up.
Michael: Okay, okay, listen. We're done here. Time to call for prison transport. Come on now. We're leaving. Let's go.
Phyllis: Sweetie, what's your plan for this baby?
Daisy: I want to be with her for as long as possible. So I guess... (Sniffles) If that means she's born and raised in jail, then that's where we'll be... together.
Jean: It's time, Daisy.
Daisy: (Sighs)
Daisy: (Sniffles) (Sobs quietly)
Phyllis: (Whispers) Oh, my God.
Kevin: The baby is Daniel's.
Chloe: But Daisy is such a liar.
Kevin: Not about this. It's a girl-- a niece.
Chloe: Wow. (Sighs) She's your family.
Kevin: Yeah, lucky her. Unless somebody is looking out for that kid, she is toast. I need to talk to Daniel.
Chloe: I bet you he's freaking out.
Kevin: Well, when he's done freaking, I need to know that he's gonna put that baby first.
Nina: Hey! I brought your fan club. I hope you don't mind.
Kay: (Chuckles) Oh, Heather, uh, Murphy and I heard about your job.
Murphy: Yeah, bad call.
Heather: Oh.
Murphy: I mean, you're a keeper.
Heather: (Sighs) (chuckles) Well, this keeper made some bad calls of her own, believe me. But we're here to see you. And, um, Ronan has some news.
Murphy: Oh.
Kay: Uh, good news only, please.
Nina: (Chuckles)
Ronan: Meggie has been extradited to Alaska. Turns out that she played widow there, too. The D.A. up there says that they have an airtight case on her, that they will definitely get a conviction, which means that Meggie is gonna be locked up for a long, long time.
Murphy: (Sighs) Well, Francis can rest in peace. And... (Chuckles) Betty, too.
Kay: (Chuckles) Oh.
Nina: I guess Meggie's luck finally ran out, huh?
Kay: I think I'm the luckiest person in the world.
Murphy: Well, you got nothing on me. I mean, here I am still ticking, and I've got you to thank for that.
Nina: (Chuckles)
Kay: Moi?
Nina: (Chuckles)
Murphy: Yeah, I mean, after my heart attack, my stroke-- hey, it was your support that got me through-- just another reason I love you.
Kay: (Chuckles)
Esther: Okay, we have fresh hors d'oeuvres.
Ronan: I'm good at that.
Esther: Cucumbers with lox and curried chicken.
Kay: (Chuckles)
Ronan: Okay.
Esther: Come on. Eat, please.
Heather: Oh. Ooh, sorry.
Ronan: Go ahead.
Heather: Thank you.
Ronan: Uh, so, hey, Murph, when, uh, when are those legs gonna get with the program, huh?
Murphy: Well, that they don't know.
Nina: Yeah, look how far you've come already, though. It's gonna be good.
Kay: Of course, yes. I mean, your speech is improved, your movement, hands, and--and fingers. Come on.
Murphy: Well, listen, I know I've had a gift. I kinda wish I could-- I kinda wish I could spread that gift around.
Heather: Chance.
Kay: Chance would be very proud of what you did. In fact, he would have been very proud of all of you together.
Murphy: You know, maybe it's an age thing, but, you know, you kinda think of the ones that went before you.
Kay: Hmm.
Heather: Well, and I think it got us all thinking, you know, about how quickly everything can be taken away.
Ronan: Hey, look at the time. I've--I gotta run.
Kay: Oh.
Heather: Um, you know, I-I have to meet Rafe for dinner soon. Um, and I left my car at the coffeehouse. Would you mind?
Ronan: So, yes, you can. Come on. Let's go.
Heather: Thank you.
Kay: Um, well, thank you both for coming.
Murphy: Yeah, otherwise, I'd have to beat her at gin, and she hates to lose.
Heather: (Laughs)
Ronan: (Laughs)
Nina: He's right. You should come visit again soon, okay?
Ronan: I'll do that.
Heather: All right, I'm all set.
Ronan: Okay.
Heather: Bye, everyone. Thank you.
Nina: Bye.
Kay: Bye-bye, Heather.
Ronan: (Sighs)
Heather: Oh. Here.
Ronan: Here, I got that.
Heather: Um--
Ronan: Thanks. Appreciate that.
Daniel: (Sighs) Whiskey. (Sighs)
Jack: Scotch, neat.
Daniel: I never should have opened up that door, Jack, the night that Daisy showed up at my apartment when my whole life changed, and I wasn't even conscious. And now I'm gonna have a kid with her? You know, it's like I just got a life sentence shackled to a wack-job.
Jack: Just give it some time. Think before you just write off completely what this child could mean in your life.
Daniel: I don't need time. I need to run.
Jack: In ten years, you'll be wishing you could have the time with that child back.
Daniel: No. No, that's you and Kyle. That's not me and--
Jack: Daniel, all I'm saying is if you could somehow come to accept this...
Daniel: (Sighs)
Jack: It could make all the difference in this little girl's life, and in yours.
Kevin: Hey. (Sighs) I've been trying to track you down. I heard.
Daniel: Yep.
Kevin: So what are you gonna do?
Daniel: I guess that's the million-dollar question, huh?
Lauren: Gloria, thank you so much for keeping Fen overnight. I really appreciate it. Give him extra kisses for me.
Michael: All right, and if you hear anything else that you think I need to know about, you call me, all right?
Lauren: I will. I will. Thank you.
Michael: Thank you.
Lauren: Daisy's locked up?
Michael: She's not going anywhere.
Lauren: (Sighs)
Michael: Oh, look at that. She breathes.
Lauren: Yes, she does, except when she thinks about Phyllis falling for Daisy's head games.
Michael: Phyllis just found out that she's going to be a grandmother. You're lucky you get anything rational out of her for the next, what, two, three months? She's bound to have concerns.
Lauren: You know, Daisy is a bigger threat to that baby than jail is. The whole time I was in that cage, do you know how she just relished telling me that something horrible was gonna happen to Fen? That's who Daisy really is.
(Knock on door)
Lauren: (Sighs) Its okay.
Michael: Hey.
Phyllis: Hi. I figured we should continue our conversation.
Michael: That can happen.
Phyllis: Yeah. Uh, come on. Let's just do it. (Sighs) Listen, Guys... (Sighs) I hate... this. (Chuckles) I hate that I have to mention that woman's name out loud in conversation. I... God.
Lauren: You get it.
Phyllis: Come on. I completely get it. And... (Sighs) Nothing I'm about to say is for her sake. Please understand that. This is my son's baby. (Scoffs) My son's baby. I mean, never mind who's going to, you know, take care of her and raise her. I mean, I haven't even thought about that yet. But, um, Guys, this baby deserves to grow and be born in a safe, clean environment, and that's not jail.
Lauren: It's--it's not jail? Are you saying you want Daisy to go free?
Phyllis: No, I'm not saying that, Lauren. Please listen to me. I will be on her 24/7 making sure that she takes care of her body, and she stays away from you and you and anyone else she's a threat to.
Lauren: You want Daisy to live with you?
Phyllis: (Sighs) I don't want Daisy to live with me. (Sighs)
Michael: Then what, Phyllis? Make us understand. What?
Phyllis: I am trying... (Sighs) To understand this myself. Listen, I-I just want Daisy to be someplace safe where she can't hurt that baby, and--and she can't hurt anybody. Guards--guards, security, everything. All right, just for a few months until the baby is born. That's it.
Lauren: (Scoffs)
Michael: Well, your concern for the child is admirable, but pregnant inmates carry healthy babies to term all the time.
Phyllis: Really? Are you just gonna sit there and listen to me while I tell you that my grandchild-- my grandchild... (Sighs) Is gonna be born in a prison? She's gonna know that nobody cared about her. Nobody fought for her.
Lauren: Yeah, and what happens after the birth? What, are you gonna say, "Oh, the baby and the mother, they can't be separated," so Daisy gets a free pass till the baby's 18?!
Phyllis: No, I am not gonna say that. I'm not gonna say that, Lauren.
Lauren: You know what? Daisy gets all innocent and wide-eyed over this baby, that she drugged your son to get, and you're getting all gooey 'cause you're gonna be a grandmother.
Michael: All right. All right. All right. Well, look. Listen. Lauren has a point here.
Lauren: (Sighs)
Michael: Daniel is another one of Daisy's victims. How do we know that he doesn't want her anywhere but behind bars?
Kevin: You were blindsided.
Daniel: Mm. By Sheila Carter and Tom Fisher's evil spawn. No offense.
Kevin: No, no, I hear you.
Daniel: (Sighs)
Kevin: It scares the hell out of me, though, thinking of another kid growing up in that chaos. That can't happen.
Daniel: This kid's not you.
Kevin: Not yet.
Daniel: I just found out about this kid, okay? You want me to get all paternal and protective about it? I can't even assure you that Daisy's not gonna screw it up.
Kevin: I'm not asking for any kind of assurance. I'm just asking that--
Daniel: You're not asking me for anything, because I'm not even here. What you need to do is back off.
Chloe: (Sighs)
Kevin: (Sighs)
Daisy: (Sighs) (Sniffles) (Sighs) (Sighs) Hi. It's me. (Chuckles) And, uh, you... you're a you. (Chuckles) But you can't be. If you're real... (Sniffles) Then I'll want you. And I can't be anyone's mom. (Sighs)
Heather: It's amazing how well Murphy's doing, huh?
Ronan: Yeah, he looked great, didn't he?
Heather: Yeah. What about you? How are you feeling? Uh, that prescription that you--you dropped--
Ronan: Oh, those-- those are anti-inflammatories. I got carpal tunnel.
Heather: Ahh.
Ronan: Uh, hey, enjoy your dinner, okay?
Heather: Thanks.
Ronan: Yeah.
Ronan: Thanks.
Nina: Didn't he look wonderful?
Murphy: Ronan?
Kay: She is doting.
Murphy: Mm-hmm.
Nina: (Giggles)
Kay: It, uh, looks like the two of you are, uh, really building a relationship, even after all those years.
Nina: I am so glad he's in my life. And did you see that little hand thing between him and Heather?
Kay: (Chuckles)
Murphy: (Chuckles) Ahh, doting and matchmaking.
Nina: No, I'm just sayin', mm, you know... okay, you two need some alone time. It is so good to see you. Mwah!
Kay: (Chuckles)
Nina: See you.
Kay: Take care.
Murphy: Yeah.
Kay: Uh, do you need some sleep now?
Murphy: Uh, no, she's right. We need some alone time, and, yeah, I need some sleep, but I need this more.
Kay: Mm.
Murphy: Chewing the fat with my girl.
Kay: (Sighs)
Murphy: Kind of hard back at the hospital. I couldn't even talk. It drove me crazy.
Kay: (Chuckles)
Murphy: And you, too.
Kay: It was difficult. It was, uh, more difficult making the decision the doctors wanted me to make.
Murphy: Whether to put me, uh, on life support?
Kay: I, uh, I knew I went against your wishes that you wanted us to make... or take heroic measures, whatever... that may have been, but I don't know, just to see you lying there, um, the thought that... I don't know, that you would never wake up again-- no more fishing, no more jokes, no... no more lodge meetings. Darling, I... I-I-I just-- I couldn't see you as that man that's reduced to a life like that, in the hospital, just day in and day out. I... I wanted you to go with dignity and respect, the very things you deserve. I didn't even know about Francis, and--and had I known, I-I don't know that my decision would have been different. You know... (Sighs) I did what I did out of love, not like Meggie and--and your son. I was willing to let you go, but it was only out of love.
Murphy: (Sighs)
Chloe: We saw Daniel storm off, so I guess that things went really well.
Kevin: There is going to be a real, live person that needs help soon. I know that he is just going through his own thing right now.
Jack: W-well, listen, he's just processing an awful lot. With time, he'll come to thinking about the baby.
Kevin: Where is Phyllis in all this?
Jack: Well, I'm about to go find that out. But my guess is, we all need time, plenty of time before anyone takes action. I gotta go. See you later.
Chloe: Okay.
Kevin: Time.
Chloe: (Sighs)
Kevin: I mean, I don't know when Daisy is due, but things happen. Babies come early, and people need to be ready.
Chloe: Okay, look, you can't just force him to step up. And believe me, kids are gonna pick up on that sort of thing.
Kevin: Fine then. Not him--me. I'll do it.
Chloe: (Scoffs) You're--you're gonna raise the baby?
Kevin: Yeah. Yeah, I'll raise the baby.
Chloe: Kev, come on. O-okay, that's really, really sweet of you, and very noble, but think about all of the responsibilities. Then times that by, I don't know, a gazillion.
Kevin: You manage.
Chloe: Yeah, but, okay, Delia would be in a corner playing with dust bunnies if it weren't for Billy and my mom.
Kevin: So I would have help, too.
Chloe: You can't do it.
Kevin: Look, Chloe, I mean, I was too late to help Ryder. I never had a chance with Daisy. I mean, maybe everything that my dad put me through was to bring me to this place so that I would be the one to realize this kid needs someone who's gonna care about her.
Chloe: And all that sacrifice?
Kevin: What? You think I'm crazy?
Chloe: (Sighs) Certifiable. (Sighs) But I'm gonna back you up all the way. I'll--I'll stand by you, of course. (Sighs)
Kevin: Come here.
Phyllis: Okay. Guys, this is not about Daisy.
Lauren: Oh, it's not? It's not? Well, it is to me. And for you to ignore that really upsets me.
Michael: All right, all right, all right, all right. All right, please, let's just stop it. We're talking in circles. Now, Phyllis, I asked you about Daniel.
Phyllis: Oh, you know Daniel despises Daisy. You guys know that. He never asked for any of this. But someone has to think straight until he can.
Lauren: (Sighs) Look, I feel for this baby as much as you do. I really do. And in fact, I can't wait till Daisy gives birth and she is taken from her and placed in the best home possible. But until that time, I don't think that Daisy should get a free pass because she was conniving enough to get pregnant.
(Cell phone rings)
Michael: Oh, just answer that, please.
Lauren: Please!
Phyllis: (Scoffs) Hey, Jack.
Jack: Hey, where are you?
Phyllis: Yeah, um, I'm just leaving Michael and Lauren's. I'll meet you at the club.
Jack: I'll see you there.
Phyllis: Okay. All right, well, um, thanks for hearin' me out. This was great. I'll talk to Daniel and get back to you.
Michael: Phyllis, our position's not gonna change.
Phyllis: Yeah, I can see that.
Lauren: Please tell me that she can't win.
Michael: No. No, I won't let it happen. I'll make sure Daisy's had her last taste of freedom.
Daniel: What do you want?
Daisy: (Sighs) What?
Daniel: You came here, and you dropped this at my feet. Why?
Daisy: (Sighs) Well, at first, it was 'cause I couldn't run anymore. I'm getting too big. And I was scared. But today--
Daniel: Today? Today when you officially ruined my life?
Daisy: Yeah, today. I realized that with this baby comes an amazing opportunity. But it starts with you.
Kay: Are you angry with me?
Murphy: Well, you know how I felt about the D.N.R.s and all that, but you made up your own mind.
Kay: That I did.
Murphy: Yeah, you-- you figured you knew best. (Chuckles) Katherine, it's-- it's who you are. I knew that the day I married you. How am I supposed to stay mad at that?
Kay: (Chuckles) Do you forgive me?
Murphy: (Chuckles) Well, you know, it's a good thing I woke up when I did. Otherwise, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Kay: (Laughs)
Murphy: (Laughs)
Kay: (Sighs)
Murphy: But I know how hard it was for you to let me go. I mean, it wasn't a piece of cake.
Kay: God, no. Sheer agony. Agony.
Murphy: But here we are now... together.
Kay: Mm.
Murphy: For as long as we have. You know, when I lost, uh, Francis and Betty, I thought, oh, God, that was-- that was gonna be the end of me.
Kay: (Chuckles)
Murphy: (Chuckles) And then I found you on that riverbank. (Sighs)
Kay: Mm, saved my life.
Murphy: And you saved mine.
Kay: Mm.
Murphy: Let's just-- let's forget about all the-- all the rest, uh, pullin' the plugs and the wills. All I know is, I love you.
Kay: I love you, too.
Ronan: Why don't you just leave the file on my desk? Yeah, okay. Well, you're running a little late for your dinner with Rafe.
Heather: (Sighs) I, uh, I looked up that medication online. It's not for your wrist, is it? You're really sick, aren't you?
Lauren: Hey. Have you guys seen Daniel?
Chloe: Uh, that's why we're here.
Kevin: What steps do I have to take to become the baby's legal guardian?
Jack: (Sighs)
Jack: So how you holdin' up?
Phyllis: Oh... how's Daniel? D--have you seen him? Where is he?
Jack: He's surviving. He bolted Gloworm, needed some time alone to think. How'd things go with Michael and Lauren?
Phyllis: (Scoffs) Horrible. Can you believe this situation? This is insane. The complicated, awful... (Sighs) Somebody has to think straight. I mean, prison? That's no place for a baby to be born.
Jack: Well, I-- what do you have in mind?
Phyllis: (Stammers) Daisy on lockdown, 24/7. On lockdown, someplace clean where there aren't criminals walking around everywhere. But Lauren--oh, God, no, no. She can't have that. Michael backs her up. (Sighs) You know, going up against my best friends is hell. But going up against a shark like Michael... legally... what am I gonna do? How do I win?
Jack: I got two words for you, babe-- "Vance Abrams."
Daisy: Yeah, everyone hates me, but I had clean sheets and decent food, even if it was just for a little while.
Daniel: That wasn't a favor for you. That was for--
Daisy: The baby, right? Exactly. See, people care about what happens to her. And with you and Phyllis in her life--
Daniel: No. No, no, no, no, no. I am not a part of her life or yours. You get that through your head. You know, the doctors, they need my medical history? Fine. They can have it. Some kind of medical problem comes up, and I'll help cover the cost. But once you deliver, adoption. Because you can't raise a kid in lockup, and I'm not about to start playing daddy. And you know what? There are plenty of loving and law-abiding people out there that would love to have a baby. So if you want to give this kid a chance at a normal life, then that's what you have to do. That's the only way.
