Episode # 9395 ~ Patty's Desperate Threat

Provided By Eric
Proofread By Emma

Jack: Oh, my God. Sh-she Emily?! Can you hear me? Emily.

Emily: I...

Jack: What did Patty do to you? Oh, God.

Emily: Need...

Jack: Nee-need what?

Emily: Adren... adren...

Jack: Adren--adrenaline. She needs adrenaline.

Doctor: We haven't got any here. This is a morgue.

Jack: Well, find some! Quick, before she does die. Emily, Emily, you hang in there, Baby. Hang in there, Sweetie. Hang in there. I'm right here. I'm right here. Hang in there.

Patty: Pauly? Please, I'm begging you. Please?

Paul: I can't help you escape, Patty. I can’t.

Patty: But I meant what I said. I... I'll go away, and you never have to see me again. I swear it, Pauly.

Paul: Patty, I know you're in pain. And you know what? If I could go back and change it all, I would do it in a heartbeat. I would.

Patty: But you don't have a time machine.

Paul: No, you're right. I-I don't have a time machine. Listen, Sweetheart. You need to be somewhere where people can take care of you, okay?

Patty: Okay, I understand. (Sighs)

Paul: That's my girl. You understand?

Patty: Yeah. It's not right for you to let me go. (Sighs) But there is another way for me to leave. (Sighs) (Sniffles)

Paul: What do you mean?

Heather: She's not talking... (gasps) Oh!

Patty: Okay, stay back.

Heather: No, no, no, no, no. You don't--you don't have to--

Patty: Just stay back.

Heather: You don't have to do this.

Paul: Patty, don't do this. Patty.

Patty: I'm not gonna stay here anymore, Pauly, and be caged up like an animal.

Paul: Listen to me. Just listen. Look at me.

Patty: No more. No more, Pauly.

Heather: No, stop.

Paul: It doesn't have to be like this. Patty, stop.

[Victoria remembering]

Victoria: (Sighs)

Victoria: (Sighs)

Victoria: You had to tell me through my lawyer? You didn't have the guts to face me?

J.T.: Look, this isn't how I wanted you to find out. I was gonna tell you myself.

Victoria: You want full custody of Reed? Go to hell! Don't be so sanctimonious, acting like my dad is some evil puppeteer that's trying to poison reed's mind.

J.T.: Well, he's poisoned yours. What happened to you, Victoria?

Victoria: You can't stand it that I have the power and the money and the success that you don’t. You know what? You're nothing compared to the Newmans, and you're trying so desperately to prove that you're something.

J.T.: I don't need to prove anything. I've made my own success without the help from anyone, unlike you. You can't even manage to be a decent mother. (Gasps) (Sighs)

Victoria: I am a good mother.

J.T.: (Sighs)

Victoria: And I am coming at you with everything that I have to get my son back.

J.T.: That's supposed to scare me?

Victoria: It should.

(Cell phone rings)

Victoria: Hello? Oh, hey, Julia, what's up? The hearing for my appeal is tomorrow? No, no, that's great. That is absolutely great. The sooner, the better.

(Cell phone rings)

(Ring)

J.T.: Wow, uh, that was, uh...

Mac: Unexpected.

J.T.: Look, I-I didn't mean to, um...

Mac: No, no, me--me, either.

J.T.: (Sighs) But we did.

Mac: Yes, we did.

J.T.: What's up with that?

(Doorbell rings)

Cane: Hey.

Olivia: Hey, bad time?

Cane: No, come in.

Lily: Hello.

Olivia: Hi there.

Lily: Hi. I was looking at a picture of your grandniece and nephew.

Olivia: (Gasps) A boy and a girl?

Cane: Yeah, can you believe it, huh?

Olivia: Can I take a look?

Lily: Yes, of course.

Olivia: (Sighs) Last time I saw babies this cute was when you and Nate were born.

Lily: (Chuckles)

Cane: Mm. And they're still tadpoles. You wait to see how beautiful...

Olivia: (Chuckles)

Cane: They are when they debut.

Olivia: Mm-hmm.

Lily: And that is why I am more determined than ever to be here when they're born.

Olivia: Well, that's actually why I stopped by.

Lily: Uh, something to do with my cancer?

Olivia: Well, after the last time we spoke, I looked deeper into using stem cells from the babies' amniotic fluid.

Cane: And what'd you find out?

Olivia: That there's a clinical trial about to begin, and it took some persuading, but they have agreed to put Lily in the test group.

Cane: Hey.

Olivia: I thought you guys would be thrilled.

Lily: No, no, I-I... I am. I mean, we are. I-I just... (Sighs) It's all happening so fast.

Cane: Well, I-is she already approved for the study?

Olivia: Well, I want you to know that there are no guarantees that it'll help her.

Cane: Okay, but there's still a chance, right?

Olivia: Yes.

Cane: Okay, all right. So a long shot's better than no shot at all, don't you think? Hey.

Lily: (Sighs)

Mac: It's not like we haven't kissed before, and it's been an emotional night for you.

J.T.: Right. Right. Yeah. But I, uh, I don't normally run around kissing people because I've had a stressful evening.

Mac: (Sighs) Good to know.

J.T.: You know, you would be crazy to be interested in me-- a guy in the middle of a divorce and a custody battle.

Mac: Well, you would be crazy to be interested in your friend the walking incubator.

J.T.: Well, I am feeling a little bit crazy tonight.

Mac: I should go. I should go.

J.T.: Yeah, uh, well, you don't have to, I mean, unless you, you know, unless you want to.

Mac: Well, I have prenatal yoga.

J.T.: Yeah, you don't want to miss that.

Mac: No. No, so, um, I will--I'll see you and Reed later.

J.T.: That's the closet.

Mac: Right. I know. Right.

J.T.: Good night, Mac.

Mac: Good night, J.T. (Sighs)

Olivia: You know that this study is highly experimental.

Lily: Yeah, o-of course.

Olivia: Now while stem cell treatment for ovarian cancer hasn't been proven as a cure, I think it's an avenue we should take, 'cause it'll buy you more time.

Cane: Look, I get you, uh, you don't want to build up our expectations.

Olivia: Well, I can tell you that a handful of patients may have had their lives extended roughly 6 to 12 months. And if that can happen to you, then you'll be in a stronger place for your next round of chemo.

Lily: And the chemo could cure my cancer.

Olivia: Exactly.

Cane: Well, um, whatever happens, you've been a Godsend.

Olivia: Hey, Buddy, we're talking about my favorite niece here.

Lily: (Sighs) Thank you.

Cane: Oh.

Lily: What?

Cane: Uh, I have to go. I have to pick up our dinner.

Lily: Okay, go. It's fine.

Cane: All right, fill me in later, okay?

Lily: Okay.

Cane: I love you. Bye.

Lily: Bye. (Sighs)

Olivia: (Sighs) I know it's a lot to absorb.

Lily: I am just very grateful that you fought to get me in that study.

Olivia: Well, when I heard about your latest PET scan, I was devastated for you.

Lily: Yeah, I-I knew that... (Sighs) You know, the odds were against me. But I still decided to do the chemo. And then to hear that I had to do another round, and that I might not survive it...

Olivia: I'm so sorry.

Lily: (Sighs) You know, even knowing that it could kill me, I-I still decided to go ahead and do it, and now because of you, I'm feeling more hope than I have in a while.

Olivia: Come here.

Lily: (Sighs) Thank you. (Chuckles)

Paul: Give me the syringe. Patty.

Heather: Wait, Aunt Patty. Plea--you don't-- you don't want to do this.

Patty: Pauly, don't come any closer. Don’t. I'm gonna be dead by the time you get here, okay?

Paul: Okay. Okay. (Whispers) Go get some help.

Paul: (Normal voice) Don't do this, Patty. So i-i-is that the syringe you used on Emily?

Patty: It's kind of fitting that I die the same way.

Paul: Oh... you didn't kill her.

Patty: But I had to.

Paul: Oh, Patty.

Patty: I had to. No, Pauly. The walls were closing in on me, and--and there couldn't be-- there couldn't be two of us.

Paul: (Sighs)

Patty: And now there won't even be one.

Jack: Emily, wake up. Emily, hang in there, Honey. Emily, it's me. Come on, wake up, Baby. Please hurry. I don't know if she's gonna hang in too long.

(Heart beating)

Emily: (Breathing heavily)

Jack: Oh, thank God.

Emily: (Whimpers)

Jack: Oh, thank God. (Sniffles)

Doctor: I'll--I'll--I'll see if the paramedics are here.

Jack: (Sniffles) Emily? Emily, do you know who I am?

Emily: (Breathing heavily) (Whispers) Jack. Jack, you... you finally came.

Jack: Yes, I finally came.

Emily: (Sighs)

Jack: I'm sorry it took so long.

Emily: (Inhales deeply)

Jack: No, wait, wait, wait. Hey, hey, hey, hey, just take-- take it easy. Take it easy. Easy. Easy.

Emily: (Sighs)

(Alarm wailing)

Emily: What was that?

Jack: That is an alarm. That, I think, is Patty.

Paul: Don't do this, Patty. Please. Please, I don't want to lose you.

Patty: Pauly... (Chuckles) You're such a good big brother, always protective.

Paul: Can--can I sit down?

Patty: Mm-hmm.

(Stool drags across floor)

Paul: Remember when we were kids? Do you?

Patty: (Laughs) Yeah.

Paul: And I built a clubhouse? Do you remember the sign on the clubhouse? It said, "For boys only."

Patty: I do, and you made me an honorary member.

Paul: That's right. I did. (Chuckles)

Patty: (Laughs) You always tried to take care of me, even now.

Paul: It's never gonna change.

Patty: (Sighs) Oh, God, I've caused so much trouble, Pauly.

Paul: I love you. I love you. You know that, right?

Patty: I love you, too, Pauly.

Paul: Okay, so put the needle down.

Patty: No, I've caused too many--too much pain. And, uh, all the people that I've hurt, I just... no. Put 'em all out of their misery. This would--its better this way, Pauly. It's better this way.

Paul: Patty?

Patty: Hmm?

Paul: The syringe is empty.

Patty: I used it up on Emily. (Sighs) But it's all good. It is. 'Cause, um...

Paul: No, Patty.

Patty: An air bubble to the heart will be... will do the trick.

(Knock on door)

J.T.: Mac, hey.

Victoria: I'd like to see Reed.

J.T.: Reed's asleep.

Victoria: Um, well, I won't wake him. I just want to give him a kiss good night.

J.T.: Go ahead.

Victoria: First, can we talk?

J.T.: Talk or argue?

Victoria: (Sighs) I suppose you heard that the custody hearing's tomorrow.

J.T.: Look, if you've come here to try and intimidate me one last time, then--

Victoria: I'm not here to threaten you, all right? Just the opposite.

Cane: Hey.

Mac: Hi.

Cane: Hey, hey, hey. Where you headed? Mwah.

Mac: Hi, um, yoga.

Cane: Mm! You know, I'm really glad I ran into you. Hey, little guys.

Mac: Yeah?

Cane: Yeah. Yeah, Lily and I just got some really exciting news.

Mac: Okay, what is it?

Cane: Uh, Olivia's got her into some sort of really experimental trial, and they're over at the house, and they're talking about it.

Mac: That's great.

Cane: Yeah, yeah, I think it's the miracle we're hoping for. Apparently, what they're gonna do is use maybe the stem cells from the babies.

Mac: From--from the babies?

Cane: Yeah.

Mac: How--how--when?

Cane: Um, I don't know. Uh, I just found out, ran out the door, got some food, and I'm going back. Why don't you skip yoga? Come with us. We'll find out together. Come on.

Mac: Yeah, no, I think-- I think that's a-a great idea. I have questions.

Cane: All right, come on.

Olivia: I believe this study is an incredible opportunity.

Lily: Yeah, I-I know that you wouldn't have suggested it unless you'd done a ton of research, so...

Olivia: I just believe this is your best bet.

Lily: (Sighs) Yeah, now, um, you mentioned before that taking stem cells from the twins before they were born, there could be some possible risks involved?

Olivia: Well, that's true, but it's very minimal.

Lily: Okay, well, I-I just need to hear a lot more of that before I-I can commit.

Paul: Patty, do you know how glad I am to have you back as my sister?

Patty: You'll realize once I'm gone, you're better off without me.

Paul: No.

Patty: Mm.

Paul: That's not true. I missed you when I thought you were Emily. She kept trying to push me away. I didn't understand it. It hurt my feelings. It--it--it felt like you didn't want me there.

Patty: (Sighs) Oh, I'm sorry. (Sighs) I wanted so much to confide in you.

Paul: Yeah, but you couldn't, right? Because you would have blown your cover.

Patty: Yeah. (Sighs) Well, I... I... Pauly, I've done such horrible things. I've committed sins of... (Sniffles) I can’t. I can’t.

Paul: Okay, then all you have to do is... is ask for penance and forgiveness. 'Cause you see, what you're contemplating here is not an option. That is not an option.

Patty: Okay, why don't you just stop? I don't want--I don't want-- I don't want to go there. I don't want to talk about it. No more, okay? No more, Pauly.

Paul: Do you know what Todd said when you tried to take your life the first time?

Patty: What?

Paul: He told me he-- he didn't believe it. He couldn't believe it because the Patty he knew had too much faith.

Patty: Maybe I used to, Pauly, but not anymore.

Paul: No.

Patty: No.

Paul: It's still there, Patty. Believe me. Trust me. It is still there. Don't turn your back on your faith now, not when you need it most. Your faith will give you the strength. (Voice breaking) Trust me. You just can't see it right now.

Patty: Pauly.

Paul: Please?

Patty: Pauly. (Laughs)

Heather: Oh, my God, what happened?

Jack: Patty tried to kill her. Uh, I got there just in time.

Dr. Jasper: Oh, thank goodness you're all right.

Jack: What's going on in there?

Emily: Is, um, Patty, is she--

Heather: She--she says she's gonna kill herself.

Jack: Is someone with her?

Heather: Yes, my dad, and he's trying to talk her down.

Jack: Dr. Jasper, you're her doctor. What--what's going on? What are the police doing here?

Heather: No, but she has a syringe, and I was afraid if everybody rushed in at once, they wouldn't get to her in time. You were her doctor. Maybe if you talk to her, you--

Jack: Wait. No, no, no. Emily is going to the hospital.

Emily: Jack, no, I need to see her.

Jack: After what she did to you?

Emily: Because of what she did to me.

Paul: In your heart and your soul, you know what you have to do.

Patty: I'm not sure I have a soul anymore, Pauly. I can't believe I-- I killed a woman in cold blood. I-I killed her.

(Door opens)

Patty: (Sighs) Y-you're not...

Emily: (Sighs) Your plan didn't work, Patty. I'm still alive.

Patty: (Sobs) Full of this. You should be dead.

Emily: I almost was, Patty.

Paul: Maybe you should go.

Patty: No. No. No, they already hate me. Now you finally can get rid of me, huh? (Chuckles)

Jack: That is not something we ever wanted.

Patty: Liar.

Heather: Put the syringe down, Aunt Patty.

Jack: Enough people have been hurt, Patty. Don't make it worse.

Patty: (Gasps)

Paul: Sweetheart--

Patty: You stay away.

Paul: Please?

Patty: Mnh-mnh.

Paul: Okay.

Patty: You can't take back what you said to me, Jack.

Jack: What I said?

Patty: How I was cold when you touched me. How it gave you the creeps to hold me.

Jack: Patty, I said those things to get a reaction out of you, to make sure it was you.

Patty: But all I ever wanted from you was for you to love me. I mean... (Sighs) Oh, God! You never loved me, Jack. You loved everyone else. You loved Diane and Phyllis and--and--and Sharon, and now you. (Chuckles) He said-- he said that he loved you, that you were-- you were the one that--that-- that--that he loved the most. Well, now you can have him. He's all yours. So just say it. Say you want me dead. Come on, Emily, say it!

Emily: That's the last thing I want.

Patty: (Sobs)

J.T.: You warned me you were gonna do whatever it takes to get Reed back, including using your rich and powerful daddy's connections and now... (Chuckles) You're here to make peace.

Victoria: Is that such a bad thing?

J.T.: Look, if you're trying to get me to let my guard down, it's not gonna work.

Victoria: I'm not. Look, neither one of us knows...

J.T.: (Sighs)

Victoria: How the judge will rule tomorrow... if one of us is gonna end up with full custody of Reed, or if we're gonna share custody, but things need to change between us.

J.T.: Well, you've sure done an about-face on this.

Victoria: (Sighs) Listen, I'm so sorry. I'm not proud of the way that I behaved earlier, but I was really, really angry with you.

J.T.: Oh, really, yeah. I-I got that.

Victoria: But I was also mad at myself. Look, you and I promised to keep things civil for our son's sake.

J.T.: Well, it takes two.

Victoria: It wasn't that long ago that we loved each other, J.T.

J.T.: I haven't forgotten.

Victoria: But just because we can't make things work between us doesn't mean that we should treat each other like the enemy. The one that's suffering the most here is Reed. So what do you say we make a pact, and we agree to stick to it, and we start putting Reed first?

Mac: Cane told me about the stem cell trial.

Olivia: Good. You're a big part of it.

Mac: I want to know how it would affect the babies.

Lily: Yeah, um, so do I.

Olivia: Well, you've heard of amniocentesis, right?

Cane: Yeah, yeah. What about it?

Olivia: Well, the procedure's the same when we're harvesting stem cells.

Mac: How is it-- how is it done?

Olivia: Well, we withdraw a certain amount of the amniotic fluid by inserting a needle through the abdominal wall and uterus.

Cane: Ouch.

Olivia: (Chuckles) Don't worry. The patient is kept very comfortable.

Lily: So, um, what are the risks to the babies?

Olivia: Well, there are complications with any medical procedure.

Lily: Including death?

Olivia: The odds of something going wrong are roughly 1 in 200. That necessarily doesn't mean worst-case scenario. It includes other things, like infection, problems that we can deal with.

Lily: Well, I-I'm sorry. Isn't Mac kind of far along for something like this?

Olivia: Well, it's a little higher risk when it's later in the pregnancy, and with twins, there's less room to maneuver.

Mac: So, um, by... by trying to save Lily's life, we could lose the babies?

Victoria: Well... (Sighs) You used to believe that I was a-a good mother.

J.T.: I know you love Reed.

Victoria: It's just that lately, I feel like I can't do anything right were he's concerned.

J.T.: You've gotta understand something. It--it's been one shock after another. I mean, I-I still can't wrap my head around what you and your family did to Adam at the cabin.

Victoria: Well, we were just trying to scare him, J.T.

J.T.: Yeah, well, and then he turns up dead? And you and your brother and y-your dad take turns being arrested?

Victoria: None of us are guilty.

J.T.: And then shortly after that, I find out about Billy.

Victoria: Billy? (Sighs) Billy's just a friend.

J.T.: Well, look, you know, what really tore me up was finding Reed at that police station right after we agreed to keep him away from this murder investigation.

Victoria: I... (Sighs) I explained how that happened.

J.T.: I'm constantly being caught off guard here. You grew up with this craziness. I didn’t.

Victoria: Well, you want to know something? What hurts is... before you even give me the chance to explain, you just twist everything around, and you try to use it against me, and it’s...

J.T.: Fine, I mean, I... I'll try to be less judgmental. But you're gonna have to meet me halfway.

Victoria: How?

J.T.: Look, if something happens that's gonna affect Reed, let me know. Give me a heads-up. Don't let me get blindsided.

Victoria: All right. (Sighs) All right, I'll try.

J.T.: I mean, nothing's gonna change if we don't start working together.

Victoria: Right. (Sighs) I'm gonna go see him now, okay?

J.T.: All right.

Olivia: Now before you start freaking out...

Lily: Well, it's too late.

Olivia: The overall risks to the children are much lower than what I stated in my statistics.

Cane: And why is that?

Olivia: Because Mac's procedure would be done by one of the most skilled Ob/Gyns in the state.

Mac: But something could still go wrong.

Olivia: Well, theoretically, yes, it--

Mac: I could miscarry.

Olivia: But it's highly unlikely.

Mac: But I've miscarried in the past. Um, years ago. It was--it was early on, but it was still traumatic, and going through something like that again, I...

Lily: (Clears throat)

Olivia: Honey, the chances--it's so slim that that would happen again.

Mac: I'm sorry. I wasn't prepared for this.

Lily: No, it--I-it's fine. I mean, we are just now hearing all of this, too.

Mac: I need time to think.

Patty: (Inhales shakily) How could you not want me dead?

Paul: Nobody wants that, Sweetheart.

Heather: No, of course not.

Emily: Patty, I'm not angry with you.

Patty: I-I-I put you in the nuthouse. I-I-I married your fiancé, and I almost killed you. And you don't want payback?

Emily: Despite what you think, I care about you.

Patty: Oh, Dr. P., then you're crazier than I am. (Laughs)

Emily: You were my patient, Patty.

Patty: No, I was your worst nightmare.

Emily: No, I understand why you did the things you did.

Patty: You do?

Emily: Oh, Patty, you were fragile. When you found out about Jack and me, it just spun you out of control.

Patty: When I found out about you and Jack getting engaged, it was like a knife through my heart.

Emily: Everything that has happened up until now, Patty, Jack and I are as much to blame as you are. And I really, really hope that one day, you will forgive me.

Patty: Forgive you?

Emily: For betraying your trust, setting this whole thing in motion. Patty, listen to me. I am deeply, deeply sorry. You are not a bad person. You have an illness, and you have to stop punishing yourself, okay? Life is too precious to end it over something that you couldn't help.

Patty: You mean it? (Gasps) (Sniffles)

Emily: With all my heart.

Patty: (Sobs) (Gasps) (Moans) (Sobbing)

Paul: It's okay.

Emily: (Gasps)

Jack: (Grunts) I gotta get her to the hospital.

Paul: You'll be fine. You'll see.

Heather: Mm. You can finally breathe again.

Paul: I thought my sister was gonna kill herself right in front of me. You know, if Emily didn't show up, I would--

Heather: I know, but she did. It's over.

Paul: Kind of.

Heather: Mm-hmm.

Paul: Um, I saw you talking to one of the cops. What's going on?

Heather: Uh, yeah, they're-- they're moving Aunt Patty to the local jail... solitary confinement.

Paul: Yeah, that's what I figured.

Heather: They'll-- they'll hold her there until they can address the new charges against her and decide where she should be moved permanently.

Cane: You know, I, uh, I do understand why Mac was overwhelmed.

Lily: Thank you. I mean, I'm pretty overwhelmed myself.

Cane: Yeah.

Olivia: I know it's a huge decision. But I believe that retrieving stem cells is a calculated risk worth taking.

Cane: You really feel that strongly about it?

Olivia: I wouldn't have presented the option if I didn’t. Now I understand where you guys are coming from. And if the odds of something going wrong were 10 million to 1, I know you'd be thinking about the 1.

Lily: Well, we just... need to think it through.

Olivia: Keep in mind, we're on a deadline.

Lily: You said the study is beginning soon?

Olivia: I'll call the person in charge and see if I can get your spot held a little while longer.

Cane: (Sighs) Thank you. Thank you.

Olivia: I just want you to be aware that these placements are in demand. So if you want to proceed, I'll need your answer soon, or we may not have that option.

Lily: (Sighs)

Victoria: Funny how he sleeps with his arms thrown up...

J.T.: Yeah.

Victoria: Over his head like when he was a little baby.

J.T.: Like he's signaling "Touchdown!"

Victoria: (Chuckles) Yeah, it's cute.

(Key turns in lock)

J.T.: Hey.

Mac: I knocked. I guess you didn't hear me.

J.T.: Yeah, we were, uh, checking on Reed.

Victoria: Do you have a key? Have you been spending the night when my little boy is here?

Mac: No, I just got it tonight.

J.T.: Look, I gave her a key because she helps out with Reed sometimes.

Victoria: And I'm just now finding out about it?

J.T.: Victoria, don't do this.

Victoria: No, don't, what? I want to know what the hell is going on. How often has she been helping you out with my son?

J.T.: It's not what you think.

Mac: I pick Reed up from school sometimes.

J.T.: She watches him if I'm running late at work.

Victoria: You told me you weren't seeing anybody.

J.T.: I'm not.

Victoria: (Scoffs) Look, I know that you two have been spending a lot of time together, but I didn't realize that she was playing mommy to my son.

J.T.: You're being ridiculous.

Victoria: Oh, no, I'm not. You're being a hypocrite. You come down on me because I don't tell you things about Reed, and you don't think that having a girlfriend qualifies?

J.T.: She's not my girlfriend.

Victoria: Well, she was. And she certainly is making herself at home here. You know what? If you think you can take my place in Reed's life, you'd better forget it, 'cause it's not gonna happen. I'll see you in court.

J.T.: Sorry about that. You didn't know what you were walking in on.

Mac: What did I walk in on?

J.T.: Well, for a moment, Victoria and I were trying to put things in perspective. That's all it was-- a moment. Now it's gone.

Cane: Do you want me to heat up dinner? You know, you're really quiet.

Lily: (Sighs) Well, I'm just thinking.

Cane: And what does your gut say?

Lily: (Scoffs) I'm with Mac.

Cane: (Sighs) Okay. Okay.

Lily: What, you think that we should do it?

Cane: Yeah. Yeah. You heard what Olivia said. The risk of something going wrong is slim.

Lily: Yeah, but they still exist. Cane, Mac is carrying the only two babies that we can ever have together.

Cane: Right, they're babies that need their mother.

Lily: Yeah, and because I'm their mother, I have to put them first.

Cane: All right, look. You know, I've got this... this picture--it's in my head-- of the four of us. You know, we're sitting around the dining table, um, and we're in bed. We're cuddling and reading little stories. We're--we're over at the mantel and we're putting these stockings up for Christmas. You know, we can do all these little things that families do.

Lily: Yeah, I know. I want that, too, but--

Cane: Okay, all right. And tonight, we found out there's a chance that could still happen. How can we not go for this?

Lily: I'm still gonna do the chemo.

Cane: Do you know how dangerous that is? But if you do this stem cell thing--

Lily: Okay, if we do the amniocentesis and Mac miscarries, that would destroy me.

Cane: She is not going to miscarry.

Lily: Cane, you don't know that. What if it happened? What if it happened, a-and then what if this trial doesn't even work for me? Then instead of this beautiful picture that you have of the four of us, it would just be you all alone.

Cane: All right, all right, listen to me. Just listen to me.

Lily: No, listen, Cane.

Cane: All right.

Lily: You have to be here for our kids, even if I'm not.

Jack: No, the doctors want to monitor her for a while, but all indications are she's doing fine.

Paul: Oh, thank God. Jack, listen, um, thank Emily for me, will you? Uh, I'd better go. They, uh, they're gonna want to transfer Patty to the jail.

Jack: Okay. I'll talk to you later.

Emily: Jack.

Jack: Hey, hey. Save your strength.

Emily: No, this can't wait.

Jack: Look, I know you're upset with me because I didn't see the truth sooner.

Emily: No, Patty manipulated you.

Jack: Boy, did she.

Emily: But for you to be fooled that long and live with a woman as husband and wife, it says a lot.

Jack: Honey, you've been through a terrible ordeal. This isn't the time to talk about it.

Emily: Jack, please let me finish.

Jack: All right, go ahead.

Emily: (Exhales slowly) When we got engaged, we didn't know each other. And if we truly loved each other, you would have realized that Patty was not me. And... I wouldn't have been locked up and pleading for my life, for help to-- somebody help me.

Jack: Maybe I didn't know every detail of your life at the time...

Emily: (Sighs heavily)

Jack: But I promise you, I would never have asked you to marry me if I wasn't madly in love with you.

Emily: I'm sure you thought you were, Jack.

Jack: Look, you've been through a lot. Why don't we talk about this when you come home?

Emily: I'm not coming home, Jack.

Paul: It's gonna be okay. You know what's happening, don't you? They're just gonna take you someplace new for a while.

Patty: (Sighs) It's been forever since we've been to the lake. That's my favorite thing to do with you, Pauly.

Paul: I know it is.

Heather: Paul's told me stories about those times. It sounds wonderful.

Patty: I finished my homework. Can we go now, please? It would make me so happy.

Paul: That's all I ever wanted for you, Pattycake-- to be happy.

Dr. Jasper: It's time to go.

Heather: (Sighs)

Paul: (Sighs)

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Tawny: Tell her to get her butt right back here and bring that boy, or I am callin' the police.

Nikki: If you and J.T. are meant to be together again, you will be.

J.T.: You want me to spy on Victoria's company?
