Adam: (Groans) (Sighs) (Sighs) (Sighs)

Sharon: Morning.

Adam: Listen, um, about that, uh, that thing I said last night-- the three words I blurted out--

Sharon: You know what? That's, um, let's not talk about anything too serious right now. I need a cup of coffee first.

Noah: Ma, are you up? It's late.

Sharon: Noah, I'll be downstairs in a minute, okay?

Noah: Okay.

Adam: (Whispers) That was close.

Sharon: You know what? Stay here. Noah doesn't need to know about this.

Adam: Uh, yes, let's not complicate things.

Sharon: Yeah, I-- it's nobody's business but ours.

Nick: Thank you.

Phyllis: It's hot.

Nick: Yes, it is.

Phyllis: (Chuckles) Is that work?

Nick: Yeah, busy day.

Phyllis: Really? Are you up for it? You know, after yesterday?

Nick: I'm fine. You know, I'm better than fine ever since you put up that plaque for Faith.

Phyllis: You know, um, I asked Jack about it, and he said it was fine-- gave his permission.

Nick: Well, I thought it was a great idea.

Phyllis: I called him this morning to thank him. He didn't know that Ashley was gonna be there. He's kinda worried about her.

Nick: She seemed like she was okay.

Phyllis: Yeah, she did. How about Summer? That was kinda crazy.

Nick: (Chuckles)

Phyllis: She was so taken with Faith-- wanting to hold her. It took a lot of courage for you to hold the baby like that after you lost your own.

Nick: I'll always remember the baby that I never got to meet.

Ashley: Hush, little baby don't say a word mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird and if that mockingbird don't sing mama's gonna buy you--

Jack: Ash?

Ashley: Jack?

Jack: Hey.

Ashley: Shh, shh, shh. Shh.

Jack: (Whispering) What are you doing up here?

Ashley: (Whispering) I could ask you the same thing.

Jack: You shouldn't be here alone with the baby.

Ashley: Why not?

Jack: Well, I just don't think you should isolate yourself like this.

Ashley: Well, you come up here all the time when you want to clear your head.

Jack: Well, yeah, I don't have a habit of running away.

Ashley: Okay, wait a minute. That's the old me. I'm fine now.

Jack: Look, why don't you and the baby come back with me? You can leave your car up here. We'll send somebody to get it.

Ashley: (Sighs) I appreciate your concern, Jack, but I don't need to be rescued.

Jack: I just don't think you should be up here alone with the baby.

Ashley: Well, I don't think you should be barging in here and telling me to leave. It's not like it was when I was... not doing very well and you were trying to get me off the ranch with Billy, okay? I'm going to stay, and I would really appreciate it if you'd respect my decision.

(Keys rattling)

Ashley: Shh.

Daniel: (Sighs) You thinking about the grand jury?

Amber: Just-- words are scary, you know?

Daniel: Hey. Hey. I need you to be strong for me, okay? Like you were last night with Ryder. I mean, you were fierce.

Amber: (Sighs) Well, he's definitely hiding something, and deacon's using Ryder to play us.

Daniel: If he is, we'll figure it out. I mean, hell, I got the, uh, smartest damn lawyer in the universe.

Michael: Yes, you do. You ready to go?

Daniel: (Chuckles)

Amber: What are you guys doing?

Daniel: Uh, we're gonna go see Mom and tell her that I got subpoenaed.

Amber: She's gonna go ballistic.

Michael: Mm, safety in numbers.

Daniel: Hey, has anyone else been subpoenaed? Do you know?

Michael: I do.

Victoria: So are you gonna be home in time for Reed's birthday party this afternoon, or--

J.T.: Oh, I don't know. I got a full day. We'll have to see.

Victoria: Oh, um, well, you can stop by for a few minutes, right? I mean, it's your son's birthday party. (Chuckles)

J.T.: Uh, look, I just started a new job, okay? I don't have the same flexibility I had at Newman. Look, uh, you know, if I, uh, if I get home later, we'll celebrate then, right? Save me a piece of cake, huh?

Reed: Okay, Daddy.

J.T.: All right, buddy.

Woman: Happy birthday, Reed. Are you ready for school?

Victoria: Hi, Kathy. All right, you have fun at school, okay?

J.T.: Have a good day.

Reed: Bye, Mommy. Bye, Daddy.

Victoria: All right, bye. I'll see you for your party.

J.T.: See you, buddy.

Woman: Excuse me. Are you Victoria Newman Hellstrom?

Victoria: Yeah. Yes, I am.

Woman: You've been served.

J.T.: (Sighs)

Victoria: (Sighs) I've been summoned to testify in front of the grand jury.

J.T.: For what?

Victoria: The homicide in the alley.

Woman: You look familiar. Is your name Deacon Sharpe?

Deacon: I think if you and I had met, I would have remembered. Yeah, I'm Deacon.

Woman: You've been served.

Deacon: (Stammers) I-- (Groans)

J.T.: (Sighs)

Victoria: (Sighs)

J.T.: Look, hey, it's nothing to be worried about, all right?

Victoria: (Sighs) Are you sure?

J.T.: Victoria, it's gonna be fine, all right?

Victoria: All right.

J.T.: Look, I really got to go to work.

Victoria: Uh, listen, before you take off, I-I think you should know I plan on talking to Nick about going back to work myself.

J.T.: All right, well, uh, I guess our son will have more nanny time.

Victoria: Wait a minute. Is that supposed to be, some, like, backhanded jab at me? Because I can make time for Reed and work at Newman. Well, you used to be able to do the same thing, as I remember.

J.T.: Yeah, well, I have a job now that is a little bit more demanding...

Victoria: Oh.

J.T.: Like you used to.

Victoria: (Sighs) So we can't compromise?

J.T.: Is that what you want? You want to compromise, or do you want to go back to the way things were? Look, I-I-I gotta go, all right? (Sighs) See you later.

Paul: Thanks for coming to see me.

Emily: No, I'm sorry I'm late. I'm on call at the hospital. I assume you want an update on Patty?

Paul: Uh--

Emily: It's just that there hasn't been much progress lately.

Paul: Yeah. Actually, um, I am more concerned that she doesn't lose the gains that she's made.

Emily: I-is there something that's going on that--with her that I don't know about?

Paul: In a word--Jack Abbott. How long have the two of you been dating?

Emily: (Sighs) All right, you know what, Paul? I, uh, I'm not gonna have this conversation with you.

Paul: He is the one who is responsible for her falling apart in the first place years ago. Morally, ethically, I can't believe that you would even think about involving yourself with him.

Jack: L-look, you're taking this all the wrong way. I'm just saying, what if something happened to you up here?

Ashley: (Whispering) Like what's gonna happen?

Jack: Well, like you have an accident, or--or the baby gets ill.

Ashley: Well, I guess I would deal with it, Jack.

Jack: We get almost no cell service up here.

Ashley: Oh, for Pete's sake. You know what? You are like a dog with a bone. You just won't let go. And you know what? You only get worse when your personal life isn't doing that great, seriously. Like Sharon-- its true--you're always trying to rescue Sharon. I suggest that you get your own life in order and then just kind of back away from mine a little bit, okay? A little bit. A little bit.

Jack: (Sighs)

Noah: (Sighs) How's the coffee?

Sharon: It's good.

Noah: Oh. I thought I might have made it too strong. Hmm.

Sharon: No, it's really nice. Honey, thank you so much for making that.

Noah: (Sighs) Am I in trouble?

Sharon: Should you be?

Noah: No, uh, never mind.

Sharon: Noah.

Noah: (Sighs) Well, I mean, you were asleep when I got home. Your light was off. You usually stay up, especially when it's past curfew.

Sharon: Uh, well, it was a holiday.

Noah: You're really not upset?

Sharon: You want me to ground you?

Noah: No, no. Forget it. I gotta go. Bye, Mom.

Sharon: Okay, Hon.

Noah: Mwah! Bye.

Sharon: Bye, Sweetheart. Have a good day.

Adam: Is it all clear?

Sharon: Yeah, he's gone.

Adam: (Exhales) I'm sure you want me out of your hair.

Sharon: Um, no. I-I want you to stay. I mean, unless you have to go...

Adam: No, I-I-I can definitely hang for a little while. Um, but first, I would-- I would really like to clear the air about my late-night confession.

Sharon: Oh, but, you know, Noah left this huge, sticky mess in the kitchen, and--and I really should go and clean out the blender before we get into anything, so I'll be right back.

Nick: Okay, just stay right there. I'll come to you.

Phyllis: What's up with Victoria?

Nick: She's upset. I tell you, it has been one rotten thing after the next for her.

Phyllis: You know what? She could be a great partner on that Chancellor deal now that you're not partnering with Jack.

Nick: That's a pretty good idea.

Phyllis: Yeah.

Nick: I'll think about that. So what do you got today?

Phyllis: Um, shopping with Summer for Reed-- his birthday gift.

Nick: Oh, okay. We doing a birthday dinner with him?

Phyllis: No, no. Just, um, Summer, Reed and their close, personal friends. No grown-ups are allowed.

Nick: And so it begins.

Phyllis: Yeah, it begins.

Nick: Love you. See you later.

Phyllis: Love you.

Nick: Oh, hey, guys.

Michael: Hey.

Nick: You need me for anything?

Michael: No, no. I'm here to see Phyllis.

Nick: All right, later.

Daniel: Hey, Mom.

Phyllis: No, no, no, no. I get--I get--I get nervous when you guys show up on my doorstep unannounced. What's going on?

Sharon: Okay. So, um, breakfast. I could make eggs, or, um, there's leftover primavera.

Adam: You're avoiding me. Come on.

Sharon: No, I'm not.

Adam: Yes.

Sharon: I'm not.

Adam: Just... last night when I blurted out, "I love you"--

Sharon: You know, you don't have to explain that. It--

Adam: No, I-I-- listen, it was just, uh, a-a swept-away, uh, heat-of-the-moment, "My God, she's amazing, I can't believe I'm here with her" blurt. It wasn't a-a deep moment of truth, okay? I didn't mean to scare you. I--what I meant was, I love-- I love being with you. (Sighs) And if--if that-- if that's not a good enough explanation-- (Stammers) And you want to go running away screaming, then I completely understand.

Sharon: No running.

Adam: Or screaming?

Sharon: (Laughs) Not today.

Adam: (Chuckles)

Sharon: Well, thank you for explaining that to me.

Adam: (Sighs)

Sharon: I do feel better.

Ashley: Oh, she's so cute. She drank the whole bottle. She went right back down to sleep, zonked out.

Jack: Lucky kid-- not a care in the world. Listen, you were-- you were right about me. (Sighs) After I left Indigo yesterday, I went out to check on Sharon-- surprise, surprise. I walked in on her kissing another man, a bad man. I-- she was kissing Adam.

Ashley: Adam's not a bad man.

Jack: I know you and I don't agree on him. There's a reason he wore an ankle monitor for months.

Ashley: (Sighs) Adam. (Sighs) I'm not gonna tell you again how terrific he's been to me, all right? Uh, there was a time there where he was the only one I could count on.

Jack: That's because you wouldn't let me in.

Ashley: Because you had an agenda, Jackie.

Jack: What, and you're saying he didn't?

Ashley: Okay, okay. I don't want to vilify Adam. Um, he has turned his life around, and he deserves to have some happiness, and so does Sharon. After what she's been through, Jack-- I mean, y-you never get over the loss of a child. You know that. She needs to have some comfort and companionship.

Jack: Not with Adam, she doesn't.

Ashley: Well, I guess that's Sharon's call, isn't it? And you'll have to accept it.

Jack: (Sighs)

Nick: So you've been subpoenaed.

Victoria: (Sighs) The last thing I want to do is talk about Daniel and Deacon and the stolen painting that wouldn't die.

Nick: Well... (Sighs) At least you're not a murder suspect.

Victoria: Oh, gee, thank you. Thank you. I knew there was a silver lining. Thank you for pointing that out.

Nick: Sure.

Victoria: You're the best.

Nick: So it's the subpoena, then, that's got you so upset?

Victoria: Yeah. What else would it be?

Nick: Well, your husband's got a fancy new job. Maybe you're a little jealous?

Victoria: What? No, I am not jealous. (Chuckles) Maybe I'm a little jealous. (Sighs) It's Reed's birthday, and I have to go shop for his present, and I have to host his birthday party this afternoon while J.T. runs off to his fabulous job, not that I mind these things. I love them. But we used to do them together, and now I'm gonna have to talk about Daniel and-- and this painting, and possibly my affair with Deacon.

Nick: Well, your testimony's confidential.

Victoria: Still, the thought of getting up in front of those jurors and--and having to talk about all the details-- I mean, does everybody really need to be reminded about my personal failings? Really? I'm a stay-at-home mom with a rocky marriage and a tainted public image. This isn't who I'm supposed to be.

Phyllis: (Sighs)

Daniel: They subpoenaed Ryder, too.

Michael: Yes. According to my source, uh, Victoria and Deacon should be subpoenaed today.

Phyllis: That makes me feel so much better, because Deacon and Ryder are such liars, and they're gonna do anything to make him look guilty.

Michael: Huh.

Phyllis: Is this bad?

Michael: The D.A.'s office tries whomever is implicated by the evidence.

Daniel: And that's me, because my fingerprints were on the gun.

Michael: Currently, there's no evidence to connect anyone else.

Phyllis: What are we gonna do?

Michael: Optimum would be to find evidence that leads to the real killer.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Nick: When are you one to just surrender without a fight?

Victoria: You call me "Plucky," I will blacken your eye.

Nick: See, there she is. There's my sister. Look, your husband loves you a lot.

Victoria: (Sighs) Well, I'm glad you think so.

Nick: Look, Vick, he's got a new job. He's excited. It's time-consuming. You know what that's like. And it's not gonna be like this forever. See, you're used to J.T. being this guy who can drop everything, and you being this powerhouse at Newman Enterprises.

Victoria: Sounds good to me.

Nick: Doesn't he get a turn?

Victoria: (Sighs)

Nick: Look, you want my advice? Find something else that makes you happy. You gotta stop focusing on J.T. so much.

Victoria: Like what, Nick? Like what?

Nick: How about the Newman art foundation?

Victoria: I'd much rather come back to work at Newman Enterprises.

Nick: And I would love that, too, but it's just too high-profile for that right now. Now if you would like to go to Asia or Dubai, we could really use you there right now.

Victoria: Oh, wait a minute. I'm useful to you overseas, but not here?

Nick: Just let the S.E.C. stuff settle down, all right?

Victoria: (Sighs) All right. Thank you. Thanks.

Nick: Now I have something else I think you might be interested in-- Katherine is taking 25% of Chancellor Industries public.

Victoria: Oh, yeah. You know what? I heard a rumor about this in New York.

Nick: She asked me if we wanted to buy in.

Victoria: You mean Newman Enterprises?

Nick: Well, I'm thinking you, me and Dad do it-- leave the company out of it.

Victoria: Huh. Well, I'll have to think about that. (Sighs) But right now, I've gotta deal with this grand jury situation. One thing at a time. (Sighs) Thank you for listening.

Nick: Any time, Vick. Everything's gonna get better, I promise.

Victoria: Yeah, sure. You're the best.

Nick: (Sighs)

Phyllis: I-I'm gonna be in that room with Daniel.

Michael: No. No, you're not.

Phyllis: I'm gonna be in the grand jury room. Yes, I am.

Michael: You know the drill.

Phyllis: Yes, I am.

Michael: You learned it during your blackmail trial. The only people allowed in that room are the judge, the D.A. and the person testifying.

Daniel: Wait a minute. You're gonna be in there, aren't you?

Michael: Yeah, I'm gonna be in the next room, and you can stop testimony at any moment to consult me.

Phyllis: How do I protect him?

Daniel: Y-you don't have to protect me. Look, it's not as bad as you think, all right? Ryder, he jerked around the legal system by confessing and then taking it back, and Deacon--well, hopefully, they see through Deacon's crap.

Phyllis: You were already arrested once for that Elkins'

Michael: No, no,. If they had had an ironclad case, that wouldn't have happened. It's all with the record.

Daniel: Look, I-I didn't come here to ask you to save me, okay? I just wanted to tell you face-to-face so you know what's going on.

Phyllis: Well, now you've told me.

Daniel: No, "Well," nothing. "Well," nothing, all right? I'm gonna get out of here before you try to start a fight with me. (Chuckles) See you in the car.

Michael: Mm-hmm.

(Door closes)

Phyllis: Can you help him?

Michael: I'm gonna do everything humanly possible.

Phyllis: I really need you to do more. I need you to be superhuman.

Phyllis: (Scoffs)

Amber: Daniel got a subpoena from the grand jury, and I want you to fix it.

Deacon: You want me to fix a grand jury?

Amber: You're the master manipulator. Do something.

Deacon: (Stammers) Do I look like I'm in control to you? I came to Genoa City, Wisconsin, to get the girl, to make my fortune. Take a look at me-- no painting, no money, and unless you're here to declare your undying love for me, I got-- wait, you know, 'cause I do have something. I, um, I have this, um, which I'm gonna bet is exactly like the subpoena that Daniel got. You had your chance, princess, and you blew me off. So you know what? You and your little, uh, artist husband, I'd say you're outta luck.

Paul: On occasion in my profession, I have become involved with someone on a case. It ended badly. It always does. You are way too savvy not to know you are crossing the line.

Emily: Okay, I hear what you're saying, but you need to understand and respect my boundaries. I am entitled to a personal life. The two are separate.

Paul: Not in this case, they're not.

Emily: Okay, the reality is, Paul, is that Patty will never be out in the world again.

Paul: What makes you say that?

Emily: I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be so blunt.

Paul: She's getting better.

Emily: Patty lives in a fantasy world. We both know that, and--

Paul: I am not giving up on my sister.

Emily: And neither will I. Neither will I, I promise you, regardless of who I'm seeing in my personal life.

Paul: If Patty finds out about this--

Emily: Paul, that will never happen.

Paul: You and Jack-- it's a bad idea. That is not speculation. That is fact.

Jack: I told Phyllis she could put this plaque up. I-I-I hope you're okay with that. I-I hope I didn't overstep myself.

Ashley: Um, I'm okay with it. Are you okay with it? I mean, now that you see it up there? I mean, for a while, you thought that baby was yours.

Jack: I think it just makes me sad for Sharon, for Nick.

Ashley: I'm really sad for them, and they need to move on whatever way they can.

Jack: Yeah, if "Moving on" means she has to be with Adam, you and I are never gonna agree.

Ashley: Jack, come on. You've moved on, right? I mean, you've moved on with Emily. By the way, she-- I think she's very nice. You two could be a very good match.

Jack: You know what? Adding someone new to my life rather than losing someone is a nice change.

Ashley: (Chuckles) It's pretty. Want to take a walk?

Jack: Yeah, you know what? I brought a check up for the handyman. I gotta get back to town.

Ashley: Okay. I love that you're concerned about me. I really do. Just back off a little, okay? Come here. Love you.

Jack: I love you, too. (Sighs)

Noah: You and Mom both have to sign the permission slip for my school trip.

Nick: All right. Where you going?

Noah: Community service weekend in Madison. I signed up for environmental justice.

Nick: Oh, I'm gonna take a wild stab here and say that Eden signed up for this, too.

Noah: Yeah.

Nick: That is totally surprising. So... Phyllis, Summer and I, we went up to the Abbott cabin, and we put up a memorial plaque for the baby.

Noah: Does Mom know?

Nick: Not yet, but I'm gonna tell her.

Noah: (Sighs)

Nick: How was her holiday?

Noah: Mm, mellow. She stayed at home.

Nick: Well, your mom's still grieving.

Noah: Yeah, I know.

Nick: You know, I'm really glad you moved back home. Your mom needs you. I want you to keep an eye on her for me.

Noah: I do.

Nick: Hasn't been an easy year for her. I'm sure she's lonely.

Adam: My mom, she found me on the ground completely out cold.

Sharon: (Chuckles) Well, I bet you never snuck out of your bedroom window again.

Adam: (Sighs) You would lose that bet.

Sharon: (Chuckles)

Adam: Mm. Uh... this is, uh, breakfast tea? What's in it?

Sharon: Why, you don't like it?

Adam: Eh, I prefer my caffeine coffee-flavored.

Sharon: Yeah, I know what you mean. So do I.

Adam: Yikes.

Sharon: (Chuckles)

Adam: What's so funny?

Sharon: It's just the reason that I was ducking you earlier was I was afraid of this big emotional confession.

Adam: Really? I couldn't tell.

Sharon: Oh. (Chuckles)

Adam: You were afraid I'd succumbed to your charms?

Sharon: Yeah.

Adam: (Chuckles)

Sharon: (Chuckles) No, I'm just, um, I'm not really ready for anything, um, that... you know, big or committed or whatever.

Adam: Join the club.

Sharon: Well, I like that we can talk about it. You know, things are normal with us.

Adam: I know-- no weirdness. It's nice.

Sharon: Yeah, we can just take it easy and laugh about stuff.

Adam: Yeah, it feels great. You feel great.

Sharon: Mm. I like it.

(Front door closes)

Noah: Mom?

Adam: Hey, Noah.

Noah: Hi. I'm sorry. I didn't know you had company.

Adam: Oh, no, I just stopped by. You know what? Actually, I should probably get going.

Noah: Hmm. I need you to sign this.

Sharon: Oh, what is this?

Noah: School trip. If I don't get it signed today, I can't go. Dad already signed it.

Sharon: How long has this been in your backpack? It's all crumpled up.

Noah: Couple of weeks.

Sharon: Oh, nice. Thanks for letting me know about it. Here you go.

Noah: Beautiful. Thanks, Mom.

Sharon: All right.

Noah: Bye, Adam.

Adam: See you, Noah.

(Door closes)

Adam: Wow, that was another close call.

Sharon: Yeah, too close.

Adam: (Sighs)

Heather: Yeah?

Victoria: (Sighs) Was it really necessary to subpoena me before the grand jury?

Heather: Do you think I'd waste my time if it wasn't?

Victoria: I don't know anything about that murder. Can you please take me off the list?

Heather: You have some nerve asking me for a favor after the way you and your family treated me.

Victoria: (Sighs) Listen, I have been wrong about a number of things, but I wasn't wrong about Adam.

Heather: Oh, great. You want a ribbon?

Victoria: However you feel about me personally, it should not affect your job at the D.A., Heather.

Heather: Do you think that this is personal? Because you were in the alley the night that Ray Elkins was murdered. I wouldn't be doing my job if I let you get away without testifying in front of the grand jury. But since you asked, on a personal note, I hope to hell I make you squirm.

Deacon: Great. The hits just keep on coming. Couldn't keep away from me, could you, "Red"?

Phyllis: (Sighs)

Deacon: Well, I can't say as I blame you.

Phyllis: What are you gonna tell the grand jury?

Deacon: Well, now that's between me and the grand jury.

Phyllis: Word for word, what are you gonna tell them?

Deacon: How--how the hell am I supposed to know what I'm gonna tell them when I don't even know what the questions are?

Phyllis: Cut the crap.

Deacon: Let me ask you something. How do you actually manage to be hot and annoying at the same time?

Phyllis: You set my son up. He's innocent.

Deacon: Well, now that's for the grand jury to decide. I mean, all I can do is tell my side of the story. And let us not forget that I am the one who's out a quarter of a million dollars for the, uh, fake Terroni.

Phyllis: You're a liar.

Deacon: Well, I told Victoria that I would help her get the painting back for the museum, and she'll corroborate that, trust me.

Phyllis: Well, tell me, what about how you manipulated my son to get close to Amber, and what about you blackmailing her to--to marry you? What about all of that? See, you're up to your eyes in all of this disgusting mess.

Deacon: Maybe if you didn't coddle your son so much, um, he wouldn't be in this "Disgusting mess."

Phyllis: I really don't know how you did it, but you convinced Ryder to pin this on Daniel.

Deacon: Yeah, well, when you figure that one out, let me know, 'cause I'd really like to know how I did it, too.

Phyllis: Oh, you have no idea what I'm capable of.

Deacon: Mm. No, but I am just quivering with anticipation.

Deacon: Mm! My, my. Hi. (Clears throat) Its Deacon. Um, listen, I'm really tired of taking the heat for your little schemes. Uh, oddest thing happened-- I just got subpoenaed to the grand jury, and, uh, there is no way in hell that I intend on implicating myself. Got it?

Adam: Yep, uh, driver is here.

Sharon: Okay. I had fun.

Adam: (Sighs) Me, too. Come here. Okay, if we do this again, I'm never gonna leave.

Sharon: Okay, go.

Adam: I'll talk to you later.

Sharon: (Mouthing words) (Sighs)

Sharon: (Sighs)

(Knock on door)

Sharon: He's back.

Nick: (Sighs) I need to talk to you about what happened yesterday.

Sharon: Well, what about yesterday?

Nick: I went up to the Abbott cabin with Phyllis and Summer.

Sharon: Oh.

Nick: We put up a plaque with Faith's name on it.

Sharon: You did?

Nick: Yeah. It was Phyllis' idea. She wanted to surprise me with it. She knew how upset I'd been over the baby's death. And honestly, Sharon, it helped. I really hope that it brings you as much peace as it brought me.

Sharon: Well... (Sighs) Nick, I think about our baby every day. The idea of just anyone walking by out there and seeing this plaque, and knowing about our loss-- but that's private. Us, it's a constant reminder of everything that went on up there-- I mean, Faith's death and you and me.

Nick: Well, Sharon, it's not like we'll ever forget the baby. I--

Sharon: No, of course not, but that's not the point, Nick. Faith was my baby, too, and you made this decision without me. I mean, you-- it just shows how far apart that you and I have grown, and it was just very presumptuous of you, Nick.

Nick: I didn't come here to upset you, Sharon.

Sharon: Well, you did, because you and Phyllis put a plaque to my baby without even involving me in it, Nick. And you-- you expect me to be grateful? I think you should get out.

Ashley: It's getting cold. (Shivers)

Jack: Well, hey, if it isn't my favorite shrink. What, you working half-days now?

Emily: I came back for a file.

Jack: Hey, everything all right?

Emily: Paul Williams saw us on our date. He was pretty upset about what this might do to Patty if she ever finds out.

Jack: How would she ever find out?

Emily: Exactly.

Jack: Well, I hope he didn't talk you out of going on a second date with me.

Emily: No, I won't be bullied or have my judgment questioned. Besides, it's nothing serious.

Jack: Who says it isn't?

Victoria: J.T., uh, hi. I need to see you. I'm--I'm at the coffeehouse. But if you can't make it over here, then just please call me back, okay?

Heather: Adam.

Adam: Excuse me. I haven't had my coffee yet this morning. Definitely need some after the night I had last night. Uh, large caffe latte, please.

Heather: Okay, I get that you don't want to talk to me.

Adam: So why you still here?

Heather: Because I'm sorry for some of the things that I said last time I saw you.

Adam: Well, you can't hurt me anymore. I've moved on. Maybe you should, too. Thanks. Keep the change.

Heather: I hope that you and he will be happy.

Michael: Ahh. I'll be right back in a second.

Heather: (Clears throat)

Michael: Counselor.

Heather: Prepping your client for his testimony?

Michael: Oh, Counselor, you know that Daniel Romalotti did not kill Ray Elkins.

Heather: (Sighs) Oh, save it, Michael. Daniel's fingerprints are all over the murder weapon. You know as well as I do, he'll be indicted. It's a done deal.

Michael: Done deal. Done deal. That--that's so final. So--so not right.

Daniel: Why would you go and talk to him after we promised Michael that we wouldn't?

Amber: Well, if Deacon can fix this--

Daniel: I don't want Deacon to "fix" anything.

Amber: You're mad at me.

Daniel: I just want you to stay the hell away from that guy.

Amber: I'm worried.

Daniel: You know what? I wouldn't worry about it, because I've got a feeling this whole thing's gonna go away soon.

(Cell phone rings)

Daniel: I gotta take this. Hello?

Amber: (Sighs)

Daniel: Yeah.

Phyllis: Amber.

Amber: Hey, Phyllis. How are you?

Phyllis: I want to talk to you about this grand jury subpoena.

Amber: Oh, you know, Daniel feels really positive about it, so--

Phyllis: No. No. Listen to me. If it comes down to it, I can set you up with a bank account in Brazil.

Amber: Brazil?

Phyllis: I want you to talk Daniel into leaving the country with you.

Amber: So you want him to run?

Daniel: Hey. Mom, um, does Nick have a tie that I could borrow?

Phyllis: Yeah, yeah. Come by the house, for sure.

Daniel: Could the two of you stop worrying, please?

Phyllis: Well, how can I? You're being railroaded for a crime you didn't commit.

Daniel: (Chuckles) It's gonna be fine. It's gonna be fine, right?

Amber: Right.

Next on "The Young and The Restless"...

Cane: Nothing can stop us now.

Mac: Something can if we don't take care of it.

Billy: Look, bottom line, until Mac's pregnant, she's not pregnant, so there's an open door.

Michael: No one outside of Chancellor Industries is supposed to know about this.

Gloria: And our lips are sealed.
