Chloe: Okay. Well, Delia's all tucked in. Now it's your turn.

Chance: Come here.

Chloe: Oh, come on. You just don't want to go back up those stairs again.

Chance: Excuse me. I could take them two at a time if I had to. (Groans)

Chloe: No, no. No showing off -- not acceptable.

Chance: Not accept -- no worrying. That's not acceptable. That's for my mom to do, not you.

Chloe: (Sighs) Well, then what's my job?

Chance: I think we're still negotiating that title.

Chloe: Hmm.

Chance: Hmm.

Chloe: Okay. Well, watch out, because I am a really fierce negotiator.

Chance: So I've noticed.

Chloe: Mm.

Chance: It's crazy.

Chloe: Yeah.

Chance: Come here. Aah! Aah! (Winces)

Chloe: Ooh! Oh, my gosh!

Chance: Aah.

Chloe: Oh, I'm so sorry.

Chance: No, no, it's fine. I'm just --

Chloe: Are you okay?

Chance: Yeah. I just gotta breathe.

Chloe: Are you okay? (Winces)

Chance: It's fine. (Sighs) Ow.

Chloe: I'm sorry.

Chance: (Sighs) Just a couple more days. A couple more days, and I can go back to work.

Chloe: You know -- you know, I was thinking about that. (Sighs) I think that maybe you should reconsider Katherine's offer about taking a job at Chancellor. You know, I just think it's a lot safer for you to be behind a desk --

Chance: (Sighs)

Chloe: And the worst that could possibly happen is get -- I don't know -- a paper cut?

Chance: You know that I would feel like a caged animal if I was stuck in that office, right?

Chloe: Yeah, I do know.

Chance: This is who I am. This is what I do, okay? You're not gonna change that about me.

Chloe: I don't -- I don't want to change you.

Chance: You're not gonna ch --

Chloe: I don't want to cha --

Chance: Really? Why?

Chloe: No, I love -- I like you just the way that you are.

Chance: Well, I l-l-l-like you, too.

Mac: So you were with Chloe when she got the message from Phillip?

Billy: Yeah. No. (Stammers) I wasn't "With" Chloe. We just bumped into each other, and I thought something was wrong with Delia, so I tagged along, but it was just Phillip explaining to the family that he was leaving for Australia.

Mac: Oh. I'm sorry I missed him.

Billy: Well, he had his hands full trying to explain himself to Mom and Chance.

Mac: Good-byes are hard.

Billy: Yeah. Well, you know, it's not permanent, hopefully. He's -- he's coming back. I know he's really trying to make an effort to -- to make things right.

Mac: Uh, so --  I was at Cane and Lily's today, and, um --

Billy: You know, I really -- I don't -- I don't want to hear anything about that.

Mac: You don't even know what I was gonna say.

Billy: I'm sure it's more about how grateful they are to you, and -- and what a miracle it is that you're having this baby. I'm pretty sure that's it.

Chloe: Wh -- you guys are having a baby?

Billy: No, sh -- Mac's having a baby. She's having Cane's baby. It's --

Chloe: Wow.

Adam: Hey, Ash?

Ashley: Yeah?

Adam: Tell me something. Which one of these is better?

Ashley: Oh, what's the occasion?

Adam: Uh, dinner with a friend.

Ashley: Oh, yeah? A friend you want to impress?

Adam: I'll figure this out myself.

Ashley: (Gasps) Wow. Okay, well, the one on the right.

(Cell phone rings)

Adam: Hi.

Sharon: Hi. I made reservations at Indigo. Does that work for you?

Adam: Oh.

Sharon: No?

Adam: No, I just, um, I-I thought we were gonna meet at your place.

Sharon: Um, well, it's time for you to come out of hiding, Adam. Come on. I'm gonna come pick you up in a little while.

Adam: No, no, no. It's out of the way. Why don't I come get you?

Sharon: No, no. I don't want to get used to having a driver, and besides, it makes me feel like a teenager being chaperoned on a date.

Adam: All right, well, um, then I'll be waiting for you.

Emily: Well, I really don't know how late this session's going to go.

Jack: Not to worry. The table will be ours when we get there.

Emily: You're not gonna tell me where we're going, are you?

Jack: I would like to keep my air of mystery.

Emily: Well, I think it's a little late for that. (Laughs)

Jack: Yeah, well, exactly my point. I'd like to have one secret you know nothing about.

Emily: Okay. All right, we'll do it your way.

Jack: Call me when you're ready.

Emily: Mm-hmm. Bye.

(Cell phone rings)

Nick: Hey, Jack.

Jack: Hey, I was hoping you had a chance to look over the I.P.O. figures on the Chancellor deal.

Nick: Yeah, I did. Looks pretty sweet.

Jack: Does that mean you're interested?

Nick: Well, I need to go over the details of the partnership you're proposing, but yeah, I'm definitely interested.

Jack: You won't be sorry, Nick.

Nick: All right, well, I just got home. We'll talk tomorrow.

Nick: Hey.

Phyllis: Hey. God, where have you been? I-I the stores are gonna close.

Nick: Uh, I could have picked up anything you needed.

Phyllis: No, I-I need to get a new sofa is what I-I need to do. I-I don't -- I don't want to look at this one again.

Nick: Okay. Uh, because?

Phyllis: Because I'm the reason that -- that Patty attacked Summer, so I have to go.

Nick: No, no, okay, well --

Phyllis: No, I gotta go.

Nick: Can you just tell me -- whoa, you're not going anywhere. You can't drive like this. What's going on?

Phyllis: She was here.

Nick: Who?

Phyllis: Patty. Mary Jane. Patty. Patty. Mary Jane.

Nick: Patty was -- she was -- not today.

Phyllis: She was here. She was here. No, no. B-before. Before when -- when -- when -- when -- e-e -- before everybody knew she was insane. She was here. She followed Jack. She followed Jack over here, and she stared at us, watching us, right outside that window.

Nick: Okay. She saw you guys talking?

Phyllis: No, we weren't talking. We were having sex.

Patty: I remember Debbie.

Paul: (Chuckles)

Patty: (Laughs) We'd do sleepovers, and she'd always want to come over to our house because she had a big crush on you.

Paul: Oh, man.

Patty: Yeah, and I liked to stay over at her place because she had that cool snow cone machine.

Paul: Oh, that's right. How do you remember that stuff?

Patty: (Chuckles) I just do.

Paul: (Chuckles)

Patty: Doesn't that sound really good right now? A snow cone?

Paul: Actually, November in Wisconsin?

Patty: Yeah.

Paul: No, it doesn't sound good right now.

Patty: But you're gonna get me one, aren't you? (Laughs)

Paul: What flavor?

Patty: Um --  grape.

Paul: (Laughs) Okay.

Patty: Okay?

Paul: Grape it is. I remember that, 'cause you used to come home from her house, and your lips were all purple.

Patty: Uh-huh. (Laughs)

Emily: Hi.

Patty: Oh, hi, Dr. P.

Paul: Hi. Uh, do you want some time with Patty?

Emily: Uh, no. I was just checking in. I have another appointment soon. What's this?

Patty: Oh, this is my junior-year high school book. Pauly brought it to me. Isn't he sweet?

Emily: Very.

Paul: Um, why don't you, uh, try and find that picture of you at the Christmas pageant? I'll see you in a little while. Hi.

Emily: Hi. So is it a good visit?

Paul: Um, yeah. She's doing really well. She hasn't mentioned Jack once.

Emily: Wow. No more threats?

Paul: No.

Patty: Paul, here I am. Look.

Emily: You were an angel. You're so pretty.

Patty: Yeah, and Mom made the costume. Minus the wings, I look like a bride, don't I? (Sighs) Wow, I had such terrible stage fright.

Paul: You didn't show it.

Patty: (Chuckles) Oh, I made something today. Look. See? This is you, Paul.

Paul: (Chuckles)

Patty: And this is Kitty Kitty.

Paul: Kitty Kitty?

Patty: Yeah, and I-I was -- I was going to make you, but I didn't have any time.

Emily: So they brought you more supplies.

Patty: Mm-hmm. But they -- they, um, just had these little kid scissors, and they don't work very well. But I guess they have to have 'em -- (Whispering) Because there's a lot of dangerous people in here.

Emily: Yes, that is true. Patty, you don't find yourself dangerous?

Patty: (Normal voice) (Chuckles) Of course not. I could never hurt anybody.

Emily: Not even Jack?

Patty: Well, especially not Jack, silly. (Laughs) Hmm. (Chuckles)

Jack: So how's my beautiful little niece doing?

Ashley: Actually, she's reminding me a lot of you these days.

Jack: Really?

Ashley: Yeah, you know, she loves the sound of her own voice, and when she gets a hold of something, she just won't let go.

Jack: She's gonna go far.

Ashley: (Laughs) You're in a good mood.

Jack: Well, I got some good news for uh, b --

Ashley: Yeah?

Adam: Jack? Is that you?

Jack: Gee, I'm surprised you're not at work, Adam. So much going on at Newman, lots of papers to file.

Adam: You know what? This makes perfect sense. You have all the free time in the world. You're out and about because Jill is running the show at Jabot because you screwed everything up, right?

Ashley: Okay, honestly --

Jack: Sit down.

Ashley: (Sighs)

Jack: I'm getting in on the Chancellor I.P.O.

Ashley: Katherine won't let you, Jackie.

Jack: Katherine doesn't know, and I'm here to offer you one more chance to go in with me.

Ashley: No, thank you.

Jack: Come on. Don't be stubborn here. You're much too smart a businesswoman to pass on this opportunity.

Ashley: That's true. I am going to invest in Chancellor. I'm just not doing it with you.

Nick: So you and Jack --

Phyllis: Okay, before you go there, please --

Nick: Too late. So this was going through your mind when I was begging you for forgiveness?

Phyllis: No, no, no. This happened after everything. This happened after you left me. This happened after Sharon left Jack. You remember that? When you two were together. And we were desperate and completely alone, and we needed each other. We hit rock bottom. So please, don't even go there with me, okay?

Nick: Son of a bitch! Okay. So you were, uh, you were afraid to tell me.

Phyllis: It -- it was none of your business. You left me. You had left me. And we knew it was a mistake. We knew that. It was a mistake, and we weren't hurting anyone. And it was all fine -- (Voice breaking) And we weren't hurting anyone --  so we thought. But Patty was right there, and she saw us, and that's the reason that Summer -- (Normal voice) Oh, my God, Nick, I did this. (Voice breaking) I did this to my child. (Sighs) She was getting back at Summer, and I did this. How am I gonna live with that? (Sighs)

Chloe: Well, carrying a baby for your ex-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend and your ex-brother -- well, I think we can safely say that that is, uh, breaking new ground, right? So good for you. Good for you.

Chance: You know, it means a lot to Cane and to Lily. It's something that's life-affirming for them to focus on, so --

Chloe: Hmm.

Mac: Right. That's why I offered.

Chloe: Mm, and you must be really proud, you know, because you're always saying how selfless Mac is and how generous she is. And now look at her. She's literally giving her body over to Cane for the greater good. I mean, I think that's great.

Mac: Billy's not thrilled with my decision.

Billy: Yeah, she knows that, Mac.

Chloe: So this is why you guys are having problems. (Clicks tongue)

Mac: Among other things.

Billy: Hey.

Chloe: Well, d-don't worry about it. I mean, just give it a few months. He'll be over it, and then I'm sure he'll be back to worshipping the ground that you waddle on. (Chuckles)

Chance: You know what? It's getting pretty cold out here. Why don't we head back inside?

Chloe: Have a great evening. Oh, sorry.

Chance: After you.

Billy: Look, um, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything in front of her. Now everybody's gonna know.

Mac: It's fine. I don't have anything to be ashamed of.

Billy: Honey, that's not what I meant. It -- (sighs) You know what? Chance is right. It's cold out here. Let's go inside. We can talk in there.

Mac: (Sighs) I don't think that's a good idea.

Billy: You know what? Okay, you have a nice night.

Mac: Good-bye, Billy.

Jack: Why wouldn't you join with me? We'd have twice as much influence if we do this together.

Ashley: No, you'd have twice as much influence, that's what you mean. You always do that, Jack. You end up taking over. You know, and I've been there and done that too many times with you and my soon-to-be ex-husband.

Jack: I understand right now it's difficult for you to trust others.

Ashley: I don't have a problem trusting others, Jack. I just want to keep our business and family separate, okay?

Jack: This I gotta hear from John Abbott's daughter. That's what Jabot was set up for --

Ashley: Oh, boy.

Jack: To hold this family together through business. That's Dad's legacy for us.

Ashley: No, you always say that. And you're wrong. We're his legacy -- you and me and Billy and Traci, and that's the truth, no matter what happens to Jabot.

Jack: I will not believe for one second you don't care what happens to this company.

Ashley: I care deeply what happens to Jabot.

Jack: Look, push comes to shove, you'll vote with me.

Ashley: Don't count on that, Jack. You should not count on that.

Jack: Ashley, th --

Ashley: No. Now you listen. You have done too many things that I do not approve of. I could be up all night long and write you a huge list -- things that I found offensive, things that were hurtful to me. But I got over it, because you're my brother and I love you -- (Sighs) And I accept you for who you are. Now it's your turn to do that for me.

Nick: (Sighs) Patty's a lunatic, Phyllis. You can't hold yourself responsible.

Phyllis: I know, but I set her off. I set her off. I knew what I was doing was a mistake. I knew it. I knew it. (Sighs) And she was here. And if I hadn't been so needy, if I hadn't felt so alone -- (Sighs) She wouldn't have attacked my daughter like that.

Nick: You want someone to blame, you blame me. I caused this. I abandoned you. I sent you into Jack's arms. Hell, I wasn't even at my own house the night that psycho was outside that door. So can't you see that this is my fault?

Phyllis: Yeah, kind of. (Chuckles) I'm kidding.

Nick: Okay, let's -- let's just be happy that -- this could have been so much worse. Patty could have lost it that night and came in the house with you and Summer upstairs.

Phyllis: Yeah. It could have been so much worse. You're right.

Emily: It's not unusual with violence or threats of violence for the perpetrator to block it from memory, even someone who hasn't had a psychotic break.

Paul: But other things she remembers with such intense detail.

Patty: Yeah, well, it's good that she's connecting with the photos and the mementos that you're bringing. It's also really positive that -- that she, uh, recognizes that hurting someone is unacceptable behavior.

Paul: Well, you know what encourages me the most is that you can actually have a conversation with her and she is not always winding it back to Jack.

Emily: Right, and that's what -- exactly what we're trying to do. We're trying to build -- build a, um, a life that centers around Patty and not Jack.

Paul: Well, I think we're making progress.

Emily: I need to, uh, get to my next appointment, so I'm gonna say good-bye to Patty.

Paul: (Sighs)

Emily: Patty, I need to get going.

Patty: Oh, no. But I'm almost finished with your picture.

Emily: I'll see it the next time.

Paul: Uh, I'm gonna walk Dr. Peterson out. I'll be right back.

Patty: Okay. Bye, Dr. P.

Emily: Bye-bye, Patty.

Patty: (Sighs happily) Don't worry, Jack. They do want to take you away, but I'm not gonna let them. (Chuckles)

Ashley: Oh, sorry about Jack.

Adam: Please. (Grunts) Besides, he's really not that far off my job description at Newman.

Ashley: Well, if you and I end up working together, things are gonna be different.

Adam: Still moving forward on that project, huh?

Ashley: Oh, yeah.

Adam: But you're not ready to tell me yet.

Ashley: Not quite yet.

Adam: Why so secretive?

Ashley: Look who's talking.

Adam: What's that supposed to mean?

Ashley: Just kind of wondering who your date is tonight.

Adam: (Chuckles)

Ashley: Ooh! I was right. It's a date.

Adam: Uh, it's not that I don't want to tell you. I just don't want to jinx it.

Ashley: I understand. Good luck. You deserve somebody special.

Adam: Thank you.

Paul: Well, uh, I'd better get going. Visiting hours are almost over. I'll be back soon.

Patty: With a snow cone?

Paul: We'll see.

Patty: (Chuckles)

Paul: (Chuckles)

Patty: (Grunts) Oh, wait, wait, here. You can take him with you.

Paul: Oh, I think -- I think he wants to stay here. That way, I can keep an eye on you.

Patty: (Chuckles)

Paul: All right. Love you.

Patty: Love you, too.

Paul: Okay. I'll be back soon.

Patty: (Sighs)

Patty: You need a bouquet. (Giggles)

Jack: Well, you are a sight for sore eyes.

Emily: Oh, thank you. They are beautiful. I should put them in water.

Jack: Oh, no, they'll take care of those where we're going.

Emily: Full-service operation.

Jack: Oh, you don't know the half of it.

Emily: Hmm.

Phyllis: Dr. Peterson -- what is she doing lavishing Patty with all this adoration and compassion after what she did? She didn't even fix her. That's her job.

Nick: You keep looking for someplace else to put your rage -- with the doctor or Patty or our couch, yourself.

Phyllis: Where am I gonna put it? I can't let Summer see. She gives me all these scribblings, Nick. They're just -- (Voice breaking) They're incomprehensible. (Sniffles) And she's so proud. (Normal voice) She's so proud to give them to me. I can't let her see what I'm really thinking. I can't -- I can't let her see it.

Nick: You're everything to that little girl. You can't tear yourself apart, because you can't afford to.

Phyllis: (Sighs) You have no idea how I feel. I feel just --

Nick: We all have some blame in this. It's not just you. It's me. It's Patty. It's Jack. It's my dad. It's everyone. But no one has done more than you to make this right. You are the best mother our little girl could have ever asked for. Who else would fight for her the way you have? Phyllis, you've got nothing to be ashamed of. You should feel proud, damn proud. Look, we're here, and we're all together, and we're safe. Let's just focus on that and move forward, okay?

Nick: Okay?

Phyllis: Okay.

Nick: Okay. we're having dinner. We got the very best table in the house. I am Jack, your waiter and maître d' and sommelier and chef.

Emily: Chef?

Jack: And busboy and head dishwasher.

Emily: (Laughs) This is a lovely home.

Jack: I thought maybe you might be a little tired of eating in restaurants. After you.

Emily: (Sighs) You were right. This is nice for a change -- not having anyone staring at me because they think I'm Patty. Oh, thank you.

Jack: I plan to be the only person staring at you tonight. (Glasses clink)

Adam: (Sighs)

Woman: I have to go.

Adam: What?

Woman: My father -- he's had a heart attack.

Adam: Oh, my God.

Woman: Please, explain to Ms. Newman.

Adam: Of course. Oh, no. Sharon and the baby. This is not good.

(Doorbell rings)

Sharon: Hello.

Adam: Hey. You look great -- blurry, but great.

Sharon: Oh, thank you. (Chuckles) Is, uh, Ashley home?

Adam: Uh, no. Um, she's out, actually. Uh, and, you know, I -- I meant to call you, b-but, uh, I-I -- I can't go out tonight, after all.

Sharon: Oh, don't tell me Nick gave you some last-minute assignment.

Adam: No, um, the nanny did.

Sharon: What?

Adam: It's, um, a family emergency she -- she had. Uh, listen, you know, with Ashley out, I don't -- I don't know when she's coming back, and -- and so I-I can't -- I can't leave.

Sharon: If you can't go out, we'll just stay here.

Chloe: In the face of damming I think that Billy's car left.

Chance: Well, that probably means that Mac is with him, too.

Chloe: I guess so.

Chance: Just let me grab --

Chloe: Here.

Chance: Mm.

Chloe: Oh, there she is.

Chance: Thank you.

Chloe: We just made some hot chocolate. I think you should have some.

Mac: No, thanks. I'm not really in the mood for hot chocolate.

Chloe: No, you -- it's actually really, really good. We threw in some, uh, peppermint schnapps, right?

Chance: Yeah, but you know what? If you're tired, I mean, you don't have to --

Chloe: She's not tired. She's depressed. Look at the poor girl. She needs company. Marshmallows?

Mac: No, thank you.

Chloe: I think that you're doing the right thing.

Mac: (Chuckles) I know that I'm doing the right thing.

Chloe: And I also think that Cane will be a great father. I can vouch for that.

Chance: I also see where Billy's coming from, though.

Chloe: You just said just a little bit ago that this is a great thing for Lily. Actually, "Life-affirming."

Chance: Yeah, I know what I said before, but -- (Sighs) It's a lot to ask the guy. I know.

Chloe: No, he blows up, and it blows over. Don't you think that's what's going on?

Mac: No, I don't. I don't think so.

Chloe: Honestly, having a child has changed my life. So trust your instincts, and I will be behind you 110%.

Mac: I don't doubt that.

Chloe: And you know that I will totally hook you up with the best maternity clothes, whatever you need.

Mac: (Sighs) (Scoffs)

Ashley: Okay, I'm here. Please don't tell me this is bad news about "Restless Style."

Billy: It's Mac. She doesn't want to be with me anymore.

Jack: So admit it, you didn't think I could cook, did you?

Emily: Well, don't say anything to anyone, because you'll have a long line at the door.

Jack: Well, you know, you can always get in. You have an in with the chef now.

Emily: Well, maybe next time, he'll let me help in the kitchen.

Jack: It's a deal. Have a seat.

Emily: (Chuckles) (Sighs) I'm embarrassed that I gave you such a hard time when we first met.

Jack: Oh, don't even go there. After everything you heard about me?

Emily: But you were right. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions.

Jack: You know what?

Emily: Hmm?

Jack: It's actually refreshing this way.

Emily: Refreshing?

Jack: Yeah, you know how every new relationship, you worry that moment is gonna come when you have to expose that you have baggage?

Emily: (Chuckles)

Jack: Well, we just did things the other way around. You're slowly realizing I actually have one or two redeeming qualities. I think I like it better this way.

Emily: Mm. This is the home you grew up in?

Jack: Yep.

Emily: Then I'm even more impressed with the changes you've made. I usually advise my patients that if they want to become a new person, it's best to change their surroundings. It's so easy to slip into old patterns in your childhood home.

Jack: Well, I thought about leaving here more than a few times. This was my dad's home, and I have spent my entire life trying to emulate him and done a hell of a rotten job at it --

Emily: (Chuckles)

Jack: As any of my siblings will happily attest.

Emily: Mm. I imagine Billy resents you taking on a fatherly tone.

Jack: Yeah, there's that. Actually, I was thinking more about Ashley. I was hoping when she and Victor finally divorced, when he was finally exposed for the fraud that he is, that she'd come back to the fold.

Emily: "Fold," meaning?

Jack: The family business -- Jabot. She told me tonight she's no longer interested, and my sister Traci has cocooned herself in New York after Colleen's death.

Emily: That's understandable.

Jack: And Billy -- Billy is running amok at "Restless Style." And the dream -- my father's dream, my dream -- of all of us working together at Jabot, making it grow, making it healthy, being together is pretty much up in smoke.

Emily: You know, Jack, when you let go of an old dream, you make room for a new one.

Adam: You were probably looking forward to a night out on the town, huh?

Sharon: No.

Adam: (Sighs)

Sharon: I was looking forward to spending time with you. We'll figure it out. We can order a pizza, or there are tons of movies in the media room. Um --  oh. I'm sorry. That was stupid. I --

Adam: No. No, no, no, no. No, it -- listen, I can usually tell what's going on in a movie by the soundtrack, anyway. And remember, I-I don't have peripheral vision, so, you know, uh, movie screen in front of me, I'm -- I'm fine.

Sharon: But what you see straight in front of you, that's blurry, too, isn't it?

Adam: Well, yeah. I-I see colors and, uh, shapes. Uh, the closer it is, the better it is.

Sharon: Well, we'll think of something to do.

Adam: But, Sharon, what if the baby wakes up, you know?

Sharon: Oh, I'll help you with her. Do you want me to check on her now?

Adam: No, no, that -- that's okay. I've got the monitor. And I'm sure she's asleep for the night. You know, I'll, uh, run into the kitchen, and I'll see if we have anything, any leftovers.

Sharon: You want any help with that?

Adam: No, I can manage. You want something to drink?

Sharon: Um, sure. Iced tea, if you have it.

Adam: Be right back. (Sighs)

Faith: (Cries)

Billy: Is it too much to ask for your girlfriend not to have some other guy's kid?

Ashley: Hey, you know, it's a difficult situation. But you're kind of acting like the baby would be Cane and Mac's and not Cane and Lily's.

Billy: You know what I mean.

Ashley: Well, isn't the surrogacy just the last straw? From what you've told me, Mac has told you that she thinks you're incompatible with each other. That's a big deal.

Billy: Yeah, well, she's wrong, okay? We've loved each other since we were kids.

Ashley: And I don't doubt that. I mean, look at me. I loved Victor for a very, very long time. And I tried very hard to convince myself that that was enough to make us happy and to keep us together and it di -- didn't turn out that way.

Billy: Yeah, 'cause he's a megalomaniac.

Ashley: Uh, Billy, I mean --

Billy: I-I'm sorry. You were making a point?

Ashley: I was trying. I had dreams, too, and they didn't turn out the way I wanted. Is it disappointing? Yes. But, Billy, my eyes have been opened to all sorts of new possibilities that I never could have even imagined as Mrs. Victor Newman. It's exciting.

Billy: I'm happy for you. But I don't need my eyes opened to what life is like without Mac. I've already had that. I don't want to lose her again.

Mac: Thanks for the, uh, the cocoa offer.

Chloe: I have more. You sure you don't want any?

Mac: Oh, yeah. I'm sure. I've had just about all I can handle.

Chance: (Sighs) (Groans) You were a little over-the-top there, weren't you? (Sighs)

Chloe: I mean, the poor girl is alone and pregnant.

Chance: Chloe, the "Poor girl" is in a house filled with people that love her, and she's not pregnant yet.

Chloe: Well, she's gonna get really big. She's that type, you know? (Clicks tongue)

Chance: It's about Billy, isn't it? I mean, he's available again.

Chloe: No, this is not about Billy. Who cares? Not me.

Chance: Well, from where I'm sitting, it seems like you care an awful lot.

Jack: Leave a message. I'll get back to you.

Nick: Hey, Jack, it's Nick. Listen, about the Chancellor I.P.O. and us going in on it together? It's not gonna happen.

Emily: Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

Jack: Yeah, well, we should try this again sometime.

Emily: I'd like that. Good night.

Jack: Good night.

(Cell phone beeps)

Jack: Nick.

Patty: Hmm. The last time we were married, you were not a very good boy. But I'm gonna make it that you never look at anyone ever again.

Faith: (Babbles)

Sharon: You like this, don't you? Shh.

Adam: Here we go.

Faith: (Coos)

Adam: (Sighs) Sharon?

Sharon: There we go. See? You're fine now. Everything's gonna be okay. Yeah.

Next on "The Young and the Restless" --

Chance: When you heard Billy say that Mac was having his baby, it looked like someone had just punched you in the stomach.

Jack: Why did he stop the deal?

Phyllis: I think it has to do with the fact that I told him that you and I slept together.

Adam: I don't want to keep this secret from you, and if I don't tell you now, I'm not sure if I ever will.
