Nick: What's wrong, son?

Noah: You didn't tell me about the baby -- she wasn't Jack's. She was yours.

Nick: Are you upset that we didn't tell you sooner?

Noah: I don't care about that. I just can't believe I lost another sister.

Nick: (Sighs)

Ashley: So Billy's with Traci and Steve?

Jack: Yeah, they're dealing with the funeral arrangement for Colleen.

Ashley: Mm. Oh, I can't stand it. Poor Traci. Every time I look at Faith, I realize how lucky I am.

Jack: Yeah, given the pregnancy that you had, all the setbacks.

Ashley: Mm.

Jack: All the unbelievable stress.

Ashley: The way I gave birth to her. I could easily have lost her.

Jack: Do you hear that? You're a miracle.

Ashley: You're gonna have your own miracle pretty soon.

Jack: Listen, uh, about that. There's something you need to know.

Ashley: What?

Jack: (Sighs) It turns out, I'm not the father of Sharon's baby. Nick is.

Ashley: Oh. I'm so sorry.

Jack: There's more.

Ashley: What?

Jack: (Sighs) Sharon already had the baby. Poor kid didn't make it. She was stillborn.

Ashley: Oh, my God.

Sharon: All right, I'll try. Thank you, Doctor. Adam?

Adam: Who's there?

Sharon: It's Sharon Abbott.

Adam: Hey. You, uh, here to see Victor?

Sharon: I had a doctor appointment.

Adam: Yeah, I heard. I am, um, I'm so sorry you lost your baby.

Sharon: Thank you. That's nice of you to say.

Adam: How are you?

Sharon: Um, hanging in.

Adam: Good.

Sharon: Yeah, it's weird, though. I haven't heard from the funeral home.

Adam: The funeral home?

Sharon: Um, yeah. You know, um, the ashes and... I'm sorry. I just have a hard time keeping my emotions under control, and--

Man: Just look these over. We have a large variety of quality woods to choose from. We also have eco-friendly models which have become quite popular.

Steve: We'll have to think about it.

Man: I understand. Have you decided whether you want an open or closed casket?

Traci: I-I really h-haven't had a chan--

Steve: Sweetheart, it--it's whatever you want.

Man: About the flowers-- do you have a florist you prefer? If not, we can recommend--

Billy: Can we just have a minute? Do you mind?

Man: Absolutely.

Billy: Thank you, Sir. I appreciate it.

Man: Take all the time you need.

Billy: Well, look at us. We're sitting in this office looking at these, surrounded by God knows what in this cabinet. I mean, Colleen would hate this.

Mac: We all hate it, but it has to be done.

Billy: Yeah, but if we have to say good-bye, can't we just do it in a way that honors the woman that Colleen was? Not some morbid tear fest?

Traci: That's a perfect idea, Billy. Will you handle it?

Billy: (Clears throat)

Nikki: How long does Victor have to stay in the hospital?

Dr. Swift: Well, if everything goes well, a week and a half, two weeks.

Victor: Are you afraid that my--my body will reject the new heart?

Dr. Swift: Well, hopefully, the medications will take care of that, but that is a concern with transplants.

Victor: I actually feel better than I thought I would.

Dr. Swift: (Chuckles) I'm sure it's due in part to your--your wife here. She's very devoted. She hasn't left your side all night. I'll check later.

Victor: Thank you.

Nikki: (Sighs) I've been getting a lot of that lately. (Chuckles)

Victor: What's that?

Nikki: Being mistaken for your wife.

Victor: I guess we all have our crosses to bear, don't we?

Nikki: (Chuckles)

Victor: There's something I wanted to tell you before the operation. There's something that I think you--you need to hear.

Billy: I-I don't know, Trace. I've never done anything like this.

Traci: You can do it. Nobody knew Colleen better than you did.

Steve: Yeah, you know, even when she was in New York or if you were in Hong Kong, that connection was always there.

Billy: She deserves a send-off as special as she was.

Mac: Then give it to her, Billy.

Traci: There's no one I would trust with this more than you.

Adam: I didn't mean to, uh--

Sharon: No, no. That's okay. I-I appreciate, um, I appreciate your concern.

Adam: I realize we don't really know each other.

Sharon: No, we don't.

Adam: Mm. I don't have too many friends, uh, people that I can talk to.

Sharon: Well, I know what that's like.

Adam: Yeah. It's just, uh, it's been a crazy few days, and I'm not sure what's up or down anymore.

Sharon: You and Victor have a pretty complicated relationship.

Adam: That's a tactful way of putting it.

Sharon: Something really amazing has happened. Your father survived. He's been given another chance, and you should feel grateful. Not--not everyone is that lucky. I, uh, I have to go. I-I want to see Victor, and I need to find that mortuary, so...

Adam: Right, the baby's--

Sharon: Yeah, um, take care.

Adam: You, too. Sharon?

Sharon: Yes?

Adam: I, uh, I really meant what I said earlier. I'm-- I'm very sorry your baby's gone.

Adam: (Sighs) Ashes.

Victor: You set all this in motion, you know. You tracked down Ashley, and you sent her to Paris to find me.

Nikki: (Sighs) Well, you were in so much agony after Sabrina died. Nobody else was able to get through to you.

Victor: And now here we are a year later, and now there's a new life in the world because of your selflessness.

Nikki: Well, I don't know about that.

Victor: If it hadn't been for you, there'd be no Faith now.

Faith: (Fusses)

Jack: Easy. Easy. Yeah.

Ashley: So how long have you known the baby wasn't yours, Jackie?

Jack: A while.

Ashley: I'm sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.

Jack: You had a lot on your mind living in that haunted house.

Ashley: Yeah, thinking I was going insane. You know, it's a strange thing. But ever since Faith was put in my arms, from the very first moment, I felt this overwhelming need to take my life back.

Jack: It's about time.

Ashley: In fact, as soon as she's on a schedule, I want to come back to work. I mean, at least part-time.

Jack: That is the best news I've had all year.

Ashley: Well, after months of doubting myself, I need to know that I can handle my girls and take care of them, no matter what life throws at us.

Jack: Yeah. So how does Victor fit into this little scenario?

Ashley: He's always gonna be a part of our lives.

Jack: What does that mean?

Ashley: Go see Traci. Go on.

Jack: Okay.

Ashley: Yeah.

Faith: (Fusses)

Jack: Easy. Easy. Shh.

Ashley: (Whispering) Put her this way. Hi, baby girl. Shh.

Jack: (Whispers) Love you.

Ashley: Love you.

Adam: Hey, you two.

Ashley: Shh. (Whispering) Hi.

Adam: (Whispering) Did I hear, uh, did I hear Jack?

Ashley: Yeah, he just left.

Adam: (Sighs) He must be going through hell with Sharon's baby being stillborn.

Ashley: I know. He feels terrible that Nick and Sharon lost another child.

Adam: Yeah, that's gotta be rough. I, uh, ran into Sharon. She, uh, she was talking about funeral homes. Do you know if there are any nearby?

Ashley: Oh. (Sighs) Yeah, I think there's one just a few blocks north of here.

Adam: I was thinking about having, uh, my driver take-- take--take Nick and Sharon to-- to the nearest funeral home if it's close.

Ashley: Why this sudden urge to help Nick and Sharon?

Adam: Victor's not the only one who got a second chance. I-I want to make sure that-- that everything's different from now on.

Ashley: Mm, I feel the same way.

Adam: I'll talk to you soon?

Ashley: Yeah. Thanks for stopping by.

Adam: Pick me up out front. Quickly.

Noah: (Sighs)

Nick: (Sighs) So how'd you find out?

Noah: Mom called... (Sighs) Asked if she could see me. I could tell she'd been crying, so I went to her suite at the club.

Nick: That must have been a shock.

Noah: Not really. It's not like I didn't know you and Mom almost got back together. And then that crazy lady caused Summer to have that allergic reaction. Everyone was scared to death she might die. I understand why Mom didn't say anything about you being the dad.

Nick: You know, you are a lot more mature than I was at your age.

Noah: (Sighs) Not always.

Nick: What do you mean?

Noah: Wanting to get emancipated? I acted like a spoiled brat. But, hey, I am so over that. I-I just want to help you guys. Whatever I can do.

Nick: That's a nice gesture, son. It really is. But the last thing your mother and I want is for you to stop living your life.

Man: So what can I do for you?

Adam: I'm here on my family's behalf. Actually, uh, my niece was born a few days ago. Unfortunately, she didn't make it.

Man: I'm sorry for your loss.

Adam: Yeah, it's been difficult. I, uh, can I trouble you for some water?

Man: Of course.

(Liquid pouring)

Man: Here you go. (Sighs)

Adam: (Clears throat) Thank you.

Man: Oh!

Adam: I-I'm sorry.

Man: That's--that's fine. I'll just run in back and get some paper towels.

Adam: I'm sorry about that.

Adam: "Baby Doe." Perfect.

Billy: Adam?

Ashley: Once mommy gets her act together, we're gonna have a wonderful life. You'll see.

Nikki: Hi.

Nikki: Oh, she's beautiful.

Ashley: Thank you.

Nikki: You know, you and I haven't really had a chance to talk since I came back.

Ashley: Yeah. I'm glad you stopped by, Nikki. It'll give us a chance to clear the air about that night of the storm. You know, when you left town.

[Nikki remembering]

Nikki: I have only loved one man with my entire soul, and that man is you. And it doesn't matter how many other women you may marry or how many children you might bring into this world. I believe that deep down, you know in your heart that you'll never, ever love another woman like me.

Nikki: Okay. Let's get it all out in the open.

Jack: Oh, that's great. It means a lot, little brother. What do you got planned?

Billy: Well, nothing too generic. CeeCee was too unique for that.

Jack: Yeah, that she was. Hey, listen, before I forget, I just saw Ashley. She has decided once she gets Faith settled into a regular routine, she's coming back to Jabot.

Steve: That must make you happy.

Jack: Oh, happy? It makes me ecstatic. All the Abbott siblings back where they belong. Now if we could just get Traci to stop writing books and come back to G.C., we'd be great.

Traci: (Chuckles)

Steve: (Chuckles)

Billy: Jack, can I talk to you for a minute?

Jack: Sure.

Billy: Um, would you guys excuse us? Thanks. (Clears throat)

Jack: Hey.

Billy: (Sighs)

Jack: What's up?

Billy: Jack, I was gonna wait to tell you this till after CeeCee's services, but, um, I've made my decision. I'm gonna resign from Jabot.

Adam: I need it delivered to Sharon Abbott at the Genoa City Athletic Club. It's imperative that the package be delivered today. Great. Thanks.

Sharon: I would have come sooner, but...

Victor: Did you have the baby?

Sharon: Your granddaughter didn't make it.

Victor: What happened?

Sharon: There were just some abnormalities, and the doctor said she didn't have a chance.

Victor: Oh, Sweetheart. Is there anything I can do to help?

Sharon: You've always been so great to me, Victor, even after Nick and I got divorced.

Victor: You will always be part of my family.

Sharon: Which is why you need to focus on getting better. I'll tell you one thing-- the world wouldn't be the same without Victor Newman in it. My world wouldn't be the same.

Nikki: So you know about that night.

(Tires squealing)

Ashley: Well, for a while, no, I didn't. Um, I would just get occasional flashes, you know, but I didn't know what was real and what wasn't, because, well, Patty had me seeing ghosts. (Chuckles)

Nikki: I'm sorry. I-I don't understa--

Ashley: I just want you to know something, Nikki, I-- (Chuckles) I'm sorry. I-I didn't know what I was doing. I mean, it wasn't intentional.

Nikki: Are we having the same conversation?

Ashley: I'm talking about that night that you were at the ranch, the night of the storm. I was driving Victor's car. It was raining so hard. And I was frightened and upset, and I was blinded, but I-I knew somebody was in the road, and I thought that--

Nikki: You were driving the car that almost hit me?

Billy: Look, Jack, I-I just need something that's mine-- not Dad's, not yours.

Jack: Okay, be honest with me. What is this really about? Is this doing what you normally do? You're running away?

Billy: I'm not running, Jack.

Jack: Do you have any idea how many guys your age would kill for the job you have?

Mac: What's going on?

Jack: I'll tell you what's going on. Billy here is talking about leaving the family company, walking away from job security, leaving a multimillion-dollar company our father spent his lifetime building--for what? So you could run away and join the circus?

Mac: I'm pretty sure that's not what he had in mind.

Jack: Billy, we all lost Colleen. We're all emotional right now. This is no time to be making rash decisions.

Billy: This isn't a rash decision, Jack. I've been thinking about this for quite some time now.

Jack: Would you try to talk some sense into him?

Mac: I support Billy, if this is what he wants.

Jack: Well, let's see how that works for you when he's back at his old barstool at Jimmy's every night.

Billy: Keep the job.

Ashley: I spent weeks trying to piece together what was real and what wasn't. I just knew that I'd hit something.

Nikki: I-it wasn't me.

Ashley: But you-- you were in the road that night.

Nikki: Yes, I was. I-I was a wreck. I had just broken off my wedding to Paul, and I'd had a very unsettling conversation with Victor. I called a taxi, and--and I was walking in the rain out to the main road to wait for it, and I saw some headlights coming my way. I thought it was Victor's car. And then when it looked like the car wasn't slowing down, I-I dove out of the way.

Ashley: I'm so sorry. I could have killed you.

Nikki: I just had a few scrapes. I-it--it was fine. I lost my necklace.

Ashley: Actually, Victor found that out by Zapato's grave.

Nikki: I guess during that whole thing, I also lost my cell phone, but at that time, I just wanted to get out of there.

Ashley: So all those weeks I spent worrying...

Nikki: I was safe and sound in Colorado.

Ashley: (Chuckles) Well, thank God.

Nikki: I sent letters. I sent letters to Victor and the kids. Don't ask me why they never got them.

Ashley: Yeah, it's strange. If they--if they'd gotten there, I would have, um, I would have been saved a lot of grief and a lot of guilt.

Nikki: (Sighs) Did you tell Victor you thought you had hit me?

Ashley: Yeah.

Nikki: (Sighs) So that explains when I showed up at the hospital--

Ashley: Yeah. I thought that-- well, I thought that, you know, you were haunting me the way I thought Sabrina was haunting me when it was Patty.

Nikki: I am so sorry. (Sighs) Thank God we had the chance to clear this up.

Ashley: I know. Um, I just want to put this horrible summer behind me and forget how I let myself be used and manipulated.

Nikki: That's interesting.

Ashley: What?

Nikki: Your daughter looks just like Nicholas did when he was born.

Noah: So I was thinking, maybe I could spend some time with Summer, take her to the park or a movie or something.

Nick: She'd love that.

Noah: I missed my little princess while she was in Europe.

Nick: (Chuckles)

Noah: Why are you looking at me like that?

Nick: I know what it's like to grow up when your parents are in a messed-up relationship. I didn't want that for you.

Noah: It's no secret Grandpa has done some pretty bad stuff to you.

Nick: Yes, he has.

Noah: But I watched you when we were waiting for him to come out of surgery and we didn't know if he was gonna make it. It made me realize something.

Nick: What's that?

Noah: If you can forgive your dad, there's no reason I can't forgive mine. (Sighs) Let me know about what you're gonna do for services for the baby. I want to be there to say good-bye.

Nick: You're a good boy, and I love you, buddy.

Noah: (Sighs) I love you, too, Dad.

Nick: Hey, it's me. I know you are at the movies right now. I just wanted you to know that I was gonna leave for a little bit. I may be back when you get home. If not, uh, I went to see my dad.

Victor: You're not alone. The entire family's here for you.

Sharon: Well, I've put you all through so much with my legal problems and, um...

Victor: (Sighs)

Sharon: The trouble I've caused in Nick's marriage. And Nick has been a rock for me, but...

Victor: But what?

Sharon: I'm just--I-I'm done counting on other people.

Victor: Mm-hmm. Well, I hope that doesn't mean that you will shut us out.

Sharon: No. I would never do that. But Nick needs to focus on Phyllis and Summer.

Victor: Now you listen to me. He will love them. But I've lived a little longer than you have, and I can tell you that there are different kinds of love.

Sharon: What do you mean?

Victor: What Nicholas feels for you will never go away. You're the love of my son's life.

Sharon: You get well soon.

(Cell phone rings)

Adam: Hello? The package arrived at the club? Yeah. Thanks.

Billy: (Chuckles)

Ashley: So no black tomorrow?

Billy: Nope. Screw tradition.

Ashley: Colleen would definitely approve of that.

Billy: Yeah, she would. The girl was a rebel. Little Faith.

Ashley: Hey, you know what, Billy? You could have called me and told me about the service.

Billy: Oh, what? And miss out on the munchkin? No way.

Ashley: You okay?

Billy: Yeah, you know... well... (Sighs) Jack and I got into it again.

Ashley: About what?

Billy: (Sighs) He's pissed because I'm gonna resign from Jabot. A-and--and I know what you're gonna say. Uh, it-- I just haven't been happy there in a long time, and right now, I really need something I need to be passionate about, and who knows? Maybe I can come back and work with you guys, but right now, I-I gotta go.

Ashley: I understand.

Billy: You do?

Ashley: I do. I know what it's like to convince yourself that you love something with all your heart, only to realize that it wasn't love at all. It was obligation. So go follow your own path, and make yourself happy, and we'll all be there for you, even Jack. I promise.

Billy: All right, thank you.

Ashley: (Chuckles) You're welcome.

Billy: (Chuckles) Um, I'd love to stay, but I've gotta get back to the house.

Ashley: Okay.

Billy: So, okay?

Ashley: I'll see you tomorrow.

Billy: Bye. Thank you.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Billy: (Silly voice) Bye. (Growls) (Chuckles)

Ashley: Hi, Sweetheart. I hope someday you're gonna forgive me for what I'm about to do. I know it's the best thing for both of us.

Nikki: Adam?

Adam: Nikki?

Nikki: Yeah. Um, I'm headed back to Victor's room. Do you want to go with me?

Adam: You don't have to be nice to me. I-I know you think I'm a creep.

Nikki: Well, I haven't forgotten some of the stunts you pulled last year.

Adam: I have made some mistakes, done some unforgivable things.

Nikki: Yes, you have. But in spite of that, Victor loves you. He wants to forgive you.

Adam: Do you really believe that?

Nikki: You have been given a second chance, my friend. But it's up to you to prove if you deserve it.

Victor: (Sighs) (Sighs) Hey, my boy.

Nick: Hey. I didn't mean to disturb you.

Victor: You're not. How's Summer?

Nick: She's good. Mm-hmm. She's with Phyllis and Michael and Lauren and Fen. They went to the movies.

Victor: How's her therapy going?

Nick: It's humming right along.

Victor: Hmm.

Nick: The night before you got shot, I said some things to you about Patty, and...

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nick: What she did to my daughter.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nick: I meant that, and I still do.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nick: (Voice breaking) But in the last 48 hours, I almost lost you.

Nick: And Sharon and I, we--we did lose a--

Victor: I know. Sharon was here.

Nick: It's happening all over again.

Victor: Are you thinking about Cassíe?

Nick: I can't face saying good-bye to another daughter and stay angry at you.

(Sniffles)

Victor: My boy, you have me.

Nick: Good, 'cause I need my dad right now.

Nick: (Sobbing)

Jack: (Sighs) Hey, hold up. Look, I shouldn't have been that rough on you earlier.

Billy: Hey, just let's do it later, okay? Right now, the only thing that counts is planning CeeCee's memorial.

Jack: Agreed.

Mac: Okay. Everything is set at the party store, and we can pick up our order first thing in the morning.

Steve: I called everybody on the list. (Sighs) Told them to dress colorfully.

Billy: Traci, are you okay with this type of service? I mean, if it makes you uncomfortable, I can--I can--

Traci: Oh, no, Billy. It's perfect. I was just thinking about Dad.

Jack: What about him?

Traci: You know, this family's been through so much this last couple of years. First, we lost Daddy, and then Brad, and now Colleen. And it's just a wonder we haven't fallen all apart.

Billy: Well, what's that old saying? "When the going get tough, the tough get going"?

Traci: Billy, it's really true. I mean, I-I could be curled up in a ball somewhere, but instead, we're planning a party, a celebration of Colleen's life. This has given me something to hope for.

Billy: I don't know. I think it's giving all of us something to hope for.

Traci: I can--I can just see Dad... (Chuckles) Looking down on us, you know, with Brad and Colleen at his side saying, "Way to go, kids."

Victor: I bet you Cassie's in heaven right now giving your little baby girl the grand tour.

Nick: I know I have so much to be thankful for. Mom's back safe and sound where she belongs, and you're alive. Noah's got his head on straight again, and Summer's getting better every day. I have more miracles in my life than one person's supposed to have.

Nick: I never even got to see my baby.

Nikki: (Sighs)

Nick: I never got to hold her one time. Why couldn't I have just one more miracle?

Sharon: My name is Sharon Abbott. I was a patient at your facility recently, and I had a baby there. Um, she was stillborn, and I'm just trying to figure out what happened with her remains. Um, the doctor, Dr. Taylor, told me that he would handle it for me. There's no one on your staff by that name?

(Knock on door)

Sharon: Um, someone's knocking at my door. Can I call you later?

Man: Sharon Abbott?

Sharon: Yes?

Man: This was delivered a little while ago by messenger.

Sharon: Thank you.

[Adam remembering]

Hope: Did you pack your winter coat?

Adam: Of course.

Hope: What about the laptop I bought you and your toothbrush?

Adam: Mom, I'm going to Harvard, not the Sahara desert. I'm sure they sell toothbrushes there.

Hope: I'm so proud of you.

Adam: Thanks.

Hope: You're a good man with a good heart.

Adam: Come on, Mom. You promised you weren't gonna cry.

Hope: You're gonna do wonderful things in your life, Sweetie.

Adam: (Sniffles) (Sighs) (Whispering) I'm sorry. I'm sorry I let you down, Mom. (Sobbing) (Sobs)

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Victoria: I have a letter from my father. May I read it aloud?

Neil: Honey, you're not looking so hot.

Lily: No, it's just a hot flash.

Cane: No, no. I'm calling the doctor.

Nikki: Oh, my God. Victor!
