Lily: Wow, overprotective much?
Cane: No. (Chuckles)
Lily: (Chuckles)
Cane: No, I-I'm just making sure. Your--your white blood cell count's dropping. I'm not gonna risk you getting an infection.
Lily: But I feel fine, okay? Surprisingly fine.
Cane: Well, there you go. Let's just keep it that way.
Lily: (Chuckles) Okay.
Cane: All right?
Lily: (Groans) Thanks.
Mac: Hi.
Lily: Hey.
Mac: You must be feeling pretty good.
Lily: Yeah, you know, this chemo thing is a breeze.
Cane: (Chuckles)
Lily: (Chuckles) I'd knock on wood, but he'd probably make me sanitize my hands again.
Cane: Absolutely positively.
Lily: (Chuckles)
Mac: Well, you look terrific.
Lily: Thank you. Oh, and thanks for, uh, watching Humphrey for us that very first night.
Mac: Oh, please, you barely got him back.
Cane: I don't get it. What is this thing with Humphrey? What? He's small. He's short. He's hairy. He's got bad breath. But you women find him irresistible. Can you explain this to me?
Mac: Oh, not just me. Billy's crazy about that dog.
Lily: No.
Mac: Mm-hmm.
Lily: He called him a-a yippy little fur ball.
(Chuckles)
Mac: (Laughs) I think he's just embarrassed to show his sensitive side.
Cane: Oh, so that's why he's never shown it before, huh?
Lily: Okay, I-I've gotta call and give him a hard time. Is he at work?
Mac: No, he's with Chloe.
Cane: What, are they-- what, is he visiting Cordelia?
Mac: Mnh-mnh. Signing divorce papers.
Billy: Um, you know, I, uh, I have some questions about the settlement agreement.
Chloe: I-I don't get it. We--we discussed and you agreed to everything in that settlement agreement. You don't think I'm trying to pull something over on you, do you?
Billy: Oh, she's perfect.
Chloe: (Sighs)
Billy: (Chuckles) You've done good. My little girl.
Chloe: Hi, bug.
Billy: I'm just, uh, rethinking everything right now.
Gloria: What happened? You lose a bet?
Jill: I lost everything, Gloria, just like you.
Gloria: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not this low.
Jill: You're exactly this low, or you wouldn't be patronizing this dump.
Gloria: Hey, careful. The customer's always right.
Jill: (Sighs) I have nothing to be ashamed of. There's dignity in hard work.
Gloria: Oh, I couldn't agree more. That's why I'm gonna take a big stack of your cards and hand them out to everybody I know.
Jill: You do that, I will kill you.
Gloria: Ooh, a C.E.O. of Chancellor Industries, scraping cuticles for minimum wage.
Jill: Just pick a damn color, and let's get this over with.
Gloria: Well, I was going to have just a classic manicure.
Jill: Fine.
Gloria: But I'm reconsidering. I think we'll start with an exfoliating sea scrub, a nice hot oil soak, a paraffin dip, and finish off with a nice French manicure.
Jill: You will take what I give you and like it.
Milly: Is everything okay here?
Gloria: Mm-hmm.
Jill: Everything's just fine.
Gloria: Okay, come on, Sweetie.
Jill: (Sighs)
Gloria: I can't be hanging around this dump all day.
Jeff: How long does it take to slap some paint on your nails? Look, this is the break we've been dying for. The reward money's ours, probably even more, if we deliver that nut job to Victor before the cops get to her. Hurry up and get back here. I need you. I cannot handle a wacko like Mary Jane Benson on my own.
Jack: What's this about Mary Jane Benson?
Jeff: (Chuckles)
Chance: Look, I have a warrant for Ms. Benson's arrest.
Paul: You gonna raid a church?
Chance: Please, just go inside. Talk to her. Explain the situation that's going on here.
Paul: I'm not turning her. She has had a psychotic break. She needs medical attention.
Chance: I understand. I'm sure once we get the suspect into our custody, we can help--
Paul: That is not good enough.
Chance: Paul, listen to me.
Paul: That is not good enough!
Chance: You either bring her out, or we're coming in.
Heather: I'm sorry. I can't let you do this. Look, waiting a couple more minutes isn't gonna hurt anything.
Paul: She is unarmed. She is not going anywhere.
Heather: Yeah, and I have a call in to my boss, the second-in-command. He's gonna want to weigh in.
Chance: Look, I take my orders from the chief of police.
Paul: Look, Phillip, you have known me your whole life. I am a law-and-order guy. Th-there is stuff going on here. The woman inside this church has been used and manipulated. She's been set up.
Chance: Who? By who?
Paul: She was afraid to tell me, okay? But if you traumatize her now, we may never find out.
Chance: Paul, I am sorry. I really am, but you're out of time.
Heather: Owen. Owen. Come here. Owen Pomerantz, senior A.D.A. Detective Chancellor.
Owen: Oh, Chancellor?
Chance: Yes, Sir. Uh, we were actually just getting ready to arrest Ms. Benson.
Owen: Uh, hold off for a sec. Uh, Paul, Heather filled me in. I understand how shocked you must be, and concerned. Now in Dennis' absence, I give you my personal guarantee your sister will not be mistreated.
Paul: Look, she can't go to jail. Sh-she wo--she won't survive. She won't be found competent to stand trial anyway.
Owen: You can't make that determination.
Paul: No, you-- you don't understand. She is delusional. She is living 20 to 30 years ago in her mind.
Owen: All right, we'll get her a psych evaluation.
Paul: All right, fine. Here. Now. Not in jail.
Owen: That's not how the system works, Paul. You know that.
Paul: I know exactly what the system will do to her. That's why I'm not letting you take her.
Chance: Sir, I have my orders.
Owen: (Sighs) All right, look, call the chief. Tell him I'm negotiating, uh, terms for a peaceful surrender.
Paul: There will be no surrender, except on my terms.
Owen: You got 20 minutes.
Heather: Yeah.
Owen: Get through to your father before this turns into a P.R. nightmare.
Paul: I-I know. We met at a press conference. Yeah, listen, I have a story here that I'm sure your viewers will want to know about.
Jeff: Mary Jane?
Jack: You were just talking about her.
Jeff: Isn't everybody? Pretty price on that pretty head.
Jack: So every private investigator and every cop in this state is looking for her. What makes you think you can find her?
Jeff: Simple. I want it more.
Mac: Hi, Jack.
Jack: Hey, how you doing?
Mac: Good.
Jack: Hey, I understand this is a pretty big day for you and Billy.
Mac: Yeah, I wasn't sure you heard about the divorce.
Jack: Yeah, Billy filled me in. I guess all systems are go, huh?
Mac: I know that you really were hoping he could work it out with Chloe.
Jack: Hey, that is nothing against you. You know that, right?
Mac: I do. I understand. You're worried about Delia, and, no, it's not the ideal situation, but Billy's gonna be really involved in her life, just like you're gonna be involved in your new baby's life. And maybe I shouldn't have brought that up.
Jack: No, no, no, no, no. I'm--I'm very excited about the baby. Actually, it's the baby's mother I'm worried about.
Mac: How's Sharon doing?
Jack: Hard to tell with her. (Sighs)
Mac: She hides how she feels?
Jack: It's her idea of being brave.
Mac: (Chuckles) I can relate. But I think that the truth is admitting how you really feel, even when it's not what you're supposed to feel, that's real bravery. I learned that from Billy.
Jack: Wow, Billy a good influence. Wonders never cease.
Mac: They never do. And that's another thing I learned from Billy.
Cane: You're not hungry?
Lily: Um, I'm just starting to feel a little tired. But I'm sure it's normal. You know, my first day without the steroids. The nurses said that there'd be a little bit of a crash.
Cane: So two divorces in one year for Chloe-- that must be some kind of record, huh?
Lily: Has it really only been a year?
Cane: (Chuckles) Well, technically, it's, uh, it's Chloe and my anniversary, so...
Lily: How can you even laugh about that?
Billy: Guys, look. I mean, my--my schedule, it is absolutely unpredictable, and these visiting hours, they might work now, but next week, you know?
Woman: Typically, parents make these adjustments on an ad hoc basis.
Billy: Wonderful, but I really think that it should be written in here that, uh, I get a guaranteed certain amount of hours to see my child every week.
Chloe: I want you to see Delia. That's not going to be a problem. You know that.
Billy: Well, you say that now, and-- and this--where is it? This part right--right here where it says that I have to reimburse her for every penny that she spends on the kid? I mean, have you seen this woman shop? I can't agree to this. I--why did I agree to that? I can't agree to that.
Chloe: What's going on? What's with all this resistance?
Billy: (Sighs)
Cordelia: (Coos) (Coos)
Chloe: You'd celebrate your daddy's birthday, right?
Billy: I just--I don't-- I don't--I don't want to rush this. This is important.
Chloe: You agreed to everything that is in there.
Billy: Yeah, but I was in a hurry. I just wanted to get it done.
Chloe: And now you're not?
Billy: L-look, I just need more time to look it over, okay?
Woman: Ten minutes? An hour?
Billy: How about we reschedule? Does that work?
Chloe: You're having second thoughts.
Billy: I think I clearly just said that.
Chloe: Not about the settlement. About us.
Billy: Come on.
Heather: Look, Paul, I want to help her, too, okay? We should just--we should do it within the system.
Paul: Heather, you are never going to be allowed to handle this case, and I'm never gonna have more influence than I do right now.
Heather: Okay, but there is no legal precedent for sanctuary. They can arrest her in this church.
Paul: Right. But they don't want to. That gives me leverage. You see, what you don't understand is that my sister has been victimized time and time again. And if I don't stand up for her now, right here, nobody else will.
Patty: You're my little niece. You're all grown up, huh? I almost had a baby once. Did you know that? With your uncle Jack. Yeah. We would have had beautiful children. Pretty and blonde just like you. You know what? I really, really wish that Jack was here.
Paul: I know you do.
Heather: Look, Paul, I'm-- I'm worried this situation is gonna get out of control. (Cell phone rings)
Paul: (Sighs) Williams. You are? Uh, yeah, right now? Okay. That's fine. The press has just arrived.
Heather: Oh, no, no. No, no, no. My of--my office doesn't want this going public.
Paul: Which is exactly why I called them. Listen, you stay right here, okay? You promise me? We'll be right back. Let's go.
Heather: (Sighs)
(Kitten meows)
Patty: Hello? Hello? (Gasps) Hi! Oh. (Sighs happily) (Laughs) Hello, little sweetie. Oh, where'd you come from, huh? Where'd you come from? Thank you!
Gloria: You know, I just can't decide. What's this one called?
Jill: Kill me now.
Gloria: (Laughs)
Milly: (Clears throat)
Jill: Okay.
Gloria: You know, my personal favorites are "Gossip" and "Blackmail." Just can't decide which way to go.
Jill: What is it gonna take for you to keep quiet about me working here?
Gloria: Ooh, I just love that question. Why don't you give me a massage, and I'll mull over all the possibilities? Oh! Hey, turn that up.
Woman: I'm here with private investigator Paul Williams, who has taken refuge at St. Jude's church with Mary Jane Benson. Ms. Benson is wanted by police for a number of serious crimes, including the attempted murder of little summer Newman. The police are aware Ms. Benson is here, but so far, they've chosen not to arrest her on church grounds. Mr. Williams, weren't you the one leading the search?
Paul: Yes. My investigation revealed the suspect is a very troubled woman with a history of severe trauma.
Gloria: Don't yell at me. I'm watching right now.
Paul: She is in desperate need of psychiatric care.
Gloria: You're kidding. No, I didn't have my phone on.
Woman: You are, of course, aware that there's a warrant out for her arrest...
Gloria: I'm on my way. I'm on my way.
Woman: Not to mention a million-dollar reward for her capture.
Jill: Where are you going?
Gloria: I forgot, I have a very important appointment.
Jill: (Scoffs)
Paul: I am.
Jill: Come back here!
Milly: Hey!
Jill: Come back!
Paul: But you chose not to turn her in?
Jill: Hmm, she didn't pay. I'll get her. I'll get her.
Paul: I didn't feel it would serve the cause of justice.
Woman: Some would say you're obstructing justice.
Paul: No, I don't see it that way at all. I can't defend the things Ms. Benson has done, but I-I'm--I'm telling you, she doesn't have any awareness of her actions or the consequences.
Mac: Every time I spoke to her, she had a different story, and she really believed them all.
Jack: Of course she did. She's insane. Paul knows that.
Paul: She is a woman with an extremely tenuous hold on reality. What purpose does it serve to imprison someone like that?
Jack: This woman nearly killed Nikki's granddaughter. So why is he suddenly defending her? It doesn't make sense.
Woman: So you say Ms. Benson is in need of medical attention. But you didn't take her to a doctor or a hospital. In fact, you brought her here to St. Jude's. Why is that?
Paul: Well, um, the church has a-a-a long tradition of coming to the aid of someone who can't defend themselves, the--the vulnerable and the despised among us. And Mary Jane Benson fits into that category.
Woman: Well, the pastor of this parish, Father Joseph Hoffman says, he won't intervene if the police decide to make an arrest.
Paul: Well, I have been informed that the district attorney's office is moments away from authorizing a raid.
Woman: Inside the church?
Paul: Yeah, that's right. You see, there has been a lot of fear generated by this case, a lot of hysteria. But I'm telling you that Mary Jane Benson is not a monster.
Patty: (Giggles)
Paul: She is a very fragile woman suffering from a-- a serious mental illness.
Patty: (Humming)
Paul: She has been mistreated, and she has been manipulated.
(Camera shutter clicks)
Paul: And she deserves our compassion. There are so many people in our society that get written off as lost causes.
(Camera shutter clicks)
Paul: I don't want Mary Jane Benson to be one of them.
(Camera shutter clicks)
Cane: I’m not trying to change the subject. I don't mean to make light of what you went through when I was married to Chloe.
Lily: No, what you put me through, Cane. You let me think that you slept with her and that her baby was yours. I will never understand how you could do that to me.
Cane: I-I-I-- look, I'm sorry I brought it up, okay? We were having such a nice time. I--
Lily: I mean, I try to put it out of my mind. I do, because I cannot afford to focus on negative things right now, but that does not mean that I have forgotten.
Cane: I understand, and I'm sorry.
Lily: How can you even be the same person? I mean, no one could be taking better care of me than you are right now, but yet, a year ago--
Cane: That's when I was scared, all right? I was scared. Um, there's no excuse for what I did.
Lily: Yeah, now I'm scared. You're my husband, and I feel like I barely even know who you are.
Cane: No, that is not true. You know who I am. You're just not trusting your judgment yet.
Lily: How can I, when I was so completely clueless? And the story you told me the other day about why you can't go back to Australia because these cattle thieves are trying to kill you? How do I even know that's true?
Cane: You don't know it's true.
Lily: Yeah, you're right. I don't know. You could have six wives and 20 kids back there, for all I know. You know what? Just take me home, please? 'Cause I'm tired.
Billy: Don't read into this.
Chloe: Oh, oh, of course not. How could anyone read into you stalling the finalization of our divorce?
(Clears throat)
Billy: I have legitimate concerns about the fairness of this agreement, okay?
Chloe: Okay. Can we have a minute, please?
Woman: Mm.
Billy: (Clears throat)
Chloe: (Sighs) All right, what's going on?
Billy: I told you.
Chloe: You agreed to everything in that settlement. You practically let me write it. You didn't give a damn. When it comes to Delia, I offered you custody of her, so you know that there is not an issue there. So what is the problem?
Billy: It's a matter of principle.
Chloe: You have principles now?
Billy: Hey, look. You manipulated me into this relationship. You probably got pregnant on purpose, and now you're gonna-- you're gonna prosper from it? It doesn't really settle with me.
Chloe: Okay, what about-- what about me moving on and you seeing me with someone else, and, well, someone else sleeping with your wife and raising your daughter? How's that setting with you?
Billy: (Clicking tongue) You're gonna believe whatever it is you want to believe.
Chloe: Well, what I would really like to believe, Billy, is that if you're having the slightest twinge of regret, then just please call off this entire thing right now so your daughter can actually grow up with both of her parents.
Billy: No, we're way past that now.
Chloe: Ms. Dalton? Um, I-I'm sorry. It seems as if we have wasted your time.
Billy: Yeah, I'm sorry. I should have been better prepared. Um, I'll call to reschedule.
Ms. Dalton: You can sign it now, if you're ready.
Billy: (Clears throat)
Chloe: I'm just going to wait and figure out what Billy wants. Thank you. Ball's in your court.
Billy: (Sighs)
Gloria: (Sighs) If Victor told you where to find Mary Jane, why didn't you just go straight there?
Jeff: Eh, I don't know. I should have. Now the cops are swarming all over the place.
Gloria: Yeah, even if we could get in, we'd never be able to get her out.
Jeff: Well, where there's a million-dollar reward, there's a way. I got an idea. Come on.
Gloria: Yeah.
(Cell phone rings)
Jack: Jack Abbott.
Patty: Why aren't you here? I always thought you'd be the one to save me.
Jack: Mary Jane?
Cane: Would you like to watch a movie? Can I do anything for you? Is there anything that you want?
Lily: You can't undo it, Cane. I lost a year of my life. I will never get that time back.
Cane: I know that.
Lily: And now I won't get this time back either, the time that I am spending reliving those memories.
Cane: Okay, let's-- let's not do this right now, okay?
Lily: I can't help it. Everything is a trigger-- anniversaries like today, or songs on the radio, or places. Like when I was in the hospital, I kept thinking back to when you "Found out" that Billy was the father. You ripped him and Chloe apart for lying to you, when really, you were lying to all of us.
Cane: All right, listen, okay? I-I'm not asking you to understand, all right? But I want you to know that I was just unleashing months--months of confusion, all right? I was--I was so frustrated, because I know that Billy and Chloe-- I just blamed them for tearing us up and breaking us apart. I know--I-I know I could've exposed them, but if I did that, I would have exposed myself, and I just didn't have the courage, and I'm sorry.
Lily: I need you here, Cane. I do. I need you. But I can't keep pretending. I don't have the energy.
Cane: You can say anything you want to say to me, and I won't go anywhere. I promise you, okay? I'll be here for you, because I want you to know you're safe with me.
Billy: (Groans) (Sighs)
[Billy remembering]
Chloe: "The thing that charms me most about Billy-- the way he walks into a room and commands attention without even trying. The thing I envy most about Billy-- his wit, his worldliness, his ability to make a perfect appletini, the way he can eat anything, I mean, anything with chopsticks. Soup, okay? (Chuckles) And his uncanny knack for telling a real Rolex from a fake. The thing I admire most about Billy-- his intelligence, his loyalty, his fearlessness, his talent. But my absolute favorite thing about Billy is how good he looks standing next to me."
Billy: (Clears throat) Hey, uh, could I get a scotch? Neat, please.
Mac: Hi, Chloe. How are you?
Chloe: (Sighs) Confused.
Mac: Why?
Chloe: I don't know. You should ask my husband.
Mac: Don't you mean ex-husband?
Chloe: N-no.
Mac: You refused to sign the papers.
Chloe: (Chuckles) No, actually, I was ready. Billy wasn't ready to sign the papers. Weird, huh?
Jack: Listen to me. Things will go a whole lot better for you if you turn yourself in voluntarily.
Patty: Jack, why are we wasting time talking when I need you here?
Jack: You really expect me to rush over and rescue you?
Patty: Not just me. Our baby.
Jack: What?
Patty: Yeah, our baby. I'm pregnant, Jack. Y-you are coming and-- and helping us, aren't you? You're not gonna let 'em hurt us.
Jack: I'm on my way.
Mac: Was that Billy?
Jack: N-no. That was Mary Jane.
Mac: Oh, my God. What did she want?
Jack: Me, on a white charger.
Mac: What are you gonna do?
Jack: I'm gonna convince her to give herself up.
Mac: Good luck.
Jeff: Jack, got a proposition for you.
Jack: No, thanks.
Jeff: Uh, can't miss.
Jack: I'm not interested.
Jeff: It's about Victor. I got a plan that'll bring him to his knees. I know you can't say no to that.
Billy: (Sighs) Hey.
Mac: Hi.
Billy: Hi. Mm. Mm.
Mac: Ooh.
Billy: What?
Mac: Scotch?
Billy: Oh, yeah, scotch.
Mac: Was it that bad at the mediator's?
Billy: Oh, it just-- being around Chloe, it makes me tense, you know? Anyway, uh, we're gonna need another meeting before the divorce is final. It's, uh, kind of, uh--
Mac: I heard.
Billy: You did?
Mac: Yeah, Chloe told me.
Billy: Oh, great. Oh, great. I can only imagine how she put it. What did she say? That I, uh, came to my senses, realized I couldn't live without her, dropped to my knees and begged her to let me get another chance, right? Is that how she said it?
Mac: Mnh-mnh. She said she was confused. So am I.
Billy: All I need to do is--is--is look over the terms of the--the agreement again and make sure that there's nothing in here that I'm gonna regret later.
Mac: You're worried you're gonna regret it?
Billy: Not the divorce. Just the terms of the business transaction.
Mac: I thought that you said you didn't care about the details.
Billy: That was back when I thought Chloe was gonna put a big fight up, and--and--and I'd be lucky to get out with my scalp intact, but she made it way too easy today.
Mac: And that bothers you.
Billy: Well, yeah, it makes me suspicious. I want to know what she's up to.
Mac: Maybe she really thought you were ready to move on.
Billy: I am. Don't--don't misunderstand what this is.
Mac: This morning, you couldn't wait to be free.
Billy: I am free. I'm free. This is just paperwork. I need to go over it once again. Then I'm gonna sign it, then... done.
Mac: Don’t.
Billy: Don't what?
Mac: Don't sign it.
Billy: (Scoffs)
Mac: If you're not sure, then I'm not sure.
Billy: I-- come on. (Groans) (Chuckles)
Chloe: So then Billy says that we need to reschedule. He's not ready to sign the papers. You realize what this means.
Esther: Yeah, it's still not over.
Chloe: No, it real-- it means that I'm right. I'm right. I'm not crazy. He still feels it, too, the connection that we have. He still loves me.
Esther: Sweetie, I know that Billy cares about you and Delia, but what he's offering you isn't near what you deserve.
Chloe: Well, no, not yet.
Esther: Yeah, for all you know, he's already signed those papers.
Chloe: Well, I haven't, and I don't plan on it. Mom, I was crazy. I was crazy to think that I could actually make him realize it when all I had to do was just back off and let him realize it himself.
Esther: You already did back out. You moved out.
Chloe: Yeah, but-- but he knew that I didn't mean it. He knew that I didn't mean it, and if he wanted me back, he could have had me back in a second. (Snaps fingers) He is jealous. He is freaking out that I am moving on, and not just today. Not just today, because he was with Mac, supposedly the love of his life, and he was crazy jealous when he saw me with Chance. I mean, this entire time, I have been trying to get Chance on Mac when all I had to do was let Billy see me with Chance.
Esther: Oh, Katie, come on. Chance is a nice guy, and he likes you. It wouldn't be fair to take advantage of that.
Chloe: Yeah, but I-I don't really like him, though. You know, he's a nice guy and all, but there's nothing there. Chance will have fun.
Esther: (Sighs)
Chloe: And Billy-- Billy will finally get his wake-up call, and Delia and I will get the family that we always wanted. It's actually perfect.
Esther: (Sighs)
Chloe: Well, except for Mac, but that's not my problem.
Jack: What makes you think I would want to partner with you on anything?
Jeff: Jack, in order to bring down Victor, you'd partner with the devil himself.
Jack: The devil has some idea what he's doing.
Jeff: Well, see? That's my point exactly. I'm in way over my head. I admit it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a real "David and Goliath" moment. The giant can be felled, but I-if you don't help me, I'm afraid I'll completely screw it up.
Jack: Such humility.
Jeff: Well, I-I know my limitations, but I also know Victor’s. Certain things are about to happen, Jack. The wheels are in motion.
Jack: Care to be a little more specific?
Jeff: Sorry. Can’t.
Jack: You're wasting my time.
Jeff: Jack. Jack, I-- I know there's not a lot of trust between us, but, um, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?
Jack: In your case, I'll make an exception. I'm outta here.
Jeff: Jack, this conversation never happened.
Jack: Don't I wish.
Owen: Well, your father got his wish. There's public uproar, exactly what I was trying to avoid. We go in there now, she's Maria von Trapp, and we're the Nazis storming the convent.
Chance: Well, it looks like Paul just won this round.
Heather: Honestly, it's not a bargaining tactic. He is scared to death for my aunt. She really, really needs help.
Owen: (Sighs) All right, Paul. What's it gonna take?
Paul: I want her placed under house arrest with an ankle monitor at my home. 24-hour security, my expense.
Owen: (Scoffs) You gotta be kidding me.
Paul: Really? That is exactly the same deal your office offered Victor Newman and his son Adam. So if you deny my request, I will make sure everybody in this town knows there is one brand of justice for the rich and the powerful and another for the rest of us. So what's it gonna be?
Lily: (Sighs)
Cane: Are you feeling worse?
Lily: It just hit me so fast.
Cane: Maybe you're doing too much too soon.
Lily: Look at me. Oh, I'm acing chemo and I'm forgiving my husband. It's all so easy. None of it is gonna be that easy, is it?
Cane: Mm, I'm afraid not.
Lily: (Sighs) I really thought I was getting over what you did, too. And I made you think I was, also.
Cane: Look, I know we have a lot to work through. But it doesn't have to happen right away. You know it doesn't even have to happen if you don't want it to. There's just one thing I'm asking from you, and that's just let me help you.
Lily: I'm gonna go to bed.
Cane: Come here. Do you want me to lay down with you?
Lily: (Sighs) No, thank you.
(Sighs)
Cane: (Sighs)
Chloe: You know what? I'm gonna give my new boyfriend a call right now.
Esther: Katie, don't you know? Chance is in the middle of that big standoff.
Chloe: What standoff?
Esther: That crazy lady Mary Jane Benson, she's holed up in some church.
Chloe: And Chance is there?
Esther: Yeah. They interviewed him on TV.
Chloe: Well, it's perfect. Mm-hmm.
Chloe: Hey, there, housemate. Um, so I hear that you are out playing "Super cop." But you be careful now, 'cause I'm sort of getting used to the way that you burn my coffee in the morning. I gotta say, I'm sort of relieved. Um, I know how much you hate to be bored, and I was getting a little worried that this sleepy little town wasn't keeping you interested, so when this is all over with, how about we, uh, find a way to keep that adrenaline rush going, yeah? Okay, bye. Talk to you soon. (Chuckles)
Esther: (Sighs)
Chloe: That ought to do it.
Esther: Mm-hmm.
Chloe: Want some more coffee?
Esther: Sure. (Sighs)
Billy: (Sighs) All right. (Sighs)
Heather: Heather Stevens.
Chance: Both doors. Great.
Heather: Yes.
Jill: (Sighs) (Whispering) Hello.
Jeff: (Whispering) Jill, my God. What are you doing?
Jill: Whatever you're up to, I'm in on it, too, remember?
Patty: Oh, you poor little thing. Hi. Are you scared? Are you scared? You know, you don't need to be. You don't need to be, because there's a wonderful man who's gonna come and get us out of here. Yes, he will. (Giggles) Come here. (Sighs) What should I call you? Hmm? (Giggles) I already had a "Kitty." Hmm? How about "Kitty Kitty"? Do you like Kitty Kitty? Yes? (Laughs) I'm gonna call you Kitty Kitty. Yeah. (Sighs)
Owen: Adam Wilson isn't violent. He's not a threat to the community. Your sister poisoned a child, Paul. Grandstand all you want. No one's gonna want her for a neighbor.
Paul: I will keep her from hurting anyone.
Owen: Oh? Who's gonna protect you?
Paul: Oh, come on. That was an accident.
Owen: You're not a doctor. You can't give her what--what she needs.
Paul: I will get her doctors. I will--I will--I'll get her all the care she needs. I will buy a house for her in the country. I will keep her safe.
Owen: Paul--
Paul: Listen to me. She's slipping away, minute by minute. You drag her somewhere and lock her up, she's not gonna survive. It's--
Jack: Paul?
Paul: Jack.
Owen: Uh, let him through.
Jack: Thanks. Mary Jane called me.
Paul: Just now?
Jack: Yeah. Uh, she wants me to get her out of there. If you guys will okay this, I think I can get through to her, make her understand people really want to help.
Paul: I'll take him in.
Jack: Thanks.
Owen: (Sighs)
Jack: Hey, what the hell is going on? One minute you're bound and determined to lock her away.
Paul: I didn't know the whole story.
Jack: You do now?
Paul: Not all of it, but I do know why she's fixated on you and why she looked familiar to me. Jack, she's not Mary Jane Benson. She's my sister, your ex-wife.
Jack: Patty?
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Nick: Last night, I went to see Sharon in her hospital.
Phyllis: I was there. I saw you.
Sharon: You don't get it, okay? Jack is not the baby's father. Nick is.
Chance: What's going on? What are her demands? Did she ask for anything? Does she need anything?
Jack: Her demands are she wants to get married.
