Man: Gorgeous ring. Looks lovely on you. I sold one recently to a gentleman who is renewing his wedding vows with his wife. Very romantic, don't you think?
[Sharon remembering]
Sharon: You still believe that the baby I'm carrying is yours-- it's the one that Cassie predicted?
Nick: Yes. It's the future we were meant to have.
Nick: Noah will probably tell you this himself. Yesterday, Phyllis and I renewed our vows in front of the justice of the peace. So our family's back together, for real this time.
Man: Ma'am, are you-- are you all right? Can I help you? Wait, stop, y-you're wearing the ring. Steve, go after her.
Victoria: Sorry it's so late. I saw the light on, so...
Nick: It's all good. Just doing some reading. Summer and Phyllis crashed a little while ago.
Victoria: Same with J.T. and Reed. I couldn't sleep, so here I am.
Nick: On a night with a big storm, you decided to come and visit your most favorite person in the whole wide world.
Victoria: I'll take a beer, by the way.
Nick: (Scoffs)
Victoria: Bottle is fine.
Nick: Done.
Victoria: (Laughs)
Nick: All right.
Victoria: All right.
Nick: Great minds.
Victoria: Yes.
Nick: I like it. What should we drink to?
Victoria: Well, how about...
Nick: (Grunts)
Victoria: How about Mom and Paul, since they're walking down the aisle tomorrow?
Nick: Oh, yeah.
Victoria: Yeah?
Nick: How about that-- Mom and Paul?
Victoria: Yeah.
Nick: You know, I'm so happy for her.
Victoria: (Sighs)
Nick: Paul's a great guy. Maybe this time, it'll stick.
Victoria: Yeah. Here's to sticking.
(Bottles clink)
Nick: To sticking. Mmm. Ahh.
Victoria: Speaking of which, did you know that J.T.'s parents have been married for 35 years?
Nick: Really? Wow, that is awesome.
Victoria: Imagine being with the same person for that long... imagine having parents that have been together your entire life.
(Chuckles)
Nick: I hear it happens.
Victoria: Yeah, just not to our parents... or to us, for that matter.
Victor: Ashley?
Ashley: What do you mean when you tell me you love me? Am I supposed to believe what you say or the things that you do? I don't know where I stand anymore with you.
Victor: (Sighs) When Sabrina died, I shut myself off from the world. You found me. You brought me back. You and the baby mean everything to me.
Ashley: But you say that to me, and then you do whatever you can in your power to hurt me and my family. What you did to Colleen was so cruel.
Victor: This was business.
Ashley: It was-- it's not business. It was personal! How can you tell me you love me, and in the next breath, you betray me? You manipulate and you humiliate me. You play games with my life, Victor, with my career and my reputation. You don't do that to people you love!
Victor: It was business, okay?
Ashley: Oh, please.
Victor: What can I do to reassure you?
Ashley: Oh, I don't know if there's anything you can do.
Victor: There must be something.
Ashley: Now that's your problem. That right there is your problem, because you do these things, and you don't think about the consequences. You just figure if there's a mess, you'll just have somebody clean it up, and if somebody gets hurt along the way-- "Oh, well. They'll get over it."
Victor: I didn't mean to hurt you.
Ashley: Yeah, 'cause it was business.
Victor: Yes, because it was business.
Ashley: Right.
Victor: And it had more to do with my vendetta against your brother Jack than anything else.
Ashley: (Scoffs)
Victor: But there must be something we can do to fix this, all right? I won't give up on you.
Paul: I don't understand. What, is this a joke or...
Nikki: The closer we get to the ceremony, the more I realize that I-- I just can't go through with it, Paul. It wouldn't be fair.
Paul: Why?
Nikki: You have, uh, you have been my dearest friend for 30 years, and I love you so much for that. You've always been there. When I needed help, I knew I could depend on you. When I needed a shoulder to cry on, I knew you would be there, and you just never abandon me. You love me unconditionally.
Paul: Okay, and so because of all that, y-you don't want to marry me?
Nikki: Those are wonderful reasons to marry somebody, but, Paul, it's not enough. You need to marry somebody who will love you with their heart and soul, and... (Cries) I just can't do that.
Paul: Wow. I don't know what to say.
Nikki: I won't let you settle, Paul, and that's what you would be doing if we got married.
Paul: (Sniffles) (Sighs) You know something, Nikk? (Sniffles) Being your husband would not be settling. It would be an honor. In fact, it--it's--it's-- it's what I want more than anything. But that's only if you want it, too. (Sniffles) And you're right, if you've got doubts, if--if you have any concern at all, we should postpone the wedding. It's not right. I-I-I agree, but I think we should sit down and we should talk about it honestly, you know, heart-to-heart. I think we can erase those doubts.
Nikki: I just-- I just can't do this. It wouldn't be fair, Paul. I'm sorry.
Paul: Oh, no, please.
Nikki: No, when-- when you gave me this ring... (Sniffles) That was a promise that I would marry you, and I'm breaking that promise.
Paul: No, I want you to have it. It's yours.
(Sniffles)
Nikki: I'm just gonna tell you the whole thing. I'm--I'm gonna be leaving town.
(Sniffles)
Paul: Where are you going?
Nikki: (Scoffs) I don't know. Does it really matter?
Paul: No, I guess not.
Nikki: Well, I might be gone a while.
Paul: How long is "A while"?
Nikki: I just need to have some time to think about what I want and my life and who the hell I am. I should have done this a long time ago. (Sniffles) Um...
Paul: (Sighs)
Nikki: Could you, um...
Paul: (Scoffs)
Nikki: Can you just--just-- just read this later, okay?
Paul: What is it?
Nikki: (Sighs) I-I hate to do it this way, but I-I-I don't want to leave with this undone. Can you-- can you tell everybody about tomorrow?
Paul: Yeah, I'll take care of it. Listen, if you need anything, I, um, I want you to call me, okay? (Sniffles) I still love you, okay? I think somewhere in there, you still love me.
Nikki: (Sniffles)
Paul: So who knows? Maybe some time away, you'll--you'll come back and, uh... (Sighs) It's not gonna happen, is it? Not as long as there is someone looming over us.
Nikki: I have to deal with him, too.
Paul: (Sighs)
(Sighs)
Nikki: I'm so sorry. Paul. You take care.
Paul: (Crying)
Paul: (Sighs)
Paul: (Sighs)
Victor: Ashley, we must not allow this to drive a wedge between us. You're very fragile right now. You've been upset all the time lately.
Ashley: You don't think I have a good reason for that?
Victor: Well, Darling, whatever the reason is, let's discuss it, but not now, all right? Let's wait till things calm down. I don't want to add to-- to your distress.
Ashley: You're right a-again. I can't handle anything else tonight.
Victor: So why don't you go upstairs and get some rest now, okay?
Ashley: Dr. Taylor gave me some sedatives that won't hurt the baby. I'm gonna take one. I'm gonna go to bed, and I'm gonna forget about this horrible day. (Sniffles)
Victor: I'll be up shortly.
Ashley: No.
Victor: All right, then I'll be in the guest room. Get a good night's sleep, okay? Good night.
Victor: (Sighs heavily)
(Door closes)
Victor: What the hell are you doing here?
Man: Thank you.
Steve: Caught her in the parking lot.
Sharon: Would you let go of me? You're hurting my arm. (Sighs) I was just going to my car. What is your problem?
Man: You ran out of here wearing the ring you were trying on.
Sharon: I certainly did not.
Man: It's on your hand. Look.
Sharon: (Gasps) Oh, my gosh. This-- I-I-I did not mean to... th-this was an accident. (Sighs) Look, um, the father of my baby was going to marry me, and--only now he's not, because things didn't work out, and when I tried on your ring and--and you mentioned a man giving it to his wife, I just-- I-I had a-a panic attack, and I-I just-- I felt like I couldn't breathe, so I left the store, and that's all I was thinking. The minute that I realized I had it on my hand, I would have brought it back to you, I swear. I-I'm not a thief.
Man: Well, you'll have to explain all that to the police. I've just called them. They're on their way.
Sharon: (Sighs)
Victoria: You know, sometimes I feel like... (Sighs) I'm following in Mom's footsteps, not necessarily in a good way. (Sighs) Ryan, Cole, Brad...
Nick: Mm.
Victoria: J.T.
Nick: Okay, that's enough. I'm cutting you off.
Victoria: Sorry. I don't mean to be so maudlin.
Nick: (Sighs) That's all right. A night like this kind of gets you thinking, you know, Mom's getting married again...
Victoria: Yeah. (Sighs) Especially when...
Nick: What?
Victoria: I don't know. I just can't help wondering if maybe Mom and Dad, you know, maybe, uh, they'll never really be over each other.
Nick: Well, I know I told you it'd take something very strong to get Mom away from Dad's pull. I think she has a shot at that with Paul.
Victoria: Do you? Really?
Nick: Yeah, they got a great friendship. It's a good foundation to build from. You know, Dad and Ashley-- they seem solid. I mean, there's been something going on between those two for as long as I can remember.
Victoria: "The wicked witch." I was calling her that before you were born. (Chuckles)
Nick: Think about how many times Mom and Dad have tried to make it work, and they just haven't been able to do it. (Sighs) Maybe they're both at a place in their lives when peace and harmony really matter. I would like to believe they are with people now that they belong with.
(Door opens)
Ashley: (Gasps)
Victor: What are you doing? How can you walk into the house like this?
Nikki: I suppose because somewhere in my heart, I still feel like this is my house and that, somehow, you are still my husband.
Victor: Have you been drinking, or what?
Nikki: No. I am stone-cold sober, and I'm thinking more clearly than I have in years. I'm just telling you the truth, Victor, my truth.
Victor: And what is that?
Nikki: (Sighs) I know I don't live here anymore. I know that you and I are no longer married, but deep down in my heart, I still feel like those things are true, and I just wanted to come to you and tell you your three favorite words... (Sighs) Words that I have been fighting a lifetime to avoid saying. You were right.
Victor: I was right about what?
Nikki: I called off the wedding. I'm not gonna marry Paul. It wouldn't be fair to him when I still love someone else. It's as simple as that.
Victor: Are you saying what I think you're saying?
Nikki: I'm saying only this-- I have only loved one man with my entire soul, and that man is you. And it doesn't matter how many other women you may marry or how many children you might bring into this world. I believe that deep down, you know in your heart that you'll never, ever love another woman like me.
Paul: Hey, thanks for coming.
Heather: Yeah, you didn't sound so hot on the phone. Are you okay?
Paul: Uh, not really. The wedding's off.
Heather: (Gasps)
Paul: Nikki's gone.
Heather: Oh, my God. I'm so sorry.
Paul: Hey, uh, listen, that's not why I called you over here. We need to talk. It's about Adam.
Nikki: I know you don't want to hear these things. I can see that in your face. (Scoffs) Don't worry, I'm not here to beg you to take me back. That's not what this is about. In fact, I have a taxi outside waiting for me.
Victor: Okay. Um, I guess that's, you know, it's for the best.
Nikki: Yeah. Yeah. Well, at least you don't hate me, I don't think. You don't wish me dead, lying on a slab in the morgue. That I'll-- I will take comfort in that, just as I will take comfort in all of the incredible moments that we have shared. I haven't forgotten them.
Victor: (Sighs) I haven't forgotten them, either, nor will I ever, but you know I have moved on. I'm married to Ashley now. She's expecting my baby.
Nikki: Victor, I know that. Intellectually, I know all of that. Tonight, for me, is about feelings, and I just have to tell you, how hard it is to hear it or say it or how wrong or inconvenient it is.
Victor: Why did you do all the things that you did...
Nikki: Victor...
Victor: To destroy our marriage? Why?
Nikki: Please, let me say this. When I thought you were dead last summer...
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Nikki: I didn't want to go on living, and then when I heard that you were alive, but you might never come back, I sent my worst enemy to find you, because I knew that she was the only person on the face of this earth that could get through to you, and I was right, and she has you now. I knew that that was a risk, but I took it, because I had to do whatever had to be done to bring you home. Victor, no one, no one loves you, could ever love you, the way I have.
Victor: (Sighs)
Nikki: And that is all that I have come here to say tonight, that and to say good-bye.
Victor: What do you mean, "Good-bye"?
Nikki: I'm leaving Genoa City. I-I-I don't know for how long, uh, maybe a week or a month. I-I-it could be forever. I don't know.
Victor: Where are you going?
Nikki: Could you, um, please tell the kids for me? I don't think I can bear any more good-byes right now. I just need a little time, and, uh, and--and I'll call--I'll call them.
Victor: Come here for a minute. Come here. My life right now... (Sighs) Is very difficult, okay?
Nikki: Victor, this is for the best. Don't worry about me, okay? I am prepared to live the rest of my life without you. I'm just not gonna lie anymore and pretend that we don't love each other. That's it.
(Door opens)
(Door closes)
Nikki: Where's my taxi?
(Sighs)
(Sighs)
Nikki: Hi, um, somebody just brought me out to the Newman ranch, and they were supposed to wait for me, but they didn’t. So, um, how soon can you send somebody out to get me? Right. Yes, Larkspur Trail, right off of Highway B. Okay, um, I'm gonna walk out to-- to the main road, and I will meet him outside the security gate. Okay, thank you.
Ashley: Sabrina? Sabrina, where did you go?
Ashley: Is that my baby?
Sabrina: No. This is my baby. Your baby's gone.
Ashley: Don't say that to me.
Sabrina: My baby's beautiful. My baby's so very beautiful.
Ashley: I want you to leave, Sabrina. I want you to get out of my home.
Sabrina: This will never be your home. I'm the woman he loves.
Ashley: (Voice breaks) Why are you doing this to me?
Sabrina: Victor's mine, Ashley, forever. He's coming back to me. He's on his way to me now.
Ashley: (Gasps) You can't have him.
(Breathing heavily)
Ashley: (Breathing heavily)
[Ashley remembering]
Nikki: In my heart, this is still my house, and somehow, you are still my husband.
Ashley: Adam, where's Victor? Where is he? Is he in his study?
Adam: Uh, he--he's--he's gone.
Ashley: What--where is he?
Adam: Uh, I don't know. He didn't say anything to me. I just heard him leave.
Ashley: I have to find him. I have to get him. I have to find him, before he goes back to Sabrina.
Adam: Sabrina? Ashley, do you realize what you're--
Ashley: Oh, my God. I have to find him, Adam, before it's too late.
Adam: Wait, wait, you shouldn't be driving in this--the--the weath-- the storm is coming.
Ashley: (Grunts)
(Door closes)
Adam: Right over the edge.
(Chuckles)
Paul: (Sniffles)
Paul: (Sighs)
[Victor remembering]
Nikki: (Gasps)
Nikki: Wait a minute, you're Mr. Victor the decorator.
Victor: Well, while I'm working for the colonel, uh, Victor's sufficient, Miss Reed. Well, you wanted to meet Victor Newman. He’s... (Chuckles) He's right here in this room now.
Nikki: Where?
Victor: I am Victor Newman.
Nikki: (Sighs)
Nick: (Sighs)
Victoria: (Sighs)
Nick: So you and J.T...
Victoria: (Scoffs) Next topic, please.
Nick: Okay.
Victoria: We don't seem to agree on anything. (Sighs) And everything that he does just seems to annoy me, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual.
Nick: Want to know what the trick is?
Victoria: Yes, little brother, please. Please tell me what the trick is.
Nick: Choose to be happy. Just decide to be grateful for what you have, because you never know when someone's gonna call you and tell you that-- that your kid's in a coma. I hate what happened to Summer, but, Vick, it was a big-time wake-up call for me. I mean, marriages are tough. You gotta constantly work at 'em. You can't take 'em for granted. I was ready to throw it all away.
Victoria: For a woman you've loved forever, for a woman you still love.
Nick: (Sighs) I love Phyllis, too. Phyllis and Summer are who I belong with. It couldn't have been made any more clear to me. Do me a favor, all right? Next time I forget, can you just hit me right in my face?
Victoria: You got it.
Sharon: Thank you. Thank you. You've both been so kind.
Man: Hello, Officer. Thanks for responding so quickly. As it turns out, there may have been a misunderstanding.
Woman: Oh, you're at it again, huh?
Man: What do you mean?
Woman: I've arrested this woman before. She had a hotel room full of stolen merchandise.
Man: (Scoffs) And to think I almost fell for your sad story.
Sharon: N-no. No, I-I was not trying to con you. I-I told you the truth. I-I'm not a thief. Those--those charges-- they--they were dropped.
Man: So you had a good lawyer-- doesn't mean you're innocent.
Sharon: Please, please, I'm--I'm begging you. This ring-- if anybody found out-- if my son found out and he told his father, I-I...
Man: It's a valuable piece. I want her arrested.
Adam: (Whistling)
Heather: You're gay? What the hell, Adam?
Adam: Wha--wait, what are you talking about?
Heather: Don't give me that. Don't you dare lie to me! I want the truth. Are you gay?
Adam: Wait, where is this coming from? How could you ask me a question like that after all the times we've been together?
Heather: Okay. Okay, great, so you swing both ways. That is not exactly reassuring. That just tells me that you could cheat on me with anything that moves!
Adam: Heather, where the hell is this coming from?
Heather: Huh, Nikki broke up with my dad tonight.
Adam: What?
Heather: The wedding's off. She's leaving town.
Adam: Why?
Heather: She wrote him a note, and he read it, and he gave it to me.
Adam: So what does it say?
Heather: It says, "Adam is gay."
Adam: (Scoffs)
Heather: "I saw him with Rafe, and Heather needs to know." So short, sweet, to the point.
Adam: Maybe Nikki misread something that she saw.
Heather: "Misread"? How could she possibly have misread something to think that you're gay?
Adam: Heather, let us not forget that Nikki hates me.
Heather: Nikki is hardly my favorite person, but I doubt that the woman is that malicious that she-- she would tell this to my father so that we split up. Oh, my God. Nikki tried to warn me.
Adam: Warn you-- warn you, uh...
Heather: I saw her in the coffeehouse the other day, and she tried to tell me that you weren't who I thought you were.
Adam: Okay, so you're telling me that you're gonna believe Nikki's word over mine? For crying out loud, I should know if I'm gay or not, Heather.
Heather: No, Rafe was there, too, and I thought that-- I thought that he would tell her how off-base she was, but you know what? He didn't, because he said that-- that she was right and that I shouldn't trust you.
Adam: No, no.
Heather: Oh, my God.
Adam: You should trust me. Listen to me.
Heather: This is true.
Adam: Heather, it is not true. You have to believe what I'm telling you.
Heather: No, Rafe is one of the most honest people I know, so why don't I call him and see what he has to say, okay? 'Cause maybe then, he can clear up this little mystery for us.
Heather: Rafe Torres, please.
Adam: Stop it. I can explain this.
Heather: So then Nikki did see you with Rafe.
Adam: (Sighs) Yes.
Heather: Oh, my God.
Adam: Something did happen, but I said it was a mistake.
Heather: (Groans)
Adam: I told him that.
Heather: "A mistake"? Having sex with a man is a mistake?
Adam: No, hey, wait, I did not have sex with hi-- I don't know what Nikki saw, okay? But--but I know what I told Rafe, all right? I told him that this thing was a onetime deal. It could never, ever happen again. I also told him that I love you and I want to be with you. I am not-- Heather, listen to me-- not homosexual or bi. This experiment thing-- that--it was a first and a last for me.
Heather: I don't believe you. I don't believe you. I don't believe a word that you say!
Adam: Well, then believe this-- I love you. I want to marry you. Whatever happened between Rafe and I meant nothing, less than nothing.
Heather: You cheated on me... with a man! I mean, what am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to just-- just--just turn my head away and pretend that's not the biggest red flag imaginable? I mean, what if we did get married, and then you realized it after that? I thank God I found out now, not that you're just on the down-low, but that y-you're incapable of being faithful, and it's just another lie on top of all the other lies. All these lies!
Adam: Heather, just--
Heather: Don't touch me! I never want to see your face again.
(Door slams)
Adam: Damn you, Nikki.
Sharon: I'll buy the ring. I'll--I'll pay double the price. Name your price.
Man: It doesn't work that way.
Woman: You have the right to remain silent. If you choose to give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Paul: I have no idea where Nikki is. I don't know where she's going. The only thing I do know is she left town because she can't get over you, but that doesn't come as a big surprise to you, does it? Nikki knows it's hopeless, but she just can't move on. Why don't you let her go, Victor?
Victor: I have let her go.
Paul: You know what? Whatever. You--you-- you two have this pull. You can't get each other out of your systems. I mean, never mind that you've spent the last 25 years trying to make it work, and you can’t. You both keep coming back for more.
Victor: She came to my ranch, all right? She talked to me. Now she's gone. Do you have any idea where she might be?
Paul: (Sniffs) (scoffs) I don't have a clue. I told you that. The only thing I do know is that she's going to be gone for a very long time, so she left us both, and it's very possible we may never see her again. It might be better off that way.
Victor: I don't think you mean that, Paul.
Paul: You know, it's been a very long night for me. I'm kind of wrung out.
Victor: I understand.
Paul: And I just lost the woman I truly love.
Victor: I understand. Mm-hmm.
Paul: So if you want to go track her down, be my guest.
Victor: (Sighs) (Sighs) Lord, if you're listening... I know you know the truth... that deep in my heart, I still love Nikki. I wish I didn't, but I do. I just do.
[Ashley sees a woman in the middle of the road and hits her]
Ashley: Sabrina. (Screams)
(Car screeching)
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Mac: You are putting everyone in an impossible situation by not telling Chloe about us.
Billy: Just more time, okay?
Sharon: I'm not in denial over here.
Jack: You need help.
