Amber: Um, I'll-- I'll be right back, okay, Babe?
Daniel: Okay.
Amber: Is Kevin here?
Jana: No, he's, um--
Amber: Okay, good. We need to talk.
Jana: Why? What's going on?
Amber: Okay, you know the address Kevin got from the dead guy's cell phone?
Jana: (Gasps) Oh, my God, don't tell me Daniel went there and got caught snooping.
Amber: No, no. I mean, yes, he did go there, but, no, he didn't get caught, and neither did I.
Jana: You went with him?
Amber: Well, I had to follow him.
Jana: Oh, my God, Amber.
Amber: I couldn't let him go there by himself. Anyway, it turned out to be an office.
Jana: Did you guys find anything?
Amber: Well, whoever was there left in a rush, and they left some stuff behind.
Jana: What kind of stuff?
Amber: A photo of the Terroni painting.
Jana: (Gasps) The real one?
Amber: I can't tell. And they also left a book of matches behind and a flash drive with some photos on it.
Jana: Well, wha--wha-- photos of what?
Amber: I don't know. They're encrypted. Daniel's on the patio right now trying to open them up.
Jana: So that's why you're so upset?
Amber: They could be photos of me.
Jana: I-I don't understand.
Amber: There are things about my past that Daniel cannot find out about.
Jana: So how does this tie in with the whole flash drive?
Amber: Okay, that book of matches that I found, they were from a club in L.A. owned by a guy I used to know. Look. I shoved this in my pocket before Daniel could see it. What if this guy is behind the whole Terroni mess?
Jana: Well, why would this guy be involved in a forgery scheme?
Amber: My guess-- to bring Daniel down.
Jana: For what purpose?
Amber: So he could have me. When I first met him, he was totally obsessed with me. He tried every trick in the book to try to win me over, and it never worked. I love just being a mom.
[Amber remembering]
Deacon: Well, sure you do for now but, I mean, is that all there is? You went right from being a little girl to being a mother. And you never had the chance to experience what being a woman's like. I mean, you can't keep ignoring your wild side, Amber. You gotta feed it, otherwise it dies. It withers away. Come on. Let the bad girl out. Come on, baby. Let her out.
Amber: I thought Deacon Sharpe was out of my life forever.
Victoria: Deacon. That's-- that's a very interesting name.
Deacon: Well, you can blame my mom for that. She picked it.
Victoria: Well, I like it.
Deacon: Really? Well, praise from Victoria Newman. I gotta tell you, I'm flattered.
Victoria: You sound as if you know me.
Deacon: Yeah, by reputation. I've seen your picture in a couple of art publications. And if you don't mind my saying so, they don't do you justice.
Victoria: Well, I appreciate your coming to Genoa City.
Deacon: It's no problem. I had some other business here, some things that I've wanted to take care of for quite some time now.
Victoria: Given your access to this, uh, Koons painting, you know, I'm surprised I haven't heard of you.
Deacon: Well, I'm relatively new to the art world, a bit of a neophyte compared to you. I, uh, have a small private collection. I dabble in art dealing from time to time.
Victoria: How are you connected with Koons?
Deacon: Ahh, this particular piece belongs to a friend of mine who wanted to sell it discreetly and, um, I offered to help him. I gotta tell you, I'm glad I did.
Victoria: Why is that?
Deacon: Because you and I have something in common.
Victoria: Really?
Deacon: The forged Terroni.
Nick: Well, I'm glad to hear Katherine’s doing better. We could all use some good news around here.
Nikki: (Sighs) It's just been one shock after another lately.
Phyllis: Uh, hey, guys. Okay, here is the doll that-- that Summer wanted before she got sick. I promised her I'd get it for her. Can you just give it to her?
Nikki: Oh, yeah. Sure. Sure.
Phyllis: Good. Okay.
Nick: How are you doing? You hanging in there?
Phyllis: Yeah. I'm hanging in there. I'm sort of a mess. I'm try to be strong. My stomach's in knots. My chest hurts. But otherwise I'm fine, right?
Nick: Yeah, this is killing me, too. My little girl's lying in some hospital bed fighting for her life.
Phyllis: Yeah, I know. All on a baseless accusation.
Paul: I know. I know how you feel. We are all trying to clear this up as soon as possible.
Nikki: Between Paul and me and Victor, there is always somebody by her side telling her that her mom and dad love her.
Victor: You know, it's very warm outside, so you hurry up and get well, because then you and Mommy can come up to the swimming pool and then we'll make your favorite barbecue, spare rib barbecue. Do you know that your daddy took a photo once of you and I at a barbecue, and you had barbecue sauce all over your face? You did. Let me see. Let me show you. Well, I don't have my wallet here, do I? Maybe I left it in the car. I want you to get well soon, all right? You keep on fighting. You're a Newman. You're my granddaughter. You're strong. You never give up.
Adam: I didn't expect you here today.
Heather: Well, I had to take a break to come see my favorite guy, which, by the way, you're looking very, very pale. Maybe you should go for a swim, get some sun.
Adam: Well, with big brother wrapped around my ankle? Why don't you go?
Heather: I didn't bring my suit.
Adam: All the better.
Heather: And chance Victor coming home and finding me naked? Oh, wait. Been there, done that. Not again, thanks.
Adam: He's not gonna be home for hours.
Heather: Uh-huh. Sorry, Hon, I don't have much time.
(Cell phone rings)
Heather: Are you gonna get that?
Adam: Uh, I doubt it's anyone important.
Heather: (Sighs) Rafe Torres?
Adam: Ignore it.
Heather: Well, I-I didn't think that he was representing you anymore.
Adam: He isn’t. He's, uh, we're just-- oh, we're friends. Listen for--for-- forget about Rafe. Um, let's get back to the subject at hand.
Heather: Which was?
Adam: You without a swimsuit.
Heather: Mm. That subject
Nick: Dad says there's no change.
Phyllis: (Sighs) I can't stand this. Listen, don't get me wrong. I really appreciate that you and Victor have stepped up. I really appreciate that. But I should be at the bedside with my daughter instead of getting updates from her grandfather on the phone.
Nikki: I agree. We're-- we're just trying to make the best of a bad situation.
Phyllis: A bad situation? It's a nightmare. I should change places with her. I should change places with my daughter. I would--I would gladly die for her if it would make her well.
Nikki: We know that, Phyllis.
Paul: Phyllis, you're an amazing mother.
Phyllis: Then why does somebody think I would hurt my daughter?
Nikki: Listen, none of your friends or family believe that for a second.
Phyllis: An anonymous person lied through their teeth, I don't know who, and Heather took my daughter away.
Nick: Who would do this? It's not like you have a ton of enemies.
Nikki: If anything, all of your friends have banded together to show their support. Jack and Mary Jane, Michael. They've all been at the hospital practically every day.
Paul: You know, it's awfully devoted of Mary Jane, don't you think? I mean, considering the length of time that you've known her.
Nick: I did find it a little odd. I mean, she was practically sitting vigil with us right after Summer got sick.
Phyllis: Well, she's an intense person. I mean, she does things 110%.
Paul: Oh, yeah, I know. Tell me about it.
Nick: What do you mean?
Nikki: Paul's had a little trouble with Mary Jane.
Paul: (Chuckles) She accused me of stalking her.
Phyllis: What?
Paul: She had a restraining order filed against me. I gotta tell you, there's a-a Jekyll-and-Hyde thing about this woman.
Nikki: And really, what does anybody know about the woman?
Phyllis: I think it's time we find out.
Victor: What are you talking about? I can't believe that you didn't get her on that plane. She should be in Rio by now for heaven's sake. That woman is a loose cannon. You got it? She needs to be found and contained. You find her. No excuses. Well, she didn't just fall off the face of the earth.
Mary Jane: (Breathing heavily)
Heather: Okay, okay, okay. We can’t. We can’t. We can’t.
(Sighs)
Adam: We have the whole house to ourselves.
Heather: Yeah, I know. I know. It's not-- it's not that I don't want to. It's just that I have to be in court.
Adam: Well, you've already got me going.
Heather: It'll be worth the wait. I promise. Bye.
Mary Jane: Aah!
(Grunts)
Adam: (Grunts)
Daniel: Ahh, finally. Okay, let's see what we've got.
Jana: Okay, Amber. You've got to tell me the rest of this.
Amber: Deacon and I fought over custody of the baby.
Jana: You had a child with this man?
Amber: No, no, no, no, no. Um, I-it was a baby that I raised from the time he was born, and it's a long story.
Jana: But--but whose baby was it?
Amber: Well, for a while, I lied and said it was mine.
Jana: But who--
Amber: But it was my cousin’s.
Jana: But who-- who is Deacon to this kid?
Amber: His biological father.
Jana: Was he a bad guy?
Amber: He could be a real creep if he wanted to be.
Jana: In what way?
Amber: (Sighs) I-I can't--I can't talk about this right now.
Jana: Oh, come on. You can't leave me hanging.
Amber: Okay, Deacon used little Eric to try to get money and to get to me.
Jana: Did it work?
Amber: No, but it... (Sighs)
Jana: But? But what? Tell me! Tell me.
Amber: He's not an easy guy to resist.
Jana: (Sighs) So what happened to little Eric?
Amber: Well, after he-- he was taken away from me, I was totally devastated.
Jana: Amber, does Daniel know any of this?
Amber: No. No, and he cannot find out.
Jana: Why not?
Amber: Because I'm not totally blameless. I mean, I did some things that... (Sighs) Really, really, um, you know-- I mean the weird thing is I haven't heard or thought about Deacon Sharpe in years. And I just assumed he totally forgot about me until this.
Jana: Well, maybe it's just a really weird coincidence.
Amber: Yeah, that's possible.
Jana: But you don't think so.
Amber: To tell the truth, I'm not really sure what to think.
Deacon: I heard about your attempt to buy the forged Terroni for the Newman foundation.
Victoria: Yes, well, I was working with authorities to help unearth the real stolen painting, and I would appreciate it if you don't go spreading that around when you don't know the whole story.
Deacon: I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to put you on the defensive.
Victoria: No, it's not that. It's just that I don't want this charity's name associated in any scandal. I'm really trying to rebuild the contemporary art collection in memory of my dear friend.
Deacon: Sabrina Costelana.
Victoria: You knew her?
Deacon: I-I met her once at the Pompidou, but she was not the kind of woman that you easily forget.
Victoria: No, she was-- she was very special.
Deacon: I think I read almost every article ever written about her. She was married to your father, right?
Victoria: Yes.
Deacon: Fortunately, we're not talking about you, 'cause I heard that things went pretty badly in that alley.
Victoria: Well... (Chuckles) The art thief ended up dead, and I ended up in the hospital with a head injury. I'm actually trying to forget that that ever happened.
Deacon: Well, I gotta tell ya, if you ask me, you were pretty brave to put yourself in harm's way like that.
Victoria: Some would argue incredibly stupid, I think. (Chuckles)
Deacon: Come on. Listen, I didn't mean any disrespect, really. Um, I just, uh, I want you to know that I'm very discreet, as I hope you will be when I share something with you.
Victoria: What is it?
Deacon: Um, I got burned, too.
Victoria: How do you mean?
Deacon: I paid $250,000 for the forged Terroni.
Victoria: (Sighs)
Adam: Where did she go?
Mary Jane: (Sobs quietly)
Adam: Who's there?
Adam: Are you okay?
Mary Jane: I think so.
Adam: Who are you?
Mary Jane: Who are you?
Adam: I'm Adam Wilson. I, uh, if I run into a tree, it's just--it's I-I can't see very well.
Mary Jane: I'm, um, I'm here to talk to Victor Newman.
Adam: Uh, my--my-- my father's not here right now.
Mary Jane: Your father?
Adam: Well, much to his disappointment, yes.
Mary Jane: Why would you say that?
Adam: Well, uh, we don't exactly see eye-to-eye. No pun intended. Um, the man can be quite a bully.
Mary Jane: Yeah, believe me, I know. And he makes promises he can't keep.
Adam: All the time.
Mary Jane: Well, now-- now, um, now he's just trying to get rid of me when he swore that he-- he would help me win Jack's heart.
Adam: Jack Abbott?
Mary Jane: (Sobs) Yeah. Jack loves me. I know he does.
Adam: Listen, I'm sorry about how my father has treated you so badly. Um...
Mary Jane: Uh, oh. Mary Jane.
Adam: Mary Jane. Um, listen, if it makes you feel any better, he, um, he's not very nice to me either. We should-- we should help each other.
Victor: No, I already checked. It's neither in the car nor at home. Kindly call the credit card companies and cancel them all and have them issue new ones, all right? Yeah. I appreciate it. Thank you, Connie.
Paul: Hey.
Victor: Hey, Paul.
Paul: How's Summer doing?
Victor: (Sighs heavily) The same. They're in there right now, the nurses, and they're changing the bed sheets and bathing her and...
Paul: Um, you know, I'll tell you what. When they finish, why don't, uh, why don't you take a break, and I'll sit with her for a while?
Victor: That would be very nice of you, because I've been meaning to visit Katherine in the hospital as well.
Paul: And who knows? We might be able to get, uh, Phyllis and Nick back here soon.
Victor: Any new developments?
Paul: Well, we, uh, we might have a lead as to who accused Phyllis.
Victor: And who would that be?
Paul: Mary Jane Benson.
Victor: Huh. I'll be damned. That's the woman that J.T. found prowling around the ranch.
Paul: Right.
Victor: Huh.
Paul: Nikki, Nicholas and Phyllis are trying to, uh, track her down now.
Victor: Why do you suspect her?
Paul: Among other things, I don't trust her.
Victor: Mm-hmm. She accused you of stalking her, right?
Paul: Yeah, but even before then, there's something about her that seems off. She has these incredible mood swings. She goes from hot to cold in two seconds flat. I just need to do some more digging.
Victor: Hmm. If you don't mind, uh, let me handle her.
Paul: Okay, uh, do you mind, um, me asking why?
Victor: Well, uh, Summer being in the hospital now, Nikki's very worried about her, and I think she could, um, need--need your support.
Paul: I know, but this is what I do for a living.
Victor: I understand. I understand. But listen, Nikki really needs your support right now. This is about her granddaughter, and, uh, it's putting Nikki under a lot of stress. If that Benson woman is the one who said those things about Phyllis, then I'll find out.
Nick: Excuse me. Hi. We were, uh, looking for the woman who was staying in this room.
Phyllis: Mary Jane Benson.
Woman: She checked out earlier today. Seemed in a hurry.
Nick: This is gonna seem like kind of a weird question, but did you ever notice anything strange about her?
Woman: She was very secretive. I had orders not to open drawers or closets.
Phyllis: Anything else?
Woman: Cleaned this room a hundred times and no tip.
Nick: Oh, that's not right. There you go.
Woman: (Chuckles)
Nikki: You mind if we look around?
Woman: No, be my guest.
Nick: Thank you.
Nick: Nothing in the closets. Mom?
Nikki: No, there's nothing here.
Phyllis: All right, um, I'm gonna check under the sofa I guess.
Phyllis: Oh, my God.
Nick: What is it?
Nikki: (Gasps) My God. A photo of Summer.
Nick: Where would she get that?
Phyllis: Uh, I don't know. Why does she have a picture of our baby? I don't understand this. What kind of freak is she?
Nick: Take it easy.
Phyllis: No. Why Summer? Why our daughter?
Nick: I don't know, but let's get this to Heather Stevens, all right? Whatever Mary Jane is up to, we know it's no good. Come on.
Phyllis: Okay.
Mary Jane: And - if Victor finds me here, he is gonna have me on a plane so fast that--
Adam: He's, uh, he's at the hospital right now sitting vigil for his sick granddaughter. He--he won't be home for hours.
Mary Jane: Yeah. It's sad when a child is ill.
Adam: His girlfriend is, uh, not expected back until the evening.
Mary Jane: (Sighs) And, uh, servants and gardeners?
Adam: Oh, they're all-- they're all gone.
Mary Jane: Okay, still, this isn't a good idea. It--
Adam: Well, listen, I'm not gonna let you out of here while you're so upset, so you should just let me help you.
Mary Jane: That's exactly what Victor said. There I was, minding my own business, and he swoops in, claiming he can make Jack love me. And then he tosses me away like an old shoe when he doesn't need me anymore.
Adam: (Sighs) Well, why don't you, uh, why don't you sit down? I'll sit with you, and you can tell me all about it.
Nikki: Hey.
Victor: Hi.
Nikki: Hey, Sweetie pie. Your mommy bought you a present. Look. It's that doll that you've been wanting. Isn't she pretty? I'm gonna put her right here, and she'll be waiting for you when you open your eyes, okay?
Victor: Paul tells me that you and Phyllis and Nicholas were trying to track down Mary Jane Benson.
Nikki: We went into her suite at the Athletic Club. It seems she cleared out of there pretty fast.
Victor: Really? Huh.
Nikki: And then I was talking to the doorman about her. He saw her leave. He said she seemed very upset. And we found a photograph of Summer in her room.
Victor: Are you serious?
Nikki: Yes.
Victor: (Sighs)
Paul: Hey.
Heather: Hi.
Paul: Thanks for coming.
Heather: Yeah, um, you said there was a break in the Newman case.
Paul: Yeah, um, psst!
Heather: Okay.
Paul: Listen, uh, what do you know about Mary Jane Benson?
Heather: Why?
Nick: She's the one who accused Phyllis, isn't she?
Heather: Listen, you know-- you know I can't answer.
Phyllis: You just did answer that.
Paul: Heather, you were there when she flipped out on me with this whole restraining order thing. She is not stable.
Heather: I'm sorry, I can't--
Nick: Plus she checked out of the club. Nobody seems to know where she is.
Phyllis: Yeah, and we found this picture of my daughter in her room hidden under the sofa. You still want to rely on her word?
Jana: So this Deacon person, I mean, do you think he'd go so far as... (Whispers) As to kill someone?
Amber: You mean the guy in the alley? You know--
Daniel: I got the flash drive working. Uh, we need to talk.
Amber: What, me?
Daniel: Check this out.
Jana: (Gasps) (Normal voice) Oh.
Amber: Thank God.
Daniel: Thank God what?
Amber: Thank God it's not something way more dangerous on there than the-- the picture that w-we already saw they had.
Daniel: Jana, what do you think? Are we staring at my forgery or at the original Terroni?
Jana: Oh, my God. (Clears throat) Well, um, honestly, I'm afraid I'd have to study it a bit more closely to make that determination. But I mean, it wouldn't hurt to ask Victoria. She might have a sixth sense about it.
Deacon: So the seller showed me this, and I thought it was the real thing.
Victoria: How did you hook up with this person?
Deacon: Guy called me, uh, a little while back out of the blue.
Victoria: Before my run-in with him.
Deacon: Yeah, he, uh, e-mailed me some paintings of what I thought was the genuine Terroni and asked me if I'd be interested in purchasing it.
Victoria: Well, you knew it had been stolen some time ago?
Deacon: Of course.
Victoria: So what happened?
Deacon: Well, uh, I put $250,000 in a briefcase.
Victoria: (Laughs) The price went down.
Deacon: (Laughs)
Victoria: I only had $100,000 in my briefcase.
Deacon: Ah. So I made the exchange, and I not only didn't buy the original, I bought the fake-- I-I don't know. I guess it doesn't matter anymore.
Victoria: What do you mean?
Deacon: Well, when I got there, uh, the thief made off with not only the painting but also the money, leaving me feeling like a complete idiot.
Victoria: If you don't mind my asking, why did you want a stolen painting?
Deacon: I wanted to return it to the museum.
Victoria: Oh. That was my motivation, too.
Deacon: I don't know, it just makes me crazy thinking about that frame hanging there empty. I-I remember when I was a kid the first time I saw the painting at the Sheffer in Pittsburgh, and I think that's the moment that I fell in love with art. You know, all the other kids were out playing softball and chasing girls, and I was hypnotized by art and sculpture and beautiful things.
Victoria: Well, hey, it must have made you really popular with your friends.
Deacon: (Laughs) I don't know. I just--I can't stand the thought of somebody actually slashing that beautiful painting out of the frame. I mean, so many people are gonna be deprived of seeing that awesome masterpiece.
Victoria: I agree.
Deacon: I tell ya, I just wish I would have caught that guy.
Victoria: Well, it doesn't matter now. He's dead.
Deacon: Victoria, for the record, I don't deal in forgeries. The Koons is authentic.
Victoria: Well, I'll want to have it checked out.
Deacon: I'd be disappointed if you didn’t. Listen, I think, uh, you must be a real fan of the artist, huh?
Victoria: Yeah, I've actually coveted this painting for years.
Deacon: Well, then it should make a beautiful addition to your collection.
Victoria: All right, give me a few days, and, um... and then I'll make you an offer.
Paul: Was I right?
Heather: Miss Benson’s cell has been disconnected, and there's been no credit card activity.
Victor: Does that mean you're gonna lift the court order restricting my son and daughter-in-law from seeing their girl?
Heather: I can't confirm the source of the accusation.
Victor: If she was telling the truth, then why the hell would she have skipped town?
Phyllis: Yeah, why lie? Why put the blame on me?
Nick: To cause you pain. To discredit you.
Phyllis: That's right. Or--or maybe--or maybe to throw suspicion off of herself.
Nikki: Are you saying you think--
Phyllis: That Mary Jane gave Summer the cookies. Absolutely. Mary Jane is the reason my daughter's in a coma right now.
Adam: You can tell me anything, you know?
Mary Jane: (Sighs) I have already told you way too much.
Adam: You can trust me.
Mary Jane: That is exactly what Victor said, and then he knifed me in the back.
(Knock on door)
Mary Jane: Oh, God, you said that no one was gonna be here for a few hours.
Adam: And they won't be. If it were Victor or Ashley, they wouldn't have knocked.
Mary Jane: But if anyone sees me, I'm gonna--
Adam: Listen, whoever it is, I will get rid of them, okay?
Mary Jane: Where do I go?
Adam: Go hide.
Adam: Yes?
Man: There's been a possible security breach, Mr. Wilson.
Adam: Um, meaning what? Um, someone snuck onto the property?
Man: We've searched the entire grounds. Haven't found anyone.
Adam: (Sighs) My girlfriend left a little while ago. Could she have, uh, tripped an alarm?
Man: No. Listen, lock your doors just in case, and call if you--
Adam: Yeah, if I-- if I need anything. I got ya. Thanks.
Adam: He's gone.
Adam: I told you you could trust me.
Jana: Amber, you have to tell Daniel the truth.
Amber: I can’t.
Jana: (Sighs) Look, I am living proof that you can have some awful secrets from your past and still be forgiven for them.
Amber: He will never look at me the same way again.
Jana: Oh, come on. He loves you so, so much, and that will never change. Besides, if this guy is the one behind Daniel's problems, and he is dangerous, you've got to warn him right away.
Amber: No. Daniel can never find out about Deacon.
Man: Thank you.
Daniel: Hey, Victoria.
Victoria: Hi, Daniel.
Daniel: Hi, um, sorry to interrupt. Can I, uh, talk to you for a second?
Victoria: Deacon Sharpe, this is Daniel Romalotti.
Deacon: Daniel Romalotti. Nice to meet you.
Daniel: Hi. Likewise.
Victoria: What is this about?
Daniel: The painting.
Victoria: Oh, the Terroni? Uh, it's okay. You can speak in front of Deacon. He actually knows a great deal about the subject.
Deacon: Um, why don't you join us?
Phyllis: Oh, Mary Jane was at "Restless Style" right before Summer went into anaphylactic shock. She saw me take those cookies, and she saw me put them in the trash.
Heather: But wouldn't you have seen it if she gave Summer--
Phyllis: No, no I wouldn't, because Jack came in, and we were--we were talking about Nick and Sharon, and it was a pretty heavy conversation, so I-I-I wasn't paying attention. I wasn't looking behind my back. I did--I didn't think I had reason to. I just didn't know what she was capable of. I... I'm to blame for this. I--how could I trust her? I didn't even know her.
Victor: It's not your fault.
Phyllis: Victor, it's my fault. It is. It's my fault. If my daughter doesn't come through, I'm to blame.
Nick: No, no.
Summer: Mama? Mama?
Paul: Whoa!
Phyllis: Oh, my God! She's awake! Oh, my God, she's awake. Oh, my God, please. Please.
Heather: Yeah, let--let-- let--let--let them in.
Nick: Summer?
Phyllis: Oh, my God.
Nikki: (Sobs)
Phyllis: (Sighs)
Paul: Thank you. I'll get the doctor.
Daniel: Amber? Amber? Hey, you okay?
Amber: Just got a little, um, vertigo, that's all.
Daniel: Hmm, you look as pale as a ghost.
Deacon: Or maybe you just saw one.
Amber: It's nothing.
Deacon: I'm Deacon Sharpe.
Daniel: Deacon, I'm sorry. This is, uh, Amber Moore. Deacon's actually an authority on art. (Chuckles) He's in Genoa City to sell Victoria a painting.
Deacon: Well, I'm-- I'm really not an authority. I'm--I'm more of an enthusiast.
Daniel: Turns out Deacon was scammed by the same guy who's trying to sell the forged Terroni. Small world, huh?
Amber: Very small.
Deacon: Yeah. You know what? Actually, I have an appointment on the other side of town, so I'm gonna have to say good-bye.
Victoria: All right. Well, I'll be in touch.
Deacon: I'll look forward to that.
(Cell phone rings)
Victoria: Oh, excuse me.
Deacon: Okay, sure. Uh, Daniel, it was a pleasure meeting you.
Daniel: Cheers.
Deacon: Amber, it's lovely.
Summer: Mama?
Phyllis: Right here, baby. I'm right here. I'm not going away. You were asleep for a while, but you're a Supergirl. You're a Supergirl.
Victor: So, Doctor, what's the verdict?
Doctor: She'll be disoriented for a little while. That's normal after coming out of a coma.
Nick: She's gonna be okay?
Doctor: I've scheduled some tests to determine if there's been any brain damage.
Victor: All right.
Nikki: But the fact that she's awake is--
Doctor: Is a good sign. I'll be in touch about the tests.
Victor: Thank you very much, doctor.
Nikki: Hi, Darling. Oh, welcome back, Sweetheart. Welcome back.
(Sighs)
Nick: Hey, Sweet pea. Mommy and Daddy are right here. You're in a hospital, but everything's gonna be okay. It's all good.
Paul: Right. Well, thanks for getting back to me. You've been a big help. Okay. Bye-bye.
Nikki: (Sighs) I prayed for a miracle.
Paul: (Chuckles) Looks like you got one. How's she doing?
Nikki: (Sighs) Well, the doctor said they're gonna do some tests, but he seems optimistic.
Paul: Good. Heather took off, and, uh, she sent the cop away.
Nikki: So what does that mean?
Paul: She suspended the investigation. So Phyllis is in the clear.
Nikki: So you really think that Mary Jane intentionally did this?
Paul: Well, after that whole restraining order thing, we know she has a tendency to overreact.
Nikki: Yeah, but what's your gut feeling?
Paul: Well, as far-fetched as it may seem, I mean, my hunch is she is capable of anything.
Nikki: Hmm.
Nick: You guys talking about Mary Jane Benson?
Nikki: Honey, we're just speculating.
Nick: What she did to Phyllis was unconscionable, and if I find out she was responsible for putting Summer in the hospital--
Paul: No, I know. I did some more digging. I made a few phone calls to the companies in Europe that she said she worked for.
Nikki: Mm-hmm.
Paul: I couldn't find a single person who worked with her or even knew her.
Nick: You are kidding.
Nikki: So you're at a dead end.
Paul: Well, not necessarily. What I was thinking, uh, I could go over there and--and check it out. Who knows? I'd like to walk in her supposed footsteps.
Nick: What's stopping you?
Paul: Honestly, your father.
Nikki: (Scoffs)
Paul: He insists on handling this whole Mary Jane thing himself.
Nikki: Well, that doesn't surprise me. He always has to be in control.
Nick: Considering everything he has going on with Ashley and Adam, I--
Paul: Well, um, I could book a flight as soon as possible.
Nikki: Gosh, I-I'd go with you, but I don't want to leave Summer.
Nick: Oh, Mom, there's nothing you can do for her here. You can go. And as far as my father is concerned, what he doesn't know won't hurt him.
Adam: Just relax. I can find you a place to hide right here on the property.
Mary Jane: I don't--I don't-- I don't know if that--
Adam: Look, it's-- it's the old potting shed. Nobody ever goes there. The guards have already searched the grounds, so you'll be safe.
Mary Jane: Are you sure?
Adam: Look, I can bring everything you need, and then we can talk, and-- and you can tell me everything, and--and I can figure out a way to help you.
Mary Jane: Is it that far?
Adam: It's just out the back door. Follow the path along the left. When it dead ends, it's right there. You can't miss it.
Mary Jane: I don't know how to thank you.
Adam: Forget it. It's our little secret.
Mary Jane: Okay.
Adam: You know, I think this may be the start of a beautiful friendship.
Mary Jane: I sure hope so, 'cause I could really use a friend right now. Thank you.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Phillip: I didn't leave because I wanted to leave. I left because I was forced to leave.
Billy: Hey, back up from her. Don't touch--get away!
Ashley: What's happening? Why isn't there anything on there? Is there something wrong with the baby?
