Jill: Yeah, I got Letty to cover for me. I swear, she does a fantastic French tip. No, I-I promise you, I will make up the hours tomorrow. This was a family emergency. It couldn't be helped. Okay. Bye. (Sighs)

Kay: Well, finally. Cane's going to be here for the blood test soon. Where have you been?

Jill: You look really tired.

Kay: Uh, well, I haven't-- haven't been sleeping well. I've been thinking about poor Phillip. Who could have taken the body? I mean, that must be torturing you, also.

Jill: I'll tell you, when they find out who's responsible for it, that's when the torture's gonna begin.

Kay: Jill, I do not want you taking your stress out on Nina.

Jill: (Laughs) Oh, my God. She attacks my family. She makes wild accusations against Cane, my son, but God forbid, I--

Kay: She is searching for answers. Now what if she's right? I mean, what if the child you gave birth to is wandering around out there somewhere?

Cane: (Sighs) (Sighs)

(Cell phone rings)

Cane: Hello? (Sighs) No, no. I haven't heard from him either. Look, I don't know what to tell you, all right? I'm not happy about this either. Um, believe me. Well, look, if Langley calls, could you please ask him to get in touch with me immediately? It's important. It is an emergency. Okay? Thanks.

Lily: Hey, what's wrong?

Cane: Nothing. Nothing's wrong.

Lily: I heard you say there was an emergency.

Cane: Uh, my, uh, my uncle. You know, he can be flakey sometimes. You gotta light a fire under him to get a, you know, return phone call. It's not much.

Lily: Well, why do you want to talk to him?

Cane: His, uh, mortgage lender called, and apparently, there's some problem when he refinanced, and now he's got two loans. He doesn't know, so he stopped making payments on one.

Lily: Oh, my gosh.

Cane: Yeah. Don't worry about it.

Lily: Okay.

Cane: Okay.

(Door closes)

Lily: Outgoing calls... Langley. They're all to Langley.

Jack: Hi. Hey, what's that?

Sharon: I don't know. It was just left out here.

Jack: From the Jabot staff.

Sharon: (Gasps) Oh, gosh, it's your birthday. I completely forgot.

Jack: Hey, hey, hey. Don't worry about that.

Sharon: I feel terrible.

Jack: What, are you kidding me? After the gift you've just given me? It's certainly better than any fruit basket I've ever gotten. Hey, there will be no pressure from me, none. I'm sure your head is spinning.

Sharon: Yeah.

Jack: And I can only imagine what Nick's going through. How did he react to finding out that I'm the baby's father?

Sharon: Um, well, he doesn't know yet. Um, but he--he was at the hospital all night, so--

Jack: The hospital?

Sharon: Um...

Jack: Why?

Sharon: Yeah, Summer-- she--she had an allergic reaction. She's in a coma, Jack. I'm so sorry.

Nikki: Hey.

Paul: Hi.

Nick: (Sighs) Hi.

Phyllis: Wow.

Paul: There we go.

Phyllis: Wow, more flowers.

Paul: Yeah, they were at the nurses' station.

Nikki: Yes, one is from Newman Enterprises, and the other is from Summer's day camp.

Phyllis: Can you get rid of them, please? I don't want any more flowers. It looks like a funeral home. Can you get rid of them, please?

Paul: Oh.

Nick: I'll--I'll--

Phyllis: Just, uh, take 'em away?

Nick: I'll take care of it.

Phyllis: All right. I'm--I'm sorry. Excuse me. I'm sorry.

(Sighs)

(Breathing heavily)

Victor: Want me to get you some coffee? Hmm?

Phyllis: (Sniffles)

Victor: I'm so sorry.

Phyllis: Oh.

Victor: Hmm?

Phyllis: Thank you. I'm fine. I-I don--I don't want to rest. I don't want any coffee. I don't want anything because I'm afraid, you know, if I rest or close my eyes, when I open them, she--

Victor: I understand completely. I really do, okay?

Phyllis: I know you do.

Victor: Okay. If you need anything-- any doctor or any specialist to be flown in, say the word, all right?

Phyllis: I will. Thank you, Victor.

Mary Jane: Phyllis. Uh, I-I just heard. I--

Phyllis: Oh, thank you. I-I-I--thanks for coming down. I really appreciate it.

Mary Jane: Is there anything I can do for you?

Phyllis: Uh, pray.

Mary Jane: Of course. Of course. I'm already doing that. Hello, Victor.

(Cell phone vibrates)

Victor: Excuse me. Hello, Ms. Benson.

Mary Jane: (Sighs)

Phyllis: (Whispering indistinctly)

Mary Jane: How are you holding up?

Phyllis: I'm--I'm fine. I'm fine. I mean, we stayed up all night, practically. I haven't gotten any sleep, but it's good. I'm just kind of working off of fumes. Uh, anyway, it's--it’s...

Nina: Thank you for taking the time.

Neil: Yeah, I've been wanting to talk to you. Katherine's been telling me about what's going on.

Nina: I wonder how much she's told you.

Neil: Your son might have Huntington’s disease?

Nina: Well, I'm still hopeful that he doesn’t.

Neil: Which is why you wanted to test his father’s D.N.A.?

Nina: Yeah. When I opened that casket and there was nothing but sandbags in there, I just--

Neil: Oh, my God.

Nina: (Sighs)

Neil: Wow, your heart must have stopped.

Nina: I almost passed out. Yeah.

Neil: I am so sorry. So, uh, any leads on what happened?

Nina: No, but I have my suspicions. I guess Katherine didn't tell you that part. I think Cane is involved somehow.

Neil: Cane? Cane my son-in-law?

Nina: Yeah, that's why I wanted to talk to you. I'm worried for Lily.

Neil: Wait a minute. Uh, Cane was in Australia when Phillip died. Did he even know then that he was the real Phillip Chancellor?

Nina: (Scoffs) I'm not convinced that he is.

Neil: But they had a D.N.A. test.

Nina: No, they had two D.N.A. tests-- one that confirmed that he was Jill's son and one that didn’t. He's taking another test today, the--the tiebreaker. I just think that Lily needs someone looking after her in case the test results turn out the way I think they will.

Neil: Okay, Nina. Nina, mnh-mnh. You're getting way ahead of yourself here, all right? Cane isn't some kind of con artist, you know? Look at his lifestyle. He earns his own keep. Now I-I know for a fact that he turned down major cash from both Katherine and Jill.

Nina: Yeah, was that before or after I came to town asking a lot of questions?

Neil: All I know is what you're telling me doesn't jive with what I know of Cane, all right? He--he has principles. He lives by them. And on top of all of that, he's married to my daughter.

Nina: For Lily's sake, I hope I'm wrong. But if I'm not, she's gonna need you, Neil.

Jill: What has happened to you, Katherine? You used to be able to see through people like Nina Webster.

Kay: I told you, she is looking for answers.

Jill: She is a scandalmonger. It's what she does for a living, now that she's too old for gold-digging.

Kay: Uh, you're never going to forgive her her mistakes of 20 years ago?

Jill: (Sighs)

Kay: People change, Jill. People change.

Jill: Yeah, not that much.

Kay: Exactly what does that say for you? Are you the same person you were 20 years ago?

Lily: Hello.

Cane: Hey. Hey, Mom. Hey, Grandma.

Jill: Oh, hi.

Lily: Hi.

Jill: Hi, Sweetheart. I am so sorry about this.

Cane: Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. The, uh, what'd the nurse say-- she's not here yet, huh?

Kay: Uh, would, um, anyone care for iced tea?

Lily: Um, actually, I would. Thank you.

Cane: Let me help you.

Kay: All right.

Jill: He's upset, isn't he? He thinks I don't trust him.

Lily: No, no, no, no, no. No. He just--he has other things on his mind right now. Um, has--has Cane talked to you about his uncle Langley?

Jill: No, why?

Lily: Well, um, he disappeared, which I guess is typical, but there's been some sort of financial mix-up, but he said not to worry. But then I saw his phone, and he had, like, 40 calls that he made to his uncle. So obviously, he's worrying. But anyway, that's where his focus is right now, not really on proving that he is who he says he is.

Jill: (Sighs)

Mary Jane: So do you know how it happened?

Phyllis: Yeah, I-I'm assuming the peanut butter cookies-- the ones that were on the desk, remember? I threw them out. She must have gotten into them.

Mary Jane: Oh, God, how awful. I-I-I-I am so sorry.

Phyllis: Thank you. Thank you.

Mary Jane: No, I know.

Michael: Phyllis.

Phyllis: Oh.

Michael: Hey. Ohh!

Phyllis: Hey.

Michael: You okay?

Phyllis: Yeah, I'm doing all right. I'm doing all right.

Michael: Yeah, like hell you are.

Phyllis: Okay, Daniel has a hearing, right? He has a hearing.

Michael: Yeah, I'm gonna head out there in a minute.

Phyllis: Okay.

Michael: So anything new?

Phyllis: No.

Michael: (Sighs) You know what? I'm gonna get Lauren to come sit with you.

Phyllis: No, no, it's okay, because Nick is here, Nikki, Paul. Victor just left. It's fine.

Michael: Mm, that's his family. You need someone.

(Cell phone buttons beeping)

Phyllis: I-I-I'm fine. I'm fine. Nick is taking good care of me. Don't say it. Please don't say it. Don't say it, don't say it.

Michael: I just want you to be careful.

Phyllis: I am being careful. What am I gonna do? He's the father of my child. He's--he's being very sweet, all right? And--and I need him right now.

Michael: For the moment.

Phyllis: Well, the moment is all I can deal with. Please, let's not talk about anything past the moment, because the moment is all I have.

Michael: (Sighs)

Phyllis: Oh, God. Okay. Um... okay, we were holding hands while Summer was sleeping last night, and it was like how we used to when she was a little baby. Just--it felt right. It was like I had my husband back. But--but he's not my husband for long, right? And Summer-- Summer isn't sleeping, and I don't-- what am I gonna do? What am I gonna do if Summer leaves me, too? Michael? Michael, what will I do if she leaves, too? And I'll have nothing. I'll have nothing.

Michael: Come on. Let's go. Come on.

Nick: (Sighs)

Paul: Wh-what is Mary Jane Benson doing here?

Nick: She's friends with Phyllis.

Paul: Yeah, well, I-- I knew they worked together, but I, uh...

Nikki: I'm sure Phyllis has needed someone to talk to.

Nick: You mean since I left.

Nikki: I haven't seen Sharon all morning. Is she staying away to avoid upsetting Phyllis?

Nick: (Sighs) I hope that's all it is. I don't know. I haven't been able to get a hold of her. She hasn't been answering her phone.

Paul: Well, I'm sure this whole situation is just, um, bringing up the past.

Nikki: Yeah, I know Sharon wouldn't want a reminder of that.

Nick: Maybe.

Nikki: Where did Victor go?

Victor: Did you send that picture?

Jeff: Indeed, I did. Yeah, I know it's not your best side, but, hey, the good news is, no one else ever has to see it.

Victor: Why do you think I'd care?

Jeff: You're here, aren't you? Look, you and I are both men of the world. We understand each other.

Victor: Mm.

Jeff: You had your needs. You got 'em met.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Jeff: But I don't think Ashley's gonna look at it quite that way. In fact, if she were to know the truth, I'd wager she'd want your head on a spike.

Victor: Mm. And why would she do that?

Jeff: Oh, I see. (Laughs) You think I'm bluffing, that your little secret is still safe. You know, you really shouldn't trust a woman like Mary Jane. She and I had a nice little chat. She opened up to me.

Victor: You don't seem to be her type.

Jeff: You're right. I'm not. I don't have to pay for it.

Victor: Mm. What are you trying to say?

Jeff: Hey, don't get defensive. You want to spend your money on high-class hookers? I got no problem with that-- boosts the local economy. But I'm guessing your pregnant girlfriend is gonna see it a little differently.

Victor: (Chuckles) You've made a serious error in judgment.

Jeff: Don't run off. You haven't heard my terms.

Victor: What are your terms?

Jeff: Well, I'd let the whole thing slide...

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Jeff: But you know my financial situation. In fact, you created my financial situation.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Jeff: So here's how it's gonna work-- you reimburse me and Gloria and Jill for every dime we lost when you pulled your money out of that bank in the Caymans. In return, you get your picture and your privacy. Fair enough?

Victor: This is how it's gonna happen-- you take your decaying body and slink back to the swamp you came from. This conversation never happened.

Jeff: Yeah, but what about the conversation I'm gonna have with Ashley? Won't be so easy for you to forget that one, will it?

Victor: You really don't know who you're dealing with, do you? You picked the wrong side.

Nick: "When the two little girls looked up at the starlight, Heidi said, 'We ought to pray to the Lord every day about every single thing. And if we do not receive what we would like, we must not think the Lord hasn't listened and stop praying.'"

Nick: I gotta go find Dr. Spears.

Mary Jane: (Sighs) Hey.

Phyllis: Hey.

Mary Jane: Hi. He really adores her.

Phyllis: Yeah. He's very devoted to her. No matter what happens between us, he-- he'll always be there for her.

Mary Jane: Well, it must be a relief to you that, uh, he's not the father of Sharon's baby.

Phyllis: What?

Mary Jane: I-I thought you heard. Jack found out last night. Um, he's the father.

Sharon: Phyllis-- she doesn't need us there. She's--she's got Nick.

Jack: Well, Nick must be a wreck.

Sharon: No, no. He's-- he's handling it really well. He's not gonna have any regrets this time like he did with me and Cassie.

Jack: Wait, you saw him?

Sharon: Briefly.

Jack: And you didn't tell him he's not the father?

Sharon: He's just going through enough right now.

Jack: Well, Honey, if you just disappear, he's gonna suspect something's wrong, isn't he?

Sharon: Okay. Uh, you know, let's-- let's go to the hospital. But I'm not gonna go into the I.C.U. room. I don't belong there. I'm just gonna wait in the chapel.

Jack: I am not going to say a word to Nick about the baby. That's for you to tell him.

Kay: Well, I appreciate your willingness to come to the house like this.

Woman: We understand the need for discretion.

Kay: Thank you.

Nina: You didn't start without me, did you?

Jill: What are you doing here?

Nina: Oh, I thought we'd reminisce about old times, maybe play a board game. What do you think I'm doing here?

Kay: Don't start, you two. Just don't start.

Woman: Do you have a preference for which arm?

Cane: Do you mind if we do this in private? I have a thing about needles.

Lily: You never told me that.

Cane: Well, you know, I'm under enough pressure as it is without an audience.

Nina: Oh, don't think of us as an audience. Think of us as witnesses.

Jill: Okay, let's just get this over with.

Cane: Right.

Kay: Well, you know, just these few drops of blood, and then we'll all have answers that we need.

Cane: Okay. Go ahead.

Lily: See? And you didn't even pass out.

Cane: Thank God for small miracles, huh?

(Doorbell rings)

Victor: I need to speak with you.

Jill: Not a good time.

Victor: Mm-hmm. Now.

Nina: How long do we have to wait for the results?

Woman: We'll have them for you by the end of the week.

Lily: It doesn't matter when we get them. It's not gonna change anything.

Nina: For your sake, I hope not.

Lily: Oh, that is such bull. Anyone can see how excited you are.

Kay: L-Lily, y-you should just be more patient--

Lily: I mean, do you think you're acting out one of your screenplays where the brave heroine catches the evil villain? I think that you're confusing fiction with reality.

Nina: Lily, no offense, okay? But you don't have the best track record for knowing when you've been conned.

Kay: Stop, both of you!

Lily: Yeah, you know what? Actually, I have been lied to. That's why I'm so appreciative of Cane-- because of his honesty and his integrity. I mean, what are you even basing your accusations on? Absolutely nothing.

Nina: (Sighs) No, I think I've developed some pretty good instincts. I've been lied to before, too. You ever hear of a guy named David Kimball?

Lily: Oh, my gosh, you're not honestly comparing Cane to that psychopath?

Cane: Stop! Can't you see you're upsetting Katherine?

Nina: Oh, Dear, I'm so sorry. Are you all right?

Kay: No, no, it's all right. Just--

Lily: I'm sorry.

Nina: Do you need a glass of water or something?

Kay: Yes. Yes.

Lily: Okay, you're okay?

Cane: Here.

Lily: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get you so upset like that.

Cane: It fell on the floor.

Nina: Hey, what are you doing? You shouldn't be touching that.

Lily: Please, what do you think he's gonna do? Magically turn it into Phillip Chancellor's blood by the touch of his hand?

Cane: You okay? You okay?

Kay: Just, it's so-- so stress--stressful.

Cane: I know. I know. I know. I know. Come on. You can relax now.

Kay: (Sighs)

Cane: It's all right. Shh. You're okay. Come on.

Phyllis: So wait, Jack told you he was the father of the baby?

Mary Jane: Well, I-I was there when Sharon told him. You know, I don't know what this means for the two of them, but I know that Jack, you know, hopes that Sharon breaks up with Nick, which would be good news for you.

Phyllis: Oh, listen, the only good news for me right now is to know that my daughter's all right. Yeah.

Mary Jane: Of--of course. Of course. I didn't--I didn't mean to be so insensitive.

Phyllis: You're not.

Jack: Hey, "Red."

Phyllis: Oh, hey, Jack.

Jack: I would have been here sooner. I just heard.

Phyllis: (Sighs) Sharon told you?

Jack: Yeah.

Phyllis: Listen, is she here?

Jack: No, no. She doesn't want to intrude.

Phyllis: Uh, great. That's great. Listen, I just heard that you're the baby's father.

Jack: (Clears throat)

Phyllis: Hey, have you heard from Dr. Spears?

Nick: I just talked to him. He can't give me any answers.

Jack: Nick, I am so sorry. If there's anything at all I can do...

Nick: Thanks, Jack.

Mary Jane: Oh, Honey. I never, never intended for this to happen. It--it was just supposed to be a little distraction for Mommy to keep her focus off of Jack, that's all. You see, she-- she was taking him away from me. It was all her fault, and-- and it didn't even work out. Jack keeps hovering around. (Sniffles) So you know what? We're just gonna have to figure out something else hmm? To send Mommy far, far away.

Jill: So what are you implying, Victor? That I'm in cahoots with Jeffrey Bardwell?

Victor: What I'm telling you is that he tried to extort money from me on your behalf.

Jill: Look, I don't know what's in Jeffrey’s mind. Maybe this is a misguided attempt to impress me. I'm sure you sent him on his way.

Victor: Got that right.

Jill: Good. Well, problem solved then... unless he really does have something on you.

Victor: No, he has nothing on me. He's making wild accusations, and he's threatening to go to Ashley with them.

Jill: So? She'd never take his word over yours... unless his accusations aren't as ridiculous as you say they are.

Victor: What you don't understand is that I'm very concerned about Ashley. She's very fragile right now. She should not be exposed to some nonsense like this, all right?

Jill: Okay, well, look, um, I do have some influence with Jeffrey...

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Jill: So maybe I could be prevailed upon to help you...

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Jill: If there were something in it for me, like maybe a job at Newman Enterprises.

Nina: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gotten into it with Lily.

Kay: No.

Nina: None of it is her fault.

Kay: Oh, listen, all I want-- I want this over and done and settled.

Nina: I know.

Cane: That's what we all want, Katherine.

Kay: Oh, thank you. Thank you.

(Sighs)

Cane: Can I get you anything else?

Kay: (Sighs)

Cane: Esther said you haven't eaten since breakfast.

Kay: (Sets glass down) I have no appetite.

Cane: How long has this been going on for?

Kay: Well, since the, um, um, um, the ex-exhumation. Exhumation.

Lily: Hey, that was my dad. He said that he wants to talk to me about something. So do you mind if we go by the coffeehouse?

Cane: Look, you go ahead. Um, I'm gonna go and check in on Mom, and I want to see what Victor's up to, okay?

Lily: Oh, you're such a good son. I'll see you soon.

Cane: Mm, I love you, Baby.

Lily: I love you, too.

Cane: Bye.

Lily: Bye, Katherine. I hope you feel better, okay?

Kay: (Chuckles)

Lily: Nina.

(Keys jingle)

Nina: Good-bye, Lily.

Cane: I'll talk to her.

Nina: About me?

Cane: Yeah. Look, she feels like I'm under attack. Look, and I understand. This is not a vendetta. You just want some answers.

Nina: Yeah, I do.

Cane: And I don't blame you for having any doubts. I mean, I would, too, if I were in your shoes, so I'm just happy to do whatever I can to put your mind at ease.

Heather: Phyllis.

Phyllis: Hey, Heather.

Heather: How's Summer?

Phyllis: Um, she's the same. We haven't heard anything new.

Heather: Um, your hands are shaking. Is that for insurance?

Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah, it's insurance.

Heather: Can I do it for you?

Phyllis: Oh, thank you.

Heather: Okay.

Phyllis: I appreciate that.

Heather: No problem. (Clears throat) Have you--have you seen my dad or Nikki?

Phyllis: Uh, I'm assuming they took Nick to the cafeteria.

Heather: No, Nick's here. I just saw him.

Phyllis: Oh, you did?

Heather: Yeah.

Phyllis: Coming or going?

Heather: Uh, he was on the phone.

Phyllis: With whom?

Heather: I don't know.

Phyllis: Yeah, Sharon. Sharon.

Nick: (Sighs)

Phyllis: Excuse me. Um, hey, uh, where were you?

Nick: Why? Did something happen?

Phyllis: No, nothing happened, but if something did happen, how would you know? You were too busy on the phone with Sharon.

Nick: All right, don't--

Phyllis: I'm right.

Nick: Don't do this.

Phyllis: I'm right, though.

Nick: Don't do this.

Phyllis: I'm right, aren't I? Listen, if your daughter woke up, you would have missed it. I really need you here.

Nick: I'm here. I'm--I'm--

Phyllis: You promised me. You promised me last night that for once, you would put our daughter first.

Nick: Phyllis, I was just leaving a message. I haven't heard from her all day. I was wondering-- I was worried if something happened to the baby. That's it.

Phyllis: Her baby? Her baby? Nick, it's not even yours. Why are you worried?

Nick: Wh-what?

Phyllis: It's not yours. It's Jack’s. The test proved it. It's over.

(Footsteps approach)

Phyllis: (Sighs)

Nick: Where's Sharon?

Jack: She's in the chapel.

Jack: (Sighs) Come here. Come here.

Phyllis: (Sighs)

Jill: And don't tell me you don't have any openings, because you just lost Neil. Now your children have enormous potential, but no experience. They're not seasoned. I am the perfect person to fill that gap.

Victor: Mm-hmm. You and I know there are plenty of companies for whom you would be better suited.

Jill: Really? Here in Genoa City?

Victor: Or elsewhere. Mm-hmm.

Jill: Oh, no, no, no. I am not leaving my sons or my grandchild.

Victor: That's not what you're concerned about. You're concerned about leaving Katherine.

Jill: Katherine? Are you kidding?

Victor: You're not her daughter. That has been proven. Yet you're dependent on that connection to her because it gives you status and relevance, doesn't it?

Jill: You have overstayed your welcome, and good luck with Jeffrey, 'cause you're not getting any help from me.

Lily: Why are you asking me all these questions about Cane and his uncle? Or do I even need to ask?

Neil: You're not happy with Nina right now. I-I get that. But if it were your husband whose body had disappeared--

Lily: Okay, Dad, you know what? Yeah, she needs answers. That's fine. But she shouldn't go around accusing innocent people of terrible things.

Neil: She says that Cane's been evasive.

Lily: Well, yeah. He doesn't like talking about his childhood. I mean, I don't even go there with him.

Neil: Are you serious? He won't talk to you about his past?

Lily: No, he... (Sighs) He would if I asked him.

Neil: Okay, so ask.

Lily: Well, I don't want him to think that I don't trust him.

Neil: Sounds to me like he's the one who's not trusting you.

Lily: Okay, you know what? I'm gonna go. I'll talk to you later.

Cane: Hey.

Lily: Cane, hey.

Cane: You okay?

Lily: Yeah, um, if there was something I needed to know, you would tell me, right?

Cane: What do you mean?

Lily: Well, just about your uncle and your past. I mean, are you keeping anything from me that you shouldn't?

Cane: Sweetheart, listen. All those questions that people have are gonna go away, all right? And those D.N.A tests will prove without a doubt I am the real Phillip Chancellor iii. Come here.

Nina: And so these are all--

Paul: Anyone that had any contact with Phillip the night he died-- policemen, EMTs, hospital personnel.

Nina: And you've talked to all of them?

Paul: Except for this guy-- the only one unaccounted for.

Nina: It's the cop who rode in the ambulance with Phillip.

Paul: Yeah, that's right. He left the force and moved away, and nobody knows what happened to him.

Nina: But you're gonna find out.

Paul: I'm already on it.

Nina: Okay.

Nikki: Excuse me.

Mary Jane: Sure.

(Door closes)

Mary Jane: Oh, God. You poor, sweet baby. I should have-- I should have done something. I just couldn't believe your own mother would-- would do something like that.

Heather: Like what?

Mary Jane: Oh--

Heather: Were you talking about Phyllis?

Mary Jane: No, no. You know, I didn't know somebody was standing right there. You know Phyllis?

Heather: Yes. I'm Paul Williams' daughter.

Mary Jane: Oh, my God. The Assistant D.A.

Heather: What is it that you think Phyllis did?

Mary Jane: You know what? I shouldn't say anything, because I can't be sure.

Heather: Listen, if you think that Phyllis did something to hurt Summer, then--

Mary Jane: You know what? She couldn't have known it was gonna be this bad. She just wanted to get Nick's attention, that's all.

Nick: Sharon?

[Nick remembering]

Nick: We have cherished every moment with you, every one of them.

(Machines beeping)

Nick: You're such an amazing daughter.

Sharon: (Sniffles)

Nick: You really are one of a kind.

Cassie: (Weakly) You'll have another little girl someday.

Sharon: What? Cassie, Honey, we have our little girl.

Cassie: Well, you'll-- you'll have another one. I know it.

Nick: Where have you been?

Cassie: Looking for this. It's a present for Faith. It was mine when I was little, and I want my baby sister to have it.

Nick: Faith... you wanted us to name her Faith, to have faith, and I did. I believed. So why-- you already took my Cassie. And to take Summer, even the dream of a new baby... you can't be that cruel. So help me. Help me understand this, please. Give me a sign, anything.

Jill: (Sighs) Cane left?

Kay: Uh, uh, yes, he waited as--as long as he could. Uh, what, uh, did Victor want?

Jill: It's none of your business. So when will we get the test results?

Kay: Test results? Uh, at the end of-- of the week.

Jill: Good. Then we won't have to see any more of Nina Webster. Good riddance.

Kay: You don't have to be so hard on her.

Jill: (Sighs) My God. She is trying to take another son away from me, Katherine. Oh... (Laughs sarcastically) But you would love that, wouldn't you? You would love it if I ended up with nothing and no one.

Kay: Don't—

(Stammers)

Jill: What, you're not gonna argue? Did I hit the nail on the head?

Kay: I don't feel well!

Jill: Oh, don't you give me that. You are not gonna weasel out of this, 'cause you deserve it. You don't want to talk? I want to talk. You're gonna listen to what I have to say.

Jeff: Mm, message from Jill. Victor went straight over there and told her to call off the hounds. We got him.

Gloria: He's a very dangerous man, Jeffery.

Jeff: Relax.

Gloria: No. Don't you tell me to relax. One of the most powerful men in the world, and he wants us dead.

Jeff: No, what he wants is to be in control, and he's not, and he hates it. (Chuckles) We've got Victor Newman on a leash. Thank you, Mary Jane Benson. (Laughs)

Mary Jane: Uh, I'm not really comfortable with you barging in when I'm not around.

Victor: Mm-hmm. We've been found out.

Mary Jane: What?

Victor: Our connection has been discovered.

Mary Jane: So someone knows who I am?

Victor: Only that you have an association with me, so you have to be careful.

Mary Jane: Well, eve-- everything is under control on my end. I-I-it--Jack has been holding back lately, but the situation is much improved this morning. We're getting closer.

Victor: Good. I wouldn't want history to repeat itself.

Mary Jane: No. No, that will never happen.

Phyllis: What-- did Nick come back?

Heather: No.

Jack: He'll--he'll--he'll-- he'll be here.

Phyllis: (Sighs)

Heather: Hi, it's Heather. I need you to pull all the case research we have on Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome.

Sharon: Nick. Um, I didn't want to interrupt.

Nick: So I heard... Jack's the father.

Sharon: Well, I wish he hadn't told you.

Nick: Is it true?

Sharon: Nick, uh, let's not talk about that right now, okay?

Nick: Oh, Sharon.

Sharon: Phyllis needs you. Sum--Summer needs you.

Nick: I can't take this in. I--

Sharon: Okay, well, let's-- just--jus--just put your focus where it belongs right now, okay?

Nick: I really knew. I believed that that baby was mine.

Sharon: I know. I know that this is-- it's really, really difficult, but if you let Phyllis down like you did me, it--it will destroy you. You--you will never be able to forgive yourself, and that's what I want to-- I want to spare you from that pain, so just go to her, okay? Please.

Nick: It's a girl, isn't it?

Sharon: Yes. But it's not your girl. I'm--I'm sorry, Nick. I'm sorry.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Kevin: What's worse? Losing Daniel because he would judge you, or losing him when you could have been the one to save him?

Billy: How long have you been here?

Mac: Long enough to hear some pretty surprising things.

Kay: I'm absolutely thrilled that that witch and I are not related.
