Victor: My darling, would you mind coming out to the ranch? Well, now if it's possible. I appreciate it. I'll see you soon.
Ashley: Good morning.
Victor: Well, my sweetheart.
Ashley: How are you? Mm.
Victor: Are you going out?
Ashley: Yeah, quick trip into town.
Victor: You are?
Ashley: Mm-hmm.
Victor: Well, now sit down.
Ashley: What?
Victor: As long as you don't go to Estella's arraignment.
Ashley: No. Just, um, just running a couple errands. Then I'm gonna have lunch with Jack.
Victor: But stay away from the courthouse, okay?
Ashley: Mm-hmm.
Victor: I think seeing Estella might upset you, especially if things don't work out the way you'd hoped.
Ashley: I think they will.
Victor: (Sighs) I'm not so sure. I don't know how airtight that case is.
Ashley: Really?
Victor: Mm-hmm.
Ashley: Even though the tape recorder was found in her pocket and her fingerprints were on the box? Seems pretty airtight to me. Besides, who else has access to the property?
Victor: That's what I've been thinking about.
Ashley: Hi, Adam.
Adam: Ashley.
Victor: What were you doing outside, son?
Adam: (Inhales) Getting some fresh air. Not that I can go far, but, uh, sometimes I feel like the walls are closing in.
Victor: How'd you sleep last night?
Adam: I dozed off around 3:00.
Victor: I've got to tell you that I'm very, very sorry that Dr. Donahue did not find a place for you in his stem cell trial.
Adam: It's not what I had hoped to hear, but, uh, I've lived with the notion ever since I was little that one day I might go blind. Besides, there's no guarantee the experimental procedure would have been successful.
Victor: I just want you to know that I will not leave a stone unturned to try to find a cure for what's ailing you, all right? We're in this together. You're not alone, son.
J.T.: Victor had Estella arrested?
Victoria: Estella? Poor thing. She must have been terrified.
Nikki: I'm going to the court to offer her my support.
J.T.: What, you don't buy the evidence against her?
Nikki: Absolutely not. That poor woman was framed.
J.T.: By who?
Nikki: My guess is Adam.
Victoria: Yeah. I wouldn't put it past him.
J.T.: You got anything solid on him?
Nikki: Not yet, but I'm gonna keep looking. He got off way too easy for what he tried to do to Victor. This time, he's gonna pay.
Noah: Thanks. Mr. Torres?
Rafe: Oh, hey, Noah. What's going on?
Noah: You got a minute?
Rafe: Uh, actually, it's about all I have. What do you need?
Noah: I need advice. (Sighs)
Rafe: About?
Noah: I want to become an emancipated minor.
Rafe: Wow. That's a big step. Do you know what's involved?
Noah: Not exactly.
Rafe: Okay, well, you're gonna have to show that you're able to support yourself, that you have a legal dwelling, you know, somewhere to live.
Noah: Mm-hmm. And if I can line that up, you'll help me?
Rafe: Um, I'll tell you what, why don't you come by my office a little later on? We'll discuss this further. I gotta head over to the courtroom.
Noah: Okay.
Rafe: Okay?
Noah: Yeah. Thanks.
(Cell phone rings)
Noah: Hey, Dad, what's up? (Sighs)
Nick: Hey, so your mom and I have some important news. You want to meet us at the Athletic Club? Okay, great. We'll see you here.
Sharon: So is he coming?
Nick: He is on the way.
Sharon: Good. (Sighs) So you're sure about the house on Rampart Lane?
Nick: Yes. I mean, after seeing it in person, I think it's absolutely perfect.
Sharon: Good. I'm glad you feel that way, because so do I. I can't believe we're actually doing this.
Nick: It's gonna be amazing. Pretty soon, we're gonna find out the paternity of the baby in the C.V.S. results. And we're gonna have this beautiful home where we can be a family again.
Sharon: And you still believe that the baby I'm carrying is yours, and it's the one that Cassie predicted?
Nick: Yes. It's the future we were meant to have.
Mary Jane: (Sighs) Jack and I are soul mates, kitty. He would realize it if he wasn't so distracted. Sometimes men just need a little nudging. (Chuckles)
(Knock on door)
Mary Jane: Shh. (Whispers) Not a peep.
(Bell jingles)
Mary Jane: (Normal voice) Hi.
Jack: Hi. What's this business we need to discuss?
Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa. I thought you said this was an important Jabot matter.
Mary Jane: Well, what's more important than keeping the C.E.O. of the company happy? Hmm?
Victoria: Well, it couldn't have been easy for him to pull it off.
J.T.: Oh, look, even if Adam had 20/20 vision, there's still the issue of the ankle monitor. I mean, he can't go much past the front door without the police knowing.
Nikki: I figure he had an accomplice.
J.T.: Well, it takes a hell of a lot of anger to mutilate the statue of a dead mother and child.
Nikki: Yeah, just like it took a lot of anger to frame your own father for murder.
Victoria: (Scoffs) It's just--it's all disgusting. He may as well have just spit on Sabrina's grave. Look, I need a refill. Can we please change the subject when I get back?
J.T.: (Sighs) She's been a little emotional about Sabrina lately.
Nikki: Yesterday was Sabrina and Victor's wedding anniversary.
J.T.: Yeah, which brought back a lot of memories. She and her father had words.
Nikki: Really? About what?
J.T.: Well, Victor has decided to have the statue removed and take down Sabrina's portrait. And Victoria feels that he's just doing this to erase his history with her so he can focus solely on Ashley.
Nikki: (Sighs) Well, that is true. Ashley and her unborn child have become the center of his universe. But I do know this-- Victor carries the weight of the past with him every day.
Victor: You know that I remember the day that Hope realized that she was pregnant. I'd never seen her that happy.
Ashley: What about you? Were you happy?
Victor: No. I didn't want her to be pregnant.
Ashley: Really?
Victor: Mnh-mnh.
Ashley: Were you afraid the baby would inherit the disease?
Victor: Exactly.
Ashley: Oh.
Victor: And look what's happening to Adam now. Whatever chances there were of reversing his condition, they just got slimmer.
Ashley: I just can't believe what he was subjected to in prison. To be attacked in such a horrific way, it's just....
Victor: Yeah.
Ashley: Unbelievable.
Victor: And I promised his mother that I would look out for him. I'm afraid I failed.
Ashley: That's ridiculous. You found him the most cutting-edge doctor in the country. You bought an entire company just so you could get him a spot in the stem cell trials.
Victor: But, Sweetheart, to what avail? It's all too late now.
Ashley: Victor, there's breakthroughs in medicine every single day.
Victor: But, Sweetheart, meanwhile, his vision is getting less and less.
Ashley: I know. It's very sad. But Adam's like you. He's a survivor, and he will adjust.
Victor: Eventually. But right now, he's a very angry man, and I don't blame him.
Heather: Adam?
Adam: Heather, thank God you're here.
Heather: Uh, yeah, of course. You scared me. You were almost incoherent on the phone.
Adam: Did Victor hassle you about coming to visit me?
Heather: No. No, I came up the back way.
Adam: Good.
Heather: Look, I need to get back to court. I-I'm due in court for Estella's arraignment.
Adam: Listen, I'm sorry about yesterday, practically throwing you out of here.
Heather: Well, I know that you were nervous about meeting the doctor.
Adam: It turns out I was right to worry.
Heather: Why? What'd he say?
Adam: I'm going blind.
Heather: But that's-- that's nothing we didn't already know.
Adam: Yeah, but I found out that I was a candidate for an elect-- experimental procedure that-- I'm no longer.
Heather: Why?
Adam: Because of dear old dad.
Heather: What? I don't understand.
Adam: Yeah. Victor didn't lift a finger to get me out of prison. He wanted to teach me a lesson, but it's because of him that I ended up with needles in my eyes.
Heather: Wait--
Adam: It is his fault that I am never gonna see again.
Heather: Wait, wait, wait. What do--what do you mean, "Needles"?
Adam: Some inmates jumped me, and I-- the damage was irreversible.
Heather: Oh, my God, Sweetheart. I am so sorry.
Adam: First, "Daddy Megabucks" lets me rot in that hellhole, and then he finally brings me home and accuses me of gas lighting Ashley. I can't even lock my bedroom door-- that's how much he trusts me.
Heather: Well, I bet that he wishes that he got you out sooner.
Adam: Yeah, now he does. But it's too late. You know what? (Kicks object) Screw him.
Victor: Thanks for coming by.
J.T.: Sure.
Victor: Please, sit down. (Sighs) I didn't mean to hurt you.
Victoria: Daddy, it was really hard watching you take Sabrina's portrait down.
Victor: Sweetheart, I understand that. It was hard for me, too. But think of Ashley for a moment. She looked at that portrait every day. It brought back some pretty sad memories for her, you know?
Victoria: Whatever.
Victor: I'm sorry. But listen, I've been thinking. I'm sure you kept an eye on the Newman art foundation after Sabrina's death.
Victoria: Yes.
Victor: Well, would you like to rebuild my collection?
Victoria: But I thought that you'd lost interest.
Victor: But, Sweetheart, Sabrina was passionate about it. I mean, she introduced me to art that I've never known before.
Victoria: (Sighs) Like the shark in the tank?
Victor: Or that broken egg.
Victoria: (Laughs)
Victor: Think about it. If you ran that, and if you rebuild the collection, there's no better way than that to keep her legacy alive.
Victoria: Dad.
Victor: (Chuckles)
Estella: This all seems so unreal. I-I feel like I'm in a nightmare that I can't wake up from.
Nikki: I know. I-I just hate that you have to go through this.
Estella: You and Sabrina were always so kind to me. I-I loved being a part of that household.
Nikki: You're a cherished member of the family.
Estella: You don't treat family members the way Ms. Abbott is treating me.
Nikki: I know. She's just very frightened and misguided.
Estella: I've tried to be a good person. I go to church every week. Why is she doing this to me?
Ashley: Because you've been trying to drive me insane, Estella, and make me believe that Sabrina was haunting me.
Estella: I didn’t. I'm innocent.
Ashley: The evidence says otherwise.
Nikki: Why don't you go in and wait with Rafe?
Nikki: Ashley, do you think its wise being here in your condition? I mean, it might be very stressful.
Ashley: I wasn't planning on coming, and then I decided it would be much more stressful if I didn't come.
Nikki: What do you mean?
Ashley: Estella tried to ruin my life, Nikki. I need to make sure that she's being dealt with so I can get back to my life.
Nikki: (Sighs) Ashley, I know you've gone through hell, and you want to see someone punished, but Estella has been set up.
Ashley: By Adam. You're so sure of that.
Nikki: Yes, I am. Adam has much more reason to hurt Victor and his family than she does.
Ashley: Nikki, he's almost completely blind.
Nikki: Well, so what? Y-you think every blind person wears a halo?
Ashley: You know, that man has been looking out for me and my child for months, and I'm not gonna hear another bad word against him.
Adam: Every time I think things can't get worse, they do.
Heather: So just cry, scream or yell. You have to get it out. Then you have to pull yourself together.
Adam: Why bother?
Heather: Because-- because, Adam, you can't let this destroy you, okay? You have your entire future ahead of you.
Adam: Thanks to Victor, all I hear is a ticking clock winding down till I'm all alone in a black pit.
Heather: Look, however much you hate him, you're still in a comfortable home. You have access to the best medical care possible.
Adam: I'm a prisoner.
Heather: Maybe. Yeah, but someday, you will get paroled, and the monitor will come off, and I will be waiting here, standing waiting for you with open arms.
Adam: Why would you want me? I'm useless.
Heather: No. No. You are a beautiful, talented young man who can still have a very, very full life ahead of him, and I want you because I love you.
Adam: (Sighs)
[Mary Jane imagining]
Jack: (Sighs)
Mary Jane: (Laughs) I can't catch my breath.
Jack: I'll take that as a compliment.
Mary Jane: Oh, you were incredible.
Jack: You were pretty incredible yourself.
Mary Jane: Mm. Can I ask you something?
Jack: Sure. What?
Mary Jane: Oh, you know what? Never mind.
Jack: No, wait. Wait.
Mary Jane: (Laughs)
Jack: Come on, tell smilin' Jack what's in that pretty little head of yours.
Mary Jane: Oh, I know you're not looking for anything serious, and neither am I, but, uh...
Jack: But...
Mary Jane: I'm falling for you, Jack. I-I-I realize you haven't been divorced for very long, and I know you're spending a lot of time with Phyllis.
Jack: What's your question?
Mary Jane: Is there a chance for us?
Jack: Sharon is with Nick now. Phyllis and I are just friends.
Mary Jane: So wh-what are you saying?
Jack: I am saying you are the only woman I want to be with.
Mary Jane: You mean it?
Jack: More than anything I've ever said.
Mary Jane: Mm. (Sighs) (Laughs) I can't catch my breath.
Jack: Yeah, I know. Same here. You overwhelmed me from the moment I walked in the door.
Mary Jane: Well, I am gonna take that as a compliment.
(Cell phone beeps)
Jack: Oh.
Mary Jane: (Sighs) Well, you are a busy man. That's the third message this evening. Is it Phyllis?
Jack: Um, hold on. Office, office... and Ashley canceling our lunch date.
Mary Jane: Oh, well, that's good. You don't have to rush off.
Jack: Why-- why would you think it was Phyllis?
Mary Jane: Well, you've been spending a lot of time with her, and her son is in trouble, right?
Jack: How would you know that?
Mary Jane: How about less talk and a little more action, huh?
Jack: Uh, what are you-- stop.
Mary Jane: (Sighs)
Sharon: You remember we told you that we were back together.
Nick: And you didn't believe us.
Sharon: And why would you? I mean, I-I mean, I moved in and out of Jack's house so many times and...
Nick: And I would argue with Phyllis. Then we'd make up. Then we'd argue some more.
Noah: Yeah, you change your minds, like, every other day.
Nick: We understand that must have been very confusing for you.
Sharon: But we just want you to know that this time, we're in it for the long haul.
Nick: Yeah, we're buying a house, son, someplace where we can all be together and be a family again.
Noah: (Sighs)
Nick: And there's gonna be so much room for you and--and me and your mom and fisher and the new baby and Summer when she's with us.
Sharon: It'll be a fresh start.
Nick: What do you think?
Noah: Look, the house sounds great, but I'm not moving in.
Sharon: Okay, I know you like it at the ranch.
Noah: It's not that. I just don't want to live with you guys.
Sharon: Why not?
Noah: Because I can't pretend like things haven't happened and we're all one, big, happy family again.
Nick: No one is asking you to do that. We understand. There are some things that need to be ironed out.
Noah: Like Summer's visitation schedule? There's no way I want her to go through the same things I did.
Nick: Son, I'm gonna see her all the time.
Noah: It's not the same, and you know it.
Sharon: You said you wanted to help with the baby.
Noah: (Scoffs) Another kid you guys can screw up? Thanks, but no thanks.
Nick: Wow.
Sharon: Noah, you're our son. You belong with us.
Noah: It's not gonna happen.
Nick: All right. So what are you gonna do? You just gonna stay with your grandpa, keep mooching off him?
Noah: I can take care of myself, Dad. I'm filing for emancipation. I'm gonna live on my own. But I talked to a lawyer.
Nick: Getting emancipated isn't nearly as easy as you think.
Noah: I know that.
Sharon: Sweetheart, it's not as if you've been abused or something. You have two parents who love you. Wouldn't, oh, I don't know, family therapy be a better place to start?
Noah: That won't help.
Sharon: Oh, but overreacting will?
Nick: Okay, is this really about your issues with us, or is it just about you wanting to be with your girlfriend?
Noah: That is so not it.
Sharon: Really? So the idea of going and getting a little apartment and having Eden move in with you, that-- that never even occurred to you?
Noah: This is not about Eden. But, yeah, if she wanted to move in with me, that would be great. She gets me. You guys don't have a clue.
Adam: I know I don't always act like it, but I l-- I love you, too, Heather.
Heather: My sweet Adam.
Adam: You're the only person in the world that I trust. I don't know what I would do without you.
Heather: Well, you're never gonna have to find out. I am so sorry for all of your pain. I wish I could take it away, and I'm gonna do whatever I can to make it easier for you.
Adam: You've already done it. Not many people would have stood by me the way that you have. I don't even know how to tell you how thankful I am.
Ashley: Well, you can look at me all you want. Estella had access and motive. All the evidence points to her. I mean, short of a confession, what more do you want?
Rafe: I want justice for my aunt, and the so-called evidence is a joke.
Ashley: Rafe, the box had her fingerprints on it.
Rafe: That's because it's the same box she delivered to Victor's house two days earlier. Obviously, someone used it to send you the statue head.
Ashley: Okay, well, I guess you're gonna have to prove that.
Rafe: I intend to, and the charges will get thrown out of court. But nothing is going to compensate her for the humiliation and emotional distress that you and Victor have caused her. See you in court.
Nikki: Thank you. After you, Ashley.
Victoria: (Sighs) I'm so sorry that I blew up at you yesterday. I thought you were throwing away Sabrina's portrait.
Victor: No, I wouldn't do that. Things aren't always what they seem, my sweetheart.
Victoria: I know. But this gesture that you made with the art foundation, it really shows me that you understand.
Victor: She was my wife and your best friend.
Victoria: I am gonna make Sabrina so proud.
Victor: I'm sure you will.
(Cell phone rings)
Victoria: Victoria Newman. Oh, yeah. Do you have those numbers that I asked for? Excuse me.
Victor: (Sighs)
J.T.: (Sighs) Thanks for doing that. Asking Victoria to carry on Sabrina's work is gonna make her really happy.
Victor: Yeah, I hope so. I certainly hope so. Maybe now things will calm down around here. Have you heard that they arrested Estella for terrorizing Ashley?
J.T.: Yeah. Yeah, Nikki filled us in. She's convinced she was framed.
Victor: Well, she thinks it was Adam.
J.T.: Did you check out the rest of the staff?
Victor: I've thought about that, but, you know, most of them weren't here when all these things started. But it could have possibly been someone who doesn't live on the ranch.
J.T.: Got any names?
Victor: I've been thinking lately. You told me when Victoria had the accident that you had seen someone wandering around the ranch. Remember that?
J.T.: Yeah, Mary Jane Benson.
Victor: Uh-huh.
J.T.: She, uh, she claimed she'd seen the ranch in "Architectural Digest" and wanted to check it out in person.
Victor: Huh. Plausible.
J.T.: Yeah. Yeah, it's plausible. That's what I thought when I-- when it happened, but now I'm not so sure.
Victor: Why aren't you sure?
J.T.: Well, I had a conversation with Paul Williams recently.
Victor: Uh-huh.
J.T.: Mary Jane apparently tried to have him arrested for harassment and then took out a restraining order against him.
Victor: Yeah, I heard about that.
J.T.: Yeah, I guess, uh, Mary Jane went crazy over some question he asked her, so that got me thinking about her reaction when I caught her at the ranch.
Victor: Mm-hmm. So you think there was more to her sightseeing than she let on?
J.T.: That's what my gut's telling me.
Victor: Why don't you check it out right now?
J.T.: Hey. Hey, Randy, it's J.T. listen, um, can you check the visitor log? Yeah, check for a Mary Jane Benson. I know she's been here at least once. Really? Okay. Yeah, thanks. Well, apparently, Mary Jane's been a regular visitor for some time. You want me to check into it further?
Victor: No, I'll take it from here, J.T. thanks.
Mary Jane: (Sighs) Why don't you stay? We can work here.
Jack: I think you're too big a distraction.
Mary Jane: You love it.
Jack: Listen, I think you're a terrific gal.
Mary Jane: Mm, and flattery will get you everywhere.
Jack: But I want to make sure we're on the same page here.
Mary Jane: And what page is that?
Jack: This relationship is about fun and games.
Mary Jane: Uh-huh. You mean sex. (Laughs)
Jack: Okay, if you want to be blunt, sex. You said you understood that.
Mary Jane: I do. I do. You're recently divorced, and you're not looking to get serious with anyone.
Jack: I only bring this up because I don't want you to get hurt.
Mary Jane: I have no intention of getting hurt.
Jack: Okay, great.
Mary Jane: Mm-hmm. I have a meeting at "Restless Style." Will I, uh, see you later?
Jack: Sure.
(Door closes)
Mary Jane: (Sighs)
Mary Jane: (Sighs)
(Bell jingles)
Mary Jane: (Giggles) It's happening, kitty. I can feel it. I just--I need to take it slow, hmm? Until he realizes he can't live without me.
Mary Jane: (Sighs)
Nick: So you think giving us the silent treatment is, uh... (Sighs) Mature enough to show us that you can live on your own?
Noah: What's the point of talking if you're just gonna make fun of me?
Sharon: We're not making fun of you.
Noah: You're not taking me seriously, just like you never took Eden and me seriously.
Nick: That's not true.
Noah: You guys are such hypocrites. You got married when you were teenagers.
Sharon: And if we had it to do over again, we would have taken it slower.
Nick: (Sighs) Son, you're so young. Please stop trying to grow up so fast.
Noah: You had a baby when you were my age.
Sharon: Well, I'll never regret having Cassie, but I wasn't ready, just like you're not ready to move out on your own.
Nick: Being an adult is hard, man.
Sharon: I know you're disappointed in us.
Nick: We've lived longer than you have. We've picked up a few lessons along the way.
Sharon: And getting emancipated is just running from your problems.
Noah: (Scoffs) Right. Turn it around on me.
Sharon: Every teenager thinks they have all the answers.
Nick: But believe us, you still need your parents.
Noah: You guys are too screwed up to run your own lives, let alone mine.
Rafe: Your honor, I'd like the record to reflect that Ms. Munoz is a woman of very limited means. At the moment, she's not even employed. She's not a flight risk, and the evidence against her is circumstantial at best.
Judge: Ms. Stevens, what's the state's position on this?
Heather: I have no objection to minimum bail, Judge, as long as the defendant honors the restraining order, stays away from the Newmans and their property.
Judge: Can you do that, Ms. Munoz?
Estella: Yes, your honor.
Judge: Very well. Bail is set at $5,000.
Estella: (Sighs)
Rafe: I'll post bond, and you'll be out within the hour, okay?
Estella: Thank you.
Rafe: Be strong.
Ashley: Estella, you might be free for now, but don't you dare try anything. I'm on to you.
Victor: I want to see you immediately. No, I will not come there, and I don't want you to set foot in my home. Come to the ranch. The guards will show you to the back entrance, all right? There's a garden they will lead you to. Okay. That's where I'll be. Bye.
Noah: (Sighs)
Jack: Emancipated minor? That's pretty serious stuff.
Noah: I wish I never told you guys.
Sharon: Sweetheart, I know that we've put you under a lot of pressure lately, but I know that we can work through this.
Noah: I don't want to work through it.
Jack: Would you guys mind my talking to Noah alone?
Noah: Why?
Jack: No speeches, I promise. Come on. Two colas, please. I had no idea things had gotten so bad you wanted to divorce your parents.
Noah: (Sighs heavily) Well, they have.
Jack: Most kids in your situation would trip over themselves to have their parents back together again.
Noah: Most kids don't have a mom and dad who are a couple of flakes.
Jack: Hey, come on. They made some mistakes. Who hasn't? They love you, Noah.
Noah: (Scoffs) Look, loving me doesn't give them a free pass to ruin so many people's lives... like yours.
Jack: Mine?
Noah: My mom said she loved you.
Jack: Your mom does love me, in her own way.
Noah: Right. That's why she walked out on you again.
Jack: She did not mean to hurt me, Noah.
Noah: How can-- how can you stand up for her?
Jack: That's complicated.
Noah: No, not to me. I just want to get as far away from them as possible.
Jack: Okay, I feel your pain. I do. Just do me one favor.
Noah: (Sighs) What?
Jack: Wait a few weeks. I'm not saying everything's gonna change, but at least it may give you a chance to see things differently.
Noah: (Sighs)
Victoria: Can I get two double lattes to go? Thank you.
J.T.: (Sighs) Wow, you're excited, aren't you?
Victoria: Yes, I'm excited. This is--this is an incredible opportunity. I can't wait to get started.
J.T.: All right. All right. But before you, uh, before you dive in, let's set some rules.
Victoria: Wait a minute, rules?
J.T.: Yeah. No more meetings in dark alleys with guys who are trying to sell you paintings.
Victoria: Okay. I promise you, my days of spying are in the past.
J.T.: All right. Good, babe, 'cause I'm-- I-I really don't want to visit you in the hospital anymore.
Victoria: Well, I don't want to be in the hospital anymore.
J.T.: All right, so what are you gonna start with?
Victoria: Well, I'm gonna rebuild the collection of modern pieces that my father sold or gave away after Sabrina's death.
J.T.: Good. What's your first painting?
Victoria: Um, well, there's-- there's work by Jeff Koons that, uh, Sabrina really loved a lot. But she could never put the deal together, but I just learned that it's being sold by a private party.
J.T.: You gonna go for it?
Victoria: You know, I can't think of a better piece to buy in Sabrina's honor.
Ashley: Excuse me.
Heather: Uh-huh.
Ashley: Why didn't you oppose bail?
Heather: Well, the woman has no priors. Um, there's really no reason to consider her to be a flight risk. And as Rafe said, the evidence is circumstantial.
Ashley: Right. Well, at least there's a restraining order.
Heather: Exactly. And if she violates it, she will be in jail so fast, her head will spin, so you don't have anything to worry about, okay? We'll be in touch.
Nikki: It's a travesty this arraignment had to happen at all. A decent woman is being punished for a crime she didn't commit, all because you and Victor can't see past the obvious.
Mary Jane: Victor?
Victor: Hi.
Mary Jane: Why-- why did you want to meet here?
Victor: You have no idea?
Mary Jane: No.
Victor: You've been breaking the boundaries in the past, and I'm afraid you've been doing it again.
Mary Jane: Okay, I-I-I-- I have no idea what you are talking about.
Victor: You don't?
Mary Jane: No.
Victor: Mm-hmm. You've been wandering on my property, and you insinuated yourself into my family, and then you stabbed me in the back. Do you think you're gonna get away with it?
Mary Jane: (Sighs)
Victoria: Hi, yes. I'm calling about the Jeff Koons piece. Victoria Newman. Uh, sure. I'll hold.
Man: It's for you. Victoria Newman.
Ashley: Would you like me to hold the elevator?
Nikki: No, thank you. I'm going to talk to Rafe.
Rafe: Okay. Gotta go.
Nikki: Hi. I just wanted to tell you, like you, I believe that somebody on the estate is targeting Ashley and Estella.
Rafe: The question is who?
Nikki: Well, I know he's your friend, but I'm convinced it's Adam.
Rafe: No, it couldn't have been Adam. He couldn't have gone out into the woods and cut the head off of that statue. He can't see.
Nikki: He could have if he had help. Now who knows what kind of contacts he made in prison, and he lied to me.
Rafe: About what?
Nikki: When Victor was out of town, I stopped by the house to check on Ashley. Adam said that she was out for the evening, but I found out later she was there the whole time.
Rafe: Well, that's definitely strange, but it's not necessarily incriminating.
Nikki: And the way he has wormed his way into Ashley's good graces... my God, she's even defending him now. It's ridiculous. And wait till you hear this-- the other day, Sabrina's voice boomed out of Adam's computer.
Rafe: What?
Nikki: Mm-hmm. He said, well, somebody must have done that to make him look bad. But what the hell else is he gonna say?
Rafe: When Victor asked for my fingerprints and Aunt Estella's fingerprints, he also asked for Adam’s. Is that why?
Nikki: Yes.
Rafe: So Victor doesn't trust him completely, either.
Nikki: Of course not, after the way Adam tried to frame him over that diary... now you tell me, Rafe. You defended him in that forgery case. Do you really think it's not possible that Adam would gaslight Ashley to serve his own purposes?
Victor: Does this place look familiar to you?
Mary Jane: Well, you've seen one tree, you've seen 'em all.
Victor: Mm-hmm. What about the statue that used to be here?
Mary Jane: What statue?
Victor: There was a statue of my former wife and my unborn child, and it was viciously mutilated.
Mary Jane: And-- and you suspect me? (Scoffs) Victor, why would I do something like that?
[Adam overhears the conversation]
Victor: Mary Jane, you listen to me. I brought you here for one reason, and for one reason only. You keep your eye on Jack Abbott. That's all you do. You got that?
Jack: Promise me you'll think about what I said.
Noah: Tell my parents I had to take off.
Jack: You've got it.
Noah: Thanks.
Sharon: Thank you. Um, that was the nurse, and the test results are in, so she wants to see us.
Nick: When?
Sharon: Um, as soon as we can get there.
Nick: So how'd it go with Noah?
Jack: Well, he calmed down. I think I got through to him on a few things. Listen, I know you're hoping Nick's the father. I hope you get your wish.
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Billy: What about you and Raul? Do you love him?
Mac: Yeah, just not--
Billy: Not like you love me.
Nick: And the paternity?
Sharon: It's in the envelope that she gave me.
Nick: We'll open it together.
Adam: I have feelings. Don't you?
