Nikki: And to think, I owe it all to a bridal bouquet and the power of suggestion.

Paul: (Chuckles) You and Katherine had the whole thing planned, didn't you?

Nikki: Oh, yes, we plotted and planned, and you fell right for it. (Chuckles)

Paul: Well, there has never been a more willing victim.

Nikki: (Giggles)

Paul: Oh, um, I should warn you, Nicholas knows.

Nikki: Oh, don't tell me you went to him for his blessing.

Paul: No. I had the ring out, and, uh, he saw it. But he's a pretty cool dude.

Nikki: (Chuckles)

Paul: He's happy for us.

Nikki: Yeah. So is Katherine, who, by the way, saw you get down on one knee.

Paul: So I guess the word's getting out. Maybe we should tell the rest of the troops, huh?

Nikki: Mm.

Paul: Heather, Victoria.

Nikki: Victor.

Paul: Victor?

Nikki: Well, I don't think he should hear it through the grapevine. Do you mind?

Paul: No. It's thoughtful... more thoughtful than he's ever been with you.

Nikki: (Chuckles) (Sighs)

Heather: Hi.

Victoria: Hello.

Heather: You getting a workout in?

Victoria: Uh, yeah, that's the plan.

Heather: Good. Good.

Victoria: Don't let me keep you from Adam.

Heather: Hmm. Victoria, I know, uh--

Victoria: You know, I'm surprised that you got back together with him after he lied to you and he used you and he nearly destroyed your career.

Heather: Well, there is such a thing as forgiveness, and I'm not the only one reaching out to him. Your father's reaching out to him, as well. Maybe even you will someday, too.

Victoria: (Chuckles) That's very unlikely. You see, Adam can't be trusted. And if you and he are together, then the same applies to you.

Abby: Busted.

Ashley: What?

Abby: You're not supposed to be working, remember?

Ashley: I'm taking it easy. See? This is me taking it easy.

Abby: Kind of hard to do with all the weirdness going on around here.

Ashley: Mm. Well, now that Estella's gone, that is over.

Abby: Do you really think Estella's the one who planted all that stuff of Sabrina’s?

Ashley: Well, I didn't want to believe it, but who else could it be?

Abby: Adam.

Ashley: Honey.

Abby: Mom, he's so creepy.

Ashley: He's practically blind.

Abby: He could be faking.

Ashley: Honey, not according to the eye specialist that confirmed it. Besides, when I heard that baby crying, it was coming from outside. Adam has that ankle bracelet, which means he's confined to the house. So I think you're just gonna have to cross Adam off your list of suspects.

Adam: (Groans) (Sighs)

Ashley: It was not the wind in the trees.

Estella: Could it have been an animal?

Adam: There's a lot of those around.

Ashley: I know the difference between an animal and a baby.

Jeff: You promised me a check. Where is it? (Scoffs) Don't give me that. I haven't left this room in two days. Just get me the check now.

Jill: (Groans)

Gloria: Jill.

Jill: Gloria.

Gloria: What are you doing in the Caymans?

Jill: My accountant called me.

Gloria: (Snickers) You have money at the Caribbean bank of Corozal, too?

Jill: (Sighs) Yes, and only a couple of hours to get it out. There's a jet chartered, waiting to take me to Cane's wedding.

Gloria: Mm. Well, good luck. We've been here for two days. But then, we have lots of accounts. You probably only have--

Jill: Everything?

Gloria: What?

Jill: All of my holdings, every dime.

Gloria: Really? Maybe we can help.

Jill: Oh, please.

Gloria: Oh, all right. Suit yourself. Jeffrey has a friend at the bank who's cashing us out. Just thought he might be able to do the same for you.

Estella: Thank you, Abby.

Abby: Oh, please don't cry.

Estella: It's very hard to be accused of such awful things.

Abby: Mom's just scared right now 'cause of the baby. You understand.

Victor: Estella?

Estella: Uh, I'm here for the rest of my things.

Victor: My sweetheart, um, the driver will take you to your sister, all right?

Abby: Okay. Bye, Dad.

Victor: Bye, Sweetheart. Okay. Have a good time.

Abby: Bye, Estella.

Estella: Bye-bye. I've spoken to the staff...

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Estella: And they know where to reach me with any questions. The ferrier will be here to shoe Blue Smoke at 4:00.

Victor: Estella. Estella, you don't have to worry about those things anymore, all right? You'll be kept very busy--

Adam: (Grunts) Don't mind me.

Victor: (Sighs)

Estella: At least tell me you don't believe these awful things.

Victor: Estella, what I believe is irrelevant right now. But this tension between you and Ashley cannot go on. It's not good for her, nor for the baby.

Estella: I'd never wish the baby...

Victor: Of course you don’t.

Estella: Any harm.

Victor: Of course you don’t. I understand that. But I think it's best if you stay away for a while, until I ask you to come back, all right?

Estella: This has been my home for so many years.

Victor: I understand that. But just wait a little while. Then things will be resolved.

Estella: But how can they be resolved when they're all in her head?

Victor: Estella, please. I understand.

Estella: I know you don't want to believe that.

Victor: Please go now. I'll see you at the office, all right?

Estella: Yes, Sir.

Victor: (Sighs)

Colleen: Sharon's moved back in before.

Jack: But this time, it's for good.

Colleen: So you've worked through all your issues?

Jack: Well, we will always have issues, but what binds us together is more important than any of that.

Colleen: Good. Well, I'm happy for you.

Jack: Well, thanks. So tell me about you. You said you had news.

Colleen: Yes, well, unfortunately, Victor's gonna buy Savaneur.

Jack: With the board's approval?

Colleen: Yeah. I thought I had it in the bag, but it was Victoria's pet project, and no one can say no to her, least of all daddy. It's gonna double Newman's fragrance line, Uncle Jack.

Jack: If it goes through.

Colleen: You think you can still stop it?

Jack: Oh, I can try. Make a few calls.

Colleen: Okay, well, if you need my help, I-I have Lily's wedding, but--

Jack: Don't you worry. I'll handle Victor.

Jeff: Oh, thank you very much.

(Laughs)

Gloria: All right, what's going on?

Jeff: Uh, a buddy of mine smuggled some assets out of the bank before the auditor got there, enough to cover all our accounts, all the shares of Jabot we bought before the takeover.

Gloria: Thank you, God! You are a genius. (Chuckles)

Jill: What about mine?

Jeff: Oh, I'm sorry. We set this in motion days ago.

Jill: Oh, my God. I'm too late. It's gone. It's all gone. God hates me.

Jeff: What?

Jill: I sheltered my assets. I didn't pay my taxes.

Jeff: Oh, ho. That's crazy. If God didn't want you hiding money, why'd he invent loopholes or congressmen?

Gloria: (Snorts)

Jeff: Listen, why--just-- you still own half the-- the mansion. Why don't you sell that to Katherine?

Jill: (Scoffs)

Jeff: That's a pretty good nest egg right there.

Jill: Never, never, never, never will I sell my half of the mansion. That's exactly what she wants me to do.

(Knocks on stool)

Paul: Sit down. Brace yourself.

Heather: Okay. Okay.

Paul: Your old man's getting married.

Heather: Wow.

Paul: Exactly. Wow.

Heather: Wow. Congratulations. That's incredible. There must be something in the air.

Paul: Why? Is somebody else getting hitched?

Heather: I mean, nothing's-- nothing's--nothing's definite, but Adam and I have-- I told you we've been spending some more time together.

Paul: You told me you were talking to him.

Heather: (Clears throat) We're more than talking. We're back together.

Paul: Have you lost your mind?

Heather: (Sighs)

(Baby cries)

Ashley: You heard it, too?

Adam: Yeah, that was weird.

Ashley: Where was it coming from?

Adam: I don't know.

(Front door closes)

(Footsteps approach)

Ashley: Somebody just came in through the front door.

Adam: A-all right. That's Victor. I can tell his footsteps.

Ashley: Victor! Victor!

Adam: Ashley, calm down. It's okay.

Ashley: Victor, is that you? Victor, I need you! Hi.

Victor: What happened?

Ashley: I heard that-- the baby crying again, but this time, Adam heard it, too.

Adam: Uh, I heard something. Yeah, I-I mean, I-it could have been a baby.

Ashley: Well, we need to search the house. We have to find out where it was coming from.

Adam: I can't help with that. Sorry.

Ashley: But at least you heard it. You heard it, too. I'm so grateful. Thank you so much.

Victor: Let's go to the bedroom.

Ashley: Look, what I don't understand is I thought Estella was responsible for all of this, but if she's gone, then who's--who's doing this?

Victor: (Sighs) Estella was just downstairs.

Ashley: Has she lost her mind? How could she be doing this when she knows that we're on to her? She must be losing her mind.

Victor: Sweetheart, please calm down right now.

Ashley: No, I can't calm down, Victor. I have to search the house. I want to find out where it's coming from. Now you can either come with me, or I'm gonna do it myself.

Victor: I will have the house searched. Don't you worry about it, all right?

Ashley: Okay.

Victor: You stay up here or on the couch downstairs. Is that clear?

Ashley: Yes.

Victor: Okay.

Ashley: Sorry.

Jack: So you withdraw your opposition. You let Victor and Victoria know you are in full support.

Colleen: Uncle Jack, they'll know it's B.S.

Jack: Of course they will. It'll also show them you know how to play the game.

(Cell phone rings)

Jack: Excuse me.

Colleen: Uh, I gotta go meet Abby.

Jack: Ooh, I gotta take this.

Colleen: Okay.

Jack: Marty, can you hold on a second? Yeah. Uh, you have a great wedding. Give Lily my best. Thanks.

Colleen: Bye.

Jack: Marty, you still there? All right. I'm still there. Uh-huh.

Colleen: Hey, Victoria.

Victoria: Colleen.

Colleen: So good to see you. I was gonna call you today and congratulate you.

Victoria: Oh, on what?

Colleen: Uh, the merger with Savaneur. You must be very excited.

Victoria: I'm surprised you are. I mean, you were so opposed to it at the board meeting.

Colleen: You know, I had some issues with it, but the decision's been made, and I want you to know that you have my full support.

Victoria: Were you discussing this with Jack?

Colleen: (Sighs) That would be very unprofessional.

Victoria: Yes. (Sighs) Yes, it would be.

Colleen: You know, my uncle and I have a lot more to talk about then--

Victoria: Please, Colleen. Don't insult my intelligence, all right? It's bad enough that he's insulting yours.

Colleen: What are you talking about?

Victoria: He's using you, Colleen. And for some reason, you're okay with that. You know, some of us have had to work very hard to be taken seriously.

Colleen: Okay, first of all, you're where you are because Daddy handed it to you on a silver platter, and if you think people are taking you seriously, Victoria, instead of sucking up, you're the one being played.

Victoria: (Sighs)

Adam: Yes.

Adam: (Grunts) All right.

Victor: Why don't I make you some tea, my darling?

Ashley: No, I don't need tea. And I want everybody in on this search, please, including the kitchen staff.

Victor: Okay.

Adam: You want to get the staff to help?

Victor: Sweetheart, I want you to stay down here and rest, okay? We'll take care of things, all right?

Ashley: Okay.

Adam: I'll keep you company.

Victor: I appreciate that. Thank you, Adam.

Ashley: Thanks.

Adam: You okay, Ashley?

Ashley: No. I'm kind of jumpy.

Adam: Yeah, sure. I mean, I would imagine with what you've been through.

Ashley: I can't tell you how grateful I am that you heard it, too. I was starting to think that I was imagining things. I kind of feel like Victor is, too, you know?

Adam: Now come on. I doubt that. Listen, uh, while we have a minute, I gotta thank you.

Ashley: For what?

Adam: Heather. You talked Victor into letting her come over and visit.

Ashley: No, he knows how special she is to you, Adam.

Adam: (Scoffs) Yeah, right. Come on, now. You know that's your idea. It wasn't his. And I'm very grateful. Thank you very much. Heather's the only friend I have in the world.

Ashley: She's not your only friend.

Adam: (Sighs)

Heather: You know, I-I don't even know why I keep trying.

Paul: Me, either.

Heather: I don't mean with Adam. I mean with you. I mean, you say you want me in your life. I-I'm sitting here. I'm telling you about my life--

Paul: I just don't want to see you get hurt again. Don't you--

Heather: (Stammers) This--this hurts. This hurts. You sitting here talking to me like I'm an idiot.

Paul: Okay, then just tell me this. Why? What's the appeal? The guy is-- is full of hate. He's destructive.

Heather: (Sighs) Look, I--he went-- he went crazy for a little bit. He did. But his life has completely changed since then.

Paul: Oh, I see. So wh-what is it, the blindness? You feel sorry for him?

Heather: No, I don't feel sorry for him. But in a strange way, I think the blindness was a blessing because now he gets it. I mean, all that really matters...

Paul: Oh.

Heather: Are--are-- are the people that come in when everything else goes to hell.

Paul: So you think he's gonna stand by you when everything else goes to hell?

Heather: Yes, he's actually very protective of me.

Paul: I see.

Heather: Look, I'm not asking for your approval.

Paul: Heather, it would be one thing if the guy were just immature, or if he were just selfish. But I'm telling you, the guy is dangerous.

Jill: Look, my son is getting married tomorrow, okay? You can't leave me stranded here. I don't give a damn. You get me on another flight, now!

Gloria: What happened?

Jill: (Sighs) The charter company had their money in that same bank. All of their assets have been seized, as well, including the plane that was supposed to take me back home.

Jeff: Well, we'll get you home.

Gloria: Yeah, sure we will.

Jeff: Yeah, and we'll loan you enough money to make a new start.

Gloria: We will?

Jeff: Partners look out for each other.

Jill: Oh, my God. That's so kind of you.

Gloria: It certainly is.

(Knock on door)

Jeff: Yeah?

Man: Delivery for Jeffrey Bardwell?

Jeff: Aha, that's me. Let me have that.

Jeff: There you go.

Man: Okay.

Jeff: What'd I tell you?

Gloria: Aah! (Laughs)

Jeff: (Chuckles)

Gloria: Give me that. Give me that, give me that. Ooh! Oh! Oh! Oh, it's here. It is. (Gasps) It's all here!

Jeff: Now wait a minute. Wait a minute. Yeah, okay. Mine, too. Mine, too.

(Laughs)

Gloria: Aah! You're a genius. You're brilliant!

(Making kissing sounds)

(Laughs)

Jeff: You'll never doubt me again, will you?

Gloria: Oh, Honey, I would have lost everything I had left.

Jeff: You'll always have me, baby. (Chuckles)

Gloria: Oh, goody.

Jill: Oh, God, I'm ruined! (Sighs)

Jeff: Well, you're just gonna have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off--

Jill: Oh, stop it, Jeffrey. That's easy for you to say. You got all your money back. I can't even pay for the flight home.

Jeff: I told you, I'd take care of that. Look, you-- you're gonna fly first class with Gloria and me. We'll drink champagne all the way home. And then when you sober up, we'll figure out what your next move is.

Gloria: Can we please get out of here?

(Knock on door)

Jeff: (Groans)

Gloria: (Groans)

Jeff: Yep?

Man: Mr. Bardwell?

Jeff: Yes?

Mr. Ebanks: I'm the hotel manager Mr. Ebanks. I'm sorry to tell you, but there was a problem with your credit card.

Jeff: Oh, right. Yeah. The Caribbean bank of Corozal. It's okay, I'll-- I'll be paying cash, and, um, I'll be paying for Mrs. Abbott's room, too. Come on in. Come on in.

Mr. Ebanks: Very good, Sir. Will you be coming down to take care of that now?

Jeff: Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just as soon as I, uh, deposit this check.

Mr. Ebanks: May I see that check, Sir?

Jeff: Sure.

Mr. Ebanks: This is no good.

Jeff: Whoa, whoa, no. (Laughs) What are you talking about? Of course it's--

Mr. Ebanks: These checks are all over the island. There's nothing to back them.

Jeff: No, no, no. I've got a friend, see, and he--

Mr. Ebanks: I'm telling you, Sir. There's no bank in the world that would cash that check.

Gloria: Oh, dear God.

Mr. Ebanks: Do you have another credit card?

Jeff: Uh, yeah. Yeah. Um, sure. Absolutely. I-I'll be, uh, be right down.

Mr. Ebanks: Very good, Sir. We'll be waiting.

Jeff: (Sighs)

Gloria: What happened to your friend?

Jeff: Give me the phone here.

Jill: How am I gonna get to the wedding now?

Gloria: Who the hell cares?

Victor: We have searched the entire house.

Ashley: You didn't find where the sound was coming from?

Victor: We found absolutely nothing.

Ashley: Did you look in Estella's room?

Victor: Of course.

Ashley: I wasn't the only one that heard it this time.

Victor: Sweetheart, you said that. I know so.

Ashley: Okay, so do you believe us? You do.

Victor: Of course I do, all right? Would you mind making me a cup of tea?

Ashley: Okay. I'll make it for all of us. I'll be right back.

Adam: Poor Ashley.

Victor: You said you heard the baby crying, as well, right?

Adam: Uh, yeah. It could have been.

Victor: What do you mean "Could have been"? Didn't you say that you heard what Ashley heard?

Adam: I said I heard something. She said she heard a baby crying. Uh, I mean, you know, the noise, it probably came from somewhere closer to your room than mine. Um, she would know. Why? You're--you're not doubting her, are you?

Victor: No.

Adam: Good. She needs your support. It's a hell of a thing to have to go through.

Victor: It certainly is. You're concerned about her, aren't you?

Adam: She's been good to me.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Adam: She doesn't deserve this.

(Knock on door)

Victor: Excuse me.

Victor: Yes?

Man: Laundry service.

Victor: Oh, okay. Come in. Right here. Thank you.

Man: Let me give you a hand.

Victor: All right.

Man: Um, I'll have this back to you tomorrow.

Victor: Thank you. I appreciate it.

Nikki: Excuse me.

Man: Sorry.

Victor: Oh. How are you doing?

Nikki: May I come in?

Victor: Of course you may. So what brings you by?

Nikki: Well, I have news, big news.

Victor: Oh.

Jack: Well, thank you. It's good to be back at Jabot. Yes, all is right with the world. Okay, talk to you soon.

Victoria: Why isn't that enough for you?

Jack: Victoria.

Victoria: You know, as long as I've known you, it's what you've wanted-- to be the king of Jabot. And now you are. So what the hell is wrong with you that that's not enough?

Jack: Wherever is this coming from?

Victoria: You know, just because we can't prove what you're up to doesn't mean that we don't know, Jack. You're still out to get my father, and now you're using your own niece to do it. It's really sickening.

Jack: I think you're a little confused, Sweetheart. It's the Newmans that eat their young, not the Abbotts.

Victoria: No, Jack, this is totally your M.O. You saw Colleen grieving, and you thought, how can I use this to my advantage? The sad part is, she actually thinks that you're looking out for her. But I guess one of these days, she's gonna catch on. (Sighs) They all will. All of the people that you've used and abused and all the twisted little games you've played, it's all gonna come back, and it's gonna bite you on the ass. And I just hope to God I'm there to see it when it does.

Nikki: Sorry to interrupt.

Adam: No, that's all right. We'll finish later.

Victor: (Sighs) So what's this news?

Nikki: Well... (Sighs) Nothing that will impact you directly, but people are starting to find out, and I thought you should hear it from me. Paul proposed, and I said yes.

Victor: Hmm. I'll be damned. Thank you for telling me. The children know?

Nikki: Nicholas does. I'm telling Victoria later today.

Victor: Mm-hmm. Well, I'm sure they'll be pleased.

Nikki: I hope so.

Victor: Well, thank you for coming here and telling me personally.

Nikki: Well, I thought it was the right thing to do.

Victor: Yeah. Well...

Nikki: I'll let you get back to your business.

Victor: Nikki?

Victor: Good luck.

Nikki: Thank you, Victor.

Victor: (Sighs)

Adam: You still there, Victor?

Victor: Yeah, I'm still here.

Adam: Uh, listen, uh, I want to apologize for earlier.

Victor: That's all right.

Adam: I-I shouldn't have let Ashley think that I heard what she heard. (Sighs) How do I explain this? She just seemed so upset, and I don't know. It seemed really important to her having an ally, you know? I mean, she's been that for me. I meant well.

Victor: I'm sure you did. Uh, you're concerned for her, and--and I appreciate that.

Adam: Uh, well, you know, I'm--I'm glad I can help. I know how much this baby means to both of you. You know, it means a lot to me, too, honestly. I blew it with my brother and sister first go-around, and I don't know, maybe this is a second chance, you know, to kind of do right by the family.

Victor: Yeah, maybe this is a second chance, indeed. We can start-- start over again. I'd--I'd like that, all right?

Jeff: That's impossible. I just spoke to him. He sent me a check. Wait, wait, wait. Do not hang up on me. Do not--

Gloria: What is happening?

Jeff: (Sighs heavily) The bastard left town when the bank collapsed.

Gloria: With all of our assets?

Jeff: There were no assets. The bank's main creditor called in his loan. They couldn't meet the margin.

Gloria: I don't know what that means, Jeffrey.

Jill: It means you're screwed.

Gloria: Why did you use this bank? Why didn't you do some research?

Jeff: Well, you used this bank, too. Besides, I did research. I thought it was safe. It had Victor Newman behind it.

Jill: What?

Jeff: Yeah, he's one of their largest investors.

Jill: Why didn't you tell me this before? You idiot! Oh!

Gloria: (Sighs)

Jill: (Whispers) Not one peep out of you.

Jeff: No, no. You--you've got the history.

Gloria: Yeah. He respects you.

Jill: (Scoffs) Yeah. Okay.

(Telephone rings)

Victor: Hello?

Jill: (Normal voice) Victor. (Chuckles) It's Jill Abbott.

Victor: Jill, how the hell are you?

Jill: I've been better. Listen, I'm on Grand Cayman island with, um, Gloria and Jeff. The Bardwells and I had very significant holdings in the Caribbean bank of Corozal.

Victor: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

Jill: Um, the thing is that these people won't return any of our calls, much less our money, Victor, so I thought as one of their major investors--

Victor: Uh, no, I'm not.

Jill: You're not one of their backers?

Victor: No, I-I pulled out my money.

Jill: You pulled-- you caused the bank to collapse?

Victor: The bank was on the way down, so I made a business decision, that's all.

Jill: Had I known--

Victor: But I'm sorry that you got hurt.

Jill: I'm not hurt. I am devastated, Victor. I've lost everything, literally everything, and so have the Bardwells. Y-you--you have to help us.

Victor: Jill, this is not my responsibility.

Jill: The hell it isn’t.

Victor: Good-bye. You have a nice day.

Jill: Don't you hang up on us!

Jeff: Uh, Victor, wait! Hey, hey, hey, hey!

Gloria: Aah!

Jill: Don't you--

Ashley: It's gonna be difficult for you, isn't it?

Victor: What is, Sweetheart?

Ashley: Firing Estella.

Victor: (Sighs)

Ashley: I know she's been with you a long time.

Victor: But she's no longer around, so, um, you don't have her to worry about anymore.

Ashley: You're still planning on firing her, though, right?

Victor: Why would I do that?

Ashley: How can you say that?

Victor: Sweetheart, we don't have any clear evidence.

Ashley: (Stammers) What kind of evidence do you need? She is the one constant in this whole mess. Everything that's happened in this house, Victor, she's been here. She's never had an alibi.

Victor: Ashley, I understand that. But there's no clear evidence.

Ashley: Then how can you say this to--no clear evidence?

Victor: No.

Ashley: How can you say that?

Victor: What do you mean, how can I say that?

Ashley: What more do you need?

Victor: We have not caught her setting up these things. I have no clear evidence. Do you understand? I don't want you to get this upset. I'm concerned about you. Please.

Ashley: I know you are.

Victor: Okay? Will you please lie down? I'm concerned, my love. Come on. I'll be upstairs in a moment, all right?

Ashley: Okay.

Victor: (Sighs)

Heather: So where do you want to go when you get out of here?

Adam: It doesn't really matter.

Heather: Yes, it does, especially if I'm going to be looking for a new job.

Adam: Wait. I thought you were, uh, talking about a vacation.

Heather: Mnh-mnh. I think we need a fresh start, go somewhere where no one knows us.

Adam: I-I can't ask you to give up your life here, Honey.

Heather: But you, uh, you already did. You asked me to run away with you, and I wish that I had.

Adam: No, you don't mean that.

Heather: I do.

Adam: No, you don’t.

Heather: Yes, I do. I very much do.

Adam: (Sighs)

Heather: What?

Adam: Look, I want to make something clear, all right? We are not running away together.

Heather: But I--

Adam: No. No. Look, I won't do that to you, so you just forget about it.

Victoria: Oh.

Nikki: "Oh"?

Victoria: Oh, I just-- I didn't realize that you and Paul were talking marriage.

Nikki: We weren’t. I was almost as surprised as you are. But it feels so right.

Victoria: Well... (Clears throat) Mom, sometimes things feel right for the wrong reason.

Nikki: Okay, I know what you're suggesting.

Victoria: Oh, uh, I-I think Paul's great, and I've been-- I've been really happy for you two. It's just that I know what it's done to you to see Dad with Ashley and the baby on the way.

Nikki: That's not what this is about. Believe me, I have asked myself the same questions that you're asking.

Victoria: I think the most important question is, would you have said yes to Paul if Dad were available?

Adam: (Sighs) Heather, I have nothing-- nothing to offer you.

Heather: That is not true. Okay, that's-- that's not true. And even if it were, it doesn't matter, because being with you is enough for me.

Adam: O-okay, not for me. If I--if I can't offer anything positive in your life, then I--

Heather: Don't say that.

Adam: Right. 'Cause everybody wants to date an unemployed, disabled ex-con.

Heather: Oh, Sweetie, stop. Look, okay? That's not who you are at all.

Adam: Uh, look, Heather, don't go making any big plans for our future, okay? 'Cause I can't promise there is one.

Heather: Okay. Okay, no big plans. How about, um, just-- just one small suggestion?

Adam: (Sighs)

Heather: Maybe how we could spend the next couple hours...

Adam: (Chuckles)

Abby: Oh, and I keep meaning to tell you, the money that I asked for from Dad's trust?

Colleen: Yeah, to fly the horse trainer in from the Hamptons? Yeah, I spoke to the accountant today, and you will have the money this week.

Abby: Actually, it's okay. Victor took care of it.

Colleen: Really?

Abby: Yeah, well, the horse is from him, so it's all just part of the same gift.

Colleen: Okay, Abby, you realize what he's doing, don't you?

Abby: Spoiling me rotten?

Colleen: (Scoffs) No, trying to buy your forgiveness for the way he treated Dad.

Abby: Do you really think I'm that shallow?

Colleen: No, but Victor obviously does.

Abby: Maybe he just likes to make me happy. He's making up for lost time.

Colleen: Okay.

Abby: I live with him, so I think I know him a little bit better than you.

Colleen: Abby, you see what he wants you to see, okay?

Abby: Are you seriously planning to hold this grudge for, like, the rest of your life?

Colleen: And then some.

Jack: We think alike. It's the only way to run a company. You look out for your own people first. You've always done that at Savaneur, and I respect that. Well, that's a legitimate concern. Victor has both of his kids working for him now. They're always looking for new toys to play with. I think Victoria has her eye on your job. And what if I was to tell you I could make you a better offer, one where you and your top execs all come along for the ride, where everyone wins?

Jill: He flushes my life savings down the toilet and calls it a "Business decision."

Gloria: Damn you, Victor Newman.

Jeff: We don't even have a way to get home.

Jill: My son's getting married tomorrow. I will not get stuck on this Godforsaken island.

Nikki: You know, when I was talking to your father today, I realized later that the whole time, I was practically holding my breath, steeling myself for his reaction.

Victoria: You thought he'd be upset?

Nikki: Well, I didn't know how he would respond. That's your father, you know? Is he gonna be kind? Is he gonna lash out? Is he gonna ignore you, or are you gonna be the center of his universe? He's just unpredictable.

Victoria: (Chuckles)

Nikki: (Slaps hands on lap) And when I was younger, I found that sort of thing exciting, kind of like Las Vegas playing roulette.

Victoria: It's different with Paul?

Nikki: Oh, it's so different. The excitement with Paul is knowing exactly what I'm gonna get. I know how I'm gonna feel when I'm with him.

Victoria: You know, I don't doubt for one second that your feelings are real for Paul. I just wonder if it's enough to pull you out of Dad's orbit.

Paul: Hi.

Nikki: Hi, baby.

Paul: How's my timing?

Nikki: Your timing is perfect. I was just sharing our news with Victoria.

Victoria: I-I'm so pleased for both of you. Congratulations.

Paul: Thank you. (Chuckles)

Victoria: (Laughs)

Victor: I love you so much.

Ashley: I love you, too.

Victor: To know that you're carrying our child makes me very happy.

Ashley: Me, too.

Victor: (Sighs) Nikki was here earlier.

Ashley: Oh, yeah?

Victor: Mm-hmm. Told me that she had gotten engaged.

Ashley: Wow. Paul's not wasting any time.

Victor: Mnh-mnh.

Ashley: Good for him.

Victor: Paul is a nice man.

Ashley: So you approve? Mm, you don't approve.

Victor: Well, he's a nice guy. He's reliable.

Ashley: Oh.

Victor: He's a safe choice.

Ashley: I see. You don't really think Nikki loves him.

Victor: You may think this is my ego talking, but I know damn well that Nikki has a tendency to rush into a relationship when she finds out that I'm happy with someone else.

Ashley: Thank you.

Victor: For what?

Ashley: Thank you for telling me this because it shows me that you don't think I'm threatened by the other women you've loved, Nikki or Sabrina. Thank you.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Billy: Just leave me alone. I'm happy here. This is the only place anymore that I am happy.

Jack: Really?

Mary Jane: This is Nicholas Newman's assistant. I am looking for a Sharon Abbott.
