Jill: Where did you come from?
Cane: Ahh. Would you believe I had a meeting?
Jill: No.
Cane: (Sighs) All right, I saw how upset you were last night.
Jill: Honey, it is a brand-new day, okay? It's a big day for you, too. You should be concentrating on that, not worrying about my problems.
Cane: Mm.
(Sighs)
Jill: So what time is Cordelia's custody hearing this afternoon?
Cane: 3:15.
Jill: Mm.
Cane: Michael thinks I have a real shot, and I'm confident that I convinced the judge that, uh, I am the best man to raise this little girl.
Jill: Well, I hope things go your way.
Cane: Thank you. Thank you. But if it doesn't, Mom, I just don't know how I could ever stop thinking of her as my daughter.
Jill: Mm. I have someone who could help you with that.
Mac: (Laughs) If someone saw us sitting out here, they'd think we'd taken a vow of silence.
Kay: (Scoffs) A vow of silence? Oh, God. I wish I'd have thought about that last night.
Mac: That's right. You said your conversation with Jill didn't go so well.
Kay: I don't know what I was expecting-- a miracle, I suppose.
Mac: Well, you try to be logical and explain things to someone how you really feel, and it's like they're listening on some other program, on some other channel.
Kay: Mm-hmm. And undoubtedly, it's a rerun.
Mac: Yeah, from six years ago.
Kay: So what channel is Master William stuck on these days?
Billy: (Sighs) I, uh...
(Bell chimes)
Cordelia: (Crying)
Chloe: (Groans) You get her. You get her. I got her last time.
Cordelia: (Crying)
Billy: (Sighs)
Cordelia: (Continues crying)
Billy: (Sighs)
Karen: So once we're through in court today, there's a very good chance that Neil and I will officially be your parents.
Neil: What do you think about that, Ana?
Ana: I've never really had a dad before.
Karen: You know what? You will now. I can't wait for us to be a family.
Ana: Will my mom be at the adoption hearing?
Karen: You know, uh, Tyra knows that it's happening today, so I imagine she'll be there, yeah.
[Neil remembering]
Rafael: I can get the hearing postponed.
Neil: No, listen to me, I am willing to do this, provided that Tyra can present her own petition.
Rafael: Now hold on.
Neil: You don't-- you don't think she has a stake in this?
Devon: Hey, Squirt. Ready to take off?
Ana: Yeah, let me just finish this one last line.
Neil: How's it going, Son?
Devon: Fine.
Karen: Um... (Sighs) Thanks for keeping Ana with you today. I really appreciate it.
Devon: Yeah, of course, no problem. Have you figured out where you want to hang out while they're, uh, in court?
Ana: Crimson Lights.
Devon: Crimson Lights? Works for me.
Neil: Hey, just make sure you have your cell phone turned on, okay?
Devon: I will.
Karen: Okay, here we go.
Ana: Okay.
Karen: All right, Sweetie. I'll see you later. You want to give me a hug for good luck?
Ana: Okay. Yes.
Karen: Okay. There you go. Don't forget that.
Ana: Oh, thank you.
Karen: Okay, bye.
Devon: You ready?
Ana: Yeah.
Devon: Let's go.
Neil: See you.
Karen: (Sighs)
Devon: Bye.
Karen: Look, Honey, let's go out, okay? Just the three of us. You know, our--our first dinner as an official family. We could, um, have Chinese-- Ana's favorite?
Neil: Yeah, maybe. Let's--let's just see how it goes, all right?
(Footsteps approach)
Victoria: Hey, Neil? Uh, Dad's in the conference room, and he would like to speak to you about Beauty of Nature.
Neil: Sure. Excuse me.
Karen: Oh, Honey, we're riding together to court, right?
Neil: Uh, that's the plan.
Karen: Okay.
Victoria: So today's the big day, huh?
Karen: (Sighs) Yep.
Victoria: That's funny, you're not as excited as I thought you would be.
Victor: I hope you got the e-mail regarding the meeting. I want the board of directors to sign off on the expanded fragrance line. Did you hear me?
Neil: Hmm? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, sign off on the fragrance expanded line. Yeah. Victor, I'm sorry, I'm a little, uh, distracted. The adoption hearing is in less than an hour.
Victor: Well, congratulations.
Neil: Thank you. Thank you very much.
Victor: Why don't you take the day off and celebrate?
Neil: Well, I don't really feel much like celebrating, Victor. I gotta be honest with you, things have gotten a little complicated recently.
Victor: I'm sorry to hear that.
Neil: Me, too. The truth is, no matter what the court decides, somebody's gonna get hurt.
(Papers rustle)
Victor: Huh. Who's gonna get hurt?
Tyra: Hey, Lily. Look, if you don't want to speak to me, I understand.
Lily: That might be for the best.
Tyra: Look, your father and I made a mistake.
Lily: When is that? The last time you slept together, or when you went behind Karen's back to hire a lawyer?
Tyra: (Sighs) Neil is the only one that understands how much I ache not being with my daughter. It's like... it's like a piece of me is missing.
Lily: Tyra, does Ana even know what you're planning to do? That you're hoping to adopt her yourself?
Tyra: Look, it's a long shot, okay? So I don't want to confuse her, you know?
Ana: Mom?
Tyra: Hi, Baby, come here. Oh, hi.
Ana: Hi. I made this poem for you. It's about how great of a mom you are.
Tyra: Oh, Honey. Oh, "To Tyra."
Lily: Why didn't you tell me about her and Dad?
Devon: Lily, I wanted to, but I didn't know how.
Lily: I had to hear it from Karen, Devon. I just--I-I can't believe our dad, cheating on his wife?
Devon: Yeah, I know. It's messed up.
Tyra: Listen to me, no matter what happens today with the judge, I promise you, everything's gonna work out great, okay? And you're gonna have a wonderful family, just like Devon and Lily.
Ana: Will I ever see you again?
Tyra: Oh, Sweetheart, I-I'm sure we can make something happen.
Ana: Okay.
Tyra: Okay, come here.
Devon: You know, Neil and Karen would make great parents. But seeing Ana with Tyra like this, I mean, that's-- this is how it should be.
Karen: Uh, you know, before Ana, I'd really kind of given up on having kids. Now I'm about to have a teenager on my hands.
Victoria: Well, I wouldn't worry. I mean, Neil's been there. He'll get you through it. Karen, what's wrong? You seem down.
Karen: Do I?
Victoria: Well... I don't mean to pry...
Karen: Yeah. It should be a perfect day for us, huh?
Victoria: Why is it not?
Karen: You know, just... expectations. I guess they can kind of run away with you sometimes.
Victor: How could adopting that beautiful child be inevitable?
Neil: Well, Victor, both Karen and Tyra love that little girl very much. But only one of them can be her legal mother... which means, one of them is about to have her heart broken.
Victor: But how is that your fault?
Neil: I'm not proud of some of the decisions I've made recently. You know, I've acted kind of impulsively. I feel rather lousy about that.
Victor: Well, I can see that.
Neil: I've judged... people rather harshly recently for things that I'm guilty of. I don't know. Looking back... some of the things, some of the choices...
Victor: I bet you you think that some of those choices were inevitable, right?
Neil: Yeah. I certainly did.
Mac: Thanks again, Mark.
Kay: Well, that seemed like a nice young man.
Mac: He's the new assistant director of the homeless shelter. I was just helping out with grant applications.
Kay: Have I told you lately just how proud you make me?
Mac: I'm just trying to keep busy.
Kay: Well, all the grant applications in the world are not gonna take your mind off of Billy.
Mac: He belongs to someone else now, Grandma.
Kay: Hmm. Chloe. She's my goddaughter. And I'm--I'm fond of her, as I am of--of the baby.
Mac: I hear a "But" coming.
Kay: But in the very beginning, I knew that young lady had an agenda.
Cane: Excuse me. I've got this.
Jill: (Chuckles)
Cane: So have you heard from Katherine?
Jill: No. And I don't expect to, not since she kicked me out of Chancellor.
Cane: Mom, it's a huge blow for the company.
Jill: That is very sweet of you to say.
Cane: Listen, Katherine just got her memory back. Maybe in a couple of days...
Jill: No, listen to me, listen to me, Katherine never wanted me to run her precious company in the first place, okay? But once I move on to bigger and better things, she will realize what she threw away.
Cane: Do you have something else lined up?
Jill: I have a plan.
Cane: Oh?
Jill: I'll let you know when it's a done deal.
Kay: Even though it was a shotgun wedding, um, Jill insisted on an engagement party. So there we were talking to Cane and his bride-to-be. We had never met her. Enter Esther with a tray of champagne. I will never forget that crash as it hit the floor.
(Laughs)
Mac: That was when you realized that Chloe was Kate.
Kay: Yes. But I do remember this-- I knew then exactly what kind of person we were dealing with.
Mac: I think "Operator" was the word that you used.
Kay: Well, due to a lot of Chloe's hurt, she just makes bad choices.
Mac: That's sad that she's still hung up on that. But at least that beautiful little girl has a mother and father that love her, which is more than I can say for a lot of the children I worked with overseas.
Kay: Well, there's no doubt that Chloe and... Billy love that baby. And Billy did the right thing in marrying the child's mother because it allowed them to get custody. But I do believe the best thing a man can do for his children is to love their mother.
Billy: Well, now that Delia’s fed, maybe she'll sleep a little bit. I'm tempted to go back to sleep myself for a few minutes.
Chloe: So... you didn't tell me that Mac was staying in town.
Billy: Uh, I just found out yesterday.
Chloe: Yeah, my mom told me last night. How'd you find out?
Billy: I ran into her.
Chloe: (Clears throat) When?
Billy: (Sighs) Last night at the bookstore.
Chloe: You didn't think that it warranted a mention?
Billy: No. You were asleep when I got back. That reminds me, the books you wanted, they'll be ready today.
Chloe: Delia's nursery rhymes?
Billy: Yeah.
Chloe: (Clears throat)
Billy: Yeah, they're all crated up in the back or something.
Chloe: So you think that we're still gonna need them, yeah?
Billy: Of course, we're gonna need 'em.
Chloe: I-I don't know, I-I just--I can't stop thinking about what Rafe said. I mean, after everything that we've done, that Cane actually has a shot at winning custody? I mean, Billy, what are we gonna do if we lose our little girl?
Victor: Any progress on that assignment?
J.T.: I spoke to her last night. She still doesn't trust a word you say.
Victor: I want you to understand something. Colleen's opinion of me is utterly immaterial, okay? I want you to find something that enables me to pry her out of that board seat.
J.T.: Victor, you're asking me to dig up dirt on somebody who's never done anything wrong in her life. It's just--it's not there.
Victor: J.T., dig deeper. You'll find something, I assure you.
J.T.: Does Victoria know you're doing this?
Victor: Why are you asking me that question? Of course she doesn't, and I don't want you to say a word to her. You're the head of Newman security. Your job is to keep secrets, okay?
J.T.: All right.
(Knock on door)
Victor: Come in.
Victoria: Connie said you wanted to see me.
Victor: Yes, right now. Um, J.T. was just leaving.
J.T.: Yeah.
Victoria: Oh, hi.
J.T.: See you later.
Victoria: Bye. What's going on?
Victor: I just wanted you to know that, um...
Victoria: (Clears throat)
Victor: The fragrance line has been green-lit.
Victoria: That's great! That's--that's fantastic!
Victor: I thought you'd be pleased.
Victoria: I am. You know, rolling out is gonna cost a fortune, though. Doesn't the board need to approve it first?
Victor: My darling, the board will approve once they find out that... you are running it.
Victoria: Are you serious?
Victor: Yes.
Victoria: But I thought you wanted to handle that personally.
Victor: Sweetheart, you saw the opportunity before I did. I want you to run with it.
Victoria: Wow, um, but what about Neil? I mean, he's been working on this, too.
Victor: Neil is very preoccupied with some personal issues. I think he'll be grateful not to have this distraction.
Neil: Thank you.
Woman: Who's up first, Mr. Kampworth?
Mr. Kampworth: Neil and Karen Winters, petitioning to adopt the minor child Anastasia Hamilton.
Rafael: Rafael Torres for the petitioner, your honor.
Judge: Is the other petitioner present?
Karen: Other petitioner
Karen: (Whispers) Did you know about this? Were you responsible for this?
Judge: And you are?
Tyra: Tyra Hamilton, your honor.
Elizabeth: Elizabeth Gardner for the petitioner.
Judge: Very well. Please take your seats. I've read the petition filed by Mr. and Mrs. Winters, along with the social worker's reports and recommendation. Uh, Mr. Torres, um, is there anything you'd like to add?
Rafael: Indeed, your honor. My client, Neil Winters and his late Drucilla, fostered and then adopted Ana's older brother, Devon Hamilton, who now attends Genoa City University. Under their remarkable care and guidance, Devon went from being a group home resident with a police record, a long list of disciplinary problems, to an honors student in the space of a single year. Over the past several months, Neil and his wife Karen have provided a loving home for Ana, where she, too, is thriving, as evidenced by the reports your honor has before herself.
Judge: Mr. and Mrs. Winters, is it your intention to adopt Ana and raise her as your own child?
Neil: Abso--absolutely. Yes, your honor.
Karen: We want this more than anything.
Judge: You're to be commended on your generosity in bringing this child into your home. Given everything I've read, I will feel very comfortable in granting this petition, putting Ana into your permanent care and custody.
Karen: (Sighs)
Cane: (Laughs) I've been expecting you.
Kay: Oh?
Cane: After what happened to Mom.
Kay: No, uh, uh, hold it right there. I did not do a thing. It was Mitchell. He did it on his own, and I wasn't aware of it.
Cane: It was Mitchell?
Kay: I put him in charge of handling all the legalities of my return. Cane, he took it upon himself to oust your mother, thinking that that is what I wanted.
Cane: Well, then I was right. It was a misunderstanding. So I can explain this to mom, and then Mom can--
Kay: No, no, no. No, no, don’t. Please don't say a word to her. Things are rather tense between the two of us right now, and I, uh, I think we need to put some distance between us.
Jill: (Sighs) I thought you left town.
Mac: Well, hello to you, too, Jill.
Jill: You've seen your grandmother, kiss, kiss, hug, hug, back on the plane. That makes sense. And yet, here you are, all settled in. I have to ask, why is that?
Mac: Billy's unavailable. I get that.
Jill: Do you?
Mac: What do you want me to say, Jill? That if I see him coming down the street, I'll cross to the other side so there's no danger of us running into each other?
Jill: Mackenzie, just so you understand, Billy is completely off limits to you.
Mac: I'm not the one with the history of going after married men.
Chloe: I don't know, what does a fashion-forward baby wear to court these days?
Billy: Anything with the least amount of spit-up on it.
Chloe: I want her to wow the judge.
Billy: (Sighs) Honey, she looks adorable in anything. Just pick something.
Chloe: No. I can't just pick something. It has to be perfect, Billy. Which outfit says, "Hello, Judge, do not take me away from my mommy and daddy"?
Billy: Okay. Okay. That judge is gonna take one look at you holding Delia and realize that's where she belongs.
Chloe: Really? Really? And what if that doesn't work, Billy? What if?
Billy: Okay, Honey, just breathe, okay? No freak-outs. It's gonna be okay.
Chloe: Here, you finish-- you finish dressing her. I-I'll be right back.
Billy: What now? Where are you going? What--
Chloe: I gotta go somewhere.
Billy: Really?
(Door closes)
Billy: Oh, my God.
Judge: Ms. Hamilton? Uh, according to your petition, you were little more than a child yourself when you took charge of your sister's infant daughter.
Tyra: I was 15, Judge.
Elizabeth: May I speak on my client's behalf?
Judge: By all means.
Elizabeth: Yolanda Hamilton was a crack cocaine addict, who, more often than not, lived on the streets. She bore two children, both whom she neglected. When Ana came along, Tyra was determined not to let her suffer Devon's fate. She took on full responsibility for her little niece, at great personal sacrifice. She's been both mother and father to Ana the child's entire life. She has supported her financially and emotionally, making sure that her studies came first. Tyra recognized Ana's gift for music at a young age and encouraged and nurtured it. Ana is an exemplary child by any standard, and it's Tyra that deserves the credit for this. Ana calls her "Mama," and when the two of them are together, the bond they share is unmistakable. Yolanda's parental rights have been vanquished. My client is well within her rights at this time to pursue adoption.
Karen: Your honor, this is coming out of nowhere. When we started this process...
Neil: (Clears throat)
Karen: We were told that Tyra was not going to be allowed to adopt Ana.
Neil: Karen--Karen, stop.
Karen: No, no. She has dragged that poor little girl all over the country. She tried to take off with her.
Rafael: You must not interrupt like this.
Karen: No, for Ana's sake, I absolutely will interrupt for her.
Tyra: Karen, Ana is my daughter. I am her mother--me!
Judge: Counsel, control your clients.
Elizabeth: Tyra, please.
Neil: We're--we're sorry, your honor. You need to calm down, Karen.
Karen: Honey, whose side are you on?!
Tyra: Ana's, obviously!
Karen: That's more than I can say for you!
(Gavel bangs)
Judge: Order!
Rafael: We apologize. Sit down.
Neil: (Whispers) Sit down.
Judge: I can see you're all quite passionate about Ana's future. However, in the light of this new petition, and due to the fact that the minor child is above the age of reason, I would like to speak with Ana directly. Of course, the final decision is not up to her, however, since we have two qualified candidates, I want to know her feelings before I make a ruling. Uh, is she in the building?
Neil: Uh, no, no, she's not. Ana is actually with her brother Devon. Uh, I can call Devon and ask him to bring her to the courthouse, if you wish.
Judge: Please do. We stand in recess until they arrive.
Lily: Okay, so I will ask the clerk if they have that book you mentioned, okay?
Ana: Okay. I'm going to the romance section.
Devon: Oh, where's my hat and dark glasses?
Ana: It's next to "Sports." You can hide out there.
Devon: This way?
Billy: Hey, no cuts.
Lily: Uh, fine. I'll just--I don't know.
Billy: No, please, don’t. Come on. Seriously, can we talk?
Lily: (Sighs) Sure.
Lily: So... I'm listening.
Billy: I know a lot's changed since, uh, this little one came along.
Lily: Oh, try everything.
Billy: Can I at least apologize for the way things ended between us?
Lily: Billy, it's fine, okay? Apology accepted. I should probably find Devon, so...
Billy: Hold on, I'm not done with it. I know it sounds weird, but we never had a chance to break up. And if we had, I would've thanked you.
Lily: For what?
Billy: For our time together. I know we weren't the great loves of each other's lives, but I'm a better person for having met you. I cared about you then, I care about you now. And I hope that one day that we could be friends again.
Lily: Yes, we did have some good times.
Billy: We totally had good times.
Lily: (Laughs)
Billy: Lily... I know I don't have a right to ask you a favor right now, but, um...
Lily: But you're going to anyway, right?
Billy: Yeah.
Lily: Okay.
Billy: Cane fighting for custody is... look, I know he thinks that he's doing the right thing for Delia, but he's not. He just isn’t. I mean, this little baby is the most important thing in our lives. Chloe and I are her parents. She belongs with us. Is there any way that you can get Cane to see that for me?
Lily: Billy, I...
Billy: I know-- I know you've tried before, but can you try again? Just try again. Please tell me you'll try, because... it's the right thing to do, okay? It's the right thing to do for Delia.
Lily: Cane thinks that he's doing the right thing.
Devon: Hey, excuse me. Uh, Lily, we need to go right now, 'cause Dad just called, okay?
Lily: Okay, yeah.
Devon: Let's go.
Lily: Um, I'm sorry. I-I have to go.
Billy: Yeah.
Billy: There has got to be some way to stop this craziness.
Cordelia: (Grunts)
Chloe: (Clears throat) Hey, big guy. Um... I know I'm probably not your favorite person. I know that I've done some really crummy things that probably don't sit too well with you up there, but, um... I really love this bundle of joy that you gave me. And... please do not punish her for the mistakes that I've made. Delia really needs me. (Sniffles) (Voice cracks) But I really need her, too.
(Sniffles)
Victoria: Dad's pet project, and he turns it right over to me. So if all of the new brands fly and they spin off their own lines, Newman Cosmetics will double in size.
J.T.: That's great.
Victoria: Yeah, it's great. It's great, as long as the board approves it... which Dad seems to think that they will, but you never know.
J.T.: Why, money?
Victoria: Uh, that, and politics. See, we've got this new wild card named Colleen, and this will be her first board meeting since she took over Brad's board seat. Oh, I just hope that she and Dad don't go all "High Noon" on me, and screw up my presentation.
Victor: You were let go and no one told you? That doesn't sound like the Katherine I know.
Jill: I know. But once the shock wore off, I thought, what a tremendous opportunity for you.
Victor: For me?
Jill: Come on, Victor. I am an exceptional businesswoman. I'm smart, I'm experienced. You and I could do great things together.
Victor: (Laughs) We could, couldn't we, Jill?
Jill: Mm.
Victor: The answer is no.
Jill: Come on! You haven't even heard what I have to say.
Victor: I know what you want to say, Jill. You're looking for a job. The answer is no. I already have an excellent team around me, okay?
(Shuffling papers)
Kay: Well, since you, uh, brought boxes, you may as well use them.
Cane: Yeah. So we're cleaning house, huh? What better time?
Kay: Well, uh, I'll have someone take them upstairs, or Jill's old office? Oh, unless you prefer to be at headquarters?
Cane: Wait, wait, wait, you're not firing me?
Kay: No, heavens, no. I'm "Kicking you upstairs," as they say in the business.
Cane: (Laughs) From Jabot to Chancellor?
Kay: You know, it's time, uh, the Abbott children, uh, start running their father's business which he founded. And, uh, it's time you take your place in your father's company.
Judge: Are you comfortable, Ana?
Ana: Not really.
Judge: (Chuckles) Good. You're being honest. That's what we need. Now just so we're clear, I won't ask who you want to live with. It wouldn't be fair. Besides, I'm the one who gets to decide that, okay?
Ana: Okay.
Judge: You know that Mr. and Mrs. Winters want to adopt you?
Ana: Yes.
Judge: Turns out, Tyra does, too.
Ana: Really? That's why you're here?
Judge: So have you liked living with Mr. and Mrs. Winters?
Ana: It's great. I mean, they help me with my homework. We have dinner together. And Lily and Devon come to play games after dinner.
Judge: Sounds very nice.
Ana: It is.
Judge: And what was living with Mrs. Hamilton like?
Ana: Y-you mean, my mom? She worked at a hotel in Seattle, and I would sleep in one of the rooms if she was on her graveyard shift.
Judge: What kind of work did she do?
Ana: I think she was a manager.
Judge: Uh-huh. Did you live in Seattle a long time?
Ana: It was pretty much on and off, depending on her job.
Judge: Mm-hmm.
Ana: But she always made me feel safe.
Judge: What was the longest you ever stayed in one place?
Ana: I don't know. Here, I guess. But the thing is, I love them all. Mr. Neil is like my dad, and Miss Karen's very sweet. She always prays with me. But Tyra-- she's my mom.
Tyra: (Sniffles)
Judge: Ana? Would you mind stepping out in the hallway with your brother for a bit?
Judge: We'll take a short recess while I make my decision.
Cane: So you want me to take over as the C.E.O. of Chancellor Industries?
Kay: Yes. Oh, Cane, you're a very gifted manager, and I expect great things from you. So once you get settled in Jill's old offices, uh, you just come and see me and we'll discuss your duties.
Cane: Grandma?
Kay: Hmm?
Cane: Listen... I really appreciate the opportunity, and you will always be family to me. But after what happened to Mom, I just... I just don't know if Chancellor's the right place for me anymore.
Kay: You're turning me down, right?
Cane: Yeah. But I will save you the trouble of firing me from Jabot. You can tell the Abbotts I quit.
Jill: You could plug me in anywhere. There is no division of Newman Enterprises where I wouldn't hit the ground running.
Victor: Everything is covered, Jill, okay?
Jill: Not everything.
Victor: What's that supposed to mean?
Jill: Well, y-you know those Jabot shares that you transferred to me, enabling me to fire Jack and Ashley? The thing is, Jack has been hounding me about them. He's trying to confirm that you were the one behind my getting the shares in the first place. Can you imagine how disappointed Ashley would be if she found out the truth?
Victor: I have a suggestion. And please take it to heart. Take up needlepoint, because you're gonna have a lot of time. Thank you for coming by, Jill.
Chloe: I'll take a chamomile tea. Mellow me out, please.
Woman: Okay.
Chloe: Thank you.
Chloe: Ah. Well, look who it is. It's our favorite do-gooder.
Mac: I just need to get some more hot water.
Chloe: So I hear that you're staying in Genoa City. Funny, you're going, now you're staying. It's just so funny how that works.
Mac: If you say so.
Chloe: F.Y.I.-- if you're planning on staying because you think that there's still hope with you and Billy, there isn’t. That ship has sailed, because Billy and I-- we are married in every sense of the word. Just in case you're deluding yourself in thinking otherwise, and we have a baby. So why don't you take my advice and mosey along, because, Mackenzie, my husband isn't the least bit interested in going backwards, okay?
Billy: What the hell are you doing, Chloe?
Chloe: (Sighs)
Devon: (Sighs)
Ana: Was it bad that I hugged Mom?
Devon: No. No, not at all. You're fine.
Ana: Really? 'Cause I don't want to make Miss Karen and Mr. Neil mad.
Devon: Let me tell you something, you said and you did what was in your heart, and that's not always easy. But it is never, ever wrong, okay?
Ana: Okay.
Karen: How could you do this? Did you hire that woman an attorney?
Neil: Karen, listen to me, I thought that it was the right thing to do. I did, yes.
Karen: You thought it was the right thing for whom, for Tyra? Is that who your loyalty is to now?
Neil: Come on, Karen--
Karen: No, I'm serious--
Man: Court's back in session.
Judge: One thing is abundantly clear-- Ana Hamilton is deeply loved. I hope the petitioners will work together and do what's right so that she can have all three of you in her life. Children need to be surrounded with people who love them. They also need a sense of stability to reach their full potential. Accordingly, I'm granting Neil and Karen Winters...
Karen: (Gasps)
Judge: The right to legally adopt Anastasia Hamilton.
Karen: (Gasps)
Judge: Mr. Winters has lived in his residence for over 15 years...
