Kay: Oh, Mackenzie, there you are. Darling, have you, uh, seen Jill? Now I need to talk some sense into that stubborn head of hers.

Mac: Fix the economy while you're at it.

Kay: (Sighs) I'm supposed to meet Murphy here later. Well, I suppose I better keep on looking.

Mac: I don't get why she's so mad at you. It's not like you rigged the D.N.A. results so you wouldn't be her mother anymore.

Kay: Oh, please. Oh, she is so convinced that I never accepted her as my daughter.

Mac: That's ridiculous.

Kay: Well, that's what I keep telling her, but she refuses to listen. I don't know. Just some way, somehow, I have to get through to her.

(Elevator bell dings)

Jill: Hello, there.

(Telephone rings)

Jill: What the hell? Jennifer...

(Rings)

Jill: What are all my things doing in boxes?

Jennifer: I was told this morning to pack all your office up immediately.

Jill: Who told you that? Who gave you that order?

Jennifer: It was on the--

Jill: Never mind. I already know.

(Bell chimes)

Lily: Karen? Hey!

Karen: Oh, hey. Hey, Lily.

Lily: Hi.

Karen: It's been a while, huh?

Lily: Yeah, I know. That's--that's my fault. I've been meaning to stop by, but I've just been so busy.

Karen: That's-- that's all right.

Lily: But how are things?

Karen: You know, Lily, you don't have to pretend like you don't know what's going on.

Lily: Uh, what are you talking about?

Karen: You know, between your dad and Tyra. I'm sure Devon's told you all about it.

Lily: Well, actually, Devon hasn’t... (Sighs) Told me anything. Is--is something going on?

Karen: You--you know what? Maybe you should just talk to your dad about it. Just ask your dad.

Lily: Well, I-I-I'm asking you. What happened between my dad and Tyra?

Karen: (Sighs)

Lily: Wait. Are--are-- wait, do you think that they... (Sighs) Karen, no. My dad would never do that.

Karen: Lily, he admitted it. Your father cheated on me.

[Billy remembering]

Mac: I only came back for Grandma. This was never meant to be permanent.

Billy: (Scoffs) So you--you walk back into my life, and now you're gonna walk right back out of it?

Mac: Yes. So please, Billy, no more "What ifs" or "If only." We only have right now, and then I'm gone.

Chloe: So, uh, which one says "Mother of the year"?

Cordelia: (Fussing)

Billy: The Margaret Thatcher number.

Chloe: Uh, yeah. I was thinking the same thing.

Cordelia: (Crying)

Billy: Hey.

Chloe: Hi.

Billy: Hey, beautiful. What's with that big frown, huh? Huh? Oh, yes, I know.

Cordelia: (Crying)

Billy: Oh, I know. Mom and Dad might not be perfect, but you're still our little girl, and no one's gonna take you away from us. I know. It's okay. Oh.

Chloe: So you still love her?

Billy: Of course I love her. She's my daughter.

Chloe: Not Delia. Mackenzie. Because if you're still hoping for a fairy-tale ending, then we are both gonna get screwed.

Cordelia: (Crying)

Billy: Shh.

Cane: You've put together a very strong case, and I think your strategy is right on.

Michael: Glad you approve.

Cane: Listen, Michael, Chloe and Billy may play the "Happily married" card, but I do believe that I'm a more responsible parent than Billy will be. So when we go to court, I would like to hit him with everything we have. My case is strong, right? I mean, there's no reason that I shouldn't feel confident about this, right?

Michael: Billy is your brother. Are you sure you want to go at him like this?

Cane: All right. See, Michael, if-- if you aren't behind me on this, maybe--

Michael: Of course I'm behind you. It's just hard for me to think of two brothers at each other's throat when I would give anything in the world to have my brother sitting here right next to me.

Lily: Oh, my gosh. I can't believe my dad, of all people...

Karen: Would sleep with Tyra? I-I know. I-I couldn't believe it, either.

Lily: So... (Sighs) So I guess the adoption's on hold, right?

Karen: No. No. Why would you say that?

Lily: Well, 'cause, you know, if you and Dad are having problems--

Karen: No, but, Lily, we're gonna work through them, you know?

Lily: Yeah, but, Karen, if there's, you know, any uncertainty, it wouldn't be fair to Ana to make that sort of commitment. You know, maybe Tyra could--

Karen: I--could, what? Adopt Ana? You--you think that the courts should actually reward that sort of despicable behavior?

Lily: No. No, no, no. No.

Karen: No?

Lily: Of course not. No. It's just that, you know, if I've realized anything from Cane's situation, it's that children need to be with their mothers.

Karen: You mean, like, Yolanda?

Lily: (Sighs)

Karen: No. Look, you know what? When the adoption goes through, I will be Ana's mother.

Rafael: Karen wants to move forward?

Neil: She'd like us all to pretend that what happened didn’t.

Rafael: (Sighs) I can get the hearing postponed.

Neil: No. No, listen to me. I am willing to do this, provided that Tyra can present her own petition.

Rafael: Now hold on.

Neil: You don't-- you don't think she has a stake in this?

Rafael: Hold on. You want to go into court with your fingers crossed? Stand next to your wife secretly hoping that Tyra wins so that you don't look like the bad guy?

Tyra: (Sighs)

Neil: That's a pretty harsh accusation. I wouldn't exactly put it that way.

Rafael: No, no, no. You pay me to call 'em like I see 'em, Neil. And what you're suggesting is illegal, not to mention a major conflict of interest.

Tyra: Look, Rafe, I don't expect you to represent me. Just, do you know any good lawyers?

Rafael: I could make a referral. But, look, even if the court does agree to open up the hearing, there's still a very good chance that you and Karen will win, especially if you conceal your martial difficulties.

Neil: If that's the case, I guess I can go through with the adoption and find a way to make my marriage work.

Rafael: I'll, uh, I'll call with a couple names when I get back to the office.

Neil: Raf-Rafael, you got something to say? You got something on your mind?

Rafael: In my experience, Neil, couples who stay together solely to raise a child, they usually live to regret it.

Chloe: If you are going to bail on me, I need to know now, Billy. I can't handle losing my child.

Billy: Take it easy. No one's bailing on you.

Chloe: If you are not in this for real, I need to know now, because if you blindside me in front of that judge and decide that you're gonna run off with "Nature girl" and roll bandages and feed the poor, three guesses who is going to win this custody suit.

Billy: Knock it off, okay? Stop it. Stop it. Just stop it, okay? No one is cutting out on you. I have no plans to cut out on you, even if you are acting like a whack job. As for Mac goes, yes, I was crazy about her at one time, and I couldn't wait to marry her. And when I saw her again, I'm not gonna lie to you, I-I felt something. But it doesn't matter, because she's gone, and I'm here with my family where I belong, okay?

Mac: It's so weird. I keep looking over and expecting to see Kevin behind the bar, and then I remember where he is.

Kay: Yes, my heart does break for that poor kid.

Mac: I was thinking about offering to help out around here so Jana can focus on getting him well.

Kay: (Laughs) Oh, Mac, you are your father's daughter...

Mac: (Laughs)

Kay: Wanting to save the world and everybody in it.

Mac: Well, this a-- this is a lot harder than taking care of strangers. They really pushed us not to get emotionally involved.

Kay: Well, that sounds like sensible advice.

Mac: It's a relief not having to feel things I didn't want to feel. (Laughs) And then I come home, and it's like these parts of me that were completely shut off...

Kay: Mm-hmm.

Mac: Just wide-open again. It scares me.

Kay: Are we still taking about Kevin, or are we moving onto Billy? Oh, Darling, please. I know it wasn't easy...

Mac: (Sighs)

Kay: After all that time, thinking there was an impediment, and it never existed.

Mac: I guess some things just aren't meant to be.

Kay: So your decision to, um, stay in Genoa City had absolutely nothing to do with your ex-fiancé?

Mac: Didn't you say you had some demons to face, or...

Kay: No, just one.

Mac: I hope it goes better this time.

Kay: Thank you. Dear God in heaven, I hope so, too. If Jill would just let me get out more than two words, there may be hope.

Mac: Mm-hmm.

Kay: (Laughs) See you later.

Mac: Bye.

Michael: Hey, I need Kevin’s mail, please.

Mac: Hey, Stranger.

Michael: Whoa. Mackenzie. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. It's so good to see you. You were in Africa fighting the good fight-- humanitarian aid agency.

Mac: Therefore, my assignment was ending, and I heard Grandma was alive, so...

Michael: Yeah, that was something, all right. God, you've been gone so long. Everybody's missed you. Kevin would be thrilled if he were--

Mac: I heard what happened. At least he's not in jail, and you were able to get him some help.

Michael: Nah, I wouldn't call what they do there "Helpful."

(Clears throat)

Mac: Psychiatric hospital, right?

Michael: Mm-hmm, so they claim. I'm on my way over there now to see if any progress has been made. He's so doped up, though, it'll probably be hard to tell.

Mac: Can I come with you?

Michael: I don't think that's a good idea.

Mac: I've seen Kevin in hell once before, and I was there when he came out the other side. Maybe I could help get him back there again. At least let me try, Michael

Neil: Thanks, Rafael. I appreciate the recommendation. Okay. Bye-bye. All right, so Rafael gave you a referral, uh, a very good attorney. Her name is Elizabeth Gardner. You okay to meet with her on your own?

Tyra: Absolutely. Look, Neil, you've done way too much for me.

Tyra: (Sighs) I wouldn't blame you if you hated me.

Neil: Tyra, no. Of course I don't hate you. Would it make you happier if I said I hated you?

Tyra: (Laughs) No. I-I just wouldn't blame you if you did. You know, I've ruined everything. I ruined your life.

Neil: Oh, would you stop talking like that? No, I'll tell you exactly what you did. Look at me. You helped me take a good long look at my life.

(Door opens)

Tyra: (Sighs)

Neil: (Clears throat)

Tyra: See what I mean?

Neil: Yeah. Um, don't worry about it. I'll--I'll talk to her. I'll--I'll see you in court tomorrow, okay?

Tyra: Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow.

Neil: Yeah.

Neil: Okay, so Devon-- Devon must have told you, right?

Lily: No. Actually, Karen did. And she seems to think that you're getting past it, but from what I saw up at-- (Inhales sharply) You know what? Actually, Dad, it's none of my business.

Neil: No, you're right, Lily. It is none of your business. We're not having an affair.

Lily: Oh, really? Well, then why were you and Tyra out there looking--

Neil: Lily, I want you to believe me when I tell you that. Tyra and I--we got together one time and one time only, and that one time was a mistake. But it made me realize that adopting a child would be an even bigger mistake, both for me and Karen.

Cordelia: (Crying)

Chloe: Honey, no.

Billy: Look at you, all smiles now, huh?

Chloe: Oh.

Cordelia: (Crying)

Chloe: (Imitating Cordelia) Wah. (Normal voice) Hey, how about we, uh, go take off somewhere after the hearing.

Billy: What?

Cordelia: (Crying)

Chloe: Shh. (High-pitched voice) We will go celebrate, right? We'll go somewhere tropical-- you, me, the little bambino. Yeah. Oh.

Billy: Okay, let's not jump the gun, okay?

Chloe: (Normal voice) Shh. Why? I mean, do you think that we-- that we should be worried and we can't celebrate, or what?

Billy: I'm not worried about anything, so don't you be, either.

(Knock on door)

Cordelia: (Crying)

Billy: Oh! I'll get it.

Chloe: Shh.

Billy: I'll get it.

Chloe: Hi. Come on.

Cordelia: (Cooing)

Billy: Hey, Rafe. Come on in.

Rafael: Hey, Buddy. Thanks. Hi, Chloe.

Chloe: Hi.

Rafael: Um, sorry to drop by so late.

Billy: No, no worries. We're just hanging out with the little princess.

Rafael: Definitely bring her to the hearing.

Billy: Wait. You think?

Chloe: Yeah?

Rafael: It can't hurt.

Chloe: Why? Should--should we be worried?

Rafael: Nothing's set in stone, guys.

Billy: Well, you're our lawyer. You have to say that, I mean, to cover your butt, right? Ca-Cane can't win this.

Rafael: I wish I could promise you that, Billy, but I can’t. No one can.

Chloe: (Sighs)

Jill: Apparently, I'm no longer working at Chancellor Industries, not that anyone had the decency to notify me.

Cane: And you really believe that this is Katherine’s doing?

Jill: I am certain of it. (Sighs) Once she sets out to destroy someone, there's no depths she wouldn't sink to.

Jill: Isn't that right, Katherine?

Cane: Is she there?

Jill: I'll call you back later.

Kay: Right about what, Jill?

Jill: Oh, you expect me to believe you weren't eavesdropping?

Kay: I didn't mean to interrupt your conversation.

Jill: Oh, you're gonna gloat politely. There's a first.

Kay: Gloat? (Drops purse on chair) About what, Jill? I mean, I was hoping we could talk civilly this time.

Jill: (Scoffs) Oh, there's no need. I've gotten your message loud and clear.

Kay: My message?

Jill: Oh, please. You're gonna pretend that you are not responsible for getting me tossed out on my ear?

Kay: What--

Jill: What, are you afraid I'm gonna sue you for breach of contract? Actually, that's not a bad idea.

Kay: Would you stop ranting, please, and just tell me what happened?

Jill: I was fired, Katherine, with no cause and no notice. All my things are in boxes, thanks to you.

Kay: Uh, now--now wait just a moment. I have nothing to do with that.

Jill: Oh, right.

Kay: No, I swear to you, I did not have you terminated. Now someone has made a dreadful mistake.

Jill: Yeah, me, for actually believing you could love me as your daughter. But now I know better.

Kay: I do love you. I do love you!

Jill: (Laughing)

Kay: Biology is irrelevant to me, and I've told you that over and over again, Jill. How many--

Jill: Oh, ho. That's rare. That's funny.

Kay: What is so funny?

Jill: You, Katherine! (Sighs) You really assume that I am so desperate that I would buy this garbage? You've taken away everything that I care about. And yet, you waltz in here expecting me to believe that you are not the one responsible for what's just happened?

Kay: Then why would I boot you out of Chancellor if I took all that time to teach you how to run it?

Jill: Because it was expected of you. "Saint Katherine" couldn't snub her daughter. But secretly... wow, secretly, it must have just killed you to pretend you gave a damn.

Kay: That is not how I felt! No. You are hurt, you're upset, and--and you're projecting it all on me.

Jill: No. I'm seeing things for the way they really are for the very first time. This is payback, isn't it? All those years we were enemies, all those things you think I took from you, you're just returning the favor. You didn't come here to make peace. You came here to watch me fall, and the harder, the better.

Michael: You don't have to do this.

Mac: It's fine. Let me go in.

(Door lock beeps)

Mac: Hey, Kevin. It's Mac. I've been gone. But I'm back, and I sure have missed you.

Mac: Kevin? Can you hear me?

 http://tvmegasite.net/_themes/tp-dis4/divider.gif

Kay: This argument is so absurd.

Jill: I'll tell you what's absurd, it's you pretending to be sorry. It's you pretending to love me. Why don't you just admit that you're glad?

Kay: Glad?

Jill: I mean, the woman who has been nothing but grief to you for the last 30 years is not your daughter. You should be turning cartwheels. You don't love me. You never have loved me. For once in your whole miserable, hypocritical life, will you just tell the truth?

Kay: You want me to admit it? Fine. I'm glad. I'm joyous. I'm ecstatic. Yes, I am glad that this, this is not my daughter.

Jill: (Sighs)

Rafael: The biggest threat to your custody petition is the way you mishandled the paternity issue.

Chloe: Wait. Are you saying that we could actually lose our little girl?

Rafael: I'm saying it's not a done deal. Cane stepped up without hesitation, and he refused to back down. The judge is bound to be impressed by that.

Chloe: No, no, no, no. But--but I am Delia’s mother, and I-I know that I screwed up. Believe me, I know that I did, but I have done everything to make it right. We both have.

Billy: And we're Delia’s biological mother and father. That's got to count a-a lot, doesn't it? I mean, come on.

Rafael: Absolutely. It definitely counts. And, guys, I didn't stop by to freak you out. I just need you both to be prepared.

Chloe: (Sighs)

Billy: Well, thanks.

Chloe: Yeah, thank you.

Rafael: And we'll see you at the courthouse.

Chloe: All right.

Billy: All right.

(Groans)

Chloe: Thanks.

Rafael: Get some rest.

Chloe: Thank you.

Rafael: Absolutely.

Billy: (Sighs)

Chloe: I need-- I need her books.

Billy: What books? What--

Chloe: The vintage nursery rhyme books. I meant to get them for Delia. I need to get them right now.

Billy: Chloe, the books can wait. They can wait. They--

Chloe: No. No, they can't wait, Billy, because I'm gonna lose her, and tomorrow, I may lose my child. And tonight is the last night.

Billy: Stop. Stop. Look at--look at me. Look at me. Shh. Come on.

Chloe: No.

Billy: Look at me. Cane's not gonna win. I'm telling you, Cane is not gonna win.

Chloe: (Sighs) You heard him. He could.

Billy: All right. Cane might have stepped up, okay? But so did I.

Chloe: (Sighs)

Billy: I married you. I made you an Abbott, and I will be damned if my kid ends up with my brother, okay? Now you, me, Dee Dee. We're a family, and no one's gonna split us up. It's not gonna happen.

Chloe: Oh, I--

Billy: Look at me. It's not gonna happen, okay? All right.

(Picks up keys)

Chloe: Where are you going?

Mac: So... you're an old married man now. How cool is that? I hear you and Jana are doing great. I'm really happy for you, Kevin. You deserve it.

Kevin: (Sighs)

Mac: And then there's me, still running all over the world trying to figure out what to do with my life. But I'm back now. We can spend time together.

Chipmunk voice: I wish it wasn't like this... in here. But hey, I'll take what I can get. You're one of the best friends I ever had.

Kevin: Mac! Mac, where are you?

Chipmunk voice: I'm standing by you, no matter what. I believe in you, Kevin.

Kevin: I-I can hear you, but I can't see you.

Chipmunk voice: You've got through this before. You'll do it again.

Kevin: Mac! Mac!

(Sighs)

Chipmunk voice: You probably thought you'd seen the last of me, but you were wrong. And now that I'm back, you're never getting rid of me!

(Laughing evilly)

Kevin: No!

Mac: Well, I guess I'd better get going. Don't want to overstay my welcome. I'll see you really soon.

Michael: He had no idea who you were, did he?

Mac: I have no idea what's going on in his head. But with the right time and treatment, he'll get better.

Michael: What if he doesn't? What if the Kevin we know is gone forever?

Mac: My heart is breaking, too, Michael, but the worst thing we can do is give up hope.

Michael: You were the first real friend my brother ever had.

Mac: That's not gonna stop. I told him that I'd see him really soon.

Michael: Thank you.

Kevin: Mac.

Cane: Mom.

Jill: Oh, turn the lights out, Cane.

Cane: Hey. Hey, you all right? What did Katherine say to you when you confronted her?

Jill: (Scoffs) She denied knowing anything about it.

Cane: (Sighs)

Jill: But she's the only one with the authority to do that. It had to be her.

Cane: Well, I still think you're wrong.

Jill: No. Knowing what I know now, I'm surprised she didn't give me a pink slip the moment she knew we weren't related.

Cane: Okay. All right, listen. Katherine cares about you.

Jill: (Scoffs)

Cane: Feelings like that do not disappear when lab tests go wrong, all right? Believe me, I know.

Jill: Honey, you're thinking about your baby. I know you love Cordelia unconditionally. It's different with Katherine and me. There is too much bad blood between us.

Cane: (Sighs)

Jill: (Sighs) And now we're back in that place. We're back in that dark place.

Cane: I am so sorry.

Jill: (Sighs) She said it.

Cane: What did she say?

Jill: I asked her to admit that she was glad I wasn't her daughter, and she did.

Murphy: The woman's whole life is falling apart. And she needs someone to blame, and... (Laughs) And you're it.

Kay: No. I-I lost my temper with her again. Oh, I said some things I didn't mean.

Murphy: Of course you didn’t.

Kay: Why, then? Why is she lashing out at me this way? Why?

Murphy: It's like when a dog gets hit by a car. You reach out to help, and it bites your hand. Of course, it's scared. Everything hurts, and it doesn't know how to act any different.

Kay: No. It's as if she's determined to destroy-- and I mean destroy-- every good moment that we've ever shared as mother and daughter. I just don't know what else to do.

Neil: You really think its wrong of me to give Tyra a fighting chance to adopt Ana?

Lily: Do I think it's wrong? No, I don't think it's wrong. You're just trying to do what's best for one of your kids. But I'm afraid that if Karen found out, that she'll feel betrayed by you all over again.

Neil: Do you understand that if I tell her what I've done, this whole thing could blow up? Ana could wind up back in foster care.

Lily: (Sighs) Dad, I just-- I hope that you're ready.

Neil: Hope that I'm ready? For what? What are you talking about?

Lily: Because you and Karen rushed into this marriage to try and hold onto Ana. And if you lose her, then you'll be forced to find out whether you guys can stay together without her.

Chloe: You know, I-I really wasn't expecting you to drop by tonight.

Esther: (Sighs) I was worried about you.

Chloe: (Sighs) Honestly, this week has been a roller coaster, but Billy keeps on assuring me that everything is gonna be fine, and nothing is going to break up our family.

Esther: (Sighs) I am so relieved to hear that. I was so worried about history repeating itself, but if Billy tells you there's nothing to worry about, then--

Chloe: Wait, are we talking about the same exact thing, because I'm freaking out about Cane and the custody.

Esther: Oh, Honey, I-I'm sorry. I-I'm talking about Mackenzie. She's not leaving town. She decided to stay.

Billy: Vintage nursery rhyme books? My wife said you carry 'em here.

Woman: They're in the back. Give me a few minutes, and I'll have someone pull them for you.

Billy: Thank you.

Woman: Mm-hmm.

Billy: Mac?

Karen: I got your message. You said it was urgent.

Neil: Yeah. Yeah, it is. Um, Karen, you know, that, uh, obviously, the hearing is tomorrow, and there are some very s-specific things that we need to discuss.

Karen: Honey, there's nothing to discuss. We're going forward with the adoption. Neil, do not take this away from me.

Neil: (Sighs) Karen, if you'd just listen to me for a minute, I--

Karen: No, listen, Honey, I told you. I had already made peace with the idea that I was never gonna have children, and then you came into my life, and you made me believe that my dreams were possible. Now miracle of all miracles, I have an opportunity to be a mother.

Neil: Yes, I know. I know how much that means to you.

Karen: You know, if you did, you wouldn't be sitting there looking like you're on the verge of backing out.

Neil: (Sighs) A-after everything else that I-I've put you through, the last, the very last thing that I want to do is hurt you.

Karen: Then don’t. Just walk into that courtroom tomorrow, and convince the judge that you love me.

Neil: I do. I do love you.

Karen: You know, it's been a very long day. You know, I'm just gonna go home.

Jill: I wanted so badly to make it work, and now I see I never had a chance. How I could have denied that all these years... you see, I was so desperate to find my birth mother, that the thought of her rejecting me all over again... but now she can, huh? And with a clear conscience. I mean, how could anybody think that we would just suddenly fall into each other's arms, all that ugliness forgotten? Please, it couldn't be done, and we just proved it. So now she-- she can just erase me from her life, hmm?

Cane: I am gonna take you to the club, I'm gonna help you with your things, and I'm gonna buy my mom dinner.

Jill: Oh, Baby, thank you. But believe it or not, there's still some of my things that are in the boxes, huh? And I've got some personal files to go through. And you have the hearing tomorrow. You need to focus on that, not your mother.

Cane: Are you sure?

Jill: Oh, my sweet son, yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure. I'll be all right. It's just been a really hard day, that's all. Thanks for listening.

Cane: I just don't understand how Katherine could be so cruel to you. You know, when I found out Cordelia was not my biological daughter, I never stopped wanting her, and I never will.

Billy: I'm sorry. I'm just, uh, a little, mm...

Mac: Surprised, obviously.

Billy: Yeah. Yeah. You're not supposed to be here.

Mac: Why, do you need a membership to get in?

Billy: Not in the bookstore, silly-- in Genoa City. You said you were leaving.

Mac: Changed my mind.

Billy: You've been here the whole time, and you never even... I wrote down my number and asked Brock to give it to you. Did he give it to you?

Mac: Yeah. I just didn't see the point in calling.

Billy: Why not?

Mac: Ask your wife.

Billy: So, what, you're just gonna walk around town avoiding me because I'm married?

Mac: I don't see what the big deal is, Billy. I stayed, you know, now I have to go.

Billy: No, no, no. No, no. No, you're not. Not until you tell me why you stayed, the real reason why you stayed.

Michael: It was really nice of Mackenzie to stop by and visit you. She said it was great seeing you. I don't know if you know this, kiddo, but a lot of people love you, and Mackenzie is one of them, and your wife and my wife and Daniel and Amber and Katherine and Murphy and--and little Fenmore, little Fenmore... and me. I love you. I know you felt betrayed when they brought you here. Believe me, I did, too, but I'm not giving up on you. We're all fighting for you. I'm not gonna let you get lost again. We're gonna find a way to bring you back somehow, whatever it takes.

Kay: You know, I just keep thinking about poor Kevin in that hospital, that mental hospital. I mean, he was just trying to prove that I'm telling the truth about who I am. That precious kid, he-- he believes in me so much. Jill never did. She--sh-- she tried to destroy everything we ever had between us. I--how could she cut me off like this? That's what puzzles me. Did she think for one instant that--that I would do that to her?

Murphy: Katherine, my love, you could wrestle with this for the rest of your life and still not know the answer. Come on, let's go home.

Kay: Do you mind terribly if I just, uh, just let me sit here alone a bit, would you, Murph, please?

[Kay remembering]

Kay: Your confidence-- very refreshing.

Jill: Well, it's due to you. I finally realized that I have to stop caring about what people think of me. I just lead by example. Oh, I am so exhilarated! I can't wait to start on this campaign.

Kay: Are you sure there's nothing more I can do to help?

Jill: Just one little thing...

Kay: Mm-hmm?

Jill: Just support me in whatever I want to do...

Kay: (Laughs)

Jill: Because to pull this off, I may have to move Mount Everest.

Kay: Well, then Mount Everest had better start packing.

(Taps box on desk)

Lily: Drinking alone-- that's never a good sign.

Cane: Oh. Oh, well, I'm waiting for my mom. She hasn't had really the best day, so, you know, I thought I'd see if she's all right.

Lily: Aw, you're such a good son.

Cane: Oh.

Lily: (Laughs) I'm gonna try and be a good daughter tomorrow-- Ana's adoption hearing. I know that your custody case is right after that.

Cane: I don't expect you to stay.

Lily: No, I want to. I mean, not because I've changed my mind. I-I still think that Cordelia should be with her mom, but, you know, I love you...

Cane: Mm.

Lily: And I want to be there for you.

Cane: Mm. You don't know how much that means to me.

Lily: I just have one request.

Cane: Mm-hmm?

Lily: Before you walk into that courtroom...

Cane: Mm-hmm?

Lily: I just want you to be absolutely sure that you're doing the right thing.

Cane: I'm sure. I've made up my mind, and I don't think another night's gonna change it.

Chloe: Mom, how could you not tell me about this? You know, once he finds out that Mac is still here, I mean, oh, my--oh. Oh, my God. What--what if he already knows?

Esther: Okay, listen, Katie--

Chloe: What if they're about to run off with each other?

Esther: Katie, calm down. You said he went to the bookstore.

Chloe: So? He lies! He lies with the best of them. Don't you realize that? He could be somewhere else! Mom, I have done everything to make sure that I have everything that I've ever wanted, and now it's just gonna be ripped away from me. You don't understand.

Esther: Wait, H-h-honey, who are you calling?

Chloe: I'm calling Billy-- who do you think?

Esther: No, Honey, stop. You need to trust Billy. He's committed to you and Delia, remember?

Chloe: Mom, he could just be telling me everything that I wanted to hear. Once he finds out that Mac is staying in town, there is no telling what he can do.

Esther: (Sighs)

Billy: You haven't answered me yet.

Mac: No, I haven’t.

(Cell phone rings)

Billy: What are you so afraid of, huh?

(Rings)

Mac: You should get that. It could be Chloe.

Billy: Do I already know why?

(Ringing)

Mac: I stayed to be with Grandma.

Billy: Damn it. That is not the only reason. Tell me the only reason. Tell me why.

Mac: I have to go.

Billy: Look, come on, come on, come on, come on. I need to hear you say it. I need to hear you say that you stayed here because of me.

Mac: Don't do this.

Billy: Come on, let me hear you say it. Just say it. Look at me. Say it. Please, say it.

Mac: Billy, please, let me go.

Next on "The Young and the Restless"...

Tyra: Your father and I made a mistake.

Lily: The last time you slept together, or when you went behind Karen's back to hire a lawyer?

J.T.: You're asking me to dig up dirt on somebody who's never done anything wrong in her life.

Victor: Dig deeper, you'll find something.

Chloe: My husband isn't interested.

Billy: What the hell are you doing, Chloe?
