Cane: It's, uh, Cane Ashby again. Uh, I really, really need to talk to you as soon as possible. Listen, Billy and Chloe might be married, but it doesn't make them fit parents to raise Cordelia, so I-I would like to push forward with the custody issue, please. (Sighs)
Lily: You just can't let it go, can you?
Neil: Karen, do you really think that pretending to the social worker that everything is fine between us is the answer here?
Karen: Isn't that what you've been doing since you slept with Tyra?
Neil: (Sighs)
Karen: Honey, if we don't talk to that woman outside that door right now, they could take Ana and put her back in the foster care system.
Neil: You're asking-- you're asking me to lie here.
Karen: If you can lie to your wife, certainly, you should have no problems lying to a stranger.
Kay: Oh, Esther, dinner was delicious.
Brock: You outdid yourself, girl.
Esther: Oh, thank you.
Murphy: Yeah, tofu-- that's a first for me.
Brock: (Laughs)
Esther: Well, did you like it?
Murphy: Hey, no offense, Esther, but I am a steak man.
Esther: Well, no offense taken. I know. I can make you a Tempe burger.
Kay: Oh, Esther, Esther--
Murphy: Oh...
[Mac remembering]
Billy: You want to save the world, then fine. Come here. Start here. Save me, because this life-- the wedding and a kid and a family-- I could do it. I could love it, just not with...
Chloe: See, Delia? I told you we would find Daddy.
Esther: That's Chloe's favorite picture of Billy. I can't wait to see their wedding pictures.
Kay: Uh, Darling, are you sure you can't stay for just a few days longer?
Brock: Oh, Mother, you know I would love to, but I dropped everything to come here, and there's a stack of work waiting for me.
Kay: Oh, I know. Mackenzie, have you given any thought to staying?
Mac: I have, and...
(Telephone rings)
Esther: Chancellor residence.
Chloe: Okay, don't faint, but I'm cooking to celebrate our first anniversary.
Billy: We got married yesterday.
Chloe: And they said we would never last.
Billy: (Sighs) You know, I was, uh, I was thinking I'm gonna take a drive over to the club, check on Mom. She took that news pretty hard about not being Katherine's daughter.
Chloe: Yeah, yeah, I remember the cake fight. Why don't you just call her?
Billy: She's not answering.
Chloe: And knowing Jill, she's probably holed up in her room planning some hostile takeover of Chancellor Industries. I'm sure she's fine.
Billy: Yeah, well, you know, I want to see for myself.
Chloe: Yeah, you want to see your mother, or do you plan on taking another walk in the moonlight?
Neil: Karen, what's it gonna be? Are you gonna ans--
Ana: Are you two deaf?
Neil: Hey, Ana, wait, uh...
Ana: Hi, Mrs. Harris.
Mrs. Harris: Hello, Ana. You look happy today.
Ana: Well, I just got an "A" on my social studies paper.
Mrs. Harris: Congratulations.
Ana: Thanks.
Karen: Hi, Mrs. Harris. I'm--I'm really sorry to make you wait.
Mrs. Harris: Mr. Winters.
Neil: Mrs. Harris, so very nice to see you again. So, young lady, have you managed to finish your homework?
Ana: I only have two more pages of math, but can I finish it after dinner?
Neil: Uh, sure, that's no problem, as long as you don't mind missing your favorite TV show.
Ana: Bye, Mrs. Harris.
Karen: (Chuckles)
Neil: Yeah, bye, okay.
Ana: Bye.
Neil: Um, please, feel free to sit down.
Mrs. Harris: I have good news. The judge ordered a hearing for next week.
Karen: Wow, so soon?
Mrs. Harris: From what I've seen, there's nothing to prevent you from adopting Ana.
Karen: That's wonderful.
Neil: (Sighs)
Mrs. Harris: Is there a problem, Mr. Winters? You do still want to adopt Ana, don't you?
Neil: Yeah, of--of course. Of course we do.
Karen: (Sighs)
Tyra: Hey there, Stranger. Long time no see. You know, I was starting to think that you were trying to avoid me like Neil and Karen.
Devon: What do you mean?
Tyra: Well, I've left them a bunch of messages about hanging out with Ana, and they've yet to return my calls.
Devon: Hmm. Well, you and Neil must speak every day, though, right?
Tyra: Well, you know, I do have this place running pretty smoothly, as you can see, so, no, not really.
Tyra: What?
Devon: I saw you and Neil here. I saw what you guys did.
Tyra: Uh, look, Devon--
Devon: No, you know what? Just tell me why, or, rather, how could you do this?
Tyra: Look, Devon, I'm sorry, okay? I am so sorry about what happened.
Devon: I just don't get how two people could be so damn selfish. I mean, really. You weren't thinking of Ana. You weren't thinking of me, and you sure as hell weren't thinking of his wife Karen.
Tyra: Look, it was one time only.
Devon: It was one time too many, all right? He's a married man.
Tyra: Look, I know that, okay? And Neil and I are sick about what happened.
Devon: (Sighs)
Tyra: It was wrong. I know that. It was wrong, but it is over, I swear.
Devon: You know that Neil was the one person in my life that I could count on to do the right thing? And now how am I ever supposed to trust him again?
Tyra: Look, Devon, don't blame Neil.
Devon: I don't blame just Neil. I blame both of you. I thought he loved Karen, and I thought he really wanted Ana to be a part of our family.
Tyra: He does, okay? Look, what happened between Neil and I has nothing to do with his love for his family.
Devon: (Sighs) That's funny. He said the same thing.
Tyra: Uh, wait. You've spoken to Neil?
Devon: Mm-hmm. Yeah, you want to know what else he said?
Tyra: (Sighs) What?
Devon: He said, "It just happened." These things don't just happen. I asked him if he was in love with you.
Tyra: And what did he say?
Devon: He couldn't answer me. He could barely even look at me. It doesn't sound like this is as over as you and Neil are saying it is.
Tyra: (Sighs)
Lily: I just hoped that once Billy and Chloe got married that you would stop trying to take their baby away from them.
Cane: Why do you make it sound like I'm the bad guy here? Until a couple of weeks ago, I thought that little girl was my baby.
Lily: Yeah, but, Cane, she's not.
Cane: So what do you want me to do? Do you want me to just stop caring? Do you want me to forget about her? I mean, the fact that Chloe and Billy are now married is not gonna make them good parents, Sweetheart.
Lily: Okay, well, I think the fact they even took the initiative to get married for the sake of their child shows that maybe they're not as irresponsible as you think.
Cane: Lily, they did not get married for the sake of Cordelia.
Lily: Okay, what other reason would Billy have to marry Chloe? I mean, it definitely was not for love.
Cane: Right. W-what has motivated every single one of Billy's decisions since he first got back to town?
Lily: You think he's doing this to get back at you?
Cane: Come on. Listen, he's been competing with me since day one, all right? I have his job now as a C.E.O. He's not gonna want me to take his baby.
Lily: Cane, raising a child is a lifetime commitment, and--and, yes, Billy has his faults, but he wouldn't commit to Cordelia just to get one up on you. I mean, I'm sorry, I don't believe that.
Cane: I offered him my job as C.E.O. for custody of the baby.
Lily: You tried to buy his daughter?
Cane: And he considered it.
Lily: Okay, well, he didn't do it. So maybe he has a conscience after all.
Cane: No, Billy is as deficient in that department as Chloe is.
Lily: Chloe is not like that when it comes to Cordelia, and you know it.
Cane: Oh, wow. Wow, she's really done a number on you, hasn't she? Listen, I know firsthand what an act she can put on, all right? I guarantee you, this baby is a meal ticket for Chloe to get whatever she wants, to get the--the Abbot millions, to get the Chancellor fortune, you just take your pick.
Lily: Cane, she loves Cordelia.
Cane: Not as much as she loves herself, and she'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants, and that includes using that little, innocent child.
Chloe: You hardly spent any time with Delia today.
Billy: She's been snoozing for most of it.
Chloe: Are you gonna hang around for dinner?
Billy: (Sighs) Come on, woman, you know the deal. "I do" does not necessarily transfer us into the Huxtables.
Chloe: Yeah, I was thinking more like the Osbournes.
Billy: The Osbournes will work. I am going on tour for a few days.
Chloe: Hmm. So, uh, did Mac leave town yet?
Billy: How should I know? Why?
Chloe: I don't know. Just curious, 'cause she-- she was that girl, right?
Billy: What girl?
Chloe: The girl that you married.
Billy: For six hours. You and I have already been married four times that long.
Chloe: What did you call her again? Uh, the "Superhero princess who saved the world."
Billy: Wow. That was a lifetime ago, okay? You have nothing to worry about.
Chloe: Who said I'm worried? I mean, she--she's pretty in a, you know, back-to-nature, girl-next-door kind of way, but so not your type.
Billy: Drop it, all right? I'll probably never see Mac again anyway.
Brock: Well, we'd better get moving, Sweetheart, so we can make our plane.
Kay: Oh, Brock, Mitchell has some papers for you to sign.
Brock: Okay.
Kay: Let me go over them with you.
Brock: All right, lead the way.
Kay: All right, um, they're in the office.
Esther: Oh, no, no, Honey. Mac, I'll get it.
Mac: Okay. I know with all the charity work you've done, you know what it's like out there. I know you think I should go back, even though my grandmother doesn't want me to.
Murphy: I'm afraid you're not a very good mind reader, because I think that's not the best thing you could do.
Cane: Okay, how long are you gonna be? Okay, no problem. I'll see you then. Thanks.
Lily: I should leave.
Cane: (Sighs) Lily, Lily, please wait. I hate that you're not okay with this, and I just wish that you would see how selfish Billy and Chloe really are, and they will never put Cordelia's needs above their own.
Lily: And I wish that you could see that they will and that they already have.
Cane: What--why do you insist on making me look like I am wrong? We would be married now if either Chloe or Billy had a shred of decency and either one of them just told the truth.
Lily: I-I-is that what this is about, because you're angry they kept us apart?
Cane: I'm not doing this 'cause I'm angry, but, yes, I am angry.
Lily: (Sighs)
Cane: Baby, I lost you.
Lily: Okay, but, Cane, we are together now.
Cane: Are we? You won't go to court with me. You won't wear my ring.
Lily: Because I think that you should let go of Cordelia.
Cane: I can't, and now I feel like we're further apart than when this whole thing started.
Mrs. Harris: This is very impressive.
Ana: Well, I had very smart people helping me.
Karen: (Laughs)
Neil: (Laughs) No, no, no. It's because you, young lady, you're smart, right?
Ana: Can I watch TV now?
Neil: You betcha.
Karen: (Sighs) You know, she's been very motivated at school.
Mrs. Harris: Her teachers say Ana’s doing well. She's a lucky girl to end up in a stable home with two loving parents.
Karen: Well, I'd say that we're the lucky ones.
Mrs. Harris: See you at the hearing.
Neil: I'll, uh, I'll walk you out.
Karen: Bye.
Neil: Thanks so much for coming. Bye, Mrs. Harris.
Mrs. Harris: Yeah, thank you.
Neil: Good night.
(Sighs)
Karen: Thank you for not ruining things.
Neil: Hey, wait a minute. You should come back here. We should finish what we started. Let's talk.
Karen: No, you know what? I think that I have heard enough for the day.
Neil: So, what, are you--
Karen: And I would really appreciate it if you would just leave.
Neil: Is it all right for you to tell the social worker that everything is fine between us, but you can't stand to be in the same room with me?
Karen: Honey, would-- would you give me a break? W--you--look what you've done.
Neil: But I've already admitted that I was wr-- I was beyond wrong, Karen. Come on, give me a break.
Karen: Honey, you were willing to put your family on the line. I mean, damn it, Neil, you're the one who gave me that dream to begin with. I had already accepted the fact that I was never gonna have a child, and then you came along and made me believe that it was possible. I don't want to talk about this anymore, so would you just go?
Neil: Karen...
Karen: No. Just go.
(Door closes)
Karen: (Sighs)
Karen: (Crying)
Neil: (Sighs) (Sighs) Ah! (Sighs)
Tyra: (Sighs) Neil?
Neil: Hi.
Tyra: What are you doing? I thought we said no contact.
Neil: It's Ana.
Tyra: Oh, my God. Is she okay?
Neil: No, she's fine. She's fine. Um, I'll explain everything when I see you.
Tyra: Okay, look, I don't really think that's a good idea.
Neil: Tyra, don't leave. I'll be right there.
Tyra: (Sighs)
Devon: It's a onetime thing between you and Neil, huh? Sure.
Tyra: (Sighs)
Chloe: I'm sorry I gave you a hard time about Mac. I know it was a long time ago.
Billy: Yes, it was, a very long time ago.
Chloe: When I first met you, you were on page six once a week. You had a place in Hong Kong. You had a condo in New York. Second dates were not a part of your vocabulary. So when I saw you with Mac last night, I'm sorry, but you seemed a bit different, Billy.
Billy: Don't read too much into it, okay?
Chloe: Do you still have a thing for "Xena the warrior princess"?
Billy: (Sighs)
(Knock on door)
Billy: I'll get it.
Billy: Oh, Lily.
Lily: Hey, mind if I come in? I heard you two got married last night.
Chloe: Yeah, did you bring us a wedding present?
Lily: No, I came to congratulate you. How's married life?
Chloe: It's great. It's perfect, right, Pumpkin?
Billy: Oh, absolutely.
Cordelia: (Cries)
Chloe: Mm.
Billy: Oh, I'll get her. It's my turn. (Whispers) Hey, don't make me look bad, Kid. (Normal voice) Oh, relax. Come here. Shh, come to Daddy. Shh, shh, shh, shh.
Chloe: Oh.
Billy: Yeah, oh, there we go. See, I'm getting pretty good at this.
Chloe: Yeah, he really does have a way with the ladies.
Lily: Well, you know, now you'll have more time to spend with her now that you're not working at Jabot.
Billy: Well, I don't know about that. Who knows what's gonna happen now that Katherine's back?
Lily: Oh, yeah. You know, and I hear that Katherine's not the only one that's back, too. Isn't Mackenzie back in town? Didn't you guys almost get married or something?
Billy: Or something, yeah.
Lily: Yeah, I remember, um, something about how you guys realized you were cousins because it turned out that Katherine and Jill were actually mother and daughter, but now they're not. (Laughs) Isn't that ironic?
Chloe: You know, uh, are you done now? 'Cause we actually were just about to have dinner. So why don't you skedaddle?
Lily: You know, imagine if the truth had come out then. You might actually be married to someone else right now.
Chloe: (Clears throat)
Billy: You know, I just forgot that we are out of formula. I'm gonna go get some.
Chloe: Uh, no, I just got some.
Billy: We're out again. Thanks for stopping by, Lily. I'll be back.
Chloe: All right, so why don't you cut the innocent act? You are here because you're spying on us for your boyfriend, aren't you?
Lily: (Sighs) Okay, yes, I am.
Murphy: I'm not saying that your work isn't important. Oh, no. Saving the world-- that's, uh, serious stuff.
Mac: You're preaching to the choir, Murphy.
Murphy: Oh, I know. I know, I know. But right now, you could do a whole lot of good here. You see, this thing with Jill is throwing Katherine for a loop, and she just needs her family around her. Look, I-I don't want to make you feel guilty.
Mac: My grandmother's a very lucky woman. You obviously love her very much.
Murphy: More than I ever thought.
Brock: Mac, are you ready? Car's gonna be out front in two minutes.
Mac: (Sighs) Give me five.
Brock: Five? Okay.
[Mac remembering]
Mac: I'm sorry, Billy. I meant it. I've moved on, and so have you. Your wife and daughter are proof of that.
Billy: No.
Brock: Mac, we're running late. We're gonna miss the fli-- Billy?
Billy: Am I too late?
Karen: We haven't seen much of you lately, huh?
Devon: I know, right? Uh, school's been keeping me really, really busy.
Karen: Yeah?
Devon: Yeah, I, uh, I told Ana I would come by, though. I have a CD I wanted to give her.
Karen: Oh, great. She'll be really happy to see you.
Devon: You know, she would be, uh, even happier if you guys let Tyra come and visit her every now and then, you know?
Karen: Um, you know, we've just been really busy.
Devon: Tyra mentioned, though, that she'd been leaving messages and not really getting a response.
Karen: It's kind of complicated.
Devon: Yeah, I know.
Karen: No, you don’t.
Karen: Oh, God, you know. (Sighs) Okay, well, then you should understand why Tyra will never be welcome here.
Devon: Karen, um, I hate that this has happened. I really do, and I can't even begin to imagine how much this is hurting you.
Karen: No. (Scoffs) You can’t.
Devon: Right, but this should have nothing to do with Ana, you know?
Karen: You know what? This is-- maybe Tyra should have thought of that before she slept with my husband.
Devon: Tyra has raised that little girl since pretty much day one, okay? There's a special bond between them. It can't be broken, and no matter what, there's really nothing that any of us can do about that.
Cane: Hey.
Neil: Hey.
Cane: What are you drinking?
Neil: Club soda.
Cane: Same, please. Uh, do you have a minute?
Neil: I'm not staying, Cane.
Cane: No, it's not gonna take long.
Neil: (Sighs)
Cane: Listen, you know how--how I'm hoping to get custody of Cordelia, right?
Neil: I didn't realize you were still pursuing that. Lily hadn't said anything to me.
Cane: Yeah, that's because she doesn't think it's a good idea. She, um, she even called off our engagement.
Neil: What? Engaged? When did you get engaged? Never mind, doesn't matter. I, um, I had no idea. My mind has been somewhere else lately.
Cane: Listen, Neil...
Neil: (Sighs)
Cane: She doesn't understand why I need to do this, and I was hoping if anyone can get through to her, it'd be you.
Lily: Just so you know, Cane didn't ask me to spy on you.
Chloe: You just said that's why you're here.
Lily: No, I just wanted to see if his opinion of you and Billy was valid.
Chloe: Cane thinks that we are "Mommy and Daddy dearest," and you just saw Billy. You saw how he reacted when he thought we were out of formula. He's devoted to Delia. We both are.
Lily: I know. I told Cane that I think he's wrong to try and take her away from you, and he told me to come and see for myself, and I have, and now I am more convinced that Cordelia is right where she belongs.
Chloe: (Sighs) When Billy and I grew up, we never had our parents around. We really want more for Delia, and nothing is gonna stop us from being a family.
Billy: I can't let Mac leave without saying what I need to say, Brock.
Brock: Maybe she doesn't need to hear it.
Billy: Fine, okay, I have an idea.
Brock: (Sighs)
Billy: Okay, uh, my phone number.
Billy: Give it to her. Let her decide what she wants to do with it.
Brock: (Sighs)
Billy: Thank you.
Brock: Good luck with your new family.
Billy: (Sighs)
Karen: Why are you taking Tyra's side? She's trying to ruin my marriage.
Devon: Karen, I'm not taking anyone's side except for Ana’s. She misses Tyra.
Karen: (Sighs) You know what? She's--she's young. She'll get over it.
Devon: Hell, no, she won’t. That's not right.
Karen: Don't you dare judge me! That woman slept with my husband.
Devon: I'm sorry.
Devon: (Sighs) But Ana-- she shouldn't have to suffer. Who knows if you and Neil are gonna stay together to raise her?
Karen: We're gonna get past this, and we're gonna be the best parents that Ana could ever hope for.
Devon: That'd be great. It would, you know? But even if everything works itself out, you can't just shut the door on the only mother Ana’s ever known.
Karen: You know what? We will see what the judge has to say about that next week.
Devon: Judge? What are you talking about? You guys are going to family court next week?
Karen: Yes, we're going to family court next week, and Mrs. Harris is recommending the adoption. So Tyra will just be what she has really been all along-- Ana’s aunt... (Slaps hands on legs) Nothing more, nothing less.
Cane: Neil, all I want is what is best for this little girl.
Neil: You have every right to be angry, considering what Chloe put you through.
Cane: I'm not doing this out of spite. I'm doing this 'cause I love Cordelia. I held her in my arms when she was born. Will you please, Neil, will you please talk to Lily for me?
Neil: I can’t. I can't help you, Cane.
Cane: You see, I thought of all people who would understand, it would be you. You adopted Devon to give him a better life, right?
Neil: Well, now that's a different situation, okay? Because Devon's mother was a drug addict. Devon was part of the foster care system, and Cordelia's parents-- the way I'm seeing it-- they--they can take care of her.
Cane: No, no, no. Cordelia's parents can't even take care of themselves. They're--they've made too many bad choices.
Neil: Now isn't that exactly what parents do on occasion-- make bad choices-- including me?
Cane: All right, but, okay. So what about Ana? I mean, you and Karen want to adopt her. Tyra's a nice person. She's not a drug addict. What, she's just made a couple of irresponsible choices. She's not as responsible as you. So why is it okay for you to seek custody, but not for me?
Neil: I really wish I could help you out, Buddy, but I can't do that. I'm sorry. Take care.
Cane: (Sighs)
Kay: (Laughing)
Murphy: (Laughing)
(Telephone rings)
Mac: I'll get it.
Kay: Thank you, Sweetheart.
Mac: Chancellor residence.
Chloe: Is Esther there?
Mac: Yeah, can I ask who's calling?
Chloe: Her daughter.
Mac: Chloe?
Chloe: Who's this?
Mac: It's Mac, Billy's friend. We met the other night.
Chloe: I thought you left.
Esther: Anyone for fresh baked cookies?
Kay: Oh, Esther, you're spoiling me again.
Esther: (Laughs)
Mac: Esther...
Kay: We'll have two cookies.
Mac: Chloe's on the phone for you.
Murphy: No, you eat one.
Esther: Oh, thank you.
Kay: Um... um, mmm.
Murphy: Mmm.
Esther: Thanks.
Kay: Not really.
Esther: Hi, Sweetheart.
Chloe: Is Billy there?
Esther: Billy? Isn't he home with you?
Kay: Mac, uh, um, have one of Esther's cookies.
Murphy: Mmm.
Esther: Where did he say he was going?
Chloe: He went to go get formula. You know, I already found him with her once, and if he is as crazy about her as you said he was, then I am so nervous, Mom.
Esther: Now calm down. Don't worry. She's leaving tonight.
Chloe: Well, I will feel a lot better when she is on that plane.
(Door opens)
Karen: Look, I am not denying Tyra and Ana’s history, but Ana is going to be my daughter and Neil's, and Tyra will have to take a backseat.
Devon: And what does Ana think of that last "Backseat" part?
Karen: You know what? She'll adjust.
Devon: Does she even know that you guys are going to a hearing?
Karen: No, not yet, but I'm going to tell her.
(Cell phone rings)
Devon: Hello?
Tyra: Hey, Devon, it's Tyra. Look, look, don't-- please, don't hang up.
Devon: Tyra, what do you want?
Tyra: Are you at Neil's?
Devon: Yeah, I'm here. Why?
Tyra: Can I talk to Ana?
Devon: (Sighs) Ana, there's a phone call for you.
Karen: What are you doing?
Ana: Who is it?
Devon: It's Tyra.
Ana: Mom.
Tyra: Hey, Baby.
Ana: Where have you been? I've missed you so much. So when can I see you? Maybe tonight?
Tyra: Unfortunately not, Baby, not tonight. I have to work.
Ana: Make it soon, 'cause I really want to see you.
Chloe: So where is it?
Billy: Where's what?
Chloe: The formula.
Billy: Oh, they were out. I'll get some in the morning.
Chloe: Dinner's ready.
Billy: I'm not hungry.
Chloe: (Sighs)
Mac: Billy was here?
Brock: Mm-hmm. Do you want it or not?
Mac: (Sighs)
Brock: It's your life, Mac. I mean, I don't want to interfere, but, um, it--
Mac: There's something I need to tell you.
Brock: Well, you can tell me in the car. It's time to go.
Kay: I cannot tell you what it has meant to me having you both here. God, thank you for coming back.
Brock: (Laughing)
Kay: Oh.
Brock: Thank you for doing the same.
Kay: Oh.
Brock: You know, life just didn't make sense without the "Duchess."
Murphy: Hey, great meeting you, Brock. You come visit any time.
Brock: Sure will, and the pleasure's all mine, and I don't have to tell you to make my mother happy, 'cause you already have.
Kay: (Laughs)
Brock: Esther, come here.
Esther: Oh, Brock.
Brock: Come here. You be good. You be safe, okay?
Esther: Oh, I'll try.
Brock: All right. Ready?
Mac: I'm not going.
Kay: You're staying?
Brock: (Scoffs)
Mac: If that's all right with you.
Kay: Mac, I-I-I could not be happier.
Esther: I'll make sure that your room is ready.
Brock: Walk me out?
Mac: Yeah.
Brock: So... (Sighs) Call him?
Mac: I'm not staying because of Billy.
Brock: Oh?
Mac: Murphy made me realize how much Grandma needs me.
Brock: Okay, can't argue with that. Just protect yourself.
Mac: I will.
Brock: I love you, Mac.
Mac: I love you, too, Dad.
Lily: So I took your suggestion. I went to see what kind of parents Billy and Chloe really are.
Cane: So you know that Cordelia will be better off with me?
Lily: (Sighs) I didn't change my mind, Cane. She's exactly where she's supposed to be. If you had seen the way Billy held her and the smile on his face...
Cane: I don't want to hear it.
Lily: They are her parents. She's not in danger, and what makes you think a judge would even give you custody anyways?
Cane: Because I have to try. 'Cause that little girl needs to know that someone cares enough to try and give her a better life, 'cause God knows her parents sure as hell won’t.
Tyra: All right, Baby, well, it's getting late, and you should already be in bed. Yeah, I love you, too, Honey. Good night.
(Sighs)
Neil: Hey.
Tyra: Hey. I tell you, your timing is impeccable, because you just missed the fireworks.
Neil: What?
Tyra: Yeah, Devon just chewed me out for being a slut.
Neil: You must be kidding me. Did he actually call you that?
Tyra: Well, not those exact words, but... and I'm assuming that Karen most likely knows, because why else would she be keeping me from seeing my daughter?
Neil: Well, um, Tyra, you're actually half right about that, because she guessed.
Tyra: Oh, she guessed.
Neil: Um...
Tyra: (Sighs)
Neil: Mrs. Harris came by. We have family court scheduled for next week.
Tyra: Family court?
Neil: Yeah.
Tyra: (Scoffs) Look, Neil, I understand why Karen is trying to adopt my daughter, but what I don't understand is why you are trying to take Ana away from me, and especially now.
Neil: (Sighs)
Tyra: (Sighs) Look, you don't even know if you'll end up staying with her or not.
Neil: All right, listen, um, do you understand what's at stake here, that--that if I let on that Karen and I are having problems, what are they gonna do? What are they gonna do? They're gonna take Ana, and they're gonna put her right back into foster care.
Tyra: Okay, so what am I supposed to do, huh? Just disappear, or act like, you know, Ana never existed?
Neil: I'm on it, all right? I already put in a call to Raphael.
Tyra: Oh, yeah, great. Raphael-- what is he supposed to do?
Neil: Well... (Clears throat) I want to try to put Ana back in your care. Now if Raphael can make that happen before the hearing, then Karen is gonna have to give up on the whole adoption idea.
Tyra: Karen is not gonna let that happen, Neil.
Neil: Well, she might, especially when she sees how happy Ana is with you.
Tyra: You know that you will be putting your entire marriage on the line.
Neil: It's for Ana. It's the right thing to do. It doesn't really matter what the cost is.
Ana: Good night, Devon.
Devon: Mm, sweet dreams.
Ana: Okay.
Devon: Love you.
Karen: Night.
Ana: Night.
Karen: How could you put Tyra on the phone with Ana after everything that she has done?
Devon: Karen, I really like you. I do, but right now, you're not thinking straight.
Karen: (Scoffs)
Devon: And I completely understand it. Whatever happens between you and Neil, Ana should not get caught in the cross fire.
Karen: Did you know that I am not able to have children?
Devon: No, Karen, I didn't know that.
Karen: Neil and I almost didn't get married for that reason, because we were unable to have a family together. You have no idea how much that little girl means to me, how important she is in my life.
Devon: This isn't about you, though. Ana belongs with Tyra.
Karen: I have so much love to give that little girl, Devon.
Devon: But, Karen, you're not that little girl's mother.
Karen: I will be.
Devon: (Sighs) Karen, no matter what happens, Tyra is going to be in Ana’s life. I have to make sure of that. I'm sorry.
(Door closes)
Billy: Have you seen my cell phone?
Chloe: Um, oh, yeah. Yeah, it's right there.
Billy: Well, it smells good.
Chloe: Cheese?
Billy: Yeah.
Billy: You know, it's late. You and the baby should go home.
Chloe: Delia's actually due for her next feeding, but you guys are done here, right?
Mac: We are.
Billy: No, not really.
Kay: Oh, Mackenzie, aren't you chilly out here, Dear?
Murphy: I'll get you a jacket.
Kay: Oh, thank you. Uh, listen, how about a-a game of gin rummy with Murph and me? Oh, unless you think that would be boring.
Mac: There's nowhere I would rather be right now than playing gin rummy with you and Murphy.
Kay: Everything is right in the world again.
Mac: I hope so.
Kay: You'll help me find my way, and I'm certain you will find yours. (Chuckles)
Next on "The Young and the Restless"...
Noah: Are you sure you're ready for this?
Michael: I am going to ask the judge to commit Kevin for a psychological evaluation.
Phyllis: You're not going up to that cabin with that slut.
Nick: Look, I'm not gonna argue about this with you.
